Welcome to The Room of Serenity. Professor Morgan has taken Professor Elwood’s Tea Room and transformed it into her own special places. Feeling that the best way to appreciate and really practice the arts of Divination is to clear the mind of all other thoughts and be in a place that opens up your sense Professor Morgan has decorated in her favorite warm purples, light blues, and lavender scents. You will also hear relaxing, but stimulating to the mind instrumental music playing quietly.
The room is set up with round tables to work alone or with a small group, but there are no chairs. These tables are low enough to sit comfortably on the fluffy pillows. On the back shelves you will find any divination material you may need from stones, tarot cards, crystal balls, just to name a few items. You can also find posters and models of the hand for Palmistry as well as many astrology posters. In the front there are cupboards with tea cups, saucers, leaves, and kettles.
This room is for SNAC meetings and projects, but it is open to all students to come in to study or practice Divination. Just please be respectful and follow all classroom rules.
OOC: This room is for students and staff to RP. Please follow all classroom and SS rules. Just because Professor Morgan is not in the room doesn’t mean she won’t hear you.

Adi had been wondering if he bite into a cookie when he heard the all too familiar voice of Cutty. He still had not forgotten the kebab incident in Arithmancy but strangely he wasn't mad about it anymore. "Hey, Cutty. And yes, Professor, you can use my nickname.'' He grinned. See? She wasn't so bad. The subject she taught, however...
And soon more familiar faces were filing in. "Hey, Cris! And...you, Slytherin dude.'' (Grayson). "Hi, AJ.'' Adi waved back to his first year friend.

So, the meeting was starting. Adi listened with interest as the new Professor explained about her gift. He tried to keep his face neutral but of course he was thinking, "Yeah, yeah. Seer powers. How cool. Not.'' How did they know Professor Cassie wasn't making things up?
He kept quiet for a while as he munched on a cookie. He did start to laugh softly at AJ's unicorn question but quickly managed to pass it off as a coughing fit. Ehem. Right. He raised his hand. "Footprints of an animal.''

She knew full well she was late, but when she was dealing with a crying first year (had they really not gotten over this homesick thing yet?!) she had no reason but to accept her fate. She'd pass on the excuse if she needed to but a moment after Professor Morgan had started her introductions, the Hufflepuff Prefect peered into the rOOoOoOOoOooooom of serenity and waggled her fingers at the new Professors and the other students gathered there. "Crying first years," she presented as she helped herself to some tea and smiled.
Her gift was knowing what animals were feeling?
Oh, if Elodie didn't know she was a professional in her own right, she would have rolled her eyes and muttered something worthy of a detention. Instead, she sipped at her tea as well as nibbling on a cookie. The others could answer Professor Morgan. Els was too busy enjoying the things she'd been offered to settle down with. Plus she was recovering from snotty eleven year olds.

"I'm doing great, Zander. Thanks for asking," before turning to acknowledge both Adi and Leah's greeting back at him.
Then he immediately turned his attention to the Divination Professor when she began to speak, explaining why she had called the SNAC members to the meeting. Cris had indeed noticed the strange behavior of some of the creatures, especially those that lived in the Forbidden Forest.
When Professor Glendower asked everyone what those posters were, Cris waited for someone to answer but when no one did, he raised his hand and hazarded a guess.
"Professor those are the foot prints of various animals. The one over there, looks like a hoof mark...probably from a unicorn or maybe a centaur," Cris paused to think before continuing.
"Um...From what I know, these prints can help us tell what the animal is thinking or feeling when they made those. I believe the art of divination using this method is called Ichnomancy."

More people had arrived! Hello, new people! Each one got a friendly wave from Lux as she munched on her cookie. Yummy cookies. And this Professor seemed really nice too. Even though she personally didn't hold faith in the accuracy of Divination, it was an interesting field of study in its own way.
Professor Morgan could sense what animals were feeling? That was rather interesting, and Lux certainly knew what the woman was talking about in reference to the animals acting oddly. She herself and a few other had recently encountered two Unicorns in the streets of Hogsmeade. Then there was that Centaur who had warned them about the harsh conditions and spoke to the Headmistress...
Lost in her thoughts, Lux stayed silent as she poured herself a cup of tea. It wasn't that she didn't want to answer the question that had been asked, she just wasn't sure what to say.
Munching on her cookie, AJ couldn't help but to notice that the professor seemed not only super nice, but that she may be one to get confused. Deciding to have a bit of fun, she gave her sister a knowing glance. "No, I'm Angel... she's AJ," she said pointing to her sister. Hopefully the professor would just think that she overlooked who sat where.
As she listened to the reason why the meeting was called, AJ was not able to hide a snort. Wait a minute? Was she trying to say that she was one of those fortune teller people? "Can you read my palm?" They did that sort of thing, and she wanted to know what was in her future. She could sense animals? "Could you sense where I could buy a unicorn?" Obviously just riding one like a pony at Hogsmeade was frowned upon.
Angel was just sitting there minding her own business when suddenly something her sister said made her look up. "Angel what do you think these are?" she wasn't normally one for causing confusion because she didn't like getting into trouble but well this was just harmless fun and then had done it before in primary school without getting into trouble for it.
"They are footprints of animals I think Professor." Angel beamed as she looked at the Professor this was going to be one interesting meeting now her sister has got to the professor's question before she could.

Hmm, wasn't this Professor ever-so-cheerful. Maybe Culloden should take a page out of her book. Mhmm. But there was NO WAY Zander was going to call her Professor Cassie. That just did not sound right. Nope. Professor Morgan it is.
They were going to investigate? Is there some kind of mystery? WAIT... Okay, she can sense animals.... OKAY. Either this woman was a complete nutjob OR she was really cool. But either way Zander would keep at a distance because uh, weird?
The boy reached out for some cookies, as he continued to listen. He made sure to nod at all the right parts and give a little "MHM" too.... This was weird. But then she showed the picture and oh? Raising his hand eagerly Zander tried to speak. "Mhmhgoomehhm," okay chewing first then speaking... "I saw a unicorn in Hogsmeade! Does that have anything to do with it??" Of course, before he could even do anything the stupid unicorn ran away. HMPH. No fun.

Cutty was being all kinds of inconsiderate inviting Grayson to sit with him. If he did, who would sit her? No no, Cutty needed to come sit with them, there was enough space and she wouldn't have minded at all. Before she could suggest this her attention was drawn by the label given to her. Lex scowled just the way she had done when Collarbin called her that and offered up the same response she'd given the Potions Master. "Miss Cambridge will do, please Professor." None of that Prefect stuff, thanks. It wasn't on her birth certificate and her parents sure as hell wouldn't have thought of it for a nickname. She would have the cookie though and the Gryffindor helped herself to 5...because there was no limit.....right?
"Hey Aubrey." She said, offering a grin to the firstie. That one was growing on her, she was. Very adorable when she had a mind to be.
Food secured, her heart was no longer broken and she could proper concentrate--oh hey Professor Glendower. Lovely lady that one but back to the point. Something about sensing animals? Forgive her for interrupting and she didn't have an answer but she did have a question now. "Does that mean you could, say, persuade animals to trust and follow you as well? Like maybe....up to someone's dorm??--Hypothetically of course." Ahem. Just a question.

She looked between the two girls a bit confused, well umm she knew the one had just sat down, but maybe she miss understood. “Alright nice to meet you both.” She left it at that, but looked at the child again when she asked another question. Smiling at the girl Cassie certainly was going to answer, “Of course I can, anyone who studies Divination, but that is for class time or coming to my office for extra study time. Right now we need to focus on the meeting and topic at hand.” Giving the child an amused look she laughed, “You can’t buy a Unicorn and if you didn’t that would just be very wrong. My gift is to sense what they are doing or feeling, not where to buy one.” She moved on to the next student.
Looking to the other twin she watched and listened. Smiling and snapping, “Very good Aj this is animal footprints.”

Her green eyes looked towards the door as someone joined them. Another Prefect and Hufflepuff. Oh how lovley, she beamed at the older student. “Oh no, I hope they are alright. Don’t worry we just got started. We are looking at the posters and talking about what they are and what form of Divination could help us with them. Grab some tea and cookies and join in.”

Turning her eyes on another first year, she thought it was so exciting how eager they were to answer. “Well, yes and no. You are correct in this club is to understand Divination more, but it’s also to go beyond just classroom things. So it’s to do more hands on things.” Not much made the thirty three lose her happy smile, but the next words out of the first year made her frown slightly and pause a moment. “I’m not sure what’s going on with them. There has just been so much chatter and anxiety.” The chatter was what was giving her the headaches. Quickly putting on her smile again she shook her head, “Oh goodness no I would hope not a dark presence, just something odd is all.”

Hearing what she thought was a mouth filled answer, Cassie chuckled a bit. “I enjoy your enthusiasm, what come again?” Which he did and she listened, “Oh yes.. Yes.. I’m so glad you brought that up. I was in the Three BroomSticks when the three Unicorns decided to come enjoy a day out. I sense them coming and sent Professor Thompson right out.” She hated her little lunch social moment being interrupted, but she was glad he was able to get to them and help them calm.

Miss, so formal goodness. “Alright Miss Cambridge, though if you ever feel like using just your first name we are not as formal around here as some professors might be.” She gave the lion a beam before listening to the rest of what she had to say. “Oh no, no like I said before this is just a sense of actions.” She stopped for a moment, “A few weeks back I was feeling very anxious about the Thestral’s, went to check on them and told Professor Thompson that I sensed them trying to escape for warmer shelter soon. He takes my thoughts very seriously since we are old friends.” She grinned at the girl before moving on.

“Yes.. Yes very good. These three posters are animal prints. The first is a mixture, the second a print from a Unicorn, and the third is actually a raccoon.” She beamed at all the right answers. “There are so many things we can learn just in a foot print. We can know if the animal was hunting, scared, which way they were going, could they possibly in danger. So many things could be involved in the reading of footprints.” Her excitement for the answers and her fabulous subject got her happy snapping away.
Looking towards Cristoff she snapped more, “Marvelous, just marvelous. Yes.. Yes it is Ichnomancy.” She looked at the rest of the group. [b] “Ichnomancy is the form of Divination that involves prints. They could be human or animals and what you do is look for qualities about the prints.[b] Wasn’t that exciting? “Though animal print readings is very different than human print readings. Humans you can find their inner qualities and life spans by their footprints. With animals we look for their movement pattern, hunter or hunting, scared, angry, running, or walking. These things are very important in our mission today.” She wanted to see the patterns that they could find and if they were scared or were they just trying to get to warmer weather.
Moving back towards the last poster she had shown, she stopped and studied it for a second. “This print for instance. I said before it was a raccoon. Now can anyone tell me about the print, or what you think the print is telling you?” She looked around the room for a moment before remembering how many first years she had in there. “Oh this might be of some help.” Flicking her wand a cabinet opened in the back and books moved to each table, opening up to the page she wanted. “As I said before every print is different, so take your time and see what you can figure out about this one right here. Just use these pages as a guide, come up with your own answers.”

Class was called to order as Professor Cassie introduced herself. She seemed to be very perky and enthusiastic. Jasmine had a hard time calling the Professor by her first name though. That was not what she was used to. She'd have to work on that one. Wait........the Professor was a animal whisperer? Oh this meeting should be verrry interesting.
Jasmine looked at the picture that was being discussed. Clearly it was an animal footprint, but that much had already been determined by multiple classmates. What they would be using it for, Jasmine had no idea. It was true that the animals were beginning to behave strangely. Who could blame them? The freezing cold would make anyone act a little odd.
When Jasmine looked at the third poster, she tried to interpret the raccoon's tracks. Comparing the tracks to the information in her book, Jasmine came up with an answer. Raising her hand, she said, "The tracks seem to be farther apart and the front of the print seems thicker". "I think the animal was running away from something. He was probably frightened. The question is, what was he trying to get away from."

Ichnomancy. Cool. But did footprints really say true stuff about humans and animals? As usual Adi was skeptical. Rolling his eyes, he studied the book which had gently landed on his table. Okaaay then. Let's see of he could do this.
He grabbed another cookie, took a bite and began to study the prints. His eyes flicked repeatedly to the book and then to the footprints as he tried to figure out what the prints were saying. Finally he raised his hand. "Professor, I think it's the saying the animal was out hunting.'' The Hufflepuff lowered his hand as he took another bite of his cookie.

Zander looked at the posters and raised an arched eyebrow. Raccoons have weird footprints. Mhm. He listened as two other students gave their thoughts and in the meantime stuffed another delicious cookie into his mouth. YUM. Maybe they should have SNAC club meetings more often. Yep. With EVEN MORE COOKIES! YES!
This time, he properly swallowed his cookie before making another attempt at answer. "I agree with the running," he said nodding towards the Ravenclaw (Jasmine) "Maybe he was running away from some bigger creature... Or in desperate search of a warm fire place or something." Do raccoons even know what fire is?

The concept of reading animals footprints seemed strange and pretty interesting to Lux. Until now, she hadn't really thought of doing it, but supposed that it seemed to make a certain sense. Of course, she didn't think it was a totally accurate science, but it did make sense that the appearance of footprints could tell something about the animal's state of mind at the time.
Looking carefully at the poster, Lux raised her hand so that she could guess at an answer. "I think that something scared the raccoon away. Probably the same thing that is making the Unicorns and Centaurs leave the forest."
Leah looked at the animal print posters. The animals have really cute footprints! Taking a cookie and biting it, she read the page given out to them. It was really useful as she did not know anything about Ichnomancy.
The Hufflepuff listened to older students give their thoughts before squinting at the poster and saying, "I don't know, I think the back of the print seems thicker." she looked down at the page again before continuing, "It seems like the animal is making quick stops to either find something or go in a different direction." she read. Maybe she was going blind, seeing different stuff from others.

Looking at the poster with the paw print of the racoon, Cris studied it. Then books came flying out of a cabinet, with one landing right in front of him. Pretty nifty trick that wone was, Cris thought to himself as he turned to read what was written on the page that had flipped open.
Then he studied the paw print again, before raising his hand.
"Professor, both prints are close together. I can see that the back of the front paw is thicker, while the rest of the prints are evenly spaced out. It looks like the raccoon has paused in its tracks, to look around before continuing on his journey".
Cris frowned as he looked at the paw print again, before continuing, "Professor from the way it is leaning back, putting more weight on that front paw, it looks like the raccoon is pretty relaxed. If it was leaning more to the front, that could mean that it is poised to run at any moment."
....well at least that's what it looked like to him.

Ichnomancy??? Time to read. Arista studied the book which had landed in front of her. Ohhh soo...Nope. She read over and over and then slightly nodded she guessed she was starting to understand.
She grabbed another cookie, she deserved one after reading and thinking so hard! Her eyes flicked over at the footprints and after staring and thinking and staring and thinking, she raised her hand ready to answer. "Professor, I think that the animal was just minding its own business." Not expecting for its prints to be used in a Divination Lesson! The Gryffindor put her hand down and took another cookie again she so deserved it she had answered the question.

When Cris' girlfriend greeted him, the shade of red Damian's face acquired could put a tomato to shame. He glanced at Cris, grinned sheepishly, and turned back to Jasmine, Princess Jasmine. Was she a princess? Because she sure looked like one. "Oh, hello . . . Princess," He said, realizing that he hadn't said anything in a while, and waved at her. "Errr . . . sorry, I meant Jasmine." And he blushed all over again. Grrr.
With everyone being so nice to him, Damian could cry. He could. Really. Buuuut, he decided to be a bit less dramatic. Sooooo, he settled with a grin for Zander, profuse blushing for Leah, and the fellow Slytherin (Cutty) recieved a thoughtful expression, head-nodding, and, "Like manners. I have them." No cookies until Professor Morgan approved. Gotcha.
Class started, the first question was posed, and all Damian did the entire time was stare thoughtfully at the Professor. Every time he opened his mouth to contribute, someone else would give a much better, plausible answer. They were certainly not here to help Professor Morgan's search for her lost pet, like he initially thought upon seeing the footprints. Paw prints? Footprints? Never mind.
Moving on to the next set of questions, Damian delved deeper into his thinky thoughts. Ooooh. Okay. From what he could gather from the book, the prints were close together, and heavier on the back. "Umm. . . I think Mr. Raccoon was looking for stuff to hunt. . . searching and hunting?" Pleeeease, let him be right. Pleeeeeease.
Lucy looked at the poster and she said:"Professor..the back of the print seems thicker..
It seems like the raccoon has been stopped by something that perhaps has appeared suddenly and he didn't expect..something that has scared him.."

Okay so she was totally going to come to her office to get her palm read. Maybe she could drag Angel with her and see how different their futures were going to be. AJ had no intention of getting extra study time in, she just wanted her palm read. They needed to be on the same page on that one. The first year frowned when this professor said that she couldn't have a unicorn either. What was up with the dream crushing professors here? She WOULD get a Unicorn... bet that would come up in her future palm reading.
Oh look, AJ was getting credit for answering questions correctly. SCORE! She winked at her sister. This was nice. Maybe they should trade names more often. AJ turned her attention to the poster and decided that the prints were boring. "Looks like it's food crazed." Yup, she just knew that the animal was looking for food. That is exactly what her footsteps would look like so she knew!
Angel just realised that AJ was getting the credit for her answers, well okay as long as AJ didn't get detention as Angel because that would be so funny if it happened, who would be the one to turn up to the dentention. "I think maybe the animal was scared by something as the back footprint is a bit thicker than the front." Angel knew when she got scared more weight went on the back of her foot.

Grayson's blue eyes flicked over towards Lex immediately. He liked both of these people's companies. Really. One was his Slytherbro and the other was his favourite Prefect. Sooooo, he did the only thing he could think of that would make everyone happy.

Grayson had completely missed the first question since he had reached over and grabbed a cookie to nom on. He knew what it was: a footprint. An animal footprint, at that. There was no need to repeat what the others had said. Besides, he was far too busy trying to decide if these cookies were good or not.
Which they were. Jeez, how had he suspected these bad boys before?
As for the Professor Cassie's next question, the Slytherin was going to answer that. Uh huh. Sooooo, after some careful consideration, the boy put his cookie down and raised his hand in the air. "Maaaaaybe it was looking for something. Maybe something was going down and it got suspicious and it didn't WANT to be heard, which is why the footprints are heavy. Maybe it was moving slowly, too. The investigator of the raccoon world, this one might have been." Uh huh. He had this Divination thing down.

Sophie took another bite of her cookie as she studied the poster they were currently discussing. Divination wasn't exactly her strongest suit, but she would at least throw out some wild guesses. She was really good at wild guesses. Actual Divination, though? Not so much.
Her eyes moved from the poster to the informational page the professor had provided. She read it over, trying to piece a few things together. She sloooowly raised her hand. "The front print is thicker in the back, and the back print is thicker in the front," she said. Ohh--opposites! "So I think the animal was running. Maybe it was doing like all the animals in the Forbidden Forest, because...the head centaur said they were all leaving for some reason."
She shrugged. Maybe they were going to do like the birds--head south for the winter. She was suddenly picturing a herd of centaur sunning on the beaches in a tropical climate. Heh.

Cassie couldn’t help all the happy snaps that the students were getting. She was so excited for all their wonderful tries and answers. It was great to hear them really think about what they were doing.

Raising her hand, she said, "The tracks seem to be farther apart and the front of the print seems thicker". "I think the animal was running away from something. He was probably frightened. The question is, what was he trying to get away from."
“Hmm interesting, nice thought process, but if you see here it looks as though these are a bit closer together.” She pointed towards the two paws. “I would certainly say that this paw has the front more dominate in the print, so very good.” Jasmine got a big smile and snaps for her explanation. “Very good questioning, if it was running, why was it running. We will get to that more in a moment.”

Explain a little more even, but his answer got him happy snaps, because he did come up with the hunting on his own.

Lex was getting some snaps too. Yes she had been quiet, but her answer was very interesting. “We don’t know if they are being scared out of the forest though. With this winter they could just be trying to find warmth. The cold that is making it snow like crazy and freeze everything, is also harming their way of life. Food, shelter, all areas of where they live. So they might be scare, but they might just be looking for food or a warmer place. That’s why I want to study their tracks a bit to see what we can find out.” The chatter and anxiety is what she was really trying to find more on.

Class started, the first question was posed, and all Damian did the entire time was stare thoughtfully at the Professor. Every time he opened his mouth to contribute, someone else would give a much better, plausible answer. They were certainly not here to help Professor Morgan's search for her lost pet, like he initially thought upon seeing the footprints. Paw prints? Footprints? Never mind.
Moving on to the next set of questions, Damian delved deeper into his thinky thoughts. Ooooh. Okay. From what he could gather from the book, the prints were close together, and heavier on the back. "Umm. . . I think Mr. Raccoon was looking for stuff to hunt. . . searching and hunting?" Pleeeease, let him be right. Pleeeeeease.

Her fingers were going to be hurting after all the snaps she was giving with these fabtastic answers. Did she have great students to attend this meeting or what! The next first year to talk got snaps as well. Another hunter, well these kiddos were just doing so well. “Hunting could be a great answer, but what in the print tells you this?” It was time to get these students to elaborate more.

Looking to her sister as she answered, Cassie smiled, “Another scared of something, interesting, very interesting. Nice eyes with the back thicker.”

Giggles is what came with the snaps Grayson got, his answer was priceless in the Divination professors eyes. “Very creative, Nes, I mean Professor Glendower I think we have someone that would get along with the arts very well.” His answer was brilliant, so super creative. “I would love if this little guy was an investigator. Oh could you see it!” How adorbs would that be! “Very good thoughts about the thick prints. Wonderful!” This was just all so exciting.

Her green eyes moved to the young lady. She was very observant. “Yes.. yes.. exactly.” Her snaps were a bit more frantic with this one. “The prints are a bit different in that way. Good eyes, very good eyes. Your connection is very bright as well. It could be that they are leaving just as the other animals.” She hadn’t seen the birds in so long. That was so weird not to see the birds.
“All of you have such wonderful answers. Now there are two things you need to know about this print. The first thing is raccoons have different feet. Like us their front paws are shorter, look like hands almost and their back look like feet. So if you look at this print it is actually one of each. The front is actually the back paw if you see it’s longer print and the back is actually the front. So it seems the print was made as it was walking. As some of you said the first paw the front looks thicker, whereas the front looks more even. When the front was made it could be that it was just looking for something, but was startled and took off when the back was made. Raccoons will eat almost anything, making them okay hunters, but they aren’t ones to stalk food, like other bigger hunters. So while hunting could be something, it’s very unlikely. The second thing you need to know about this print is, it wasn’t here are Hogwarts. I have had this print for a few years now.” She beamed at the ones that related it to the Unicorns and the Centaurs leaving.
As she was turning back to the poster Cassie stopped a moment and shook her head. “Oh no you don’t you little rascal.” She giggled and turned her eyes on the other adult, “Professor could you please go over to the back cabinet in about a minute and retrieve Aries, seems he’s planning a scratching date with my furniture.” Looking back at the poster like that didn’t even happen, “Now let’s look at the unicorn print for a second. Since we will be moving this outside and you will be looking for some of our very own animal prints to help figure out our little mystery, I wanted to just talk a bit about it. Since the horse family has hooves and not paws the print weight will be a little different and actually easier to figure out. Why do you think that is?” She asked looking around, “and what can you tell me about this Unicorn Print?”

Sophie suddenly came to the conclusion that every single professor was trying to freeze them into a block of ice before the school year was over. It was cold enough up here in the towers, but--the outside? UGH.
She looked at the next print provided and tried to come up with something to say about it. Why did she think this one would be easier to figure out? "It looks like hoof prints are flatter," she said, raising her hand. "Maybe they step evenly all around, so there's none of that thicker on one end and thinner on the other like some of the other prints." And what did she think about the unicorn print? "Looks like it was standing in one place and just stepped forward with one leg--because there's just one print." But if that was just a piece of the picture then--"Or maybe it was just out for a casual stroll."

Cris listened as the Professor explained the difference between the front and back paws of the raccoon. Very interesting indeed.
Wait, they would be going outside to look for prints? Yay! Everyone would get a chance to be Sherlock Holmes, Cris thought to himself even as he studied the prints of the unicorn. After spending some time, examining the poster, Cris raised his hand to share his thoughts.
"Professor, the hoof marks are easier to see because the indentations are different. I think that's because the higher part which is the easier part to see is actually the outer outline of the hoof and that comes into contact with the snow, while the middle part is actually the inner and hollower part of the hoof, which barely makes any contact with the ground and all. So there isn't a very deep imprint. More like a raised one."
....at least that was what he was seeing from the poster. Cris made mental note to study the hoof prints of the winged horses when he next visited the stables.
"As for why there's only one print, it could be that its hind legs were standing on rocks and one of the fore legs is raised above the ground," Cris shrugged as he thought of the various possibilities.
