Default Ravenclaw House Table

banner by Govoni

The Eagles sit under a beautiful navy and bronze banner representing their house. Their solid, shiny wooden table is nicely polished with all the place settings perfectly set. The food will arrive after the Headmistress' traditional feast speech. To all Ravenclaws, both new and old: enjoy the feast!

Right now all that Mel was wanting was food and Bryant and neither of them seem to be happening any time soon. Melek sighed and stared at her empty plate. She started to debate on trying to find Annaleecia since they kinda left things off rather rough last time they talked. It had been at least 3 if not more months since they last talked let alone saw each other. Her eyes drifted to the Hufflepuff table, searching the multiple heads that were already there, wishing for the one she longed to see the most... of the Hufflepuffs... She really did want to see Bryant the most but he was Ravenclaw like her so... yeah...
Bryant was a little late getting off the train as he again had to deal with both trunks and his broom, so he entered the Great Hall looking a little lost as his girlfriend had disappeared somewhere in the crowd. Figuring she might have gone off to find some of her other buddies, Bryant grabbed a seat by the end of the Ravenclaw table. He had a nice view of the sorting but also wasn't right in the middle of all the action. Having sat down at the end of the table closest to the entrance to the hall, the tall lanky boy never saw that Mel was already sitting at the table. She was still just lost to the crowd of Ravenclaws, which seemed to have grown a tiny bit since the past term.

After getting kinda bored waiting for the headmistress to make her speech and get the food out, Bryant opened his shoulder bag and searched for something to do, pulling out a spare bit of parchment and got to work folding. He was going to make the best flying paper airplane they'd ever seen, he thought as he got to work folding the paper like he had seen his brother do in the past.

"You're the best, boyfriend."

When Tobes saluted, Soph peeked out into his line of sight - ah, yes. Professors galore. Fuller, Thompson, Kitridge, Flamsteed - all the good ones... except Culloden. Where was that punk? Soph squinted, making sure the potions master wasn't just down the way talking to someone, but he was nowhere to be found. Huh. Curious. Ah, well - maybe he was just late. At least that had BETTER be the case because she and Ethan had a mission to carry out. Despite being distracted by the man's absence, Sophie, too, saluted all the professors. YES. BUSINESS AS USUAL HERE.

"Thaaanks." Soph hopped down from Toby's back, adjusted the bag on her back, and instead took his hand, eyeing the empty part of the table he had taken them to. "We should sit with HEAD BOY JUN," she said the name loud enough for the seventh year to hear, dragging Tobes the little way down the table so they could sit with him. Taking a seat next to him on the bench and delightedly tugging her boyfriend down with her, she informed them brightly, "I have cookies to share with both of you." It wasn't Cat's cannolis, but it could be the next best thing.

It wasn't until he was tugged again, at which point he blinked and looked back at his best friend, that he fully registered who was here.

"Hey Jun," the Hufflepuff grinned, taking his seat next to Soph and waiting for her to fork over these cookies. "Y'know," he added, just to Sophie this time. "Next year I vote we sit at my table for the Opening Feast.............. Cookies?"

Man, he was not quite with it. Probably worn out from all the travelling, he supposed. It had never really seemed like such a tiring trip before; quite the opposite in fact. But tonight Toby found himself rubbing wearily at his face and blinkblinkblinking until he was more or less back in the here and the now. Then he smiled. Cookies please; Sophie-person.

It was true - he was a trooper and always came to visit her over at the 'claw table, but she had never once ventured over to his table for a feast. And... without Mo and Cat at the Ravenclaw table, it didn't seem like there was a whole lot keeping her there just yet... though many familiar faces were now sitting around them who Soph was happy to see - Maddie, Jasmine, and Jun being there were enough to keep her house spirit up for now.

"Help yourself. They're peanut butter chocolate chip, my specialty," Soph set the open tin on the table in front of her so both Jun and Tobes could help themselves, but she noticed Jun had a friend - Soph offered the girl a small smile before someone else stole her own attention.

Jun was minding his own business, seeing as no one he knew had popped up yet. Sure, there were newly sorted Ravenclaws, like the pair over there who already knew each other. Good for them. Still bored, more and more voices got louder but the boy didn't look up. Until he heard a certain phrase he was still trying to get used to. Looking up, Jun grinned at Toby carrying Sophie on his back.

"Hey you two. Having fun already?" He scooted over a bit, even though there was plenty of space for them both to sit down. But now Soph mentioned COOKIES. "Are these my congradulatory cookies? Hmm???" Y'know 'cause PEANUT BUTTER was in them. That made Jun miss Addi and the peanut butter cookies she always made him. Wibble. He'll just owl her later about sending some soon. If she wasn't living with Derry.

But wait, who was she going to hang out with? Louis had left, Jun was going to be busy with his Head Boy duties. Vinnie, though was always going to be around, which she adored. So, hopefully...she had and was going to make friends.

Thinking about 'The King of Rome' as she would say it in Spanish; as soon as she got a glance of her house table, Paloma saw Jun, sitting there, alone...She kept walking, mostly in silence and when she arrived, facing his back, he poked his ribs and laughed, "Jun Mason Kim, I hope you are ready for this year..." She said, in her very fake English accent.

About to go for a cookie, Jun jumped at someone poking his ribs. "GAAAAAAAAAH!" He squirmed and turned towards the person. But only a handful of people knew he actual full name. Whoa there. "I am soooo ready for this year! I already have some things planned," Cue innocent smile. Good. "Are you? Should be an interesting year," And onto introductions. "Pal, this is Sophie and Toby. Guys, this is Pal, my brother's girlfriend," Because Jun knew how red Pal got whenever she started to think about Kai. He's witnessed it before.

Turning his head, he saw Jasmine and grinned at her. "Ready is an understatement. I feel pumped for this term already. Unless something stupid happens again," Can we not have a repeat of last year?

"Missed you on the train."
His tummy was grumbling. Kyroh gazed down at his stomach and gave it a few pats. "Shhhhhhhh. We have to wait till the Headmistress is done talking because we don't really have a choice." Since, y'know there was no food on the table.

It grumbled again and Kyroh was ready to tell it off once more when a familiar voice caught his attention. "You did?? Really? " He grinned. "Cause I thought you were hiding from me. Which is okay 'cause that just means you won the ultimate game of secrect hide and seek." Cause he HAD been looking for his friends! At least in the beginning. "I met a guy on the train with a place name like me! Except he's Paris. And I told him not to eat the chocolate I got you." And speaking OF Kyroh reached into his robes, took out the two blue boxes of fudge flies, and pushed them along the table toward her "That's a good blue for today right?" Now that he was back with one of his best friends, all thoughts of missing certain people were gone.

Anyway, he looked like someone Ophelia wouldn't mind talking to, and so the blonde moved down a bit on the bench and smiled at the boy. Because he looked like he was trying to spot and take everything in too. And that was something in common right? Okay, not at all, but it was the firsties goal to get to know everybody by the end of the term, and knowing people in her house meant talking to people. And by people she meant every person. So hello.

"Hello. How are you liking Hogwarts so far? I couldn't believe it was so big!" Her brown eyes were happy and alert, showing that she was ready to talk. Hopefully he would not be a crabby pants and talk back. Because when her sister was a crabby pants, the whole house was crabby, and she didn't want that happening to her. Crabby on Ophelia was like the Incredible Hulk on some kind of rampage. It was bbbaaaadddddd.
One second there was some tall kid sitting beside him and the next-nope! A smaller blonde girl! Kyroh's lips tugged into a smile. "Hullo!!"He recognized this girl! Not from classes or the train or anything like that, but from the sorting that JUST happened! "How am I liking it?" He giggled. "Pretty well considering the fact that I came back for my second year." YEAH! Now he was an older student. Somewhat. "The castle is massive! It has a whole bunch of secrect hiding places and everything."

"I'm Kyroh by the way." He held out his hand, cause that's what ADULTS did.

The third year came into the Great Hall looking a bit frazzled. She hadn't realized it, but apparently she'd fallen asleep on the train & had almost found herself being taken back to King's Cross. And THAT would have given the young brunette a very bad case of anxiety, which is certainly something that's not good at all. But thankfully she'd just woken up just in time, & here she was now!

Taking a secondn, she fixed her hair & began making her way towards her house table soon finding herself smiling a bit. It was really nice to be back, but it was a bit shocking. How was she in her third year already? Did school always go zipping by like this? It was something she'd have to ask. But for now, hello to the Ravenclaws she hadn't really spoken too much to. Perhaps, that might change...long as her father didn't find out, right? She had a pretty good judge of character..the slightest sign of a dangerous person, she'd run for her life. And that was the plan! Then a certain person who she felt was dangerous had soon come on her mind & from the the looks of it she wasn't seeing him around at the current moment.

'Hmm..he was probably over by his House table with Simon maybe...'

Hopefully that Agatha girl wouldn't hit him in the back of his head again with a plate. It seemed like Ethan got hurt a lot..particularly in his head. Best to listen for any sign of loud dish noises.

Angel was totally tired of the stuff going on at the Gryffindor Table so she thought she's invade Abby's house, who knew maybe she could steal her sisters uniform so that she could sit down at the table and pretend to be a Ravenclaw.

Angel looked around to see if her sister was there, she couldn't see her though Abby was the quiet type maybe she would find her at the other end of the table but did she really want to go and walk all around the Ravenclaw and try and find her sister so she just stood there and decided to do this the easy way. "ANYONE SEEN MY SISTER ABBY VALENTINE?!" Angel thought that would get her sisters attention and probably some other people's attention as well, she was bored and wanted to chat with people.

Samantha looked up as she heard a voice. It was Abby's sister, Angel. "It would be interesting to get to know some more people." Samantha thought. She beckoned for Angel to sit next to her as she said, "Why not come over here? Abby is with me." She waited for Angel to come on over if she wanted to whilst hoping that Abby would not be upset with her.

SPOILER!!: Layla
QUOTE=Lottiepot;11657731]Despite the clear indication of wanting to sit alone by sitting as far away from the rest of the Ravenclaws as it was possible, some girl clearly didn’t take the hint and approached her all smiley and cheerful. Obviously Hogwarts kids didn’t quite take the message quite so clearly.

She introduced herself as the Prefect and Layla just stared at her like she had insulted her. Seriously?! “Layla.” She spoke bluntly, turning back to stare down at the empty plates on the table. She didn’t want to admit it but she was actually kinda hungry and wanted to get the feast over and done with so she could go to her room and brood in her thoughts. Or go bug Sammy. At least she knew him. He was family, he understood her.

“Yeah. I do mind” she frowned before turning back to look at the older girl. She felt kind of guilty as she glanced at her. She was being nice and welcoming and Layla was just stuck in a down mood. “Sorry. I just wanted to be alone for a bit, you know?” she apologised but shuffled along to let the girl sit if she wanted to. Might as well let her talk at her for a while. Might distract her from her hunger thoughts.

It was then she heard Sammy’s name was called and he was sorted into Slytherin. She wrinkled her nose. Two members of the family in Slytherin and she was stuck here among the super smiley happy lot.

Greaaaaaat.

“S’my cousin” she pointed over at the boy who was just going to join the rest of the snakes. How was he so happy?!

Her eyes were drawn to the girl she had sat with momentarily on the train, Sophie. She offered a small smile but it didn’t reach her eyes. She was trying to make an effort after all. And then there were the other two. Clara and Eden. Her new dormmates. Layla could think of nothing worse than having to share a room with other people.

This school was already awful.

Oh boy. This young lady was going to be a challenge. Obviously she was not happy with Jasmine intruding on her personal space. The "leave me alone" sign was flashing with neon lights. And yet......Jasmine couldn't help but gravitate toward the girl. She knew the feeling because that had been exactly how she'd behaved last term when she was dealing with her.....issues. She just wanted to help, but knew that she probably couldn't.

Okaaaay. Not in the mood for company and not afraid to say so. Yes I do know, Jasmine thought to herself. "I didn't mean to bother you....It's just that......" How could Jasmine explain? She was surprised when Layla moved over, making room for her to sit. Somewhat reluctantly, Jasmine sat down next to Layla, unsure how to proceed.

Jasmine remained silent for a while and then Layla spoke. Oh so she had family here at Hogwarts. That was good. She wouldn't be here alone. Finally Jasmine spoke up. "You know this school isn't so bad if you give it a chance. And your housemates, they're actually pretty cool too. So if you ever feel like talking or anything, I'm available. I'll leave you alone now." Jasmine felt badly for Layla, but she didn't know what else to do. She would definitely have to keep an eye on her.[/QUOTE]

People didn’t take ‘no’ and ‘I want to be left alone’ looks seriously around here did they? And the irritated look that Layla was giving the prefect clearly wasn’t evidence enough. Yet still she felt guilty for it, for the girl was only trying to make conversation with the younger and to make her comfortable. Whether Layla actually wanted to be comfortable was a completely different matter. She wasn’t sad about being away from home, she just didn’t want to be here. Did no one get it?

It seemed as if everyone else were up for a chat, discussing their summers and the year ahead. The blonde sighed in response, resting her chin upon the palm of her hand and staring down at the empty table before her. She was willing the appearance of food, even if it was just to shut everyone up so she could eat in peace.

The politeness was even more irritating. Layla didn’t want to make conversation but she also didn’t want to upset anyone. It would look great wouldn’t it? ‘Oh that new girl, the blonde skinny one, she’s such a cow.’ Urgh, people weren’t like that at Lambeth. It was just what? She glanced to her left at the prefect and listened to her speak until that pause. “S’fine. I aint really the conversational type when I’m in this mood..” Yeah. Just a warning. She most certainly wasn’t like any of the kids here, posh and magically experienced. She was from a common family in South London whose brother had dropped out of Hogwarts after one year.

What was she going on about? “I ain’t concerned about the school. I don’t care if it’s the best school in the World, I just ain’t interested in bein’ here.” And that was it. Layla had her own life and this new ‘opportunity’ as her parents had put it just threw a spanner in the works. “I’m here cos I said I’d give it a go. It don’t mean I’m upset.” No. Just contemplative. Did she get that? “Thanks for bein’ nice an’ all.” Because it wasn’t really the Prefects fault for trying her hardest to make everyone feel welcome.

‘Yay she was a Ravenclaw’ she thought sarcastically. Honestly she couldn’t give a monkey’s uncle which house she was in anyway. But blue suited her and it meant that she was intelligent. First positive thought of the day.

Her attention was swiftly drawn to the floating person over at the other end of the table and the Ravenclaw blinked a couple of times to make sure she wasn’t just seeing things. What. On. Earth? There was a ghost, there was a ghost just casually talking to people. Ghosts didn’t even exist. It was just a light projection coming from somewhere in the hall, a pre-recorded taping of some woman talking and it being relayed back to the students. Or maybe this woman was hidden in a room rigged with a microphone being shown to the students as some sort of prank. The poor gullible fools. Everyone knew that ghosts were just a story made up in the hopes that there was life after death.

Samantha was trying to remember what Abby had told her in regards to her family. She looked at Angel rather apologetically and said, "It could be my erm lousy memory but I think Abby just mentioned that you and your other sister AJ were sorted in Gryffindor while she became Ravenclaw. I do know that you have a golden retriever by the name of Rufus."

Samantha then smiled when Angel told her she was glad Abby had befriended her. "Well, I think Abby and I are both determined to make some new friends this year," Sam replied.

As far as Pietra was concerned that was her first and LAST time in the spotlight during her Hogwarts career, she was going to fade into the background from now on. Commence wallflower mode, please.

She glanced around the table slowly, trying to get her heart rate to slow back down as she did, then she just decided it was best to look at Lincoln. So many new faces. "Do you see that boy? Declan?" Pi liked him. He was a nice boy. "He said we would be Ravenclaws!" And he was right, too, see? Ravenclaws. Although it was too bad that Declan wasn't a Ravenclaw too, at least she would know someone else in her new house. But oh well.

Oh. Oh look! She was sooooooo pretty. Pi smiled politely, or what she hoped was politely, she was trying to keep all the nerves out of her gestures, but it wasn't so easy when you were nervous.

SPOILER!!: Lincoln
QUOTE=Shanners;11657708]Declan? Lincoln nodded and pointed in the direction of where he had last seen the guy they'd both talked to in Greece. "I think I'll hunt him down and see if he wants to play football when we're settled a bit more." Already deeming the guy a friend, Linc was sure he'd have the first person joining his Hogwarts team for kicking a ball around. Football. "Do you think we'll make good Ravenclaws?" What was it that the people in blue got up to that meant they didn't belong in the other houses?

Maybe Lincoln should have properly paid attention when he was told things.

Or maybe he should have just been happy that he was going to be able to find a comfy spot in their common room and call it their own. There was almost no need for their mirrors now, aside from when they were at home or in their respective dorms. He gave his girlfriends hand a squeeze, tempted to kiss her nose and whisper how much he really did like her when... well, a ghost happened.

The sixth year blinked to begin with, clearly unfamiliar with ghosts being around, and looked right at her. The Grey Lady. Their house ghost. Oh right, okay. "Miss? Lady Grey Lady?" Whatever she went by. "What does being a house ghost entail?" Did she have a job? Or did she just..exist?
[/QUOTE]

Jasmine spotted two older students who were obviously new. She walked over to them with her welcome face on. It would be nice to meet some students closer to her age. "Hi, I'm Jasmine. Welcome to Ravenclaw. I hope you all will like it here. Where are you from?" OK Jasmine, don't bombard the new students with questions.

SPOILER!!: Grey Lady

A bit further down the table, she saw a young lady smile faintly. The stately ghost returned the favor.

Ahh, there was a proper young lady! Excellent posture, serious disposition. She approved.

Miss Lady Grey Lady. Clearly not very proper. "Some would say there is nothing involved, though inter-house unity and communication are always the goals we ghosts strive for." Though how anyone could expect her to get along with or even FORGIVE the Baron was beyond her comprehension.

"Thank you ma'am. I hope that I live up to the Ravenclaw standards. I'll do my best." Yes she would. Jasmine would try her best to fulfill her Prefect duties.

SPOILER!!: Maddie

Maddie grinned at Jazzy and sat up a bit straighter, showing off the few added inches she'd grown over the summer. "Thanks. I'll be THIRTEEN soon so I wanted to look the part." And it suited her, the short hair. She liked it very much.

"My summer was sort of dull but I did get to see Kyroh and Dima sometimes." Those were the days she liked BEST. "How was yours? Seems you've got a shiny badge now so the end of it must have been exciting." Anticipation to return and rule, yeah?

Kyroh was being awfully quiet, did he know? Maddie stuck her hand under her chin and wiggled her fingers at him. "Freckles, hey!" She was hoping he didn't need a hug right now as Dima was tending to Dot things but she could give him a smile. She could and she did.

"Missed you on the train."

Jasmine took in the new Maddie. "Well you look beautiful and I love the new you."

Jasmine couldn't imagine anything that Maddie did being dull, but dull was relative. "My summer was pretty good.....better than expected actually. And yes, it ended with a bang. The prefect thing was a total surprise, but yeah it was pretty exciting." Jasmine was anxious to get the term started. It was her final year so maybe she shouldn't have been quite so ready to start. It would be over too soon and then.....,

SPOILER!!: Jun
QUOTE=Star-Lord;11657866]
SPOILER!!: Sophieee

Once the three of them were properly introduced and whatnot, Jun yet again jumped at someone being all sneaky. Was it scare the Head Boy day or something? Turning his head, he saw Jasmine and grinned at her. "Ready is an understatement. I feel pumped for this term already. Unless something stupid happens again," Can we not have a repeat of last year?

PLEASE.[/QUOTE]

"Me too", Jasmine replied. "Let's hope we don't have any major craziness this year." Was it too much to ask that they have an uneventful year? Was that too much to ask? Given the school's track record, probably so. Hogwarts was the epicenter of crazy happenings.

SPOILER!!: Layla

Everyone knew that ghosts were just a story made up in the hopes that there was life after death.[QUOTE]

Well okaaay, Jasmine thought. Clearly she was going to have to pace herself with Layla.....and time was up for today. Maybe she would be in a better mood later. Maybe. At Layla's brief attempt to not be totally harsh and rude, Jasmine said, "You're welcome". "Anytime. Not the I'll take your verbal abuse part, but the I'm available to talk part. I'll see you around." Yes she would. Jasmine was not giving up on Layla that easily.

Two members of the family in Slytherin and she was stuck here amongst the super smiley happy lot.

Or....she had wanted to be one. It was exactly the opposite of what had happened to him. But the hat apparently was never wrong so...Dima would make it better! Kyroh gave a little wave to Maddie AND her short hair and sat with his hands in his lap, like a good little second year.

So many people. So many. So. MANY. She watched as the other girl who had been in her and Clara's compartment, Layla? was sorted into Ravenclaw, and she felt more comfortable. Even if Layla had been a bit...grumpy. She smiled and waved at the girl. "Hi, Layla--look--we're all Ravenclaws!" she said, gesturing to herself and Clara. She couldn't help but notice that the girl was still very....grumpy. "Hey..." she said softly. "It's okay..." she nodded. "I'm new, too. And this is all so weird but--you're not alone." She was trying to be nice, and she shot a smiiiiile at the girl and hoped this might make her feel better?

Aaaaand she spotted another kid [Kyroh], and couldn't help but notice how CUTE he was. Ugh. Were all the younger kids at Hogwarts CUUUUTE? Archie...Gwen...now this one?! She smiled at him, pleasantly and such, but also a little nervously. Because younger kids COULD be mean. Could. And then Eden would have to hit them with the sass. "Hi, kid. You okay?" He seemed okay but like he was looking for someone or something.

OHHHH. There was a GHOOOOOST. Durmstrang CERTAINLY didn't have those. She was fascinated by them. Her blue eyes widened up at the Grey Lady and she just stared. Kind of rudely, actually. She was so pretty and transparent--physically transparent. Not...anyways. She leaned back in her chair. "We have a...house ghost?" she asked, finally getting the courage enough to speak to this ethereal being!

And then. There was Jun. HEADBOY Jun. Whoah. That was so cool...Connor's best friend was HEADBOY?!?! She smiled and waved at him, thankful for her bear. It was neatly tucked under her seat safely so that she wouldn't get food on it. Whenever the food DID come. Which, right about now, seemed like forever. Her stomach was being so loud that she was sure everyone could hear it EVEN over the noise. "HI JUN!" she called out, unable to help it because she KNEW someone else! YAY. She just wanted Jun to like her. Connor did, VInnie did, and she knew the three did a lot together----she wanted Jun to like her too. So she would have to be on her BEST behavior and stuff. 'Cuz...yeah.

And then seated not too far away was the Ravenclaw prefect[Jasmine]. She hadn't caught her name yet, so Eden just decided to be super brave and introduce herself. "Hi--" she said, kind of pushing herself into Jasmine's sight. "You're the prefect?" Duh. "I'm Eden--a transfer--from Durmstrang." She said with a nod. How loquacious she was being. Odd. She was feeling so shy, she was so SHOCKED with herself. Her cheeks were slowly turning red.

Another younger student but this one looked like she felt all comfy here and stuff[Josette]. She smiled at the girl and waved to her, too. Well. IN A WAVING MOOD IT SEEMED. Well. Maybe she looked friendly and not like an awkward seal. This little one was cute TOO. GOSH. She wanted to get to know ALL the little ones...THEY WERE SO CUTE. "Hi--" she said quickly, and just smiled. Awkwardly.

Was Kyroh talking to his belly? Maddie watched with mild interest, wondering if he was going to be disappointed when it didn't talk back. Or maybe he considered grumbling a form of communication. She s'posed that was true. Grumbles meant hungry and that WAS communicating something, even if it wasn't in words. Still, talking to your tummy didn't mean it understood what you were saying.

"Really really." Which was new considering Maddie had never longed for her friends before. Being on her own came naturally but now that she'd met these PEOPLE, she sort of wanted them around all the time. It was kind of frustrating, actually. "I'm a GREAT hider but I wouldn't hide from YOU, not unless we were playing a PLANNED game." She smiled, shrugging her shoulders. What was the point of a one-sided game like that? Winning wasn't winning unless there was proper competition. As for this Paris fellow, he was nearly as interesting as the mention of chocolate. The brunette's face lit up as she watched the fudge flies boxes with eager eyes. "This is the BEST blue for today." Picking up the boxes, she shoved them into her pockets before anyone else could see. She didn't fancy being roped into sharing. "Thank you, Freckles."

"I didn't get YOU anything from the train but I have an entire box of bow ties and you can have first pick." How generous, right? You're welcome, Kyroh.

Maddie grinned. She wasn't sure she'd grown properly into her beauty just YET but it was promising that her hair cut was helping the matter. She also wasn't sure how NEW she was. Taller and thinner maybe, but still the same Maddie. No matter, she'd take the compliment as it was CLEARLY deserved. "Thanks, Jasmine." This woman stuff was going to be FUN.

"With great power becomes great responsibility." Did Jazzy realize this? The brunette felt the need to share the wisdom, being the sage little yoda-claw that she was. "If you need me to like, keep an eye on anyone for you, just let me know." A wink was given and the twelve year old smiled. Quid pro quo and all that. She'd just need to think about what she might want in return.

"Thank you ma'am. I hope that I live up to the Ravenclaw standards. I'll do my best." Yes she would. Jasmine would try her best to fulfill her Prefect duties.

SPOILER!!: Jun
QUOTE=Star-Lord;11657866]
SPOILER!!: Sophieee

PLEASE.

Awkwardly.[/QUOTE]

Jasmine was a little startled when a girl appeared in front of her. Ah, a transfer student and she had taken the initiative to introduce herself. Brownie points for her. "Hi Eden", Jasmine said with a smile. "It's very nice to meet you. Welcome to Ravenclaw." So she was from Durmstrang. Jasmine wondered whether she might know Cris and his siblings, but thought it best not to head down that road. After all, Durmstrang was a big school.

"I was in your shoes last year. I was a transfer student too so I know how overwhelming this can be. Have you been enjoying the feast so far? Hopefully we'll get to eat soon. The food is the best part." Eden seemed like a very nice girl. Jasmine made a mental note to get to know her better.

Jasmine smiled when Maddie got all philosophical on her. "I will remember that", she replied. Though the thought of her having power was kind of hard to wrap the brain around. Then Jasmine had to chuckle. Maddie was volunteering to be her eyes and ears. This young lady was too much. "Thanks. I'll let you know if I need you to put a tail on anyone." Jasmine was pretty sure that Maddie would have her Prefect job in about three years.

She wondered what her father and her family would even think of this? They always told her she was no good--for various reasons--no good at anything, nor would she ever BE anything. but Ravenclaws....they had something special, didn't they? Eden widened her eyes at the thought and just...pondered this for a few minutes before looking back down the table.

Well. Hi, Eagles.
Someone was shouting his name. "EDEN!" he greeted, almost jumping up off the bench in excitement. His first Hogwarts friend had arrived! "You're a Ravenclaw? YAY!" Yes...yay?! Or no? She had said about the Lions when they met in Diagon Alley. "Yay for me, I mean. Sorry if you were desperate to go to Gryffindor." He bit his lip, sheepishly. "I think you'll be awesome in the blue house, though. Want to go exploring with me later? After the feast, I mean. I don't want to miss my first Hogwarts dinner. Or yours."

She nodded curtly. That was the wise response. No promises to be perfect, just a dedication to hard work. Perhaps this one was worthy, after all. She opened her mouth to say something else to the student leader, but she sensed something, someone staring...

Ooooh. So prefect did actually get the message? Eventually. After Layla had decided to play nicely and not dwell in her own feelings for the entirety of the feast. In all honesty she was quite tempted to join her cousin at the Slytherin table where he could just talk to her and she wouldn’t feel like a complete outsider. She didn’t need to talk back, she was sure that Sammy would fully understand her after all.

The blonde gave the prefect a half-hearted smile, an attempt at reconciliation for most probably appearing rude and unsociable. Which she was, the latter anyway. “Yeah, I’m sure we will. In the Common Room right? We all share a common room..?” Why were private schools so formal? The houses each resided in a separate area which to Layla appeared a little discriminatory. What if she wanted to sit with Samson for a while? If she remembered correctly the Ravenclaw common room was at the top of the tower and the Slytherin was down in the dungeons somewhere. Kinda creepy really.

She wasn’t going to admit it but the fifteen year old was probably going to leave a wide berth between herself and the prefect for now. Prefect was a little too welcoming and open for her liking.

And then along came Miss Wavy with her arms flailing about as she smiled at Layla. This had been girl number two she had sat on the train with. The one she had met after Miss Smiley. She was sat with the Clara girl she had also come across in the bookshop and it was her she was with now. The Blonde sighed inwardly before sharing a rare and unconvincing smile with her fellow fifth year. “Hello.. Eden” she paused as she remembered the girls name. She had tried to blank out the tediously long train journey from her mind. “I can see that” she responded to her observation of them all being in the same house together. Which meant that these two were now her dorm mates. “Guess we’ll be seeing a lot more of each other then.” Three years’ worth in the same room. Torture for the girl who loved having her own space. Still, they weren’t that bad she guessed.

But then came the whole ‘its okay I’m here for you’ sort of speech that the prefect had given her and Layla resisted the urge to toss her eyes. “It ain’t ‘bout bein’ in a new place” she snapped but calmed herself before she insulted anyone who was trying to help. They were all too friendly. “I’m perfectly capable of lookin’ after myself.” It was true. If there was anything that Layla had a lot of it was common sense. She was incredibly world-wisely. “But I s’pose if we get lost we could help each other out..” she added on mostly out of guilt for snapping and because honestly this girl was quite sweet. Besides if she had to live with her for three years she knew that she’d have to try and get along with them all.

The students continued talking to the hologram in the middle of the room and Layla observed disinterested. “Its only a projection” she studied her nails as she spoke before looking up at the female figure floating about. “Its probably a pre-recorded film of a woman that the staff are cleverly projecting into the hall to fool us all.” That was logical thinking. Ghosts didn’t exist.

It meant more time to talk before the feast actually started --when was that again? Her stomach was making killer whale sounds over here-- and more time to make new friends. Eww, Make New Friend's always sounded so kindergarten like. Like she should have her blonde hair in two pigtails and her fingers stuck in her mouth while her mom tried to teach her to read for the first time. And if memory served Ophelia correctly, that first time reading didn't go well. Exasperated sighs for everyone but the kid, and even the five year old imitated her mother, something that caused the parental figure to laugh and allow outside play for a while. But anyway, making new friends sounded laaaammme, even though in practice, talking to people and socializing was generally fun. There was always that element of wanting to be left alone, but that was left mostly to the moments before Ophelia fell asleep.

Anyway, boat ride over? What could she say? The blonde was excited about Hogwarts and scared she was going to fall out of the boat and into the black waters of the lake. The castle seemed huge and the whole place could probably eat her house worth if it wanted to. And furthermore, here she was, eleven and at boarding school, only seeing her parents and siblings on holiday. Not that that was a bad thing. *Winky Wink.* Her whole Hogwarts experience so far pretty much came down to that. Seeing the other girl on the boat platform was interesting enough, but not so that it felt worth mentioning. More of a fun fact of the day type thing.

Remembering her moms term for those stupid facts that came on desk calendars , the firstie felt a tinge of sadness tweak at her chest like a guitar string. Small and easily beatable tears filled her deep brown eyes, and she pushed them back into submission by blinking a bit. Merlin, why was she homesick? The short girl had been so excited to go to this school, and now she felt like she wanted nothing more than go home and cuddle with her mother. Apparently, growing up and maturing were two different things. To forget about her homesickness, Ophelia focused on the question.

"Oh it was amazing! I felt like I was going to fall in and get lost in the water though!" Slight laugh to show she was joking. "And the castle seems so big when it's coming up on the water! How was your boat ride over?"
Tessa giggled, she had truly loved the ride. "Lovely," she said dreamily, "it was so beautiful and vast, I felt I'd could've been lost to sea." She sighed, closing her eyes, remembering the feel of the wind and the smell of the water. "So, where are you from?" She asked with a large smile.

"I think you'll be awesome in the blue house, though. Want to go exploring with me later? After the feast, I mean. I don't want to miss my first Hogwarts dinner. Or yours."
"Archie," Thornton repeated to himself as he made just a smidge more room for the boy. Once the boy was seated, Thornton nodded in response to his question. "Yes, I am. Did... did you say weird about lint?" Thornton's eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"As in he doesn't like if our robes have lint ON them or like, collects lint in jars kind of weird?" One was a quirk of cleanliness and something that had been instilled in him from a very young age. The other was.. well, weird. But Thornton had to know the answer because if it was the first, well, then HE was going to be weird at Hogwarts too. Didn't EVERYONE care about being presentable, respectable and respectful?

Thornton felt a lump rise in his throat, looking around the room and, really, for the first time, watching the other students interact with one another. Casual, occasionally dramatic, informal... familiar.

It all felt very... foreign. His concern was plainly visible on his face.

The headmistress had finished with her start of term speech and thus an assortment of food and drink had appeared on the table. Just as Samantha had piled some food on her plate and poured herself some pumpkin juice, she saw a first year looking concerned. She looked at him and spoke, "Excuse me? Is everything okay? You look a bit upset about something." She hope that nobody was giving him a hard time. That wasn't right.

Rather than listen to the speech, Thornton was replaying the entire day, thus far, in his head. What else had he done that, to him, seemed perfectly normal but to others would not? Several people had already said his name was a mouthful. Was the way he had been taught to introduce himself too... stilted? It was reflex at this point, what...

Thornton's concentration broke as a girl approached him Was he.. oh no. "Oh, no no. Everything is quite fine," he lied. "I was just getting rather hungry, but the food's here now!"

He lifted up his cup and held it up to her in a mock toast.

SPOILER!!: from the Gryffindor table O______O

Oh sweet solstice WHY?! Just WHY?!

Airey kept a poker face as Miss Valentine began recalling events as far back as the Hogwarts Express and just stared at the trio before him. He was taken aback by the fact that it sounded like a HUFFLEPUFF attacked someone from behind. More importantly, WHERE were the prefects on the train when all this was going on? Hmm?

He briefly turned his head towards Mr. Atreyu to thank him for protecting one of his housemates while the second year continued her story and...

......................

......................

.....................

KISSED?!

In all honesty the words that came immediately following this little revelation went in one ear and out the other. Was this what it meant to have a love hate relationship with someone? One minute you are a coward an trying to hex them while their back was turned and then the next minute you are...doing that lip action thing? Galloping galaxies NOOOOOOO thank you. Nope.

The rest of what Miss Cambridge and Mr. Atreyu said was heard and processed, but seeing as the rest of those involved were no longer at the table - and really, he couldn't blame the Hufflepuffs for wanting to be at the Gryffindor table and soak up some of the awesomeness that was them - he took in a nice looooooooooong deep breath before speaking properly.

"Thank you, the three of you for that....er...enlightening explanation," he said while rubbing his temples with his fingers. "I will go have a talk with Professor Hadley about her student." Which may mean that in the future there would need to be some sort of conversation involving all four of them in the future. "Mr. Atreyu, I wish to reward you for your chivalry and quick spellwork on the train." He then turned towards Miss Cambridge and rubbed the back of his neck. He hadn't exactly...sat at his own table during feasts in his youth. Mostly because he had been crawling under them and tying shoelaces together.

Oh yes those were the days...

"Try to show just a little more patience, Miss Cambridge, for those that may be looking to foolishly gain just a tiny bit of greatness through osmosis by sitting at the Gryffindor table." Clearly why there were so many Hufflepuffs over here, right? At least they weren't tying shoes together. Heh.

"If that is all, how about we just...don't talk about this any further," especially the kissing, "and enjoy the rest of the evening. Far too early in the term for all these teenage hormones."

He hadn't NOT heard your question, by the way Miss Valentine, he was just sufficient distracted.

Still massaging his temples, the professor turned and look towards the source of some wild movements in his peripheral vision. "Evening, Mr. Rogers." He remembered his name from the sorting you see. "Professor Flamsteed, or Professor Airey if it suits you better. As your Head of House allow me to welcome you personally to Gryffindor," he concluded with a salute.

And what was this little Gryffindor doing? Hogwarts did have rather, er, delicious tasting air he supposed.... "Playing a little bit of make believe there?" he asked as he decided to sit down beside the boy. "No food until after the Headmistress makes her speech."

Which reminded him that he ought to head back up to the staff dais before that happe-----

SPOILER!!: SPEECH

--ned.

Welp. Yet another speech where he was not sitting up at the staff table. Oh well. He had other business down here anyway.

"Enjoy the real food, Mr. Coeur," he winked as he slowly stood up and shoved a few plates and trays of food out of the way to make room for, well....himself!

Much like he would do in his own lessons, the Astronomy professor now turned Head of House LEAPED up on the table - avoiding all plates and goblets in the process - and casually adjusted his tie. He still didn't know what exactly he was going to say, but he knew someone who ALWAYS gave STELLAR speeches.

"EVENING, GRYFFINDORS!" he announced, not needing to enchant his voice to carry over the extent of the entire table. "For those of you who are new, I am Professor Flamsteed. With the departure of Professor Bentley, I have been bestowed the great privilege of serving as your Head of House." And here was where his paraphrasing began. "Gryffindor, is not just a house. It is an existence and a very noble one. A strong one. History has proven that when it comes to Gryffindor that things are only impossible until they're not! Last term you were the house that came together in a true pride of scarlet and gold and broke the 10 year quest for the House Cup. A legacy I would very much like to see continue for many a reason, one being a rather selfish one in that I do not wish to see Healer Tillst--- Murdoch get to choose my attire for the end of term feast should we lose to Slytherin. We are a house the represents chivalry, bravery, comradery. You must be bold, daring, and attack every opportunity that comes your way. We are Gryffindors! And they are gonna hear us ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAR!"

BOTH ARMS UP IN TRIUMPHANT VICTORY POSE while waiting for others to roar with him YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

But before he could say anything more, he was distracted by goings-on at the Gryffindor table. His eyes grew wide as he listened to the man's... proclamation, he supposed, and he looked around to see if anyone else was appalled that the man was standing on the table.

But rather than see horror on others' faces, he saw those at the affected table have surprise, sure, but then roar along with him.

"Who... who is that?" Thornton whispered to no one in particular.

Ghosts didn’t exist.
Helena didn't need youngsters calling her names at the start of the term. That was plain rudeness. And she didn't even want to argue with the girl, the argument was pointless when it was over a fact--that is she was actually a ghost. And so she coolly floated closer to the girl and passed right through her, maybe if she felt the chill and the goosebumps, she'd know what a ghost was.

And that they were real. She didn't have to be so muggle.

"That is the Astronomy professor and Gryffindor Head of House." She replied, unimpressed by the chaos at the lions' table. "You better get used to that." The murmurs and excited talks about his lessons didn't miss her ears in the common room.

YEAH! Now he was an older student. Somewhat. "The castle is massive! It has a whole bunch of secrect hiding places and everything."

"I'm Kyroh by the way." He held out his hand, cause that's what ADULTS did.
"Ooh, cool name!" She returned the handshake and continued her smile, happy that he no longer seemed unhappy. See Kyroh, Ravenclaw was fun. But back to the name. It was interesting, a cool kind of interesting that made Ophelia think of pyramids and such. The younger girl wondered if there was any relation to that city in Egypt that her sister read about --and then naturally bragged about knowing-- the one that had the capital and the pyramids and all of that. Whatever, she was too tired and too hungry to think about Egyptian landscapes right now. And also, she was in Scotland, so for the time being, there was literally no need. Except to possibly ask him. Which would happen later. Probably. If she remembered. She wouldn't.

"Well, if you didn't come back we wouldn't be having this conversation!" Yeah, she wasn't good at conversation with people outside of her family. Finally pulling out the finger that had been caught in a mess of blonde hair, she hoped she wasn't being too bad at conversation. Because she was trying to MAKE friends here, not scare people off. Also, hiding places? Because that sounded reeeeeeaaaaallllly cool. Thinking back to all of the candy and stuff in her bag, the brain behind Ophelia's brown eyes went into overdrive thinking of all of the places she could hide candy. As long as it didn't get ridiculously hot, she could have a cavalcade of candy all around.

"I saw how big the castle was when I came over in the boat. Man, it looks cool in the dark, doesn't it? I wonder if anyone ever fell into the water when they were doing that?" Hahaha, because that would be awful. No seriously, awful. Having to go through the whole ceremony with a wet outfit on because you couldn't sit in a boat properly? Her mother would have screamed.

Oh it was lovely! It was actually pretty cool to see the castle like this. It almost made Ophelia wish she was a first year every year. Because next year they would have to go in plain old carriages, and that would be boring. Also, beautiful and vast. Perfect ways to describe what felt like a never-ending lake touched with the black sky. Wow, she was a poet and she didn't even know it. Yeah, she was going to have to agree with Tessa on this one.

"I know! It was so amazing wasn't it! I almost wish I could be a first year every year to see it again and again!" Oh well, at least she had her memories of it. And yes, Newton described it perfectly when the older sibling described the journey to the younger one. It was just as cool and scary as she imagined. Seriously, the castle seemed to loom above them, which was weird for such a beautiful place. In fact, Ophelia was too excited to actually worry if she was Ravenclaw material. That would be tomorrow in class, when they had to answer questions and everyone would see that she wasn't exceptionally smart. But she would cross that bridge when she got to it, because that bridge was not going to be fun.

"I'm from Westborough England! Born and raised!" Another giggle. Wow, talking to people was easy. Especially Tessa. This was fun! And they could both be in the same house, so they could talk a bunch too! How exciting was that?
