| | Ancient Runes Workshop
When you walk into the other door in the corridor, right next to the office, you find yourself facing a large room filled with different items, tables and big rocks fixed to the floor. If you look closely, you'll notice that the workshop is divided into different corners, a piece of parchment with information about each activity is hanged in each of those corners. There are different kind of tools and equipment lining the walls, crammed in the drawers or lying in baskets on the floor. If you're a fifth year or older, you'll probably be able to do all the spells needed in this workshop room. Those items mainly are for younger students, hence you'll find no real hammers, nails or even scissors. Professor Botros charmed them so that they were safe for the younger students. So if you try to prick your skin with a nail, it won't work and just give you a slight shock as a remainder to not harm yourself/someone else. But if you try to fixate the nail on wood, it'll be as sharp as a, well, nail. Anyways, professor Botros spends quite a lot of time in this room so he'll be around almost all the time just in case.
As well as the following activity, you're more than welcome to grab a chair and claim a spot on one of the tables and work on your ancient runes homework! Professor Botros might even be around and in the mood to help you out. Claycraft:A big counter in the middle of the room is set up for clay related activity. There are small wooden boxes full of colorful clay balls. Each box is closed by a wooden lid, the clay will dry and turn into solid mass after an hour or two when it's exposed to the air. You can use those to make your own set of Runes or just making runes and sticking them to a board, or even make talismans and etching into the clay a runic script for protection or good fortune or anything you want. There are much more to do with the clay, just remember it has to be something related to runes – or else you'll hurt professor Botros' feelings for not using his workshop for his favorite thing in the world. Woodcraft:The left northern corner has piles of wood planks on the counter, with screwdrivers and hammers hanging on the wall. Older students can use their wands to carve into the wood. Many shapes are available; circular, rectangular, sticks with a flat side, and small squares. You can change their sizes too with the right spell. ooc: - Chatter is allowed here, and the purpose of this workshop is for your character to have fun as well as learn something new. If you want the professor's interference just put it in your post's title and I will reply as soon as I can. If it's an emergency, such as someone fainted or spotted a SNOGGING couple oh la la you can VM/PM me.

Exactly a month after his 15th birthday, Ethan decided to unearth his gift from Mordred from his trunk, and headed towards the Ancient Runes Workshop room. He already got an idea on what to do with is miniature detective magnifying glass, but he had no idea on how to do it magically. Remembering that Botros kept muggle tools for them in his workshop, the boy considered doing it manually.
Setting his gift on the workstation, he moved to where the nails and hammers were, and got himself one of each. Returning to his seat, he looked at his present and considered his next actions for the nth time that evening. Merlin, it was the best birthday present he got from his cousin, and he didn’t want to ruin it.
He knew there was a way to inscribe runes onto its edge magically, but his brain was currently failing him. He should have gone to the Library for help. Better though, if there was an older student who could teach him the spell. Preferably someone who’s brilliant with spellwork.
Sighing, Ethan closed his eyes and gently slammed his forehead on the table, mumbling words of frustration.

His grandkids must've held on to him when his son was about to ship the Crup off to him. Botros was smiling, amused, by the idea as he walked into his workshop with the intention to prepare for next week's class. That is, until he heard bumping and saw a Slytherin kid doubled over at the table. "Wh--" He started, concerned that the boy wasn't feeling alright?? Was his head alright???
Botros pulled a chair and sat by-- "Mr. Mordaunt!" Oh he knew this kid, he was the one who sleepwalked if Ab's memory didn't fail him AGAIN. "Are you alright, son? Ooooh is that a magnifying glass." The old man's face beamed, momentarily forgetting about the distressed boy. |

The old man's face beamed, momentarily forgetting about the distressed boy. He may have slammed his forehead harder than intended because as soon as he closed his eyes, he saw stars swirl before him. Ethan was too busy thinking about the possible spells he could use as he imagined the possible Runes he should inscribe in his magnifying glass, when he heard his name.
The prefect immediately raised his head off of the table and beamed at the man now sitting beside him. "Professor!" Ethan beamed. The boy could not help but feel light around this man. It was a joy to be around him. "...or should I say...good evening, Deputy Headmaster?" Ethan momentarily forgot about his gift and considered hugging the man. "Oh, yes...I am okay, I just..." The prefect noticed the look on the man's face and this made him grin even more. "...thinking of a spell." he continued as he got the magnifying glass off the table. "Do you want to take a look at it?" he asked as he offered the gift to the Runes Master.

"Do you want to take a look at it?" he asked as he offered the gift to the Runes Master. Botros chuckled at the 'deputy' calling, he hadn't been called that by a student yet. "Deputy, professor, Ab, everything works." He wasn't fussed about titles but also he liked his students to have manners and common sense. He knew for sure that Ethan, at least, did.
Anyway, the magnifying glass was instantly in his hand as he was offered. "Sure, it looks great." He inspected it slowly, admiring the clarity of the glass. "You were thinking of a spell? What spell?" Botros asked, taking off his small half-moon shaped glasses and looked through the magnifying glass at the table in front of them.
"It is a very clear glass, where did you get it? And why?" They sure had learnt that spell that could replace this fine tool, he knew for sure that Flamsteed must've taught it at one point. |

They sure had learnt that spell that could replace this fine tool, he knew for sure that Flamsteed must've taught it at one point. “Professor Ab.” Ethan let the words roll out of his tongue, testing it. “I like that. I’ve never called any professor by their nickname.” The prefect shrugged, smiling as he did so. Botros is an awesome man, and it feels great to call him by a name that sounds almost familial. Ethan imagined his grandkids calling him Grandpa Ab. Lucky, lucky grandkids really.
Now onto the tiny magnifying glass. “I got it for my 15th birthday from my cousin, although I have this feeling that it’s actually from my dad’s dad.” Alfonzo can be a scary bat, but Ethan believes that he is a good man. “They know that I am a great fan of Sherlock Holmes. He’s my inspiration to pursue a career in Magical Forensics once I’m out of Hogwarts.” Ethan watched as the man inspected his gift, wondering what’s going on inside his head. Is his magnifying glass that rare? The Slytherin can’t tell, but he can be sure that it’s made of the finest materials, given that it came from Gramps Mordaunt. “I was wondering if there’s a charm I can place on the glass to magnify things like a powerful telescope? It’ll benefit me greatly so I don’t have to go very far to see clues.” And also to save time? Ethan cleared his throat as he turned to the workshop table and got the hammer. “I’d also like to inscribe around the frame some Runes. I was thinking of the Kenaz, Eihwaz, Perthro…and maybe Sowilo?” Ethan asked the Runes Master himself, if those would be perfect for the magnifying glass. “The thing is…I don’t know how to inscribe them magically, and I’m tempted to resort to the muggle way of doing it.” Ethan paused as he looked at his beautiful magnifying glass. “I’m afraid I might ruin it if I’m not careful…” the boy trailed off, hoping that Botros has got something up his sleeve to solve his dilemma.
