Stepping into the arena, you are immediately enveloped with the light shining into the room, either morning or evening depending on what time you decide to enter. If you can tear your gaze away from the intricately designed windows and high ceilings could, you can see to the very right of the room, there is the long platform in which supervised duels will take place while four benches on either side are placed at a safe distance for those who would like to sit and watch. Just ahead of the platform in the right corner, there is a door, though pay no attention to it. It's locked for a reason.
Towards the back wall, there are various types of practice dummies, both stationary and moving, depending on what difficulty the practicer wants. Don't be afraid to go all out with your spells, for these dummies are charmed to repair themselves. There is one practice dummy set aside that will shoot spells back to the practicer, however, permission from a Professor is required to use it. To the left side of the arena are two sets of stands, eight seats high, that look out to the entire arena, comfortable for those who would just like to watch what's going on all around or for general purposes such as studying or relaxing after a long day in the arena.
The middle of the room is quite empty, due to the fact that the defense Professor enjoys presenting lessons in here, but please, despite the brilliant light that shines through the arena due to the large windows, it is not some place to sunbathe or fall asleep. You will be levitated out with a good dose of cold water splashed on you if caught.

Was he keeping up? Lex had been sure not to lose him on the moving staircases and the corridor went straight for the longest while. Technically there was no way he could get lost but just in case, she kept glancing over at him to be sure. The thought occurred to her that she could have given him directions and offered to meet him there after a trip to the kitchen but this was easier and she was anxious to get back here anyway.
"This is it." She said, shoving the door open and stepping aside for him to enter before doing this same. "The dueling arena."
Lex continued further into the room, not stopping until she stood before the training dummies she'd taken a whack out of maybe once or twice...or a million times. "Best thing about these guys is they fix themselves right back up."

He was torn between LOOKING AROUND, and following obediently... but somehow he managed both. As they walked, he took in EVERYTHING that he could, every hanging on the wall, every step, every corridor - though he was sure he wouldn't remember much of it. His legs worked like little motors, keeping up just behind Lex. It was uber cool of her to show him around and stufff.
"This is it?" he echoed, stepping through the door she held open for him. He wasn't sure what he was expecting, but whatever it was... it couldn't have been this, because his eyes bulged in mild surprise, and a grin slowly graced his face as he realised the epicness of it all. It was colder than he expected, that much was for sure, and lighter too... perhaps even too light. "This is BEYOND cool," he muttered, glancing over at Lex as she stepped further into the room.
OMG THERE WERE DUMMIES!
....
....
"No kidding," he mused, imagining all the things he could... maybe one day... do to them. "What if you blow them to smithereens?" he asked. Could they fix themselves then? Watch all the bits and pieces and ash float back together?

She wasn't sure what to make of his echoing her. Was it....in a good way? Or.....? Lex might have asked too but his after response was all the answer she needed. Someone who could appreciate this place as much as she did because yes, this place WAS brilliant and she was starting to think she would need to get herself one of these when she left. Something to have a chat with her grandparents about if it came to that.
A wide grin spread across her face at his question. "I was hoping you'd ask." Truly, she was. Lex took hold of his robes and pulled him back some until they were at a good enough distance, then....
"Expulso!"
A beam of blue light shot from the Gryffindor's wand followed closely by a sudden, loud BOOM that echoed through the empty arena. The sound effects in this place were amazing when you happened to be on your own. Being the responsible Head Girl Gryffindor she was, Lex was sure to place her body before Zeke's in case you had the flying debris, but was out of the way the moment the smoke settled. Within seconds the pieces rattled along the floor until they found their way back to each other.
"Kinda like magnetic work, but of course, it's magic." Aaaand she kinda wanted to blow something else up now. Wow.

She hoped he'd ask? ..... That sounded promising, even more promising than he had anticipated. All he had expected was an answer, but it seemed he was going to be in for a treat, a demonstration!!!!! He happily let Head Girl Lex drag him by his robes, away from what would be the crime scene... distance was key when blowing things up. Would hate to lose a limb of your own and what not.
He listened and watched intently as Lex performed some sort of blowing up spell, but his vision was limited immediately by Lex's body in front of his, and by a haze of dust-smoke and debris that followed. Zeke bumped up against her, trying his best to peer around her cause he REALLY wanted to see what happened - of course, he didn't see much of anything at all and so he settled for taking a small step back so he wasn't practically leaning against the seventh year. As the dust and stuff slowly settled, and Lex stepped aside, he was able to see the effects with his own eyes.
Yep.
"You killed it," he observed brightly, and then he REALLY observed... cause LOOOKKKK!!! IT WAS FIXING ITSELF! JUST LIKE HOW SHE SAID IT WOULD! "Magggiiiccc!" HAHAHAHA... this was awesome.
"Can you teach me to do that?" he asked, desperate to blow up something himself.

Zeke was having a hard time keeping still, she figured as much and that was how someone lost an eye, trying to watch the debris flying. Did she want to be held accountable for anything that happened to the kid in here, even with her having been the one to invite him? NOPE, so she'd stand there and he could moved all her liked behind her.
Lex beamed proudly at his conviction. "Sure did. Kill them all a couple times a day if I can. Helps me relieve stress so I don't go blowing up others." Because apparently that was bad form or something? She didn't even KNOW but Azkaban wasn't lovely so she'd have to pass. A whole world awaited her outside this blasted castle and she'd be damned if she let herself miss out on it because people around her couldn't control their idiocy.
"I can't." She replied frankly, but only because of all the effort and patience it would take and even then some. She waved a hand airly, hoping he wouldn't take it too personally.
"Could teach you another one that blows things up though, even if not as well without it's advanced form." Then later on Zeke could learn the effective means of adding 'Maxima' to things and his exploding life could be complete.

Jasmine made her way down to the Dueling Arena with the intention of practicing her spellwork. She was sure that she was rusty and wanted to be much sharper before Defense Againt the Dark Arts class came along. Eyeing the dummies, Jasmine managed a smile. Oh, they were going down today. She'd start with her regular spells and then move on to practice nonverbal spells.
Jasmine took a moment to stretch, warming her muscles before she started. When she was finished, she positioned herself directly across from a dummy. Then Jasmine tried to get her mind focused and concentrate on what she would do. First she would prepare her mind and then she would be ready to start.

From the back, the 7th year girl looked the of age witch to Cutty. If he were being honest with himself, he always found Jasmine Guidry on the attractive side. There were, however, obstacles to her affection. But Chris was nowhere to be found these days. Rumour had it he transferred to another school. Cutty took this as a sign from the heavens that now was his time to make his move.
"Hey, Guidry." He said with what his lil fourteen year old butt probably thought was a fine come-hither. "Coom to brighten oop this dank space or is that just a happy side effect of yew gettin' soom practice in?" Merlin. Cutty Mordaunt. What ARE you doing??!

Jasmine had her eyes closed, trying to get her focus on when she heard someone call her name. Somewhat startled she opened her eyes to find one Cutty Mordaunt. Yes she knew who he was, didn't everyone? The "Candy Man" was well known around Hogwarts. Truth be told, Jasmine kind of admired him for his entrepreneurial skills.
Raising one eyebrow, Jasmine looked at Cutty curiously. "Mr. Mordaunt, hello" Was he practicing his rap?........because if that was a line he just threw, she wasn't biting. "I try to spread my sunshine around. This time it just happens to be a result of my practicing. What brings you here?" Candy to be sold? Had he heard that she was a borderline sugar junkie? Of course she wasn't at the Lex level, but she liked her sweets.

A couple of times a day? A COUPLE OF TIMES A DAY? He didn't know anyone that wasn't in law enforcement that didn't do this kinda stuff twice a day!!!! It was awesome. The whole stress relieving thing and not blowing others up was a good thing too. "I don't get stressed, but I might give this a go for when I do," he decided with feigned maturity. If it worked for her, it might work for him.
Zeke was full of hope, every nerve in his body was screaming for him to partake in the awesome things, but alas, it wasn't to be. He felt his heart sink a little. She couldn't... or she wouldn't... either way, it WASN'T going to happen. BOO.
Nodding despite his disappointment, Zeke accepted his fate, only to have a bone thrown in his direction. He contemplated Lex's offer. "Sounds good to me," he agreed quickly. As if he'd pass up ANY chance to learn how to even REMOTELY blow things up. HA! "What do I do?!" he asked eagerly, slipping his wand from its holster and brandishing it with great enthusiasm. EN GARDE DUMMY!

Of course he didn't get stressed. What was he? 6? Nothing much to bother him yet. Not really anyway.
"Doesn't have to only be when you're stressed. Annoyed works too or bored." She said with a casual shrug. "During the lock in last term I was here every day, blowing things up, trying to forget we were locked in." Which, admittedly didn't work and only left her more frustrated until she'd worn herself blowing up dummy after dummy again and again. Some things were just not so easily forgotten.
Oh look, he was up for it. She didn't figure he wouldn't be. Kid seemed eager enough to see anything blow up. "You're gonna need a lot of focus. Really concentrate on the explosion you want happening."
She lifted his pointing hand some then continued. "The incantation is 'bombarda' and it takes a simple point at whatever you want blown up."

"Same." He said whipping out his Aspen and idly writing from right to left in the air. Could've been Arabic script. "I went to a summeh camp fer young wizards and they taught us a few new spells." He began to loosen his tie and roll up the sleeves on his shirt, trying to get comfortable in the school uniform. "Thought I'd get a bit of practice in. Booht, I could go fer a duel. Stressing sounded lame, and he wasn't all that keen on it, but on the other hand... having a reason to blow things up, now THAT was worth it. Maybe that's why Emily liked to blow things up too? And that punching bag she had had seen better days... it was probably magic just like these dummies. Hhhmmm. Lex though, Lex was awesome, especially cause she was giving him ideas. "I get bored all the time, this could work," he nodded just casually deciding that this would be the case. The whole being locked in and tryign to forget it would have sucked. "Couldn't you have blown through the sealed secret passage and escaped?" he asked, remembering what Angel had mentioned to him before. The one behind the statue.
Focus. Concentration. Two things he seldom had control of... but for the sake of blowing something up, he'd try. "Got it," he nodded, trying his hand at his best commanding posture. Zeke stood and followed Lex's directions, letting her move his wand arm with his bendy Larch springy between his fingers. "Bombarda," he repeated with no intentiion whatsoever, just so he wouldn't prematurely fire. It was a simple enough incantation, not something he needed to practice, so instead... he tried focusing on the target dummy.
FOCUS!
CONCENTRATE!
"Bombarda!" he called out, trying his best to make sure his wand was pointing directly at the dummy's chest. He'd close his eyes though, as his wand kicked back from the force of the spell, and the sound... that loud sound was promising, but had it hit his mark?
"Did I get it?" he asked, slowly opening his eyes. Heh. Heh.

A camp for wizards? New spells? Should Jasmine be afraid? Probably. However, Jasmine was intrigued by young Mr. Mordaunt so she was game. "Oh yes Mr. Mordaunt, I am most definitely up for it", she said with a smile. Having absolutely no idea of Cutty's level of ability, Jasmine knew she'd have to be on her toes. As far as she had seen, he seemed pretty sharp. Anyone who could run a candy hustle as successfully as he did had to be smart. No, she would not underestimate him for one minute. Moving her head from side to side and cracking her fingers, Jasmine said, "I'm ready when you are.". This was going to be very interesting.

He paused at the Arena's entrance and glanced around. AJ wasn't there as yet. Noooo problem. It gave him time to run through incantations and wand movements mentally. He was totally prepared for this!

To say that AJ was not so up on her wand/spell work was an understatement. Considering they couldn't use magic outside of school, she was sure to be rusty. All the way down to the arena she tried to go over some spells that she knew in her head. There wasn't anything to worry about though because she was dueling against Adi.
As she made her way into the arena, she spotted Adi off to the side. She snuck up behind him, and whispered in his ear. "Ready to get your butt kicked by a girl again?" Oh yeah, the confidence was still there, and her previous thoughts were not showing on her face at all.

Adi was onto the fifth spell in his head when that all too familiar voice spoke in his ear. He turned to face AJ. "Hey, you.'' He leaned down and kissed the cheek. "I thought you'd be going easy on me now.'' Hehe. Of course Adi didn't expect that. If anything he'd do whatever he had to so AJ's spell work would improve.
"Ready whenever you are. Don't get too ahead of yourself. I just might surprise you.'' With a wink, Adi grabbed AJ's hand and lead the way into the Arena. That all too familiar tingle was in her belly when he kissed her. The lion could only hope that feeling would never fade. "Hey yourself." Easy on him? HA! "Thought the kiss would soften me up?" Because it did, but once they were in duel mode, AJ could have her competitive face on. "I never go easy on anyone," she joked. Boyfriend or not.
"I was born ready." There was the AJ they all knew. It was go time, and she was pumped. "I've got a few tricks up my sleeve too." Not really. Her only hope was that under pressure they would all come back to her. No way he was winning this one. "We will see about that, Rehman." Her wand was out and she was positioned just right. "Annnd go." Ladies first, of course. "Obscuro." She had been wanting to try that ever since she heard it was a thing. Did she do the correct wand movement? Probably not.

"We will, Valentine.'' Darn, he loved that confidence and competitiveness about AJ. Adi had his wand a the ready and he was wondering what spell the Lion was going to use. Oooh. She wanted to blindfold him, huh? He hurriedly opened his mouth to defend himself. Yet he need not worry. Her wand movement was not done properly and as a result no blindfold appeared over his eyes. "I'm over here. Do you need specs?'' he joked. She hadn't pointed directly at him.

"Not really. But I can hope, right? Especially since you beat me last year.'' Hehe. That's the spirit, AJ. Adi hadn't expected her to go easy on him. Not for one bit.
Without wasting another second..."Cantis!'' Come on, AJ. Sing.
"Hope is the only thing you can do." Because after this duel was over, AJ was going to be 2-0. She really hoped that she could pull it off. Adi was way more experienced that she was. No matter. AJ had spunk and determination.
Ugh. She was off. She was way off. No way she was going to let that get her down. AJ expected to be rusty in the beginning. Mr. Rehman over there seemed to be a bit cheeky. Without breaking her concentration, she laughed and countered him. "I'm just getting warmed up." That was her story and she was sticking to it.
Cantis. She remembered that one from before. AJ had no intention of singing again, and being caught off guard. She whipped her wand through the air and tried to block the spell. Once she realized that she still had control over her vocal cords, she jumped up and down. "I blocked the spell. Did you see? Did you see?" Forgetting for just a second that this was a duel. Adi was her own personal helper, and she got lost in the moment for a second.
Ahem. Gathering herself together she cast, "Rictusempra!" Have a good laugh lately?

Adi bit back a laugh. Hope wasn't the only thing he could do. He could win this and prove AJ wrong. "Sure you are.'' He threw her a smirk. Yeah, right. Maybe she was just too excited about dueling her boyfriend. LOL.
Aw man! It looks like Adi would be missing the opportunity to hear her sing again. Ah well, on the bright side she did block the spell. "Hey, that's great!'' He really was pleased for her, you know.
He was so caught up in watching her being all happy and jumpy that he didn't realise she was getting ready to throw another spell his way. Until it was too late, that is. The next thing the Puffer knew was that he was doubled over, laughing his head off because it felt as if a million fingers were tickling him.
Control. He must have control. That was easier said than done. But could he even grab control for a second or two to return a spell to AJ? He would try. Still laughing, he raised his head and his shaking left hand. "Gelatinus!'' The wand movement was supposed to be a loose lightning bolt but it might have come out wrong due to his uncontrollable laughter so AJ might not feel the total effects of the Jelly- Legs jinx.

Was he not taking her seriously? Because AJ was totally serious. "I can't wait to wipe that smile off your face with my win." Adi would be happy for her, and she knew it.
You see that? That was what a boyfriend looked like when they were happy for their girlfriend. Even though they were in the middle of a duel he was supporting her, and being his sweet, hufflepuff self. "Its my first time ever blocking a spell." She had Adi to thank for that. He motivated her like nobody else.
Not only did she manage to block a spell, but she hit him with one. He was going down. It was hilarious to watch him doubled over in laughter when there wasn't anybody there to tickle him. How did you make it stop? That was something she didn't think about in advance.
No time to worry about that now because Adi was hitting her back with a spell of his own. The name didn't sound familiar, but she didn't have long to question what it did because her legs felt like jelly all of a sudden. It took her by surprise and she wobbled. AJ barely regained her balance right before she was about to fall over. That was a close one. "Langlock," she cried. AJ was still wobbly on her feet so the odds of the spell actually hitting him was slim to none.

Adi shook his head, still smirking. "You're over confident today, aren't you?'' He was baiting her, which was something he did a lot to get her working harder.
He liked watching her be all happy. If it were possible, he'd say it made her look a whole lot prettier but she was already the most beautiful girl in his eyes. "Certainly won't be the last though.'' He was confident about that. "Just keep up your concentration.''
Adi thought the Tickling Charm was wearing off for he was laughing less and he could feel himself slowly regaining control of himself. Uh oh. Langlock? If that hit him, he wouldn't be able to utter an incantation. The Puffer (still laughing) raised his wand to cast a Shield Charm. Either it worked or AJ's spell missed him. His tongue was not glued to the roof of his mouth. Awesome!
Raising his head, Adi could see her wobbling around. Perfect time for another spell. "Steleus!'' Green rings emitted from the wand clutched in his firmer and less shaky grasp.

Hearing some ruckus coming from the arena as she passed by, Medea back tracked and peered into the area while adjusting the position of the semi-large box she held. Oooh? Practicing? Here? Already? Was that even heard of? Curious, and positively delighted, she changed course and leisurely made her way into the arena. Towards the stands perhaps.
She could borrow a bit of time to observe. This could possibly be the final time she'd seen the arena being used so early in the term.

She was pretty sure there was no such thing as over confidence. "I'm just really sure of myself." Which pretty much translated into the same thing, but AJ didn't see that as a bad thing. If anything it made her want to work that much harder so she could prove she had every reason to be "over confident".
Was he not the cutest thing ever? "Nope. There's more where that came from." Keep up the concentration. Got it. His hair was looking really nice today. Nooo... she was in a duel. She shook her head in a vain attempt to clear it. FOCUS!!!
Langlock didn't work, but she had some more tricks to try. Not before Adi hit her with a new spell. All of a sudden she was sneezing. It wasn't just an ordinary sneeze either.
"ACHOO!" Sniffle. "ACHOO!"Her eyes were watering, and the tickling sensation in her nose never went away.
How could she think under these conditions? The sneezes were coming one after the other. "Si-- achoo." She had to get a spell out. "Si.. Si.. Silencio!" Keeping up with the silencing theme, AJ hoped that it made contact even if she couldn't see straight.
AJ heard someone else enter and chanced a look over while Adi was getting his bearings. Oh looky, they had a spectator. Now there would be a witness to AJ beating Adi once more.
