Once she was seated again, Clara looked back up to the board and let out an audible sigh. No 'spell' should be that long. She had good reading skills, a good memory and all but that was ridiculous. Theoretically, this was just like another language. She loved languages, but this ... this was even worse than Mermish. How was she expected to speak that accurately?

Speaking it very slowly, she practised several times. "Sowilo sowilo sowilo, u u u u u u u u u, s s s o o o l l l, ju ja ji je jo, us as is es os, j j j e e e r r r a a a, si se su sa su, u u u u u u r r r r r r, s s s s s s s s s". Well ..... it wasn't so bad if you spoke incredibly slow. Even then she'd tripped up a couple of times.

With another sigh, she turned her attention to the potted plant in front of her before making sure she was holding the vile with the same hand that the rune bracelet was on.

She was ready ... ish ..............

Pouring and chanting. Gabe could do this.....

Of course......as he poured and chanted......the runes did not glow.....or heat up. He'd actually read somewhere that runes would warm to the touch if their magic had been properly activated. Surely, that meant the metal they were attached to in this case.......but nothing. He glanced down at his worst, visually double checking that the bangle was there and on the right side; the right wrist.

It was.

So, why hadn't it starred working?!

Feeling his cheeks starting to burn, Gabe tried again.

"......Sowilo, sowilo, sowilo, u, u, u, u, u, u, u, u, u, s, s, s, o, o, o, l, l, l,
ju, ja, ji, je, jo, us, as, is, es, os, j j j e e e r r r a a a, si, se, su,

Sprinkle, sprinkle.

Still nothing.

Jasmine picked up her vial of potion in her bracelet hand, while continuing to focus on healing her plant. She looked at the plant and pictured it healthy and robust. Then she began to chant.

"Sowilo sowilo sowilo, u u u u u u u u u , s s s o o o l l l, ju ja, ji je jo, us as is es os, j j j e e e r r r a a a, si se su sa su, u u u u u u r r r r r r, s s s s s s s s s"

As Jasmine began to chant, she slowly poured the potion into the soil. All the while she imagined the plant's leaves green and spot free. She tried to put her positive energy into her words and hoped that it would somehow transfer to the little plant. If it was possible to will the plant to be better, Jasmine's should be just fine. Now Jasmine guessed that all she had to do now was wait. She checked her watch and noted the time. "Come on little plant", she thought......."Heal".

Now for the especially tricky part.

Clara read and reread the instructions on the board at the front. Chant the spell thing and pour the potion. It seemed simple enough but from her Ancient Runes experience she knew it wouldn't be. Ancient Runes and Arithmancy were the two lessons she struggled most in - in all the others she was soaring. She wanted desperately to succeed in this lesson, too. At least she could use the runes on the bracelet to gauge roughly how well she was doing in this particular task.

To do that, though, she'd actually have to do the task.

The redhead started slowly, chanting the spell while pouring the potion onto the plant gradually. "Sowilo sowilo sowilo, u u u u u u u u u, s s s o o o l l l, ju ja ji je jo, us as is es os, j j j e e e r r r a a a, si se su sa su, u u u u u u r r r r r r, s s s s s s s s s." ..... Nothing. Clara tried not to get frustrated. Getting frustrated would not improve her performance.

..... Again, she chanted and poured, "sowilo sowilo sowilo, u u u u u u u u u, s s s o o o l l l, ju ja ji je jo, us as is es os, j j j e e e r r r a a a, si se su sa su, u u u u u u r r r r r r, s s s s s s s s s". ... And again ... "Sowilo sowilo sowilo, u u u u u u u u u, s s s o o o l l l, ju ja ji je jo, us as is es os, j j j e e e r r r a a a, si se su sa su, u u u u u u r r r r r r, s s s s s s s s s."

............ Still not a thing had changed about her bracelet ...

Something about Gabriel Banner that might have been obvious....He hated failing. This was mostly because he usually tried his best and succeeded. With his languages, with most other studies.....and he was honestly trying. So, it made no logical sense for the runes not to be glowing.

Perhaps.......Um, perhaps he wasn't being....uh, loud? enough....

After glancing around the room....furtively, Gabe mumbled a bit louder...but it really wasn't much better than what he'd been doing before.

Not to be called a quitter, he kept at this for a long while; mumbling and concentrating until he was legit sweaty and crimson red in the face. He'd finally achieved a small amount of light from his bronze bangle...but the white spots remained on the plant.

Translation? Failure.

Okay. Fine. He'd....speak a bit louder.......in a moment. Gabe was dearly in need of a time out.

Glad that her runes had glowed and assuming that things were working, Jasmine waited and waited and waited some more. When the thirty minute mark came and went, she started to worry that things might not work as well as she hoped. She finally decided that negative thoughts and negative energy were not very productive for this exercise. Would it help to keep concentrating and throwing positive vibes toward the plant. It wouldn't hurt, she guessed.

Now forty five minutes had gone by and still the plant was spotty. Should she start chanting again? Probably not, but Jasmine's patience was starting to wear thin. What if it took hours for any change to happen? What if a change never happened? Jasmine pushed those thoughts out of her mind.......again and chose to believe that it would work......eventually. She decided not to keep checking her watch because that was not helpful. Sooooo she sat quietly and continued to wait some more.

At least two hours had passed now.

By this point, Clara was convinced that something was wrong with her bracelet ... and she didn't mean the runes she'd very roughly drawn on it. She couldn't possibly have recited the chant so badly so many times. It just wasn't plausible. Not to mention how embarrassing it would be. Ugh.

She wasn't giving up just yet, though. The 'claw resumed pouring the potion onto the plant, and chanting slowly and carefully. "Sowilo sowilo sowilo, u u u u u u u u u, s s s o o o l l l, ju ja ji je jo, us as is es os, j j j e e e r r r a a a, si se su sa su, u u u u u u r r r r r r, s s s s s s s s s." PAUSE. Nothing. This was getting ridiculous and ... she could feel people watching her and laughing at her struggles. Granted, there properly wasn't anyone doing that, but that's what it FELT like. She refused to look, just in case.

Again. She positioned the vile over the plant and poured extremely slowly, this time not even trying to recite from memory at all. She read from the board, very slowly and very precisely. "Sowilo sowilo sowilo, u u u u u u u u u, s s s o o o l l l, ju ja ji je jo, us as is es os, j j j e e e r r r a a a, si se su sa su, u u u u u u r r r r r r, s s s s s s s s s." Now, instead of there being no reaction, the bracelet glowed. IT FINALLY GLOWED ..... Trying not to let that distract her, she continued the chant, but unfortunately, just as quickly as it begun to glow, the glow faded away.

It may as well have been a trick of the light.

Gabriel had to pause in the middle of his chanting....to give himself a pep talk. His cheeks were still stained a deep red....but his hands were now trembling...Especially the one holding the potion vial.........It was no good. He was going to spill the lot if he didn't calm down some.

Plenty of people were taking a while to finish. It wasn't shameful to struggle....AND he had been almost whispering. Yes, he had been....but it was difficult to speak up. He didn't enjoy grabbing anyone's attention. Anyone's.

He did some more glancing around and resolved to really speak up.....and do some visualizing, too. Visualizing helped with other spell work. Surely, it could....work now?

Guh. Fine.

"......Sowilo, sowilo, sowilo, u, u, u, u, u, u, u, u, u, s, s,
s, o, o, o, l, l, l,

BLINK.

...........and NOW they were glowing. Uh....right now....what was he doing differently? Speaking a bit louder? It might have been the visualizing, actually.....upon further review. He could see, in his mind's eye...the bangle lighting up...and the plant healing. So....he continued on in that vein. More sprinkling of the potion, more visualizing, more louder speaking. Well, just as he had the previous time......No more louder than that.

The spots were definitely starting to vanish.....and Gabriel spoke up, despite his pending embarrassment.

He was frustrated. It had finally worked....and he'd nearly wasted four hours on making it do so....

So.....what were they to do now.....? Just leave? After carefully documenting his process, Gabriel repacked his bag and left the room.

This. Was. The. Worst.

Why couldn't she get it right?

Another hour and a half had passed now and Clara's hand was starting to shake. She was also becoming concerned that she was running out of potion. That wasn't a massive problem, she could always go to the front and get more, but she didn't want to. If that happened it would just be another embarrassing thing that made her feel like a failure in the class. She was definitely going to have to work harder in Ancient Runes in the future.

So far, all she'd managed was her bracelet briefly glowing. It wasn't remotely good enough.

This time, Clara focused not only on reciting the spell accurately but on her thoughts. "Sowilo sowilo sowilo, u u u u u u u u u, s s s o o o l l l, ju ja ji je jo, us as is es os, j j j e e e r r r a a a, si se su sa su, u u u u u u r r r r r r, s s s s s s s s s." She imagined the bracelet glowing and the white spots vanishing, keeping her hand steady and voice confident. Perhaps all she needed was to will it into happening. "Sowilo sowilo sowilo, u u u u u u u u u, s s s o o o l l l, ju ja ji je jo, us as is es os, j j j e e e r r r a a a, si se su sa su, u u u u u u r r r r r r, s s s s s s s s s." Vanish ... you stupid white spots ... just vanish.

And ..... almost like MAGIC ..... they did ...

Her bracelet glowed, even warming slightly against her skin. The spots ... gone; the plant was healed. It was all Clara could do not to jump up in delight and throw the rest of the potion over her classmates. Instead, she packed away her things, recorded her result of 3 and a half hours and left the classroom.

Tick tick tick. Jasmine actually felt like she could hear her watch ticking as the minutes went by. She felt like she had been waiting for hours for something to happen. She yawned and looked at her plant again. OK, It was definitely time to start chanting again.

"Sowilo sowilo sowilo, u u u u u u u u u, s s s o o o l l l , ju ja ji je jo, us as is es is, j j j e e e r r r a a a , si se su sa su, u u u u u u , r r r r r r, s s s s s s s s s "

This was kind of like waiting to see something in the crystal ball in Divination class. Then just like in that class, Jasmine thought her eyes were deceiving her. The runes glowed more and was it her imagination or were the spots on her plant getting lighter? She wasn't sure, but she hoped that it was so. After a while Jasmine was sure that they were getting lighter and finally they were gone. Her plant looked good. Thank Merlin, at last. Jasmine looked at her watch. One hour and fifty nine minutes it took for the plant to heal. She sat down and finally exhaled.

Hopefully this wasn't going to take too long. Though with her runic skills it was probably going to take a long time. Ugh so what was she suppose to do while she waited? Play wizards chess? Read a book? No no. Diffidently not reading a book.

So all that was left to do was to sit, watch and wait. And wait. And wait. She looked up to get the time. Thirty minutes had gone by. What only thirty? Merlin this was going to rant forever. Maybe she could get a nice little nap in bedtime there was any changes. She closed her eyes. She actually really did start to nod off. She so wasn't going to get in trouble for sleeping, right?

Forty-five minutes later she jumped herself awake. Oh boy she had gotten quiet a nice nap. She took a good look at her plant. Nothing new it, looked just like it did an hour ago.

So what else to do what else to do?Oh? She had it. She knew what she was going to do. She pulled her sketch book. Now what to draw ? The plant maybe. She dug around looking for a pencil. Once she got it she started. Drawing her poor little plant. Pet, pet.

Soon or what seem like it was soon, drawing always made the time go by faster. But Cinna looked up and seen one of the spots disappear. Yessssss! That only took 2 hours and 45minutes of her day!!!!!

After Kace used the spell and chanted he waited for his other plant to be healed. It might take 30 minutes so he would check on that. He went back to doodling in his notebook. As he was doodling he began to think about his first plant. He check his watch and saw 2 hours were up. on his previous plant. He went over to check on it and saw that it healed! There was no white spots on the plant at all. Score one for Kace. He smiled and was doing a little happy dance. He wondered who other's were doing. He looked around and seemed to be chanting the spell like he was.

Now he needed to wait about 30 minutes for his other plant to heal give or take. So while he passed the time he doodled some more.

..... So uh, everyone was starting to leave slowly......


But... Zander's plant was still.... Not... Done? Or at least it looked completely the same as before. So what was he supposed to do? Just sit there and do a couple of more chants ? ? ? Maybe? Uhhh... How come no one really explained this stuff. Maybe plants saving was just meant for herbology. This was a sign.

"Sowilo sowilo sowilo, u u u u u u u u u, s s s o o o l l l, ju ja ji je jo, us as is es os, j j j e e e r r r a a a, si se su sa su, u u u u u u r r r r r r, s s s s s s s s s," the Gryffindor read off his notes as to not screw the chant up anymore than he had before. Maybe that was the problem? He wasn't saying it correctly... Maybe? So after a few more repetition and violent glowing coming from the braclet, he finally gave it a small break.

AND WOAAAAAH, was it actually starting to work? Or were his eyes just deceiving him?? No, no something was actually happening. His plant was actually-- the potion had actually-- the bracelet was doing something!!

Finally.

The spots!! They were GONE!!

It was like magic!! No-- WAIT, it WAS magic!! HA! This meant he could leave right? Taking that as a yes. Gryffindor packing his things now and wohooo!! This meant one thing: Food.

"Okay, everybody who successfully healed their plants and wrote down how long it took, great job." He lightly clapped for them, and for their patience. "We'll need to take those potted plants to the groundskeeper, drop them off by his hut." Botros smiled. "You all can go in groups, I'll be going with the final group." The one that was taking longer to heal their plants. "After that, you are dismissed and free to do as you please." Woot woot for them.

Relived that she had finally healed her plant, Jasmine waited to see if there was anything else that they had to do......and there was. Professor Botros informed the class that they would have to drop their plants off at the Groundskeeper's hut. Jasmine packed up her things and threw her bag over her shoulder. Then she picked up her plant carefully carried it toward the door. "See you next time Professor", Jasmine said on her way out of the classroom.

Okay, to the Groundskeeper's hut. Botros said they could go in groups, yes? He would go alone or just follow the students who were ready to go... So, after packing up his books (his text book had a little drool which had escaped his mouth after he had dozed off. YOU SAW NOTHING), quill and ink, he grabbed the plant.

His potted plant firmly clutched in his hands, he headed towards the door. "Bye, Professor,'' he said with a smile.

Inward groan..................

Not only was everyone finishing WAY before him, but they still had to go and take their plant places. Could he make a detour on the way to eat? The boy was STARVING. So much so in fact, that he could EAT the plant he was healing.

But of course, he'd survived the process, having made it to the end eventually. EVENTUALLY. He stared at Professor Botros for a short moment though, disbelieving. Well done? HOOOWWWW was waiting over five hours well done? Nope, the man was still insane, surely. But it was nice to not hear yelling or points deductions. "Thanks Professor, I'm just sorry it took so long... I think it was the chanting galdr thing, the words," were they even words? surely not, "they just... didn't want to come properly, it's like a tongue twister." Yeah, hence the fail.

Once he had his things together, and his healed potted plant in hand, he left through the door ahead of the Professor, but he didn't rush... there was no point in rushing now. They could leisurely walk down the stairs, out the castle, across the grounds to the hut. Yeah. LONG way to go just for a plant.

"Not a problem..." Benny assured her. It wasn't like Botros was letting them really go anyway. They had to bring their plants to the groundskeeper's hut and Adi had already left. Might as well stay with Angel and make sure she didn't need any help in the long run. Not that the professor wouldn't be around to do just that. But he did have others who needed assistance like Zeke who seemed to be having a tough time with it.

Poor guy.

But alas, Angel's plant finally was free of what spots and Benny straightened up from his leaning position. Time to actually move. "Shall we..." he suggested, picking up his plant and waiting for his girlfriend to do the same so they could do the last step of the project. Giving these plants a good home on the grounds.

Angel smiled at Benny. "Yeah come on lets go." Angel was a bit worried about leaving the plant with anyone at Hogwarts this term was proving how much the school was miss Bentley, seriously she didn't let her plants get this ill and she wanted to know what the Professor was doing to harm the Plants. "I'm ready when you are." Angel picked up the plant ready to carry it away. Angel then went with Benny.

There was one good thing about this whole little lesson, AJ wasn't the last one done. Thank you Zeke for being a little worse that she was at Ancient Runes. That being said, there wasn't that many other students left after AJ was done. One of them was her very own sister. That was a surprise. She actually thought Angel would be better at this subject than she was.

No time to worry about that now because they could finally drop off their plant and LEAVE. Thank goodness too. AJ was bored and was in serious need of a sweet treat... or some chips. Chips actually sounded pretty dang good.

The lion lifted up her plant and walked out of the classroom. The the hut she went.

Class was finally over, and after two hours Lux had to admit she was pleased. It had been a really loooooong wait for her and there were times where she had almost drifted off while reading the textbook.

Getting up from her seat, she had a nice long stretch before putting her stuff away and throwing her bag over her shoulder. Grabbing her plant, she made for the exit. "Thanks for the lesson, Professor. See you next time."

and with that she was off to the hut.

As Kace was waiting for his other plant to be ready, he check his watch and realized 30 minutes were up. He smiled and he heard the professor say they needed to drop off the plants at the groundskeeper hut. He nodded and put his backpack over his shoulder and carried his two plants with him. He would say goodbye to the professor at the hut since he was gonna go with the last group. He went out the door and off to the hut he went. He hoped the groundskeeper appreciated the work he did for the plants,

Done? Done.

Toby had had all his stuff ready to shove in his bag for when class was dismissed, and when Botros gave them those further instructions he did just that. With everything packed away, Tobias picked up his healthy potted plant and left the room, headed for the groundskeeper's hut. On his way out he gave the professor a smile.

"Cool lesson, sir. See ya later."

And then he was gone.

Huh? So.... He couldn't go to the Great Hall quite yet? ?? But where the heck was he supposed to drop it off at? Yes the hut, but WHERE by the hut?

Taking the plant in his arms, Zander waved goodbye before heading out the door and looking for a group to join. "Goodbye, Professor!"

Ian had been trying to pour and chant. It was rather distracting to him that others were doing the same thing and so he had a good deal of trouble focusing on his own project. He kept at it however and soon, he began to see some results. The fact it had taken him nearly to the end of the instructional portion was a challenge. His plant still had some white spots on them, but it appeared the professor would be wrapping things up. He kept at it, for a wee bit longer. Perhaps he could get this done before heading to the groundskeeper's hut.
