Charms time it was, and Beverly Wayne was ready. She was in a better mood than most days and all was right in her world. Mostly. Yeah, lets go with that. Entering the class and taking a seat nearest the professor, she tied her hair up into a ponytail for concentration reasons.

"Good day, Professor Fuller." She even smiled lightly.

A nice day it was. Yes. Bring on the lesson.

Cutty entered the Charms classroom, gave Fuller a greeting nod and headed over to a seat that placed him near Grayson Whitlock. His back, he made sure was covered. From his perch he observed the classroom and all the little social groups. The girl who looked enough like Hallie to be of relation was there and buzzing about Sophie and Tempus. But that wasn't Hallie, no. She mentioned a sister. Could that have been her?

A little dark haired boy sat alone burying his nose in a booklet of sorts and his prefect struck up a conversation with a Ravenclaw girl. He really didn't like the people from that house.

"Disgoostin." He said beneath his breath as he removed his wand, parchment and quill from his bag. He said it to no one in particular, but perhaps Whitty or Beverly could've heard him.

All that done, Toby leaned back in his chair and slumped relaxed for the meanwhile, looking out of the window until they started. He supposed it was too cold to open the window up, but the breeze would have been welcome.

And then, his eyes landed on Marigold. That girl was always so confusing and stuff. Plus, she didn't really talk that much when they were together. It was always just... Awkward. But well, he did need someone to sit near and she was kind of just there so uh, hi Marigold.

As the students started to filter in, the Charms professor gave each of them a greeting in response to the ones he received. He exchanged hello’s, hi’s, sup’s, waves, nods to all those that offered him one first. See, these were the good students. The nice, quiet, respectful ones who said hi all pleasantly and took their seats like the patient, lovely children that they were.

As an extra incentive so he probably hopefully wouldn't get all professor-y and grumpy with her in front of everyone, she turned out both of her pockets so he could SEE that they were empty save for the chocolate frog box she set on his desk. "Also for you." As an I'm going to behave I swear peace offering. Her expression purely innocent and angelic, she caaaarefully side-stepped her way over to sit with Tobes. Heheheh.

And then there was Sophie. With her six little glitter specs. She was doing this just to spite him, he knew it. After he told her he didn’t want to see ONE spec of glitter left behind... she gave him six. Oh, and a peace offering. A chocolate frog. Did she realize he wasn’t going to eat it? She probably filled it with glitter.

Fuller stared at her for a moment and held back the amusement that he felt. ”You’ve got cheek, kid.” LOTS of it.

Fuller stood up from his desk and looked Kyroh STRAIGHT in the eye. ”I’m sorry, detention? Is that what you said? You want detention?” Because he would hAPPILY give him one. He wasn’t always a grumpy guy, but there was a time and place for mockery and it wasn’t then. And it wasn’t for HIM, either.

He shot a look to Sophie and Toby too. Because he HAD to. Not because he wanted to. But they had laughed, so the blame had to be shared.

She couldn't have been sure, but she was almost certain people were herding into yet another of those gatherings. She'd only caught the tail end of a few of them heading into this room but never being one to turn down an event, Maleficent presented herself in the room as well. Merlin’s beard, what now? Red headed queen? Stolen book? And now she was sitting on HIS desk????

Fuller looked at her with a CLEARLY unamused expression. ”I didn’t realize we had a thespian club here at Hogwarts.” That must be what she was practicing for? Unless she really was just bored and looking for attention. She had it now, she could sit down at her own desk. ”Go take a seat, Cambridge. On your chair.” Not his desk.

After shooing her away, Fuller looked at the clock and saw that they were already running behind due to the lovely distractions they had so far. Sigh.

”Alright everyone, be quiet. Sit down.” He was officially grumpy now. Time to start class. Woop woop.

Once everyone had shushed down, Fuller walked to the center of the front of the room and stuffed his hands into his pockets. ”Now, I know it’s only the beginning of the year. Your brains probably turned to mush over the summer from not being in class all the time, so I want to start off with a brief brain exercise. Think of all the things you did this summer. Those of you who are of age, what magic are you starting to use at home now that you are able to? Those of you who are underage, what kinds of magic did you wish you could have done over summer? I want everyone to think of something and answer.” There had to be something they wish they could do at home. Home during the summer was much different than being able to use magic at school.

BOYS.

Maddie was having a hard time sitting with HERS at the moment. "It's not Batman," She whispered, trying very hard not to be offended because HER drawing looked NOTHING like the dark knight. Did Dima need his EYES checked? But at LEAST Dima knew not to point out her cheeks which KYROH so kindly decided to do. Maddie swatted at his hand and nodded along with what Dima had said. Those were the RULES and she'd write them in the book for the thing that met in that place so it was official, yeah? GOSH. Her drawing was going AWAY now.

And did Professor Fuller just ask if Kyroh wanted detention? He was staring at him so it must be true. Fuller had pretty eyes, huh? But anyway...Maddie's eyes widened slightly because she really didn't want her best f-word to be upset in this lesson. She DID think that some extra time spend with their knowledgeable Charms Professor would be beneficial, though. Because knowledge. Yeah. Maybe they could stop by his office sometime INSTEAD of detention. Kyroh was going to get himself out of this, yeah?

Brain into mush? What was THIS? Brains were valuable and they needed to be exercised, especially if you were going to be ruler of the world someday. Maddie certainly didn't let HERS waste away over the summer. She had read and planned and occasionally pranked the brothers and ALL those things were beneficial to her mind, thank you very much.

"The unlocking charm would've been beneficial over the summer, Professor." MAYBE for mischievous reasons but she didn't have to share THAT part.

AJ was first to arrive. Adi greeted her with a smile. "Hey,'' was all he managed to give in reply as Angel turned up practically skipping into the classroom. She got an amused look from him. Benny was usual was last. Adi gave him a wide grin. Hiiiii, awesome bestie.

Oh hey, the lesson was getting underway. Great! What kind of magic he wished he could have done over the summer? That was an easy question, yo! Adi knew this answer immediately. Hand up, he answered "Those spells that can make you put stuff in their rightful places.'' Being a dude, he sometimes let his room get waaaay too messy when CDs, comic books and other things were strewn around. He would not object to learning those types of spells. It would save him precious time where he could be doing other stuff.

Eden snorted at Connor. The Gryffindor was truly ridiculous. But he was HER ridiculous Gryffindor-friendly, of course. Nothing more, and she was confident that she and Connor were just friends. No matter what other people said at all.

"NO. I will NOT. Just the handsome ones." She whispered, so the pretty professor wouldn't hear her. "And I most certainly hate you the most out of everyone in this room." So there, Connor Jones. She smirked, though, and would probably continue to tease him like this all class.

"Ruby Banner--her brother is in my house. In my year. Gabriel?" Honestly, did Connor pay ATTENTION to things? Eden had a lot of nerve, though, because she was very oblivious to everything ever. She tried not to say his name TOO loud do he wouldn't think they were talking about it--they kind of were, but not badly. She just wanted to know why he was peering at Connor in such a way.



HI HELLOs were exchanged, and Eden just sighed. He was friendly enough, good. SHe was going to be really lousy at this class, so it was best that he be---oh. Now he was being grumpy.

Eden just raised an eyebrow. Who had put him in such a mood?! He was FINE a few minutes ago! Ugh. Whatever. He was starting class, and she flicked Connor's shoulder once so that he would quit blabbering away--and paid GOOD attention to Professor...Fuller, apparently.

What HAD she done this summer? She tried to think of something INTERESTING to say. Well...there was one time...with Phe...YES. She would say this aloud. And expect Connor grumbles about it, too. She raised her hand gingerly.

"I actually jumped off a bridge once--" she beamed. And then, she blushed, realizing it sounded really ODD and continued--" With my friend, Phoenix." You know, the puffy-haired Gryffindor? "And we jumped off a bridge into a lake, so it was all nice and fun and full of adrenaline. And it was a very HOT day so..yeah." THERE. She hoped that would be a nice enough story. It might not be entirely legal to just jump off a bridge into a lake...or had it been a river? Eden didn't know. Not the point.

ADRENALINE.

"Knowing the drying spell would have been handy. I still forget it all the time." Nod nod. Eden had horribly memory when it came to spells.

Ian had been mindlessly doodling sea beasties on his parchment when he heard the professor speak. The first thing he really noticed was the professor trying to get the crazy head girl off his table and to her own seat. Ian looked around, wondering where she would be placed.

Listening to the professor, Ian heard him mention summer, and mushy brains and magic. Summer, and mushy brain, he could relate with. Magic, he could not. He hadn't been able to use magic this summer and the one time he tried, well...his solitude was testament enough. Ian took a deep breath and tried to think of the magic he would have preferred to use. THinking about carrying those heavy traps around, Ian knew exactly what he'd wished he could do. Even if there was no rule against underage magic, Ian had been lectured by his dad there would be no funny business on his boat. Ian would loved to have levitated his traps about. Professor... Ian began before clearing his throat. I would have liked to be able to use wingardium leviosa. Would have made part of my work easier.

As soon as Fuller had mentioned detention to Kyroh, Toby had shut straight up and looked back around again, biting the inside of his lip anxiously. 'Cause Kyroh probably hadn't meant to do something troublesome; had probably said it in good humour or because it had just slipped out. The Hufflepuff glanced towards Kyroh, hoping hoping hoping that he wasn't upset by the detention-threat-thing.

Toby caught the ~look~ too, and if it was possible to shut up any more than he already had, then he'd have done so. Instead he just sort of......... slunk down in his seat a little more, and looked down at his desk guiltily and quietly. He was picking up on Fuller's grumpy mood, and knowing he'd helped cause it? Well. WELL. It wasn't a fun feeling.

And when that question came up about summer and magic and everything......... he was even less willing to speak up and answer. Nope. No. He'd just sit here quietly and be good and write his notes and not make eye contact and look back out the window and pretend he was invisible okay good plan.

Class was starting, and the first question was what spell she wished she could use over the summer. Hmm, that was a good one. Raising her hand, she gave an answer. "The drying spell because someone hit me with a water balloon when I was in Diagon Alley." That someone being Marigold.

Jasmine sat up a little straighter. It was time for class to begin and the topic was, "What charms did I use over the summer?". After thinking about it for a moment, Jasmine raised her hand. "I found the cleaning charms helpful. I did a lot of Scourgify and Tergeo. It definitely was a real timesaver.". Sure, they weren't exactly fun charms, but with her chores done quickly, it left more time for fun things.

Some Professor understood that some kids did not want to just say hello all the time it got boring. He was not being rude or anything. Just having a tiny bit of fun.

Dante wished his brain would turn to mush during the summer and forget most of the useless info he will learn. Yeah, sounded like fun. But he did not get that chance. But he has thought of what it would be like to know a lot of magic and what spells he would use.

"The kind of magic that would make me a giant ramp to launch himself off of on my bike and do some epic tricks while landing in a pit of soft blocks. Which was also magicked there"

Now that would be awesome spells to learn.

Angel, Benny and Adi all got nods from her. She was distracted with all the drama that was unfolding around her. For once she was not involved so she would just sit back and watch the show. It seemed as if Lex had a thing about sitting in the professor's seats. What was up with that? Everything that Lex had been doing was questionable. AJ was surprised that none of the professor's had lost their cool with her yet.

No time to worry about that now because the class was moving on with or without her. Hmm... there were so many things that she wished she could have used magic on. What to say? What to say? The professor wouldn't want to hear another unicorn rant, and besides she didn't think there was a spell that would automatically make you a unicorn owner. Scratch that idea. AJ raised her hand. "I wish I could have used magic on my chores." Who liked helping to cook, wash dishes and clothes? Not her.

Angel looked at the Professor as she raised her hand. "I wished I could have used a spell to do the washing up." Angel sighed. "When it's my turn... it can get boring." Angel didn't think her mother would let them use it even if they could though, she was a muggle see as was her father. "I don't know if it's because I'm a triplet but boy do we use a lot of plates and cups and things at home." Angel was being truthful.

His brain did not turn to mush over the summer. Maybe it was a little mushy, but not super mushy, you know? Just like the perfect amount of mush. Okay, okay it was all mush. But at least it was Fourth Year mush. Ahem. As for the question, he had to think for a bit. He didn't actually accomplish too much over the summer holiday. Really all he did was get some more freedom to go to Diagon Alley all by himself for the very first time. And then he got into a fight with Lux. And then he bumped into Mack. And that was still awkward. But uh, he did buy some chocolate frogs?

"Magic that would help me carry all my chocolate frogs to the train station for me." That was his final answer. Except he wasn't really sure which spell would really work for that... Maybe a simple "Locomotor... chocolate frogs?"

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Ruby was being SO good not SAYING particular things, though she had a KNOWING look in her eyes as she watched the professor. SO THIS WAS THE ONE?

.... maaaybe she could get a good grade out of the association?

She put her hand up.

"I don't need to do spells, I get boys to do things for me." PAUSE. "I'm Ruby Banner by the way sir, its SO NICE to meet you."

The getting boys to do things thing was a thing, but honestly if Ruby was putting any particular thought into an answer there were a few things she could say that she'd like to be able to do.

For instance it was totally handy being able to quickly dry your nails without waiting around.

You weren't suppose to notice when someone's cheek was red? Was that one of those unspoken rules that Dot had told him about the first time they met? Social conventions? He still didn't GET those. "But what if she was sick?" The second year asked as he himself was poked in the cheek.

There wasn't time for an answer though. Nope. Because no sooner than the question had left his mouth had the Charms Professor come swooping in.

.........Detention?

"...Didn't say that Professor." His voice came out strangely calm. Not upset in the least bit. He had offered the Professor help with his hair, that was all really.

Maybe he just needed to clean out his ears? Surely Professor Piersi-wait......no.........his name was Fuller.

Oops.

..."A spell to make myself invisible." Because that would have worked excellent in the summer at any time. And now. Couldn't give detention to an invisible person.

Hmmmm. What spells had she wanted to use? Uhhhh how about all of them. She raised her hand in the air and said "I would make myself invisible so I would always win Hide n' Seek with my little brothers." Not that she needed any help, she DOMINATED at Hide n' Seek, but it would have been fun to laugh at them trying to find her for hours. Ha. Brothers. It was fun to see them frustrated.

She had CHEEK, did she?

Well, Soph wasn't really sure if it was meant as a compliment or not, but she absolutely took it as one, grinning away despite his lack of a reciprocated smile. He had to put on a good show for the rest of the class, didn't he? Let them think if they were cheeky with him, he'd glare at 'em and be scary? So she didn't let it bother her too much. It probably wasn't a personal thing.

...But then he gave the threat of detention to poor little Kyroh who OBVIOUSLY was so innocent that Fuller couldn't have REALLY thought the kid was being deliberately cheeky - which was what had made it SO funny in the first place, though, because Kyroh HAD been so obviously unknowing that what he said was not right.

Fuller... was really not a happy camper, however, which made it easier for Soph to stop laughing and sober up a little, only traces of a smile lingering on her face. He... wasn't REALLY mad, was he? Wasn't he putting on a show for the class again? A tough facade so the others who he didn't love as much wouldn't bother him like that in the future?

Riiiiiight??

She tried to look really, really innocent despite the look he was giving her and Tobes, and she managed to peek at her boyfriend and make sure he wasn't taking the scolding from his father figure too terribly. And... it seemed he was taking it pretty hard, based upon the way his whole posture had drooped and he seemed very keen on not making eye contact with anyone ever again in his whole life.

Sophie sighed a little, her expression turned apologetic as she turned her gaze back up to Fuller, wondering if the man realized how quickly Toby's mood had just plummeted, too, and mouthing a "sorry" on behalf of both herself and Tobes.

She was all about remedying the situation as best as she could, of course, and stuck her hand high in the air at the professor's question. She could cheer them both up in an instant, she knew she could. "I wish I could've been able to cast Orchideous to present a bouquet of flowers to people as a congratulations when they shared good news with me." Heeeeeeehehehe. He knew what she meant, right? Even though she was super vague and no one would suspect she meant anything about him? "And using magic to cook stuff and clean up messes would've been good, too." ALSO things he knew all about firsthand. Though she said it all so casually that no one would suspect a thing and it was like a little secret inside joke between them. And Tobes a little. Something... that would... hopefully make him smile? Remember the good times? Et cetera, et cetera?

If she was being completely honest, "I'm growing awfully short with the name Cambridge. It does not belong to me and I'd hoped someone would take me seriously by now." With an elegant flash of her hand she thought it prudent to introduce herself. "You have the pleasure of meeting Maleficent, Mistress of All Evil. You'd do best not to forget it." You think people would take a hint after she'd gone to the trouble dying her hair black and finding more suitable robes. Slow, that's what these people were.

In all this she didn't move an inch from her spot on his desk. It was quite a lovely desk. The chair looked good too but she'd sit here for now. Thanks for the suggestion though.

"I use whatever spells I want whenever I want regardless of the season. What sort of question is this?" Didn't everyone with the capability use magic? It'd be a pity if they didn't. "Though I suppose if you must specify.....In the summer things get hot and I'm more easily irritated. I'd say spells to make people permanently disappear."

That was her take on the matter.

The professor got a very WIDE-EYED look when he was being terse with Kyroh, because Kyrohs never ever should be talked to like that. You needed to not hurt their feelings because they were lovely. Like Dimas. They needed people like Maddie and Dot to keep them safe. But why wasn't Dima sitting with her?

She twitched a bit before raising her hand to answer his question. Since he was the professor and everything. A mean one, though. Super mean. "I wanted to make sequins with my wand, but I couldn't even practice it until I got here."

What did Caleb want to do if he could legally use magic? Please, what WOULDN'T he do if he could use magic?! Chores would be a thing of the past! He wouldn't ever get up to do ANYTHING - he'd levitate everything towards him. It would be the life, it really would.

He raised his hand. "I wish I could use magic so I could magically vanish all of the Crup poop I had to pick up in the backyard from Baldwin," he said bluntly. It was true, that was the worst chore of them all!

And class has begun! Ethan focused all of his attention to the man up front, parchment and self-inking quill at the ready. Usually, Fuller’s classes are brief in theory and more on the practical stuff which makes it more fun. Anyway, onto his first question. He’s underage still, and to be honest, he’d love to do charms stuff outside of school. Why?

Hand up. “Professor? I’d like to use a charm that could help me clean up my room, putting back all of my stuff where it belongs.” Now that, is dead useful.

Uh-huh.

Kace liked the professor's question. He wondered what spell could he have used to help him out this summer. Oh he knew one in an instant. "Well professor I think I would have loved to use scourgify to help clean the dishes faster and not do it by hand. I would have also loved to use the levitation charm so I wouldn't have to pick up such heavy boxes." He knew Belle could do it but he wished he could.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!

Professor Piersie. Oh MAN. Kyroh had said it. Oh JEEZ.

The detention part wasn't funny but what WAS funny was that this came from one of the most innocent people Grayson knew. It was always the innocent ones.

Brains turned to mush? Certainly felt that way what with getting used to the new routine and all. And it wasn't as if Grayson had bothered looking in his textbooks once he bought them. He wasn't gonna give himself MORE work to do! Not during the HOLIDAYS. Holidays were meant to be spent having fun and enjoying the time off. No WAY was he gonna sit there and figure out whether Cheering Charms were better than a vial of Elixir to Induce Euphoria.

Think of all the things he did? SMIRK. Yeah, not gonna say anything about THAT..

Being underage, Grayson decided to answer the second question instead. "Any spell that'll help me do chores faster is helpful, in my books. Or Protego, in case of unwanted attacks." Freaking Billy from down the road and his freaking stupid pranks. "You need to be able to defend yourself and bringing up a good shield charm can be better than using your bag or whatever." Especially if you didn't carry around a hefty bag in the first place.

Samantha thought about her summer. Being under-age, she hadn't been able to practice any spells. She knew plenty of spells that she wanted to use over the summer. So she raised her hand. "I would have loved to have used packing spells, cleaning spells and cooling charms. It certainly would have made things a lot easier."
