The Hogwarts staff are already seated when you enter the end of term feast. Their traditional place is at a long table on a raised dais at the back of the Great Hall, with the usual Hogwarts crest hanging behind them and looking particularly nice tonight.
Feel free to come up and give your greetings to the School staff after the Headmistress has given her end-of-term speech. Remember your manners, children. Your professors like to have a quiet dinner too.

Leo watched with fondness how Abraham made his way from the double doors and up to his seat on the dais. Waving and flashing the senior man a big smile Leo called down. "Good evening Abraham and congratulations to your deputy headmaster appointment."
Ab craned his neck to look at his young friend from aaaall the way where he sat at the edge of the long table. "Thank you, you are ever so kind." And he should visit him in his office soon. With tea and cookies.

He clapped the old man on the shoulder (not TOO hard though, because he didn't want to break him or something). Promoted to Deputy Headmaster but he still had to sit on the end. Poor bloke.
Botros gave the young man a salute. "Thanks." He let out a subtle cough that wasn't really cough but yeah, the clap on the back was something he hadn't received in years, it was like everyone was afraid to touch him these last couple of years, pfft.

ANOTHER touchy colleague... except this one was... oh. Ahem. AHEM. "Thank you, Josephine." He gave her hand a nice squeeze, aw. Ladies were nice after they got married and had their own kids to look after, they weren't as... scattered emotionally.

He did like Miss Cassiopeia, he really did, even with the blindingly blondness of her hair and the usual pinkness of her outfit... that was lacking today. "Thank you, dear." He extended the wide smiling face over towards her.

"Evening, Javier." Botros gave the Creatures professor a special wave, he had this big respect for him. He looked collected and less crazy than the rest of the young bunch. Heh heh.

Adorned in bright orange dress robes, she flounced into the hall, nodding to a few students along the way. She had been pleased to see Miss Guidry get a badge and was not surprised at the choice for Head Girl. Finally she sauntered onto the platform and took her seat near the end of the table. "Evening, gentlemen," she said to her dinner companions. "Congratulations on the new positions, both of you."
Oh oops, he almost forgot they DID have a companion, Airey and himself. After those few years, the chair was going to be occupied. Ab smiled and nodded at the late Domingo, "Thank you, dear. Hope you had a good summer yourself." Hmm? He moved his cane out of the way for her to sit comfortably.

Speaking of Airey she gave the man a wide beam. “Ooooh hello there Airey. You are looking quite sharp today.” He seemed very happy as well. Great way to start off the new term. “I hear congrats are in order.” It was soooo exciting to think of being a head of house. Leading a house that you use to be a part of. Ooooh how fun that would be, she snapped excitedly for him.
He sent an overly confident salute Cassiopeia's way and a grin. Which was his silent way of saying thank you.

Annie didn't know what to do with it. After staring at the box in suspicion for a few moments, mostly because of WHO gave it to her, she carefully tugged the gift closer to her and opened it with some trepidation. When she pulled out an absolutely DELIGHTFUL mug that not only marked her as the Boss LADY, but also as a FASHIONISTA, she couldn't help but smile.
"Well thank you, Professor Flamsteed," the redhead NEARLY beamed at him. "I will certainly be using this. I quite... like it." LOOK, A GIFT! Why didn't more of her staff give her gifts, huh? She was going to expect retro-gift-giving from both Cece and Leobald now, for their promotions. Abraham as well.
Once the presentation of said gift was over, the astronomer felt as though a giant weight the size of Jupiter had just been lifted from his shoulders. He had just given a gift, to a person, a LADY person, and not planked midway through or stuttered. The power of the suit. Totally.
Yep. Called it. She loved it. He could tell she was holding back using the L-word. Oh yeah, he was stellar at picking out gifts for people. Once he got over selection anxiety that is.
"This pleases me, Headmistress," he grinned.
He was just about to finally head to his own seat when....

Sure, things had been like this with them for the past four years, but now, well now they were married and she just wasn't ready to give up her time with her husband. Yeah, she would never get tired of the sound of that. Her husband.
Playing with the rings on her finger she made her way to the staff table and sat in her usual seat. It looked as if almost all the staff were there already minus a few from her end of the table. Of course there was once again a new groundskeeper sitting to her right. "Hello." Short man. This sure was a nice change. Not having that giant of a groundskeeper invading her space anymore. Too bad it wasn't her husband sitting next to her again. Now that's one groundskeeper she would happily let invade her space. But alas, he was off in Africa.
And then there was Professor Flamsteed standing with the headmistress. "Good evening Airey. Congratulations again on becoming the new head of house for those lions. Too bad your first year as head of house will be tarnished with your lions losing that house cup they stole from my snakes last term."
Yeah, it was safe to say Cece was not going to let her snakes be cheated out of that cup again this term.
Cecelia happened.
First things first. "Thank you. I am certainly looking forward to this new adventure."
Was she trying to ruffle his feathers? Because it was working. Implying that Gryffindors hadn't rightfully earned the House Cup last term. Perhaps the Healer needed to review the traits associated with each house, hmmm? Chivalry was STILL a thing, you know?
"Stole? Tisk tisk. Can't steal something that was never under Slytherin ownership to begin with, Cecelia," he smirked. Simple facts and numbers. Nothing debatable there. "Or are you completely disregarding the hard work and house spirit Gryffindor showed last term?" Clearly, she underestimated the lions. HIS lions. Lions that did not NEED to cheat to achieve victory because they were STELLAR on their own. Even more so this term, in his completely unbiased opinion.
"In fact....Cecelia Til---er---Murdoch, I challenge you," he said as he whipped out a Star Trek handkerchief from his enchanted breast pocket and thrust it down on the table in front of her. He didn't have a glove handy, okay? "A wager, between you and me. Which ever of our two houses triumphs over the other this term wins. Losing Head of House will have to dress however the winning Head of House desires at the End of Term feast."
And he already knew precisely the getup she would be wearing. Heh.

Deciding to take the plunge, Archie placed his hands rigidly by his side as he strode down the loooooong hall, with his bumbag making a really irritating rattling noise as he did so. What a stupid idea it was to bring that thing along.
Ah, the headmistress. He would talk to her first. And apparently, only her, for now. "Hi there." He bent forwards a bit, and then back, and then he crossed his legs as if he needed to pee or something. But he didn't. "Umm..." Archie tapped his chin and raised an eyebrow at the seats before pointing at a few of the empty ones. "Can I just... sit anywhere... or.....?" Aaaaand he trailed off. Didn't want to sit in someone's claimed seat, of course.
Finally, he gave a general raised hand-wave, and then a pathetic smile to each of the present staff members, who were all quite... tall, he noticed. "Oh, hello. Archie." He pointed to himself. Yes, obviously. Archie's eyes went particularly wide as he stopped at the man wearing the red suit. A bit much, wasn't it? Or was he the joker of the gang? Were the Hogwartz staff those kind of people?
Who would Archie be? Mister Under-dressed?
He wasn't going to wait for Cecelia to accept the challenge, BECAUSE IT WAS SO ALREADY ACCEPTED IN HIS MIND, and just turn and go back to his seat looking all smug and devil-may-care, when they were joined by someone else. A small someone else. A small someone else that the Headmistress seemed to know. And was sitting in the cursed Groundskeeper seat.
You know what would help elongate the man's figure? A suit. Airey wasn't sure if it was secretly written somewhere that Groundskeepers were not to own a suit - he was fairy sure the previous two did not - but THIS one he would make sure did.
"Airey Flamsteed, Astronomy professor. Sorry, but I don't have a mug for you," he said as he reached over to offer the man a handshake.

"Thank you, Leobald," he grinned. Certainly felt good to be put in this position, even if he never imagined that this would become his reality. Especially given his Hogwarts history. "Good to see you in good health, and that that patch of hair grew back."
Really, Leobald, you always made it WAY too easy.

Giving a wiggling finger wave to Leo, Medea smiled towards the man before scooting around towards her seat. "Hello, Cassiopeia. Headmistress." she greeted happily as she took her set, gaze traveling from the Divination professor to the Astronomy professor in front of Annie. Oh...!
She was not expecting the eye liner. That didn't stop her from gesturing around her own eyes and giving him a thumbs up though.
Catching Medea's thumbs up, he chuckled at the fact that they had somehow managed to coordinate looks again. Unintentionally, honest.
"Oh, you got it to stop following you," he noted as he walked towards her on his way to his seat. "Stellar." He leaned forward just a bit so he could whisper to her. "Everything is ready to go. You and I will just need to put the finishing touches up before Miss Cambridge and Mr. Bay bring everyone up," he winked.
Just needed to remind the two to take the scenic route when leading the rest of their house to the common room.

He greeted happily, his voice must travel easily now that the hall was empty. Gratefully, his seat was right here next to those steps, he sat himself down and waited until his neighbor Airey was looking his way, "Congratulations," Son. "I can see you're chuffed with your new position." Heh heh heh.
Returning to his seat, he briefly lamented the fact that there would not be an open seat for Pebbles to sit this term. Hence why she was back upstairs in his office sleeping peacefully on her pink pillow.
"Giddy as a galactic halo," he declared with a salute. "Congratulations to you as well." Although it was a bit of a pity that as deputy the man didn't have a seat closer to the center of the table. Then again, the end was probably easier to get to on the man's ancient limbs.
He patted his suit pocket and was alarmed at what he felt. Or rather what he didn't feel. Well...this was awkward. For him at least. Old Man River would have no idea why his eyes were all wide like full moons right now.

Cue the lady with the baby to save the day! Or at least be a distraction.
Wait...baby?! Not that he disliked them, he had been quite fond of the little one that Hecate had brought the one term. Even performed a muggle magic trick for the little one. But now, well, circumstances in his personal life had changed and...well....they sort of freaked him out. A lot.
Hence his slight scooting back of his chair away from the table.
"Evening," he said. All eyes on the tiny human. "And thank you." Eyes still on the tiny human.

Oh look, more orange. Although Nessarose wore it better. Unbiased opinion over here.
"Evening, Lolita," he replied as he looked down at her seat. ONLY the seat. Pebbles would have loved to have sat there. "Your congratulation is appreciated."
And then he heard someone else announce their presence and Airey's head snapped around to see just who it was.
"HIYA ANDY PANDY!" Airey waved with both hands towards the new Herbology professor. Was hardly the astronomer's fault the fellow had fallen for one of the oldest muggle pranks in the book during more than one Astronomy lesson while they were students together. You know, the one where you lace the lens of a telescope in blank ink or soot so the person gets an attractive circle around the eye? Had made Andrew look like a brooding panda (hence the pandy because that rhymed better with Andy) and made Airey's sides hurt. "Good to see you again!"
Sweet solstice. Why was there always drama over seats down there at the other end of the table? Airey was just going to look out and BEAM at the Gryffindors (LOOK AT ALL THOSE NEW LIONS JOINING THE TABLE!) from his seat so as to ignore the lady quarreling going on down at that end.
Speaking of Gryffindors...he probably should actually start thinking of what to say to them once he went down to visit the house table... or he could just wing it.
Yeah. That sounded more appealing. Winging it.

Goodness gracious she was convinced she was surrounded by idiots. Sophia didn't even have time to respond to Leobald when everyone started arriving and by them she had, had her fill of unbearable, insufferable personalities. Up up up she got.
"I'm pleased that you had a good time Leobald. But we'll catch up after this shindig is over." She pushed Josephina's chair back and got up from the table, descended the dias and walked to the snakes table.
Between the sing songing hellos, Cassie's snapping...Airey's use of Andy-Pandy. She had enough. These weren't grown people..these were pre-teens in adult bodies. Enough.
New persons got a nod of the head. She supposed she would have time to find out what other loons had joined the staff at a later time. Heck, she had all year

Well, well, WEELLL, look who had shiny rings on her fingers? Though she wasn't the only one with new rings. So he wasn't going to pick a fight.

And low and behold who arrived right after. The happily snapping Cassie. Given the mention that Leo said of news relating to he watched as she went over to him first.. Babies were so cute.
Would she notice if he stole it?
Just kidding. But the baby was cute. Piers grinned at the little boy and and waved at him with a couple of his fingers. Aww.

OH, OH. Another new guy?!!! This suddenly got Archie ridiculously excited, and he smiled a little wider at him than he had done to the previous lady. He gave him a girly little finger wiggle for some bizarre reason. "Hey there." Why did everyone else already know who he was, though? He was already in the staffing crew apparently.
Maybe it was because he was handsome. Whateva.

It couldn’t hurt to be nice.
Hm, funny. He seemed to have remembered announcing himself as Archie, not Archibald.
Wizards, huh? They knew everything.
Still, the librarian was being very polite and Archie appreciated that. This was a pretty scary experience. "Hello." He called out a little, since they were a little bit away from each other. "That's right, but please call me Archie." He smiled.

Here was a nice guy, Archie could just tell. "Thanks very much, Javier... Javy." Shortened names. Everyone had them. Cool. "Nice to meet you."

She beamed at him and poured him a water without his asking. Because she was SO KIND.
To new people.
For now.
Ohhoho... okay. A bit more excitable than he was anticipating, but Archie tried his best to mimic it. He approached the chairs a bit closer and... wait what? He had to sit there? Right in the middle??? "Oh..." Ahem, just deal with it. "Right... lovely." The small man slipped behind the table and pulled his shirt over his bum before gently perching himself on the end. The very end. He blinked at the terrifying sight of the hall in front of him, before smiling quickly at Anastasia. "Yes, yes, I'm super. Just a little nervous." He lowered his voice for the last part. "What about yourself?"
Water?
"Actually..." He raised a finger and watched the water as she was pouring it for him, and then he tucked the finger away but still had his arm up. There was a short pause after that because he wished he hadn't been so RUDE. Archie tapped his chin. "Any chance of... a tea?" 'Cause he had been just GASPING for a cuppa all day.

Archie had avoided looking at the suited man for long periods of time, because he felt like he was being rude for staring. His head spun back around as the man introduced himself, and Archie pretended that this was the first time he had noticed him at all. "Oh, hi there. Archie Millard." He smiled, but it was more of an amused smile, as he shook his hand firmly. "Ah, no worries." Though it would have been nice to have something to drink his tea from.
Was he getting that tea, by the way?

Of course he remembered him, though. "Long time no see, mate." It was always good to see old friends and rekindle old friendships.
Seeing that he caught the attention of his friend, Andrew pushed back his chair and met Peirs half way gripping his hand in both his. He obviously was glad to be seeing a familiar face in his brand new and different job. "Peirs Fuller, look at you." The name alone brought so many memories. He smirked at the joke, "Seems like Hogwarts brought our paths together again," Which was nice since they met here and mostly all their friendship was part of this place and wouldn't have happened without it. "It'll be a pleasure to work along side you," He said meaning his words. Because Walton did not bother with false compliments. "Who's your friend?" he motioned to the man who'd nudged Peirs. He had a mission of learning everyone's names by the end of the feast.

Maybe it was because he was handsome. Whateva.
Did he hear there was another NEW staffer? Hmm?
It took a bit of listening in and deducing until he managed to learn that the new Groundskeeper was new just like Andy was. Them newbies needed to stick together, no ?
The finger wiggly was not expected, though. Still, Andrew managed to pull his composed and practiced smile for occasion such as this. "It's a pleasure meeting you, sir," Because the name Archie did not sound that familiar and they have just met! "Andrew Walton," he said pointing to himself.

If there had been any staring, the astronomer honestly hadn't noticed. Strange looks and lingering gazes were something he had grown quite accustomed to over the years. Though there were still a few looks that he would never truly grow accustomed to.
"Archie...like the old American muggle comic," he noted more to himself than anyone else who could hear. "That should make things easy to remember." Not that he was particularly bad with names or anything, but it was always nice to have an association to help exercise the cranium. "I can offer you a sampling from my extensive tea collection instead should the need arise."
Since, you know, he had overheard that bit of the conversation with the Headmistress. AND his collection was still in the correct order thanks to the hard work of a certain two Gryffindors in detention a few years back.

Smirk. Likewise. Airey could practically see the sarcarm oozing from Andy's lips as he spoke them, but the feeling was mutual. There wasn't any sort of true hatred between the two of them, it was more that their friendship - if one wanted to call them that - had been out of necessity. Airey had struggled with Herbology and needed Andy's notes and occasional tutoring to pass. Andy was rubbish at Astronomy and thus required Airey's expertise. A friendship based on intellectual need...and perhaps some genuine bromance thrown in on the rare occassion.
"You know me, star-cravin mad over here," he saluted back. The suits really went without saying. Did anyone who truly knew him back in the day doubt he would wear anything less? He tugged on his suit jacket at the mention of Head of House talk. Yep. He was in charge of keeping all those lions in check now! Pretty insane really. Daphne had told him she felt sorry for the house.
But what did she know anyway? She had been a Slytherin.
His blue eyes looked out to the Gryffindor table and.......on sweet solstice. What in blazing comets was going on over there already?

Distracted, he really only half heard what Lolita was saying to him. Something about his outfit being quite the outfit and coordinated well. Or something to that effect.
"Yes, well, if you will excuse me for just a moment...I better go, er, I better go check on what is transpiring down there."
Before something blew up. This WAS Alexa Cambridge in a dispute after all. It was a legitimate concern.

"I have not forgotten, I have never forgotten and I don't sit in a different seat on a whim Josephina." If she was going to be rude after issuing pleasantries then she perhaps should have kept them to herself. "I'm talking to my friend, there are no thorns in my chair you can always sit there until I'm done or you can continue standing. Whichever floats your boat." Really did people have to be that difficult? The students weren't even in yet. "I won't be long."
Not forgotten, never forgotten. Right. Sophia was lucky that Josephina was a patient and tolerant witch and thus would wait it out. With the little one on her hip. She could handle it. Besides, she had other staff people to talk to and it seemed Sophia and Leo were in the midst of something.... so Fina just turned her attention instead away from the transfiguration professor to her other colleagues.

"Hello Cassie. Welcome back!" Because professors coming back for a second term was an amazing feat; and if they came back for a third, then they beat the masses. "The little one," she bounced Septimus up slightly and curled his fingers around her index. "He's good. Great." His eyes of course were taking in the Great Hall - the people, the scenery, the enchanted ceiling.

Archibald rubbed his cheek right after peeking through the door of the Great Hall, as he had developed a barely noticeable stress zit in the past few hours, but it was still embarrassing on his first day.
New groundskeeper who was ... short. Shorter than her, even without her heels, she daresay. But he was adorable, Fina already decided. And his name, she overheard, was ARCHIE, which was like the most adorable of names. LIKE SO CUTE. "Hello there, welcome! I'm Josephina Hadley, I teach Muggle Studies and am also the Hufflepuff Head of House," her gaze shifted towards the line of first year being sorted and she crinkled her eyebrows at the number being sorted into Gryffindor. Had the sorting hat been tainted or something? She would most definitely be investigating this. "Oh and this, this is Septimus. He's a year old and will be with us just until the Holidays." Then he'd spend the remainder of the school year with his daddy. Or Aunts. Or grandparents. Details weren't fully worked out yet.

Her body no longer appeared to belong to a 140-year-old, though it had taken much longer to get back to normal than anyone else's had. She had spent months on a honeymoon abroad and was all the more refreshed for it. Plus, she was not only returning as a married woman, but as a House leader along with Mr. Kitridge!
However, as she entered the hall, she noticed there were several faces that she did not recognize. Airey was, of course, hard to miss. But what of the new person in Seren's seat? Did Bentley retire?! Surely not..? As long as Abraham was still here she would survive. That man made her heart grow warm inside.
Stepping briskly onto the raised dais, she nodded to several of her former-turned-current colleagues before taking her seat beside Anastasia. That is, she assumed it was still her seat. "Good evening, Headmistress. It's good to be back in this place. Good holiday?"
Oh there was a familiar face. "Tiara! Welcome back!" she beamed at the returning flying professor.

And the healer! With some new bling on her finger which she was playing with. "Cecelia! Welcome back and congratulations," she smiled at the woman. So that meant in a year she would be taking time off to have a little one of her own? As Seren had done a year or so before her; and before that was Hecate. So it was someone else's turn now.

But returning to his old school was something enjoyable which was a bit surprising. He did not expect it to be that pleasant but it was. Which was very good news. The familiarity of the castle brought all sort of memories but he didn’t linger around wasting time by feeling nostalgic. He was a practical man.
He made his way towards the Great Hall finding that his feet were moving automatically without waiting for directions.
It was mostly empty of course except for the other professors, who were his colleagues now. With a hand in his pocket and the other by his side, Andrew walked towards the staff table in something of a quick pace.
His eyes did a quick scan of the faces. He noticed first the Headmistress since he'd seen her recently, he nodded politely at her. Did they need to exchange pleasantries? He'd find out soon enough. Next he noticed someone whom he hadn't seen for a while. Flamsteed. Recognition lit in Andrew's eyes and a lot of other things, they had a bit of history, he and Airy did. Another familiar face was Piers's, the herbologist offered a sincere smile towards the charms man.
"Andrew Walton, hope you all had a good summer," he announced himself before occupying his seat.
Speaking of Seren; her thoughts went out to her female best friend when she spotted her replacement and Fina had to wonder how the woman was doing. Did she miss Hogwarts? She would definitely be writing when the feast was over and her badgers were all settled in with their course schedules.
"You have some big shoes to fill." Josephina said by way of introduction. It was true; Seren spent almost as much time as she had at Hogwarts and spent as long as she had in the Arithmancy post. "Josephina Hadley, Muggle Studies Professor and Hufflepuff Head of House."

Just kidding. But the baby was cute. Piers grinned at the little boy and and waved at him with a couple of his fingers. Aww.
Well at least some colleagues seemed to enjoy the presence of the little human. Fina leaned down and whispered into Septimus' ear, wave back to Professors Fuller and Thompson.
You know, for someone's reluctance to hire her friend, Josephina had to admit she was surprised that Anastasia asked Loli back. But she guessed even Annie wasn't beneath underestimating quality to pride. "Loli! Glad you're back!" she grinned widely at her friend.

"Hello, hello.." she said brightly to those sitting - or standing in Fina's case - Josephina, Leo, and Sophia. "I hope you all had a wonderful summer!" Of course, she had spoken to Leo a bit about it when she bumped into him a few weeks ago, but she was going for pleasant conversation all the same. Oh and how so very sweet! "This must be your baby," Nessa beamed at the little boy Fina was holding. Really, even more reason for her to sit down. "How precious! And how wonderful for you to let him visit with us today." Or was he here to stay? The brunette loved little ones and she kept smiling at him until she realized she should probably make adult conversation as well.
And Nessa had returned for another year! "Nessa! Welcome back!" she beamed and then the conversation switched over to the little one in her arms. "Yes, yes. This is little Septimus. He'll be with us just until the holidays..."

New persons got a nod of the head. She supposed she would have time to find out what other loons had joined the staff at a later time. Heck, she had all year
Josephina then took note of Sophia pushing back her chair and was about to make a move to sit down - finally - when something else caught her attention. Was that Hufflepuff robes down there at the Gryffindor table and for the love of Wenlock, what WAS going on down there?
It didn't miss her gaze that Airey was also headed down there, but somehow she felt compelled to also join him. Ian had seen the professor step from the dais and did his best to head her off. He thought it was proper that he be the one to tell her what he had done and without all the commotion of trying to tell it with others around. He stepped beside her and said as loudly as he could muster without sounding rude, Professor Hadley. I need to tell you some things I've done. Most likely, well, most certainly that will make you unhappy with me.

Why yes Mr. Tempus and Miss Brown. Javier did notice and return that salute of theirs with a raised goblet as he took a sip of his water. He smiled a little watching them at the Ravenclaw table from here..

Guess he did pat a little too hard, eh? No matter. Airey was man enough to take it with stride... say what though? "You don't say.." Usually that top hat from his experience when he owned it went with everything. But this Star Man was a partial fashionista, so he could save the questioning for later. Plus he had a little emergency at the Lion table from when he made like a rocket blasted off towards it.

See that little wave? Because Javier definitely did. "That's wonderful to hear." Smiling Javy smiled geniunely at Josephina. She had a family after all, and it had to be with her getting to spend time with them. "Mine was just as relaxing and quite eventful all the same." "Certainly," Didn't even need to ask him twice.. or once for that matter. He beamed down at little Septimus now that he had his undivided attention. Javy was not embarrassed to be making baby noises to the little guy as he gave Septimus his index finger to hold. Piersie was wanting to steal him next, yes? Piers was grinning as they shook hands and he clapped the slightly older man on the shoulder. He was glad they were able to pick up where they left off... two decades ago. Merlin. They were old. "Likewise," he returned the compliment. "I'll have a reason to visit the greenhouses now." Because Seren and him talked, like.. never. So he never went down there. He often went on the grounds to see Javy though (very often), so he could always make a detour one way or another.
Ah, speaking of Javy... Piers glanced towards him when Andy asked who he was. And the sight he saw was quite adorable amusing. It seems Josephina had left her baby on Javy's lap. Heheh. Piers chuckled. "That's Javy. Javier Thompson, Care of Magical Creatures." He was also the light of his life, but he wouldn't mention that yet. There was time for an in depth life catching up session later, since he assumed the Headmistress would be giving her speech soon. "You may remember him," he continued thoughtfully. "He was the same year as me, but in Ravenclaw." His best mate, too.
Piers looked over at Javy and the baby again and gave the little boy a finger wave. Was it his turn to hold him yet?

It seemed that Flamsteed was on his way down to mix with the students. Probably where he belongs anyways, el niño. That left her with just the Deputy Headmaster for company. Fortunately, Fina chose that moment to be near enough to talk. "Sí, y yo tambien.. Glad to see you looking fresh and fit, darling." Of course there was also the child to greet, but before she could get there, Fina was rushing off in Airey's wake and had deposited the child with two of her colleagues. Back to just herself and Abraham, then. Was the food almost here?

Yep. Called it. She loved it. He could tell she was holding back using the L-word. Oh yeah, he was stellar at picking out gifts for people. Once he got over selection anxiety that is.
"This pleases me, Headmistress," he grinned.
Well... okay then, that was a strange way to phrase things. Were they SURE the Astronut wasn't actually an alien, from a galaxy far, far away? Who had checked into that?

He lowered his voice for the last part.
Lovely, yes, he'd do just fine here. Such a nice guy, Archie Milliard. Hmm, a... tea? Bunz blinked at him for a minute and his arm up in the air before she cued in. Oh, he wanted a cup of tea. Right. Well...
"I'm afraid you'll have to wait until just after the speech," she reminded him politely. "The house elves only put out cold drinks before the meal appears." Which shouldn't be too much longer, as students were filing in now....

Have you met Septimus? Don't worry, he'll just be with me until the Holidays." Didn't she remember their conversation about it just a few weeks ago? Brief, but she had warned her.
Oh really, the baby would be with her THAT long? "I haven't met him," she replied in a medium tone, not too loud, not too soft since it was starting to get noisy in here. "But he's cute!" There, she had said something nice. And now... time for the speech, she thinks.

Anastasia stood up and walked to the front of the dais, pausing and waiting for everyone's attention before she cast sonorous on herself. Once she was ready, she began her speech.
"Good evening, everyone. Welcome back to another year. As I'm sure you all have noticed, the weather has returned to normal and the infest--- the horde of chorts from the forest are officially removed." She paused to allow time for applause, because OBVIOUSLY that statement deserved applause. Copious amounts of it.
Next. "We also have some new and returning staff this term... Professor Tanner is back," hopefully they'd know that was Tyner, just married, "and we have some new staff in Herbology and on the grounds. Please give a warm welcome to Professor Walton and Groundskeeper Milliard."
Another pause for applause.
"Now, I look forward to a WONDERFUL term with no problems and a great, friendly competitive spirit in the House points race. Please do your best in your classes and make all of our new students and teachers feel welcome. Without further ado, let's eat!"
And nowwww the food and tea and other hot items were on the tables. Delicious!

If he remembered what he was implying with that.
"Good evening Annie. You're looking quite an extravagant tonight." Which came with the territory. "Hello Cassie. Medea." Javy nodded at each before sitting. "How was your summer?" Turning to his right he was always expected to see Airey in a new type of suit. It looks like he was going for his house of pride in the choices of colour. "Now that's a splendid outfit, Star Man." And of course, "A hearty congratulations on your new position as Head." Clapping Airey's back a little hard unintentionally as he was quite happy for his friend.
Now there was just the other chairs left to be filled.

He clapped the old man on the shoulder (not TOO hard though, because he didn't want to break him or something). Promoted to Deputy Headmaster but he still had to sit on the end. Poor bloke.
He continued on his way to his seat by resting a hand on Javy's shoulder. Then he plopped into his chair beside him and moved that hand forward to wave at Leo down at the end of the table. "Evening, Leo." He'd have to catch up with Leo's love news after the feast.

Walking up the dais on her former seat's side, she smiled warmly when she passed Botros first, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder. "Congratulations on Deputy, Abraham." And no, no kisses this time. Her lips were reserved for her little man in her baby carrier, these days. "And congratulations on Head of House, Airey," she offered him a smile as well. He was looking quite decked out in house spirit; if there was any doubt as to his house loyalty, just observe the attire.
She continued making her way behind the chairs of her colleagues, smiling patting them each gently on the shoulder ... Javy and Piers, Medea, and Cassie and Annie (of course) and approached her seat...
.... only to find someone already in her seat. "Leo," she smiled politely at the librarian before turning to address the seat-stealer. "Sophia. So good to see you again." She smiled politely, her hand on Septimus' back still. "Have you forgotten though, once again, that you teach Transfiguration. Your chair is at the end." Ahem. Yes, she would like to sit in her seat, because toting a fifteen pound infant on her hip in heels was no easy feat. And yes, she did remember Sophia sitting in the wrong seat once before.

Next he noticed someone whom he hadn't seen for a while. Flamsteed. Recognition lit in Andrew's eyes and a lot of other things, they had a bit of history, he and Airy did. Another familiar face was Piers's, the herbologist offered a sincere smile towards the charms man.
"Andrew Walton, hope you all had a good summer," he announced himself before occupying his seat.

Goodness, everyone was pouring in now.
It was difficult to get in one greeting before the next person came along, much less a welcoming start of term feast conversation. She settled with kind head nods and warm smiles to those who were arriving until there was proper time for longer conversations. On the other hand...
OHMYGOODNESS Hadley had brought her little one! Did... she have to sit all the way on the other side of the table from her?

Ooooh and there was the new Herbology professor, he was very easy on the eyes, wasn’t he? She gave him a bit of a wave, but since he was on the opposite side of the table, she figured she’d just wait for introductions, since she had been over there once already. Waves were just as good, yes?

I'm glad you made me go on the trip even if I wasn’t super excited at first," It had done his body and mind a world of good and he had Sophia and her family to thank for that. "The trip actually made me relax more then I would have done if I had visited my parent’s summer house."
Moving to refill his goblet with more juice Leo asked "Do you want some juice or water while we wait for the food to arrive?"
Catching Piers's wave across the table Leo returned it. "Evening, Piers." He’d catch up with the charms man after the feast or if that didn’t work later in the first week back.
Uh oh. Leo couldn't help but think when Josephina arrived to find her seat taken already. "Good evening Fina and little Septimus isn't it right?" Leo said quietly with a blink to the boy in Fina’s arms. He was going to let the two women work the trouble of seating arrangements out by themselves. He was there though if things got out of hand. Hopefully Sophia and Fina wouldn’t start arguing.
One of the newest additions to the staff made his way up on the dais. When he claimed the groundskeepers seat Leo couldn’t help but make note of the contrast to the former keeper Orsinso. Orsino had been big and burly and tall. This man was anything but. Waving friendlily all the same Leo said "Good evening, Archibald right? I'm Leobald Kitridge, school librarian." It couldn’t hurt to be nice.
Smiling Leo confirmed. "Yes I'm glad to be back. It will be fun to see my eagles tonight after the feast." He had something extra in store for them which he hoped they’d enjoy. Dropping his gaze to check out the new shoes Leo couldn’t help but shudder just a little. "They’re pretty Cassie! I still don’t get how you can walk in heels without hurting yourself though." It was another one of those mysteries that surrounded the female population he supposed. "Glad to be back?" he wondered. Why were they repeating themselves? They had talked about this by the fountain in Diagon Alley.
The next woman to enter the dais got a big beam from Leo. "Welcome back Tiara!" he chimed with a wave. He'd see the flying instructor after the feast when they met up in the Ravenclaw common room to welcome the eagles to school.
Cece arrived just a few minutes after Tiara. Gazing flickering over in her direction Leo said. "Good evening Cece. Thanks again for healing me after the chort attack last term. I’m now fully recovered." And ready to take on the new year and its challenges. Could they get a nice and quiet year? No blizzards or chort attacks.
The man who slipped into what used to be Seren's seat caused Leo to pause. He looked familiar. But he couldn't exactly place the man. "Good evening Andrew. Did we perhaps go to Hogwarts together at the same time?" Pausing he remembered his poor manners. "I'm Leobald Kitridge by the way, school librarian," and Ravenclaw Head of House but it seemed like too much to add not that that wasn’t important.
She couldn’t help but beam at Leo, so dedicated as Head of House. It was super admirable to see. “They will be thrilled to see you no doubt.” She glanced towards the Hufflepuff table and smiled a bit. Memories for were fun from that table. She couldn’t help but giggle and smack his shoulder a bit playfully, “Oh goodness Leo, I’m not talking about my shoes, but thank you soooo much, I just love them and believe me they are much easier than flats. Plus I’m so short without them.” She gave a small pout and then giggled again. “I was pointing towards the tattoo on my foot.” Did he see it, it was just super cute. The half butterfly showed bit through her heels. “I’m so excited to be back. I just love the start of terms. Such a new beginning for things.”

Excellent. Javy was mighty appreciative of him being able to pick up on what he was implying. Hm..nothing from Millie.. That was a little sad to hear. His face turned a little equivocal at the mention of Cassie news. "Hm?" Did they have a little run in or something. He was quite curious now on this. "Of course. We'll catch up then." It sounded quite dire with his tone of voice.
..And there was Piersie, Javy didn't pay attention to him just yet until he felt his hand rest on his left shoulder. He didn't need to look up to realise just whose it was. Instead his no longer naked right hand rested over his to pat and squeeze a little before letting go. "Hey.. everything all set?" He knew of the arrangement that needed to be settled beforehand.
Not too long after he felt another hand on his shoulder, this time he looked up to smile, "Evening Josephina. Have a good holiday?" Who wasn't alone. Javy gave her little boy a finger waggling wave, before nudging Piers so he could have a look at the sight. Babies were adorable.
Another one arrived. It was a man, who looked a little anxious. It had to be the new Groundskeeper. Javier gave him a curt nod in return to his wave. "Hello and welcome Archie. I'm Javier, though Javy will do just fine." Smiling a little at him.
SPOILER!!: Cassie
And low and behold who arrived right after. The happily snapping Cassie. Given the mention that Leo said of news relating to he watched as she went over to him first.. His blue eyes squinted a little. Did she just..? The corner of one of his lips curved a little upward. He cleared his throat to remain his straight face. "Hello there Cassie." It was best to not finish off his thoughts just yet, especially once she greeted him. "Oh?" She had been searching for him. He glanced at Piersie at the question before looking back at her. "I'm afraid not.. So what is it?"
Just passing by was Tiara. It was pleasant to see her return as he nodded back at her, "Welcome back Tiara." Before then nodding at Cece's arrival and... hm? Another nudge toward Piers as another man, Andrew, arrived. "Your old Snake buddy is here." Of course Javy didn't personally know him.. yet. He returned the new Herbologist a curt nod before he had seated himself.
“Ooooh it’ was nothing, no big deal really.” Her eyes moved towards the other end of the table where someone sat, but she could ask things to Javy later. He’d probably know if there was something going on between Sophia and Leo. Yes, they were friends, he’d know the scoop. “Sooooo how was your summer, do anything fun?” She figured he did, but it was always nice to ask.

All she knew was that she was excited. As she stepped into the Great hall before the feast was to begin, she noticed that the table was nearly full. Ooooh, was she late? Well, the students weren't here yet, so technically she wasn't and she did love to make an entrance, so all was good.
She supposed she could blame her timing on finding the perfect feast dress. She had thought about going with her traditional Indigo signature color, but soon settled on a floor length orange gown. It was stunning and she knew it would make her stand out. "Hello, everyone!" Nessa simply beamed at the entire table as she approached. So exciting to all be back!! And there were some new faces too. She was eager to get to know them.
Giving cheerful waves to everyone on the other side of the table, she turned her brown eyes at her end. "Hi Cassie!" she sang out, spotting her BFF near her seat and talking to Leo. She was about to give her a wink when she noticed that Sophia was sitting right next to him.. in Josephina's seat. That was.. interesting. She settled for giving the blonde a knowing look instead as she dropped into her own seat. Perhaps their theories were correct after all.
Aww, and look! the new Herbology professor was already seated next to her. "Hello," she smiled widely at the man. "I'm Nessa Glendower, History of Magic professor.. You must be our new Herbology teacher." It was a shame that she hadn't run into him earlier when she stopped by to work in her office. She was still beaming when a flash of light just past him caught her eye. Was that.. ? "Oh my Merlin!" she suddenly exclaimed as her eyes locked onto the Healer's sparkly rings as she leaned towards her a bit. "Cecelia! You got married?!" How exciting!! And she would totes have to introduce herself to the new Groundskeeper on Cece's other side as well.. but she was far too preoccupied with this exciting news! She loved romance!
Seeing her bestie come in and sit she grinned and waved, “Nessa hellllllo” She had just seen her earlier since they were roomies, but she always beamed and got exciting like they hadn’t seen each other in days. Giving her DO YOU SEE THIS LOOKS! She knew they had BFF ESP, she’d know just by the looks who she was speaking of. That’s when she noticed Sophia get up and head away. Giving the woman a bit of a wave she turned back to Nessa. OMG… They were dating, they had to be.. Did she see?

Annnnd then this happened. Anastasia had REALLY not been expecting the red-suited Astronut to come shooting her way like Halley's comet; usually, he stayed in his own little solar system on the end of the table. But here he was, with a PINK Chinese take-away box and an explanation about.... gifts?!!!
"Hi, Leobald," Annie was still playing with her shiny new mug as she greeted the friendly librarian. "I did, thank you!" Surely his summer was well, he seemed to have made a full recovery from that little... snafu in the forest last year.
"Hello Medea," Annie returned the woman's greeting, even though they had just seen each not THAT long ago --- or so it felt.
"Javy!" she smiled pleasantly at the Creatures teacher, "Thank you. You look quite nice yourself." Dressing up for his Piersy, no doubt. Hehe.
"Good evening," Anastasia returned Sophia's and Ab's greetings with one of her own.
"Archiiiiiiiiibaaaaaaaald," Anastasia would have stood up and greeted the new groundskeeper, a former Housemate of hers, actually. "How ARE you?" Aww, look at him. So cute and nervous. Only cute because he was little, see. "Please, have a seat next to me!" RIGHT THERE, in the totally not cursed chair.
She beamed at him and poured him a water without his asking. Because she was SO KIND.
To new people.
For now.
Oh look, look who else was here. "Mrs....Tanner," Annie greeted the SUPPOSEDLY, MAYBE going to teach Flying instructor. "My holiday was fine. How was your.... sabbatical?" Sure, that was what she could call it.
Well well well. If it wasn't a STILL SORE loser trying to ruin the good mood already. "Don't be sore, Til--er, Murdoch," she more or less announced called Cece out. No, she wasn't still bitter about how rude the Healer at been at their last feast....... not at all................
And look who else was here. Mmmmhhmmhmmm. A former housemate... of her younger brother's. AND an accomplished Herbologist. This would surely be a good term with this handsome handy man out in the greenhouses. She gave Andy a frienddddly wave.
"Hiii," Bunz was feeling just so friendly for now. She didn't miss Fina come in with her BABY though. Um. What was THAT doing at the feast? This was giving her flashbacks to Lafay all over again.
Her attention back on Annie she smiled sweetly at the headmistress. ”Why thank you, I bought it on one of my shopcations this summer. That it was just perf for the beginning of term.” It wasn’t her usual bright colors but it was just too adorbs not to get. “Summer was fabtastic, but I’m soooo excited to be back with all the students.” She snapped happily.
SPOILER!!: Archie
I don't know where his post went
He was just adorbs wasn’t he? “Welcome to staff, I know you are just going to have the best time. It’s a wonderful thing to be part of.” She was just on cloud nine even talking about it. Taking his offered hand she petitely shook it. “If you ever need anything don’t be afraid to ask, though I have to warn, I’m not much good outdoors. Ask Leo how well I do fishing in the black lake.” She giggled a bit before glanced back towards the librarian.
SPOILER!!: Fina
Put missing Post here
That’s when Cassie noticed that she had the baby with her. “OHMYGOD you brought your baby to school.” She snapped and flailed over the cuteness, though she wasn’t sure if she’d bring a baby to a school. So many germs around, but she was soooo excited to see a little bitty baby. “Sooo adorbs Fina. I just love babies.”

OHMYGOODNESS Hadley had brought her little one! Did... she have to sit all the way on the other side of the table from her?
She couldn't help but wiggle her fingers at the little boy. Teehee!
With her attention pried away from the young one, her smile almost turned to a grimace. "Oh, it vos...an adventure, to say the least." They didn't get fined for anything, so there was an upside. "I am doing lovely though, thank you. How are you? And your summer? I hope it vos memorable."
She didn't happen to bring her cute little furry friends with her again did she?
"It took a fleet and army, that's for sure." she chuckled softly, smoothing out her dress somewhat (though completely missing their coordinated colors) as he leaned forward. Oh? She gave a brief glance to the Gryffindor table before she smiled. "Just say ven."
The speech! Already?
She applauded a great deal at the mention of Professor Tanner returning as well as the announcement of their new staff. Whom she hoped to be getting to know a bit better as the term went on. Hopefully. Though she may have slid in her seat a little at the mention of their forest fully back to normal. Ahem. It was indeed a wonderful announcement.
Now that tea was on the table, she sat herself up and started to pour herself a cup.
And overhear a certain announcement at the Gryffindor table.
[/spoiler]
Her green eyes moved back to the headmistress as she started the speech. Snapping as the Chorts talk was given. Thank heavens those awful things were gone. She hated that she couldn’t sense their movements, but now she didn’t have to worry they were sooo gone. Snapping for all the new things she turned to see the food. Glancing for the vegetarian things, she placed her salad closer to started to eat when her green eyes moved back to Medea next to her. “Adventures are always fun though. You probably did some very interesting things.” Her notice of the grimace, though she always looked at the positive, so she hoped they had a bit of fun. “My summer was ah-mazing. I did a lot of shopcations, got plenty of sun, and visited some friends and family.” It was just great relaxing summer. “Oh and Nessa and I got these fabulous best friend tattoos.” She went to show Medea her foot, but bumped her purse. Startling her kittens and seeing Aries jump out and take off behind Medea’s feet. “Whoops” She giggled watching Gemini just look around and then go back into the purse.
Professor Pink | Mrs. Bruce Wayne | I'm on a Goat | Glitterpuff | Dumbledore's Defense Squad | BHB
On her way back to her seat, Annie paused beside the two with the baby. Piers. Javy. Pavy, as they were known. "Cuteeeeee," she smiled at little Septimus, then turned her gaze on the men. "See me after the feast, would you boys?" Not because of the baby, but because she had something to discuss with them.... she gave Piers a pat on the shoulder and continued on.

Oh, Cassie was still talking to her. "A shopcation?" she repeated the word she had never heard. "A shopcation... I looooove the sound of that. You'll have to tell me more over tea in the staff room this term." Yes? Yes. Fabtastic.
She resumed her seat and tucked into the meal now.

Why was Leo talking to Cece right now? Did he not know how rude it was to talk over others like that? After all, there were two other people sitting between them. Hadn't he learned over the years that she did NOT approve of people talking down the table like that? Not to mention, she already knew he was fully recovered. If he wasn't she wouldn't have let him out of the infirmary. She would have sent him on to St. Mungos when the term ended and they were able to get back outside.
So instead of her responding to him, he just got one of her looks. A look of don't be rude. Talk to who is next to you, not to me.

Hearing her boss address her, Cece looked over at the woman. Really? Don't be sore? Who said she was sore about anything? Not to mention, her conversation was with Flamsteed, not the headmistress. So again, Cece was not even going to comment on that remark. She got the same treatment as Kitridge got. Just a look.

Heh.
Haha, seems Cece had found a way to get Airey all riled up. "Oh calm down Flamsteed. No need to get your panties in a twist." Seriously, is this how the man was going to be all the time now that he was the new lion head?
What was this? A challenge? And what why was he placing his nasty, childish looking hanky on the table right in front of her? Seems Cece's comment about the house cup really got his panties in a twist. "Oh you're so on Flamsteed." Her snakes were going to leave those lions in the dust this term. "And no trying to duck out of the end of term feast either when you learn just what it is you'll be wearing in front of everyone."
Yeah, she was just that confident that the snakes were going to win this term.

Okay, so it seems short man wasn't in the talking mood. Whatever though. Not like Cece was planning on becoming best buds with him. He wasn't going to last beyond two terms anyway. Everyone knew it was a given fact that the groundskeeper position was cursed.

And then there was Josephina and, her baby! WHY did she have that KID here at WORK with her? "What's with the kid at work with you Hadley? Couldn't find anyone to keep him for you?" And Truebridge wasn't really going to let that kid stay here now was she? It's not like this school was a daycare for those staffers who couldn't find proper care for their children while at work. Not to mention, what was Hadley planning on doing with the little curtain climber while she was actually working, as in teaching lessons or doing her head of house duties? Surely she wasn't planning on the kid being in her classes with her.
And the woman is lucky the healer can't read minds. Just because she went and had a child right after getting married didn't mean Cece was going to do the same thing. No. Cece was nothing like Hadley, who didn't even take her husbands last name after getting married. Makes a person wonder, is she really married, or is it just an act so no one knows she's a single mother? Or maybe the woman is so ashamed of who her husband is she doesn't want anyone to know his name.
Cece's guess would be Josephina wasn't married at all.

Delicious!

And apparently the boring was over since Professor Morgan was now yelling down the table at her. Again, another professor who got a look. If the woman wanted to know about her summer, she would have to come to her office later and talk with her there.
For now though she needed to go down to the snake table and see just what was going on there.
Yes Bellaire, we see you being nasty to one of our new house members.
