| | |  Astronomy Lesson 3 :: Field Trip to the National Space Centre
The Astronomy classroom looks a bit more vacant than usual as all the chairs are stacked neatly on each desk with their legs sticking upwards. The windows are closed to keep the chilly winds out and the professor's desk at the front of the room has an array of strange things placed upon it. There is also a backpack sitting on the desk next to a stack of museum pamphlets. A box of brown envelopes with each student's name written upon them in Professor Flamsteed's slightly illegible handwriting is not too far away. The chalkboard behind the desk simply reads:
Quote: Take a pamphlet and envelope each.
Please give your permission slip to the professor.
Portkey in half an hour. Professor Flamsteed, back in a suit, is standing beside the chalkboard with a nervous smile upon his face as he hums to himself while waiting for students to file in.
Did you remember to use the lint roller on the small table outside of the classroom? It was there next to the sign that reads, "Not to be used as a brush for your hair" and has the signature of a former student in the bottom right corner.
So come on in and get ready to boldly go where no has gone before!

Cora had barely gotten her hand on the portkey before the countdown started. At the sound of ten, she knew there was no turning back even if she wanted to.
Yes, she was overly excited for the field trip but she was not a huge fan of portkeys. One terrible experience was enough for her. Even the sheer mention made her feel ill, but she put on a brave face and attempted not to flinch or tense up as the swirling sensation became in her naval.
She felt like she was going to be ill as she clinched her eyes shut at the count of three.
I just had to keep it together, she reminded herself at the count of one and then they were gone. |

Having handed in the permission slip and listened to the professor for the first part of the lesson, Declan was ready to go! He gripped on the nearest portkey near him, not looking forward for the sensation, but otherwise ready. He closed his eyes as the professor counted down and..............WHOOSH, he was gone.

Okay this wasn't going to be all that terrible right? It never was. Haha... Not. Flamsteed continued the count down. It was getting closer and closer. Five Cinna you better make sure that your grip was good on this porkey. By the time the professor got to three, Cinna decided to close her eyes, because that pulling feeling was coming in two... one.
She was gone...Bye Hogwarts.

Landing on his feet safely back in the classroom, the astronomer immediately did another headcount to make sure that everyone was here and accounted for. Merlin help him if he lost a student or two on top of the apparent closet capers. But all was well and in good form.
"Alright everyone, class dismissed. Homework will be posted on the Sky News board later today," he announced as he shook his own bag from the gift shop eagerly. "Thank you all for coming and being on your best behavior." Well, most of them from what he had seen.
"Have an absolute STELLAR rest of your day!"
He was still more than a bit bouncy from, well, everything. Not to mention he had some new toys devices meant for scientific inquiry and study.

Ouch. Penelope was still not used to traveling by portkey, and she had not landed on her feet. She was lying on her back where she and landed, feeling quite ill and hoping that she wouldn't be sick again. Class was over, but she was just going to stay here on the floor for a minute if Professor Flamsteed didn't mind. She didn't feel like she would be able to get up just yet. "Ughh." Trying to move was probably not a good idea right now, at leaf not until she was feeling a bit better.

The moment her feet hit the floor Hady stumbled slightly but quickly caught herself on the wall behind her. Closing her eyes a moment she let her stomach settle. Maybe Zeke was right, it didn't feel as bad as last time. She was a little nauseous again but not like earlier. Opening her eyes she adjusted her bag over her shoulder. Feeling his feet hit the floor, Zeke couldn't help but feel a LITTLE disappointed to be back. He would have liked another half hour to see more things, but it was still a great day out. "Thanks Professor! That was awesome fun," Zeke trilled as he pulled his bag higher up his back before quickening his pace to head out of class, he could have sworn he saw Hady just leave. He needed to catch her for a copy of that photo at some stage.

"You're welcome," he saluted each student as the passed. "Thank you for coming!" Maybe he could dig into some of his space ice cream now...just a bite or two. Medea wouldn't know if one of the packages was gone as long as she had one of her own...
Until he nearly tripped over someone lying down on the ground. Ravenclaws. Sweet solstice why was it always Ravenclaws? Particularly this one?
"I'd prefer if you didn't use my classroom floor for your nap space, Miss Wright," he said with a slight shake of the head. Even if it was probably cleaner than the beds in the dormitories. Not that the house elves were not efficient. The professor just trusted his own cleaning skills and muggle equipment a bit more than house elf magic.
Was she too exhausted to move? Clearly had had far too much fun on the field trip.
Wand out, the astronomer gave it a quick flick to levitate her right off the floor. "Allow me to escort you back to your common room," he nodded. Or if he passed an empty sofa in any of the corridors. He could drop her off there as well.
With the exhausted from FUN Ravenclaw floating beside him, and the classroom now void of other students, Airey left the classroom with her floating alongside him and locked the classroom behind them.
