Looking at the board again, Lux went over and over the chant, mouthing the words as she went. It would not be good to make a mistake, so memorizing was important. It was only when she was confident in her ability to say the spell correctly that she was ready to move on to the next part of the activity.

Galdrs could take a lot of effort, so Lux made sure to take a deep breath before starting to say hers. Focusing the hardest that she could on the spell that she was performing, she started pouring the potion into the soil. "sowilo sowilo sowilo, u u u u u u u u u, s s s o o o l l l, ju ja ji je jo, us as is es os, j j j e e e r r r a a a, si se su sa su, u u u u u u r r r r r r, s s s s s s s s s."

Her Runes were glowing!

EEEP!!

Lux watched them as she continued to chant the galdr and pour the potion. She was so happy that her spell was working.

Okay so now that he had practiced, it meant it was time to finally get going with the whole shabang. This would have to go pretty slowly just in case. That way he could concentrate really hard and lessen any chance of mistakes along the way. Taking the bracelet from his desk, he carefully slipped it onto his left wrist. Then he took the potion vial and held that in his left hand and held his wand in the right. Merlin, this would be kind of difficult. There was just so much to be done at once.

He then recited the chant one last time in his head for good measure before saying anything out loud. And here goes nothing.

Zander towered over his plant and slowly began to pour the potions contents onto it. "Sowilo sowilo sowilo, u u u u u u u u u, s s s o o o l l l, ju ja ji je jo, us as is es os, j j j e e e r r r a a a, si se su sa su, u u u u u u r r r r r r, s s s s s s s s s," and oooh, the runes were starting to glow. Taking a HUGE breath, he started once more. "Sowilo sowilo sowilo, u u u u u u u u u, s s s o o o l l l, ju ja ji je jo, us as is es os," AND BREATH "j j j e e e r r r a a a, si se su sa su, u u u u u u r r r r r r, s s s s s s s s s."

Okay, okay runes was kinda cool after all.

The time did feel like it passed a little quicker now Toby was focused on something else. Not a whole lot, because he wasn't, like, super super engrossed in his studying, but STILL quicker. He glanced up from his Ancient Runes textbook to check the plant again just as he turned a page, and-

!!!!!

HEALED. HEALTHY. PLANT.

At once, Toby abandoned the textbook which flopped onto the desk, closed, and lost him his page. It didn't matter though, because he could always find it again later. The Hufflepuff checked his watch and noted down the time, calculating that the potion had taken forty one minutes overall to work, give or take a few seconds.

Soooooooooo... he was done? Toby looked around the class to see how other people were doing, and sort of just... sat there, unsure of whether he should pack up his stuff yet.

Well, he had his new friend plant, so Toby was happy just sit with it for a little while, until Botros mentioned they could leave or something.

He'd gone over it, and over it, and now there was nothing left to do except actually DO THIS THING. He had his A game, he was sure of it.

Zeke adjusted his bracelet, and held his vial a short way above his plant's soil. Here went nothing. "Sowilo sowilo sowilo, u u u u u u u u u, s s s o o o l l l, ju ja ji je jo, us as is es os, j j j e e e r r r a a a, si se su sa su, u u u u u u r r r r r r, s s s s s s s s s," he chanted with a clear voice, though, he did have to take pauses to breathe and to make sure he was reading this right. He also checked to make sure his runes were glowing, but eventually the spell was done and he had poured the potion over his plants soil successful. Now he had to see HOW successful he was.

Zeke sat and pulled his pot a little closer, resting his chin in his palms as he waited for things to CHANGE.

White spots, be gone!

The wait was the worst, especially since it wasn't just a set time. Benny had taken his seat and reopened his textbook for some sort of thing to do while he watched and waited for any changes, his gaze swiping to his hopefully healing plant every few minutes. Nothing. At least nothing instantly noticed at first. The Gryffindor would then go back to his browsing, trying with all his might not to be concerned or allow his mind to wander too much. Who knew where it would go then.

Slowly the time crept by and as an hour came Benny had noticed the changes beginning causing some relief. He wasn't a total failure in runes, nor an absolute beginner. Yet still his foliage charge wasn't completely ready to be deemed healthy so the fourth year continued his vigil. It wasn't until about little more than two hours had passed and he was starting to get bored that he had looked back at the plant and it had seemed completely well. The young man getting up from his seat and inspecting closer to make sure his eyes weren't missing anything.

Yep...he couldn't find any spots!

He quickly noted his and the plant's progress in his notes. 2 hours and 14 minutes he gathered give or take a few seconds or so as he glanced down at his watch that proved the passage of said time. Not bad...not bad at all.

Did the Professor know he wasn't very good at exercising patience?

Why couldn't he leave for a snack break and come back? He was BOUND to take longer than an hour anyway. It wasn't like he'd MISS anything critical.

Sigghhhh.

Opening his notebook, Zeke decided to do some drawing. He liked drawing. It was relaxing and kept his hands busy - his mind too. Every so often he popped his head up to inspect his plant. It WAS getting better. The white spots were starting to fade, and in some parts they were completely gone. Nevertheless, there was still a lot to wait for, so he continued drawing. Funnily enough, he was getting a lot of homework done right now ... that was productive at least, no?

After MOAR time passed, Zeke closed his notebook and placed it in his bag, and set his sights on his not-so-sick plant. It was better. Wait... it WAS better. He watched as the last of the spots faded completely, leaving the plant perfectly healthy looking.

HE DID IT!!!!

HOW LONG HAD IT BEEN?!...

And, where was everyone?

"I'm... finally done, Professor," he mused, trying not to seem too disappointed with his time. Boooooo. He'd failed. FAILED.

This was the sucky part of the activity, because it involved waiting and Lux wasn't always the most patient person. Oops. It was especially bad for her during this activity because there wasn't a set time.

What if she ended up waiting a million hours? Melodramatic, but it COULD happen.

Deciding to be productive instead of chatty and knowing that others were trying to work on their plants as well, she opened her textbook to get some more Ancient Runes knowledge because she sure needed it. Homework was the worst when it came to this class because she always had to look at the textbook a million times and sometimes ask for help on top of that. After every paragraph she would look at her plant to see if it was healthy.

It started slowly, but over time she DID notice a change in her plant. For the better at that. Awesome, so she hadn't accidentally poisoned it or something. BEAM. Maybe she was better at this Ancient Runes stuff than she gave herself credit. Feeling better about herself, she went back to reading the textbook while giving the occasional glance at her plant.

When she finally saw it completely healed, she looked at the clock and saw that it had taken her a liiiiiiittle over two hours. Not bad at all. She was very pleased with herself actually. Happily she recorded notes on how well the spell worked as well as how long it took her (two hours and four minutes).

So..... plants then.

There weren't many to choose from since Grayson, being Grayson, had somewhat procrastinated with this and ended up starting a little later than expected. Eh. It was whatever. He was just putting a lot into the hope that he wouldn't have to wait here for the full six hours or however long it could take. Not ready for that.

He did, however, spot a small pot plant with a bunch of white spots all over it so he took hold of that one before anyone else could. It was HIS. He needed something to work with, and all. And this one didn't look TOO bad. Dude wasn't entirely sure if the plant was meant to have so many spots all over it. Would THAT make it harder to make the runes glow and heal the plant?

Please say no.

Once back at his seat, Grayson placed the pot plant down on his desk but kept the vial in his right hand, which was the healing bracelet hand. There.

She had her plant, bracelet, and potion. Now if only she could get this little chant to work, she would be in business. for just a moment AJ closed her mind and thought about nothing but healing this plant. Slowly but surely the white spots were fading away. The lion opened her eyes. Now to get that to work in real life.

AJ eyes her plant. "You have to want to be healed," she whispered. The plant needed to work with her, not against her. Her bracelet was on her right arm, so she grabbed the vial containing her potion with her right hand. Here goes nothing...

The potion was slowly oozing out of her vial. "sowilo sowilo sowilo, u u u u u u u u u, s s s o o o l l l, ju ja ji je jo, us as is es os, j j j e e e r r r a a a, si se su sa su, u u u u u u r r r r r r, s s s s s s s s s" Just the right amount of U's, R's, and S's were used. Hopefully this wouldn't take all day.

So what did he need to do before he went ahead and chanted the galdr?

Practice.

Practice made perfect and all and he kinda wanted to get this done perfectly. he did, however, look over his bracelet, especially at the Sowilo carvings there. The great thing about the carving had been that Sowilo had gotten easier and easier to carve over time. MAYBE that would be an indication as to how easy it was gonna be to get the runes to glow.

Jeez, he needed to stop thinking about this.

Shaking his head, Grayson placed the vial down and started chanting to himself. No intention. None of that. Just plain practice. "Sowilo sowilo sowilo..... u u u u u u u u u........ s s s o o o l l l........ ju ja ji je jo........ us as is es os......... j j j e e e r r r a a a.......... si se su sa su............ u u u u u u r r r r r r.......... s s s s s s s s s........" HISS HISS!

HISSSSSSSSSSSSS!

This was a fun rune to practice. "Sowilo sowilo sowilo..... u u u u u u u u u........ s s s o o o l l l........ ju ja ji je jo........ us as is es os......... j j j e e e r r r a a a.......... si se su sa su............ u u u u u u r r r r r r.......... s s s s s s s s s........" Lots of practice and chanting going on. This was one of the easiest parts by far.

Potion was flowing, chants were being chanted, and her plant wasn't looking any better. We're talking the same amount of white spots were there. Her heart was starting to sink a little. This was not how she imagined this thing going. AJ checked, and sure enough her little runes were glowing. Hmm... maybe she just needed to try this little thing called patience. That was something that she definitely wasn't good at.

Before long all of the potion was gone. More chanting, that should help. It surely couldn't hurt. "Sowilo sowilo sowilo, u u u u u u u u u, s s s o o o l l l, ju ja ji je jo, us as is es os, j j j e e e r r r a a a, si se su sa su, u u u u u u r r r r r r, s s s s s s s s s" More concentrating happened.

Tick tock, tick tock. Was it just her or was these minutes passing by so slowly." As much as AJ didn't want to, she had to take note of the time so that she would know how long it took her to get this right. That was going to be just great for her mood.

Jasmine was furiously writing notes and trying to keep up with the instructions for making a Healing bracelet. The very idea was fascinating and she was anxious to get started. Jasmine walked up to the box and got a bronze bracelet to work with. Then she returned to her seat and took out her wand. First though, she took a minute to practice saying the incantation. "In-ta-leo, In-ta-leo, In-ta-leo" That seemed pretty straightforward and Jasmine figured that she was ready to give it a go.

Taking the bracelet in her hand, Jasmine tried to concentrate on the task at hand. She focused on what he wanted to happen.........very clear intention, right. Raising her wand, she pointed at the bracelet and began to speak. "Intaglio Sowilo Sowilo Sowilo Sowilo Sowilo Sowilo" it took her several repetitions, but finally the rune was carved into her bracelet. She would try to concentrate harder on the next one.

Getting her mind focused, Jasmine began again. "Intaglio Uruz Uruz Uuz Uruz Uruz.". As the rune began to appear on the bracelet, Jasmine continued to chant. "Uruz Uruz " Fortunately, she did not need to repeat much more because the carving was complete. Next was Sowilo again so Jasmine adjusted her wand and continued. "Intaglio Sowilo Sowilo Sowilo Sowilo Sowilo." She must have had her very clear intention this time because the rune was carved in no time. Maybe he was starting to get the hang of this.

Jasmine tried to maintain her concentration and keep her roll going. Next up, Jera. As she began this one, she couldn't help but smile. It reminded her of the search for Sebastian in the last Ancient Runes class. "Intaglio Jera Jera Jera Jera Jera." Jasmine turned her bracelet and continued on the other side. "Intaglio Sowilo Sowilo Sowilo Sowilo Sowilo" "Intaglio Jera Jera Jera Jera Jera Jera" "Intaglio Sowilo Sowilo Sowilo Sowilo Sowilo" ""Intaglio Uruz Uruz Uruz Uruz Uruz Uruz" Jasmine was down to her final rune and her bracelet would be finished. She only had to maintain her concentration a little bit longer so she began. "Intaglio Sowilo Sowilo Sowilo Sowilo Sowilo Sowilo" At last the bracelet was done. Jasmine breathed a sigh of relief and let her mind relax for a moment.

After Ian grabbed the vial, he remembered he was supposed to be wearing the bracelet AND picking the vial up with that hand. He sighed and walked back up to the potion batch. He slid the bracelet on his right wrist and poured the potion back in the batch. He cleaned out the vial and started again. Holding the vial in his right hand, he poured more potion in and walked back to his area, grabbing a rough looking plant on the way with his left hand. He set the vial in the stand he had placed there and set the plant before him, checking it out. It was a sad looking plant and Ian decided to name it Charlie Brown. He reviewed his notes once again.

The chanting had continued and continued until Grayson became tired of hearing his own voice.

Which was kinda saying something.

Once he was sure he was ready, the fifth year took hold of the vial in his right hand again and furrowed his eyebrows in concentration. Unlike the practice, intent was needed in this. He needed to be determined or whatever to be sure that he wanted the plant to heal itself and get rid of the white spots. Deep breaths. Show the plant who's BOSS.

"Sowilo sowilo sowilo..... u u u u u u u u u........ s s s o o o l l l........ ju ja ji je jo........ us as is es os......... j j j e e e r r r a a a.......... si se su sa su............ u u u u u u r r r r r r.......... s s s s s s s s s........" he chanted while pouring the potion onto the plant's soil. he was pouring slowly, too, because something was telling him that if he flung everything in the potion onto the soil, this wouldn't work. Eyes, however, kept darting back to different parts of the plant to see if the spots were disappearing.

No?

MORE chanting, then.

"Sowilo sowilo sowilo..... u u u u u u u u u........ s s s o o o l l l........ ju ja ji je jo........ us as is es os......... j j j e e e r r r a a a.......... si se su sa su............ u u u u u u r r r r r r.......... s s s s s s s s s........" Deep breath. Come ON, plant. "Sowilo sowilo sowilo..... u u u u u u u u u........ s s s o o o l l l........ ju ja ji je jo........ us as is es os......... j j j e e e r r r a a a.......... si se su sa su............ u u u u u u r r r r r r.......... s s s s s s s s s........"

Chant chant chant.

And so the waiting commenced.

Adi stared at the plant blankly for about five minutes before getting bored. For another five minutes, he looked around the classroom watching his classmates work. But then he got bored of that too because like him, most of them were also waiting.

The Hufflepuff took one more look at his plant and his watch. Only ten minutes had passed and the plant showed no signs of improvement. Hmph. His will and intent had been present when he poured that purple potion and chanted so hopefully it wouldn't take long to heal.

He flicked through his Runes text book to pass the time. It was like that saying "killing two birds with one stone". While he waited, he could improve his Ancient Runes knowledge a bit.

An hour later found Adi resting his head on the desk, almost fully dozed off. Already he was having a dream about flying on a Hippogriff but something had gone wrong and he was off of the Griff's back, falling...

Adi sat up suddenly, blinking rapidly as he looked around. Oh! He hadn't actually been tumbling through the air. He was in the Runes classroom. Everything came rushing back to him as he eyed his plant.

Hey! Spots were vanishing! There were certainly less than what the plant had started out with. Woot! So far seventy minutes had elapsed. The boy focused totally on the plant. Slowly but surely it was being healed.

Half an hour later, ALLLLLL the spots were gone. Awesomeeee! It only took a hundred minutes. Not bad at all.

More notes were taken and then it was time for the the big activity. Jasmine went up to the front of the room and got an empty vial. Then she took the bottle of potion and carefully filled her vial with the purple liquid. Now she needed a plant. Walking by the groups of pots, Jasmine found a sickly plant that seemed to be calling her name. Looking at the spots on its leaves, she remembered Herbology and tried to diagnose its illness.

Plant in hand, Jasmine walked back to her seat. She set the plant down and placed her bracelet on her wrist. She felt pretty proud of her rune carving effort and hoped that the bracelet would work well. It was time to get focused and Jasmine closed her eyes. She concentrated on generating positive energy and thought about healing. She pictured her little plant with nice green leaves, stong and healthy. At last, she opened her eyes and felt ready to begin.

The chanting continued yet again.

This time, he was completely focused and intent on trying to heal the plant, which wasn't freaking budging. JEEZ. Grayson glanced over at the watch and deadpanned. Twenty minutes had passed so far and still: nothing. What in the name of Merlin? It was getting everything it needed: the potion, the runic chanting, all of that jazz. So why was it taking so long? He WAS showing the plant who's boss. Really.

The good sign? Look at the runes on his bracelet! MAN! Look at the GLOWING! It was faint, sure, but it was glowing. Thank Merlin!

Chanting. More chanting.

"Sowilo sowilo sowilo..... u u u u u u u u u........ s s s o o o l l l........ ju ja ji je jo........ us as is es os......... j j j e e e r r r a a a.......... si se su sa su............ u u u u u u r r r r r r.......... s s s s s s s s s........"

How long had passed? Twenty five minutes? So he was nearing the one hour mark, then? GOOD. That was better than nothing, at least. And hopefully, this would be a sign that things were gonna change sometime soon. That the spots would disappear before long and the plants would be healed once more and maybe, just maybe, he could go and get some food. He had a funny feeling that he was gonna start to get hungry before long.

Yeahhhhhhh................ he was hungry. And his patience was starting to grow thin because of how hungry he was starting to get. Thoughts about food floated around in his brain as he continued chanting the galdr. Long. This was long. And food was practically calling his name. What would happen if he DID have to stay here for the whole six hours? Would Botros end up coming for them or what? Come to check in? What if he ended up missing out on a lesson?

The last one didn't matter as long as he wasn't missing out on a cool lesson.

The clock ticked on and the chanting contin--

HOLD UP.

HOLD THE FREAKING PHONE.

Look at the leaves! Look at the white spots!

Oh WAIT. WHAT white spots?

Chuffed. Grayson was well chuffed to see the spots disappearing. Sure, they still had a bit of time to go to make it disappear fully but it was a sign that things were looking up and he was glad about that. What was more, the rune was starting to glow more and more brightly and the plant was looking MUCH healthier now. Brilliant.

The REAL victory came once he was sure that the last white spot -- beneath a pesky leaf -- had disappeared. JEEZ. That had taken a long time, hadn't it? How long? A glance over at the watch told him that it was about two hours and five minutes. Two. Hours. TWO. HOURS! He deserved a medal for that. Really.

Waiting, she was still waiting. Her runes were glowing, and her potion was in the soil. AJ even chanted more times than was probably necessary and she was still waiting. She chanced a glance at her watch. Two whole hours had already gone by? Goodness... this meant that she was bad at runes, right? Which was something that she pretty much already knew, but to have it pointed out like that was sort of a slap to the face.

One more little chant for good luck wouldn't hurt. AJ cleared her throat and practically shouted the chant at the tree. C'mon, tree... you can do better than that.

"Sowilo sowilo sowilo, u u u u u u u u u, s s s o o o l l l, ju ja ji je jo, us as is es os, j j j e e e r r r a a a, si se su sa su, u u u u u u r r r r r r, s s s s s s s s s."

Her watch confirmed that another hour had come and gone. Man, this was starting to get a bit depressing.

Wait a minute... were some of the white spots actually starting to fade? Her eyes lit up and hope was there once more. She could do this. Even if she managed to to be the last one here-- oh no, that couldn't happen right? AJ eyed the first years. What if she was even worse than them? A lot of people had already finished and here she was still struggling.

The four hour mark hit. Things were happening though, and she tried to remain hopeful. Before her very eyes the plant was all healed. There wasn't a white spot in sight. She had done it, and it only took her four hours and thirty minutes.

Angel was totally happy about everything and now it was time to make the potion flow. "This was going to be really strange and she was really afraid something bad would happen when she started to do the chanting.

"Sowilo sowilo sowilo..... u u u u u u u u u........ s s s o o o l l l........ ju ja ji je jo........ us as is es os......... j j j e e e r r r a a a.......... si se su sa su............ u u u u u u r r r r r r.......... s s s s s s s s s........" Angel started to chant as she looked at the plant she was going to make this plant very well and then she would tell everyone about how bad the Professors have been treating them badly.

Given he was all done and everyone's seemed to be leaving on their own, Benny took it to mean he could leave if he wanted to. He cleaned up his work area, grabbing his belongings and returned them to his bag, slipping his bracelet off his rest on a final thought. It had done its job so surely it was finished with for now as well. It was now in a safe place in his bag as well in case it was needed for whatever task they might need to do for homework.

The fourth year looked around to see who was left, spotting Adi already gone it appeared. AJ seemed content in her work so he wandered over to Angel to wait for her to be done as well.

Angel was not doing very well at all, she was chanting but nothing seemed to be happing the poor plant would have been better getting help of someone else, she saw that Benny was done and he came over to her which was nice.

"Sowilo sowilo sowilo..... u u u u u u u u u........ s s s o o o l l l........ ju ja ji je jo........ us as is es os......... j j j e e e r r r a a a.......... si se su sa su............ u u u u u u r r r r r r.......... s s s s s s s s s........" Angel chatted some more as she looked at the plant.

Deep breaths Angel, keep trying.

""Sowilo sowilo sowilo..... u u u u u u u u u........ s s s o o o l l l........ ju ja ji je jo........ us as is es os......... j j j e e e r r r a a a.......... si se su sa su............ u u u u u u r r r r r r.......... s s s s s s s s s........" Angel looked at the clock over 4 hours had gone and she wasn't doing well but at least the plant was getting there. "Don't worry little guy I'll save you."

Angel wondered what Benny thought of all this, it was taking her ages, she saw her sister finish this was great.

""Sowilo sowilo sowilo..... u u u u u u u u u........ s s s o o o l l l........ ju ja ji je jo........ us as is es os......... j j j e e e r r r a a a.......... si se su sa su............ u u u u u u r r r r r r.......... s s s s s s s s s........" Angel chanted making sure that she was doing her best and she was focused on it.

It was working, she could see the plant getting better and she beamed, it had been nearly 5 hours she was sure the Professor was going to tell her off for taking so long.

"Sorry for making you wait Benny." Angel sighed, as she looked at him... was he mad at her.

Jasmine figured she had better practice the Galdr before she did it for real. Now that her mind was right, she needed her chant to be perfect. Jasmine looked at the board taking note of what was written there. Then she began to practice softly.

"Sowilo sowilo sowilo, u u u u u u u u u, s s s o o o l l l, ju ja ji je jo, us as is es os, j j j e e e r r r a a a, si se su sa su, u u u u u u r r r r r r, s s s s s s s s s"

That was going to be a tricky. Nothing was hard by itself, but remembering the whole thing and putting it all together correctly was going to be a challenge. It would not be good to peek at the board while tring to maintain concentration and chanting, but Jasmine just might have to do it. She couldn't take a chance on getting the whole thing wrong. That would be bad.

Practice completed, Jasmine went back to focusing her mind on healing the plant. She kept concentrating and when she felt that she was back in the zone, she picked up her wand. It was time to do this thing......for real.

After finishing up with the carving, which took a bit longer than Gabriel had anticipated.....it was time to mess with these plants. Plants. He really wasn't a fan of plants. Theory, sure
..but no one could accuse him of having a green thumb.

.........Anyway.

Moving to the front of the room, he carefully selected a potion vial and toted it towards the bottle of whatever concoction Professor Culloden had worked up. He had complete faith in the potion's master...It would work if he had a hand in it. See, there was some confidence. Sure, it was for someone else's work...but still, the emotion was there.

Gabe had already slipped the bangle on his right wrist. It wasn't very boyish looking.....but everyone was having to wear them, so...it could've been worse? He flushed regardless and filled the vial, holding it with the bangled hand and pouring with the left. Did it matter at this stage? Gabe wasn't sure but whatever.

After claiming one of the sickly looking plants, he glanced the blackboard again.

Chanting.

Uh.

Listening to the Professor, Clara became increasingly anxious.

She didn't want to do badly in this class and she feared that her bronze bracelet was sub par, which would result in her doing so. While she was good with drawing and memorising runes, something about Ancient Runes just didn't click with her and that very obviously reflected in her work.

Nonetheless, Clara proceeded to place the bracelet around her wrist and step up to the front and take a vial. Ignoring everyone else, because they only added to the pressure, she carefully poured the potion into the vial. That, at least, she could do without any trouble. She also claimed a potted plant and returned to her seat.

Gabe was trying to approach the activity in a logical fashion. Chant and pour; simple as that....The runes he'd diligently craved on the bronze bangle would light up if it was working.....So, there wouldn't be any guess work? Isn't that what that meant?

Making sure to hold the potion vial tightly in his right hand, he practiced the chant.....er, spell.
