The Tower Patch

http://i969.photobucket.com/albums/a...towerpatch.jpg
At the top of the north tower some ways down from the Astronomy classroom is a large rooftop garden that has been expanded in memory of the late Marion Burbage, substitute professor of Astronomy. Lush green hedges and flower beds line the perimeter of the area and a large fountain greets you towards the opposite end. Located to the left of the fountain is a stone plaque engraved with words from the Headmistress herself which reads :

Rest in peace old friend, beloved wife, renowned stargazer, and special professor. Always in our hearts.

Beside this plaque lays another plaque placed in memory of another professor who gave their life while in service to Hogwarts. The plaque reads :

In Memory of E.M. Forrester, a brilliant space scientist, educator, and Slytherin Head of House. He will be missed.

Wooden benches and tables are scattered throughout the patch for students and professor alike to lounge, reflect on social events, complete homework tasks, and just generally hang out.

OOC: for more information on the events that took place in this thread, please read Term 32 of Hogwarts, a History & What in Merlin's Beard Term 32. For information on Professor Forrester please read here.

Pixie

What in the name of Merlin was he doing here? This was his fourth term at Hogwarts and he had never had a conversation with one of the Professor's about anything other than the subject they taught.

Michael shoved his hands into his pockets and rocked back and forth on his heels while he waited for Professor Flamsteed. He was glad that the man had agreed to meet here because he wouldn't have been able to have this conversation in the office.

He let out a long slow breath as he stared at the memorial plaques but not actually seeing them. He was starting to regret this already.

sweetpinkpixie 05-14-2014 03:23 AM

Alright, so, the professor had honestly meant what he had said to the Gryffindor. That he could come talk to the man about anything if wanted.

As long as that anything was about academics. Or Astronomy. Or science fiction. Or muggle things. Or...well...the list could go on for a bit, but he had already resolved that it was none of the topics that he was actually good at discussing. He was betting his galleons on it being something emotionally based and, well, this would be an interesting conversation.

Walking into the Tower Patch and spotting the young man, he slooooooooowly walked towards the fountain.

"Good day, Mr. Toussaint."

Mell 05-14-2014 10:16 AM

Michael turned at the sound of Professor Flamsteed's voice and he took in the man's slow walk and body language and he could tell that the man wanted to be here just about as much as he did.

This was going to be a rather interesting talk.

He took his hands out of his pockets and pointed at the plaques on the wall. "Didn't know Astronomy could be so dangerous." Just a little joke to ease the tension.

sweetpinkpixie 05-15-2014 03:14 PM

little bit of black humor there XD

Coming to a stop, Airey noticeably winced at the comment. Touched a bit of a nerve really and while he managed to keep his expression somewhat neutral, it was obvious that the joke had been met with unamused ears.

"Ever heard of an astronaut, Mr. Toussaint," he asked with a raised eyebrow.

Consider tension raised. Oops.

Mell 05-17-2014 01:13 AM

Apparently his little joke had gone down like a lead balloon. Perhaps he should have clarified and said that he didn't know that teaching Astronomy could be so dangerous. But he held his tongue because that would most likely get him into trouble and he promised Zahra that he would be good this year.

"My apologies Professor. I meant no disrespect." Not really. Michael shoved his hands back into his pockets and rocked on his feet once more.

Well this was awkward.

sweetpinkpixie 05-18-2014 07:23 AM

Deep breath, Flamsteed, deeeeeeeeep breath. Not the kid's fault you are on edge about the unknown course of the coming conversation.

"No no, of course," he replied while awkwardly clearing his throat. "Astronomy tends to be one of the under appreciated subjects, as I am sure you can imagine why." Wizarding world and all. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry...not Hogwarts School of Natural Science and Celestial Objects. "I am a bit defensive about it."

Squirmy squirm...gonna just...sit here on the edge of the fountain now. Not on the plaques, but just a little to the side. "You, er, wanted to speak with me about something?"

Mell 05-18-2014 12:44 PM

That was so true. Not that Michael intended on saying that though especially when the Professor was already so touchy about it. But the subject wasn't the most exciting. It wasn't really magic they were learning. "Well you make it fun at least." That accounted for something.

Michael stopped mid rock and felt the heat rise in his face. Oh? Right. They were going to get right into it. "Er...yeah..." How did one start off a conversation like this with a stranger?

"My...um...parents are giving me a hard time about my girlfriend."

WhittyBitty 05-18-2014 09:35 PM

For Gissel. ^_^

Lying down on one of the benches, Lux looked up at the clear blue sky. It was another chilly fall day, so she had made sure to wear a warm sweater under her jacket. Covering her was a blanket, and on the ground beside her bench was a thermos full of hot tea.

Fully relaxed, she closed her eyes and settled herself in for a bit of a nap.

Airey's expression softened a bit. "Considering that is my goal in life I accept that compliment," he grinned. Although he hoped that he made things informative AND fun. Fun wasn't always enough, unfortunately. But he wasn't about to go and ruin the moment.

And they were having that. Sort of. A moment. Yeah? Yes.

Taking a deeeeeeeeeeep breath as they got to the meat of the conversation, Airey braced himself for what was to come - while also crossing his fingers and toes and eyes that it was academic related. Something about struggling to keep up with certain classes. What do to after OWLs and NEWTs were done. Big life decisions like that....he could handle that sort of conversation.

And then Mr. Toussaint dropped a bomb on him. The G word.

Sweet solstice, Merlin help him.

"Ah." Was all he could muster for a reply as his throat dried up and palms became a little sweaty.

Charlotte basically ran up to the tower patch with a couple of blankets and a backpack full of everything she needed to look up at the sky. This was going to be great. She missed looking up at a blue sky so this would be something different for her. She was already hoping to see all kinds of things in the clouds. Clouds weren't nearly as interesting as stars were to her but that was okay, she could deal with this.

Slowing down as she reached the patch, she looked around to see where there were free benches and noticed a very familiar looking redhead lying down on one of them. Char quietly stepped closer, just to make sure it was really her Huffie friend, and grinned at the sight of her. PERFECT! She hadn't seen Lux in ages and was happy to finally see her again.

"Hey, Lux?" The girl's eyes were closed so she wanted to make sure she didn't scare her or anything.

It seemed that no time after she had settled in, Lux heard someone calling her name. "Mmmm." Shifting a little, she opened her eyes slightly, immediately wanting to close them again. The sun was shining right in her face, and now there were little spots dancing in front of her vision.

Oh, it was Charlie.

"Hey!" Slowly raising herself into a sitting position, she smiled at her friend. "Nice seeing you here." And it really was since the last time they had spoken had been in Diagon Alley.

Oh no, she had woken Lux up. Charlotte hadn't realized the girl was trying to sleep, she just thought she was relaxing on the bench. Great. Good job, Charlotte. If Lux wasn't such a nice person all the time, she'd probably hate Char. At least, that's how Char would feel if anyone woke her up when she was outside soaking up the sun. Like that one time Jun had showed up and was bothering her (even if it was when she was upset with him).

"I'm reeeaaally sorry, Lux!" She had even sat up for her. Ugh. "You can lie back down, really. I didn't mean to bother you." Well, she had meant to bother her but not in a bothersome way. In a friend way...when that friends wasn't trying to nap. "ididn'tknowyouwerenapping."

WhittyBitty 05-19-2014 09:05 PM

Oh no!

Charlie felt bad now, and Lux didn't want that. "It's okay, don't worry about it. I only just closed my eyes before you came." It was the truth, and would hopefully make her friend feel a little better.

Smiling, she noticed the blankets and backpack. "You look like you are going camping. All you need is a tent." Surely there wasn't one in the bag? Anything was possible, and Lux did remember that useful spell Sander had taught her last term; so maybe there WAS a tent in Charlie's bag,

"Want some tea?" Bending over to grab her thermos, she figured that the cup could be duplicated. What was the spell for that again?

Gissel 05-19-2014 09:35 PM

"Are you absolutey positive? Because I can sit..um.." She looked around for a free bench and saw about five just around the area. "...anywhere else?" She laughed a bit just then because she knew Lux would never make her leave. At least not if she hadn't meant to wake the girl up. Charlotte wasn't sure how Lux was when she was upset but seeing as this was her normal self, she could tell the redhead was perfectly okay with this.

She sat down next to Lux and set her bag down. "I kind of just wanted to make sure I had everything I might want while I'm here. You can never be too prepared." And most of what was in her bag were snacks because she knew just how munchy she would get in the sun.

"Yes, please." Tea sounded amazing right now actually. Charlotte pulled out her wand, flicked it at the cup, and mumbled 'geminio' to make the cup duplicate itself. There. Now no one needed to sahare.

Michael grinned back at the man glad they he had managed to say something to him. The only adults he really dealt with was the ones in his family and considering he was the first born Toussaint he usually got away with a lot.

But the grin died on his face at the look on the man's face only seconds later. Apparently the Professor was not one for these kinds of talks and for a moment there, Michael was going to tell him not to worry about it, but the man had offered in class and it might be a little amusing watching the man sweat a little more.

And who knows they might both learn something out of this conversation.

"Yeah." He said ignoring the man's obvious discomfort. "I mean, they've known Zahra since the day she was born. We grew up together, so I can't understand why they're being like this now." He looked at Airey with an expectant expression.

Sit somewhere else? Seriously?

Raising her brow, Lux looked at Charlie as if she was insane... which she WAS if she thought that she was going to sit somewhere else. Wanting to gently push her friend down on the bench beside her, it was a good thing that Charlie did it herself instead.

Curiously looking at the bag again, Lux wished that she could see what was inside it just because it had made her rather curious. "Do you have food in there?" At least SOME of that had to be food... right?

About to ask what the duplication spell was, it was a relief when Charlie did it herself. "Awesome." Beaming, she poured the both of them a cup of tea.

"Uuuuuhhhh...." Did she have food? Charlotte couldn't exactly remember anymore. She knew she had put loads of candy and a book or two in case she went mental and decided to do homework but she couldn't remember if food was in there. She opened up the bag and stuck her hand way into it, feeling around for what might be there. "I don't thiiiiink...um...." Seriously? She had woken up her friend, the least she could do was hav- "TACO!" Charlotte felt something taco shaped and pulled out what seemed to be a taco wrapped in aluminum foil. How could she possibly have forgotten about that?? "Do you like tacos?" She asked, handing it over. Because, really, all she would need was her candy so she didn't mind giving Lux the taco.

Taking the cup from her friend, she sipped at the tea and grinned. Perfect. Thanking her, she dug her hand back into the bag while sipping at the tea, trying to find a lollipop in the midst of every other candy in the world.

Eagerly, Lux watched Charlie dig through her bag, hoping without hope that there was something in there that they could both eat. Just as hope was about lost, a taco happened. Hmmm... Interesting. "NO, I don't think I've ever eaten a taco before." Did that make her weird? As far as she knew they were a pretty common food staple. Her family didn't really do Mexican cuisine, so that meant Lux had never tried them before.

Happily taking the food, she thanked her friend before opening the foil. It smelled good, and she could see that it was stuffed full of beef, lettuce, cheese, salsa, and sour cream. Yummy. "Are you going to have a taco too?" This wasn't the only one, right? Because Lux didn't want to take all of Charlie's food. "You are very welcome for the tea."

How was it even possible that Lux had never tried a taco? Wasn't the girl from America? Surely there were taco restaurants over there or at least taco kits she could buy from a grocery store! THESE WERE TACOS, FOR GOODNESS SAKE. Charlotte just didn't understand hooooow! She needed to make sure not to freak out Lux though because that would be bad, she liked her and didn't want her to run away or something. No yelling about tacos allowed. Taking in a big breath, she smiled and spoke, making sure not to sound too judgmental. "I cannot believe you've never had one! They're the best, I promise!" And if her friend didn't like them, Charlotte didn't know what she would do...die maybe? Not that she was too dramatic or anything.

Charlotte sipped at her tea and thought about whether or not she was really hungry enough to search for another taco in her bag...eventually she decided it wasn't worth it and the tea would just be enough for her. "Noooo, I'm pretty sure I only have the one and I'm not very hungry anyhow." She was sure the tea would hold her off until dinner time.

Okaaaay, clearly she WAS weird because of the way that Charlie was looking at her. Blushing slightly, Lux looked over the taco some more mostly so that she wouldn't have to see her friend's total look of shock anymore. "Well, they smell and look really nice. I mean it isn't like there aren't tacos in Canada. Does it help that I knew what they are?" So she wasn't TOTALLY weird, just SLIGHTLY weird. "My family never eats Mexican," she added as an afterthought to clarify things further.

As Charlie said she wasn't hungry, Lux took that as go ahead to eat without feeling bad and took a bite, savoring the delicious food. "Wow, this is amazing."

Now Charlotte felt bad because she had been unaware of her facial expression and clearly Lux could tell how weirded out she was. It's not like it was her who had never had a taco though! Now, fully aware of her face, she smiled and nodded, realizing how unweird never having a taco probably is in reality. Still, though, TACOS. "That really is better. I can imagine what it would be like if you didn't even know what a taco was!' And Lux had made a good point. If her family never ate Mexican, how was she just supposed to have had a taco? Not everyone wandered around places on their own like she had grown to do in London.

"RIGHT?!?!?" The fact that Lux thought the taco was so good made Charlie extremely happy! This meant she wouldn't have to die or treat Lux weird (although she probably wouldn't anyway). Her friend was normal now, yay! "And there are loads of different kinds of tacos too! This is just the start!" Maybe over one of the breaks, she would take Lux out to try different tacos. A taco friend date!

He was about as good at this as Airey was. He had no idea why he was even speaking to the Professor about it. He had two uncles and an aunt that he could talk to and they would most definitely be better than the Astronomy Professor.

But when he thought about it, Michael realised that he wanted the opinion of someone who wasn't apart of the Toussaint clan. At least this way it would be objective.

If he managed to get an answer out Airey that was.

"Well like I said, Zahra and I have grown up together. We're best friends." He paused for a moment. "But over the past six months or so we've become...more than friends." Surely the man would know what he meant by that. Surely he didn't have to go into detail. "Anyway ever since we have gotten closer, our parents are trying to separate us." And it was really rather frustrating.

It was hard to swallow her first bite, because Charlie was making her want to laugh with the expression on her face. "You know, you are cute." It needed to be said, and there was no way that Lux could be convinced otherwise. "I'm not too sure how common tacos are but I think they are more or less universal now. What other Mexican dishes are there?" Maybe Charlie liked to eat Mexican food, so she could give her more things to try. But if she only knew about tacos, that was cool as well!

"Wait, what? There are different kinds of tacos?!" How incredibly cool! Now she had more options, and could pick a favourite. "I can't imagine there being a cucumber taco... But what other kinds are there?" There was no way this conversation could continue without Charlie giving her this information.

It was starting to get colder outside, but not enough to stop all the students from traipsing around the grounds, making the place too crowded for Dora to consider using it for studying purposes. But the tower patch had multiple appeals. It was closer to her common room, so less of a walk, it had significantly less students since half the population would have to walk seven floors and then some just to get up here, and it still had a sense of the outdoors that she was missing with all her time spent in the common room.

So it was here she chose to do her studying.

The seventh year was sitting on a patch of grass with her jarvey curled up in her lap sleeping. A wide variety of books surrounded her, and her eyes were glued to one in particular as she blocked out the world around her.

Kyroh was lost. He hadn't meant to get lost but he was. For some reason he thought he had astronomy today! Which he hadn't. But now that he was up here Kyroh couldn't remember how to get back down to the common room. Usually he just followed the group of other Ravenclaws but they weren't here now.

He made a few turns and then blinked, utterly confused because....he was outside? Why was he outside? Upstairs had an outside?

Kyroh slowly walked around unsure if he was even suppose to be here and who to ask for help. He was just about to turn back when he spotted that girl-lady! His Prefect! Running over he plopped down across from her and her giant stack of books and her-"You have a ferret on you." Woah.

PatInTheHat 05-26-2014 11:48 PM

Dora had gone to this school long enough for people to know not to mess with her when they saw her engrossed in her studies, or not to mess with her in general. And if they did need to speak with her, they knew not to come running over or flopping around. This was what most everyone knew.

This first year here, he wasn't most everyone.

She almost started but calmed almost immediately after, irritation evident on her face when she saw it was one in her house. Her jarvey wasn't so silent about his irritation at being woken up by his sudden arrival, and spewed out a string of curses at the boy before calming to Dora's touch. "Jarvey. He's a jarvey. And you're disrupting us." Why were first years so loud and kinetic? She certainly hadn't been that boisterous.

Kaos.Doodles 05-27-2014 01:10 AM

The ferret was SWEARING.

Which made Kyrohs eyes grow because: 1. Ferret's didn't talk, but most importantly 2. It was saying some PRETTY BAD words.

His large eyes flickered back to the Prefect. A Jarvey? "I've read about those!" Which made more sense as to why it was talking. "You should maybe teach him some better words. Like nicer ones!"

Kyroh would have given examples but....he was disrupting them apparently. Oops. "I'll be quieter!" The first year said rather loudly, before pressing his finger to his lips.

PatInTheHat 05-27-2014 02:12 AM

Dora raised an eyebrow at him, eyeing the boy over her glasses. He was being loud, did he know? "I would but nicer words never seem to get the point across." And foul language was fun. So much fun in fact, that she'd made a hobby out of teaching him swear words in all the languages she knew.

It was a wonder she was still allowed to have him in the school.

"You say you'll be quieter, but I've yet to see that possible." She eyed him speculatively. "What are you doing up here anyway? Do you need something?" Maybe if she helped him, he'd go away faster.

Kaos.Doodles 05-27-2014 06:09 AM

Kyroh eyed the fer-Jarvey. Yes. It was much bigger than a ferret now that he looked closely at it, though he wasn't even sure what size a normal ferret grew into. It could have just been fat after all. "But nicer words don't get your in trouble, because swear words are bad. " Kyroh wasn't allowed to say them. Not that he had tried or anything, but his older cousins had always gotten in troubled for swearing so he didn't do it because getting in trouble was not Kyroh's cup of tea. What if the Jarvey got in trouble!?

Quiet. Yes. Kyroh was ready to lower his voice and everything! He had just forgotten. "I don't even know where we are." Kyroh said in a whisper, cleaning closer just in case she couldn't hear him because of how awesomely quiet he was being! "I got lost 'cause I thought there was an extra Astronomy class but there isn't one."

As for did he need something? Did she mean....like food? Kyroh wasn't hungry or anything. "I don't really need anything Miss Prefect." He was fine up here really. Until he needed to use the loo or something.

PatInTheHat 05-28-2014 03:41 AM

"Nice words can get you in trouble if you use them the right ways." Just because they were labeled nice didn't necessarily make them so. It just made them acceptable to use in public settings. Dora just so happened not to bother with with teaching those words to Biter. And even if she did he wouldn't listen anyway.

The whole getting lost thing wasn't surprising at all considering how this one was new to the castle, and the wanting to attend an extra lesson wasn't surprising either because Ravenclaw. The annoying kind who only cared about getting good grades, but it was too early to tell if he'd stay that way. She sure didn't. "This is the tower patch. In memory of astronomy professors killed in the school." And sometimes a great escape from the student population, except for right now.

Why was he leaning in? She wasn't deaf.

"Miss Dora." She corrected. "I prefer not to use the term prefect. Who are you?"

Kaos.Doodles 05-28-2014 04:08 AM

His brows came together, slightly confused by the Prefects words. "But if they get you in trouble how's that using them in the right ways?" That was using them in all the wrong ways. "I don't war to get in trouble...." What if HE was using nice words in the right ways? He could get in trouble at any minute now!

Kyroh's eyes grew at the new information. A Tower patch sure but uh-"A Professor was killed?" Maybe he would have known that if he read Hogwarts A History but nope. It was boring.

"Okay Miss Dora." She WAS a prefect though. But if she didn't want to be called that, Kyroh was okay with that. It was like him and the Professors calling him MR. "I'm Kyroh Scabior." The boy said sticking out his hand. He even said his name quietly and everything, which was rare.

PatInTheHat 05-28-2014 04:36 AM

And at that, Dora actually smiled knowingly. "I said they can get you into trouble. I've not really had an issue with trouble though." She shrugged. "Wordplay. If you use 'nice' words the right way, they can be just as bad as swear words without always seeming so." It wasn't really something she could explain, but he would get it eventually. He was in Ravenclaw after all, and they enjoyed a good deal of wordplay.

"One by another wizard, and the other by a plant." She returned her eyes to her book, flipping the page casually as if it was no big deal that professors died in the school. It was more a big deal just to make it out of this school alive. "Not to worry though, students haven't died here in years." And even when they were dying off it was a bunch of Puffers.

She wasn't going to extend the invitation to this one about the whole friendship thing solely because the last one had seemed to take it as a challenge and she didn't need a bunch of first years trying to be her friend. "Scabior?" She mused, eyes returning to him. "Like the professor?"

Kaos.Doodles 05-28-2014 05:25 AM

Were the words really that bad if they were nice words and didn't seem bad? Kyroh wasn't sure. But it sounded pretty cool to have the ability to do that. Wordplay. Huh. "Can you teach me how?" Not so he could get away with making nice words mean. Just so he knew when other people were doing it, or if he was doing it without even knowing.

A wizard had been in Hogwarts and killed a Professor? A PLANT had killed a Professor!?!? "How did the wizard get in the castle? And did Professor Bentley not like that Professor?" He knew the woman had said she didn't feed the plants bad students YET but...he didn't know she fed the plants bad Professors! He felt a little better knowing that no students died recently but...technically he was still part-professor and all.

Miss Dora was busy reading her book. Annnd she didn't see his hand. Kyroh let his hand drop slowly, a bit put out by the fact that she hadn't shaken it. Sure she was looking at her book and everything but still.

Kyroh nodded his head. "Exactly like it. 'Cept he's not a professor anymore." Which was pretty obvious because he didn't work here anymore. But just incase she though that he worked somewhere else or something. "He's just my papa." A small smile appeared on his lips.

PatInTheHat 05-28-2014 07:43 PM

Opps. I missed the handshake thing, but Dora wouldn't have anyway so no harm. <3

"Not really. But if you listen closely, you'll begin to recognize it when it's happening around you." It happened a lot in this school too.

Her eyes flicked back up at him when he started with more questions. He asked a lot of those, did he know? "All of this is in Hogwarts, A History you know. It wouldn't hurt to crack that open and read it." Because despite whatever he wanted to believe, she wasn't all that helpful and had no intentions of answering all his questions in detail. "Bentley's not that malicious." Just so he knew. As fun as that rumor would be to start, she didn't think it all that believable.

And also she had no interest in filling the kid's head with fears.

Didn't see, didn't want to shake. They were both the same thing. Not only was she surrounded by first years, she was surrounded by ones that were well mannered and it was weird.

"Still a professor, just not teaching anymore." She corrected, eyes staying on him as she studied his features and tried to recall an old class memory. "You were in one of the lessons." Fact, not a question. It was way back when she had attended as many as she could. Though he was obviously older now. "Want to help me study?"

Kaos.Doodles 05-29-2014 07:56 PM

First Maddie said that she observed people. And now Miss Dora said he had to listen closely. It seemed like Ravenclaws liked paying attention. And Kyroh could do that! He could pay attention too! "I'm going to listen really close from now on." He PROMISED!

"I've opened it before." The boy stated. "Three times by myself. But I fell asleep all three times." The book was boring. Really boring. "It's kinda weird they should just put all the cool stuff at the front." Like THIS WAS THE MOST RECENT DEATH. And if someone wanted to learn more about it they could flip to a certain page with the death in context. But Kyroh was no writer so what did he know?

.....He knew what made him not sleep. That was all.

"But what if she just forgot to feed the plants or something? Like on purpose?"Hmmm? It could have happened. Did Miss Dora KNOW?

Was he still a professor if he wasn't teaching? Huh. Kyroh just shrugged, because alright if she said so. "I was! I taught and everything!" It had been fun. There had been a cool spinning chair.

Help her study? Kyroh's eyes grew. No one had ever asked him to help them study before! "Okay." The boy whispered in slight awe before crawling over beside her. He pushed a few books out of his way just so he could sit down RIGHT there. RIGHT beside her. So he could help his prefect study and everything!

....Kyroh just hoped the Jarvey didn't bite.

PatInTheHat 05-29-2014 11:36 PM

Well that was good she supposed. Since he was clearly sticking around, and she wasn't one to repeat herself.

"They like to have some order to the book." She responded with a raised eyebrow. He didn't much sound like a reader, but she supposed she couldn't compare him to herself since she had always been one for history anyway. "Try starting from the back. I sometimes find that history books are more easier to read when the information is recent." Look at her, being helpful and whatever. She should be getting PAID for this prefecting job. Or at least get more privileges. "And chat up the school ghosts and portraits. They tend to know some things as well."

Forgot to feed the plants? Bently? She shook her head. "No. I don't think so. This plant was just highly dangerous, and Bently loves her plants." That wasn't to say that she put it completely past the professor to be above killing, just that she thought it highly unlikely.

"Yea.... you were." You know.... there and stuff.

Neither Dora nor her jarvey much appreciated the closeness. Him hissing and cursing, and her giving Kyroh LOOKS.

.... Sigh. Whatever. Whatever. She did this to herself. "I need some help practicing spells. Stuff that I know I can do on Biter." She gave the annoyed jarvey a gentle stroke. "But never tried on humans. You up for it?"

Okay. He gave up. There was no way he was going to be able to turn this all into some sort of astronomy analogy without making himself entirely distracted and therefore missing just about everything the young Gryffindor was saying.......so he was just going to man up and work through his squirmy insides.

And yes. More than friends. Obviously. That was what the term girlfriend meant after all so there were no qualms with that statement. Unless he meant girl friend, with a space, and not girlfriend with no space. But that thought was quickly dismissed as Airey just trying not to focus on the real 'issue' at hand.

Oh, doing the opposite of what your parents want you to do? Well, Airey was quite the expert in that. Although not when it came to girls. Never with girls. Which was now an entirely different thought that had him distracted. Medea meeting his family - which hadn't happened yet for obvious reasons.

"Ooooooooh sweet solstice," he whispered, more to himself than in response to what Mr. Toussaint had just shared. Blue eyes refocusing on the young man he took a deep breath and finally spoke. "I'm no love expert," he began. In case THAT fact wasn't obvious. Thank Merlin they were alone right now in the Tower Patch because....just yeah. "So forgive me for looking at this through a scientist's lens, but is this irrational behavior based on anything factual or just pure emotion? I often found that when my parents disapproved of something I did growing up, it was more them clinging to their slightly dated attitudes and opinions because it helps them feel safe in an evolving world." He paused to observe Mr. Toussaint's appearance for a moment. "From an entirely outsider's perspective, you appear to be happy, healthy, and perhaps even a bit more enthusiastic than previous terms." All good things, obviously.

There was another theory rolling around inside his brain, but he would propose that one after receiving some more information.

"They could have order if they went with my way." Kyroh insisted. Maybe? Some order? Or maybe none at all. Why was order even needed? As long as dates and stuff where there, it was all good! Though Miss Dora did make sense about starting from the back. "I'll try that next time."And if he fell asleep again then no more Hogwarts, A History for him.

Talking to the ghosts and portraits? Really? Kyroh's eyes lit up. "I can talk to them and I won't be bugging them!?" Yeah!? He didn't know that! He had always thought the people in the portraits were busy doing their own thing.

Hmmmmmm. "I think i'll still keep my distance from any flesh eating plants." And he had JUST started thinking that they were pretty alright. But he didn't want to get eaten, even if Bentley did feed the plants.

The Jarvey was making noises again. And swearing. Kyroh hesitated and almost brought his hands up to his ears so he could block out the bad curse words. He wasn't suppose to hear those. Looking up at Miss Dora, Kyroh almost scooted away because she was giving him strange looks. "....Do you want a hug?" was that what was wrong?

She.....was going to try spells on him? Kyroh blinked. "You're not going to set me on fire right?"

"Your way would have no one reading the book." She pointed out. He could'n't even read it himself. Order was needed in so many things, and books was one of them. She nodded her head. He needed to read that book, it was full of useful information.

Dora shook her head, brushing aside a few stray hairs from her face. "No, most of them enjoy a good conversation and if they don't just keep bugging them until you get what information you need." That's what she had done when she had been his age.

"That's the smart thing to do." Until the plant came looking for him, but she didn't say that. Again, not interested in scaring any first years today. Not intentionally at least.

Did she.... No. No she did not want a hug. "I'm fine." No need for hugs. She didn't bother fixing her face. Nor did she bother with silencing Biter, though he managed that on his own by climbing up on her shoulders, hiding beneath her long hair.

"No, I won't set you on fire." She paused. "Or do anything that's not irreversible."

"No one reads the book anyways." Kyroh retorted. Except for Miss Dora apparently. And his dad but he was an adult, and he taught at Hogwarts so that meant he HAD to read it right?

Well, now Kyroh knew who he would go talk to AFTER! Some portraits! Yeah! There was one with a fat lady on the seventh floor so maybe that would be a good one to talk too? She looked interesting. And if not there was always more.

Smart thing to do? Did that mean he was smart? YEAH! HIS PREFECT THOUGHT HE WAS SMART! "It is right? It's cause I'm smart and I don't wanna die!" Kyroh puffed out his chest. All proud like. Until she spoke again.

No hug? Not even one? She was still looking at him though. Weird Kyroh's shoulders shrank a bit. Not even a small hug? The Jarvey seemed to quiet down though, and so that had to be good right?

Okay well now that he knew he wasn't going to be in any danger. "Can you make me FLY?!" The boy asked excitedly. Was that a spell she had to practice? Making people fly!?

"Just because you don't read the book doesn't mean no one does." She wasn't the first to read the book in it's entirety, and she certainly wasn't going to be the last.

A hint of amusement was in her eyes at his excitement. She didn't get why he was so excited and proud all of a sudden, and could only assume it was the whole being smart and living thing.

Not even one. The fact that he was still sitting so close should be a reward on it's own. Dora watched his sudden mode change with distant curiosity, saying nothing. If he wanted a hug or closeness, he could find one of the other females in their house much more willing to share those things.

"Technically, yes I can." She paused thoughtfully. "I can do that spell first if you want. Noverbal practice." She didn't actually need to practice it, but if it gained her his trust then she'd have a go at it.

Well he also hadn't heard of anyone else reading it! Kyroh nodded though because he wanted to show Miss Dora that he WAS listening to Her. .....He just thought she was wrong. "We should take a survey then to see who's right!"

She knew how to make him fly?! Woah. His eyes grew. That wasn't even something he thought you could do with magic! "OKAY!" He yelled happily jumping up! He was SO excited and all for it, until a thought entered his brain. "....Will it hurt?"

..... So much for studying. Dora banished her books back to her dorm with a wave of her wand, and shifted to look at him better without jostling Biter too much. A quiet jarvey was a good jarvey right now. "No, it won't hurt. I've had it done to me before, it's pretty fun."

Her wand trained on him, she waited patiently. "Are you ready?"

A HUG she would get a HUG! Or...at least that's what Kyroh would offer if she were someone who liked hugs. He didn't even know she had to get something out of it! "Er...I can do stuff for you. Stuff that you can't or don't want to do." He'd be like Kyroh the House Elf or something! He'd be a good one too! "What would I get?"

Kyroh jumped back, and his eyes grew because WHAT. The books. Just GONE! "Woah. How...." The first year mumbled, looking oddly like a deer caught in headlights.

How did she even DO that?

As long as it didn't hurt? Kyroh puffed out his chest once more. "I'm READY!"

For a moment there Michael thought that the Professor was not going to respond to what he had just told the man. He was starting to feel even more uncomfortable with this conversation. He was just thinking about telling Airey not to worry about it when he finally spoke.

And to be honest, Michael had absolutely no idea what the Professor was asking. He didn't want to appear stupid either by asking him to repeat the question. He rocked back on his heels and rubbed the back of his neck with his hand. "My dad wants me to do good at school and you know have a good career and all that, so he sees Zahra as a distraction." He paused for a moment and dropped his hand by his side. "Mum....well she...had me when she was only seventeen and while I don't think she regrets it." That's what she kept telling him anyway. "I think she's worried that...you know..." He didn't have to elaborate, did he?

The compliment made Michael chuckle a little. "Well we did promise our parents that we would be good so that we could see each other over the summer."

There wasn't so much that Dora couldn't do as there were things she didn't want to do, so she supposed that could be his payment since there didn't seem to be much else the first year could offer. "Okay, sure." She tilted her head to the side considerately. "Whatever you want." He could pick now or later.

Simple magic around the younger ones, Dora was now finding out, was very impressive. That or they were easily impressed. "I just sent everything back to my room." Easy spell, for her at least.

Now that she had his permission, she gave a lazy swish and flick of her wand, raising him up a few inches off the ground by his clothing.

She would wait for his excitement to die down before taking him higher.

Airey had forgotten to breathe, again, as he listened to the Gryffindor explain things a bit further. And, while it all did not directly answer his question, he was able to conclude that the concerns were purely an emotional response and not something that had been logically thought through.

And then Mr. Toussaint went and said................THAT.

Just when he thought things could not get any more awkward they did and there was really only one thing that the astronomer did when it felt like he was going spontaneously combust. And it was perhaps one of the most socially unacceptable ways to deal with things. There had only been one other such instance on record to date and that had been when Calista Elwood had kissed him in the middle of the dance floor.

Saying nothing, the wide-eyed-mouth-partially-hanging-open professor lied down on the ledge of the fountain with his face down against the pavement and his arms held tightly against his sides.

Planking. It was a thing. It was happening right now.

Just gonna be one with the fountain and try to stop thinking about THINGS.

Michael didn't know whether to be amused or annoyed with the Professor right now. This conversation was not particularly easy for him either. He took a couple of steps closer to the Professor and looked down at him as he lay on the fountain's edge. "Why in Merlin's name did you offer to have this talk?"

It was the only reason that Michael had come up here and spill his guts about his personal life. The man had offered to hear his problems and Michael thought that maybe an outsider might have a different perspective.

Apparently though it had been too much for the Astronomy Professor. Michael reached down and gave Airey a few pokes with is finger. "Professor? Are you still with me?" The poking turned into shaking and then accidentally on purpose, Michael gave the Professor a good hard shove towards the water.

Why? The answer to that question was easy. But that was also assuming that the professor was capable of speech. His toes did wiggle a little bit in his shoes though. That was progress. Sort of.

Twitching ever so slightly at the initial poke, his arms dropped from his sides and hung like limp noodles on either side. Which was a bad idea for his left arm because it went SPLASH into the fountain. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR that was COLD!

Oh hey. There were words wanting to come out now. Stellar.

But before he could properly answer - something along the lines of he had wanted to speak to the Gryffindor because he was concerned by his sullen face during his lesson - but the poking had intensified and the next thing Airey knew he was...rolling...and then...

*SPLASH*

FLAILING! SPITTING OUT WATER! MORE FLAILING! SHOE BEING KICKED OFF AND FLUNG ACROSS THE TOWER PATCH!

"SWEET SOLSTICE IT'S FREEZING!" he howled, teeth chattering, while trying to climb out of the fountain. "Boomerang Nebula level freezing!" No, maybe worse. Maybe The Cold Atom Lab experimentation level cold. HE WAS FREEZING ALRIGHT?!

Oh.

Whoopsie.

Michael was on the verge of laughing at the Professor's failing when a shoe came flying towards his head. He quickly ducked out of the way before he got smacked in the face.

And according to Airey the water was just a wee bit cold. Michael was once again on the verge of laughing but he managed to hold it in by biting on the inside of his cheek. The last thing he needed was a detention.

"Here." He said holding out his hand towards the Professor. "Let me help you."

Moving his limb around, Airey was convinced that the water was the consistency of a slushie and it was VERY unpleasant to be wading in. And where was his shoe?

Teeth chattering so violently that he felt like his brain was rattling within his skull, he reached out for Mr. Toussaint's hand and grabbed hold. You know what was tempting in this situation? Pulling the boy in as well. Only fair since he had been pushed in, but he refrained from doing so because Seren would be quite cross with him if a Gryffindor ended up in the Hospital Wing with pneumonia. Not to mention what Cece would do. SHUDDER.

"T-T-T-T-T-TH-TH-TH-THAAAAAAAAAA-THANK YOU, M-M-M-MMMMMR. T-T-T-T-TOUUUUUU-S-S-SAINT," he managed to squeak out as he somehow pulled himself out of the fountain and rolled on to the ledge."T-T-T-Tell me, h-h-h-how p-p-proficient are you w-w-w-with a H-H-HOOOOt Air Charm?"

Or conjuring a blanket, but the latter may be a little advanced for his year. Either way, he could hardly straighten his fingers let alone hold his wand, so there would be no spellcasting on the astronomer's part.

Stupid freezing slushie water. Stupid ridiculously cold weather.

For a second there when Flammy grabbed hold of his hand, Michael thought the Professor was going to drag him into the water. Personally if it had been him in the man's situation he would have definitely done it. Airey though must have a conscience which Michael was very much thankful for.

"No problems Professor." It was the least he could since he had pushed the man into the water. Accidentally of course. Well that's what he was going to say if Airey asked him about it.

Oh. OH! Michael immediately shoved his hand into his pocket and pulled out his wand. "Rather good Sir." And he gave his wand a complicated little wave and "Ventus." He said confidently and was relieved to see steam issue from his wand so he waved it over the man's clothes.

"Maybe I should have this conversation with the Head of House." Or any of the others Professor's would be good.

He wasn't going to speak. At least not right now. No offense there kiddo. It was just that he rather liked having teeth and with how violently his teeth were chattering at the moment he was sure one or two of them was going to chip. Instead he half grinned half winced when Mr. Toussaint removed his wand and began administering the Hot Air Charm all over him.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah... warm air. Dry clothes. Dry hair. Warm fingers. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarm...

The tension in his limbs slowly diminished, so at least he didn't look like the Hunchback of Notre Dame, and now that he was dry he was somewhat optimistic that he would not catch pneumonia or some other wintery cold. Then again...he had swallowed some of the water in the fountain and Merlin knew what was in there besides water. "Stellar. 4 points to you, Mr. Toussaint, for proper and efficient application of a charm during a time of crisis...and saving my suit from waterlogged damage." Okay, so the latter half of that was a bit dramatic. Oh well.

Oh....they were back to that again. The astronomer had hoped perhaps this fountain fiasco had distracted him enough to forget about it. Teenagers.

"Had I known the nature of your troubles, I surely would have suggested the same," he replied, fidgeting again. He had zero experience in the matter even as an adult, so it was downright impossible for him to put himself in the boy's shoes. Except for when it came to....dreams. His parents hadn't exactly been keen on him wanting to become an astronaut - especially with the grades he had his first few terms - but you know, sometimes you just got to follow your instincts. Which would be replaced by the word 'heart' for the sake of this conversation.

"That being said, I can offer you what little words of wisdom I have in hopes they are somewhat useful. Parents love their children, faults and all, and only have their child's best interest in heart. They can be irrational, protective, judgmental, misguided, but they are not doing what they do to be malevolent. But if you want them to see things your way, you cannot get on the defensive. Remind them that you appreciate their concerns, but just because their vision of how your life should shape up, er, who you are choosing to spend, er, time with isn't being delivered in the expected package doesn't mean it is entirely bad. Padmé Amidala and Anakin Skywalker would never have approved of their daughter, Princess Leia, choosing a smuggler from the manufacturing planet Corellia for a mate after all. Just have to, er, follow your heart and help parents see that heart." Of course, there were exceptions. There were always exceptions. This is why he hated this kind of illogical talk. Two plus two ended up meaning 42 with NO logical explanation. "Parents will come around, eventually, with a little patience and you maintaining the moral high ground."

Because everyone knew how important it was to have the higher ground. Life lessons learned from Obi Wan Kenobi right there.

As curious as she was that had the astronomy professor as nervous as he was, they HAD turned down the wrong corridor a few times, she kept her mouth shut. Besides, she was as much curious to know why the tower patch of all places was suggested. It was a little difficult to get the door open to the open outdoor patch due to the, ahem, icy conditions, and the burst of chill was no better. Cue the giant shiver and cling to Airey's arm from no jacket. But the sight was something to behold, as she predicted. Chilled wonderland!

"Goodness..." she muttered under her breath. Chilled wonderland indeed.

Air? What was air? Between his nerves and the ICY BLAST that came from opening the door to the Tower Patch, the astronomer felt like all the oxygen had been squeezed out of his lungs. Despite this, he immediately removed his outermost jacket and placed it on Medea's shoulders after prying her arm from his.

Bloody brilliant, Flamsteed. Lead her all the way up here and cause her to get frostbite. Good move. Smoooooooooooooth as chunky peanut butter.

"I...er....I suppose I should make this quick then. Before we freeze," he said through slightly chattering teeth as he patted his trouser pocket for what seemed like the ten billionth time since he had gone to get her at her office.

Oh! Jacket. Warmth. She'd take it.

"Thank you." It was only after she'd snuggled further into the material did she realize that Airey was now standing there probably freezing to death. Even if he had was wearing a spear. Well done, she should've brought her own jacket. Not that it would've taken long to grab before they ventured up here. But, oh yes, what was the reason they came up here anyways? Sounded serious. The...worrying serious too. Up in the tower patch. Alone. With serious business.

Stare. Wait patiently. Shiver. Stare. Nothing of the bad news sorts was it? Oh dear...

Well...now that they were here and there was nothing left but to do what he had been planning out to the tiniest detail for weeks now......he found himself tongued tied and with his mind a complete blank. Had been a nice thought, you know, planning things out so that he didn't look like a bumbling idiot like always. So much for that.

Clearing his throat, he shoved one hand into his pocket and held on tightly to the small box while he rocked back on his heels. "So...um...you know...um...this place...well not THIS place as in this spot because we were over there. At the fountain. Not here. Um. But...not the point. Um." Come ooooooooooon, Flamsteed. "This place has...emotional attachment to it." Oh yes. So romantic. Give him a gold star for not even trying? "I mean...you know....nearly 3 years ago were were up here and...things happened...things that started it all..." You know, the ice cream that gave him the courage to kiss her and then they both went frolicking down to Professor Lafay's office to serenade her in the middle of the night. Those sorts of things.

"So...um...it just seemed like the best sort of location to, er, um, see if we, er, wanted to evolve. Level up. Er...." Yeah...not going like he had planned at all. He stopped his rocking just enough to remove a small flat box - no ribbon and no wrapping because his decoration jobs were always horrible - and handed it to Medea."I want you to have this."

Inside the box, were she to open it, was nothing more than a simple every day run of the mill key.

Dora hadn't levitated anyone for good fun since she first tried it on West back in their second year, and so decided that since he was having fun with it, so should she. The prefect slowly lifted him higher in the air until he was well above her. "Better than a ghost," Though ghosts were pretty cool.

Her wand hand moved around the slightest bit, enough to start him gliding through the air. "I can teach you this spell if you'd like." To start off their... whatever friendship. "And you can try it on your friends."

Oh yes, this was indeed the place they first...started. She smiled at the thought, glancing over at the fountain. The only good thing to come from that term it seemed. Though Airey's nerves made HER nervous and she didn't know what was in the box and...and what did leveling up mean? Evolve?

With the less than joyful scenarios arriving in bundles, her toes scrunched up and knees locked together before she saw the small box come into view. A...small box. That...looked...nothing like what she was imagining to happen, oh thank goodness. Letting out the breath she was holding, resulting what looked like a puff of smoke in front of her, she silently composed herself.

"Level up?" she repeated with a twinkly smile as she took the simple box. Plenty of items could fit in a small flat box. PLENTY of items. Though she never would have guessed this particular item to be...a key. A key to what? A key to...

....

Oh my.

Level up. Yes. Like in muggle role playing video games - although he was primarily thinking of Pokemon in this instance. Which was beyond ridiculous and such thoughts really should be kept to himself, but since he had sort of started talking it was as though the flood gates had been opened and now words were just pouring out of his mouth.

"Yeah, um, you see...in er, muggle role playing video games characters gain experience points and when they reach a certain point they gain a level. Become stronger. More powerful. But, er, sometimes...in order to get to an even stronger level, er, place...they need something extra. Like...a thunder stone or deployed in certain locations..." So, really, the gift signified both those things. An item and a new location. Well, sort of new. She was no stranger to his humble abode.

"So, er..." he paused to run the back of his FREEZING neck with his hand. Oh Merlin, had his hair follicles frozen? He was pretty sure he had just rubbed the lower part of his neck bare. Awkward. "That is a key to my home and I, um, I don't know which step you are, er, ready for...but I was kind of sort of hoping that maybe...you would...um, you know, um, consider perhaps...............................moving in with me?"

Felines and all. And THAT was saying something.

Muggle role playing video games. She'd never played, though heard of them yes. Fascinating concept. However interesting his description was though, it was very difficult to move her gaze and thoughts from the small copper key. Or was it brass? Not that she needed to know what type of metal it was made out of. It didn't make a difference with what it made of. What mattered was what it unlocked.

.....oh my oh my.

The repeated words of "a key to your home" in a question manner were just on her lips, but she was incapable of speaking as her gaze snapped up to Airey. A key to his home. He...he wanted her to move in with him? "Oh, Airey..." Was it just her or was it getting tingly warm? Or just...tingly. The freezing temperatures and the added hummingbird heartbeat she had gave an odd sensation in her feet and hands.

"I...I vill of course, consider it." Did...did he need an answer...now?

Her wand hand moved around the slightest bit, enough to start him gliding through the air. "I can teach you this spell if you'd like." To start off their... whatever friendship. "And you can try it on your friends."

Kyroh's mind was racing as he was lifted higher into the air. His breath caught in his throat and all he could really do was state. He was like a ghost! He was! This charm could make him like the next Peeves! Maddie had shot down the idea right away because it meant that he'd have to be dead or something but with this charm he wouldn't have to die! He could just fly around dropping stuff on people! ....Or maybe just on Peeves? HE COULD BE THE ANTI-PEEVES ATTACKING PEEVES!

Way better than a ghost.

LOOK HE WAS MOVING! AND AHHH! Kyroh even flapped his arms because that's what birds did right? Just incase Miss Dora accidentally let him go he'd have to flap to keep some momentum. That would totally keep him up in the air. Yup. "You CAN?" REALLLY!!!??!?? "Yes please!"

The all too familiar sensation of forgetting how to breathe had taken over him yes again. It really was a wonder how he had survived his teen years considering that his anxiety and social interactions had matured since then. Yeah, think on that everyone.

He also wasn't sure what sort of answer he was expecting or even hoping for. Yes would be nice, though. Since, you know, everyone hated rejection when you were putting yourself out there. For the first time. Merlin his palms were sweating profusely. And he was feeling hot. Almost hot enough to not notice the freezing temperatures outside. Almost.

Inhaling sharply when she spoke, he locked eyes with her and waited for her to finish her thought.

"STELLAR!" he exclaimed, arms wide and wrapped around her to give her one of those pick you off your feet and spin 360 degrees sort of hugs. "I mean...that's great. I mean thank you. I mean...I still want you to have that regardless. I want you to know you are always welcome and that you...." he paused for a moment because the words were catching in his throat. "...you have complete access to my life."

Probably something he should have discussed with her first instead of just throwing this all at her at once. In freezing temperatures. Where she was wearing his coat and he was now standing their freezing with a red nose. His limbs still maintained his full mobility, which was useful as he pulled out one more thing from his pocket and handed her one (the one on the right).

"Um...here...to, um, help you distinguish that key from all the others," he explained "Oh, and, um, Happy Valentine's Day."

EEEEEE!!

Holding on to his upper arms, she softly laughed until her feet touched back to the ground, leaving a lingering merry smile in place. Heavens good gracious, complete access to his life. That...was a large thing to say. If that didn't warm someone up from head to toe and take their breath away like it did her, she didn't know what would. "Thank you...Airey. That means a lot." Truly, sincerely, and everything in between.

Oh? But even more? Taking the small silver item, she couldn't not smile even more at the image and half finished phrase. And beyond. To infinity...and beyond. Biting her lip, she glanced up to him, holding the key and charm tightly in her cold hand. A repeated thank you didn't seem like enough for the grand gesture he'd made. Nothing she could currently think of did. Though she leaned forward to give a kiss.

"Happy Valentine's day." One of the top ones yet.

Okay. Maybe spinning hadn't been the best idea because he was feeling lightheaded now. Or maybe the sensation was because of something else entirely. Not because of any sort of physical exertion, but because of the other ways Medea effected him. Like the way his heart was racing and seemingly skipping beats....again.

Grinning from ear to ear, he reached up and tucked a stray strand of her hair behind her ear and tried not to allow his thoughts to wander so he could relish in this moment. Only it was hard to stop his thoughts from wandering to the future just a little. Especially when she said things like that. This was a huge step for him. One that he never imagined would happen and, well, he wasn't sure there could be a next step.

Her kiss quickly brought his mind out of paralysis and his eyes refocused. Pressing his lips gently against hers, he smiled into the kiss and pulled her just a bit closer. For body warmth, naturally. It was FREEZING out here and he had given her his jacket. "We ought to get inside before we both catch pneumonia and rumors start spreading," he chuckled after pulling back just a little to rub her nose with his own.

She wouldn't say it out loud, but Dora was finding the first year to be pleasantly amusing. She had no earthly idea why he was flapping his arms, and could only assume that he was pretending to be a bird of some sort, but it was amusing to say the least.

"Sure. It's an easy spell." He would learn it this year anyway, so why not go ahead and teach it to him? She kept moving the boy around. "Would you like to learn now or after you're done flying around?"

Expecto-Penguin 06-29-2014 12:14 AM

For Louis!

Kace was really into exploring more of the Astronomy aspect of this castle. Hey maybe this is what he wanted to study? It was pretty cool. He loved looking at the stars and just learning about the world. He was exploring and came to this room. He was amazed by the beauty of it. He loved the little pool in the center and all of the benches. He decided to sit near the pool. He dangled his legs on the side of it. Aahhh it was quite peaceful in here. He could do some artwork. He got out his sketch pad and began to draw the scenery of this place.

Now that was a HARD question to answer. Which one would be better? Continuing to fly round or learning how to make people fly around. He kind of wanted to fly around forever, arms flapping and everything.

But SHOWING people that he could make them fly around? Well they'd always be surprised and have no doubt at all that he was a Ravenclaw.

"I'd like to learn now please Miss Dora!" Kyroh even STOPPED flapping. See? So ready to learn.

The tower patch certainly was becoming a more and more of a special place, wasn't it.

Though the little rub upon her nose with his was as cute as it was chilly. Goodness was that her nose that was so cold? Or his? It didn't prevent a smile from appearing however, a soft chuckle escaping her as she reluctantly pulled away a bit more to take his hands in hers. Quite chilly out, if anyone didn't know, and she had no gloves on. "Oh, ve vouldn't vont that. You know, my order of exotic phoenix maharaja chai oolong tea just arrived yesterday. Could varm us up if you vont to try it."

Or just, standing inside would have been better too, no matter how marvelous it was to come up to the tower patch in the first place.

Oh sweet solstice. Were those her fingers or icicles? Or had he somehow managed to hold his own hand in the process of moving? All signs that it clearly was time to head inside. Now.

"That sounds perfect right now," he said through chattering teeth. Even if the name was really long, it had tea in it and that was good enough for him.

Taking what he hoped was her hand in his - he knew it wasn't his own at least - he began to lead them back inside with the promise of tea helping him move.

Lou hadn’t been here in a while. He kind of missed this place; it held some nice memories for him, and it made for a wonderful reading spot, with its serene atmosphere and breathtaking view of the grounds below. So it was no surprise the boy was carrying his latest literary acquisition under his arm as he walked onto the snow-covered ground of the patch.

Louis was making his way over to his favourite bench when he spotted a familiar head of blond hair sitting by the fountain - Kace. The Puffanova. With a grin, Lou put his intention to read on hold, and walked over to his younger friend instead; it had been a while since he’d last seen him.

“Mind if I ask what you’re drawing?” asked the Gryffindor as he approached Kace and peeked over his shoulder at the sketch pad the boy held. With a chuckle, he proceeded to greet him more properly, “Hey, mate.” He sat beside him, though he chose not to dip his feet in the water. It was a little too cold still. “Doing alright? I haven’t seen you in months.”

As Kace was in deep concentration, he jumped a little bit when he heard a familiar voice. He turned around and grinned. "Hey mate!" he said standing up and giving him a one armed hug. "Yeah I am doing alright. No interesting news happened. I can say the same mate, where have you been these past months? Were you hibernating in your dorm?" he asked.

Now back to his drawing, "Oh I was just sketching out the landscape here.." he said pointing to his sketch pad. "It is beautiful here. It is a work in progress though.." he shrugged. It was nice having his friend back and talking to him.

This icy, frigid, snow-filled virulent winter is beginning to esclate toward blizzard levels with a polar vortex wind chill suddenly sweeping the grounds on top of the already high snow drifts. Brrr! Best get indoors now before the snow covers you to your frostbitten nose! It looks like Hogwarts may already be in the process of being snowed in....

OOC: All grounds threads will shortly be locked in light of this snowpocalypse. You have about 24 hours to finish your RPs and get in the castle!

The Narrator 07-04-2014 02:29 AM

The icy wind that had been whipping around Hogwarts seemed to chill the students to the bone. None of this outdoor cold would be able to permeate that great warm fortress, surely. But even if it did, the snow was coming down in such great volumes that no one inside the castle would be able to get out.

Enjoy your close quarters, kids.
