The class hasn't changed this year too: the proper chairs with soft cushions are still there to sit and lean back on, and they are still charmed to take the most comfortable shape and height once a student is seated. The walls are still a soft, calming blue. There are still one big, grey rubbish bin by the door and a white, porcelain washbasin with a tap for those who wants to wash their hands before/after the class and who can't perform 'Aguamenti' charm (a short hose to direct the water to the cauldron is on the white, porcelain shelf hung on the wall, in case it doesn't fit the washbasin).
Professor Cosgrach is sitting at his desk, looking a little tired but well otherwise.
OOC: If you are going to RP your characer use the washbasin or the bin, you don't have to take Cosgrach's permission. Just assume he has granted it.
The class HAS begun, so please don't post yourself late but pretend as if you've been here all the time.
Potion Progress
1 jobberknoll feather
half a unicorn tail hair
three leech head
half a ginger root
ten carrots
a bunch of knotgrass
one wormwood
ten crow feathers
one common spider
two crocodile teeth
Add the jobberknoll feather without any water or fire
Lay half the unicorn hair onto the feather vertically.
Add a litre of water
Add the leech heads one by one
With a metal stick, stir it clockwise for ten times (Clean the metal stick before and after using)
Add half the ginger root
Wait for two minutes
Add ten cubes of ice all at once
Wait until they melt and grate five of the carrots in the meantime. Add the ungrated ones at once, and sprinkle the grated ones
Tie the wormwood around knotgrass and add them (If everything has been right, the steam will make you nauseous)
Stir eleven times clockwise with wooden stick. Do clean it before using.
Add two crow feathers. Stir once clockwise with metal stick. Add another two feathers and stir clockwise with metal stick again. Go on like this until all feathers are added. Do not stir after the last couple of feathers. (You don't have to remove metal every time to clean it - just keep it inside the cauldron until last feather is added.)
Add the spider
Add one crocodile tooth, wait until the potion grumbles, then add the second
Wait until the potion turns your favourite colour (takes about 3 days)
Colour: is the favourite colour of the person who's looking at it
Effect: It makes you hate the first person you see, sharpens your tongue: you are very ready to point out the faults of that person
The taste is bitter and will remain for a day
Duration: Depends on the drinker - if they are prone to hatred, it'll be longer (roungly 3-5 hours)
Effect on drinker: He/she will experience fatigue once the effect wears off

His favourite subject, his least favourite professor. Great combination huh?
Kevin entered the classroom with his head held low and he seemed to be thinking intently. He had talked or rather listened to his new Head of House's speech about his personality. He was so lost in thought that when he walked by the Professor's desk he even mumbled an "Hello" and walked , still deep in thought to a desk.
Hugo wasn't sure how to feel about this class. From the name it sounded cool but a bit difficult. Maybe, just maaaybe his opinion was going to change after this class.
The first year made his way to the classroom, with his cauldron hanging on one hand. Everything he need was inside of it. He entered the room. It looked nice and not scary at all. As he had imagined it. The boy washed his hands and then spotted the professor. Very serious. "Hello...professor" smiled a bit and went to find a seat beside a random person. Carefully he placed his cauldron on the floor.

Potions. Maddie LOVED Potions. She loved brewing them and reading about them and figuring out WHY certain ingredients were necessary. It was like cooking only COOLER and it DIDN'T make her feel like some house elf either. This was FUN.
The second year entered the classroom confidently, taking note of the man at the front FIRST. "Hello Professor! Good to be back." She couldn't WAIT to see what they'd be doing today. P.S. She didn't need to use that basin at ALL. Aguamenti PRO over here.
Spotting an older Ravenclaw in the middle row, the brunette took up the space RIGHT next to him. She busied herself with organizing her things before she took the time to really LOOK at him and NOPE, never seen this one before. An enigmatic older claw was ALMOST as interesting as this class was.

Alright potions!
Lex slipped into the potions classroom with a lazy swing to her step. It'd been a long walk down here from where she was coming from and she didn't see the need to rush it. Eventually she'd get there and that eventually proved to be now. Not too bad, people were still arriving and the Professor was still at his desk. "Good day Professor." Lex might have suggested a sleeping draught or two for the worn looking man but he was the potions expert. He knew what he was doing.
Greeting aside, Lex took up her usual seat in the middle of the room. Close enough to see but far enough to be away from eager idiots. When cauldrons started exploding that was all good and fine until they did right next to hers. That's when all the problems would start.
Ready for the lesson!

Though Soph had been dreading this class earlier in the term, today she felt... much better about it. Culloden had gotten over himself and they'd made up - he apologized for insulting Tobes and all - and she'd never even had to tell the Hufflepuff anything had been wrong. She counted that as a major success in their relationship, really. What the boy didn't know Culloden had said about him couldn't hurt him.
When she entered the classroom, though, most of the students were already there, and Sophie's gaze first landed upon Tobes, then Culloden.
...Even though they'd made up, Soph still felt a sense of needing to protect Tobes from Culloden. Just a little. And as she looked to where she usually sat - Merlin, since when did any kids voluntarily sit in the front in potions' class? She was usually always one of the lone kids so close to the professor's desk. Today, the many new faces didn't know they had crowded the area she usually sat in, and she gave a helpless sort of look to Culloden.
Well. She... could survive one class of the whole year not sitting in that seat right by his desk, couldn't she? ...Couldn't HE?
She offered him a regretful, helpless sort of look anyway, and chose to sit exactly one seat away from one Tobias Tempus, the one seat in between them being saved for someone she figured Tobes would want to sit with. "Kyroh's gonna sit here, yeah?" That's the way she wanted it to be, at least. They'd look out for the little Ravenclaw together, and she smiled at Tobes to let him know that she DID want it that way (and she wasn't sitting away from him for any worrying reasons) before unpacking her cauldron of equipment and doing her usual pre-class cleaning of everything she usually needed.
Alright now! Time for Potions. And Cutty was prepared, though his customized kit was packed into only a small carpet bag of sorts. He'd charmed it, with the help of Professor Flamsteed to extend on the inside and he'd packed a numerous supply of clean stirring tools, cutting surfaces, knives, weight measures, and small non-magically reactive cups for pre-measuring out the liquid ingredients. Hehehe. Just like a cooking show host. Not to mention his usual cauldron, plus a high heat one. It was so nice to have your own money. He as even able to make a bit extra at the summer camp program thanks at least in part to the camaraderie potion.
So with a large and possibly even sincere grin, he waved over to Cosgrach Culloden and greeted him. "Good afternoon, Professor." To Cutty he seemed a bit...tired, but he wrote it off as madman research. He must have been on the brink of some discovery. Cutty was determined to find out what that was.
The fourth year snake pulled up a seat next to one, Beverly Wayne and flopped into his seat which immediately responded to his presence by shrinking at the back, curving at the sides to accommodate his customary way of sitting deeply into chairs. Either it came with it or Cutty had willed a spinning ability to the chair he occupied and he turned in his seat to greet Beverly. "Wayne." Head nod.

Benny felt a little weird but not a bad weird. The Gryffindor wasn't thinking of what could go wrong or what crazy ingrediants they might have to mess with during the course of the lesson. Nope, he was thinking on it being a good day and a good class and he was happy. He looked quizzically at his best friend at his question following the returned greeting. "Of course..." he said matter of factly.
Why wouldn't he be okay?
"Hey AJ," he greeted his fellow lion back happily. Now Adi would be happy as she sat down beside the Hufflepuff. And then there was Angel appearing shortly after. "Hi Angel," Benny greeted with a smile. And look...she was sitting next to him which was nice. Another reason to be happy.

Was he unsure of his greeting or? "That's generally an appropriate response. You could have said hi or what's up, too." Or given a bro nod. He was a bro. Maybe. Did bros were glasses? Maddie was still wondering about this macking business so she wasn't too well versed in all things bro just yet. She'd find out, though. She was also wondering if his specs were a fashion statement or for honest to goodness eye problems. Hm.
Smiling big, the second year got comfy in her chair and WATCHED him. Just watched. They weren't meant to talk too much before class, didn't he KNOW?
YO! he was here. No one panic or cause a disturbance everything was going to be okay! Nodding to the professor he offered the man a smile and a small wave. he wasn't all about talking today so that much wasn't going to happen. He kinda made it a thing to try to not sit next to Beverly in classes on account of he'd never get anything done sitting next to her So when he spotted his pal Gabe seeming distressed be made a beeline towards him and the young girl next to him. He made sure to walk by Beverly briefly on his way towards Gabe and he was sure to shoot her a wink. heh, she was cute, okay.
Gabe though.. was he okay? He set his things down on the opposite side of Gabe, making him sit in the middle of the two of them or you know they could switch spots and Jeremiah would ignore the short one. that was a possibility too. "youokay?" was she bothering him?

Skipping into the classroom, she waved to Professor Culloden. "Hello, professor! I hope you are well today!" She sure was. Beaming at everyone she found her seat and started setting everything up.

"You're different,'' Adi informed Benny, coming straight to the point. Benny got more eyeing from the Hufflepuff. "You sure you're okay? Did you sleep properly? Feel sick? Got the fever?'' Maybe the Dragon was delirious. Adi reached out his left hand to the other boy's forehead. "No fever,'' he determined. What was wrong with Benny? O_O Hellooo, he was considered about his friend.
Time for potions class. He actually enjoyed this class. It almost reminded him of cooking. You needed to be precise in following directions in order to get the best end result. As he made his way to the classroom with his bag hung over his shoulder, he noticed other people made it to the class as well. It seemed a lot of people wanted to come to potions. He noticed Adi, Cinna, Lux, Grayson, Goldilocks but he didn't see Bay or his girlfriend yet. They may come later. They all got nods and waves. He even turned around and noticed the professor was in the room.
He smiled and greeted him with the famous, "Good Day Professor. I trust you are well.." Then he made his way to his seat and start shivering. He wished he brought some gloves with him.

POTIONS! Potions class. Finally. He had been looking forward to it all week long and now he was sort of running late. It wasn’t his fault that he had fallen asleep in the great hall. Slightly red in the face from the running with potions kit in tow, Kyroh burst through the door.
“Hullo Sir!!” Big grins for the Potions Master. That meant no getting mad at him please, okay? Instantly the second year made his way to sit beside his Protector but stopped. Oh. Sophie was there so- standing on his tippy toes he noticed a desk between them?
“Can I sit here please?” Uh…yeah? Please? He had never really spoken to Toby’s Sophie before but they’d let him sit there right? Scurrying over he plopped down on the seat and began to take his stuff out.
They couldn’t make him leave if he already had everything out after all.

Ah, potions. Kevin's favorite subject and Bart's favorite subject and--Well, a lot of people's favorite subject.... Come to think of it, how come so many people loved potions? It's always so tedious, just like Arithmancy. AND it was pretty confusing with all the particular steps, like divination. Not to mention, Professor Culloden. That guy was a big-fat meanie face. He had threatened to take over the Bentley Scented Bed!!! Except, well, he never did? Which-- Hold up. How come he never came for it, HMMMM?
Aaaaaaannnnnndddd Zander was more than just a bit disappointed to find out that the guy wasn't fired. Not because he should be fired, but mostly because that meant that his seat at the feast wasn't actually for Beautiful Bentley. Which also got Zander thinking about Beautiful Bentley again, which in turn *WIBBLES*. No. She was not gone. Just a temporary leave of absence so that she could have time to explore the world and find herself. That was all. She'd be back before the first snowfall. Yup.
Anyways. Back to Professor C. The Gryffindor was still pretty upset about the whole bed ordeal, as one could imagine, but then again... The guy did give him some great liquid luck.... And Zander wouldn't mind getting some more of that stuff... It should've really been called LIQUID HAPPINESS AND ALL GOOD THINGS THAT COULD POSSIBLE COME INSIDE OF A SMALL LITTLE JAR BECAUSE MERLIN. Ahem. Right anyways.
That is exactly why Zander Adair walked into the room with a small smile. Not because he was looking forward to the class (which he wasn't) and not because he was happy to see Professor Culloden (which was meh), but because maybe, just maaaayyyybbbeee he could get on the guy's good side again (if there really was one) AND GET SOME MORE LIQUID LUCK!! So right. Ahem. "Hi Professor," it took every ounce of his being to be smiley towards the guy. A) C was a scary man B) The bed thing -____-
Why did all of his friends already have people to sit with? Hmph. OI, KEVIN!! And with that, Zander made his way towards his fellow Gryffindor Goober.

Professor Potions was probably SUPER GLAD to see Zahra back in his class. Right? haha no. No probably not. BUT he didn't get a choice in the matter, same as Zahra so they'd both just have to survive.
...Zahra chose her seat wisely, next to the new Gryffindor.

Anyway. It was compulsory. So here he was. He'd de-glittered his outfit after Professor Glam had REPRESSED him, but he was totally rocking the look anyway. Even if it HAD required a few tweaks...
Phoenix found himself a seat and sat down, looking round the room and imagining it becoming some kind of video game. It might be one when you had to find something... Or... maybe you'd find a secret door and have to fight a monster or something and there'd be a treasure chest......

Oh, Merlin.
How is it that it's been a month or so since school had began and he was still not adjusted to the sleeping schedule. He yawned so big he almost looked like a lion roaring. He wasn't a lion though, he was a badger. What kind of noises do badgers make??
Those thoughts aside, he sluggishly walked into the potions classroom to find that the professor looked like he wasn't feeling all that well either, "Good day, Professor." The seventh year greeted, "Feeling alright?" He asked, hoping that he wouldn't take it the wrong way being that was sincerely asking if he was okay.
Dec stifled a yawn that was creeping up on him again as he looked for a seat. Everyone was flooding towards the back and the front, so he took a seat in the middle of the class next to the Head Girl. Entertainment from all around.

Hayden didn't quite skip into Potions, but she did have a smile resting on her face. She really liked Potions. In fact, it was one of her favorite classes at the moment. And she really liked Professor Culloden. So she smiled and greeted him cheerfully when she walked in. "Hello Professor." She went to take a seat in a very comfortable chair and began to set up her stuff as she waited for class to start.

Casper wasn't one to admit to liking class--or much of anything else--but under duress he might concede potions to be his favorite. It was neither his best nor his worst class, but certainly his most-relaxing. He would say it was the chairs, and his parents might venture to attribute it to his blood, but no matter the cause he always smiled as he approached the dungeon classroom and today was no different.
As he crossed the threshold he both needlessly bowed his head–the very notion of hitting his head on the arch was laughable, considering his height–and bade Cosgrach a quiet greeting. “All right, Professor?”
Hesitation came next as observing the present student body gave him pause. The first to catch his eye was Marigold–to be avoided at all costs. The second was admittedly a kinder sight: that of Cutty, friendly housemate and part-time clothing burglar. Choosing a chair directly behind the latter was commonsense, though much to his chagrin the four legs of the plush seat began to elongate as he claimed it. He'd have a growth spurt soon. Probably. Maybe. Hopefully?
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Still deep in thought, the for once silent Gryffindor got ready for class by placing his cauldron and other things he needed on the working space. It didn't take him long before he was ready and soon Kevin leaned back in his chair, still in thought. That was why he hadn't even noticed that his friend walked towards him and it took him exactly 4 seconds for him to realise that he had company. The third year looked startled for a second, his eyes widening as he jumped a bit but of course his voice was something else "Ya! Say something next time...geez"
Puck was toughing it out right now. This room, this dungeon was dark and there were some gross spots and she had noticed some gross parts on the wall of the dungeon levels as she had made her way to the potions dungeon classroom. Okay, she needed to do well in this class yeah? Because potions looked like it could be fun.
Oh, hey look there was Divinations girl…she grinned over to the girl and walked closer to the girl and the other Gryffindor boy she was sitting next to. “Hey,” she grinned over to both the girl and the guy in question. “so he’s tough then?” she asked figuring as she had heard what had been said to Pheonix....turning her attention to the person she assumed would be a tough Professor.
"Good day Professor?" she grinned over to the Professor...okay so she wasn't planning on adding anything into her potions, yeah that seemed to be a good idea. She would not add extra stuff and be crazy on purpose...okay maybe she would once or twice just to see his reactions.

Zander let out a small chuckle because seeing Kevin jump was funnyyyy. Not because he liked making people jump, but mostly 'cause Kevin was never the jumpy type, y'know? So yeah, anyways. "You're gonna help me with this potion stuff, right? Because.... erm... Last time I boiled the water wrong and--" Eh, no need to go in details because it was a scary time, okay? "'Cause you're actually really good at this class... And I, well, I even boil water wrong." He only added the last bit in to inflate the third year's ego a bit. It didn't really need inflating honestly, but Zander was just hoping that it'd help the chances that Kevin would actually help him out. Gryffindor Goobers gotta stick together? AND in return, the fourth year would do his very best to keep Kevin from getting another detention. A few more of those and he'd most definitely get into really big trouble.

Hehehe.

"Hey there, girl." This one... oooooooh! Victoria disliked this one, no? Cindrella or something was her name, caused some trouble to Bart. The brown eyes followed her, and was narrowed slightly when she held a seat for someone.
Bart?
He had to keep a close eye on these two. They wouldn't let Victoria down again.

A student knowing what 'cleanliness' meant.
PERFECT!
So she got a wide smile from Cosgrach and his eager eyes followed her to her seat. "Hello, student," he called back, hoping to learn her name. He wanted to know her name. She was going to be a star.
Hopefully.

"Hello, Mister," he greeted the boy with a curious look on his face, but he was also very friendly. Didn't want to scare the little ones and make them spoil all the potion now, did we? This one knew what to do either, unlike some older and experienced students. Well, there was hope for the next generation yet.

"HELLO there." THERE. He wasn't sitting there out of pleasure, y'know?

Another favourite student there.
"Miss Prefect." Hehehe. "It's good to see you." And how she greeted the whole class?
Alas, Alexa wasn't here to see how to be a perfect prefect.

"Hello!" The girl whose name he'd forgotten (oops!) but not her fault. She made a mistake last year, and he conveniently remembered.
Hopefully, not in this lesson?

Marigold, another prefect bound to shine, he hoped. He grinned at her. "Still alive." It was a joke, see? He was exaggerating. He didn't look that terrible...
...did he!?

Students. They would impress better him if they greeted him.

"AJ!" She was THAT one, right? Cosgrach dearly hoped so. Anyway, from now on, she WAS. He was that type of person that never were 'wrong', and anyway, she sat somewhere quickly -
- and ran a hand through Adi's hair -
Having read and reread all Aparecium articles, he knew what that meant. "I won't have that in my class." Go kiss in a tree, just not here.
Were they even legally old enough to hold hands?

Perfect.
Cosgrach grinned at the boy and said "Hello Toby," back. If the classroom hadn't been so crowded, he would have embarrassed the boy by joking about Sophie, but not now. Instead, he politely turned to the next student and wondered where that girl was.
She... WOULD come, no?

Another new face, looking tired... maybe they ought to think of some kind of elevator? He didn't like it that the students looked tired in HIS class, because they needed all their energy. He... would talk about it to Annie. Meanwhile, he smiled at the girl and looked at the next one.

And the twin that wanted Benny... Actually, Cosgrach was glad she liked Benny, because to him, it always looked as if Benny was in the shadow of Adi - the prefect, the social one; whereas Benny was always silent and serious. So he very much approved, and didn't even call out the girl's name. Just letting her interact with Benny, and hopefully make him more social.

Cosgrach wanted to think he was DREAMING, but he was not. The intruder was a male, and nothing like Sophie. He - didn't even know that seat was special? Reserved only for Sophie? First, his eyes were narrowed, then he looked at the poor boy as if he wanted to kill him, and then he felt this terrible urge to move the kid to somewhere else, but there were people coming and he couldn't just do THAT.
But he could make the kid's life TERRIBLE there.
"You've got to greet me. I'm a professor, not your house elf to ignore."
Glaring. Waiting.

What was up with these new people? Didn't they know they HAD TO greet him? Like he wasn't there to be ignored, y'know? Cosgrach was already stressed someone ELSE was sitting iat Soph's desk, so when this one ignored him too, he had to EMBARRASS the boy.
"Hi, you, yes, hello," he called out, one finger pointing at his chest. "It'd be nice if you noticed me, y'know."
He didn't look like he KNEW, so Cosgrach began teaching early today.

Like her, see? Greet him warmly and sit somewhere that wasn't Sophie's seat, and Cosgrach would be the sweetest person on earth. To demonstrate, he smiled WARMLY back and said "Welcome, girl."
See that, class?

Ethan!
Cosgrach would have GRIIIINNED at him, but for the serious nod and greeting. Now HE was concerned. Had something else happened? Was his talk not effective enough? Questions filled his head, and before long, he was looking at Ethan gravely with questioning looks.
If he had to see him, he knew where to find him.

Someone was happy, eh?
Happy people made Cosgrach happy, so the man waved at the boy enthusiatically.
"Grayson," he called and nodded in approval when he sat next to Ethan. He would cheer him up, huh? Yeah. Good friends did that, and Grayson looked to be one.

"Hello," he said back and took a mental note to set things right with him as well.
Ugh. He ought to be Saint Cosgrach, seriously.

Shy, but well educated first years. You know why?
Because they RESPECTED him, but also FEARED him to the point of re-thinking everything before doing it. It was precious and ver encouraging. As this one turned out to be such a first year too, he nodded, grinned (but not vastly, as he hoped to keep that respect) and casually looked at the next person.

Maddie!
Cosgrach grinned at the girl lazily and waved his hand. "'Tis good to see you again." With all her excitement and all. He was glad most of the students seem to like his class. He watched her sit by the new guy. She would hopefully make him more communicative? Huh?

No.
No. No. No.
Was she really going to sit with Toby instead of her USUAL seat for TWO years? But it was folly! He wouldn't even think of warning her if she would be a bully, because see, she would be taking what was HERS anyway.
But she really did believe Cosgrach would be sold to just one 'I'm sorry not really' look, really did sit with Tobias and did really not look at him again.
He couldn't breathe. Someone help.

So, Cutty was here at last too. Cosgrach nodded at the boy (even though Cutty was grinning, Cosgrach found it hard to grin back) and waved back.
"Hello, Cutty," he answered back and turned his attention to the next student.
Awkward moment hehehaha.

Zander.
Cosgrach's lips curled into a dirty smile as soon as he saw the boy, and he even laughed briefly. This boy... oddly brought out the bully in him. Maybe it was the way he always looked so scared of him. Haha. That was funny.
"Hello, son," he greeted him and watched him sit with Kevin. Were they even friends?
World was odd.

1. Cosgrach didn't like this girl.
2. He didn't want her in HIS classroom.
3. She was Minister's daughter.
4. She was the most dramatic person he'd ever seen.
5. So she COULD cost him his job.
6. He didn't like her at all.
When you summed all, you sometimes had to act deaf to some words. And so he did. Deaf. Ignorant. As if she didn't exist.
Why did she exist?

Ah, finally, a sensitive person to ASK how HE was.

Right.

Were they even ALLOWED to 'What's up?' a professor?
Well.
Cosgrach waved his wand and closed the door (yes, he was too lazy to get up, frankly). He turned at them then and got up almost reluctantly. His body was stiff, but he didn't show that... too much.
"Welcome all to the potions class," he said ceremoniously, "I'm Professor Cosgrach Culloden and this is my third year here." He tried to make eye contact with the new faces. This introduction was for them, after all. He briefly paused to see if anyone had any questions about himself, then shrugged.
"If you think I need to learn your name, write it on a paper on your desk." Like, if they wanted to impress him to benefit and all. If not... "Today, we will brew a hate potion. There are several types of it, and this one will make you hate the person you see first." Don't ask him how that would benefit anyone. He was here to teach it.
He waved his wand and the ingredients appeared on the blackboard.
