Arriving at the barnyard, you weren't surprised to see the usual signs directing you on which way to go. The signs direct you onto a path leading past the treehouse and other notable areas on the Grounds into a wall of thick hedges. Venturing through the hedges throughout the many trees you find a clearing decorated with park benches surrounded by thick bushes. Occasionally you hear soft giggling and buzzing noises in the far background. Sitting on one of the tables is Professor Thompson waiting on you. Better get comfortable while you still can.

This would be her LAST attempt and she was sure of that. There was no way that she was going to be chasing around after anymore fairies if all they did was flit away in a teasing manner (or scared depending on which view you were taking.) The Ravenclaw didn’t want to waste her efforts on doing something she was one hundred percent certain she would never have to do in her life ever again.
She had absolutely no interest in magical creatures whatsoever after all..
With the jar poised in one hand and her wand outstretched in the other, Layla kept her eyes firmly fixated on the fairy that had previously given her the slip. The little blighter wasn’t getting away with it again THIS time. No way.
“Immobulus!” she shouted as she pointed her wand towards the fairy and watched as it froze. She didn’t feel any remorse for her actions but then again neither did anyone else really. The professor HAD said they could get the fairies by any means as long as they didn’t harm them right? And THIS wasn’t classified as harming them.
Her eyes were now trained on the other fairy flitting about in the jar. She gave it a warning look before quickly unscrewing the cap and slipping it over the fairy to trap it within. The lid was tightly screwed on as she lifted the jar up to count the contents. TWO fairies. The number of fairies that was required for the task. The Ravenclaw grinned at them before placing them down.
Time to get more fairies. He narrowly missed getting one but it was poor aim due on his part. He went back to the class and saw many fairies were there now. He smiled and had his wand at the ready. He pointed towards it at one fairy and said, "IMMOBULUS!" and then the fair was stunned. He noticed the fairy in his jar was stirring and was gonna wake up. He was gonna have to do that fast.
He opened his jar quickly and got his fairy into the jar and with a snap he was done! He did it! He got two fairies. He completed the assignment. He smiled and went back with the others.
Toting her captured fairy with her, Norah weaved through the other students in search of a little space. Taking a moment to observe her surroundings, she noticed a lone fairy lurking on the edge of the clearing. It looked like it needed a friend. The second year tiptoed in the fairy's direction and whispered "Immobulus." She took the frozen fairy and unscrewed her jar to put it in with Rosie when in a blur of glow-y wings Rosie escaped from the jar. NOOO! "ROSIIIEEE!" she cried, trying to locate the fairy again. Siiiigh. She placed the new fairy into her now empty jar and inspected it through the glass. It was pretty, but not Rosie. Norah stared at the other fairies in search of a worthy replacement. You'd better stay in there, little fairy. Mhmmm.
Although Kevin wasn’t much of a partnering up type, he would still rather team up with another Gryffindor than a Wannabe-Gryffindor you know. He grinned at Eden because he had seen her look when he went over to Angel and then turned his focus on her again. “We’re catching fairies” he said as if talking to a child who hadn’t seen the obvious right in front of them yet. He also used his finger to circle it around and pointing to them. “One has to stun them while the other catches them in the jar” easy right?
He looked around and saw a fairy flying right over his head. He drew his wand, pointed at it and shouted “Immobulus!" It hit right on target, something that even surprised him for a second but then it didn’t because he was just THAT awesome. “Angel! Catch it!” he commanded said.
His voice was cut off in midsentence as he felt a pain against his chest and it wasn’t until he stumbled , tripped over his own shoes and fell on the ground that he realised that it was someone who had caused the pain. He groaned as he rubbed his back and then his eyes NARROWED at Eden. “YOU!” He shouted and without warning he pointed his wand at her because she had done that ON PURPOSE he just KNEW IT!
“EBUBLIO!” he shouted , watching purple light flash towards the Wannabe-Gryffindor. It was the first jinx that came up in to his mind.
Eden was down. EDEN DOWN. She was in pain because--ouch, ankle--and she had dropped her jar---ON A FAIRY?!?!? WOOOOOOW. That had been a complete and total ACCIDENT. She quickly capped the jaw and smirked into it...waving at the little thing--
Oops.
She had managed to hurt Kevin, too--"I'm so------"
O_________O
Eden was trapped. In a bubble. With her jar, at least, and the fairy. She jabbed her wand into the lining of the bubble and was SHOCKED when it just bounced back at her. WHAT THE HECK. SHe stood--abruptly--still ENTOMBED in this BUBBLE and GLAAAAAARED at Kevin. "GET ME OUT OF THIS BUBBLE RIGHT NOW!" she cried, stomping her foot impatiently at him, her eyes glancing at the professor. While she didn't WANT to be trapped in here, she also didn't want the professor to see the commotion BECAUSE she didn't want to cause a scene, okay? She just needed to get out of this BUBBBBBLE HAAAAAALP!

Ian had been watching the others catch, or try to catch the fairies. It was mesmerizing. The fairies were giggling, kids with jars and gloves and wands were doing their level best to gather them. It was awesome. Ian was really enjoying watching, but he knew that he needed to try. He removed the jar lid and looked around for the closest, slowest fairy. It was likely that all the slow ones had been captured. Ian watched as one was warily watching another student. He did his best to sneak up on the fairy. He brought the jar up then placed the lid above the head of the fairy. In as quick a motion as he could, Ian tried to capture the flighty creature. Unfortunately, he was unsuccessful as the fairy shifted to the side, flew up and flicked him on the forehead before skitting off. Ian looked after it with frustration, wondering if there were any slow ones.

This one, a freezing charm.
"Immobulus!" pause. "Catch!" C'mon Quick Draw, show us your skills.
He was watching and waiting, jar at the ready once she decided on a fairy. And also keeping an eye out in case any other fairies got the idea to bother him. They SHOULDN'T but you never know with creatures sometimes.
And then she'd frozen a couple - nice! - and David jumped up, bringing the lid over the fairy and the jar under it until it was inside. Then he moved to do the same with the other one - and the jar ALMOST slipped out of his hands for a moment as he was trying to situate it so the next one would slip in easily, and the frozen fairy already inside nearly fell out, BUT he steadied it with both hands at the last minute because he was totally smooth and awesome so it was all good. He slipped the jar over the other one and closed the lid over the opening. Two fairies. Perfect.
"Nice spellwork there, partner." He grinned.
So they were done with the activity now? Not too bad overall then.

It took a fairy zooming past her to snap Beauty out of her reverie. Blinking she glanced all around her. Fairy catching, right!
Spotting a cluster of them nearby, she ran to them, the hand that held the jar outstretched. She was going to try to catch them this way for the fun of it. Once she reached the fairies they dispersed, some zooming past her. A delighted giggle burst from her as she tried to catch one.
None. They were all gone, but that had been fun.
Biting her bottom lip and gazing around with bright, cheery eyes, Beauty stood still. Extremely still. Now she'd test what the professor had suggest by holding the lid above the jar, that way if a fairy flew in she wouldn't have a lot of space to cover.

Amongst his staring at the fairy, the time ticked down and the fairies that were immobilised before we're now flying around freely. Swear to Merlin, how had people done this before?! Because some had managed to capture quite a few and Thompson had made it look dead simple back when he was giving the instructions. So what was the problem? Was it his hate for the creatures or what? Could they sense it? Was THIS the reason why they were acting like this?
Ugh. UGH.
One thing he knew for certain was that he was definitely using his wand for this next one. It had been FAR more useful than just using his hands. And he was gonna try not to leave the lid of the jar open too long in case the other fairy decided to fly out. He glanced down at the one in his jar, which jumped up and started fluttering around, seemingly happy with the attention it was getting. Yeah. Show offs. The lot of them.
Tearing his eyes away from the fairy in his jar, Grayson raised his wand and aimed it at the fairy that was trying to dart as far away as possible. "IMMOBULUS!"
Andddddddd FROZEN.
Reaching over, he grabbed it out of the air and held onto it tightly. Was it going to try and get away? Not likely. GOOD. Opening the jar, he stuffed the fairy inside and shut the jar as quickly as he could. This time, he shut it properly, screwing the cap of it just to make sure. Fairies could be SMART and could try and find a way to escape from thir current confinement. He wouldn't be surprised.
And did he have to catch any more? Grayson really didn't want to.

Ian walked around some more hoping to catch a slow, or at least distracted one. He tried to do his best sneaky, sneak walk. He walked on his toes, slow and steady. He remembered a cartoon he used to watch at home. He placed his finger to his lips and said to no one in particular, shhhhhhh.....be vewy, vewy qwiet....I'm hunting faiwies....huhuhuhuhu
He looked into the bushes and gave strong consideration to shaking bushes to make them come out.
Unlike the voice in her head, Beauty was a patient person when it came to getting what she wanted. Obviously she wanted to do things right and get them right, so she waited for a fairy to fly into her jar.
A lot of them passed right in front of her face, but they were testing frozen state, she knew it. Little by little, more fairies came by, some gazing at her curiously, but not close enough to the jar. At one point she was tempted to reach out and catch a fairy, but those creatures were quite fast, she wasn't sure she'd be fast enough, so she waited.
And waited.
Beauty almost broke her composure when a fairy landed its tiny bum on the rim of the jar. It so tiny and...SHE HAD IT. Bringing the lid down she gave the creature a gentle shove into the jar and closed the lid on it.

And. What? Don't move? Why? How come?
AND WHY WAS ZANDER POINTING HIS WAND AT HIM?! Ethan can't help but duck away from the commotion, because Zander was literally casting the stunning spell left and right! The Slytherin carefully stood up and saw that he was able to stun one, and he immediately stuffed the fairy in his jar. "Merlin's broken hip. You need some serious target practice, my friend." Ethan said jokingly as he patted Zander's back. "We need two more, yes?"
The prefect looked around and saw that a plethora of fairies were flying above their heads and away from reach. "Look. Up there." he said gesturing his head towards another unsuspecting fairy. The creature was just hovering in place, and Ethan pointed his wand at it as an 'experiment' formed inside his head. "Let's see how good you are with catching fairies." he said to Zander. "Accio Fairy!" Ethan must have hit it squarely because it was now darting towards him.
Now...where is Zander's open jar?
The Gryffindor turned a bit pink at the comment. It wasn't his fault! His aim wasn't that miserable... Just the fairy was moving really fast and it wasn't that easy to get it on the first go. Not completely his fault okay, at least he tried right? But he knew that Ethan was only teasing him, so he didn't say anything about it. Just went along with it instead. Two more? Yeah, he responded with a nod.
Look up where? Zander followed Ethan's finger up to the cloud of fairies up above. OH merlin. Why was Ethan pointing his wand at them? What was the Slythering gonna do??? AHHHHHH ETHAN ACCIO!?!?
With his eyes widened in shock, Zander ran towards the oncoming fairy, jar opened. Except in attempt to catch the oncoming fairy, he completely forgot about the fairy that was already in his jar. .... But if it counts for anything, he caught the second one? "OH NO!!!" He even chased it after it flew away but it was no use. Sigh. GAAAAAAAAAH. Except the accio thing kind of worked? So giving up on his first fairy that had already made a grand escape. He looked at Ethan disappointedly, "Oops."
But hey, he could get Ethan his last one and then go after the first fairy again? "This one's for you," Pointing his wand at the fairy cloud flying by, "ACCIO FAIRY!!" And here it came....

Eden was still in a bubble. No, like, not a PERSONAL bubble. She was actually IN a bubble because of DUMB STUPID KEVIN KENGJI DUDE. She wouldn't be able to catch ANY fairies in here--and she was knocking into people, too, and she did her best to knock into Kevin...mostly.
"IMMOBULUS!" she cried, whenever she DID see a fairy--but her spell wasn't WORKING because BUBBLE. Ugh. MAybe she would need the professor. She didn't know the counter spell at ALL okay? She held up her jar and peered at her one, accidentally-caught, fairy, and sighed. Maybe she was lousy at creatures, too. And maybe she wouldn't...go into this stuff in Uni. She had actually thought for Uni, too, for a little while...but right now...ugh.
She couldn't even catch a fairy...or get out of this bubble to do so...

Zander needs some serious Detective Training. The one he just immobilised flew away but then it was quickly replaced by another one. Goodness. And here he thought it was gong to be an easy task. But then again, this was a challenge he's willing to finish.
And things went by so fast, did he know?
One moment, the Gryffindor was panicking, the next thing he knew another fairy was hurtling towards them. "Immobulus!" Ethan cried out as he pointed his wand at the fairy inside his jar, then quickly took the lid off to catch the incoming one.
BONK.
The fairy had hit him square in the face. Maybe catching stuff isn't his thing. "Quickly, Lestrade! After that fairy!" Eeep! They don't have time!

Catching fairies sounded like a lot cuter of a task than it actually was, Soph realized this right away. When they were given the go-ahead and the others were running around using various methods to capture them, she realized it all looked a little silly and... probably a bit frightening, if you were a fairy.
Sophie wasn't one of the fairies, though, so she wasn't frightened.
After observing everyone else's tactics for awhile, she decided she would FIRST try it without magic, just to see if that was as hard as the others were making it seem like it was. She was no fairy whisperer, like Tobes over there, and she had no real desire to try to befriend the fairies, so the kind and gentle approach probably wouldn't work out for her so much.
Instead, she targeted a low-flying fairy who didn't seem to have a care in the world, despite all the students present. It was flying fairly quickly, though, and Soph trailed after it, her footsteps quick and quiet. She made a sudden lunge, the jar in her hand swiping at the fairy and trying to capture it in the jar - aaand caught nothing. The little fairy darted away from her with much faster speed than she anticipated and was already out of sight.
So maybe the non-magic way was as hard as it seemed to be.
From experience, Beauty knew her friends would come and help would she ever need it. Of course, Beast would be the first one. But he was more than a friend. Moving along, and going off of that she devised a quick plan. First she took a few factors in consideration. She needed to be fast, super quick and so that when she caught the second fairy the first one wouldn't sneak out. Speed and a sprinkle of hope her plan would work.
Standing as still as a birdbath, she slid the jar lid just slightly open. It wasn't enough for the fairy to escape, but enough for her plan to work.
It took some time, but it happened. While the fairy she caught fluttered inside the jar another one arrived and reached its tiny arm inside, as if it was strong enough to help its little out.
It was the most tender thing ever, Beauty almost let the first fairy out. But this was an assignment.
Watching as the outside fairy reached both arms inside, Beauty carefully moved her fingers around the jar and pushed miniature bum forward while opening and closing the jar lid quickly.
Oops, seemed like she offended the fairy. "Sorry, dearest, but I need you."
how would she distract them? That was a very good question.
Biting her lip, Lux looked around to see if inspiration would strike. They were in the bushes, so there were a lot of leaves and branches. Spotting two branches on the ground, Lux picked one up in each hand. They were to be her fairy wings, so she started to flap them along like wings.
...Well, BIRD wings, but now wasn't the time to be picky.
And how did fairies communicate again? Oh, right. Buzzing! "Buzzzzzz buzzzzz buzzzzz buzzzz."
Puck couldn’t help but laugh at Lux…she was being too adorable if that was even a thing. Or she was just, insane? A cute insane that you wanted to have in your life. Taking her wand in hand she waited for some fairies to go near Lux’s twig wings…yes, it was working…sort of. They were sitting on the ‘wings’ like they were a bench…it looked as if they thought it was an amusing thing.
”IMMOBULUS” she cast at the little fairies and they froze sitting on the wing. Reaching over she carefully collected one of the bunch and placed it into the jar before closing the lid once more. ”got one” she indicated, ”there is another for you sitting on your wing.” Puck grinned.

What else was working for the other kids, hm? Besides the sly moves exhibited by Tobes? She squinted around at everyone - Immobulus seemed to be popular, and... well, that seemed to be it. Except Zander was trying to summon one, which... looked like it might work? Hm.
Well, Immobulus was the crowd favorite, so Sophie decided upon trying that out and stalked the nearest fairy as her next prey. She followed it closely, noticing how it noticed her and gained speed - so she backed off. Maybe she shouldn't chase them - maybe she should just point and shoot the spell?
That... could potentially be disastrous, she knew. But it was worth a shot, wasn't it?
Creeping along the hedge, Soph eventually stopped and waited patiently for a fairy to fly by that she could single out. After what felt like waiting for a whole minute - Merlin forbid she be patient - one flew right where she'd wanted it and she pointed her wand at it, aiming quickly, "Immobulus!"
...It actually worked? Ha! Soph was beyond pleased and it showed wonderfully on every inch of her face as she plucked the frozen fairy from the air, gently let it into her jar, and cast, "Finite," to unfreeze it before putting the lid on the jar.

No, Zander. Now is not the time. Fairy, right. Yes. Fairy. On it!! The Gryffindor broke into a fast run and followed Ethan, right before sticking his wand out and crying "IMMOBULUS!" Right as he did so, another fairy crossed the spells path and so there wasn't just one frozen fairy, BUT TWO WHOLE FROZEN FAIRIES ONE FOR HIM AND ONE FOR ETHAN! How's that for an aim? "Wicked!!" Then, taking the idea from Ethan, he immobilized the fairy in his jar already, so that he didn't have a repeat of the last time. Heh. And then ran towards the two fairies and captured one. There! FINALLY.

Relieved to have at least the one fairy in her jar, Sophie walked a little slower now, not wanting to shake up the jar in her hands too much and startle or harm the little thing. It already felt more difficult to seek out another one to catch because she would have to make sure it got in the jar WITHOUT letting the other one out. Maybe... she should've left her first one immobilized until she had both in there. Maybe. Probably. It... would've been a good idea.
Ah, well.
She tucked the jar close to her with one arm, the other holding her wand out, already aiming for her next target - fairy here, a student chasing down a fairy there, two fairies sticking together... awwww. Were they a couple? Was that even a thing? Soph grinned, slowly walking after the two fairies who seemed to be banding together to evade capture.
But Soph wanted them. Both of them. So she could have THREE. Or... maybe she'd let the one go that she'd already caught and keep the cute fairy couple together. Yeah, that's what she'd do. Polite of her and all.
"Immobulus!" she shot at the two fairies without warning, but they must have KNOWN she was trailing them for they both in sync shot upward to narrowly miss behind hit by her spell. She could have shot the spell at them again, but she figured... well... perhaps their togetherness and safety were more important than her catching them right now. Tobes would probably think she was pretty cool for letting them be, too, so... added bonus. Probably.
"Whaaaaaaaaaat.....," Zahra laughed, OBVIOUSLY CAUGHT. "I mean... I wasn't gonna EAT one. Well not on purpose. I just thought it'd be cool to catch one with NO HANDS." Zahra did JAZZ hands in Toby's face.
But hey hey a chocolate frog break? Okay! Zahra pulled up Toby's back, sat beside him and their jar of fairies and rummaged for this SNACK he spoke of.
Toby couldn't help but laugh. Zahra was an absolute nutter, it was true. But what would Hogwarts be like without her? Super boring, probably.
He held onto both jars while Z rooted around in his bag, silently wishing her luck as he had a tendency to carry all textbooks with him at all times (thanks to his poor memory). Meanwhile, he was now checking out the fairies in both jars.
"Stick a frog in my mouth when you find 'em, Z," Toby instructed the GryfFRIENDor, now looking up to watch the commotion in the lesson. He opened his mouth, too, READY.

Ethan didn't have time to brandish his wand again to aim, but he was thankful that Zander was able to freeze two. Was it because he wasn't aiming at all? No time to analyze that stuff now, because TWO FREAKING FAIRIES!
Oh yeeeeah!
Ethan unscrewed his jar and stored the second fairy inside it. There. Two fairies just like what the professor wanted.
Ethan beamed at Zander and raised his hand for a high-five. "Good work, Lestrade." Mhhm. He's officially part of the gang now.

For the first time, Sophie realized just who Toby was over there hanging out with: Zahra Kettleburn. She stared momentarily, all sorts of conflicting feelings hitting her at once, and she pointedly looked at Thompson. Did HE see that?
The green monster of jealousy had struck.
She tore her gaze away from them and gripped her wand a little tighter, her jaw clenched and the determination to catch ALL the fairies settling in. Forcing herself to be completely focused on the task at hand, she positioned herself in a strategic spot where lots of fairies were passing by. She waited, finding it easier to be patient now, waiting for the right fairy to come passing by - there.
"Immobulus!" she cast at the fairy with almost a little bit of ferociousness in her voice, and was unsurprised when it froze on the spot.
Heh.
She took the lid off the jar, immediately recast the spell on the little fairy already in her jar so it would stay put, and delicately placed the newly-frozen fairy in the jar to join the other. "Finite," she cast on both of them so they could roam free inside and topped the jar with the lid triumphantly. And she may have peeked at Tobes and Zahra again curiously. Was she... eating his food?

It was so hard not to laugh along with Puck, but somehow Lux managed to keep in character as she BUZZZZZZED away for the little fairies. It was working, because some of them had flown over to investigate, laughing at her antics.
Puck acted fast, and soon had them frozen in place. Knowing that the effects wouldn't last long, Lux quickly grabbed her jar and placed a fairy gently inside before closing the lid. No need to hurt the little things and hopefully the ones who hadn't been captured wouldn't attack. "We're all done, and we didn't scare any fairies!" They did a good job.

"Stick a frog in my mouth when you find 'em, Z," Toby instructed the GryfFRIENDor, now looking up to watch the commotion in the lesson. He opened his mouth, too, READY.
................ Why was Eden in a bubble?
Zahra had half a wiggling frog in her mouth, it's legs still JUMPING. She tore one off viciously and dangled in it front of Tobe'z MOUTH. YUM YUM. Fairy catching food!
"Think the fairies want a bite? Bet they've never HAD a chocolate frog.......," and for the first time, Z noted Sophie. "..... before." Zahra knew better than to hang with Toby when Sophie was around. It didn't take a genius to know better. Zahra just simply hadn't seen the Ravenclaw before in class.
"...I'll go try to catch another in my mouth. Thanks for the snack! Maybe it'll attract a fairy to my mouth." And with that, as much as Zahra wanted to stay and watch Toby be ridiculous with his new BFFs, she flittered away from her Hufflepuff friend and waaaaaaaaay away from his Ravenclaw girlfriend.
She paused to watch another Ravenclaw run around in a bubble. Now THAT You didn't see everyday, not even at Hogwarts.

Oblivious. Totally oblivious. Between Eden in her bubble and the fairies in the jars he held and floating all around, Toby was totally preoccupied and didn't notice any sorts of looks he might have been receiving. He looked up, however, when the chocolate frog was dangled in his mouth, and chomped it out of the air without giving it a second though.
And... Z was going?
"O'ay," the Hufflepuff nodded, going to wave goodbye but remembering the jars in his hands at the last second and waggling his elbow instead. That was as good as waving. "'Ood 'uck!" Or maybe not.
He'd stay here and continue the fairy bonding. There was a whole TON by him now. Too many to get in the jar; it was a real party.
