Hufflepuff Study Tables Banner created by Lockhartian A large honey-colored wood table is set up to the far side of the room, the perfect place to study or even just leisure read. And should you find yourself lacking inspiration, portraits of several outstanding brains of former Hufflepuffs through the centuries line the walls in this area. These fine minds also bear the hallmark of those traditional of Hufflepuffs, including qualities of patience, a strong work ethic, and constancy. Some of these portraits include Nymphadora Tonks, Cedric Diggory, and even Zacharias Smith, flying on his broomstick. And of more modern Hufflepuffs, there are portraits of former prefects such as Savannah Mae, Nolan Reynolds, Leo Moretti, and then some outstanding quidditch plays of Evan Cassels scoring another goal on Slytherins and then Kita Lewis, snatching the snitch right from Ellie Stone's nose just several terms ago now! Above the tables, there's also the ever changing list representative of the top hardworking Hufflepuffs for the current term. Keep working hard at that homework and show up to classes - you never know, your name just might be shining in glitter one of these days!!! Hufflepuffs may have that myth floating around that we're not clever, but that is a MYTH. Hufflepuffs are definitely though, the least boastful, the most modest, but have also produced just as many brilliant witches and wizards as any other house. In addition to those named above, there's also Grogan Stump, one of the most popular Ministers for Magic of all time, as were the successful Ministers Artemesia Lufkin and Dugald McPhail. Then there’s the world authority on magical creatures, Newt Scamander; Bridget Wenlock, the famous thirteenth-century Arithmancer who first discovered the magical properties of the number seven, and Hengist of Woodcroft, who founded the Hogsmeade village. The shelves lining the study area are well-stocked with reading material for all classes, and supplies of spare parchments, ink and quills. But enough about former outstanding Hufflepuffs; I do hope some of you are willing to work hard and use these study tables wisely. After all, we've got an elusive house cup re-claim .... |
CoMC Homework Post 3 - Getting accustomed to fairies (2/3) Lunch time brought with it a good amount of free time, and after Toby had bolted down something to eat he had rushed straight back to his dormitory. In the end, he'd decided they would be better off staying in his dormitory while he had lessons, in case he ended up tripping and breaking the glass or something, y'know? The Hufflepuff had been dashing back to check on the creatures every time he could spare the few minutes it took to dash back down here. All was well so far. Toby emerged from the doorway to the dormitory now carrying the jar. The fairies still seemed happy enough, and he carefully set the jar down on the table before taking a seat himself. His plan was to continue talking "Hi guys," he said to them, reaching into his bag and extracting parchment and the last self-inking quill he could find; he'd have to get some more of those soon. "Sorry I couldn't get down here after break. I was all the way over at the other side of the castle between my last two lessons, and I'd never have made it back on time. Have you had a good day so far?" Lalala, just casually talking to these fairies that couldn't talk back. Toby glanced into the jar again to see them doing that posing thing they'd done ever since he'd first coaxed them into the jar. "I figured I'd give you all names and stuff," Toby said, as a vague explanation for what he was doing with the writing things. "And I'm gonna write them down so Thompson knows what to call you as well." The boy grinned, and lay his head down on the desk, all the better to see the fairies, who smiled and waved and started dancing again, already, Toby could tell the difference between them all. "I think I'll call you Cordelia," he said suddenly, pointing to the tallest fairy in the jar, who also seemed to give off an air of gentle authority. The other fairies had apparently claimed Cordelia as their mother figure, and would look to her from time to time. "That's my grandmother's name. It's very special." He continued to watch them, his eyes trailing one in particular. This fairy seemed mischievous, too, and had a clever little look on its face, and so Toby had JUST the name. "You can be called Puck!" he said, pointing at that fairy in particular. "That's from an old story or something, I think. I'm not sure... you just remind me of a fairy called Puck that I heard about from a story." Just behind Puck hovered one of the as yet unnamed ones. Toby had not failed to notice that this one had the largest wings of all the others. Not much in it, but when you spent the amount of time that Toby had spent looking at them, it was a pretty noticeable thing. But what would be a good name... "And you... how do you like the name... Tink?" he asked it, though didn't really expect an answer. The thought behind this name was, of course, from the old stories, where Tinkerbell was a character. That didn't really have anything to do with the large wings, Toby just liked it. Which left the last one. This fairy was smallest, and had a tendency to fly very quickly around the jar, doing a few laps at a time, as though charged with the same energy that Toby always had. He loved to watch this one when it happened. "And you," he said to the fairy, who wasn't even listening, due to flying around the jar in the aforementioned laps (or, y'know, due to the fact that it couldn't understand him). "Can be Spyro." Like in the game! Spyro was a dragon, sure, which wasn't the same, but did it really matter. "I hope you all like your new names." Toby noted down all of this now, and spent the rest of his lunch break making vague, one-sided conversation with the small creatures, until it was time for afternoon lessons. "C'mon guys," Toby said, begrudgingly standing and shouldering his schoolbag, before picking up the jar again and heading back to his dormitory to drop it off. "I'll be back after my last lesson, and then we can hang out some more, yeah? Cool." And off he went. Quote:

COMC HW #1 Post 9 Alright after Kace came back from the greenhouses with Zeke, he passed out on his bed. But the next morning he remembered the idea of feeding them. He needed to do that. He got some sparkles from his jar and knocked on the jar to wake them up. "Heyy guys here is your breakfast.." he said and then sprinkled their food in the jar. Both of his fairies stirred and they seemed hungry from yesterday. They were eating and smiling. They were just happy to be eating. "Your welcome.." he told them. He knew they said thank you. He also got his notes and decided to differentiate them on paper incase the professor wanted them. He just wanted to be clear. He began to scribble.... SPOILER!!: Kace's Notes There that seemed legit. He looked up and saw his fairies fell back asleep after eating. He smiled and realized they left a mess after eating. He would need to clean them up later. |
CoMC Homework Post 8 - Getting accustomed to fairies (3/3) As soon as he got back in from the little excursion outside, Toby made a stop at the study tables again. He carefully set the jar down and sat down too, his face still slightly flushed from suddenly warming up after the cold outside. "Look, you guys. I had an idea," the Hufflepuff spoke to the occupants in the jar, reaching into his pocket and pulling out the little twigs and sticks and stems with leaves on them. "I thought it might help you feel more at home. Can't be too comfortable in there..." Unless it was fine? But... Toby had no way of knowing if it was fine or not, because fairies couldn't speak english. He opened up the jar again, and carefully lowered one of the sticks inside, one that had three full leaves attached. Then he added a few extra leaves which fell to the bottom of the jar. Perfect for hiding away in and maybe even good to serve as a little bed? Toby left the lid off for a minute and and looked through the glass again. "I think I'll make your jar a little bit bigger soon. Thompson only mentioned that if there were eggs, but I'm sure it's fine to do anyway," Toby said to them all, watching as Puck and Spyro thoroughly investigated the additions to their living space, while Tink and Cordelia each perched themselves on a leaf and did that weird posing thing again. They all seemed to be quite familiar with him now, and looked at his face with more recognition. Toby watched as Tink flew up and out of the jar, flying around in his face. Toby grinned and held his hand out, causing the fairy to take a seat right there in his palm, comfortable as anything. Eventually, the others flew out to do the same, all sitting in the palm of his hand except for Spyro, who preferred instead to try and search through Toby's hair. It was enough to tickle, which made Toby burst out laughing. "Oh no... Spyro, don't do that," he giggled, raising his other hand to gently guide the fairy away. "I'm so ticklish, it's awful." But Toby was still grinning, and Spyro was doing the wing-buzzing thing, which Toby remembered was some kind of fairy laughter. So all was good, yeah? Yeah. "C'mon, let's go back to the dormitory, I've got a bunch of homework I still need to do." But instead of ushering the fairies back into the jar, Toby moved Spyro to the hand that held the other fairies, picked up the empty jar and lid, and made his way back to the dormitory like that. Just getting more accustomed with each other, NBD. |
CoMC Homework #1 - Post 9 It was almost bedtime, which meant cleaning the fairies' jar for the second time of that day. Seeee, Lux was in a rhythm; she knew the routine for her little charges by heart. Yawning, the redhead made her way over to the study tables. Maybe she didn't have any review needing done, but this WAS homework and the fairies would have a nice place to sit and relax while she worked. Placing the jar down on the table, she opened the lid and set the fairies down. Their water cup was placed beside them. Since there was nowhere to dump the water if she used Aquamenti, she decided that the best spell to use was Scourgify. If it was good enough to clean her potions equipment, it was good enough to clean the jar her fairies lived in. Once that was done, she placed the water cup back inside and then carefully put the fairies back as well before closing the lid. "There, now you guys can go to sleep and have little fairy dreams."
