Feel like looking at some stars? You've come to the right place. From here in the Hogwarts Observatory you can see a tiny fraction of the 400 billion or so stars found in the Milky Way Galaxy. This circular but spacious room has been locked and opened as many times as there have been Astronomy professors staffed at the school. The huge telescope that former Hogwarts Astronomy professor, Professor Anteres, had put in years ago is still here and fully operable. Students are very welcome to try and use it. If you need a hand Professor Flamsteed is always somewhere close by and can lend you assistance. If the giant telescope is too much there is always smaller telescopes stored away in the cupboards around the room which you can borrow and use as you please as well as other astronomy objects.
Large star charts are pinned to the walls which anyone is free to study for own leisure or school assignment. Don't try and take the charts down though, as they are charmed to warn if somebody tries to remove them.
Stargazing is an activity best practiced at night and therefore the observatory remains unlocked. Students adhere by a curfew and after that hour no students should be found out of bed. If you desire to study the heavens after curfew, you need a signed note from Professor Flamsteed showing that you are allowed to stay up after hours. If caught after hours without a signed note you can expect that there will be consequences like loss of house points or detention.
The observatory is place for scientific inquiry much like the library is a place to immerse yourself in books, since it’s a shrine to our massively beautiful universe. Please respect any teacher or student spending time in the observatory by not running around or shouting in high pitched voices. Just because Professor Flamsteed isn't currently in the observatory doesn't mean he isn't watching what is going on.
OOC: you do not HAVE to RP your character asking permission from Professor Flamsteed in his office before posting here after hours and may pretend that you received permission. Also, please keep in mind that while looking at the stars can be a romantic endeavor, that is not the purpose of the observatory and any mischief may result in points being deducted or detention.

With his hands stuck in his pockets, Simon entered the Observatory. It was way too frigid to walk outside so the Slytherin had decided that the perfect place to go would be the Observatory. He had his fingers crossed, hoping that it would be fairly quiet. And it was.
He took a seat and then just admired the stars, wondering if there was such a thing as life on another planet. It was highly unlikely but the thought kept him quite occupied.
His arms immediately snaked around her waist the moment she leaned against him, drawing her even closer to him. These were the moments that Michael loved the most with Zahra when it was just the two of them simply talking and taking comfort in each other.
"Well it managed to get rid of Peeves. Obviously it depends on the person." Michael was sure that it was only their families that had a problem with them kissing. He took Zahra's lead though and decided to worry about that later. And he couldn't help but laugh, he had been waiting for that comment. "Aww party pooper, I was thinking Myrtle could do with a good snog."
Bwahahaha! Michael gave her a small poke with his finger. "And you're obviously doing it wrong. When you throw a punch, you need to put your body into it." He kissed the top of her head. "Do you want me to teach you?"
"You would think that. But tell it true. You just want to go about kissing a toilet, Toussaint." ....haaahaaahahaaaaaha Zahra grinned and if snuggling could be smug- this was it. Smug Snuggles.
Or it was smug until he said THAT, KNOWING it would RUFFLE HER FEATHERS.

Michael raised his eyebrows waiting to hear what the point was but apparently she didn't have one and he was about to laugh at her again but she stole it away with her lips. He held her close as he returned her kiss and while he would have loved to stay there all night snogging, it was getting colder by the second and he was a little worried that Peeves might come back.
So with great reluctance, Michael gently pulled his lips away from hers but his arms remained around her waist. "You make a really good point." Hehe.

"Do you think the stars look like snowflakes too?" Ellinia asked. He looked really into the stars and all so she was just curious. The lion tilted her head slightly to the side and sat down a little bit away from the boy. Boys had cooties and germs after all.

Ellinia's eyes went wide and a bright cheery smile spread across her face. "THEY DO?!" She did not know that stars looked like snowflakes in real life. She squinted really hard up at the sky. Nope. There was the sparkly resemblance but she didn't see the unique design of each flake in the stars. Honestly, from here they all looked the same but they were sparkly and Ellinia liked that.
Did she like the stars? "I like snowflakes." Because they were more or less the same thing right? "Do you like snowfakes?"

"Ohhh Lux and I were curious to star gaze. Well I brought up the idea and Lux went along with it. I always wanted to come here up on my own and look for constellations. As nerdy as that sounds coming from my mouth.." he grinned.

Gosh, this was so funny. Giggling, Lux looked between Bay and Kace. At least her friend was being a good sport about being scared, only giving Bay a light punch. Her boyfriend had some serious ninja skills because he could be so very quiet when he wanted to surprise others. "Crazy day? What happened?" The way he said it sounded as if he had been having a bad day. That made her sad.
"Maybe the second best thing ever," she added as she hugged him back tightly. She could think of something that was the best thing ever and figured he was thinking about that too. The kiss on the cheek made her BEAM, and she was so happy that he was here with her and Kace. He always made things better. "Want to join us looking at the stars?" she asked once Kace had explained what they were doing here.

"I guess its not too crazy but it wasn't fun.. not like my normal days when i don't' have any classes… man being a sixth year is great because i get some free time.. which is meant for studying but ughhhh" he barely studied during those times.. mostly hung out with all his cool friends.
Thank goodness the conversation had changed he wanted his mood to stay with the fun that they were already having. "star gazing eh.. that sounds like fun.. do you think I can join you?" he liked doing that.. plus stars a pretty but he won't be saying that out loud… thats for sure.

"its nothing cucumber" he hugged her shoulders…. "everything is better now" hanging on her he nodded as she said the second best thing… yupp… she got that right… "I sure do…" he said as he was glad that he was offered. even though he pretty much was going to stay anyways… "so what do you want to find first.. or you guys just looking to see what is out there"

This first year seemed rather excitable about snowflakes and stars. It was nice to see someone so excitable about the stars up above them. "Some of them do just how they're shaped. You'd have to go all the way up there to see it though. They both do sparkle in the sky," he said with a kind smile. His blue eyes wandered across the sky and he found Mars. He frowned. Gurion had been correct. Mars wasn't looking as bright as it normally was. He dismissed the thought from his head because he didn't want to bring up that worry in a conversation with a young first year. Oh yes, that would not be good.
"I like snowflakes, but I don't like the cold. Snowflakes are sort of magical, y'know? And the winter is just menacing here. I'm more of a summer person," admitted Simon as he thought of all the warm weather that his family would be having back home in Australia. They'd be on the beach in the hot sun. That was the life. "I'm Simon," he said to the little snowflake girl. Yes, introductions would be good.
Kace waved his hands, "I mean honestly, what do the teachers think we do in our free time? Have our noes in the books? Pshh nooo. We are doing awesome things." he winked. "Oh course you can join us mate!" he nodded. The more the merrier! I mean they had enough telescopes! He was fixing his up with Lux's help. Ellinia didn't know how the boy knew all of this stuff. He must be an oldie one. She stared at him though because he knew a lot about stars that looked like snowflakes. Like... he knew they both sparkled in the sky. "I know stars sparkle. They twinkle like snow. That's why the song about stars is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," Ellinia said proudly with a smile. She tilted her head back up and stared. Stars. Shiny. She liked the shininess. A lot. Glancing at the boy she wondered what was wrong. "Is one of the stars not so shiny? "He's my Lion. RWAR." Eyebrow wiggle. "I have no idea what planets are out right now, but I want to see Saturn!" Raising her brow at the two boys, Lux snorted. They were so silly sometimes. It was hilarious. She was also finding them totally adorable. "Oh, you two get a room together." Giggle. It was funny so she winked at them.
Now it was time to look at the stars!!
Gazing through her telescope, Lux was having trouble finding anything. "I think my telescope is broken... Everything is black." Little did she know, the lens cover was still on. Oops.

He could tell already that Allison and her would get along. Both were so little and so cute. And this young girl was really smart too. When she had asked him if one of the stars wasn't so shiny, he nodded. He pointed to Mars up in the sky. "You see that star up there. Well its not actually a star. That's Mars and it hasn't been shinning as strongly lately. I don't know what that means." He frowned. Only Mr. Centaur knew and Gurion hadn't informed them.
He raised his eyebrows. 70 degrees Fahrenheit? Merlin. SIGN HIM UP. He'd move the whole of Hogwarts to wherever she lived in a heartbeat if he could. So where did she live? Paradise? Yes, it was most likely paradise. Palm trees, beaches, surfing, cricket on the beaches... Probably not cricket on the beaches but probably the other three happened. Anyway, that was besides the point. Simon was getting rather distracted. "Where are you from?" he asked with a curious grin. He'd want to go live there in a heartbeat right now. A place that was nice and warm all year round.. Perhaps she was from Singapore? It was hot there, right? He snorted. "Loony boy? Who's loony boy?"
"That's a really cool name. Eh-lee-ni-uh. Huh, it's a pleasure to meet you, Eh-lee-ni-uh," he said trying his hardest to correctly pronounce her name. It was much tricker than his own. "How do you spell your name?" He blinked. There was obviously an 'e', followed by a 'l'... but was the next letter an 'e' or an 'i'?

"yeah mate… she called me her lion" he confirmed as Kace was telling them that he calls Emmy his little panada… alright a little too much information there.. but it was all fun… "cool dude" what was he going to say to that. Hearing Kace talking to Lux about planets he moved his dial around to find the big dipper…. while still keeping the conversation.
"yeah same here I'm surprised i got so many owls… my mum and dad were really excited.." OH MAYBE THATS WHY THEY BOUGHT HIM PIZZA…… when Lux and Louis were over during the summer. he never really thought about that before.. he'll have to ask them later.
he couldn't help but snort… and as he did his eye hit the telescope thingy.. "owww" he said.. it hurt but he was totally fine.. "ahahahahah Kace and I get a room.. your too much" he said to Lux as she said that everything was black…. and he noticed her eyes widen as she figured it out… "awwwwwwwww" thats all he could say to that.
Scanning the skies was fun with this group… and…… "I FOUND THE BIG DIPPER…" he said excitedly. "do you want to come look at the lat and long to find it?" he said as he moved away from his telescope… he didn't want to say it out loud because he didn't really know how to say the directions or what ever they were called.

Oh, gosh. This was embarrassing. "I'm an Aspiring Astronomer and I can't take the lens cap off." SNORT. That was actually kind of funny when she thought about it. What wasn't funny though was Bay banging his eye into the telescope. Wincing, she hoped he was okay. "I'm sorry, Bay. Want me to kiss it better?" What? It was a valid question, and it was her fault he had got hurt since she had made him laugh.
Awesome! Big Dipper had been found! While Kace asked what the coordinates were, Lux opted for going over to Bay's telescope and looking through it. "Wow, that's so cool." Now she needed to figure out how to find it on her own once that lens cap was off. "Okay, so how do I figure out coordinates? I usually just randomly look through the sky." Yep. That was her system.
