Arriving at the barnyard, you weren't surprised to see the usual signs directing you on which way to go. The signs direct you onto a path leading past the treehouse and other notable areas on the Grounds into a wall of thick hedges. Venturing through the hedges throughout the many trees you find a clearing decorated with park benches surrounded by thick bushes. Occasionally you hear soft giggling and buzzing noises in the far background. Sitting on one of the tables is Professor Thompson waiting on you. Better get comfortable while you still can.

At the sound of his name, Zander turned around quickly and... Want this one? A fairy!! Awesome! Thanks, Ethan! Oh look! Another cloud of fairies. Brooklyn almost smiled at that, but she was watching them too closely to allow herself the distraction of success. She hadn’t caught any of them yet, after all. Plus, she’d noticed Ethan over there actually stunning one that looked awfully familiar. He should probably thank her, except she wasn’t going to take the time to say anything. She was too busy stalking the small cloud of fairies hovering near another bush, completely focused on her goal. A few of them had turned to look at her, but luckily they’d seemed distracted by her hair (again) to notice her raising her wand. “Immobulus!,” she cast a second time, finally grinning as probably half a dozen fairies suddenly froze practically two feet in front of her. At her level this time. She wouldn’t even have to jump.
Opening the jar a crack, she whispered to the fairy inside. “Ready for some roommates?” After a whispered Immobulus to make sure the trapped fairy didn’t try to escape, she took the lid off her jar and scooped up maybe three of the fairies she’d just stunned, then put the lid back on the jar quickly. She remembered the last time. Her spell probably was only going to last a few seconds longer if she was lucky, but she was hoping the other fairies hadn’t noticed her trapping the others. Otherwise she was going to have to get physical again. She wasn’t about to let fairies irrationally attack her, no matter how small she was. She wasn’t afraid of them. In fact, she just left them stunned, returning to the break in the bushes to wait for the lesson to continue. Or finish, whatever was going to happen. She had four fairies so that ought to be enough.

how would she distract them? That was a very good question.
Biting her lip, Lux looked around to see if inspiration would strike. They were in the bushes, so there were a lot of leaves and branches. Spotting two branches on the ground, Lux picked one up in each hand. They were to be her fairy wings, so she started to flap them along like wings.
...Well, BIRD wings, but now wasn't the time to be picky.
And how did fairies communicate again? Oh, right. Buzzing! "Buzzzzzz buzzzzz buzzzzz buzzzz."

See? Cool dude. Zander IS Lestrade, so he better live up to that name, yes? Hehehe. Ethan watched as the Gryffindor brandished his jar and captured the unsuspecting fairy into his container. One down, for the Lion, two more for him. "Yeah, don't mention it." As long as he returns the favor, no? That'll be awesome.
And. What? Don't move? Why? How come?
AND WHY WAS ZANDER POINTING HIS WAND AT HIM?! Ethan can't help but duck away from the commotion, because Zander was literally casting the stunning spell left and right! The Slytherin carefully stood up and saw that he was able to stun one, and he immediately stuffed the fairy in his jar. "Merlin's broken hip. You need some serious target practice, my friend." Ethan said jokingly as he patted Zander's back. "We need two more, yes?"
The prefect looked around and saw that a plethora of fairies were flying above their heads and away from reach. "Look. Up there." he said gesturing his head towards another unsuspecting fairy. The creature was just hovering in place, and Ethan pointed his wand at it as an 'experiment' formed inside his head. "Let's see how good you are with catching fairies." he said to Zander. "Accio Fairy!" Ethan must have hit it squarely because it was now darting towards him.
Now...where is Zander's open jar?

Angel was totally and utterly confused what was she supposed to do now... something about fairies and doing something to them. Wait she didn't have to harm them did she because well they were so cute and she didn't want to hurt them.
Angel looked around for her sister maybe she would want to partner with her but she wasn't sure if she had a partner or not already, why couldn't they go back to Primary School? The triplets had done everything together and now she was totally and utterly lost as to what she could do or who she could partner.
It was a grand opportunity working with Cutty. She had the fullest confidence in his intelligence level and he doubled as something she needed in particular so while her eyes followed the fairies zipping about, her train of thought followed the usefulness of the Snake. "I've been robbed Cutty." She said frankly, watching the jar shatter as it hit the log. "My entire candy, gone while I was supposedly this Maleficent person or another. I need new supplies." Just a heads up. They couldn't get much business talk done in class but he needed to know that his pockets were going to be lined with galleons soon if no one found her bag.
As for scaring versus coercion...she'd opt for the latter. "Hmmmm....they aren't know for their intelligence but rather, their vanity. We'll make 'em wanna come to us." And with that decided, she reached into her pocket and fished out a small hand mirror she usually had for peering around corners when she'd left her kneazle up in her dorm. Lex had the sun's light reflect off it and onto the fairies drawing their attention and the moment they began their approach, she went perfectly still.
Naturally she expected Cutty to catch on as the little things fought to see their reflection in the mirror. It was a fairy frenzy. He need only immobilize or DIVE (if that was more his thing) for them before they had their fill of themselves.
A bigger mirror would help but someone had made off with her wand so this would have to do.
Alexa Cambridge was out of candy. Breathe Cutty. Alexa Cambrigde was out of candy. BREEEATHE.
"We'll fix it, Lex. We'll fix it." Were Cutty's calm words of comfort after she'd explained her dilemma of having her alter-ego take over for...what was it? Like a week and a half or so. He'd write to his supplier that afternoon. He'd have to tell his mother that he'd joined Professor Morgan's cult anyway.
The subject of Lex's girlishness was something Cutty had to consciously remind himself of. The Headgirl was not a man. Case in point, she'd just produced a mirror from her person. Wandlessly he might add. She just had it on her and she knew how to work it, pulling in the light from the sun and flashing it toward the tiny winged creatures.
As they approached, preened and competed for a spot at the small surface of Lex's mirror he noticed the Headgirl becoming very still and began taking minute steps backward. His wand was clutched in his hand, braced by his forefinger and lifted so that if looking directly at him it nearly evenly split his face into two sections. Step after step he took until he was at a fair distance away from Lex and the fairies. He planned to stun them from an unnoticeable distance. And not hit Lex.
"Immobulus!" He sent the first cast after the one elbowing two others who seemed to be taking up HER spot at the mirror. "Immobulus! Immobulus! Immobulus!" Their positions made them practically fish in a barrel.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

Eventhough that technique of ripping off the wings of the fairies wasn't going to be a benefit for them now, Kevin begged to differ that they were handy in lets say...a Girding Potion? hmm hmm. Still, he was HIGHLY dissapointed they weren't going to rip them off.
Walking further in the the area, Kevin looked at the professor as he caught a fairy in his hands like it was childs play. "Show off" he mumbled with a roll of his eyes and grabbed his wand when everyone else did. Good they could use magic.
He turned his attention to his target, aka Eden and grinned. "It was just a question, besides i don't even HAVE wings'" DUH. Now he got why she didn't feel at home in Ravenclaw, she was so dumb.
As the others partnered up, Kevin saw Angel looking very confused. He walked up to her and tapped on her shoulder. "Yo, wanna partner up?" he asked. Actually, he was just gonna use her as a diversion to jinx Eden hehehe.

Hady had been so distracted by the giggling as she entered the area with all the fairies she almost didn't hear the Professor. My gosh this was an amazing sight. If only Jaxon could see this!
Pay attention Hady the Professor is speaking she scolded herself with a shake of her head. So she needed to capture two fairies in her jar without injuring them. That shouldn't be all that hard now.
Or maybe she was wrong. Fairies were everywhere and everyone was shooting spells at them and running around. It was craziness!
Slowly making her way deeper into the area she noticed Brooklyn whom seemed to be doing really well on her own. The girl already had like four fairies in her jar!

"I hope you don't mind my capturing one of yours Brooklyn." She asked friend as she past by her. She didn't think would at all but it was always nice to ask.

Alright, play time was over. Time to give up on the no magic idea. Jasmine had to catch this fairy now. It was starting to get on her nerves. Yes fairies we're beautiful and peaceful........yes they were. Of course she would never harm one, but this critter was getting "jarred"
Jasmine followed said fairy, but this time she had her wand. It flitted around, but Jasmine was on it. When she got close enough, she raised her wand. Patience was most important in achieving your goal and Jasmine was patient. Finally when the time was right, she said, "Immobulus" Frozen. Got it!
Jasmine smiled as the fairy was suspended in mid air. Things were so much easier with magic. Moving closer to the fairy, she took her jar and scooped it up. Then she quickly placed the top onto the jar. There was no time to waste. She had to find this fairy a buddy. Wouldn't want it to be lonely now would we?

One down and one more to go. Yeah she might not have gotten the first one one her own but she did have one. Looking into the jar she watched as the tiny little fairy flew around inside. It didn't exactly appear to be all that happy with being inside a jar. Then again would anyone really want to be inside a jar? Nope. Probably not. She knew for sure she'd never want to be stuck in a jar especially not all alone like her little fairy was right now.
What she needed now was to capture one more and give her lonely fairy a friend. On her own possibly if she could. Checking the area out around her Hady noticed a small group of fairies hovering around a bush not to far from where she was already stood. Slowly she crept her way towards them hoping if she was quiet enough she'd be able to sneak up on at least one of them.

They were going to hunt some fairies? This sounded like a super awesome time. AJ had her gloves on and her jar ready. She didn't really feel like working in partners for this activity. No sense in having somebody slow you down. the giggling and odd noises were all making sense now.
Where were the fairies? As she walked further in she noticed some fluttering by. Why no try this the old fashioned way? AJ had caught some bugs in a jar way before she knew that she was a witch. This shouldn't be that hard.
She let one float around for a bit, and when it seemed to be distracted by another fairy, the lion charged. She had the lid off of the jar, and raised just slightly above it so she could close it at a moment's notice. The fairy zigged when AJ zagged. Ugh. No luck this time, but she wasn't going to give up.

Closer. Closer.
Hadleigh continued to inch ever closer one tiny step at a time. She didn't want to frighten them before she even got close enough you know. Just when she was within arms reach of the group of four fairies she lifted her jar and quickly attempted to capture the closest one to her. Just as she came into close contact with it, itsuddenly sprung into action and darted away! Darn. She had almost had it!
Letting out a small sigh she hurried to put the lid back on her jar so the fairy she did have couldn't get away. That would seriously be a bad thing to happen right now. It was alright though she'd get this last one she needed. Turning around slowly in a circle Hady inspected the surrounding area for more fairies.
Most seemed to have hidden in the bushes now or up in trees. Several seemed as if they were mocking her though with their giggles. Flying just a foot or two above her reach.

One down, one to go. Jasmine held onto her jar and scanned the area for her next fairy. Spotting one, she started to follow it. Moving slowly, Jasmine tried not to attract its attention. She waited for what she thought was the right moment and raised her wand. "Immobulus". Unfortunately, this fairy might prove to be a harder catch than the previous one.
Jasmine started the process all over again. Stalk. Wait. Aim. Shoot. Miss. Third time would have to be the charm, right? She found the fairy once more and followed it, waiting patiently for the right opportunity. Finally, she took her shot. "Immobulus" This time Jasmine's spell hit the tiny fairy and it was indeed frozen. Just to make sure her number one fairy didn't escape, she repeated the spell for it. When that was done, she opened the jar and caught the second fairy. Jasmine had met her fairy quota for the day and closed the jar, successful at last. Pointing her wand at the two fairies, she said, "Finite". The spell was lifted and the two fairies flitted around in her jar. Could she go for three?

Zahra had been trying very, very hard to catch a fairy in her mouth. So far, no luck. What she needed was to be TALLER. Like a giant, but still... if she could just sneak up on one....
She got distracted by Toby with his face to a jar. "...are you trying to bond with that fairy, Tobz? It's gonna BITE YOUR NOSE! You better get your nose out or the puffskein's won't have any BOGEY PROTEIN LEFT to eat!"
Anyway.
Zahra already had like three fairies. She'd been running around like a wild banshee, CATCHING ALL THE FAIRIES, as you do. .... back to trying to stalk one with her mouth. Zahra RAN through the hedges, LEAPT into the air with her mouth open wide...
Otter This World ♡ Catpurrccino ♡ Slotherin ♡ Pandamonium
Maybe she'd have better luck if she tried the spell she heard everyone else around her using? She knew what it was already and Hady was quite confident that she could accomplish it but maybe she'd give it ago after she tried to capture a fairy without it once more.
If she remained calm, patient and silent she knew she could do it. There was a smaller fairy hovering just several feet above her head giggling. She could hear it and see it's movements as it would dip down lower to just above her head and then fly back up again.
Once. Twice. Three times now this fairy did this. Clearly it was teasing her. A small smirk spread across the young Snakes face. This little fairy was getting caught!
Down the fairy came again and then back up. Hady began to count in her head how long it was between each time the fairy would come down. With her hand on the lid to her jar she waited. The fairy came down and Hady moved into action pulling the lid open and trapping the fairy inside closing the lid on it.
She got it! Grinning at the success she made her way back to the bushes where they had entered the area so she was out of the way. Lifting the jar to her face she watched the two fairies inside. They really didn't seem to happy with this.

The fairy may have escaped from her the first time, but it wouldn't be happening again. Deciding to act as if she wasn't after the fairy was the best plan, AJ turned her back on it, and hummed to herself. Nothing to see here. She was NOT hunting fairies. Do, da, dee.
The humming and giggling of the different fairies could still be heard. Were they falling for tricks? AJ could only hope so. She really wanted to be able to catch at least one without having to use magic. Waiting a few more minutes before her surprise attack, she continued to hum and clink the lid on the jar.
All of her patience was out the window. She was getting that blasted fairy, and she was getting it now. The second year whipped around and charged the fairy. Intent was all over her face. The fairy was caught off guard. This was a good thing. She was just inches from having the fairy in the jar. One more step... Clink. A random fairy was in the jar, and the lid was secured. Success! One down and one to go. This was turning out not to be so hard after all.

"For you." He offered one of them to her with a grin. "Now just give me your gloves and I'll do them too. You wanna try freezing, distracting, or catching the fairies?" He was cool with doing any of those. Freezing particularly seemed like it would take the least amount of effort to him. Probably easier than just distracting.
Yeahh Ruby hadn't bothered with a jar either, and obvy she hadn't needed one anyway so it was perfect. And besides it gave David a chance to be a gentleman, which impressed Ruby of course. She smiled happily and passed the gloves over. "Thank you! You're sooo sweet!"
Hmm what did she want to do?
"Oh I'll catch them with the jar, if you either freeze them or just try and shoo them my way?" That'd be fun.

It seemed this time Adi was the one who had a fairy get close...perhaps a little too close. The bugger being a bit playful and it was clear the Hufflepuff had made it his target even as it fluttered away to escape his spells before returning as if to badger the badger. Benny followed suit, doing his best to keep up with student and fairy. The sounds of the cast spells and flashes of misses were enough to keep a trail as the fairy kept evading his best friend.
Having gotten a little waylaid by the others in the grove, he was just finding his friend when he heard his name. "Thanks..." he said as he retrieved the frozen fairy, cautiously opening his jar to add it to the one he already had. He was done, just had to help Adi out for a bit. Though he wished he knew how much time they had left in the lesson...give them a better idea of how long they had.
"Guess its my turn again..." he mused to Adi as he thought on his next move. Less and less fairies were around meaning either they were caught or hiding out now that they were aware the students were clearly going after them. Benny didn't know how smart they might be. Finally spotting one going a bit slow, he decided to take a chance. "Immobulus!" he cast as the fairy decided in turn to flit away. "Immobulus," he cast in quick succession but it only seemed to stunner her, not freeze her completely.

Magic time. Here goes to hoping that she didn't have millions of problems trying to get her wand to cooperate. Worse case scenario, she could catch them without magic. She had already proved that she was capable of that much. Grabbing her wand, she twirled in between her fingers a few times. Practice first? Sure, why not? Practicing while scoping out some fairies seemed like a pretty good plan.
"Immobulus." That was the spell that she was going to use. "Immobulus, Immobulus, Immobulus." Who was ready to get caught? Because this lion was all set to go.
Spying a fairy to her right, she sped off and hollered "Immobulus." Nothing happened. Of course it didn't. "Immobulus." More of nothing. "Immobulus." Was that a giggle? The bloody fairy was laughing at her. Well, she would just show them. AJ didn't need magic to catch a freakin fairy. She was on a mission. She was going to catch the fairy that laughed at her. No other fairy would do.

Gloves on now, with the lid of the jar in one hand and the jar itself in the other, Ruby got herself ready to try and catch these fairies. And David worked fast, she was impressed, and she had already known he was good at spells too.
With the fairy frozen in the air, Ruby jumped up, snagging it with the jar and covering it with the lid, though she didn't screw the lid on since there'd be another one in there soon, right? She laughed happily and held it up like a trophy. One down.
"Lets see what else you've got, Mr Quick Draw." She said.. Mhmm because he was so slick with his wand and all.

"No problem,'' Adi responded, eyes on the cheeky fairy. It had better not give Benny any trouble otherwise Adi would make sure it stayed frozen. FOREVER. Just kidding. Maybe not forever but it would not be a wise idea for the fairy to cause trouble. Hmph. Thank goodness not all magical creatures were cheeky.
"Yup, it is.'' Adi told hold of his jar, his left hand around the lid ready to unscrew it to capture the next fairy. He scanned the air with Benny. There was definitely less fairies lurking about now. The fourth year was distracted by Benny's voice casting the Freezing Charm. Seemed as though his friend had made one his target. Though the fairy hadn't been frozen fully, it was enough spell work to get the job done.
Adi hurried forward, uncorking the jar and neatly scooping up the creature. "Done! Awesome job, Dragon.'' These two made an unbeatable team. He held up his hand. How about a high five?
..Yep this one wasn't going to be able to continue. "You're excused from today.." But to Javier there was no use ending the lesson over this when it hadn't been from the creatures. "Can someone make sure that Mr. Banner makes it to the Hospital Wing safely?" He was eyeing one of those who happened to sit by him mainly.
"They'll still be alive when we let them out later." Certain corners of his lips threaten to twitch at the sight of what he was doing. It didn't help the little poke he had gotten earlier from a certain student. "..'Scourgify' should clean that faster." Like so, he flicked his wand right at the boy's shirt and tie for proof.
"That sort of technique wouldn't gain us much benefit.." The wings were useless when merely ripped off.
Javier could understand some forgetting their items for class. Like the gloves or jars for instance.. but their own wand? His eyebrow rose at the Head Girl. She was lucky that this part could be done without one, though with its own difficulties. ".. I suggest you partner up with someone then." Just this one time he cleaned the jar for her. "Once class is over go and see the Headmistress about your situation." Having no wand would make her presence in other classes a waste of time until that was solved in his mind.
Good question. "No more than butterflies would."
Now that they were making their way past the bushes, they could now hear the high pitch buzzing taking place more clear. The giggles were happening louder too, but sounded less creepy when considering the owners of them. There were many fairies flying around radiating a soft glow around as if dancing throughout the grove. One could say the sight was pretty, others well.. everyone had their own taste in scenery.
"Now then.. We're going to be capturing at least one fairy in the jar. Two would be preferred so they won't be lonely." But that was their choice really on that. Now for the rules, "There are a number of ways. Like pixies you can send a cooling charm to freeze them or like butterflies remain stealthy with just the jar and lid alone." A few fairies were floating on by the group curiously, perhaps the flashy glitter off some of the borrowed gloves captured their attention?
The Professor's eyes were still on the students while he casually removed the lid off his own jar. "You can partner up with another if you so wish." Two of the fairies flew on away at the sight of the jar in his hands, "Given their speed, it wouldn't hurt having some extra help." Then with a soft *plop*, the Professor raised his arms capturing one unsuspecting fairy over his head. "Nothing to it." Though they were welcome to do the chasing route for one. "Whenever you're ready get to it." Cause now the Professor was off to get another one while watching them.
---- OOC: As demonstrated, you are to complete the activity by capturing up to two fairies in the jar.
- You may Freeze/Stun them without injuring them.
- Chase them with only the lid and jar.
- Have one student do the distracting/chasing and the other help capture.
- Be careful not letting one escape for the second capture.
This should take at least four posts for full credit, and remember to label them. You will have until October 4th, 11pm EST to complete this.

Eden thought about it...yeah, kind if like butterflies. She felt bad, making them feel all...captured and stuff. But maybe she would try to catch two, like he said, so the little guys wouldn't be so lonely and sad. She was still kinda' glaring in Kevin's direction. He was MEAN. For some reason, she didn't mind his presence, though.
AND he had asked someone ELSE to partner with him. RUDE. She scoffed at him and decided to work ALONE. She would be better-----oh wait. WHAT was the freezing spell?! She didn't know it! O___O Crap. But them, a few others started--and she heard them say the word, 'Immobulus.' RIGHT. That was it. Eden was hoping she'd...you know, get it right and stuff. She couldn't even remember the last time she had cast that spell---had she ever cast that spell? GAH this was NERVE-WRACKING.
She uncapped her jar, to prepare for capture...and she took out her wand. She stuck close to Kevin, though, and eyed him--he was partnering with someone ELSE and Eden just thought it was SOOOO rude?! But WHATEVER.
"Immobulus!" she cried suddenly, thinking she saw a sparkly thing--but all she managed to do was immobilize some leaves from falling to the ground...oops. SIGH SIGH SIGH. This would be harder than she thought, eh? A fairy kind of lazily flew by, the little laughter kind of...mocking, at leas to Eden, and she smirked...she would GET IT--
THUMP.
She had suddenly lurched forward, trying to entrap the fairy in her jar---of COURSE it escaped, and of COURSE Eden fell over. RIght into Kevin, too. OOPS?

The fairy with a giggling problem was about to meet AJ Valentine. Little did the fairy know, AJ didn't lose. She had her mind set to catching this particular fairy, and it was going to happen. A nice jog was happening as she stayed on the fairies tail. The creature still had the nerve to giggle at her. We would see just who would be giggling in the end.
AJ could jog all day long. She was very athletic, and this wasn't phasing her one bit. La, la, la. She reached for the fairy with her gloved hand, and missed. She was so close though. This was turning into a nice little game for her. Swipe, went her hand again, and she still came up short. You know what they say about the second time being a charm. If there was a time for the fairy to be worried, it would be now.
Swiiiipe, and a fairy was caught. AJ quickly batted it into the jar with the other fairy she caught. See why you didn't giggle at AJ when she was in full competition mode? You would lose. Her lid was tightly secured and she gave them both a firm look.
It was time to get some more fairies. "Here fairies, fairies, fairies..." Come out, come out wherever you are.

"Lets see what else you've got, Mr Quick Draw." She said.. Mhmm because he was so slick with his wand and all.
Grin. "I like that name," he commented. Sounded cool and awesome, like a western cowboy thing in those movies.
So now for a second fairy. There still looked like a lot flying around, but which one should be the one they captured next? Hmmm...
His eyed locked on a fairy hovering a couple feet away and quickly cast, "Immobulus!"
......Apparently not quick enough though because he MISSED. The fairy had dodged his spell...and apparently wasn't happy about being cast at. It flew RIGHT AT HIS FACE and startled him so much he stumbled back and fell onto his bum.
Dear Merlin, really???
The fairy continued to float above him and was buzzing angrily at him, probably telling him off for interrupting its grooming or whatever it'd been doing, and David was so annoyed he immediately pointed his wand at it again and cast, "Immobulus."
AND THIS TIME I WORKED. YEAH. No more attacking and buzzing angrily for you, fairy. Not right now, at least.
Getting to his feet, he turned to Ruby again. "You wanna try casting at some next?" After she'd caught this one in her jar, of course.
