As the sun sets over the lake and the event comes to a close you're all invited to gather by the edge of the lake. There's no need to bundle, there's plenty of shore and seeing room for everyone who wants to see the grand finale; the great firework show. The only lights present are those of torches spred evenly to prevent everyone from bumping into each other but nothing else in an effort to make the firework show as spectacular as possible.
The heating charms are still in place however the little chill at the end of the day can still be felt. Hope you dried properly if you'd taken part in the water sports. The Healer's not looking for company tonight.
You watch the last of the sun's light vanish and the noises of the evening begin pouring in. That's when you see it, the first explosion of light shooting up into the night sky. It's quickly followed by another, then another until the sky is ablaze with bright and brilliant colours. Enjoy the show with friends or that special someone but remember, your student leaders are watching and are prepared to haul your butts off to a Professor at the first sign of 'trouble'.
Startled, she moved away slightly when the Professor tossed the book away and started getting mad. "Ummm, Professor....what are you talking about?" Who had he been possessed by?
...was the girl talking to him?
"I'm talking about YOU inconsiderate things infesting MY castle. GET OUT! ALL OF YA!"
Norah tried to concentrate on the fireworks but SOME people kept talking. She propped herself up on her elbows to look for the source of the ruckus when she saw the book. THE book. And then Professor Culloden was yelling. Uh oh. She shot a fearful look at Ian and flopped back onto the blanket, facing the sky.
Maintaining her calm and blocking out everyone else, Norah answered Ian's question.
"I like the kind that kind of...falls. Y'know? The ones that leave a trail of starry lights."She tried as hard as she could to concentrate on the fireworks, but then some other guy was yelling too, and Professor Culloden was telling them all to leave. The second year knew she shouldn't get involved, but it was getting difficult. With one more panicky glance in Ian's direction, she shoved her fingers into her ears and stared up at the sky. There. Nothing weird going on.
Things were getting pretty crazy really fast. He saw the groundskeeper reading the book. Kace rolled his eyes and shouldn't everyone know this book was bad news? Now they were getting mad and apparently the Groundskeeper was the Giant and he didn't know what Cosgratch . He thought he might go get the book and put it away. But then he was talking to Lux pretty harshly and possibly scaring her. Kace stepped in to protect her.
"Heyyy don't talk to her like that!" he told the Professor loudly, he didn't even know what to call him since he wasn't himself.

"Heyyy don't talk to her like that!" he told the Professor loudly, he didn't even know what to call him since he wasn't himself.
Things were escalating very quickly. Somewhere off to the side, Lux could hear the Groundskeeper who had apparently been possessed by the giant from Jack and the Beanstalk. She wanted to tell him that he should have known better than to pick up the book after Professor Culloden had thrown it aside, but she was being yelled at so she couldn't.
Kace was protecting her which was really nice of him, and she appreciated it. He was a really good friend. "Listen to Kace, Professor. Please calm down." He was scaring her and she wanted to hide from his anger.
Gabe wasn't at all sure about hand holding...and to properly express this, he stared down at her extended hand with some trepidation. It was getting properly dark now....and if he did decide to try this, it wouldn't be so noticeable to people around them. Which, in turn, meant if he had an anxiety attack, it wouldn't be as embarrassing.....right?! There had been vomit that last time...and if that ever happened again, he was switching schools...or going back to tutors.....OR SOMETHING. Hogwarts would not remain in his life.
..........but CB looked kinda hopeful.....and..........Well, he didn't want to disappoint her for...some reason. He didn't understand anything about it....This. It was overwhelming and frustrating to be lost and confused about something...when he spent so much time researching and gaining knowledge. AND SHE WAS A GIRL....but that didn't matter in this case.
Face screwed up with his frustration...Gabriel carefully reached out and took her hand......just as the first burst of fireworks lit the night sky. He scowled at their ridiculous timing, trying to split his focus enough to make this okay. If he could forget about the small contact, Gabe could make it through......and her feelings wouldn't be...hurt...because...he didn't want CB to be hurt....
There weren't any body tremors or cold sweats....So, some progress?
Okay.
She was holding his hand. Look at that. And he was... he was okay. She kept taking peeks at him to make sure, her grip loose, before trying to fully focus on the fireworks. Not that that was really possible. 'Cause she was holding his hand and it was warm and nice. Her head tilted a little closer to him so that she wouldn't have to super shout over the fireworks. "Have you ever seen fireworks before?"
Weren't they pretty?
A happy sigh came over the ravenclaw, her head tilted up toward the sky and had moved back to where it was before she asked the question.
Her attention was taken out of the sights after a moment, her head whipping around at the shouting happening nearby.
What on earth...?
She squinted toward the sounds, recognizing one as Culloden and the other........ was that the groundskeeper? Her brows furrowed in confusion at them and she turned back to Gabe, worry flying across her face. "You..... I.... Should I do something?" Could she do anything? Should they leave? Like they were being not so pleasantly asked to?

Ruby was starting to relax a bit more because there was nooo sign of Sophie that she could see. That was good, she'd not have her date night ruined then. Not that she had a problem with the younger so much younger, like for real what was she, like twelve? girl, but she also wouldn't want to sit here and try and keep smiling and act like it was just whatever. Who would?
She liked when she could get Gray to smile like that too, which was more and more often really. Not his smirky smirk but a proper smile. It was nice. She shrugged and smiled back at him.
"I always help the people I care about." Ruby said lightly, and then her own smile grew. He was so..... supportive. And real about it. And she wasn't used to that at all . It actually made her kind of sort of feel like she could maybe make something of herself, like by herself and for real and not just relying on her looks and aiming to marry some rich guy like her mum constantly suggested was her best chance. "You'll have to let me do your nails some time." She said whimsically. Grayson could totally pull it off.
Would what make things different, believing in fate or less people being around? Before Ruby could ask for clarification, the firework show began and Gray was excitedly drawing her attention to it. Ruby was totally inclined to be excited about it too. It was beautiful! And exciting and it was sort of a nice thing to share with someone. She shot a little, appreciative smile Grayson's way and then looked up at the sky in unadulterated wonder.
Ït's so beautiful!" She said, sounding delighted, eyes on the sky, an unguarded open-mouthed smile playing on her lips. Not that she expected otherwise but things were always better in the moment.
Could you wish on fireworks? Where would she even begin?
Oh? He did alright. Not great, not brilliant, just alright. Grayson raised his eyebrows at that. How was she always so good at being so.......... enticing? Was that the word? "You're gonna give me something to work towards. Maybe one day I can dress brilliantly in Ruby Banner's eyes."
The smile on his face wasn't disappearing anytime soon. She always helped the people she cared about. It kinda made a part of him wonder whether she cared about him so much to give him so much and yet, still want to help him out. They were friends, sure, but he wasn't used to this and he certainly wasn't used to being vulnerable or whatever it was. "They appreciate it." At least, he certainly did. Uh huh.
LOL. "These nails?" he asked, holding up his hands and his stubby nails, "You're not gonna turn me into your personal model, are you? Advertise your future business?" Not that he'd have any complaints with that OR the nail painting idea, especially given the previous conversations between the two of them. Besides, dude could pull them off. He was good looking enough.
Grayson WAS excited about the fireworks. Look at the colours, man! He smiled widely back at Ruby and whispered loudly enough for her to hear, "Yeah, beautiful," before looking back up at the sky again, "Never seen fireworks like these before."
"You look really happy, by the way." Juuuuuust saying.

He confidently stood on his tiny feet and stomped them as loud as he possibly could. "F-eii..." Woops, there was a bit of a whiny crack in his voice there. Archie The Giant cleared his throat and bellowed, "FEE-FI-FO-FUM!!!" Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, more growling rumbled inside of him as he stomped closer to the student. It was only slightly difficult to hear because of the fireworks.
Suddenly thinking about his stomach, The Giant narrowed his eyes on every little face wandering around the grounds. "BOY, tell me... what are all of these humans doing on MY LAND?????" The Giant's awfully high-pitched voice yelled.
Dylan watched in awe as the letters seemed to rise from the book, but before he could ask about what was going on, the groundskeeper had turned on him and was yelling...

What? Dylan's eyes widened and he let out a nervous chuckle. Was the groundskeeper just being silly or- WHOA now he was yelling to ask what everyone was doing on his land. "Um..." he bit his lip, unsure if he should 'play along' or if that book had done something to him. But for all he knew, it could be some Halloween trick. Hmm. "We're here for the fireworks show." he simply said in a small voice. He couldn't quite think of anything else to say.

"Oh there's always plenty to work towards, Gray." Ruby answered in that purr that he by now must be getting quite familiar with. She could hear the ruckus going on some distance away but she was at this point of being at Hogwarts, pretty good at shutting the annoying things out. So long as they didn't come over here or stop the fireworks then it wasn't her concern.
She would've winked at him in acknowledgement of appreciation and all but it was dark enough that he might not have seen, so she grabbed his hand instead and gave it a little squeeze before letting go. She appreciated him too. The stuff he said. The confidence boost... beyond the superficial ego stuff even. Didn't need to say all that though did she? He was a good person and she had promised not to tattle to the world how sweet he secretly was. He had a reputation to protect. Teehee.
"I won't force you, but you would make a fun one." A fun model. Magical nail art for men could totally be a thing right? Not many of the boys here could truly pull it off with any confidence. Aaaand besides: "Plus its a great excuse to hold your hand." Not that she needed excuses for the things she did.
It was nice that he agreed with her. She wondered who had paid for the fireworks, they WERE good ones, and good didn't come cheap. She'd seen a few fireworks displays in her time, but it wasn't just about what you saw, was it? It was also about who you shared it with. "I guess I am happy. This just... feels good. This night. The fireworks. The company..." Ruby peeked at him, smiled, and then looked up at the sky again. Not every day at Hogwarts was as good and easy as this one.
"Oh look at that one!" The burst lit the sky up, and it seemed like for a moment everything was illuminated. Ruby laughed and kept her eyes on the sky. Grayson was right, she was happy right now.

CB, the Professors, and the infamous glowing book. XD
Zombie Apocalypse Team Leader ★ ★ in a crown of pepperoni and artisan cheese
Gabe had been furtively tossing looks at their hands.....trying to decide how he felt about.....it, in general....but then there were loud noises and CB....was asking him something.
What?
.....After a beat, he noticed that the potion's master was one of the sources for the noises....along with another man he wasn't familiar with. Yes, Gabe knew him to be the grounds keeper...but no more past that.
What in the hell.....?
"I think we should....stay out of it....." The memory of Astro was still fresh in the Ravenclaw's mind...When these professors got in character....they really got in character. Also...he'd noticed the glowing book in the grounds keeper's hands....finding it rather strange looking. Was it used to get into the mindset of whatever character they were going to be portraying? It was curious....and the more inquisitive side of Gabriel's personality was intrigued...but no...they were trying to, erm, enjoy? fireworks. Was this really the place?
These people were so......weird.
".......What do you.....think?" He leaned in and whispered.

Gabe, staring at Culloden, and a few mentions here and there :3
Ern's Walmart Greeter
Her eyes darted back over to the professors in the brief moment between sentences.
They were being loud and so very obviously not themselves. Well at least Culloden wasn't... She knew him. Culloden didn't yell at people as far as she knew. That dork had called her 'cool' last term. There was no way that man could get irrationally angry and attempt to kick everyone out of the castle.
Maybe Gabe was right...... Maybe she ought to ignore it and keep out of it... whatever it was....
But he wanted them to leave. And she didn't want to leave. "We'll stay right here, then?" She shot more looks at the two professors, specifically Culloden. She wanted to do something... He was yelling at poor Lux... But... Kace seemed to have it... so maybe it'd be okay. Besides, she was no Gryffindor. She'd leave the brave acts to them, yeah?
She couldn't stop looking though.....
Staring, even.
"We should............ mind our own... You're right." she whispered back and attempted to refocus on the fireworks.

......Huh, she didn't sound too sure...about that. Gabriel flushed slightly.
"........Isn't this.....normal?" He really didn't know anything about what was considered customary for this school. Hogwarts, in and of itself, was a very........strange place.
Gabe slowly inched away from the loud noises...tugging CB with him. He didn't want her to......get hurt by any....stray curses or hexes (or objects)....that might fly....if it were to come to that.

So focusing wasn't that easy. But she was doing her very best... The whole thing was starting to freak her out, honestly.
Not the fireworks. The everything else.
She shook her head. "Not really... Last term we were nearly frozen to death... This is all entirely new to me." Soph would've mentioned if it had been like that before... So.... this had to be something new. "It's always been weird from what i've read but... Not like this." And Coral fancied herself a little bit of a Hogwarts expert. A history geek to his science nerd.
As she was being tugged away, Coral's foot caught on something hard, a rock perhaps? Maybe a little hole in the the earth? Something.
And next thing she knew, she was headed toward the ground.

.....So, this wasn't the norm.....
.............but really, would there be articles written in historical books about cosplaying professors? It didn't seem an important enough event...for that kind of notoriety. Were hobbies book-worthy? Random activities, even?
There was something off about it, though. Gabriel would admit that much. Professor Culloden really didn't seem like that sort....and he couldn't speak for the other man.
......Oh.
CB had lurched forward, pushing against his hand...and Gabriel turned in surprise, thinking something had prompted her to run. WERE CURSES STARTING TO FLY? DID THEY NEED A QUICK ESCAPE?!.......Somehow between turning and those two rapid thoughts, he'd put himself in the line of her body...and she'd crashed into him hard, causing Gabe to cushion her fall to the ground.
.................
O.o!

Ian had been doing his very best to ignore those who'd touched and 'read' the book. It was getting a little difficult to do that, even with the spectacular fireworks display. On top of that, Norah was also distracted by the professors acting up. Ian recalled a number of those same issues coming up throughout the year. It would seem at some point, this book would be put somewhere 'far, far away'. He stared as Culloden and the groundskeeper started acting like fairy tale creatures. It's not happening, this is just part of the show Ian told himself.
He turned to Norah as she answered his question. Those are rather nice. Like leaving little ant trails in the sky. He noticed her slightly panicky glance in his direction before she placed her fingers in her ears. He didn't know how to comfort her. He wondered to himself what he should do. When she looked back up at the sky, he thought this would be a good solution for her. He looked back to the sky and scooted a bit closer to her and tried to whisper in her ear. It will be ok. Maybe they will leave.

It soon became clear that The Giant was currently located on EARTH. Perhaps this wasn't his land after all. Which, of course, mustered up one MIGHTY frown on his face. Had this puny book in his hands transported him to Earth, of all places?!?!?! It also had become apparent that he wasn't his usual giant self, but a scrawny, tiny, human-sized (barely even human-sized, actually. Hobbit-sized) giant.
The Giant slammed the book to the ground and stomped even closer to the boy.
"WHERE is my BEANSTALK, child???" He yelled in the most authoritative voice he could manage in this state.

She wanted to be more like herself with him. Not..... on top of him. Her cheeks turned a deep shade of red, and she offered the boy a baffled look before scrambling off of him, apologizing profusely as she went.
Ignoring the little bit of pain she felt (especially in her ankle- OUCH), the overwhelming feeling of embarrassment, and for once, not caring about grass stains, the girl knelt beside him. Close, but not too close.
"Are you okay? Did I hurt you?"

Dang, Ruby Banner, dang it all. That purr. MAN. He was always the one that asked for extra but she was the one who gave him that little sliver and made him want more. "I hope you mean that in a motivational way and not in a 'your sense of style is letting you down, Grayson' way." He was kinda intrigued to know what she thought about this. Uh huh.
That hand holding and the squeeze? Grayson hadn't expected that. Not even a bit. It was what made him look down at their hands and smile to himself, even after she had let go. He knew what that meant. 'Course he did. It was why he looked back at her and smiled in return, not caring whether she could see it or not. 'Least she wasn't offended or whatever.
Lulz. A fun model? "You're probably right about that. I could model your nail art. And get more people to do the same, you know." See? They were talking business. And it wasn't even a bad talk, either. Heh. An excuse for holding his hand? "You sure you need an excuse for that, Rubes?" SMIRK.
She was happy. Grayson's smile widened at that as he looked over in her direction. "I always make good company." HELLO? It was HIM. "You're not bad company either, Banner." Just saying. And he was happy too, in case she was wondering. But was he gonna tell her that? Not yet.
"Brilliant!" he whispered loudly, keeping his eyes on the sky, "Where did they get these fireworks from? They look much different from the normal, muggle ones."

Professor Culloden was still yelling at her, and it was freaking Lux out more and more. Telling him to calm down wasn't helping, and he would not listen to Kace. Her second favourite Professor had been transformed into a beast; not just any beast, THE Beast from Beauty and the Beast.
Watching the man walk off, she shook her head. "Thank you for sticking up for me, Kace." She was still shaken up, but at least Professor Culloden was gone now.
Hogwarts RPG Name: The Fairy Tale Book of Fairy Tales
Graduated
After being thrown to the ground yet again, The Fairy Tale Book of Fairy Tales popped itself back upright and let off a new coloured glow. A flicker of sparkles lifted from the cover, mimicking the fireworks above.
It wasn't ready to vanish just yet. Not at a juicy event like this one!
Come, students! Ignore those professor!beasts and take a look at this magical book for yourself!

Still getting over her shakiness, Lux looked around and spotted that stinking book. She needed to get rid of it for once and for all. Somehow.
Getting to her feet, she walked over to where it was and picked it up. She couldn't help but notice that it was glowing and it looked like there were sparkles too.

"Definitely the motivational way, cutie. There's always room for improvement." Maybe he'd even learn something from her. There was a thought - Ruby wondered how much he'd already learned from her. In general. Hopefully useful things. But anyway, it could be fun too, right?
"How could I ever repay you for helping me advertise?" Ruby asked teasingly. She was sure they could both think of plenty of ways, but the banter was fun. As for the hand holding... "Maybe I don't. Do you?" Need an excuse for it? Because her hand was right here if he wanted it. It was a good hand, he knew that too.
Ruby giggled at his assertion that he was good company, didn't need to tell her that, did he? Obvy she wouldn't bother with him if he wasn't. She fixed her eyes on the sky again, still smiling. "You can buy magical fireworks you know. They're usually brighter and bigger and last longer, and some of them are shaped like things... you know, dragons and whatever, and they move around." Hadn't he seen before? That was cute. Ruby leaned against Grayson a little bit and kept watching the show. Too bad it couldn't last forever.

David made his way closer to the area where the fireworks were going off...and was that more professors acting...strange? More Disney character impersonations?
He grinned. Who could he mess with now, hmmm?
Oh wait, one professor was already walking off. There was still the other adult guy over there, but before David could head over to him, he caught sight of a girl with a glowing book. Hey, wasn't that...
He walked over to her. Yeah, that kind looked like that glowing book from the common room a few months ago. Was it months? He couldn't remember when it'd happened.
Anyway. "I dunno if it's a good idea to read that," he said. Seemed kinda suspicious with all the Disney character stuff happening and the magic glowing and what not.

Ian watched as the fireworks lit up the sky, but he couldn't help but notice the book. It was so intriguing. It was so glow-y. It just kind of drew you in. He saw another student pick it up and stare at it and another student walk over that way. Ian just kind of did everything he could to stay there. It helped that he was hanging out with Norah. He looked over and she seemed to be enjoying the fireworks and he watched them with her.
