At eight o'clock in the morning, the door to the Second Greenhouse is wide open. You step inside to find that the tables are set differently. Instead of being separately scattered around they are aligned next to each other forming one long table right in the center of the greenhouse. Wooden chairs are also lined on both sides of the tables next to each other. The Professor's table is no where to be seen. But he is standing right at the further end of the tables with his hands on the table and a few feet behind him is a blackboard.
Aside from the different arrangements of the tables you will notice another important thing; there is absolutely nothing on the tables. Look closely around you and you will also see that every other pot is covered and no plant is in sight.
ooc: Lesson will not start for at least another 16 hours! Also, note that there certainly have been a number of lessons before this one.
Class has officially started. Do not post you character arriving late, act as if they've been here all the time

Hadleigh set her wand down on the table in front of her when the Professor began speaking. Her complete attention was on him and what he was saying, that is until the greenhouse was once more covered with all the plants that had been missing when they arrived to class that morning. All the sick plants. Chewing her lip as she glanced from plant to plant the young girl shifted her gaze to the Professor as he told them what they would be doing.
Helping sick plants. She could do this. She knew the spells now to help them and if she didn't know a spell she could always ask someone for help or move on to a plant that she could help.
Feeling good about this activity Hady grabbed her wand and made her way to the cupboard and got several name tags. She then got a piece of parchment and wrote her name, year and house on it. All set with what she needed she began to walk around the room looking at the plants each in turn for one that she knew she'd be able to help.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Look at alllll the plants. They had finally made their appearance and some didn't look so good. Poor things. Adi had understood all what Professor Plants had said and so he was all set to begin aiding in fixing the sad looking potted plants.
But first things first. He grabbed a piece of parchment and a quill and stuck them in his pocket. Next, he got a couple of name tags from the cupboard and stuck those in his pocket as well. It made no sense walking back and forth to the cupboard every time he treated a plant.
So which was the first plant that caught his eyes? A Puffapod. Weren't those supposed to grow when dropped from a certain height? It was obvious this one didn't grow the approximate height of six feet. It was tiiiiny.
No worries. That would be fixed. "Herbivicus!" Cue the wand movement and watch the plant shoot up! Adi grinned. The greenhuuse had one less unhappy plant. Awesome! The Puffer scribbled his name on a tag then slapped it onto the pot.

Ian listened and watched as the professor performed the plant growing spell. It was rather interesting. He DID not have a green thumb and it was cool to see a spell that would help out a plant that needed a 'little' growth encouragement. He copeid the motion, slowly moving his wand back and forth. herbivicus! he said as he practiced. He decided now was good enough to give it a go.
He picked up the plant ahead of him and moved it closer to himself. He started waving his wand, making sure to touch the plant on the way and said the incantation, herbivicus! He was very excited to see the plant get larger. He tried a couple more times and was pleased to see it work.
The professor decided at that point they were ready to move on and soon plants appeared before them. They were sad and weak looking. Lots of sad, weak looking plants. Ian felt a little bad for the plants. They looked like plants he might have tried to grow. After listening to the instructions and directions, Ian looked around for a plant to start with. He decided to go with one with yellowing leaves. He pulled it closer to him and pointing his wand in the direction of the first leaf began the partial W motion as he spoke the word Diffindo! He felt like he cut a wee bit too deep, but it didn't appear to damage the stem. He started working on the other leaves, pulling back a little more and trimmed the other leaves better. When he felt the plant was properly trimmed, he noticed the soil was a bit dry and he used the aquamenti spell to water the poor plant.

Could he practice on another plant? Adi was tempted to but was distracted by AJ's voice. Leaning forward once more, he eyed her across Benny. Aw. Her teeny plant wasn't growing. And just look at her, with her nose against the plant. Cute.
"Giving up already, AJ?'' Adi whispered to her. "Here. The master made his plant grow on the first try.'' He pointed to his grown up plant. Smirk. Go on, AJ. Take the bait again.
Adi was apparently having absolutely no problem getting his spells to work, while AJ was struggling. She was happy that he was doing so well, but it was frustrating that she always had to try things a million times before she got results.
"I NEVER give up." Of course he knew that. AJ snorted. "Oh master, please give me some guidance." Haha! "Herbivicus." Staaaaare. C'mon tree. You know you wanna get big and strong. "Herbivicus." More staring. It was growing. AJ turned and winked at Adi. "How was that, master?"

The first would cause moss to grow the later would mean yellow leaves," He paused allowing chance for students tp write on their textbooks. "Then we have not enough sunlight or the opposite. If we see burned spots or really dark spots then the plant is getting too much sunlight. But if it looks weak and limp it needs more sunlight," Pause. Did they get it? Were they writing things down? This was ALL important.
Text Cut: climate/environment in general
Good answers here. "Every plant does have a specific climate and weather in which it prospers and grows. So any change in that would cause problems, yes," He said to the class emphasizing on the students' answers. "And like Mister Tempus said. If we notice a certain area where plants are getting ill. It means there is something wrong causing the problem which could be either the soil or pests or even wind," He was going to elaborate on that but waited to see if someone was going to mention anything about it first.
Text Cut: care
"True, any plants will get sick and eventually die if it received no care," He said. "It is very important to keep watching plants as well as providing all necessary elements to their survivor. Sunlight, water and nutrients. " Which were the most important things. There were also fertilizers and other things but he only mentioned the common knowledge that anyone who wasn't a specialist could preform.
Text Cut: soil, roots, chemicals, nutrients, fertilizer
Very good points, Andrew was pleased. He kept nodding his head at the students to go on. Then he turned to the blackboard again waved his wand and started talking. "Soil is very, very important," He said then paused to look at the class to let them know HOW important it was. "If suspicious it is always best to analyze the soil. There could be chemicals that are harming the roots and preventing them from getting the required nutrients. Also there are types of soils and it's essential to know the suitable type for each plant," He moved away from the blackboard and closer to the table. "Keeping in mind the size of the plant that it will grow into also must be known in order to provide the pot with the suitable size. " He nodded at Whitlock how brought this up. Good point.
"And of course, sometimes the soil can't provide the required amount of nutrients. Which is why we use fertilizers. In an accurate quantity of course because like miss Carrington said too much fertilizer has negative effects," A nod at the Hufflepuff.
Text Cut: silent ones
Hmm. So these didn't have answers. WERE THEY ASLEEP?
Andrew's eyes flickered to their faces to make certain they were fully awake. With open eyes and all. Yup. Awake. Which was good.
Text Cut: BALANCE!
"Very good, both of you," He said to the two girls. "There are many important things to provide. But doing that alone wouldn't do any good if everything wasn't in the right quantity. Everything should be balanced," He said stressing on the last word.
"Correct," He nodded. "Pests can cause diseases, something in the soil or even the wrong kind of fertilizer can do that, too." Nod. Nod. "Insects can also harm the plants in many ways. Like eating them which slows down the growth, stops it, too," A BAD effect of course.
"A healthy plant shouldn't be harmed by bending," He said. "But violent twisting or ripping out stems or leaves is certainly harmful." The boy only needed to reword his answer to make it better.
Pause.
Did they not understand the question. "I asked about sickness. Fire will kill plants," He told them. Though, it was good to remind everyone of how dangerous fire was.
Someone was in their very own world it seemed. "Yeah. Animals do the craziest things," Because they know no better.
Everyone was providing good and true answers. Which Andrew nodded along to. Well, except for some who only got weird looks. Like those who talking about ATTACKING plants. Two Gryffindors, the Valentine girls. "That's called killing the plants." Had absolutely nothing to do with sickness or being unhealthy. Walton frowned at the thought.
See, he still couldn't figure out what was wrong with this particular boy. Andrew just stared at the boy for a bit then said. "What?" And the Hufflepuff prefect seemed to think there was a book concerned ?Whatever that meant.
He listened to the Ravenclaw and considered her answer."There are a lot of theories on this topic," Was his response. They could discuss it for the rest of the class and wouldn't be done. So he left it at that.
NO HE DIDN'T!
Andrew would have GASPED. But he wasn't the type of person to have a strong and visible reaction. Although once he heard what the boy had said, the scowl on Walton's face was some serious and alarming one. "The plants are the reason you are alive," Well, not Andrew's plants actually. The world's plants but eh, whatever, the man was angry. Rude and MEAN kid. Even the Grumpy mean Professor would never wish that on anyone's plants.
Andrew scratched his chin and paused before saying anything. "I wouldn't say it has to do with genes," He told the boy. "But yes, some plants just start weak and unable to develop. We'll be talking more about that in a bit," Close to the previous point Miss Brown mentioned.
It seemed like anyone who had anything to say had already said what they wanted to. The Professor walked back to the blackboard after having been walking around the table. He waved his wand and more writing appeared. He'd obviously written them up there before but they weren't visible.
"So now we learnt how to declare that there's a problem and what might the problem be." He said turning back to the students again. "For each problem there is a solution. Today we will be focusing on only two of them," He said as he walked further from the table and closer to the covered plants. He paused for a bit then waved his wand and a couple of pots were visible. The man bent down and picked one up. "This is a plant that hadn't been getting enough sunlight. Which is why you will see yellowed leaves," He said holding the plant in the small pot up and walking around the table so that everyone got a good look at it. Once he made sure everyone got a good look, he started talking again. "What we'll be doing is cutting the yellow leaves from the plant. Of course the plant needs to be out somewhere where it'll get enough sunlight. But what I want of you is to learn how to cut off the dead or yellow leaves using the Severing charm," He walked to the further end of the table and placed the pot on it. "Diffindo," He said aloud for everyone to hear moving his wand slowly so that everyone can see the wand movement. "It might look too easy but it needs concentrating. It is very important to cut only the base of the leaf and not the stem or anything else," He walked back to where he picked up the pot and picked another one. "That plant had small leaves which made the job harder. This one has bigger leaves which makes trimming easier." He placed the pot on the opposite end of the table for those who were too far away to see properly. Again, he moved his wand uttering Diffindo and the yellow leaf dropped.
"So, what you have to do now is practice the severing charm," He could not risk them trying it on the plant right away. "Remember the wand movement is an incomplete 'W' shape and the incantation is Diffindo," He spoke the incantation slowly to make sure they all got it correctly. "You will find pieces of wood under the tables. You may practice on those. Be very careful. Do not harm yourself, your classmates or the tables," He would MIND if the number of tables increased after class.
ooc: You will only need one post to do this. If you want to make more it is totally up to you. Older students may help younger ones. Please do not let your charrie die or something. The spell isn't that hard. If you have any question do not hesitate to ask me or Andrew. I'm way nicer though Next post will be in like 20 hours roughly. Hopefully.
Severing Charm? This should be easy. Ethan leaned on his table and craned his neck so he could see Walton and his demonstration clearly. Again, Herbology is one of his worst subjects in Hogwarts, so he needs to pay extra attention, and double his efforts.
It was a good thing though that he can perform the severing charm pretty well. Thanks to Cutty for encasing Sophie in ice, he was able to master it already. “Diffindo.” He said without his wand. As soon as the instruction was given, Ethan ducked under the table to retrieve a piece of wood. Diffindo, and an incomplete W wand movement. “Diffindo!” plus the wand movement, and voila! Two pieces of wood right in front of him. See? Easy.

So far so good.
Even the Gryffindor who was talking about riddles and bringing out his tea set seemed to have returned to his right mind. Whatever was wrong with him before.
When he heard his name being called, his real name for once, he wondered if it was an emergency. So he immediately followed the sound of the voice. Luckily the tone was normal and calm and belonged to Mister Tempus, so nothing to worry about. It was good that someone asked a question. "It is suitable, yes," He nodded at the Hufflepuff. "Though I quite prefer to use Diffindo because it's one of the basic spells and very important to master, and can be used in various occasions." He hoped that was a satisfying response for the fifth-year.
When it seemed that most have gotten the practicing part done, Andrew cleared his throat and called out to the students. "Okay. That is enough practicing for now," He gave them a minute to settle down.
"Now we will learn a new spell. I'm sure some of you already know about it already but for those who don't it's the Herbivicus Charm, " He said loud enough for everyone to hear. "Miss Brown earlier mentioned something about a plant being stuck in a certain phase and not growing. So did Mister Mordaunt," They touched the topic without meaning to. "This charm will help boost the growth of the plant and help it bloom." He said turning to where the plants were usually. He bent down and waved his wand to reveal another pot. Soon everything was going to be visible but for now this how it had to be.
Carrying the plant to the table, he placed it at the further end like before. "Watch closely how this small plant will grow in a bit," He said drawing out his wand. Were they looking? They should be. "Herbivicus," He said slowly waving his wand. A flash of green light quickly appeared that connected the tip of the wand with the plant. The light soon vanished leaving the plant bigger than before. Like with the previous step, he walked around the table to stand at the opposite end to preform the spell again. "I'll demonstrate again," He told them then turned his attention to the plant again. "Herbivicus," Again the light appeared then vanished and the plant became even bigger and with more leaves. He supposed that was enough demonstration.
"Now I want you to practice doing what I just did," He waved his wand for like the millionth time this lesson and many small pots appeared. "You will notice on those plants that only just started to sprout from the seeds," All the pots contained the exact same thing. Andrew cast a quick glance to make sure that that was the case and nothing else was among them.
"Remember the incantation is Her-biv-i-cuss," He repeated slowly. "The wand movement is like drawing three little mountains," Eh, did that description make sense? Just in case it did not he moved his wand slowly for them to see. Hmm. Now, was there anything else to tell them ? Nope. Time to watch.
"Be careful and off you go," He clapped his wands together and stepped away from the pots but kept his eyes on them.
ooc: I'm sorry posts are coming later than the time I estimate. First week of uni is hard! Anyway, you will also need one post for this unless you feel like posting more. It's up to you. If you have any question or something is unclear to you do not hesitate to ask!
Oh, so they're not going to practice it on his plants? Ethan understood if the professor didn't want to. Bentley was protective of her 'babies', and the prefect was quite sure that it was also Walton's case. The Slytherin followed the professor with his gaze, and even turned around his seat to get a good view of the baby plants. So they were going to make it big?
As soon as he heard the incantation, Ethan quickly gave Zander a glance. Surely, that'll remind him of his former Head of House, no? Poor kid. The next thing Ethan saw was a pot with a baby plant in it. Right. "Her-bi-vi-cus. Herbivicus." It shouldn't be that hard, because they performed the harder version of the spell last term, right? Right. So this too, shouldn't be a problem at all. Breathing in, Ethan held his wand, and cleared his throat. "Herbivicus." plus three little mountain like wand movement, and there was light! As soon as it faded, Ethan made a face. His plant didn't grow as much as he wanted.

Not really the kind of question that would have cheered up the man, but was there even such thing?
"It certainly can," He nodded. Pause. "Though, it will have to performed before the tomatoes are picked. Like on the plant and not the fruit," Did that make sense. He stared at the boy trying to read his facial expression.
He'd been watching everyone practicing and casting the spell. Some weren't doing it accurately but most caught up with their mistakes and were working on it. He saw no one who absolutely messed it up. So all was good. And it seemed about time he introduced them to the real and final activity. All this had been build up. He preferred taking his time preparing them for whatever the final task was. He trusted they were now capable of handling it.
"Alright, that will be enough practicing," He announced then fell silence for a moment or two until everyone dropped what they were doing. "I trust now that you have enough information on how to deal with sick plants, the types we talked about of course," Assuming they were listening and writing notes down. Or you know, looking at the blackboard that had everything on it. He'd not covered everything on the topic but that would take much more time and he intended to focus on the basics today.
With one final wave of his wand many pots of plants appeared just when they usually were. The Greenhouse looked the same with the plants back except for one fact. ALL the plants were NOT healthy. He'd obviously hidden them before because he did not want to deal with students being like 'oh professor! This plant looks weird!' all lesson long. Eh. He'd rather not deal with reactions and all the dramatic reactions. "As you will notice," He spoke up again after giving them time to look around. "Those plants are sick and need to be treated, " Duh. "There are plants with yellow or holed leaves, or droopy, weak posture. Everything that we just talked about," He motioned around. "Some might look healthy but are really small which means they have been stuck like that for a while and need a boost," Cue the spell he just taught them.
"What you have to do is, treat as many plants as you can like we just learned. If you find that you do not know what is wrong with a plant just leave it and look for another. Do not take risks," He did not want to lose plants when he could treat them all. But he supposed a practical practice for the kids would be good for the future. For them at least, he was not sure about the plants. HE was taking a risk, or so he believed. "Whenever you treat a plant, I want you to grab a nametag, from the cupboard, write your name on it and stick it to the pot of the plant you just treated. Do not treat a plant with a name tag already on it. And do NOT write someone else's name." He was going to be watching ALL of them. "In addition to that, grab a parchment write your name, house and year on it and log all the plants that you treated," Was that too hard for them to do ? Hopefully not. He wanted to keep track of everything and avoid any situations where hooligans might want to set someone up for something.
Was there anything else? Oh, yeah. "In the cupboard you will find pesticides for the diseased plants and fertilizers for the weak ones." He'd only provided one type of both that would be suitable for the plants to make it easier. He of course diagnosed them before and eliminated the hard to treat ones. "One final note, it is possible that you will find dead plants that can no longer be treated," A moment of silence for the deceased ones.

Done.

ooc: This is the final activity. You will need three posts to get full credit on this. You are more than welcome to make more. What you have to do is simple, just have your charrie walk around and treat plants. They could be in need of trimming, a pesticide, fertilizer, more sunlight, watering...etc. Your charrie must treat at least two plants. More is certainly okay. Do not set anything on fire, not unless you want to see a very angry Andy! he's been nice so far. believe it or not I hope everything is clear, if not please ask me! =) You have about 48 hours to complete this. Andrew and I will be around. HAVE FUN!
Now that their brains are equipped with the knowledge to treat Walton's plants, Ethan jumped out of his seat, and walked towards the opposite side, away from other students. He didn't want to mingle at the moment, rather, he was more interested to cure the plants inside the greenhouse. He'd be needing this practice to help Mr. Millard, yes? Yes, yes, of course. That man was a good guy, and he'd be delighted that he's been learning things in Herbology. Mhm!
Ethan went for the cupboard first, and got himself at least five blank name tags. He then wrote his name on it, and placed it inside his pocket. Now, time for his first plant patient! The Slytherin walked towards a wilting plant with yellowing foliage, and the soil seems to be dry too. Ethan got his notebook, and scribbled down the name of the plant and its symptoms. Below it, he wrote down the possible cures.

Satisfied with his findings, Ethan took out his wand and performed the Severing Charm first. "Diffindo!"Zip, and off the yellow leaves go. He performed the severing charm over and over again, until all the wilting leaves are gone. Next was water. "Aguamenti."Swooosh. "Finite." The water stopped and Ethan waited for the water to be absorbed by the soil. As soon as the surface was damp, he got a handful of fertilizer and placed it on top of the wet soil. There! Cured! Woop! Woop!
Ethan fished out one of his name tags and added a few more notes on it.
He did however, got a question as he placed the nametag on the pot. "Professor, sir?" he asked as he raised his hand and turned to get Walton's attention.

And now yet more plants were suddenly reappearing all around them, except these weren’t like the little baby plants from the last activity. Brooklyn still was suspicious that somehow they’d all just been invisible and there had been every chance any of them could’ve tripped over them or something before now. Of course, she wouldn’t’ve, but she was special. Even her baby plant had finally listened and grown at least a little bit. She’d turned her attention to Professor Walton as he’d explained their next activity either way. They were going to be trying to cure these plants. She could do that, especially if the plants wanted to cooperate.
As they’d been excused to start, she’d made sure she still had a secure grip on her wand as she headed to the cupboard to collect nametags. She grabbed a handful just in case. Anything could happen, and she wanted to make sure people knew which plants were hers. That was important, after all. That and the log-thingy the professor had mentioned, which involved going back to where she’d been seated. Setting the nametags on the table by her piece of wood from earlier, she dug around in her bag until she found some parchment. Using the pen she’d left by her notes, she scribbled her name, year and house near the top, then collected her nametags again and set off to pick her first plant. She wanted to find a good one.

"Ooohhhhh... yep, yep, I get it Sir, thank you!" he beamed. MASSIVE TOMATOES HERE HE COMES!... if he can commandeer a tomato plant, of course. Though one of those would be super easy to grow - or so he imagines. If tons of muggles could do it, he didn't see why he couldn't.
The other practical part of the lesson sounded kinda cool, but it also sounded like super hard work. Like SUPER hard. There was so much to do. Heal plants, write tags, take notes.... GOSHHH! He was only a little Gryffindor, no need to drown him with work or anything. Geeeez.
At any rate, Zeke helped himself to a handful of name tags that the Professor had indicated to, and then with wand in hand he went about inspecting some of these sick plants.
They were ALL sick, so it wasn't as if he had to look hard for one, but what he really wanted, was a diseased plant, and so that's what he turned his attention to. The only real thing he knew about diseased plants, is that they looked funkier than other plants. Spotty and sometimes with weird textures, and yeah, stuff like that. Some even looked like they were rotting from the inside. It was pretty neat stuff.
Finding one with weird black spots, Zeke BEAMED at the sickly plant. "I'ma fix you up real good," he promised it. He stuck a label with his name, ZEKE ROGERS - Gryffie - First Year, on it first, thus securing his claim. Only then did he move to the stores cupboard to retrieve some of the pesticide stuff. Professor said that's what was needed for diseases, so THAT's what he was going to use.
With a spray bottle in hand, and enthusiasm to boot, Zeke started spraying away at the blackened spotty parts of the leaves. Annnnddd... just to be sure the disease wasn't on other parts too, he added a couple of extra SQUIRTS to get ALLLLLL the angles and sides of it.
This plant was going to get better in no time.
Inking up his quill, he got his parchment ready and started to scribe his findings.

With all the plants everywhere around the room it wasn't exactly hard to find one that needed her help. In some way every plant needed help, the thing was Hady just needed to find one that 'she' could take care of. After about a minute of walking around Hady knelt down on the floor in front of a tiny little nothing of a plant that was sitting in a huge pot.
Clearly this plant should be bigger if it was in such a large pot right? And it's dirt appeared a little on the dry side. Pulling out her she wrote her name, house and year on it and stuck it onto the pot. Then pulling out her parchment she wrote down what she had found and how she would take care of it.
Quote:
Plant Number 1 - Underwatered and very small.
Treatment - Give it more water and help it grow using Herbivicus.
Slipping her quill and parchment back into her robes she pulled out her wand and pointed it the dirt in the pot. "Aquamenti." She cast softly watching water pour from the wand tip into the dirt. "There's a nice little drink for you..don't you worry you'll be big and strong soon." Hady assured the plant as she stopped the spell and then proceeded to do the movement of the three mountains while saying "Herbivicus!"
It took just a moment this time before the plant before her began to grow it's leaves sprouting and bright green in color. The Slytherin beamed happily getting to her feet again and turning to go find the next plant to help.

Ian, when he was finished taking care of the plant almost forgot to label it. He took out his quill and wrote on a piece of parchment:
Quote:

Yellowing leaves. Trimmed the dying leaves, checked soil and added some water.
He went after another plant. He found one that seemed a little undersized. Ok..little was an understatement, it was grossly undersized. He wondered the efficacy of magic if a plant just needed to get more sun or fertilized or even just needed time. Every human grew at a slightly different rate, why couldn't plants be the same way. He figured that was a question for another time. This was time for some magicus plantus! He thought about doing a little jig just to liven up the place, but decided that might provoke the professor some more.
He took his wand, slowly waving it side to side and incanting Herbivicus! He must not have touched the plant as nothing happened. He wondered if in fact a plant would resist the efforts of magic if that wasn't the issue. That would probably be a wee bit too much to ask of non-sentient plants. He tried again, this time ensuring he touched the plant. He was pleased when it did have a growth spurt. He did it one more time to make sure it was a suitable looking size. He was pleased to now have a proper cactus.
He took out his parchment, wrote on it

Practice was over. It was time to cure some plants. Jasmine began to browse through the selection of plants, looking for just the right one to start with. Her eyes were drawn to two plants that happened to be next to each other. Which one to choose? Well since they had to heal several plants, there should be plenty of time for both.
Jasmine decided to start with a cute little plant whose growth appeared to be stunted. "Hi little one, I'm Jasmine. I'm going to help you grow bigger. Don't be afraid now." With the spell still fresh in her mind, she made the triple mountain movement with her wand. Saying, "Herbivicus", Jasmine watched as the plant began to grow bigger. This little one looked like he could use a double hit of Herbivicus, but Jasmine decided not to push her luck. Maybe a little fertilizer would be helpful. Jasmine went over to the cupboard and got some fertilizer for her plant. Then she went back and sprinkled the fertilizer on the soil. Pointing her wand at at the the soil, she said, "Aguamenti". Allowing just enough water to moisten the soil, Jasmine said, "Finite". Taking a name tag, she filled it out and placed it on the plant's pot.

The professor seemed to be very busy, but he knew that he will get to him after he's done checking the others. For now though, he needs to rescue another plant before it dies. Walton would hate it if he wasted time waiting around, yes? It will also look like he was slacking, and that's not good.
Not far away from Maxxie, his first plant, was another plant with white spots on its leaves. Ethan knew exactly why it had spots, but he also noticed that the plant was unusually small. Biting his lip, he took his notebook again, and wrote down his diagnosis.

Placing his notes down nearby, Ethan got one of the hand sprays containing pesticide out of the cupboard and started to apply it on the plant, making sure he had covered every leaf. Once he was done, he got out his wand and pointed it at his patient. "Herbivicus!" as soon as the light faded, the plant grew bigger, but the spots were still there. He got the hand spray bottle once more and applied the pesticide once more. Next, was water. "Aguamenti." Making sure that the top soil was damp enough, "Finite." he went on with the next step. Ethan got a handful of fertilizer and applied it on top of the freshly watered soil. Pat pat pat.
There. Done. Now...where's the professor? He's got two plants now that needs sunlight. While Walton's attention was somewhere else, he got another name tag and placed it on the pot's side.
Zahra could do this with her eyes closed. Her brother taught her this years ago. She used to heal plants with her fake wand, before she was old enough to get one. Really, Zahra was a pro.
She pulled up her first plant, one that her brother would say "wasn't loved enough" and prodded it with her wand. "DRINK UP PLANT," Zahra instructed before soaking it's soil and roots with water. "You'll need to sit in the sun for at least three hours a day, you know." Duh, plant.

Okay so they were done practicing the new spell? At least the professor had moved them on to what he really wanted them to do, the plants that had been hidden reappearing at the man's silent command. Oh, they looked bad and certainly needed help. Though as some of his fellow classmates moved on to help, Benny decided to try and practice the spell some more for just a little bit. Better to be prepared than try to fix a bigger issue with a spell you weren't familiar with.
Fine with the incantation and wand movement, the fourth year was ready to put it all together. So taking one of the mini plants, Ben focused on it to try it out. "Herbivicus!" he cast, making the three little mountains. Nothing seemed to happen at first, at least to the naked eye but he wasn't gonna give up. The rest and done it, even if he felt like he was behind them anyway because of whatever he seemed to have forgotten.
"Herbivicus!" he tried again, repeating the movement but trying for for intent and keeping the focus on longer. This time the small little plant grew an inch or so. "Herbivicus!" Benny did and the third time seemed to be the charm, the plant under his charge growing into entity several inches tall and healthy. Jackpot.

The Gryffindor had already grabbed himself a flower pot, but CLEARLY he was still in his own head because he wasn't really doing much for the moment being. Just thinking really. Thinking about dropping this class and well, other things too. Heh. Herbology used to be his favorite, but things really do change pretty quickly. If Beauti-- No. What?
He had to do something with this plant.... Right? Uhum. The fourth year looked around at the people around him and noticed that their small little stems had grown in size... Right. Catching Benny preforming the spell, Zander smiled and watched carefully. Okay that wasn't too bad actually.
Lifting his wand in the air he moved it in... What looked like a motion of three little mountains? And "Her-biv-i-cus?".... No? Okay. Uh. Second try always seems to work. You know, maybe he should have practiced first? Nah. "Herbivicus!!" This time, a little green light emerged from the tip of his wand and stayed for a second before disappearing. And Wooaah! It had grown so much bigger and uh, okay that's what it was supposed to do. LOL MAGIC.

Satisfied that Zeke the Gryffindor seemed to have gotten the idea, Andrew nodded at him and started walking around watching everyone work. His instructions were being taken seriously. Good. And Walton was feeling more at ease about this activity because it did not involve bouncing plants and the possibility of chaos breaking out was not high. But he was still watching. Making sure no one needed help, too.

The Gryffindor had just finished with the herbivicus and before he knew it, they were moving on. Merlin, this would never had happened if Beautiful Bentley was here. But she wasn't. And he was slacking. The Gryffindor pocketed his wand again in hopes that Professor Walton would finally call off class, however he wasn't so lucky. WAIT A MINUTE, cure his plants for him? As in cure THAT HORRIBLE MAN'S, plants? No. Zander wouldn't do it.
Nuh uh.
Nothing that anyone could say would make him do otherwise. But he didn't want to have to face the Professor again... Ugh. OKAY, okay he'd do it. But he wouldn't be happy about it. Hmph. Crossing his arms, the Gryffindor got up from his work station and started to wander around like the other students. He stopped at a particularly lousy looking plant and eyed it for a minute before decided that water was the way to go.
Taking his wand out of his pocket once more, he lifted it before casting a quick, "Aguamenti," making sure not to over water the plant. Then he grabbed a scoop of fertilizer and added some to the pot as well, cause you know it looked like it needed nutrition. And now that, that was over. He went to grab one of the name tags and scribbled his name rather quickly.

This little activity was right down Angel's alley. She was sure that her sister was in hog heaven. AJ wasn't exactly a plant person, but the task seemed simple enough. Have no fear plants, for AJ Valentine is here. Notes were scribbled down, somewhat legibly, and she grabbed some name tags. Her name was jotted down them, and she started her log.
Now she needed to save some lives... plant lives, that is. AJ walked around until she spotted a plant that looked super wimpy. She did just learn how to grow the plants again so why not do that?
"Herbivicus." Blink, blink. Nope, it wasn't working for her. "Herbivicus." The plant was growing and already looked healthier. You're welcome, plant. AJ watered too for good measure. Saving lives one plant at a time.

Angel knew that it was important that she helped out the plants because well she loved them and they needed looking after... it was just like how a mother helped her child. No matter what happened you would always be there for them and that is how she felt with plants.
Angel spotted one that was very small and looked like it needed help growing well that was something she could do.
"Herbivicus" Angel did the wand movement and smiled when it worked this was totally awesome and she wanted to save them all herself, could she kick everyone else out? "Look at this." Angel spoke to the plant. "You are now at a nice size... lets give you some water to help you more." Angel smiled as she gave it some water.

Dot was a SUPER EXPERT gardener, but she wasn't sure she trusted herself to correctly diagnose and cure these sick plants. She might get it wrong and then something would DIE and it would be her fault. Or worse, what if she was too good at it and the professor skipped her up 5 grade levels to be a sixth year gardener instead of a second year gardener? Ain't no Slytherin got time for that.
So Dot looked for a plant that looked relatively healthy, finally spotting one with mostly green leaves, although a few had wilted edges. It had a stunted and under-appreciated look to it, so Dot gave it some encouraging pointers as she drew it closer to her. "You're a very clever plant, sitting here in the back where no one will bother you much. So clever, really, that I fear you've gone and been forgotten. How about a bit of water and sun and you'll feel right as doxies again soon, yes?" And she patted the little leaves fondly.
First, to trim away the yucky brown bits so it wouldn't feel all self-conscious about being wilty. Dot carefully aimed her wand and drew a very very tiny broken W shape. "Diffindo." Tiny or not, she cut away a bit more than she intended, but at least all the remaining leaves were healthy looking. "That's the spirit. Now, then... let's get you watered and fertilized and plunked out in a sunny spot."
She knew the watering spell, and the professor had set out fertilizer for them, and it was short work to get the plant settled into a sunny corner with loads of fertilizer and NOT loads of water. She knew better than that, yup yup. On the little label, Dot carefully recorded her name... and all that.

Now Ben felt better about moving on to help the many sickly plants located around the greenhouse. The ones that would need the new spell would certainly have a good chance of improvement. He turned around to look behind him, figuring to start with those in his vacinity first. That would be the best place to start out of the other options that were currently being helped by other students anyway.
The one that caught his attention first was nearly completely bent over. That meant the plant wasn't quite strong enough in the stem or as a whole...right? He walked over to the cupboard to grab some fertilizer from what was stored there as well as a few name tags. The fourth year was sure the fertilizer would help a great deal, something with the possibly missing nutrients to strengthen the plant. Bringing it back to his spot at the tables, Benny set out adding it to the weak plant's pot, scooping it from the container and sprinkling it around the base.
Now he just had to label it. He took one of the name tags and a spare quill he found in his robe pocket and signed it. One Benjamin Atreyu was responsible for helping this plant.

Maddie was glad to see the greenhouse looking like a greenhouse again but it was rather depressing, wasn't it? So many plants on the verge of death. Way to bring down the mood, Walton.
The second year waited for all directions to be given before pulling out some fresh parchment and setting up her plant log. She'd just bring it with her as she went, quill too. It'd make things easier that way. She also decided to grab a few tags and bring those around with her TOO. Way better than making however many trips back and forth to the cupboard.
After walking around the room and passing several plants that she figured had gone on to a better place, the thirteen year old found one she thought she could help. "Don't YOU look sad," She said quietly, leaning in to observe the droopy plant with mild interest. It was slumped over, limp too, unpleasant to look at for sure. Luckily the leaves weren't a problem, though. No holes or brown spots to be seen. That meant it was probably in need of something to give it a boost, yes? A little extra strength. Perhaps some water and fertilizer would be an adequate cure.
After writing down her course of action, the brunette wandered over to get some fertilizer. Just a scoop would do as the pot was a small one and she didn't want to over do it. The scoop was then placed to the side as her wand was removed. "Aguamenti." Just a little drink of water, not too much at first. Best to start small and make sure she didn't drown the poor plant. "You're definitely thirsty, it seems. Someone needs to do a better job looking after you." Annnnd she was talking to a plant. That was quite strange, yes? Perhaps she should stop that.
Fertilizer was next. Using the small shovel, Maddie added the fertilizer she'd retrieved from the cupboard carefully. She then tilted her head to assess her work.
Tag time.

Treat the unwell plants? That was what he had said at the beginning of the lesson too, wasn't it? That they were gonna be Plant Healers or whatever and have to go around helping. Could this be an interesting activity?
Man, he hoped so.
Grabbing a piece of parchment, a quill and a tag, Grayson got up from his desk and started wandering around. Some name tags had already been placed on some plants because some people were so freaking fast at this. He didn't get it. How did they even have the ENERGY? And how did they work so quickly? AND what happened if he didn't find a plant to treat? Would he not have to do this activity?
The boy didn't have to worry about that because behind one of the larger plants sat a tiny TINY plant with a few dry, wilting leaves. Sucks. Taking hold of his quill, he examined the plant as carefully as he could before jotting some things down in his log. Did they have to include a lot of information? No? Just the basics? Good. That was what he was going for: writing down the basics and the basics only. Enough to get him the credit he needed.
When that was done, he placed his log and quill down and took hold of his wand. First things first was the cut off all the dry leaves. "Diffindo!" he called, making that 'w' shape wand movement. One dry leaf down and gone. "Diffindo!" Second one down and away from the plant. "Diffindo! Diffindo! Diffindo!" Three, four, FIVE.
Jeez, how dead WAS this plant?
Once all the dry leaves had fallen off and formed a small pile on the table it was sitting on, Grayson decided to concentrate on the next piece of work: making the plant grow. "Herbivicus!" he said, moving his wand in the shape of three small mountains. Was it going to work? He really hoped so. He didn't want to be standing here all day, just watching and waiting for a plant to--
IT WAS GROWING! SCORE!
And for the last bit? "Aguamenti!" Because every plant needed water. Obviously. Especially for this one that had dry leaves. Once he let a healthy amount of water trickle onto the soil surrounding the plant, he stopped the water flow with a "Finite!" and moved on to place a name tag on it.

Could he just laugh out loud at AJ? That probably wasn't a good idea though. Professor Plants might put him in detention from disrupting the class. So instead, he smirked again. "Awesome work! I bring you good luck, don't I?"
..............................
Onto plant number two. Well, technically he had to find the plant first. Adi passed a few that looked healthy. There was no signs at all that something was wrong so he moved on, searching carefully.
Oh look. A sad looking plant with some brown leaves. Adi felt the soil, noting it was dry. "Aguamenti!'' There, little plant. Drink up and be healthy again. And also why not get rid of those ugly, useless leaves?

Marigold needed to practice the Herbivicus spell mre often. Why this decision? Maybe because Marigold had tried it out, but said it wrong, or did the wrong wand movement, because the plant was shrinking rapidly. It had been about twelve seconds, and already the plant was the size of her fingernail. "Finite!" she said as quickly as she could after she regained her senses. The tiny plant sat in front her, and she took a deep breath and pointed her wand at the plant. "Herbivicus," she said, waving her wand in the three mountain-type-shape. The plant grew back to where it was before, and a little larger, so she turned her focus to other plants.
Oooh, look! There was one that looked pretty healthy until the top layer of leaves, which were dry and brittle. Marigold made a nametag before curing it, sticking it under her knee as she kneeled in front of it.

Eden stuck her label on the first plant..and WHOOOH. She wanted to throw a party for herself for not majorly killing any plants. And ESPECIALLY not Robert, nope.
She moved on to find another sickly plant, and when she found one--IT WAS SO DROOPY. Poor thing! No brownish leaves or anything--BUT SO DROOPY. Eden felt baaad. "Awwww--you poor dear!" she cried, and she quickly pulled the pot closer to her. After squinting at HER closely, she decided to name this one...Vera. VERA. hehehe. Her blue eyes looked at Vera up and down before trying to figure out what was wrong. Wilty and droopy--lack of water, or sunlight? Or both? And how did one FIX that? She supposed she would have to give it some water and also some fertilizer. HMPH.
Whipping her wand out, she quickly 'aquamenti-ed' some water into the pot...not TOO much, though, hopefully. She didn't want to DROWN Vera! She then went to grab some fertilizer, but quickly came back...and squinted at her plant..hmm..and then she squinted up at Professor Walton and raised her hand.
"Professor--I have a question?" she said in a very CONCERNED voice. "Aren't there some issues with artificial fertilizers? Chemicals and whatnot--are these honestly good for the plants?" she asked curiously. She wasn't asking because she thought she knew better. She didn't! She just honestly didn't know about it..she had read about the controversy with fertilizers.
And speaking of things she had read..HOW did she read so much about plants, anyways?!
