As is per usual, Transfiguration class is one of the first lessons for the day. Yes, bright and early. Of course your professor doesn't wish to hear any complaints or see any yawning because you should all just be used to it by now.
When you enter the classroom, you notice that the desk and chairs are all neatly lined to the sides. The windows that would normally be wide open for the crisp morning breeze to wave through are closed and Professor Bellaire is standing by her desk waiting, wand in hand and scowl in place.
Sophie watched as, one by one, all the people who hadn't followed directions were reprimanded in their own ways. She was quite relieved when Bellaire spared the cuties who offered hugs, but she shot a remorseful sort of look to Kace. To be fair, he should have known better. Ah, well. At least Ravenclaw had gotten off easy.
Replicating snow clouds? That sounded pretty cool. She wasn't sure how they could use this in the future, but maybe that was why this subject went over her head. She just didn't get it sometimes. She let the small, content sort of smile stay on her face, though, that had been there since she greeted Bellaire, and had no questions. Well, she did, but she wasn't going to ask. No. Best to stay quiet and not draw attention to herself.
Well seemed like even not talking earned you negative points. No win situation here. But at least Nigel got off lightly so far. Only his hair was suffering. His poor hair.
Now that all that business was over with and Nigel determined at to say anything for the remainder of the class. The topic was very interesting. Weather-Modifying Charms were some serious magic, like Bellaire said. Questions, Nigel did not have any at the moment. Only thing he wanted to know was how this related to Transfig spells and that Nigel assumed is what she would explain next.

And THAT boy had to do with it. Something had to be done about this. SOMETHING. She would make SURE he got those points back. He HAD to. Beverly Wayne was incredibly stingy when it came to house points and UGH. She wanted the House Cup. Unfortunately she couldn't do anything about it right now or risk losing more points, so she just settled for jotting down notes.
Glancing up, she shook her head to let professor Bellaire know she didn't have any questions. Nope. None at the moment.

"Today we'll be replicating snow clouds. To achieve this we will be using the Weather-Modifying Charms. Now the weather modifying charms are a group of charms that are used to affect the weather in an area." As she spoke the words started appearing on the board behind her. And yes she expected them to take those notes down before leaving the classroom.
"However, as this is not charms class and due to the fact that these charms are highly regulated, I will be casting the first weather changing charm to set the ground work for the rest of you..." In other words she would be making their lives a whole lot easier and reducing the rest of someone seriously messing this up.
"Are there any questions before we proceed any further with this lesson?"
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!! No hugs?? Who didn't want hugs? Arista was appalled, her hugs were the best. She whispered, "Yes ma'am, just let me know if you change your mind." Just as she had claimed her spot she saw the Professor go nuts.... Points being taken away right and left... Her eyes widened. Note to self do not cross Professor Bellaire. She crazy!!!
Replicating snow clouds! That was so cool!! Oh yeah snow!! She loved snow! But how was this Transfiguration? She reached into her bag and lifted her leg up a bit trying to write down the notes. They were not the best notes but they would do she could re-write them down later. "So how is this charm transfiguration, is it because it is creating it..." She didn't no the difference between stuff so Professor would have to tell her!

Bree's eyes shot open as the professor slammed the door shut and took charge of her class. Bree felt a chill down her spine as the professor explained rules forcefully. It awakened her instantly. She listened as the professor explained they would be doing spells to create weather and if they had any questions. Bree thought for a moment and then raised her hand, "What kind of weather will we be making and are you gonna zap the proper garb on us for different weather conditions, if so warn a gal, it felt strange the last time a professor did it".

Kyroh understood the words sure but.... why? The claw wasn't about to ask though. Some adults were no questions, no hug type people like his grandfather. And so was Professor Bellaire clearly. Running over to a spot in the classroom, Kyroh stood up straight and pulled out a piece of parchment and a self inking quill. Even with the quill, writing while standing up wasn't exactly easy. And sure his parchment had some holes it in, but Kyroh had got the basics.

Questions!? His hand shot in the air of course. "How long do these charms last Miss Professor? Also, how do we know they'll be snow clouds and not rain clouds since it not that cold in here?" Kyroh knew zero about Transfiguration but if it used Charms.....he still knew zero about Charms so that didn't help too much.
All he knew was that he did not want to be rained on.

Kace was interested in this lesson now. But apparently this was gonna be a year long project. How much were they gonna do that it needed to be a year long project? But they were going to make snow clouds. He was liking this. The professor was gonna put a charm on the clouds and he wondered how that would work since it wasn't exactly cold in here and it wasn't exactly cold outside. But the ravenclaw before him asked the question he thought about and he didn't wanna repeat it. All the students needed to use Weather Modifying Charms and that should be cool. He just waited there quietly figuring out this lesson was gonna play out.
Professor Bellaire checked her watch, then pointed her wand at the door which slammed shut. It was locked so whoever was late, had to stay out.

Leah watched some serious point-takings from Professor Bellaire before the professor slammed the door shut. And what was wrong with those firsties? Seriously. Remember to say good morning, don't sit down, etc. That was a lot to remember.
Hmm. Since when was the professor's name Professor Wright-Bellaire? Though curious, Leah did not ask out loud. Ahem. A term project. Woo-hoo! It would be fun, if studying was ever fun for Leah. Still, she listened, and did something that she had never done before.
Taking notes. The second year grabbed her quill and journal from her desk and squinted up at the board, jotting down a few notes, still standing.

Alright! Transfiguration! This was a class Tora was good at, however intimidating Professor Bellaire might be. She made sure to remain standing, because Bellaire had not said to sit yet, and concentrated on the lesson at hand. Replicating snow-clouds sounded fun, but Tora didn't really get how they counted as Transfiguration. As the professor had already said, it was a weather charm that did that. Considering who the professor was, Tora knew she would find out soon enough and so didn't raise her hand when the Professor asked for questions. She didn't have any...right?

Bay didn't have any questions, he'd rather figure things out for himself then get yelled at by the Professor. What was going on with her right now? she wasn't like this last year? He thought it was best not to make eye contact and he made the notes that were on the board as well as any questions the students were asking.
Toby completely missed being eyed by Bellaire, as focused as he was on trying to keep his fidgeting to a minimum. Sophie got a little smile when she wandered over, but didnt dare to try and say anything because of Bellaire's infamous zero tolerance for, like, anything.
When stuff appeared on the board, Toby hurriedly rummaged through his bag for some parchment and a self-inking quill (he'd not been expecting to need to make notes with no desks, you see). When he'd found them, Toby began the process of trying to take notes from the information on the board whilst using his own knee as a sort of makeshift desk.
Questions? Nope. Not right now.

"Those are good questions Mr. Scabior. The weather charms last for a day or a little over that. The weather as you know changes daily and even more regularly than that, and because the charms are suppose to mimic the weather..the spell fades just as quickly. Bare in mind that the strength of the spell also factors in." Hmm..."Only you can determine weather not it snows or rains Kyroh. Perform the spell correctly and it will snow."

She eyed the lot of them.
"You will all receive a small Cumulus, which you are expected to transfigure into Cumulonimbus looking clouds." Another wave of her wands, saw clouds erupting from her wand tips and assigning themselves to each student." Because she wanted to be sure everyone was on the same page she asked the dreaded question.
"Does everyone understand? Is everyone clear on what I am asking you to do?"

Angel smiled at the Professor, thought she was fuming when could they sit down, surely there was something in the Geneva convention that stopped this form of torture many years ago, she would have to look it up and see because her little legs were hurting with all the standing they were doing but she daren't say anything because she didn't want to lose points.
Angel raised her hand. "Professor, charms you are adding things to the thing you are aiming at whilst in Transfiguration you are totally changing one thing into a new thing I think." Angel hoped she was right but now she wasn't so sure, it was all the pressure the Professor was putting on her, she was getting ready to break down into tears, what did the professor think, they were training for a game show and she desperately wanted to win.

O.O If she thought that AJ was going to know anymore about this lesson once it was over, then she was sadly mistaken. Really she just wanted to sit down, and she was willing to jot down notes for that, but nope. She was pretty sure that the professor needed a marshmallow peep because she was cranky and from experience food normally put the first year in a better mood.
Ummm... she didn't know the difference considering this was her first ever Transfiguration lesson and she had never been to Charms. Deciding that she would rather not hazard a guess with this professor she remained quiet.
Did she understand? Not at all. "Errr... what's a Cumulus professor?" She was going to need help in this class, she could feel it.

Ethan shifted his weight from one foot to another as he pondered on the question. The difference between Charms and Transfiguration. Well, he did observe the two discipline’s difference, and he hopes it’s the answer to Bellaire’s question. Hand up. “Professor, I think Charms would make a certain object or being to behave in a certain way. Whereas in Transfiguration, one completely transforms an object to an entirely different thing.” That’s why it’s called Transfiguration, right?
The Slytherin watched as the professor pointed her wand on the four corners of the room and made the air more cold. He fished his gloves out of his satchel and donned them…not that he’s not used to the weather, but something tells him he will be needing his hands warm to survive this class. Ethan then watched as a cloud hovered over him. It looked friendly…but he got the feeling that things will get messy in a bit.

Cutty gave a small nod. They were to transfigure the cumulus cloud into cumulonimbus. Sounded deceptively simple to Cutty. His hand went up as the Professor asked her question of the class, "The difference between charms and transfiguration lies mostly in the fact that with transfiguration you are altering some afore present state of something. That is, on a physical level, you're pulling something into existence, or taking it out of existence, by changing what it's made of in some way. This is in contrast to Charms, which do not alter what something is, although they may alter what something does." And Cutty knew which one sounded most useful to him.
The Slytherin twisted uncomfortably in his seat, immediately starting to feel the drop in temperature. Yeah, gloves. He had them in his bag. Should probably get them out now.

Jeez, this was a headache-worthy subject.
He could answer the question soooo the hand went up in the air. "I know that Charms makes an object do something it wouldn't normally do but you're not really changing its appearance or anything. Like you're not changing the object, say a watch, into a dragon. That's Transfiguration." Which. OKAY. He wouldn't be against learning. How to change something into a dragon. JUST SAYING.

Oh jeez. Oh NO. You know what this meant? They had to know the names of the different types of freaking clouds. That's what the fourth year was going to take from this, anyways. It was pretty cool that she had conjured clouds from her wand but they were just clouds. To Grayson, clouds weren't the most interesting of things. They were fluffy and made of water and sometimes, when too much water was in them, they rained. Or snowed. There wasn't much to know and he didn't care much about them.
Scowling, he pulled out his gloves from his bag and strapped them on before looking up again. Oh look! He had a cloud. He was a character from a cartoon where they had their own ominous cloud following them around everywhere. Here's hoping he wouldn't be followed by this little bugger today. How creepy would it be if he was trying to take a tinkle and there was a cloud looming above his head?

And he understood, or tried to understand, what the Professor was saying so Grayson nodded over at her.

The third year watched as Bellaire did her thing. He had retrieved his gloves form his pockets and had already pulled them on. More cold! Yep, he was a huge fan of the cold. He watched in fascination as a Cumulus cloud drifted towards each student. This was going to be cool! Adi understood what they had to do so he nodded.

Hayden watched as a cloud materialized itself from the professor's wand and stopped in front of her. Woah. Would she be able to do that? How advanced were these weather charms? She decided against asking the professor, who sort of scared her, and decided she'd have to look it up for herself later. Cumulowhatsit? She figured they were types of clouds, that made sense considering the context. The cumulus must be what the cloud in front of her started as, but how was she supposed to transfigure it if she didn't know what the other type looked like. She was about to ask when a young Gryffindor beat her to it. Good, she could just stay silent and listen. She didn't know the difference between charms and transfiguration either, she was just a first year how could she be expected to know that?

Zander took some quick notes as his Professor answered a couple questions. He could already tell that this was going to be an excruciatingly long lesson. Never was a real fan of transfiguration to begin with... Why was she so focused charms. Couldn't they just talk all about Transfiguration and that mumbo jumbo? Why'd they have to bring Charms into things. That makes it soooo confuuuusing. Hmphhhhh. "Transfiguration is generally considered more difficult than Charms," which made it much more complicated and not very fun. But he left that bit out. Didn't need any more house points taken away in this lesson.
Brrrrrr it's starting to get cold in here. Zander quickly grabbed his jumper and layered it on top of his shirt. Now what is a cumulus exactly? Oh. Was it this little cloud? But uhhhhhh...... What is a Cumulonimbus? It's a really big word, that much is clear. "Uh, Professor, what exactly is a cumum-ulion-onim-bus-es-s?" He tried. Ugh. He must sound like such a firstie. But someone's got to ask. That other lion had already asked about the Cumulus. Zander had just figured it was the clouds that had erupted from her wand. But what was this cumulonimbus thing was the real question. Cumulon-nimbus. Like the nimbus brooms? Or...?

So they were going to do a term-long project, like the similar one they had done last term for herbology. Or at least that was what he was thinking of in comparison. That could be cool if it had that creative outcome like the self-made topiaries that had come out of Bentley's class. However as the third year noticed the newcomers of the class such as Angel and Aubrey deal with the stricter sides of transfiguration, that thought went right out the window.
The coolness would only reply to the temperature.
The room growing colder by the moment as Professor Bellaire took control of the situation and Ben was glad for the mentioned gloves as he slipped them on. It was then that he saw the clouds in the classroom, one in particular floating towards him and him alone. Okay...maybe that was interesting...as long as it didn't rain on him.

The room got chilly as Professor Bellaire begin to change the weather and create clouds for each student. Jasmine was fascinated by this and watched the process with wide eyes.
When the Professor asked for the difference between Charms and Transfiguration, she was almost afraid to raise her hand. She did it anyway, hoping that she could make her answer sound coherent. "Charms make an object do something or cause something to happen to it. Transfiguration changes the appearance of an object.......changing one thing to another."
Having given her answer, Jasmine was looking forward to transfiguring her cloud.

Lucy said" I think that if an object is transfigured it changes its structure and if an object is enchanted with a charm it keeps its structural characteristics.

Another teacher calling him Mr. Scabior. Sigh. Though Professor Bellaire did make sense. Kyroh quickly wrote down her explanation in jot notes, poking more holes in his parchment. And THEN she was calling him Kyroh so it was all good!
Did he know the difference between charms and transfiguration? Nope. Could he guess? YUP. "Charms...is like spells that do stuff. And transfiguration....changes stuff?" Yeah? Transfiguration. To transfigure. To change. If THAT was wrong then Kyroh had no clue and he was alright with that because he was only guessing after all.

It was moments like this where Kyroh was glad that he had went to a Muggle school. He learned all about weather and clouds the year before! The cumulus one were basically like the cotton candy ones, and the cumulonimbus were the ones that made thunderstorms and stuff. So he had no problem with THAT. Just.....how were they going to transfigure one into the other, you know?

Thank Merlin, he brought his own. Frostbite on your fingers is not fun or having pink gloves. With one being worse than the other obviously.
