A large number of floor-to-ceiling bookcases fill up the library, creating aisles upon aisles of books available for students to read and browse. To make finding books for all years a little easier Mr Kitridge has divided the bookshelves into sections like romance, suspense, crime, history, plants and fungi etc.
To return books just walk up to the appropriate shelf and hold up the book. The gripping charm in place on the shelves will take a hold of the book. When you feel a tug on the book let go and the book will fly up and find its right place amongst the other books on the shelves. When retrieving a book you can use the sliding ladders or if you feel confident with your magic you can use a simple accio charm to retrieve the book you want.
In front of each aisle there is small set of desks which students can use to complete homework, copy notes, take book references or chat. Keep your voices down and be mindful of falling books and other students accessing books around you.
So far so good and luckily, the library wasn't SO far away that Maddie was exhausted by the time they arrived. Plus she was finding that her comrade was pretty smart MOSTLY because she'd agreed with the second year but STILL. It was good to have a solid thinker as an ally. Maybe they'd be able to get all the clues figured out quickly after all.
Spotting Peeves, the second year kept at a safe distance and eyed the older girl curiously. "Do you see anything besides the pesky poltergeist?" Seriously, she was NOT a fan of Peeves. He'd called her and Kyroh BABIES and suggested they have flour for their bums, for Merlin's sake. NOT a good first impression and Maddie felt strongly about THOSE.
She looked around while she waited for Coral's answer, hoping to spot the clue so they could continue their journey.
.... Oh.
She'd read a whole lot about Peeves. And she did NOT want to talk to him... or be near him... or really have any interactions with him at all, thank you. So she'd decided she was going to be extra quiet and follow in Maddie's footsteps with the safe distance thing.
Coral shook her head at the younger girl's question. "D'you think it's on a book, maybe? Or on the front of the shelves?" Merlin. If it were anywhere near peeves...
Or if Peeves HAD it, Coral.... well, she didn't like that thought. "Lets back track a little." Also, lets take steps back from the dangerous ghost.
"It's gotta be here somewhere."

It would be extremely hard to find if the clue was hidden in a book, yeah? Maddie figured it'd take them forever to locate it if THAT was the case and she doubted Mr. Kitridge meant to send them on a quest they couldn't complete. The thirteen year old also wondered if there was an easier way out, one that would save them some time.
Nodding her head, the second year followed Coral and kept her eyes on the shelves around them, looking for anything out of the ordinary. That's when she got an idea.
"I heard you can use the summoning charm to get books you want," She said quietly, trying not to attract Peeves' attention. "Think we can do that with the clue too?" PAUSE. "I mean, if YOU want to try." Because Maddie wouldn't admit it but she'd never tried THAT spell before.

She was already extremely pleased with her pairing.
Look at what a brilliant mind Maddie Cooper had! So smart. Merlin. But that couldn't have been the only reason Kyroh was friends with her. It could only get better from here, then. She grinned brilliantly at the young girl. "That's perfect. Great thinking, really." Okay... She'd done the spell before. She just... With Peeves around, she was mega nervous.
Pulling her wand from her holster, Coral took a deep breath. "What should I call it? Y'know, when I summon it. Ravenclaw Scavenger hunt clue? Does that sound good? Specific enough?" Thoughts, friend? Especially since it was your idea in the first place. CB figured she ought to have a say in how she summoned it. That was good mentoring, right? Making her feel good and included and all that?

Now THAT comment made Maddie want to smile. Couldn't go wrong with the word perfect and the thirteen year old stood there proudly, corners of her mouth turned upwards. "I've got a good brain," She informed CB, y'know, in case that wasn't common knowledge. She'd be getting TONS of great ideas from here on out.
Specific, yes. They'd want to be really specific so that they didn't need to stay here for much longer. Who KNEW what sort of trouble Peeves might get them into if they didn't get the clue soon. "I think Ravenclaw scavenger hunt clue is about as specific as it gets." So yes, double thumbs up on that one. Maddie nodded in approval and watched eagerly, hoping that she could remember the way in which Coral-Bay worked the spell so she could try when she was on her own.
This HAD to work. It was TOO brilliant a plan NOT to.

Grins for you, Little Cooper.
"You absolutely do. We're gonna put it to good work today, too." Not that she was going to be doing all the work. Because they were splitting that, of course. But Coral figured it'd make the girl feel good and that was primarily how she treated people.
With the thumbs up from the girl, the older student took a deep breath and spoke the spell slowly, clearly, moving her wand as she went. "Accio Ravenclaw Scavenger Hunt Clue!"
.... MOVEMENT. THERE WAS MOVEMENT. She saw the slip zooming toward her and snatched it before it could hit her. She grinned broadly at Maddie. "We did it!" WOO. She looked over the clue and quickly jotted the next riddle down into her notebook, handing the slip to Maddie just as she was finishing up.
Now where?

Now where?
"We did." No surprise there, RIGHT? They were perfectly smart and capable WOMEN and Maddie had NO doubt they'd be able to solve ALL the clues.
Taking the slip of paper, Maddie tilted her head and read it several times over. "Cool, dark, and dank..." There was only one place in the castle that the brunette associated with THOSE things. "Has to be the dungeons, yeah?" Dank was the operative word here. Other places could be dark and cool but the dungeons were definitely THAT. "They have detentions there, yes? Maybe it's the dungeon you go for detention." She shrugged, reading aloud, "You’re really in trouble if you’re trapped in here."
Trouble+Cool, dark, and dank=Dungeon for detention.

And now that the other girl had grabbed a book--yeah, Eden's eyes widened. "Um--okay--I'm done--" she said quickly, and she started to grab her things. "I do not want to be attacked by a LITTLE girl in the LIBRARY with a BOOK." She said, growling a bit, because, hey, under the hate the potion(supposed to be).
She didn't waste of time, grabbing the empty vial and her robe, and her book, and shooting glares at the girl--but first--"By any chance...did you just take a hate potion?" she asked softly. It would explain it all. Eden had her hunch that she had, but if she hadn't--whoah. The girl was just mean then. Eden would tell her she had taken hers, too...
SO what if she had actually been pretending because her hate potion didn't work? Eh?
"I did not attack you, you attacked me!" Sure, Hayden had a book in her hands but she hadn't attacked the girl with it. It was merely a precaution. One she would not hesitate to use in order to protect herself from being viciously attacked again by this girl.
Oh good, the girl was leaving. It meant Hayden wouldn't be attacked again. It also meant she wouldn't have to be the one to leave, and therefore she wasn't the coward. This girl was. Er, maybe. Hayden was starting to slowly doubt if she really believed that? Did she really hate this girl? She'd never even met her. The power of her hatred was starting to lessen.
Hate potion? This girl was asking about the hate potion. "Yes," she answered warily. What was her point? Why would whether or not she'd taken the hate potion affect anything?
Oh.
The book dropped from Hayden's hand and landed with a loud thud. Suddenly, everything made sense. She didn't really hate this girl. Of course she didn't hate somebody she'd never met or heard of before in her entire life. How could she have been so mean? The 4'4" Hufflepuff girl suddenly felt very small. She stood where she was and stared at the girl, trying to come up with something to say. Some apology that might make everything better.
"I'm sorry." Her voice was very small. Her lower lip started to wobble and tears formed in her eyes. She tried her hardest not to cry and she didn't. At least, not yet.

Eden could see the the thought process she wanted her to go through....going through her head. The realization seemed to hit the younger girl's eyes, and Eden bit her lip and blushed. Yikes. She winced at the book hitting the floor loudly, and slowly reached out to pick it up...and held it out to her.
"I--" Oh no.
OH NO.
The girl was about to CRY--MERLIN! Eden's eyes widened in fear and she just--GAH--she did the only thing her brain could process right now--which was HUG THE GIRL. She hugged her, and she just pet her hair a little, and sniffled, too. "I'm sorry, too! Don't worry--I'm not hurt--I promise--pleasedon'tcry--" she said softly, pulling away, backing into one of the shelves, and looking quite uncomfortable and nervous right now.
She took out her empty potion bottle--"I took mine too--but I don't think I did it right--but I was trying to--get homework credit, you know?" she said before tucking it back into her robe.
Jasmine was glad that Eden had agreed to work with her. There was no reason that they should both be left out because they were partnerless at the moment. Jasmine had already looked at the clue and she was pretty sure she knew where the next one was hidden. Looking at Eden, she had a feeling that they were on the same page.
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?", Jasmine asked. "Let's get this show on the road." They would have to hurry. Several teams had already left and they would want to finish the hunt before time was called. This was going to be fun and Jasmine and her new partner headed for the door.
Eden had SO known where they were going--she could Jasmine did too--"YEP--" and they were bounding down the stairs, running practically, but Eden loved to run and she didn't mind going down the stairs...down was easier than up?
By the time they got to the library, though, Eden was out of breath, which was saying something, because the girl jogged EVERY morning pretty much. She glanced around for the next clue--and saw it--she could see a few other pairs in here already, but that was all right--as long as they finished, Eden would be happy!
Snatching the clue that one of the previous pairs had dropped, she read it a few times, holding it out so that Jasmine could read it too..."It sounds like the duegeons, right? Or am I crazy?" she asked, eyebrows raised at the other girl. Dark..dank...so sounded dungeon-y.

Jasmine quickly followed Eden down the stairs. The girl was fast. Jasmine was keeping up, but barely. Maybe they could go running some time. She might be a good training partner. Yes, it seemed that they had both had the same idea and they were heading to the library. That had to be the place that the clue referred to. Where else could it be?
When the arrived at the library, They found the clue quickly. Eden grabbed it and Jasmine read along with her. Looking at Eden, she agreed with her theory. "Yes the dungeons. That sounds like the right place. Shall we go?" They would have had a great workout by the time this scavenger hunt was finished.

Cinderella was so close to being done with all of her chores. Her step mother had made a deal with her. If she got all of her chores done she go to the ball tonight. How was she suppose to get this place cleaned up in time? It had so many rooms.
She had already done the sweeping, and mopping. Make breakfast and lunch and washed all of the dishes. Now she was dusting these shelves in this strange Library. She hoped she would have everything cleaned up in time. Oh my god she still needed a dress, too.

She had just finished reading another book, so Lux was back in the library trying to find something else to read. Maybe she'd also find a western for Bay since they were his favourite kind of book.
Taking books off of the shelves, she'd read the summaries before placing them back. Some sounded good, but she was in a picky mood today so they could wait for another time. Working her way down the aisle, she was shocked to see her best friend dusting the shelves.
Okay, that was weird because Cinna never dusted anything.

"Cinna? Are you all right?"
Cinderella was too busy to notice that someone was near her. So many shelves to dust and they restricted section, that looked like no ones touched some places in years.
She sighed. She would never get this place cleaned up in enough to go to the ball at this rate. Oh well... Maybe if she hurried she could finish it all up.
Cinna?
Goodness... Not again. CINDERella. Not this Cinna person. She turned her head toward the direction of the voice. Another person looking for this Cinna girl? She must not want to be found. The red haired girl was looking through the books. "Oh, I'm not Cinna." She looked right at the girl and continued her dusting.

If not for the fact that it was over a month early, Lux would have felt as if her best friend was playing an April Fools joke on her. But as it was, she could not understand what was going on. Was this some sort of prank? Or was something else wrong? Then it hit her.

For the first time all term, Zander had a reason to go to the library. Well, more of a motivation to. He had to figure out if Professor Flamsteed was telling him the truth. If Neville Longbottom was really how the Professor had said he was. It was so very important and Zander needed to know right away!! His whole entire existence in Gryffindor house could depend on it!!! Ahem, sort of.
Either way, he had never been more excited to go searching for a book. Except the only problem was... He had no idea how to find it?
So instead of going to the librarian like one probably should, he decided to dive straight first into the shelves. Even unaware of the title he was actually looking for, the Gryffindor went straight for the history section-- or what he thought could possibly be the history section?
Had to be here somewhere..... Riiiiiiiggghhtttt? Ahem.

It was the afternoon and there was no class for a while, so where did Corla find herself? The library.
This was probably third on her list of places to be in her spare time but she was especially feeling the browsing bug today, so she'd made her way in and flipped through various books in search of something new to read.
After finding a lovely little history book on the early ages of wizarding culture, Coral took a seat against the bookshelves her nose already buried within.
She was absolutely oblivious to her surroundings.

The fourth year was now desperately searching the shelves. You know, it might have been easier had he spent more time in the library. Except for the fact that he really didn't get around to looking between the books too often, so maybe that had something to do with it. Letting his eyes scan across the spines of the books, Zander let out a small frustrated huff.
.... Was this even the history section!?
Okay. Maybe it was a bad idea not to ask the librarian. Yeah, okay going to do that now... Going to ask someone. As he walked out from the section he was in, he noticed someone sitting right beside the shelves and AHA! Was that the librarian?
He made his way over to her, slowly and cleared his throat a little. "Um... ?" And absolutely did not realize that it was Coral-Bay, until he finally noticed her face. LOL. Dumb. "Oh! I-uh-Hi, CB... I didn't even- uh," whoops. Zander's cheeks were glowing a light shade of pink at this point and his hand went straight over to mess with his hair. Embarrassing.
But maybe... Maybe CB could help him find the book? She knew history, right!?

Oh... Oh, this was interesting.
Her eyes scanned the pages faster and faster as her brain processed it all. Why didn't she have more books on this? huh. She'd have to ask Cristo to purchase some for her and keep them around the house or something. Maybe he could do a mini lesson over the summer on it.
Somewhere in the back of her head she heard the footsteps approaching but it wasn't until she heard the two letters of her name that she actually realized they footsteps belonged to someone she knew. She quickly finished the page she was on before actually looking up.
OH. "Hi Zander!" she grinned up at him.
Long time no see.
"Do you wanna sit?"

He let his hand slide down from his hair to the back of his neck, as the corners of his mouth curved into a small smile. Thankfully Coral was too immersed in her book to even notice how much of a goob Zander was. And hopefully the pink was starting to fade off..
At the sudden question he found himself nodding vigorously until-- Wait, no he was actually here for a reason. A real reason that required figuring stuff out. Sort of. Zander slowly turning the nodding into shaking before saying, "I-uh, Well I actually came here to find a book," But that didn't mean that he didn't want to sit with her. Because he did!! But if he did then he'd probably end up forgetting about the book altogether, and NO this was important.
"But I have no idea where to find it... It's a history book!" he grinned at her. History was CB's area of expertise so maybe she could point him in the right direction?! "Do you think you could, um, help me find it?"

Gabriel.....personally....didn't attend Divination lessons. He'd tried once...and while he was sure the teacher was a very nice person, he could not get over the lack of hardcore facts....Okay...or honestly, it being a very perky HER, too. He was trying to be better at the interaction stuff...CB was helping...but it was still hard to overcome most days.
This, of course, didn't keep him from doing the homework, though.
Gabe had reread the assignment several times....making sure he understood. Find Snow White. That was it. Plain and simple. What Professor Morgan wanted with that book, he didn't know....but sure. He'd find it for her. He'd even asked CB if she wanted to have a look with him....mostly to take advantage of the opportunity and spend some time with her.....Though, Gabe wouldn't openly tell her that was the case...
He went ahead and began browsing then shelves while he waited.

Mirror tucked away in her bag, Coral held onto the shoulder straps tightly, pausing briefly in the entrance way of the library. Her gaze roamed the room in search of the boy she was meeting. She wasn't going to stand here and wait for him though. No Ravenclaw in their right mind would waste time by standing around in a room full of books.
She inched further into the room, slowly at first until she found her stride.
..... Which had carried her right to him. A smile rose to her lips and she moved closer to the boy, the little anxious butterflies making their presence known. She was getting use to that though... it wasn't so bad anymore. Fingers still tightly wrapped around her straps, she tilted her head, now only standing a foot or so from the boy.
"Find anything yet?"

......and there she was. On time. Gabe wasn't used to someone being so punctual.
He smiled JUST a little. Mini!smiles.
"I'm not quite sure where to begin...and between you and I, I'm nervous about asking someone for help."...because no one seemed to be themselves lately and it was really starting to freak him out. Difficult to take it for lighthearted cosplay anymore. Stuff was getting deep. "There's a muggle section...yes?"
He was embarrassed not knowing....with as much time as he spent in the library, but he usually spent that time on languages and Astronomy. Not stupid muggle fairy tales.
"Start on the outside and work our way in....?"

Was she ever going to get use to that? No matter how miniscule... that there, was still a smile.
The mirror wasn't going to help... She knew that much, but the professor had wanted them to use it to scry Snow White.... and... well......... she was never going to be on the other end of that mirror. Would the latest professor crazypants realize that?
heheheheh. Sharing secrets now? Coral liked that and the corners of her lips turned up to express that. Her thoughts wandered a little, bringing a slight hint of pink to her cheeks at the memories racing circles around her head.
Snap out of it, CB.
In theory.... "We could probably browse that for a while.. I think its back that way-" she pointed. "Or ... we could cheat a little. Do you know the summoning spell?"
One of her faaaaavorites.

Reason: I keep forgetting to label

"The Summoning Spell would be smart....but I don't know what the book looks like, its actual title, and....it could hit someone in the head flying towards us...and I don't want to get yelled at." Especially by his Head of House. He was one of the few professors Gabe could talk to...without drawing up and running to hide. Scolding might tip the balance. Who knew?
.....but he needed and depended on that relationship.
"Muggle books seem our best option..." Gabe started heading that way....eyes darting around for general weirdness. It'd became a trend for him being aware of his surroundings. First sign of danger...and Gabe was going to run. Sorry about everyone's luck.
As he neared the back (and where CB had pointed), he recognized a book on one of the shelves....and knowing it to be muggle, figured he was in the right place. The intense search began! He was pulling books left and right, double checking their titles and the first couple of pages...looking for this Snow White character. Also, he'd underestimated the amount of muggle books at Hogwarts.
These shelves were huge. THIS could've been why Gabriel hadn't shown much interest in this section.
"Any luck?"
Whisper, whisper
