Post #1: SNAC + Willow sort of This. Was so. Freaking. BORING. No really, it was. Who even LIKED to stand outside in the cold looking for weird footprints and trying to decide what the animals were thinking and feeling because of them? He didn't want to do that. Not in the COLD. And as he searched around fruitlessly, he couldn't help but think back to the warm common room fireplace. MAN, he could have been sitting there with a mug of hot chocolate and blissfully ignorant or any and all homework he had to do. That was the life, man. But no. He was out here. Bent back and searching for freaking FOOTPRINTS. Even if it wasn't for the cold, Grayson might have actually liked the activity. Maybe. Professor Cassie -- who seemed like she had been the victim of a VERY powerful Cheering Charm -- had mentioned something about hot chocolate and cookies when they were done. That was ENOUGH motivation for this Slytherin to get on with te task at hand. Besides, the Divination Professor had even went ahead to praise him to the History of Magic Professor. Talk about a MAJOR ego boost! Okay. Whatever. He was searching for these footprints. ...................... And something was moving. And someone was screaming something about-- HOLY FREAKING MERLIN THE VIOLENT TREE WAS MOVING! Yes! YEEEEEEES! It was going to WALLOP somebody! Oh MAN, he should have brought some popcorn along! Or sweets! Because something like this was BOUND to cause a lot of drama. It would be an interesting turn of events. Uh huh. And therefore, he needed snacks for ultimate viewing pleasure. LOOOOOOOOOL! Look at people running around and trying to get away from the tree's branches. What did he get? Some snow! That was all. Snow that sobered his hair and face and part of his clothes. He was even MORE freezing, now but did he care? Okay, he did. A bit. A very tiny bit. |
SNAC 2 + anyone wanna claim the footprints? Zander was now not only extremely cold, but also covered in snow. Thanks to that stupid whomping willow. Hmph. Couldn't Hogwarts grow some normal trees or something? Please? Thanks. Either way, this meeting was turning out to be a total bust. Yep. Cookies? Definitely not worth it. After finally digging himself out of that wretched pile of snow, Zander moved as far away from the willow as he possibly could. The only problem? The snow it threw would cover up most of the tracks, if there even were any to begin with. So it just made this POINTLESS activity, even more POINTLESS than before, which is saying something because it was POINTLESS to begin with. Gah. He's only grumpy because he's cold. And wants another cookie. And he is also now accepting tea. Did anyone bring some to-go? Anyone? Anyone at all??? Back to the drawing board it is. Zander began "searching" for prints all over again. Except this time, with a new fresh layer of snow, it was proving to become even more challenging than before. Just then Zander noticed a few prints in the snow. Zander's eyes lit up as he thought he had found something important. Oooooh maybe he wouldn't fail divination after all! The boy began following what looked like A WHOLE TRAIL OF THEM! The prints were actually all pretty evident! Oooh maybe he'd catch up to the creature that they belonged too. Maybe Zander has "the eye" tooo, Professor! One by one, Zander began following the footprints, in search of a possible owner. Man, these things were huge. Well, not that huge. But definitely not raccoon material. MAYBE HE FOUND SOMETHING SUPER IMPORTANT! |
SNAC Post 3 Busy investigating Cinnamon's footprints, Lux was startled when someone started shouting about the Whomping Willow. What was going on here? Surely the tree was asleep now since it was winter and deciduous trees hibernated then. Looking up to see if this was some kind of joke, she gasped when she realized it was anything but. Quickly stepping back, she made sure that she was as far away from the tree as possible. The branches were moving around like mad and snow was getting everywhere. So many of the prints were getting covered. Was there much point in doing this anymore? As much as Lux liked Professor Morgan and wanted to help her, it just seemed pointless when the Whomping Willow was now awake and making life more difficult. Biting her lip, the Puff decided to have another shot at finding something, but wasn't sure if she would. |
Post 2 Alexa thought about trying to retrace her steps in the hope of finding some prints back there before she started stomping but then the swinging and the swishing of the whomping willow distracted her. Wonderful wasn't it? All those branches with the power to crush anyone that got too close. It didn't even occur to her that in the thrashing it'd covered more of the ground and it didn't matter because she wasn't finding anything anyway--technically. No thoughts to the crushed prints, they were behind her now, literally. By the time she finally pried her eyes away from the willow the ground was completely covered where she stood. The Gryffindor had two options: blame the tree or blame the snow and this snow wasn't doing itself any favours right about now so.......g'job snow, ruining the event. No point in continuing the search in this direction. 'Sides, everyone seemed to be having better luck over theeere. She'd have to wad all the way over there, wouldn't she? In this bone chilling cold that was seeping through her outer layers? Just how important were those footprints anyway? Would they lead her to a rabid chimaera one day? Highly doubted but she'd keep looking...just...over there. |
SNAC - Post 1 SNACanaitors? Well, that one was a new one for her. She tried to disguise a sniffle as she listened to what the professor told them that they needed to do. It was freezing outside and she shivered as she tried her best to pay attention. They were to hunt prints, and while that sounded like absolutely no fun on a good day, it was even less fun when the cold made your eyes tear up. Nevertheless she was the one who came to the meeting, and she was already here so she might as well at least try. Plus, she really wanted to get her palm read and find out about the unicorn in her future so she sucked it up. Once the professor gave them the clear to get going so headed off in a different direction than everybody else. She walked aimlessly around and she wasn't coming up with anything other than human footprints. AJ giggles when she thought about the response the professor would give her if she brought up the human footprints. She seemed pretty set on the animal ones that she most likely wouldn't find it very amusing at all. |
Sophie wasn't finding anything. Well, she WAS, but...it was only the tracks of her fellow students. BOO. She wasn't really in the mood to do schoolwork, so she was just absentmindedly strolling around. Footprint here, footprint there...tracks over there. WAIT. Tracks? TRACKS! Sophie didn't know why she was so excited to find the tracks. She wasn't even interested in animal tracks. But--tracks! "Professor?" she said aloud. "I think I found something." "Looks like bird tracks," she continued. "I thought they flew south for the winter..." |
Post 3 Unbelievable. Someone else yelling that they'd found something while the Gryffindor searched the floor like it might have been hiding chocolate. Had the snow gotten worse? She couldn't even tell anymore with the way it settled on her lashes, making her work harder if she wanted to see at all. How much longer would they be out here before they could head down to the kitchen for the hot chocolate like the Professor said? That was the only thing keeping her going at this point; the promise of hot chocolate when they were done. Though she supposed she could have gone down to the kitchen and gotten the elves to make her some without having to subject herself to this ridiculous cold. Something to remember next time. Just a ways off she could have been sure she saw something in the snow but it must have been the non-existent sun rays playing tricks on her through the thick snow clouds above. The point was, she was disappointed. All this searching and still nothing. Was it possible for her to go stand next to someone else and have them agree they found it together? Lex was all for that idea if it got her out of searching. Now let's see who'd already found one but hadn't shown it to the Professor. Truly selfish people these were, hogging all the prints when it was so cold. Had they no hearts? Had they no stomachs???? Simply ridiculous. |
Zander As much as Nessa adored Cassie and enjoyed the divine art of Divination, she wasn't the biggest fan of the cold. Not that she would mind a normal winter - her snow boots were the cutest and she did have such a stylish winter coat. But even as bundled up as she was, with her fluffy purple hat, gloves, and scarf, this was like Arctic circle winter. And she was just sure that any of her exposed skin would soon be frostbitten. Still, the promise of hot chocolate in the near future and her desire to read animal prints kept her outside for a little while longer. If only she could actually find some prints though! Some of the students were having such good luck, but the snow was falling so heavy that everywhere she looked was completely covered. Maybe she should look where the students were looking. Nessa started following a handful of students to see what they were finding. Really all that she could see were other people's shoe prints. Well.. they were technically animals, she giggled to herself at the thought, but perhaps not what Cassie intended. Oh.. jumping jacks! That was the perfect idea! That would help to keep her and all of them warm. She had just turned around to look at Cassie and to step away from the group of students to do her own jumping jacks when she noticed a boy following her. "Oh.. hello.." um... "Zander!" That was it, right? She pictured his performance in her head.. yep, that was him. "Care to do some jumping jacks," she asked, her voice muffled through the scarf over her mouth and nose. She was beaming at him though he wouldn't have been able to see, then stepped a bit away to start doing jumping jacks. Great way to take a break to warm up! |
Stopping for a moment the Willow felt the snow falling on it once more. It was coming down hard enough that it only took moments to cover it's many branches. The wind picked up and the freezing cold made the tree shiver sending the snow flying once more to the ground covering students and prints below. Sensing the movement around it, the willow threw it's branches around slamming into the snow covered ground. |
SNAC Post #2 Quote:
"Ah it covered my prints!!" Thanks Mr.Willow!! Another scream escaped her as the Willow decided it wanted to smack itself around on the ground like it was throwing a tantrum. |

Looking around she grinned, "You did?" Looking down at the print, that was great, but her health was way more important right now. "Don't worry about the print at the moment. Professor Glendower is doing jumping jacks to warm, do you think you would want to try those or do you think you might need to go to the healer?" Could the girl have frost bite, she looked around for signs. "Professor Glendower, if Angel could do some jumping jacks with you if she wants that would be great or maybe if you could help escort her to the healer if she feels she needs to go." Though she was going to leave it to the girl on which she wanted to try. Quote:

"EVERYONE please be careful of the tree. I know you are all aware of it's branches, but it seems extra cranky today with all this snow. Professor Glendower is doing jumping jacks to warm up if anyone would like to jo.." She didn't finish her sentence before more snow hit her in the face. Merlin the tree had some good aim. Whipping her face off once more she really felt the sting of her redden cheeks. |
SNAC Post 1 + willow Wrapped up in her warmest clothes, Penelope still felt really cold. Her whole body felt like she was slowly freezing and would soon an ice sculpture. A few places that were exposed on her face were even more frozen, and could get frostbite. It did not help that the Californian girl was used to warm, sunny days every day, even in winter. Most of her clothes were not made for this kind of weather. The half frozen girl attempted to look for animal prints. Was that a print? [b]"I think I found something."[/] Fresh snow from the whomping willow covered the ground where she had been looking. She wasn't that close to the tree, was she? Looking up she could see the branches coming down, but she was literally frozen to the spot where she was standing. The branches knocked her down, leaving a mark in the snow that resembled a snow angel. This print was not a snow angel, but more of a snow-covered Penelope. |
Text Cut: Professor and Penelope Arista grinned okay fine maybe it wasn't a ferret but wasn't it a much better story if it was a ferret, just a city ferret living in a cold world took the snowy route going anywhere!! Now that sounded cool!! She gave the Professor a smile for helping her and couldn't help but giggle as Professor Morgan was shocked at her screams. It wasn't her fault the tree had scared the living daylights out of her. Oh yes it happens, no that tree did it on purpose. She picked up some snow and threw it back at the tree. Haha take that Whomping Willow!! Seeing Penelope get knocked down and was completely covered in snow she ran over to her and uncovered her and grabbed hold of her. "Penelope are you okay??" She asked as she wrapped her arms around her she was probalbly freezing to death being under all the snow!! |
SNAC Post #1 sorry so small. Sophie gave quite a few giggles at every one looking for prints and being pelted by snow and then the girl being hit by the tree really got her. She decided that she too needed to find some prints so she turned her head and tried to find some. None here. None there. None over there. THEY HAD TAKEN THEM ALL!!!??? She grimaced, that's what she got for laughing so hard. |

Angel suddenly saw the Professor and went over to them before starting doing the jumping jacks, she was feeling a bit warmer once she started but she still felt cold. "Ar....are w...we going I...in soon?" Angel really hoped the answer was yes because then she could have a nice cup of hot coco or something, if she had known it would be this bad she would have brought a hot water bottle with her. |
Post 2
" "Good... good dear, now remember what we talked about?" She said as she moved closer to the Gryffindor. "Check the prints to see what you can come up with. How do you feel the animal was when it made this print?" She was being encouraging and trying to get the young student to look and give some thoughts onto the print. Was it more front or back heavy? What did that mean? Lucy was quieter now that the Whomping Willow had calmed down! "Professor I can try..the prints of the hind legs seem deeper than the front and the footprint of the right leg is more forward than the left..The fox probably is exit from the burrow and is going to hunt some small animal.." |
MORE SNOW! This was really making the willow a furious old tree. It's branches flung around shaking off the fresh coating. It had enough of the freezing branches and shivering trunk. The Willow had also had enough of the things moving around near it. Slamming a few more branches towards the ground as a warning to get away. |

So that's just what she did. The mental notes--not taking off her gloves in the cold. She got a really long, hard look at the tracks and thought to herself: - Bird tracks - They're really random, like the bird was just turning around and around and didn't know where to go. - The bird could have been under attack from a larger predator and was scrambling trying to get away. - It may have also been chasing food, but I doubt it, because the food would have been smaller than the bird. The bird wouldn't have had to turn around so much to catch it. Quote:
"Professor?" she said, looking up at the woman again. Well, really either professor. "I think we've made the tree mad..." Can we...you know...GO? |
Post # 3 + Whomping Willow Quote:
"Professor, could . . . could there have been more than one animal?" He asked, getting back on his feet, his whole body shivering as a gush of wind swept past them. And if that wasn't cold enough, the Whomping Willow took it upon itself to bombard them with fresh snow while viciously trying to knock someone over. A blanket of snow now covered the tracks he'd been investigating, rendering them more or less useless. Great. More snow, more biting cold. Just what he needed. Creepy how the Whomping Willow read his thoughts and flung a bucketful of snow in his direction. Okay, that's it. "Professor, I reckon . . . I reckon the tree doesn't like*ACHOOOASDFGHK* . . . us." He blinked at Professor Morgan, and sneezed some more. |
Post 5 whomping Willow Keeping a close eye on the Whomping Willow's swinging branches, Cris tried to look for more animal prints in the snow. But it was getting harder, with more snow falling on the ground...both from the sky and from the Willow as it shook off the snow falling on it. Not only was the snow covering the animal tracks but if he has noticed that some of them had been trampled on by prints that looked like they came from human shoes. But just as Cris was about to give up looking, he spotted another set of animal prints in the snow a couple of feet ahead of him. He was making his way towards it when... ....BAM!! he first felt the ground shake as something hit it with great force. Cris turned to see what has caused it when.... BAM!!! something came flying down right in front of him and flattened the ground where he had seen the animal tracks. Cris' first thoughts were, there goes the prints. But they were immediately forgotten when he realized what had landed on the snow. It was one of the Whomping Willow's huge branches and as it lifted back upwards, Cris quickly dashed away from it. ....because as everyone knows, what goes up will come down...again!! |
SNAC - Post 2 Holy cow! Did that tree just wallop the ground? So the rumors were true about this tree. How cool was that. For a moment AJ forgot about what it was that she was supposed to be doing, and instead she stared at the tree and shook snow out of her face that fell on her from the force. This was too awesome. She was pretty sure that the impact would smash her into a pancake. This sounded like a fun game. Keep away from the mad tree. AJ hopped along while keeping a close eye on the willow. Would she be able to move out of the way when it came? Totally. She was AJ Valentine, and there wasn't anything that she couldn't do. Hop, hop, hop. Still the tree didn't move. Boring. Was it just showing off? Deciding to look for more prints the first year did jumping jacks in a circle to keep warm while keeping her eyes peeled for any tracts. She was still not finding anything. This was a waste of time. Was anybody finding any tracts? Did animals even stay around in this kind of cold? |
SNAC- post 4 Angel was watching her twin taunt the whopping willow and she was shaking her head, though it was hurting a bit now. "Pr...ACHOOOOOOOOO!" Angel couldn't help it she was cold and hungry and now she was frightened, she was still doing the jumping jacks but they weren't working very well. "Pr...o...prof...professor, can... w....we g...g...go to t...the cas...ACHOOO!!!! castle n...now?" Angel was feeling really scared and she wished there was a Professor with sense here because that big nasty tree was trying to kill them all and wanted them to leave. |
SNAC 3+ professor Glendower SPOILER!!: Professor Glendower *glomps you* The footprints were starting to get closer and closer together! He was hot on the trail. It's a matter of time before he discovers the insane creature that had the prints. They didn't look like paws... Or hooves... THEY WERE SUPER COOL! Maybe they belonged to some insane undiscovered species or something! Forget divination, THIS IS A SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERY!! Before he was able to go any further however, the prints stopped. AWH why?! Instead, he discovered a pair of... legs? O___o and not just any legs, Professor legs! Zander looked up at her with wide eyes. "Oh, uhm, hi Professor," Where did the prints go though!? THEY WERE RIGHT THERE! and then they were not? How is that even possible!? .... Jumping jacks? Zander raised a single eyebrow in question of the act. Uh. He had more important scientific discoveries to do, DUUUUUUUUH. But meh. The discovering could wait. It's freezing out here. And the snow that was thrown upon him earlier was definitely not helping a bit... So okay yeah jumping jacks. "Uh, I guess so. As long as Professor... Professor..." What was her name again? Why are there so many dang professors around here. Oh yeahh! "Morgan, doesn't mind." And he wasted no time starting to jump because heat. is. needed. pronto. |
SMAC - Post 4 Well, this wasn't working out. Lux was a total fail at finding footprints, but at least she wasn't the only one. The Whomping Willow going mad was quite the distraction, and the tree seemed to be getting madder and madder. Yeah, this wasn't going to be a very productive meeting for her. Deciding that she might as well have some real fun while turning into an ice cube, Lux headed further away from the crazy branches of the tree. Rolling some snow along the ground so that it became a big ball, she sung 'Do You Want to Build a Snowman?' to herself. |
post 3 Lucy was cold and now she was also worried about the Whomping Willow.. She thought:"But the ability to interpret the behavior of animals grows or decreases with the fear?!?!"... |
