| | Greenhouses The greenhouses are where lessons usually take place. But when there are no lessons being held, they are a place for students to come and get some grardening, researching or looking around done. This would actually make Professor Walton happy.
However, you will notice that there are seven greenhouses. In each one a different variety of plants is being kept. The ones that are easy to deal and work with are in the lower-numbered ones and as the number goes up the plants become more dangerous and would require more experience and credibility to handle. So you won't need permission to access greenhouses from one to four but you will need Professor Andrew's permission to access the greenhouses five, six and seven.
As you enter whichever of the greenhouses you will see rows and rows of plants neatly tidied and positioned in an accurate spot in regard of sunlight. A few of them will occasionally need to be turned around, trimmed and taken care of and that's what you will find Professor Andrew doing should you run into him. He also will be roaming around keeping an eye out on things and people.
You are not allowed to harm any plant in any way. You must always be prepared for anything and if you need the Professor's help all you have to do is call for him, he's either in his office or in one of the greenhouses. Also, you do not need to bring equipment with you because in each one of the greenhouses there is a cupboard that has everything you might need; gloves, robes, shovels, pots of all sizes, cultivators, fertilizers...etc. OOC: -You do have to RP getting permission to access the greenhouses five, six and seven. And please be realistic, a firstie won't be allowed to be near dangerous plants without assistance.
-Please do not let your character damage anything because Andrew WILL deduct points. Still, this is a place to have fun besides learning, so enjoy it!
-If you need Andrew just title your post so that I will post for you. |

She really wanted to leave but she was sure she was probably supposed to do more than one of those plants and she wanted the points. Weirdly. Even if she didn’t feel that affiliated to her house they were kinda third in the points and quite frankly she didn’t want to see the others there.
She was gonna try get another of these plants in if she could very quickly. As long as the thing didn’t attack her then she supposed she would be okay. She grabbed another pot and placed it on her work station where she proceeded to fill it up a little with some soil deep enough for the roots to penetrate.
Next she approached the plant slowly and cautiously but with utter confidence. She wasn’t going to let a PLANT attack her after all. Once within inches of the bulb she reached out and grabbed it firmly but gently before walking it back to her work station. The plant got a look, mostly because she didn’t actually want to plant it. They were in a magical world, why couldn’t plants you know, plant themselves?
She had to admit this task was incredibly tedious.

This might not be so bad... "No," Dot bounced on her toes briefly as she considered if she was really ready. Was she? Was anyone? What was ready, really? And ready for what?
Oh, oh YEAH. For catching bulbs. She skirted around Gabe, giving his sleeve a sort of fond pat-tug-stroke to let him know she wasn't gonna set him on fire or anything. She was nice. Honestly. Now, she just needed some of those pot things, and some dirt, and... maybe a baby shovel, because she didn't want to get her gloves dirty.
Dot lined up several pots, dumping dirt haphazardly into the first one with the baby shovel. About 3/4 full, right? That worked last time, and she was a gardener girl now. "Okay, I'm ready. You try not to break my nose, ok? I'd look stupid with swollen up freckles."

It wasn’t that being IN the greenhouse was a particularly bad thing. It was pretty hot in there she had to admit and the place had also filled up with students who were bustling about and getting their plants in. She was starting to consider whether this was actually a form of labour. The professor clearly couldn’t be bothered to plant all these himself and so he relied on the students to do it all for him. This wasn’t homework, it was student abuse.
With a sigh the Ravenclaw glanced at the plant, plopping it into the pot before reaching across to grab the remainder of the soil. Only it seemed to get a little over-reactive and the blonde stepped back a little wide eyed. SEE?! This was why she didn’t want to DO herbology, these plants were absolutely bonkers. “Flipendo!” she called to knockback the bulb until it had calmed down enough for her to approach it.
She luckily didn’t have to wait long before she as quickly as she possibly could shoved the rest of the soil over its roots and stepped back to look at it. There! All done!
Placing the bulbs where they were supposed to be and clearing up her workspace in a rush the fifteen-year-old was able to quickly slip out without any trouble.

Well, this arrangement was actually going to work out much better than Gabe could have anticipated. He didn't have to mess with the dirt and soil...Just the spell work. Surely, there would be zero harm and embarrassment in that, right?
If he were in private, he'd have laughed at himself. There was literal and PAINFUL embarrassment in EVERYTHING he did.
As Dot moved towards the pots and soil...Gabe followed quickly behind. Dot was doing the hard part. She couldn't be let out of his sight...lest he lose the opportunity. Ravenclaw logic told him to make sure the deal with sealed before moving forward...but really, this wasn't something that required that much commitment. Just homework.
After she finished filling each individual pot to her liking, he nodded to himself. It was time. He could do this...Nbd. It was really NBD... Bouncing bulbs, here we come...
Stepping a bit closer to a group of the ridiculous looking things...he raised his wand. Deep breath in and out. He could do it. SIMPLE SPELL. SECOND YEAR STUFF, REALLY...Deep breathes. Mhm.
One charged him...and Gabe jerked back... "FLIPENDO!" SQUEAK!

One charged him...and Gabe jerked back... "FLIPENDO!" SQUEAK! It worked it worked it worked! Dot held out the pot in front of her, almost daintily like she was afraid the outside of the pot was as dirty as the inside, and she waited for Gabe to knock bulbs at her. And he did! See that? That was why you made friends with Ravenclaws. More Ravenclaws, at least, 'cause all of Dot's friends were Ravenclaws already.
"GET IN THE POT GET IN THE POT," she almost couldn't help getting excited as she darted out and then back and then out again, trying to get under the bulb. It fell neatly into the pot, and Dot shoved dirt over top of it to keep it from getting away. "You like it in the pot, silly. It's your home. Don't work so hard to leave home."
And that was one down... and... more to go. "Good job, you." For Gabe. You was Gabe.

It'd WORKED?! FIRST TRY?!?!
Gabriel took a moment to blink...and then GRIN stupidly. Dot, and the minute success, was the push Gabe needed to relax further into the task...and he nodded at her commanding the bulb....thing. That's right, bulb. Listen to the terrifying little girl....He'd seen Dot talking about an axe once. If that didn't scare people....said people were completely stupid....and wait...He'd gotten distracted.
................"Thanks." Offering up another smile...he quickly turned to wrangle another of the plants....After all, there were pots to fill...and he didn't want Dot getting crazy on him like she had on others in the lesson. Keeping himself on her good side. A Ravenclaw thing to do.....right?
He waited for one to charge...and was infinitely proud when he only squealed a little. "Flipendo!!!"

He waited for one to charge...and was infinitely proud when he only squealed a little. "Flipendo!!!" Oh no oh no! Dot was NOT ready, and she hadn't put any dirt into the pot that she was going to have to use to catch the next bulb. The next bulb, which was already flying right at her head. It didn't help that Gabe was squealing like Nimbus when she stepped on his tail accidentally.
It was not attractive. She wouldn't tell him, though, because people didn't need help knowing the moments they were not being attractive. Best just encourage him when he WAS being, right?
BUT CATCHING THINGS. Dot held out the pot, without dirt in it, and she somehow managed to be generally in the right place. She made banshee baby noises at the bulb, which landed hard in the pot, rattled around for a second, and then bounced out again.
"NO NO NO." She fell onto the bulb, capturing it under her up-ended pot. "Dirt, Specs! I need dirt!"

...............Oops.
Gabriel's face fell AND SEIZED as the second bouncing bulb launched towards Dot's head. He....had thought she was ready. He'd seen her filling up the pots...Had....she only gotten about to ONE...?...BUT THERE HAD BEEN SO MUCH DIRT....
Man, he felt like a Class A jerk..........again.
...BUT RIGHT. DIRT. The Dot person needed dirt. Gabe quickly stumbled forward, catching himself and his footing several times...and surprisingly so. She'd managed to catch it in her hands...and while that was all fine and good, one could NOT hold a bulb and do the dirt all at once. Apparently. Gabe had REALLY.......desperately hoped....he'd be able to pass on DIRT DUTY...
Collecting dirt...Lots of dirt....he assisted in...potting the second plant. What a ridiculous looking thing. Really. He did NOT like it....and he felt like it was looking at him. Judging him. Was a PLANT judging him?...
SCOWL.
Dirt added, he paused so she could put the bulb in place....and then quickly added more. THERE....She could do that....patting and....making sure it stayed still....and the general TOUCHING of it.
Yea, Gabe drew the line there.

Yea, Gabe drew the line there. "We don't like you," Dot told the bulb in a scathing tone. She pushed it beneath the dirt Gabe had provided with one finger, and then the pot went up on the shelf next to the one they'd potted well. That seemed like enough, right? They potted two, which was basically one each? Why do more than that, really?
"You're dirty." Dot carefully added dirt to two more pots, just in case he was going to go flinging bulbs at her again, and then she casually brushed dirt from Gabe's clothes A bit on his sleeve, some on his collar, and... oh dear. How'd he get some there? She sighed and looked away so he wouldn't be embarrassed.
"Do one more. I can catch it. And then we can get cocoa, 'cause I know where they keep it." In the kitchens. Duh.

Well, for her. It was Dot. Just because it was Dot......he turned towards the angry little plants...and scowled. She'd been right. They...collectively...really didn't like them.

SO. GROSS. That one went a bit wonky, probably due to Gabe choking on that bit of dirt that somehow ended up going down his throat. It was a mystery to Dot how stuff like that happened, really. She darted back and forth beneath the flying bulb, and when it hit the edge of the pot and started to bounce, Dot tipped it in with her hand.
The end.
"I want cocoa now," Dot poked the bulb safely into the dirt and paused long enough to peel off her gloves. Come on, cocoa-buddy.

Cinna had made her way down the greenhouses fully attending to do her Herbology homework. She did. Once she got down there and ready to start on it she realized that the bulbs were extra extra bouncy even for bouncy bulbs. Eh. She was starting to rethink this assignment. She decided that she would just do the other option drawing the bulbs. Now that she can do.
Since she came all the way down here to do the homework. She was going to get some kind of homework done out of this trip. Did she mention that she had to come out in the snow to get to the greenhouse? Eww snow. She wasn't fan. Not after last term anyway.
So what homework could she do while she was here. Thinking she remembered that she needed a few more pictures for the Charms homework assignment. She happened to have the camera in her bag. She took it out of her bag. She would snap a picture of the bouncing bulbs.
Snap!
She grabbed the picture as it popped out of the Camera.Tapping the picture she said, "Alacer!" Okay Now she only needed one more now. She was realy proud of her work in this assignment.

| CoMC Homework #1 - Post 5 ♥s her SS family l Wifey is MINE | Naughty Niffler l Whittysaur l #awkwardturtle<# After sharing a nice meal with her fairy friends, Lux decided that it was a good idea to let them get some exercise. At first she had no idea where to head since there was always the risk of them flying away where she couldn't get them back. No good homework marks would come of that, and besides she would be a pretty bad fairysitter if her charges ran away.
Wandering around the castle, the idea of heading to the greenhouses suddenly came to her. If her fairies flew around there they would be confined and they would also be able to explore the plants. And there were no flesh-eaters in the greenhouse, so that was another plus.
Walking inside, she smiled at her little fairies. "Time for you to exercise, Alex and Sam." She had already given them names, choosing gender neutral ones just to be safe; though she DID think the one in yellow was a male because the laugh was of a lower pitch than the one in the green. Maybe it was the same for fairies as it was humans? Not like she could ask them since they communicated by humming.
Opening the jar, she watched as they left the jar to fly, zooming around the plants. They had started playing a game of chasing each other around and it was so adorable. Hopefully neither of them would get hurt or damage the plants in any way. So far so good, but after a bit she decided it was time for them to head back to their jar. "Okay, guys. Exercise time is over." Of COURSE all that got her was two fairies sticking their tongues out.
HMPH! "Please come back? Pleeeeease." UGH. Fairies could be so naughty. They were back to playing again as if she hadn't said anything. Well, that left her no choice but to immobilize them and catch them carefully as they fell. No harm done. "Sorry guys," she said apologetically as she placed them back inside their new home and closed the lid again. In no time at all they were flying against the glass. |

Still, some were doing a really good job. Well, fine more than some. And the good thing was that almost all the plants were potted now. The hooligans were actually helpful. Good to know.
Walking away from one of the cupboard that totally got messed up a tiny bit he slid his hands into his pockets and settled on a bench watching. Woot woot! Time to go and hang with Professor W! Oh, yeah. She needed a reason for the herbs, right.... Well... She had been planning a prank on Jun, maybe there was something herb related she could use. "Well, I was wondering if there were certain herbs that effected speech? Something that could make a person's dialect change say to... that of a valley girl or something similar?" The smile turned just the smallest hint devious. Jun with that weird Norean accent of his speaking like a California Valley-girl would be hilarious. Huh?
Andrew paused repeating the words in his own head. Did she really ask that? A thought started forming in his head that maybe the girl didn't really know much about herbs. Though he tried to convince himself that it was okay for students to ask any kind of questions. The advantage of a young and forming mind or whatever.
"I don't think I ever heard of such thing," He finally said and fell silent.
But that wasn't helpful at all and he only got very few students asking about important things. "See, herbs are used in many fields. But their effects are not that... specific," Or pointless, which was his personal opinion. "Their might be a herb that affects the area in the brain that's responsible for speech which might have a side effect on a certain person like the one you mentioned," he explained waving his hands around.
Did she understand a word of that? Probably not. Quote:

He'd walked back to the first Greenhouse after making sure the remaining bouncing bulbs were all tucked away. The hooligans kids did well and potted many of the bulbs which was helpful and surprising. No one got seriously injured or set on fire or anything of the like. He was relieved. Danger averted.
Shuffling around, Walton was eyeing a couple of bushes and other plants. Hm. He wondered where he should start. He squinted at a bunch of pots trying to do a quick math to determine which one needed an urgent trimming or fertilizing. Which needed quietness to concentrate.
And that was when the Gryffindor appeared by his side. When did she even get here?
Blinking a couple of times, the Herbologist remembered telling the girl to come over. It would have made him feel better if she showed up sad and bored and miserable. But she was grinning and that was not the point of his job.
"Kettleburn," he nodded at her. "Yes I can see that," He had eyes you see. "Hope you're ready for your chores?" Which he needed to come up with, by the way. Cue his eyes starting to dart sideways looking for something to distract the happy, enthusiastic blonde for the rest of the term day.

Zahra's grin never wavered. The greenhouses were a great place to be stuck. They smelled good, the felt good, and she had pretty good company. Professor W was alright. "You've no idea how ready I am." Honestly. Put her to work until bedtime. "I can probably do this all the time, you know. We can drop that whole "detention" thing because I don't mind." And to be honest, Zahra couldn't even remember what she had DONE to get this so-called "detention". |

And there he thought he would be having fun telling the troublesome who disturbed the class to come and work here. This was no fun. The student was smiling. That was not supposed to happen. Oh and he didn't really want to have an idea. The idea he's gotten so far was enough to upset him.
Not that he looked any different from his usual self.
Drop it? PSHT. They were not going to drop anything. What else would they call this? Him hanging out with students or merlin forbid requesting help. NOPE! "We'll see about that," He said scratching the back of his head as his eyes flickered from two bushes. First assignment was all ready in his mind.
"Okay. See these Spiky bushes," He pointed to the nearest ones. "They need trimming," Did she know what that was or did he need to elaborate? "You may use your wand," Because then it would be too mean even for him. And just to make certain she knew what to do and wouldn't damage the bushes, he drew out his wand waved it uttering a diffindo spell. "See, easy," FOR NOW.
Without waiting for her to respond, he grabbed a chair and sat right next to her. He was going to be watching to see if she was enjoying it to find her a new thing to do.
"Oh and don't get too close," He only wanted to see students sad and not injured. He had a heart you know. Very deep down. and the girl shared the minister's surname

Oh COOL, Professor W was gonna stay and chat! COOL! Very cool. Zahra liked him all the more. Was she supposed to get a chair too? Hehe
"I got this, Professor," Zahra actually did, too. She could trim bushes with diffindo. "My brother can make bushes look like animals. Topiaries. Want me to try that? hehe"
DIFFINDO, Zahra whirled around like she was DUELING the bush instead of trimming it, DIFFINDO, keeping it interesting. |

DIFFINDO, Zahra whirled around like she was DUELING the bush instead of trimming it, DIFFINDO, keeping it interesting. He actually sat down to watch like a hawk and point out what she was doing wrong and all. Definitely not here for small talk. Someone got the wrong idea of his moves. Did his frowning face lose the effect? Did he no longer scare kids away? That was the worst news ever.
"Interesting," Because as a herbologist he quite appreciated that kind of art.
What he did NOT appreciate was the fifth-year here trying to preform it on his bushes! She obviously wasn't trained or anything and even if she was it'd take a lot of thinking for him to allow anyone to attempt such moves on any plant or bush. Even a twig.
"Miss Kettleburn," the man nearly had a heart attack and almost fell out of his chair. "I quite like the appearance of my bushes. Stick to trimming," His face was NOT a happy face.

Zahra dropped the dueling stance. So.... he didn't like it like that. She felt properly chastised. Kind of embarrassed, actually. Like maybe she HAD misread Professor W.
She mumbled a sorry, turned her back to him, and .... trimmed the bush in the boring way.
...
She was quiet for like a whole minute. "Professor? Can you not be like the rest of the Professors?" |

She was quiet for like a whole minute. "Professor? Can you not be like the rest of the Professors?" She actually listened. Sweet! And there wasn't a smile anymore. Things were starting to look up.
Andrew watched the girl trim the bushes the right boring way and was pleased by the performance. It was calm except for the sound of leaves rustling as the wind went through them.
But then the Gryffindor talked again. Which wasn't surprising.
Her question took him by surprise, though. He never thought if he was like anyone or if he wanted to be. "I do not understand." he arched an eyebrow at her. "How can I be different? We all have to teach," And give homework and detention. The last two parts were the bright side of the job.

| CoMC Homework #1 - Post 8 ♥s her SS family l Wifey is MINE | Naughty Niffler l Whittysaur l #awkwardturtle<# Exercise time for the little fairies, so Lux was headed back to the greenhouses. This was their routine now, going to the greenhouse after fairy food. And then their jar was cleaned while the fairies were tired and wouldn't be a flight hazard.
Setting the jar down on one of the tables, Lux opened the lid and watched them zoom off laughing, heading towards the plants. As long as they continued to behave and not cause serious damage everything was all good. She was not so keen to serve detention with Professor Walton because he did not seem as nice as Professor Bentley; honestly she still wasn't sure what to make of the man.
Keeping her eyes glued to her charges, Lux watched them playing while making sure that they didn't get too close to the doorway. Soon it would be time for them to come back and they never listened to her so this would be fun. Not. In all honesty it was easier just to immobilize them, but she couldn't find it in herself to do that without first giving them a chance. "Alright, guys. Time to come back." Of COURSE they ignored her. Maybe it was just the language barrier, but at this point they SHOULD know the routine. "Do not make me immobilize you two!" But of course she did in the end.
Sighing, she placed them back into their jar. "Sometimes you guys make fairysitting so hard." But she still enjoyed it. |

"Never mind," she shrugged. Just forget it. Maybe all Professors WERE the same. Zahra just kind of wanted one of them LIKE HER though? To not assume she was up to no good or not listening or not on task just because she doing it a LITTLE differently. "I'll go start on these down here. You don't have to stay, I won't screw it up." |

"I'll go start on these down here. You don't have to stay, I won't screw it up." Hmm? That was a sudden change of spirit. Hormonal teenagers. Andrew was never going to understand them, was he? He wondered if one day he would be able to just a little bit, not that it really bothered him not understanding. But maybe it would help him deal with the kids.
He didn't have to stay? This was like his home and he wasn't bothered at all by having to stay even if he looked like he was bothered all the time. Too bad people couldn't see through him. "I have no where else to be, Miss Kettleburn," he told her rising to his feet and grabbing the chair near one of the cupboards where he settled and started rummaging. It wasn't even messy but the man started rearranging equipment and bottles of fertilizers anyway.
He worked in silence glancing every now and hen at the Gryffindor just to be sure she wasn't going to practice her arts again. Don't mind the man who had little faith in humans in general. Hm. She was doing well. Good. That meant he didn't have to look every two seconds. And it wasn't all that bad having someone working with him here.
