| | Divination Lesson 3 As you come through the trap door you will find a normal sight. Smaller tables set around the room with pillows for your chairs. A few tea pots set around the room and cups for your liking and a very happy Professor Cassie at the front sipping on her own tea waiting to greet you as you come in.
Though it is normal with the lavender scents and soft relaxing music, you will notice on one table in the front left corner the crystal balls sit waiting to be used, in the back of the room mirrors that might remind you of the awful last lesson stand, in the right front corner bowls are stacked on a table, and on Professor Cassie's desk sits crystals on a string.
Something you might not see is the usual snap cup, but fear not there is a note about that. Quote:
My snap cup is still missing, but please bring up your proud moments and set in this tea cup! Also remember to set your personal item in the basket before taking your seat. We will discuss these in a moment.
Next to the temporary snap cup you will find a basket. If you remember on Professor Cassie's notice she had asked you to bring one personal item this is where that item should be placed. Angel couldn't believe it her sister had distracted her with the snort and then she hadn't done anything else... seriously did her sister have her knickers in a twist over this. She should have been apologising for snorting at her but alas she hadn't and Angel wasn't going to force her.
Angel had totally failed at seeing something in the water... her sister had made her fail but she would make sure that she did well with the mirror. "Sis you don't want to roll your eyes too much they might get stuck in a weird position." Angel wondered if there was a spell for that because it would just be so funny but she would never do anything bad to her sister.
Angel went over and looked at the Mirror... it was time she was going to have to try and do this or she would fail again and she wasn't in the mood for failing twice.

| #2 water bowl ˝ EagleBrain ♥ Creeperdoodle ♥ Raven Dor ♥ Berry ♥ ˝ Team House Elf The water looked like water to him, and try as he might, there was nothing else making an appearance in his visions or whatever. Despite Professor Cassie telling him he was great at this stuff, he still didn't understand the craft and he wasn't making any progress now... so... this was a bummer.
Sighing, Zeke shook his head clear and refocused. He adjusted the way he was sitting, instead of kneeling he crossed his legs beneath him. Now..
Try again.
Again, he started breathing, his gaze focused on the water in the bowl which was perfectly still at this minute, so that shouldn't pose a problem.

Angel decided that she would clear her mind and so she did... she stopped thinking about other things like her sister and her boyfriend... they were very hard to stop but she managed it after awhile and then she looked straight at the mirror.
Angel suddenly saw something in the mirror and she hated it, her sister was shouting at her and being really mean to her calling her names and stuff... this is not what she wanted to see and she could feel the tears starting to come down her face... could she please stop now? pretty... pretty please?

He was no Seer, that much was certain. But he was feeling as though his thoughts were leaving his head. In all honesty, he was becoming super tired from staring at the blank water. So tired in fact that with the HEAVY icky lavender in the room, and all of this breathing, he might even fall asleep.
His eyelids had drooped somewhat, so his vision was partly obscured, but his brain was well and truly numb and asleep. With everyone else doing much the same, the room was too quiet for him to even notice that other people existed right now. No, NOTHING existed, it just was what it was.
And that's when he DID start seeing things. Like, properly seeing things. None of this registered for him, but his eyes were seeing the fragmented messages from the future. (That's what they were right? RIGHT?)
There wasn't anything out of the ordinary. Not really. He was at home, at home home. Or was he even there at all? The house looked empty, but it wasn't... someone was there, he just couldn't see who.
And though it had taken him so long to get into a state where his inner eye could wake up, it only took a couple of seconds for him to break the connection. An itching on the back of his neck resulted in him scratching and coming into consciousness. BUT, there was no denying it, THIS time, it had worked. "Professor Cassie!" he exclaimed, realising his feat. "I did it! I scryed in the water!"
He couldn't really claim the others, they seemed more like his imagination to him than much else, but THIS, was veryyyyyy real.

Adi waited for the water to quit moving and stay still. While he waited, he took deep breaths and tried to clear his mind. No matter how many times one practiced clearing the mind, it never got easier times afterward.
So, a few more deep breaths before letting his eyes wander to the bowl of water. Everything was all still in the bowl. Excellent. And let the gazing commence! Maybe he would have better luck with this form of scrying.

| Post 3 Water Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna Benny was watching the water. Careful and focused...careful and focused. The still quiet surface of the filled bowl. Was there something to see? He tried to ignore the talking and movement going on around him, focusing solely on on the water but even still it was almost as if the water wasn't empty if one looked through and noticed any particular markings on the bowl. Or was it something else. His mind was as clear of anything else as he could get it.
He then thought he really did see something. The boy unconsciously squinting as if to see it better. Was it movement? Had he accidentally bumped the bowl or breathed on it too hard which caused a reaction? Water scrying certainly seemed as it would be more difficult since you have to worry about your method being disturbed by outside forces. Alas his on thought had developed into many and his concentration was broke.
Sigh.

Angel could feel the tears coming down her cheeks as she continued to watch this vision... seriously she wanted it to stop... pretty please? she would do anything? Angel was totally lost and seeing her vision wasn't good it was totally scary and she just hoped it wasn't true... why had the Professor made her do this stupid task... now she was sad and feeling really upset.
Angel continued to cry as the vision went... if it wasn't for the fact she was in the middle of the class she would just curl up and cuddle herself because everything was going wrong... maybe that was why Benny was mad with her... seriously things were going haywire. Angel had figured something out though Visions in the Mirror be bad.

The water bowl was a complete bust. The only thing that she saw in there was her very own reflection when she put her nose in the water. AJ wasn't surprised, not surprised at all. It was time to switch out her bowl for a mirror, not that it really mattered, she was sure to get the same results.
AJ walked up, did the exchange and walked back to her desk. She was just about to close her mind, and try to see something in the mirror when some sobbing caught her attention. There was no crying in scrying. Only there was, and AJ started to laugh in spite of herself. Crying literally was in scrying.
Focus... somebody was crying. AJ looked around and found the source. It was her sister, of course it was. Sensitive, that one was. "What's going on, Angel?" What could of happened?

Stare, stare, stare.
All Adi saw was the base of the bowl due to the transparency of the water. Maybe he could start over again? His mind had been wandering, anyway. He closed his eyes and tried not to think about ice cream. Uh huh. He felt like having the awesomely delicious frozen treat.
Opening his eyes again, the Hufflepuff let his eyes gaze into the bowl of water once more. A perfectly still spot if water. Come on out, images.

Angel suddenly heard her name being spoken by her sis... she could really use a hug right now but this was the middle of the lesson and she doubted that she could get away with giving her sister one. "Sis promise me... we'll never hate each other." Angel looked at her sister as she wiped her eyes... that mirror had shown something nasty and she didn't like it.

Eden swirled her finger around in the water, making it all wavy and not clear and stuff. Well that wasn't going to help...but Eden was doing it without realizing it, really. She took out her finger and siiiiiighed. "Water water in the bowl--show me if I'll fall in a hole--" she rattled off, more jokingly than anything, rolling her eyes at herself, gosh.
She let the water settle before shutting her eyes to clear her head properly. Funny feeling, though--the water would probably be more difficult than the mirror, if Ed had to GUESS.
SIGH.
She rubbed her temples again and did her best not to think of AAAANYTHING. Was she doing this RIGHT, though? She had already seen her Mam--so she tried to keep her dad in the back of her thoughts this time. She hadn't heard from him since that very yelly letter she had gotten from him last week. Hmph.

| Post 4 - Moving on to mirror! curly haired prefect - "sometimes I get angry!" - 30/90 - *chicken emoji* - probably @ Disney - I speak dog Alright, Caleb's time with the water was over, which he was kind of thankful for. That had been harder than he thought! Now to move onto the mirror...which would surely be distracting, as he wouldn't be able to concentrate looking at his adorable face.
Hehe. He was kidding. Kind of.
He swapped out his water for the mirror and settled back in his seat. Ok, so he had seen a cat in a tree in the last one...he doubted he'd see the same thing in the mirror. Everything was a lot CLEARER in the mirror, he wasn't sure he'd be able to pick out ANYTHING that wasn't supposed to be there from the reflection...but he'd give it a try. Why not, right?

Man this water bowl was getting really difficult because once he thought he saw something it was the reflection coming from the classroom. He was gonna do this! He began to focus and breathed in and out in and out. Once he did that he felt like he was going into a dream like state. He was beginning to feel very sleepy because of the tea and the warmness in the room. He was smiling and thought this was the perfect time to go and look in the water bowl.
He began to look at the center of the water bowl and was seeing something. He was starting to see what looked like an animal. Hmm....it was forming to something with four legs? Could it be a dog? A mythical creature? He had no idea it was just a dark outline of the creature. He kept his focus but then he had to sneeze! AACHHOOO!!!!!
Then his image was gone! Gahhh! He was sooo close! He grumbled and would try again.

What? Hate and promises? What had Angel seen in her vision? A smart remark came to her mind but considering that Angel had tears running down her face, AJ decided to keep it to herself. "I promise." Angel in turn needed to promise not to do anything stupid to make AJ want to hate her, but now was not the time to point that out. "What did you see?" A girl couldn't help but to be curious.
Good luck focusing now. AJ turned back to her mirror and shut her eyes for a few minutes. She tried to shut out a crying Angel and every other thing that seemed to want to pop into her mind now that she was trying to concentrate.
With her eyes opened again, she studied the mirror. All she saw was her own reflection. Surprise, surprise. AJ stared, and stared until her eyes started to cross. No luck here. Maybe the third time would be a charm?

Time to see if he could find anything in this water bowl. He check to see if he had to sneeze. Nope he was quite good. He closed his eyes and did the deep breathing exercising he was told to do. Even the tea quite helped and then as he opened his eyes and just concentrated on his bowl, he was beginning to see something. He thought he was seeing the creature again. But the shape was turning into a house. It was now forming into his house back home in Kansas and he could see the two story house and the front porch. He smiled and wished he could back home. He would be home soon enough and he knew what his inner eye was telling him.
He was either home sick which could be true or that he was missing his family because back in the mirror he was seeing his cousins and whole family. He was happy he could figure it out. Now what was gonna be the next activity?

So far, so good. He'd reached the 'clouded surface' stage with the mirror miles earlier than had happened with the bowl of water, so did that perhaps mean that he was likely to See something now whereas earlier he had not? Time would tell.
It was amazing how this required very little effort. In classes like Transfiguration and Charms and Ancient Runes and all that, the most important part of anything was to focus. Here, they had to do the opposite, had to NOT focus on ANYTHING. Strange how those two things could be just as difficult as each other.
Toby looked into the mirror, trying not to look for anything in particular, but just to watch and keep an open mind and be ready to identify anything SHOULD something happen.
Smoke. Just smoke. Sometimes the smoke looked a little bit like something else, but nothing really distinguishable. But he'd only just started, and the important thing here was to keep an open mind and keep on keeping on. It was good, at least, that he was keeping up the whole clear mind thing

Maybe it was just her imagination. She wasn't sure of what she seen anyway. So that didn't help much either. Maybe she just needed to work harder. Yep she was just going to go with she needed to work harder.
She looked back into the bowl. Throwing more positive energy around. Peering into the bowl she was finally seeing something. Maybe her inner eye wasn't broken. A treehouse, looked kinda like the treehouse on the grounds. Wait it was the tree house on the grounds. And someone was falling or jumping. She really couldn't tell who it was, though.
She tried to figure out who it was. She moved closer and closer until her face was almost close enough to touch the water. Which caused the water to ripple. And that made the scene disappear. Perfect timing to because the bell went off. Time to switch to the mirror now.

No matter how hard he tried, the water simply wasn't showing anything interesting to him apart from his own face. Nothing on there was answering any of his questions and frankly, he was disappointed. Again. He had had high hopes to receive some sort of answer to the question about his future -- kinda to ease his tension a little -- but did the water want to show anything? No.
Freaking stupid.
Scowling at it, he vanished the contents of the bowl before getting up to set it back to the place he had picked it up from. Even if it had shown him that he was gonna fail his OWLs, he wouldn't have cared. He would have been kinda delighted to know that he'd seen something but, most importantly, he'd have been delighted to know that he didn't need to study since he was gonna fail anyways. Brilliant logic, wasn't it?
ANYWAYS. Putting the bowl down, Grayson grabbed the mirror and eyed it. THIS needed to show him something good. Something interesting, too. Maybe WHY he was at the lake in the first place was a good place to start. Unless he could ask Professor Cassie that. Since no other piece of maic needed to be applied to this object, the Slytherin simply headed back over towards his seat with it.
This was gonna be hard, wasn't it?

Was someone crying? It wasn't any easier or harder the second time around and when he opened his eyes once more it was all he could to hope that maybe this time would turn out better. However after several minutes of nothing staring back at him while he was doing his best to keep nearly everything else out of his mind the fourth year was ready to give up and move on.
Time for the mirror.
Again.
He got up from his seat, careful not to knock his desk and the water-filled bowl while he moved. Exchanging the bowl for the mirror, the Gryffindor returned to his seat, spotting Angel as the possible source of the crying and frowning, questioning his movements. Should he go over? Let AJ, who was speaking with her try and handle it? Help AJ? For now Benny continued to his seat, taking it and setting the mirror on the desk while he prepared. Not that it all that possible thinking on Angel.

| Post #5; Mirror urine trouble | Pat's Strong Confident Other Half | Pees Like a Champion Unicorn Racehorse Hard was an understatement. If possible, this was even WORSE than the bowl of water. At least with the bowl of water, there had been some flickering. All he had managed to see in this little bugger was his own freaking reflection.
Which wasn't a bad sight. He even took a couple of seconds to smirk at his own reflection and bop his collar in the oh-so-cool way that he did sometimes when he was particularly proud of a fact he had just stated. Reaching up, he ran a hand through his hair in the same way Phe sometimes did because of reasons that he was gonna keep to himself.
Sooooooooo mirror mirror on the wall, care to show him anything at all?
Except the mirror wasn't ON the wall but sitting on his desk but there was no way he could think of anything that would rhyme with the word desk. Not right away, at least.
And he was getting distracted by his own thoughts. What else was new?
FOCUS, Whitty!

Cinna vanished the water and went to return the bowl back to the corner. Ugh that was way more stressful then it needed to be. She headed over to the corner where the mirrors were. She took one, headed back to the she seat. But this time she took to pillow chair and moved over to a nice quiet spot in the room.
Now let see if she could to some scrying in the mirror and see if she could figure out who was falling from the treehouse.
She wondered if scrying worked like that. Would or could you return back to something that you seen before could you continue to see it in another medium or was she going to get a totally different vision from the bowk of water?
Also could she get another cup of tea? She reallly needed to calm down and relax again. She went over and got another cup of tea. Went back to her pillow chair. She crossed her legs indian style and sipped on her tea. RELAX CINNA.

| #4 Water (even though he hasn't filled the bowl up yet) doesn't proofread tweets | #wrongaboutcereal | #siriusly? | emo to the extremo So erm... This mirror thing was getting kind of pointless... So he reckoned that it was time to move on now. Everyone else seemed to have switched anyways. Besides, it's not like standing in front of the mirror for any longer would actually do anything at all. He could really only see his reflection. And all that became clear to him was that he needed to get a hair cut, but that was as close to a vision as he could ever come to.
So, setting the mirror aside, Zander reached for the bowl instead. Looking into it he let out a small sigh. So umm...How was he supposed to see anything in the bowl? It was completely empty and he at least saw his reflection in the mirror.
But this time, he was just staring at the inside of a bowl.
And that was it.
How boring.

The water was definitely not..changing form at all. Eden even got REALLLY squinty and close to it, too, and still..nothing. She ran a hand through her hair. The mirror HAD been easier. COuld she go BACK to mirror--but NO. A part of her WANTED to do this so badly--to be good at this--unlike so many of her other classes--
But she was trying TOO hard now--she needed to relax. So she slumped her shoulders, closed her eyes once more, and took many DEEEEP breaths. In, out...no thinking..just...relaxing. And once she was done with that exercise, she opened her eyes and stared down into the water...swirling images...what--
So the water was clouding up--Eden had to control her excitement and JUST focus on the water--she brought the image of her dad to mind but didn't think TOO hard about it--she was trying SO hard not to mess this up this time--and as the clouds in the water dissipated, Eden could make out his figure--he was in a hotel room, somewhere, doing his work stuff most likely--and Eden smiled because she missed him a lot and seeing him was so NICE and REFRESHING. But as she smiled and blinked--the water was blank once more.
SIGH.
Eden wanted to hold the image so badly--was there a way to DO that?

But the question was-- What? It had been exactly five minutes since he first started staring into the empty bowl, just waiting for something to happen. In the mean time, he had tried his absolute hardest to clear his mind-- which was also really hard to do okay.
But how come nothing had happened yet?!
This was lame.
WAIT A MINUTE! Water. Duh. Heh. He totally knew that.
Zander carefully looked around the room while he took out his wand to make sure that no one saw him slip up. Then, pointing at the empty bowl, he cast a quick "Aguamenti", stopping the water right before it filled up too much.
Okay. Now what?

| Post #6; Mirror urine trouble | Pat's Strong Confident Other Half | Pees Like a Champion Unicorn Racehorse This was exceptionally hard. No matter how many times he tried to focus on the question in his mind, he couldn't see anything in the mirror in the form of an answer. All he could see was his own glaring face staring back at him. Was there something in that corner there? Nope. In that space over there? Nope. Was there an image ANYWHERE?
N. O.
He was getting frustrated.
Taking deep breaths wasn't helping but he tried and he tried to keep his mind on the question itself. Grayson was a determined lad so why this wasn't showing him anything, he didn't know. After a long while, he glanced around at the others, trying to see if THEY had seen anything in their mirrors or water bowls. And if so, what was their secret? Were they simply gifted or something else? And if they WERE gifted, how was it that HE hadn't gotten the gift as well?
Deep breaths and whatnot.
Glancing back at his mirror he tried one last time to stare into its depths and keep the question in the forefront of his mind. The glare was back and in full force, a sense of determination spreading through him. If he DIDN'T see anything, he sure could make things up, which was what looked like the course of action right now. A fruitless attempt? Pretty much.
Could he give up NOW?!
