As the sun sets over the lake and the event comes to a close you're all invited to gather by the edge of the lake. There's no need to bundle, there's plenty of shore and seeing room for everyone who wants to see the grand finale; the great firework show. The only lights present are those of torches spred evenly to prevent everyone from bumping into each other but nothing else in an effort to make the firework show as spectacular as possible.
The heating charms are still in place however the little chill at the end of the day can still be felt. Hope you dried properly if you'd taken part in the water sports. The Healer's not looking for company tonight.
You watch the last of the sun's light vanish and the noises of the evening begin pouring in. That's when you see it, the first explosion of light shooting up into the night sky. It's quickly followed by another, then another until the sky is ablaze with bright and brilliant colours. Enjoy the show with friends or that special someone but remember, your student leaders are watching and are prepared to haul your butts off to a Professor at the first sign of 'trouble'.
Were they seeing this? Was everyone seeing this? Her head tilted to the left and then to the right. Of course they were seeing this. Fireworks weren't silent. Duh. C'mon, CB. How could it not draw their attention?
Her head was tilted up, arms wrapped around herself tightly as the slight chill had fallen over the area, her eyes following the explosions of lights.
She turned her head again, eyes landing on Gabe, and he received her brightest grin. She shuffled a little closer to him, resisting all of her urges to cling to his arm and lean against him as she would habitually do with any of her companions. But he was different. And she knew that. She knew better.
Maybe he wouldn't mind holding hands?
Her eyes grew a little wider as she looked up at him, her head not tilting too much, forcing her eyebrows to go up slightly as her gaze did, and slowly offered him her hand.

The evening sky, once uninterrupted now contained the first streaks of colour. The first was followed by another ... then another ... until slowly the sky became filled with brilliant light and the unmistakable sound of exploding fireworks. Blues, reds, yellows and greens, a splash of orange, and blinding white.
Gather around, the show has started!
OOC: the other threads in this forum will close in approximately 24 hours! Be sure to wrap up all your fun and come enjoy the fireworks!

Ian walked alongside Norah to the area set aside for fireworks. He had leaned over as they passed the area with blankets and had been able to grab an excellent Hufflepuff one as well as a black checked one. When they made it to what Ian considered a nice spot, he fluffed out the black blanket so they would have a good place to sit and Norah wouldn't need to sit on the grass and mess up her skirt. He extended his left hand in the direction of the now spread out blanket and said M'lady. You're viewing spot is prepared. he feigned a fun bow and grinned and extended his hand toward her to assist her to sit on the blanket as another streak of glowing light went to the heavens, illuminating Norah's face.

He'd had fun. His arms were tired, his legs too... and right now the last thing he wanted to do was stand and strain his neck. Nope. Finding himself a spot along the lake's shore, a little further down from some of the others, Zeke flopped onto the ground, laying on his back and staring up at the sky.
...
Muggle fireworks were awesome. Wizarding ones were even better.

Fireworks! This was so awesome! Hadleigh had made her way to an open spot and sat herself down in the grass. She was so so so tired but the day had been great! She'd had a wonderful time doing everything that had been offered.
Tilting her head back she watched as the fireworks went off above her lighting up the sky in blues, reds, oranges ect. It was a beautiful sight to be seen. All that was missing was someone to actually watch it with... yeah yeah she had everyone else at the school but it wasn't the same really. Nothing could really beat watching fireworks with your family and best friend.
Letting out a small sigh she laid back in the grass folding her arms under her head to watch the fireworks better.
Cosgrach didn't want to skip the event, no. He simply wanted to skip part of it, and come to the best part: FIREWORKS! He LOVED them, so he was there. With a camera to capture them, too.
He didn't look where he sat, but he sat somewhere and started watching them with a mesmerised expression.

Maybe it wasn't as bright as the fireworks, but suddenly the floor began to glow. However, a closer look would reveal it wasn't the floor, but a book... of fairy tales. Its golden letters sparkled, and the Book almost made itself pretty for someone to grab and read it.

Ian had seen something glowing on the ground. He walked over quickly to see what it was. Didn't want no fireworks causing an actual fire where they were gathered. When he got there, he saw THE BOOK. He knew what that was and the last time he'd seen it, he didn't remember a week and when he did remember, he was wearing ridiculous clothes. He quickly made his way back to Norah and left that awful book alone. He thought about warning people, but shouldn't a glow-y book be enough warning?

Oh. Oooooh. He was in a trance. Slowly, almost gently, he held the book. His mouth was slightly ajar, and with confusion, he opened it to read.

Kace heard the fireworks going off and thought it was pretty cool to be seeing this. This was nothing compared to the firework festival he had back home but he was impressed all the same. Wizards did know how to party and celebrate. As he was looking down he saw a book that looked familiar. He gave it a quizzical look and he saw the Professor picking it up. "Ermm professor I wouldn't hold that if I were you..." he suggested.
He actually witnessed the effect of what the book did to Cinna. She was turned into cinderella, this girl Maddie he knew from lessons was Goldilocks and he met one girl who was Beauty. He was starting to see the pattern.

A book of fairy tales... whose book was this?
The Book turned some pages on its own and stopped at a certain page, the beginning of a story it contained. The letters glowed even more as the man read...

Fireworks were super pretty, so Lux was really happy to watch them. Muggles and wizards really knew how to have fun when it came to this sort of thing and she always liked watching firework displays. It would be so cool if she was able to make her own one day but at least her and Bay would invent an ice cream flavour which was so exciting.
Hearing Kace talking to someone, she turned her attention to him and saw that he was warning Professor Culloden about something. That something being the fairytale book which was now glowing. "Please put it down, Professor. That's what made Cinna think she was Cinderella." Culloden knew what happened since Bart had told him about it.
Startled, she moved away slightly when the Professor tossed the book away and started getting mad. "Ummm, Professor....what are you talking about?" Who had he been possessed by?

"I have opened my castle to you, but is this how you thank me!?" By disturbing him? He obviously was not impressed with this lot!
Archie was a bit nervous about the whole firework situation, but it was better to be here with people rather than hiding underneath his bed on his own, he supposed. He got to his feet as soon as he saw a fellow professor, the potions master, and he made his way over despite the man looking a bit distracted. Ohhh, but the surrounding kids....
He was going to turn right back around after he saw those guys, but what...?! A glowing book was suddenly being thrown at his feet. How rude.
Wait, a glowing book?
Archie scratched his head and carelessly picked it up. He examined the front cover, before looking up to see what was up with Culloden and the students. Eh, they looked busy. Archie wandered in the direction of the castle with the magical book wedged under his arm, fully intending to take it back to the library.

Despite being rudely thrown into the air by its latest victim reader, The Fairy Tale Book of Fairy Tales was soon picked up by another adult. How exciting. Although... this man appeared to have no intentions of reading it?
How absurd!
The book warmed his entire underarm, to a point that he would notice, and finished with the most inviting glow it had possible. Read me!

Because it was a cold night, the sudden warmth under his arm did not go unnoticed. Archie frowned and pulled the book in front of him to look at properly. Dang, that glow.
The fact that it obviously wanted to be opened, made Archie not want to open it. He knew about the dangers of magical objects and stuff.
.....
But, like, one peek wouldn't hurt. He couldn't help himself. Besides, a harmless book of fairy tales lying in the middle of the school grounds couldn't possibly pose any threat. So he went ahead and opened the book straight down the middle. Didn't seem too dark and dangerous so far, so he flicked a few more pages...

She hoped he wasn't quite so stressed about it as he had been, he did seem more at ease at least. Hmm thoooughhh was she looking forward to anything? "Aside from Summer? Just getting out of here, I guess. Ummm... I was thinking, because you made me think about it actually, with all the stuff with your mum and everything, maybe when I get done with school I could do this and get paid for it." 'This' was emphasized with Ruby showing off her nails which were painted black with bright bursts of fireworks, charmed to 'burst' periodically on each nail. She was pretty proud of how she'd managed to do them actually, and she did find it fun painting all the girls' nails at school. "I know its not like some respectable career or whatever, but it might be something I can actually do, you know?" She didn't need to be all book smart to do it either, and he knew how she felt about all of that. It wasn't exactly a plan though, to answer his questions, she was definitely far more inclined to just... see how things went. Better not to get your hopes up sometimes.
Hit it off. Yeah they totally had. She couldn't help but wonder if it would be different now though if Sophie had been on the field trip. Probably. That would suck.
"Too bad neither of us believe in fate." Ruby said, smiling slightly, focusing squarely on Grayson again. SOOO much more interesting than introspective stuff or thinking too much about what was in her own head. She studied him for a moment and her smile widened. "Did I mention you look really good tonight?"
An appreciator of a nice pair of jeans? Grayson raised his eyebrows at that, thoroughly enjoying where this conversation was going. "WELL. I certainly hope I'm wearing my jeans right enough for you, Miss Banner." He never usually took much consideration into his sense of style but maybe this was a wake up call. Maybe.
There was a smile. An actual smile as he glanced in the direction of his fellow fifth year. "That means a ton to me. Thanks a bunch for all your help." Had he said that too much? Probably. It was still pretty surprising to him because he didn't expect to receive the help he had received and quite a bit of it was from this girl sitting right next to him. The girl who was talking about her own future and...... nails? "Sweet! YEAH! You could open up your own business. Lots of people will wanna come and get their nails done professionally. And once you get rolling, the money will keep on coming." Grayson didn't know much about this business but he had a funny feeling that she could make big bucks. Especially if she used magic with it. "Who cares if it's a respectable career or not? Like you said, it'll be something you can do and can make a living out of. Don't give two knuts about what other people say." Besides, haters are gonna hate.
Fate. FATE. Grayson shrugged before saying, "Too bad. Would it have made things different?" Probably, right? And......... SMIRK. Another one. "Oh yeah?" he asked, wiggling her eyebrows at her, "How good?"
But before he could say anything else or try and listen out for an answer..........

As Dylan sat, admiring the fireworks that exploded high over their heads in the night sky, he couldn't help but notice in the corner of his eye a bit of a bright light. He ignored it for a minute but then it continued to glow and he turned his head to see a...book? Seeing it in the groundskeeper's hands, he stood and went over because he just couldn't help it. Norah skipped alongside Ian, staring up at the dark sky. She grinned at him as he laid down the blanket and gave him a curtsey and a regal nod in response to his bow. "Thank you, kind sir." Hehehe. Heh. There was ONE good thing about wearing a skirt, it made curtseying much more fun. Taking his hand, she set herself down carefully on the blanket before letting go and flopping the rest of her body onto it. She put her hands behind her head and stared up at the sky as bursts of light illuminated the darkness.

Ian laid down beside Norah and looked up into the skies. It was a pretty good time. He really liked the colorful splashes of light as they exploded over the assembled audience. He didn't see too many fireworks shows back at home. Not much time for fireworks when the men were out to sea. His favorites were the bright white ones that popped as they descended. He turned his head and watched Norah. She seemed to be having a really good time. what's your favorite one?

........... this was nice.
"You do alright." She said mischievously. He probably didn't need more of an ego boost, but she sure wouldn't mind going shopping with him some time. Phoenix could attest to the fact that she was super good fun to have along on a shopping trip.
Ruby was starting to relax a bit more because there was nooo sign of Sophie that she could see. That was good, she'd not have her date night ruined then. Not that she had a problem with the younger so much younger, like for real what was she, like twelve? girl, but she also wouldn't want to sit here and try and keep smiling and act like it was just whatever. Who would?
She liked when she could get Gray to smile like that too, which was more and more often really. Not his smirky smirk but a proper smile. It was nice. She shrugged and smiled back at him.
"I always help the people I care about." Ruby said lightly, and then her own smile grew. He was so..... supportive. And real about it. And she wasn't used to that at all . It actually made her kind of sort of feel like she could maybe make something of herself, like by herself and for real and not just relying on her looks and aiming to marry some rich guy like her mum constantly suggested was her best chance. "You'll have to let me do your nails some time." She said whimsically. Grayson could totally pull it off.
Would what make things different, believing in fate or less people being around? Before Ruby could ask for clarification, the firework show began and Gray was excitedly drawing her attention to it. Ruby was totally inclined to be excited about it too. It was beautiful! And exciting and it was sort of a nice thing to share with someone. She shot a little, appreciative smile Grayson's way and then looked up at the sky in unadulterated wonder.
Ďt's so beautiful!" She said, sounding delighted, eyes on the sky, an unguarded open-mouthed smile playing on her lips. Not that she expected otherwise but things were always better in the moment.
Could you wish on fireworks? Where would she even begin?

Gabe wasn't at all sure about hand holding...and to properly express this, he stared down at her extended hand with some trepidation. It was getting properly dark now....and if he did decide to try this, it wouldn't be so noticeable to people around them. Which, in turn, meant if he had an anxiety attack, it wouldn't be as embarrassing.....right?! There had been vomit that last time...and if that ever happened again, he was switching schools...or going back to tutors.....OR SOMETHING. Hogwarts would not remain in his life.
..........but CB looked kinda hopeful.....and..........Well, he didn't want to disappoint her for...some reason. He didn't understand anything about it....This. It was overwhelming and frustrating to be lost and confused about something...when he spent so much time researching and gaining knowledge. AND SHE WAS A GIRL....but that didn't matter in this case.
Face screwed up with his frustration...Gabriel carefully reached out and took her hand......just as the first burst of fireworks lit the night sky. He scowled at their ridiculous timing, trying to split his focus enough to make this okay. If he could forget about the small contact, Gabe could make it through......and her feelings wouldn't be...hurt...because...he didn't want CB to be hurt....
There weren't any body tremors or cold sweats....So, some progress?

It was too late for Archie to be bothered by an interruption, otherwise he probably would have flinched a mile. He blinked his eyes tightly together for a moment, before slamming the book shut, and then he opened them very wide. He opened them with a FROWN, actually, with an apparent rumbling growl bubbling up from his throat.
He confidently stood on his tiny feet and stomped them as loud as he possibly could. "F-eii..." Woops, there was a bit of a whiny crack in his voice there. Archie The Giant cleared his throat and bellowed, "FEE-FI-FO-FUM!!!" Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, more growling rumbled inside of him as he stomped closer to the student. It was only slightly difficult to hear because of the fireworks.
Suddenly thinking about his stomach, The Giant narrowed his eyes on every little face wandering around the grounds. "BOY, tell me... what are all of these humans doing on MY LAND?????" The Giant's awfully high-pitched voice yelled.
