| | Defense Against the Dark Arts 2 Did the arena seem a little too bright and sunny this particular morning? Perhaps it was due to the windows being wide open as usual, or the freshly shined floors that seemed to sparkle like glittering stars. Whatever the case, the arena was warm and refreshing with a morning breeze passing through every now and then. Professor Romanos was currently absent from the arena at the moment, but the usual purple mats and small desks were situated in their usual rows in the middle of the arena, waiting to be claimed by the students. Come in! Have a seat! And try not to stare at the floor for too long. You may end up with those pesky white spots in your vision for awhile. OOC: Class has begun! Do feel free to RP as if you've been here the whole time. Don't want any loss of points for any latecomers, right? |

Biting the inside of her cheek, she slowly shook her head as the students started to guess, though thank GOSH she held in the snort from Adi's response. "As true is that is, Mister Rehman," she started with a smile and another more prominent shake of her head. "It is a little bit more specific than that. Some of you vere quite close to the correct answer." "The vand movement for this spell is a flick of your vand to the right..." She demonstrated the movement. FLICK! "...and another flick straight downvards." FLICK!Downward! "Quite similar to the number 7 if you notice the pattern, vithout the slant." Did they get that? "The incantation for this spell is Armanto. Do make sure you have the pronunciation down. Ar-MON-toe." The wand movement she was very certain they all could achieve fairly quickly, but the incantation? It may or may not need some work. | doesn't proofread tweets | #wrongaboutcereal | #siriusly? | emo to the extremo Armanto. Not too shabby, not too shabby. Though the wand movement sounded kinda weird. Like a slant to the right. Mhm. Sounded pretty self explanatory really, but you know how these things always end up working. They don't.
But right, Ar-MON-toe. Okay. He could do that. Easy peasy. "Ar-" he began trying to remember the next syllable, "MON-" and ohhh "toe." That wasn't bad at all. "ArMONtoe..... ArMONtoe..... ArMONtoe..... ArMONtoe..." After saying it over and over again... It didn't even sound like a spell anymore. That happened with names too. Like Zander Zander Zander Zander. Nope. Didn't even sound like a thing. See?
But right, incantation. Practicing. That's what he was doing. "Armanto." There.

Norah's forehead wrinkled as she tried to figure out how to spell the incantation. Armanto sounded like armadillo kinda but she didn't really know how to spell that either. A-r-m-o-n-t-o? A-r-m-a-n-t-o-e? With a little shrug, she wrote both versions of it down in her notes and drew a little armadillo next to an illustration of the wand movement. There. Now she wouldn't forget how to pronounce it and it'd all be good, yes? The second year squinted at her drawing. It didn't realllly look like an armadillo--it kinda looked more like a turtle--but she'd remember anyway. And she'd name it Milly, 'cause that was the perfect name for an armadillo, obviously. AHEM, What were they doing again? Right, spells.
Poking around in her bag, Norah pulled out her wand and got to her feet as she muttered the incantation under her breath. "Armanto. Armantoooo. Armanto!" She drew a couple sevens in the air with her wand and then went back to whispering the incantation, bouncing on the tips of her toes all the while. It was gonna be soooo good, uh huh. She could feel it.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jordan Kobe Fifth Year | I Can Accept Failure. But I Can't Accept Not Trying
It came as no surprise to find out that Jordan indeed answered a question wrong. However, Jordan was very proud of himself because very few people answered so he felt that he was really involved and took an interest in that kind of stuff. Even though he got it wrong, his answer actually ended up being really close to the correct answer of a flick of the wand to the right.
Jordan felt like this incantation was quite easy considering you basically just point to the right similar to the slant on the seven he supposed. Almost like an old dance move that people use to do all the time at formal dances. He continued to practice the incantation by trying to say the word right. "Ar-man-to." Upon saying Armanto exactly how it sounded he realized that it was totally wrong and contrasted what the Professor said. "How about... Ar-mon-toe." Yes that sounded better and from what he was hearing from other students, it was the correct form of the incantation.

| ♥s her SS family l Wifey is MINE | Naughty Niffler l Whittysaur l #awkwardturtle<# Ah, so the wand movement was similar to a 7. Seemed pretty easy to Lux, so there wasn't a great chance that she would end up forgetting the spell at any point. She tended to have a good memory with spells due to working hard to practice and memorize things, but the shield spells weren't ones that she really used outside of class. Duelling just wasn't really her thing and there weren't many other places where she felt they were needed.
Fiddling with her wand, Lux was tempted to slash it about but knew it was always best to practice the incantation first and get used to it. "Ar-MON-toe." Not too hard when she said the word slowly and focused on the pronunciation. "Ar-MON-toe... Ar-MON-toe... Ar-MON-toe... Armanto."
Pleased with herself, she drew some 7s in the air in quick succession while making sure to keep the downwards flick totally straight. Easy peasey lemon squeezey. |

Samantha decided to practice the wand movement first. Firstly she flicked her wand to the right and then flicked it straight downwards. It only took her a couple of attempts to master the wand movement.
The incantation was next on Sam's practice list. "Ar-MON-toe, Ar-MON-toe, Ar-MON-toe" she repeated in her mind until she could pronounce it correctly. "Armanto," Sam said under her breath. Simple.

| Shoe!Girl │ Rebel Ravie │ Confundus Queen │ RP Addict That didn’t look anything like the number seven to her, just a corner. Brooklyn almost said something about that, yet she’d remained silent through the class so far so she continued the pattern. If the other students wanted to think that wand movement was a seven, she wouldn’t stop them. It wasn’t her job to, and there were other things the firstie chose to focus on. Namely, the actual spell said wand movement belonged to. “Armanto,” she said clearly. “Ar. Mon. Toe. Armanto, armanto, armanto.” The spell seemed easy enough to pronounce, and after repeating it several more times, she’d flicked her wand in the little corner movement. Like part of a box, but she wasn’t supposed to finish it.
Besides, she was already close enough to the front to see the demonstration. Not that she chose to pay attention t o the front when nothing was happening yet. She didn’t see any shields appearing, anyway. Until then, she was just going to keep alternating between the spell and the wand movement. Practicing.

| dream until your • dreams come true ~ Human pygmy puff Now it was time to work on the Silver Shield spell. Jasmine had her notes up to date and she was ready to go. Deciding to practice the movements first, she took out her wand. Then she did her flick to the right and flick straight down. Yep, it looked like a seven so that would be her reference from now on. Keeping that in mind, Jasmine practiced her "seven" wand movement several more times. It didn't seem too hard to get the hang of it.
Now ready to tackle the incantation, Jasmine took a peek at her notes. "Ar-MON-toe, Ar-MON-toe, Ar-MON-toe, Armanto", she said to herself. After repeating it until she was comfortable with the pronunciation, Jasmine deemed herself ready to try the spell for real. First though, she thought it would be wise to go and watch the Professor's demonstration.

Adi grinned. He knew his answer had to be more specific but he hadn't been sure what he had to specify it with. It had been a bit of a guess, after all. Anywaaaay, moving on! Oh! The wand movement was quite easy. Cool!
Cue the start of practice! A flick to the right followed by a flick straight downwards. Repeat, repeat, repeat. The Hufflepuff did those flick multiple times before he was sure he had gotten it.
Now for the incantation. "Armanto, Armanto, Armanto,'' he said, in the syllables just as Romanos had. "Armanto, Armanto..." |

| urine trouble | Pat's Strong Confident Other Half | Pees Like a Champion Unicorn Racehorse So practicing then.
The spell sounded simple enough and so did the wand movement, if he didn't accidentally flick it in the shape of a number seven itself, slant and all. He DID wonder what would happen if you flicked your wand the wrong way and kinda hoped someone would do it in the class so that his curiosity could be satisfied. He wasn't any good at Transfiguration spells so him trying this out was out of the question. Besides, what if it damaged his face?!
Shrugging, the boy made some last few notes in his Defence notebook -- which was getting kinda long now -- before putting the things down and keeping hold of his wand and his wand only. Practice. Holding his wand up, Grayson flicked it to the right and then flicked it downwards, as if he was drawing a bunch of number sevens in the air without the slant.
When he had practised that a number of times, the Slytherin held his wand down and started chanting the incantation. "Ar-MON-toe...... ar-MON-toe........ ar-MON-toe......... arrrrrr-MOOOOOOON-toeeeeeeeee!" That was about right, wasn't it? "Ar-MON-toe............ ar-MON-toe.......... armonto! Armonto! Armontoooooooo!"

For whatever reason AJ hadn't been paying that close attention. Her thoughts were elsewhere and she needed to focus since they were going to be using wands and incantations now. She blinked a few times and paid attention to the demonstration. Without a doubt she would need to practice the incantation a few times. "Armanto, armanto, ar-mon-toe." Next she picked up her wand and did the figure 7 in the air making sure not to put the slant in her movements. That was simple enough, and she felt that she didn't need to practice that more than a few times.

Angel looked around and saw that people were practicing... when did that happen? She was totally confused anyway... it was time to sort things out and get things done.
"Armanto!" Angel decided she would just practice saying the words. "Armanto!" Angel continued practicing... it seemed she had it down right but she wasn't 100% sure if it was or not, one last try. "Armanto!" Angel beamed yes that was right.
"ar-mon-toe! ar-mon-toe!" Angel wanted to pronounce it right and well if she could get that right it would be amazing because it would mean she was amazing.

| Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna Benny was trying to best to follow along on the discussion of the silver shield charm, the fourth year boy choosing to listen and take notes rather than try to guess on any further stuff. There was certainly enough participation from his classmates to make up for it and they seemed to grasp it just a little better then he was. Soon enough Professor Romanos was wrapping up the talking with the explaination of both the incantation and the correct wand movement.
A flick of the wand to the right...and then straight down.
Simple enough, as long as one made the move straight. The incantation might prove tricky. Armanto. The way the woman was saying it was not quite how Ben thought to at first. So he was perfectly fine with practicing it out. "Armanto..." he tried at first but it didn't sound exactly right, even with the difference in his and Romanos' accent. "Armanto...Ar-MON-toe...ArMONtoe...Armanto"

| elephant-astic•wanderlust•stay in the ninedaaays the original Taco Belle•look at the flowers✿ She was right about the flick! Well, partially right. There was definitely flicking involved. Maddie smirked, wondering if OTHERS had noted this too. Hopefully Romanos HAD.
The second year scribbled down some notes on the movement, incantation, and even drew a little diagram as sometimes she enjoyed the art of visual learning. When that was done, she got out her wand.
Practice made perfect and so Maddie decided the incantation would come first. Ar-MON-toe. Armanto. Sounded like arm on toe to HER. "Armanto. Ar-MON-toe. Ar-MON-toe. Armanto." She felt silly after saying it a few times, like she was talking complete nonsense. She guessed it didn't matter much as long as the spell worked. "Armanto. Armanto. Armanto."

She hadn't seen much point in repeating the wand movement when everyone else was so spot on, hence her silence as she waited for them to move on to bigger and more epic thing. Naturally, they had to start small. Get the younger ones into the groove of things so she didn't let herself feel too restless because she'd contented herself with the promise that they would end up REALLY needing these shields in a moment.
That being the case, she was all too keen to note the wand movement as it was demonstrated and the incantation as well. Practising. Yes. That would need to get done. "Armanto...Ar-MON-toe...Armanto." Nothing that would be ridiculously hard to comprehend. "...Ar-MON-toe...Armanto."
The wand movement wasn't much harder. While muttering the incantation she gave it a try.

Well. She was glad Professor Romanos had cleared that up. A little flick to the right---oh Merlin--or had she said...left? Eden eyed her notes. She had written right but what IF Romanos had said left--Eden scribbled it out, quickly, and bit her lip.
Merlin.
Right. It was right. She siiiighed and wished she could UN-scratch out the scratch..but instead she just...wrote the word 'right' next to the scratch out. Good going, McGee. Picking up her wand, she tried to copy Professor Romanos--doing the flicky motion--and sighed as she caught the incantation. It was...weird. Armanto. ARRRR. Like a pirate. MOONNN like YAAA MON and TOE...like a big fat TOE.
Got it.
Eden cleared her throat. "Aarrrrrrrrmanto!" she said dramatically, putting her wand down while she practiced. She didn't need to..eh, mess anything up. AHEM. "Ar-mon-toe---" she said, and again and again until she felt better about the weird word. She didn't know why she found THIS word so weird. Hmm. Now for the wand motion--but THAT was fairly easy.

A flick to the right and another flick straight downwards. Like a number seven without the slant. Right. He could do that. Totally. Not too complicated.
Toby tried that first, drilling the wand movement over and over. Flick to the right, flick straight down, okAY.
Though it was a relatively simple motion, Toby kept on repeating it, getting so into the practice that he almost forgot where he was. The more he did it the faster it got, so eventually it was more like he was drawing a triangle in the air than anything. Eventually he snapped out of whatever weird trance he was in, though, and blinked around at everyone. Oops. Little bit carried away there.
He tried again, sensibly this time - flick to the right, flick downwards - and after a few goes moved onto the incantation. "Armanto... Arrrrrmanto... Ar-MON-toe." YEAH, that was it. "Ar-MON-toe... Ar-MON-toe... Armanto."

Zhenya watched Professor Romanos demonstrate the spell and she pulled her own wand up to practice the wand movement. Flick to the right and straight down. Flick to the right and straight down. Flick to the riiiiiiiiiight…. and straight down.
Right. That should do it.
The incantation… Armanto. She had never heard anyone using the spell before. Ar-MON-toe. Ar-MON-toe. The Russian practiced the incantation until she felt comfortable with it.
"Ar-MON-toe. Ar-MON-toe. Ar-MON-toe," she said, repeating it many times, then stopping the incantation to practice the wand movement again.

Yep, that was easy enough to remember. The incantation was just another to add to the list of ones he'd have to remember. Honestly, HOW did wizards remember all of these spells? There were SOOOOOO many. And to think, he was only in his first year still. Meep.
Ar-MON-toe. Armanto. Righto... three syllables wasn't so bad. "Ar-mon-toe," he practiced, his wand lifeless by his side. "Armontoe.".... "Armanto."
