The school staff take their meals at a long table on a raised dais at the back of the Great Hall. The usual Hogwarts crest hanging behind them has returned, fully restored and looking brand new. The staff are also happily using the school's real silver silverware and heavy plates and goblets as they dine.
You may approach them for conversation, but they deserve a peaceful meal as much as anyone else.

AH! There was his soup!
Wiggling his fingers towards the vessel and pulled it towards him so he could ladle himself a healthy serving soup. Sweet solstice, the bowls here were tiny. He was going to have to have at least 5 servings before he was satisfied. "Oh, good day, Miss Wright," he smiled at the Ravenclaw. "The majority of them. Found them all thrown in a box on the grounds as if they were the Sunday rubbish, so they are off to the muggle dry cleaner's for a bit of sprucing up." Returning the ladle to the vessel, he dipped his spoon into the bowl and glanced up at the girl. She wouldn't mind if he had had a spoonful or two while they talked, would she? There were some fine looking rolls just there if she was feeling a bit peckish.
"Something I can help you with?" he asked, reaching for the basket. "Roll?"

Oh good, Flamsteed had been able to get most of his suits back! Penelope smiled at the professor. "Stellar! Unfortunate that Hooksteed threw them out, though. Did you get Pebbles back?"
Yes, there was something that she wanted to ask the astronomy professor. She hadn't come here just to ask about his suits. "I would like to get permission to study in the observatory after hours, professor." Stargazing was better at night. Was Professor Flamsteed offering her a roll? "No thank you, professor."

Stellar. Heh. The professor was always pleased, and amused, when students began picking up on his mannerisms. The most noticeable, besides the very Ravenclaw he was speaking to who had her own lint roller, was Mr. Tempus. But he and the Hufflepuff had bore a striking resemblance long before mannerisms were picked up. "Yes, well, I still look back on all that with a grin...for whatever reason," he chuckled. "I did, actually. Mr. Tempus had been keeping her. So she is back safe and sound."
He took another look at his soup and popped another spoonful into his mouth. "Mmmmhmmmm," he somewhat grunted before swallowing. And no roll for her. No problem. He would just use it to dip into his soup then. "Certainly, but if you will be so kind as to indulge me, what is it that you are planning to study exactly?"

Pebbles had safely been returned. "Sounds like Mr. Tempus did a stellar job taking care of Pebbles. A perfect example of respecting Pebbles, rule number three for your class if I remember correctly." Well, it was respecting your peers, professor, and Pebbles, but the first two parts of that did not apply to Pebbles. The last time she had checked, there were fourteen rules in Professor Flamsteed's class. Hooksteed had definitely broken the rule about using equipment appropriately. Locking him in the closet was probably against the respect rule, but locking students in the closet and threatening to throw people out the window was not respecting the students. Pureed food fights were not exactly respectful either. He had not been himself at the time, so Flamsteed could hardly be blamed for the actions of Hooksteed. After the astronomy classes they had been having this term, Flamsteed was going to have to write a new rule about overly emotional Ravenclaw girls. And maybe one pertaining to what Hooksteed had done to the astrophysics lab. Sweet solstice, Flamsteed was going to have a lot of work to do.
What exactly was she planning to study? "I am going to work on some star charts, professor." Maybe he would be able to help her with the star charts.

He threw the Ravenclaw a big toothy grin. Stellar was almost an understatement, but he had yet to coin a term that conveyed the emotion necessary to excel the sentiments that stellar implied. He would put that on his to-do list. "He certainly did," he replied, raising his glass towards the Hufflepuff table on the off chance that Mr. Tempus was sitting there. Or should he have done so towards the Ravenclaw one since he spent a lot of time with Miss Brown? "And I am impressed you seem to know my rules like the back of your hand."
Very impressed indeed!
"OH! What a stellar endeavour to undertake," he applauded. "Her, let me just scribble you a permission slip here on the off chance that another professor stumbles up to the Astronomy Tower after hours." He set his cup and soup spoon down on the table and gave his suit a few firm pats to try and figure out where exactly he had tucked away his quill and parchment in his enchanted pockets.
"I actually...have one last inquiry, Miss Wright," he said as he finally found a spare bit of parchment in his suit and set it on the table beside his bowl. "I received a delightful package from you for my birthday. The cookies were delicious, by the way. But I have to ask why you sent me your...er...shall we say slightly soiled tie?"
Along with a very impressive form of indexing. She could quite possibly have a career in law enforcement or laboratory studies with that skill set. Astronomy as well. That much was a given.

He was impressed that she knew his rules! "Really, you are?!"Penelope grinned at the professor, and puffed up her chest (which, by the way, seemed to be growing as of late) in pride.
Penelope watched as the professor looked for a quill and parchment to write the permission slip for her. "You can borrow one of my quills if you haven't got one, professor." Everyone should always have a spare quill and parchment on them. Or maybe that was just a Ravenclaw thing.
Why had she sent him the tie? Penelope's cheeks reddened. She looked down, away from Professor Flamsteed. "Oh, you can send it back if you don't want to keep it." With that, she ran away from the staff table and ran out of the great hall. She had forgotten the permission slip, but there was no turning back now. She would have to ask Professor Flamsteed for it later, unless he decided to come find her first.

Airey chuckled lightly as he leaned back in his seat and rested his hands behind his head. "Well, I don't believe most of your classmates have my rules memorized down to the number associated with a particular rule." He, naturally, expected them all to know his rules as some of them were matters of life and death - especially for Gryffindors.
"Oh that is alright. I have one in here somewhere...AHA!" he said, extracting a midnight blue quill from his breast pocket and setting it on the table. He began scribbling down on it, in his uniquely Flamsteed-esque handwriting, and looked up when he was finished. He did not pass it over to her just yet as....
Oh no please do NOT make THAT face! Or start crying.
Horror stricken as the Ravenclaw ran off, and with the permission slip still in hand, the astronomer sat in his seat with his mouth hanging wide open aaaaaaaaaand she was GONE!
WHAT HAD HE DONE THIS TIME?!
Folding up the permission slip and tucking it away in his pocket for safe keeping and slouched down in his chair so far that his blue eyes were just barely peeking over the top of the table with his arms hanging loosely on either side of his chair.
No...seriously...WHAT had he done this time?!
