Default The Kitchen

Directly below the Great Hall is the Hogwarts kitchen, complete with five tables identical to and directly below those of the Great Hall. Numerous house elves have returned and are busily working, always working, on the castle's next meal. They're surely willing to serve you a snack though, if you ask politely enough.

OOC: Please do not RP for the House Elves! We have a lovely group of actual elves who would love to RP with you if you will please be patient.

He almost slipped himself trying to help the lady but, but Kyroh didn't because he was strong and everything. And he had a chocolate mustache. Grrr.

Once the Headmistress was up, Kyroh shuffled around and peered at her bum. Yup. Peeves had gotten her too. Sigh. Just when he was starting to think Peeves attack was over he managed to get someone else without even being in the room.

That guy, was GOOD. Or bad....it really depended how you looked at it. "I have no clue miss. Cause you're right- we're baking a cake in there-" The first year pointed over to the stove that they were using. No cake being baked in their bums, but in the stove, okay thanks.

Dash's boy? "Yeah! I am!" Kyroh puffed out his chest, and tried to make himself taller. It didn't really work too much because he was pretty small as it was. Though PUFF! All proud like, cause YUP! That was him.

She knew him right? Cause Kyroh had seen the Headmistress a couple of times. It was hard to forget her with the red hair and all. Though his papa did have a lot of red haired friends. As for who Maddie was? She was Maddie. Duh.

Wasn't the Headmistress suppose to know things? "She's the birthday girl!" Maybe she didn't know that either?

"I don't think you CAN bake a cake in your bum, Headmistress." Maddie gave solemn looks and then shrugged her shoulders. Maybe there was a spell for that if she REALLY wanted to try. Maybe.

And WHY was the red head looking at them like that? Maddie made it a point to stand up NICE and TALL and she kept eye contact the WHOLE time. She wanted to make sure the Headmistress remembered her, MHM!

Maddie didn't KNOW Kyroh's dad's name was Dash but she nodded her head all the same at the woman's question which was GOOD cause Kyroh confirmed it a minute later so she was RIGHT to nod! HEH. Smart, Maddie was! And Dash was an interesting name. The small brunette wondered WHY he was named that and where it originated from but she could ask LATER.

"Maddie Cooper, Ma'am." The birthday girl smiiiiled up at the woman and STUCK her hand out for a shake but THEN realized it was kind of chocolaty so she WIPED it on her pants before sticking it out AGAIN. ALL CLEAN!
They were baking a cake, hmm. Presumably a birthday cake, for the birthday girl? "I see," Bunz mused, hiding a tiny smile at the kids and completely missing the bum check-out. And look at how proud of his dad Cairo Kyroh seemed to be. SOMEBODY had to be proud of him, she supposed. She had to refrain from ruffling his hair. "You certainly grew some since the last time I saw you," she said nicely.

Merlin, maybe she had conked her head on the floor. Being nice to children. Who did that?

"I would certainly hope not... and do not try that, now," she wagged a finger at the bum baker girl. She eyed the girl's proffered hand, debated refusing it, then let out a sigh and an audible, "all right." She shook Maddie's hand. "Pleasure to make your acquaintance. How old are you now?"

And where was the milk? "Kyroh, when will your cake be done?" Maybe she should stick around for it.

She was laughing? Was she laughing at him?! He freaking well hoped not. Which was then confirmed with what she had gone on to say. "Uh huh! 'Xactly! I think I prefer the harsh truth over fluffed up sympathy, anyways." Besides, you needed the harsh truth from time to time. You needed someone to tell you that you're being an idiot. Oh jeez, they really were the overly brave sort, weren't they? It wasn't a bad thing. They just needed to be careful and whatnot. "I get why with the thrill it provides but what else is in it for you?" According to history, some had a reputation of jumping in and playing the hero. "Sounds like you're really proud of Head Girl Cassia."

LOL. LOOOOOOOOOOL. "You broke her wand?!" Oh MAN. He knew how it felt to have your wand broken -- the shock the OUTRAGE -- but the idea of her breaking someone's wand was down right HILARIOUS and he couldn't stop the bought of laughter bursting out of him. "Oh man, that's one to tell future generations about," he said, once he had finally stopped laughing long enough to talk, "Bet that taught her a thing or two." And even better was the fact that she had gotten suspended. Smirk. "If someone told me that I'd meet a Prefect who had gotten suspended at the age of eleven, I'd have said they're trying to pull one over me. How long was it for?" That mattered because if the suspension was for a day or two, that was seriously lame. Just like scrubbing a rug, to which he scrunched up his face. "If it wasn't for the ice cream, that would have been a really lame detention." Really. Oh jeez. Oh DARN. Had she just............ she had. She really really had. "Way to outsmart me, Cambridge."

Grayson grabbed two plates and set them down on the table before placing two slices of bread on each of them. Wait. Hold on. Jun? JUN?! The boy he had met back at Diagon Alley? "Oh yeah?" Oh this was good. This was VERY good. Smirking slightly, he reached over and grabbed the jar of mayonnaise and a spoon. "I'd say that's a good thing. You don't want a pet that's like a doormat to the other animals." He opened the jar of mayonnaise and was in he process of opening it when she had said those three words. Before I leave. What the-- "You're leaving?!" Excuse you, Cambridge, who told you that you could do that?

If she didn't know any better she'd think her kneazle was gearing up for sleep but he wasn't. He never slept with her in the company of others until he'd made up his mind about said company. The fact he wasn't rubbing at Grayson's leg said he was still undecided. This was better than his claws coming out in full decision mode. Yup.

Were she a little less composed her jaw would have gone slack and her mouth would have hung open. This guy....was quickly working his way up to one of her favourites with the way he thought. "Definitely. I don't like sugar coated things. The truth works better for me. It irks me when people bring delicate sympathies into things trying to 'make me feel better'." It never worked and you think they'd realize this by now. 'Sides, couldn't insult people who deserved it if you were working on being fancy and nice about things. His question took some time to understand. What else was in what? The adventures? "Well....nothing I guess? It's knowing you CAN and that you did it that gets me going. Rewards are neat too but they happen after all the epic things are over." And was that even a serious statement?? Of course she was uber proud of her bestie, shown with the solid nod she gave in response. UBER PROUD.

There was a stubborn and proud look on her face at his next question. "Of course I did. Back then I had noodle arms. Popping her one wouldn't have been nearly as satisfying." No. When you were the littlest, you had to find other ways of making things hurt. Ways that wouldn't hurt you too. "I'm positive it taught her a thing or two. She never messed with me after that. Tried begging me to forgive her too and kept apologizing but that was pretty much whatever." Lex didn't care for apologies, especially not the excessive kind that left you in an unforgiving mood. Merlin! Lex BEAMED, perhaps too proud of her....er...accomplishments. "Careful Whitlock. You're gonna make me start feeling like a hero for that stuff." Though it might have been too late for that by now. "I think it might have been a month or two but I can't remember. All I know is, I was back in time for Winter Break." And the time home and had seemed like forever. Lex wasn't looking for a repeat, not when she knew better. The Prefect waved off the outsmarting comment, finding it hard to remove the grin. "Years of experience Whitlock." YEARS. And years of being lied to and outsmarted too but she wouldn't mention that.

The 'oh yeah' followed by the smirk peaked her interest. "You know him?" She asked, setting Felix on the counter again and leaning onto it herself. It was sandwich making time and she might not have been keen on making them but she was always keen to watch. The thought of Felix being anyone's doormat amused her, it really did. "That'd be the day. I have yet to see a pet he's scared of--though I think Dora's Jarvey comes close...not sure." THAT thing was vicious. Lex watched him working at the jar of mayo and found it curious the moment he stopped without actually getting it open. She blinked at him. "I am....--but not just yet. After this year runs off I've got one more to leave my mark and chart new territory." Lex didn't know how she felt about that and it wasn't something she'd been thinking about until he went and mentioned it.

Interesting that they both played Quidditch together. They must have had a lot of fun!" Quidditch was always fun though, but that was besides the point. "What positions did they play?" She herself would probably be Chaser. Maybe Seeker, but she wasn't sure she could handle all the pressure. Beaters used bats, and she honestly didn't like the idea of intentionally hurting other people; those Bludgers had to be really HARD.

Lily's next comments made her giggle. At least they were both in understanding as to why it wasn't really a good idea in class. But then most smart people would be able to come to that conclusion themselves. "Especially in Transfiguration. I've never had a Professor who was so strict before." Professor Bellaire sure loved her rules. "There was this one boy who I think wanted to kiss me, but I didn't let him even try." That had been over the summer holidays. "Last term I kissed four boys though! Louis, Donny, Theo, and Bay." Honestly, she wasn't sure how well known this all was.... Besides the Bay thing since that had made the Aparecium.

"That's very true," she added in response to both points that her friend had made. "It seems rather difficult to me, but I definitely understand the importance of it." Definitely not something that was hard to grasp. "We had an easier wall to do and Professor Botros to help us. We worked as an amazing team. The only issue was the Whomping Willow waking up." But when it came time for her to do OWLs then NEWTs, Ancient Runes would definitely make her nervous. Dunking another cookie into milk, Lux was a little surprised that Lily never picked up Quidditch. "What position did you play the times you tried it?" Merely her being curious; there was no real importance to the matter.

The fact that Lily was basically agreeing to visit Florida with her was exciting, but there was no way she was going to take Willa's side on this. "She doesn't know him and doesn't want to bother to get to know him. She was rude to him when he was trying to be polite, and told me that he is going to leave me for someone else when he Graduates." Maybe she could understand the fact that this was sprung on Willa and that wasn't a good thing, but there was no way she was understanding her sister's side to this. If she had gotten to know him and decided she didn't like him then, it would be different because at least she would have tried first. Though honestly she had a hard time picturing anyone disliking Bay after getting to know him. "I hope she comes around. He is very nice."

Taking a bite of her cookie, Lux nodded in agreement with what Lily had to say about Harry Potter. He added to the legacy, but he wasn't the ONLY key player in wizarding history. He had helpers along the way, and other people had faught in the battle at Hogwarts - people from every House. "I never heard about Hermione being a hat stall, but it makes a lot of sense since she was so smart. She was smart and really brave, and without her help Harry Potter wouldn't have been able to do a lot of the things he had done." Not saying that it was ALL her and that she was the only help he had gotten... But she had a HUGE impact, and Lux looked up to her.

The curiosity about her aunt and uncle was a little surprising to Lily, although she knew Lux had already known at least something about them. At least, she’d known about her uncle, anyway, but there were moments when she wondered if the younger girl had forgotten their conversation last term, which had led to the birthday gift she’d given her last summer before she’d left for Peru. “Not really. I think I’m the first person in my family in a long time who’s come here and not played Quidditch,” she replied, shrugging slightly. She didn’t know if her grandma had played, but aside from that everyone had. “I’m sure they did. Considering my uncle still plays.” That was a hint, to see if the other girl remembered. “My aunt played Beater most of the time, I think, and he’d played both that and Chaser,” she added. It was still amusing to her that her tiny aunt could have managed that.

The giggle had confused her for a moment, still thinking about her aunt and Quidditch, but after a second she’d realized it had been for her earlier comments about where it might be appropriate to hit people. “I’ve never thought of her as strict,” she said thoughtfully. Professor Bellaire just wanted them to be the best they could be. Even to the point of appearances. Although, given the statement that had followed, she wondered if there was another reason Lux had disliked the Transfiguration professor’s rules. “Why’d you do that?,” she found herself asking. She couldn’t even say she’d ever done that, considering she had only ever kissed two boys and she was older.

At least that discussion hadn’t lasted long. She’d nodded slightly at the agreement to her points about curse-breaking, anyway. “Mhm. Of course, for the most part I don’t think knowing how to do that is really important unless you go into that as a career, but it’s useful,” she commented. On the odd chance you had to break a curse. She’d never really understood Ancient Runes anyhow, even if that had been the most difficult part. It was all difficult to her, and she wasn’t looking forward to that exam at the end of the term. She’d blinked at the abrupt change of subject, however. Back to Quidditch. “I was a Chaser, but it never really worked out,” she finally answered. It was a bit difficult to play when you didn’t like flying, after all.

She hadn’t been taking sides in the debate over Lux’s boyfriend, either. It seemed like Lux might have thought she had been, but she’d just been saying she could see the point. “I don’t agree with that. She should have at least tried. It’s not easy dating somebody older than you, though,” she replied, trying to explain her reasoning. “Not that my experience is anything like you and Bay.” The only way that could happen is if Bay had suddenly turned jealous and accusing, and from what she knew, that didn’t seem likely. “So prove her wrong. Then maybe she’d have to at least try to get to know him.” Just avoid springing surprise visits, because in that respect she did still understand how Willa had been trying to protect Lux. It was a big sister thing.

From difficult siblings to historical figures. Their discussion really did seem to be covering a lot of topics. She’d read a lot about that part of Wizarding history, though, so it was something she could talk about. Even if she sometimes felt as if the stories were biased toward certain people, like Harry since he’d been ‘the Chosen One’ and all of that stuff. He’d had a lot of help in accomplishing what he had done. “I don’t know if she was necessarily a hat stall, but it sort of shows how people could have been in more than one House. It’s not like someone only has traits from one over the others.” Which had been the point all along, even if it had gotten sidetracked by the idea to research hat stalls.

"I have? I have!" Kyroh agreed excitedly. "But I still have to grow more because I'm still small enough to fit under beds and stuff. Maddie DID understand what Kyroh was saying about the bed business. SHE DID. She was ALSO wondering if they should find a bed to have their SECRET MEETINGS under SINCE older kids couldn't really FIT under there with them! That meant less chance of being discovered, right? She'd HAVE to run that by him later when they didn't have such important company, mhm!

The small brunette was trying VERY hard not to roll her eyes at the Headmistress. OF COURSE she wasn't going to try and bake a cake in her bum! That was silly and BESIDES who would want to eat bum cake? The whole REASON to bake cake was to EAT it and making one with your bum that no one would eat was counterproductive! Waste of chocolate TOO!

Giving the Headmistress's hand a FIRM shake, Maddie BEAMED and stood up NICE and straight. "I'm TWELVE now, practically a TEENAGER!" A TEENAGER WOMAN PERSON THING. Did she KNOW what a big deal this was? Oh and she eventually let the old older woman's hand go because she'd need THAT to wipe the flour from her bum at some point. YUP!

No, no, nooooo. Kyroh, you don't CORRECT such a powerful ally! Maddie looked at him out of the corner of her eye and then focused on the Headmistress. "I'm trying the whole sharing thing now so YOU could have some, if you wanted." PAUSE. "Unless you're too busy doing super important Headmistress stuff."

Grayson eyed the creature carefully, almost watching to see if it would pounce out at him. His eyes raked the feline's paws, just to see if the claws were out and flashing. HMMMMMM. Curiosity got the better of him and he turned to look at Lex to ask, "Does it like being petted?" What? He had to know.

He knew it. He knew that Lex was cool. All the proof was RIGHT THERE. Move aside Hippie Nigel, there was a new favourite in town. "Me neither," he said, shaking his head, "'Xactly! It's better to know the harshness and get it all over with in one go. Then you can move on." Nod. It was just better that way. And it was good to know that Lex thought along similar lines. Er, okay. What kind of answer was that?! Not that it was bad but the Slytherin failed to understand the meaning. Maybe this was why the two were in different houses; while the Gryffindor was all about danger and whatnot, Grayson was all about looking at what's in it for himself as well. He also wasn't risking his neck for just anyone. "I guess........" he said slowly, "Is it about the pride and self satisfaction?" Those were things he could understand.

At the mention of her noodle arms, the fourth year had half a mind to look over at her biceps but something told him that she'd pop him one if she caught him looking anywhere near her chest. SIGH. It was a difficult world. "Smart," he said, nodding at her, "Besides, you took away her most valuable weapon: her wand. There's no way she could have topped that." There was no way to come back from that. "Brilliant! Honestly, I don't think you could have asked for a better reaction." It was a GOOD one. Uh huh. The sound of being a hero didn't really appeal to him but then again, with the way she was beaming, it might have been a good thing to her. "That's not such a bad thing, you know." And it didn't happen often, mkay? This complimenting thing. "Not bad. No one can say no to a month away from school. You must have missed a lot being away, though." Important things like the drama. Maybe fights. Little things but kind of important. "Touché," he said, smirking at her.

Did he know Jun? "Uh huh! We met at the owl store in Diagon Alley." Nod. "Didn't seem to like them, actually." And he was going to assume that she knew him too otherwise she wouldn't have mentioned his name. "Who in the name of merlin is Dora and why does she have such a cool pet?" Because JARVEYS. They SWEAR. Freaking Merlin, he wanted one! Just like he wanted Lex to stay, thought he was never going to admit that. "Oh," he started, turning his attention away from her and focusing on opening the jar of mayonnaise, "That's kinda close." Opening the jar with a click, he focused on scooping some out and avoiding her gaze to the best of his abilities.

-----------------------

Eventually they came to the kitchens, the third year was glad when they came to a stop. He really had been beginning to wonder if it was worth the long trip for the snack...and the company. Taking a seat as Aubrey suggested it, Ben half-shruged. "You don't have to. Somethings you can do on your own and others you can ask politely. Or they might assist just because." Admittedly he himself didn't spend THAT much time in the kitchens.

"Not the greatest," he answered lowering his gaze to the counter, his arms crossed and resting on the surface.

Hmm... well AJ was hungry, and it didn't look like any elves were going to pop up anytime soon. "I'll be right back." Without waiting for an answer, AJ ran off in search of treats. Before Benny could really miss her she was back. "Okay, so I snagged us this." She laid the assortment of pies and fruit out in front on Ben. "Help yourself. Of course if the elves do show up we can get more." AJ just grabbed what she could, and didn't think too much about what she got.

Welll... that's wasn't good. She had a pretty good guess that he was upset about the Adi and Angel thing, and here she was bringing it up. Well, not that particular problem, but it was bound to bring up memories. "I'm sorry." She didn't really know what to say to that. The first thing that came to mind was 'that sucks' buuut she didn't think that was very sympathetic.

The first year couldn't wait any longer. Benny was not one for small talk, and the longer she made him sit here and talk about fluff he was surely going to get tired of her. "I'll get to the point." How did she say it? "What do you think about my sister Angel?" She was pretty cool right?

"I have? I have!" Kyroh agreed excitedly. "But I still have to grow more because I'm still small enough to fit under beds and stuff. Not that that's a bad thing about that, because its actually kind of cool, just that usually only little kids do that." And he was getting older so that meant that was something he shouldn't be able to do right? She understood what he meant right? MADDIE UNDERSTOOD RIGHT?

And LOOK. She was all being official and shaking the Headmistresses hand too. Maybe he should have don that? It was too late now though.

"It's Maddie's cake." Kyroh corrected. Duh she was the birthday girl. "I don't really think you should be making mistakes like that ma'am. Because you're in charge of the school and really important and stuff." Just saying. He GRINNED. "And twenty-five minutes?" He was guessing.

The small brunette was trying VERY hard not to roll her eyes at the Headmistress. OF COURSE she wasn't going to try and bake a cake in her bum! Alright, good, no bum cakes. Bunz's warning was a cautionary one, because one never knew what new trends kids would try these days. First with the earwax jelly beans, next with the cake bums...

Anyway. "Maddie's cake, ohhhhhh, I see. Quite right, can't be mistaking first years for seconds and all that." Bunz wasn't even mad she was corrected, she was still just... slightly amused. She released the girl's hand after a firm pump and tried not to laugh at her little shenanigans. "TWELVE. Why you are almost a woman, Maddie!" Probably! "Is the cake how you're celebrating?" Or were they going to hide under beds?

Kyroh's explanation of his growth reminded her incredibly of her own son. "And you're not a little kid?" she asked him intently. "Maddie here is TWELVE already, Kyroh. How old are you?" Only eleven? Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff. Hehe.

Oh she was TRYING the 'sharing thing' now? hah. Bunz's eyebrows went up slightly. "I should like to see this sharing thing in action, then." NOPE, NOT BUSY AT ALL. She'd come here for a glass of milk and she wasn't leaving until she got one.

Zander did most of his eating in the Great Hall and, his parents always sent lovely care packages with plenty of food. So there really wasn't much of a reason to come down here. But as a third year, he was "too old" for care packages. So he had to find chocolate all by himself.

"Oooh you can!?" Zander's head perked up immediately, almost like a dog that was just shown a treat. Thank goodness she was willing to help him because truthfully, he had no idea where anything even was. "Woaaah," his eyes opened wide at the site of all those cookies. There were so many to choose from! "Definitely the classic chocolate chip, but those ones with the sprinkles look so yummy too," he said pointing to the rainbow sprinkled ones sitting in the corner.

"They look amaaaaazing," or maybe it was just because he was really hungry? Nah, they were totally amazing looking. The house elves at Hogwarts are the best. Mhmmm. Though he was too embarrassed to admit it, Zander was actually SO excited to eat them. COOKIES ARE THE BEST, okay?

It was funny how nervous the boy next to her seemed to be. After all he was just in the kitchens and it wasnt even after curfew? Not like he was looking through forbidden books or stealing. Aww the young ones. „You've never been to the kitchen on your own before?“, the girl raised an eyebrow,“ did you just transfer or something?“ That was not possible, Vinnie had been here numerous times, cause midnight snacks and all that.

The Slytherin leaned on the counter and laughed as the boy's eyes grew all big. The cookies did look amazing. They probably were the reason she came here most of the time. „Just take two then“, she grinned,“no mummy or daddy or anyone can tell you not to.“ Another advantage of being at school, you could eats as many sweets as you wanted.Yum.

Vinnie took a triple chocolate and a chocolate chip cookie and pushed herself up onto one of the counters.“Your turn.“

Woah. Twelve WAS practically a teenager! Maddie was basically an adult now! She was BASICALLY a complete grown up. So that meant she had to know more stuff about STUFF and it kinda of made Kyroh nervous. She'd still be his friend if she was almost an adult right? YEAH! She had to cause they were allies and stuff!

Haaad he said something wrong? Kyroh just grinned. CAUSE IT WAS BODDIE'S CAKE SO SHE GOT TO DECIDE WHO ATE IT! Even if you WERE the headmistress. You couldn't just sneak your way in. Nope.

But...the Headmistress had mistaken them? Kyroh blinked and looked over at Maddie and then down at himself. She knew he was a boy! How could she mistake them?

"No. I'm not." GO ask his papa. Just GO. He'd tell you! "Uh.....eleven ma'am." Was that a bad thing? Kyroh didn't think it was a bad thing. THAT DID NOT MEAN HE WAS A LITTLE KID! "But it's not bad 'cause turning eleven got me my wand." He pulled it out of the holster. SEE wand! "And it's also why I'm here." BECAUSE he had turned eleven see? "Plus! I'm almost twelve too. And I have a mustache." Kyroh POINTED to the chocolate made mustache on his lip.

The only BAD thing about sharing was that it was going to take so long for the cake to bake. "Do you know any spells to make the cake baking go faster Miss Headmistress?"

RIGHT? She was SO close to being a woman she could practically FEEL her heels aching from those stupid shoes woman-people wore. YUP! "Just cake, Headmistress. But not just ANY cake, CHOCOLATE cake!" CHOCOLATE. Did she KNOW how good chocolate cake was? IT WAS SO GOOD. The brunette smiled from Freckles to the red head and bounced slightly on the balls of her feet. Maybe birthdays weren't so bad after all. Maybe.

"He DOES have a mustache." Maddie nodded seriously because boys with MUSTACHES weren't LITTLE KIDS. "And his birthday is SUPER soon! I'd tell you HIS birthday, Ma'am, but he made ME guess. I think that means he doesn't like to make it easy for people so I won't make it easy either." NOPE. She'd let Freckles remain all eleven and mysterious or whatever.

SHE WAS STAYING! On the inside Maddie was FLAILING but her expression remained neutral cause fangirling over the Headmistress might seem LAME and she definitely wasn't THAT. She DID smile a little, though. JUST a little.

"OH! That'd be cool. IS there such a spell?" Maddie's big brown eyes focused on the red head, full of hope and hunger cause CAKE. SPELL TO MAKE IT BAKE FASTER, PUH-LEASE.

Zander's cheeks were flushed in slight embarrassment. He was such a noob. "I, uh, yeah," he had to think hard for a good not-super embarrassing explanation, but he didn't really have one. "I didn't figure out how to get past the portrait until recently," he let out a small chuckle. He was humiliating himself in front of this older girl and it was SO embarrassing. "Who knew, it was just a tickle of the pear?" Give him a break. It is a little strange, as are most things at this school.

"So do you come down here, like, all the time?" He wondered out loud. She was such a professional food getter. Such a natural. Must have some practice. "Because I think it's one of my favorite places now," the Gryffindor admitted. Take two!? The thought hadn't even occurred to him. But wouldn't the houseelves miss them? Would they want him to take two? Is it okay? Is it even allowed? BUT OKAY. If she insisted. The third year reached his hands into the jar and took, not two, but THREE cookies. Chocolate chip, sugar cookie, and a chocolate one with colorful sprinkles.

"Bon appetite!" He smiled and took a huge bite out of the first cookie. "Woaah, this-this is amazing," he had, had the Hogwarts cookies before, but something about this one was different. Maybe it was just knowing that he could have however many he wanted. Or maybe it was the fact that he was out so close to curfew. Or maybe it had something to do with being in the kitchens. Freedom tasted goooooood.

With a mouth full of chocolate chip Zander looked at the girl, "Oh yeah, um, I-er don't think I ever caught your name!" he smiled. "I'm Zander, third year Gryffindor," he said after he had swallowed his first bite. The chocolate was a bit melty so he had managed to get some all over his fingers, as well as a bit on his nose. How he managed that? Who even knows?

There was no way to come back from that.

Lex grinned at Grayson's question, glad he was finally taking more interest in her baby kneazle. "You kidding? He's all about comfort. Use to abandon me on the train if I sat with Aidan on account of his legs being bigger and more comfy than mine." But it didn't bother her because at the end of the day she knew where he loyalties lied.

It's like the boy had gone inside her head and was quoting everything he found in it. "I think me and you are gonna get along just fine Whitlock. Nothing but truth between us, yeah?" So if at some point she had a problem with him, he could expect to hear about it and not in writing either. That just wasn't her style these days--or at all. At first, she didn't think he'd understand the motive behind an adventure and she could see the gears turning in his head on the matter but at the last minute, he got it!! "Exactly! Pride and satisfaction. Proving to yourself that you can. Sometimes proving other people wrong too and that's satisfying in itself too." What? She liked being right.

"Yup, should have seen her after I nicked her wand. Girl was in tears, bawling almost. She wasn't very smart though, she kept threatening me while crying, like that was gonna make me give it back." Some people made no sense and that girl was one of them. It was true too. She couldn't have asked for a better reaction, in fact, he'd have gotten looks for anything less because at 11 Lex had proven the point that no one was going to walk over her just because she was little. She shrugged at his deduction. "I did miss a lot, a couple Quidditch matches, the only friend I made, DADA lessons--only class I missed by the way." Because who wouldn't miss being able to learn how to hex people silly? Was it any wonder it'd become her favourite class as quickly as it did?

Oohhh....owl shop. Weird considering he ended up getting a ferret. She never took him for the type to really like birds and it was good he didn't either because of Felix reasons. "Interesting." That was all it was though. People met people all the time. "Dora's the Ravenclaw Prefect. You must have seen her around even once, right? I dunno how often she lets him out but you can ask." And then it happened. He had gone quiet after noting the short length of time left and wasn't even looking at her. Then again. It might have been because he was so focused on the sandwiches. Those took concentration. "Stills lots to do in all that time left, you know."

Waiting he could do, after the long jaunt from the common room Benny could use a break. Besides Aubrey had been the one to suggest going for a snack so she looking for food already when he had just given in. Though he had to admit the pies she came back with certain looked yummy, so much so that he couldn't help but help himself to a slice of the nearest one.

Oooo....blueberry.

But the happiness was sort lived as they talked about life and how things were recently. She appologized at his negative remark and Benny couldn't help wonder what her sister had told the girl about what happened. Didn't siblings, especially those close like triplets, tell each other everything? He just shruged absently, paying more attention to the pie since he really didn't want to talk about THAT.

But Aubrey wanted to get to the point and then she mentioned Angel, asking him about her. What was that all about? he mused to himself as he found himself picking at the remnants of his pie. "She's nice," he said, not sure of what else to say.

Was that getting to the point enough?

Snacks made everybody feel better, and open up right? Wrong! Apparently the tasty little pies and fruit that she had literally brought to the table did nothing for Benny. Finally he took a slice of blueberry pie. "Nice choice." AJ shot him a warm smile hoping that it would translate to him that she was not the enemy, and she could lend him an ear. Of course she was here about Angel, and she would have to tell her every little detail that she got from this conversation.

Come on Benny, throw her a bone. After what felt like centuries he finally spoke. She's nice, she's nice? That was all that he had to say about this? That would have been enough for AJ. She wasn't the type to dwell on things and had to know the meaning of EVERY.LITTLE.THING. However, Angel was that type and she would not be happy if all she had gotten out of Benny was the fact that he thought she was nice. Not wanting to have that conversation with her sister, AJ tried to dig deeper.

"Help me out here Benjamin." Surely he knew what she was getting at even if he was trying to skate around it. "What do you think about her? Are you guys just friends? Would you like to be something more?" Whoops. The cat was already out of the bag. Yeah, so she sucked at this. Angel should have known better. This was so not her forte.

Benny wasn't the biggest conversationalist at the best of times, with his being shaken by receont events AND talking in a relatively new person was bringing him out as distant. The words not really coming. "Thanks..." he said absently to her comment on his choice. Not that it was that big of a choice. The use of his full name got an eyebrow raise, the mention of help a new one.

What kind of help did she want anyway? Was that why she had asked to speak with him, for them to come down to the kitchens to be in a more alone location than the common rooms could be?

"Yeah...unless she's mad at me," he responded before shaking his head on the subject of something more. In more than one way glad he hadn't been taking a bite at the moment in case of choking. "No...I'm not interested," the third year remarked emphatically, not even thinking along the lines of that type of relationship. The whole ordeal had caused discomfort last term at the Valentine's event.

"Adi's the one who goes looking for girlfriends."

But it didn't bother her because at the end of the day she knew where he loyalties lied.

All about comfort? Grayson raised his eyebrows and looked over at the pet. Heh. He could see this. "It's a good thing he doesn't make you carry it around on a purple velvet pillow." He was joking. Kinda. And he didn't know who Aidan was so he was going to ignore that. "So what would he do if I petted it?" Would it purr or start scratching his eyes out? He needed to know because he kind of liked his eyes just the way it was, thank you.

At the mention of them getting along well, Grayson couldn't help but smirk at her. They really were going to get along well, weren't they? "I think so too. You're not bad company, Cambridge." Probably right up there alongside people like Cutty. Not on the other side of the spectrum with people like Sassy Abbi. "'Xactly!" Proving to yourself that you can do it was important. Dead important. And proving other people wrong? "Oh MAN! Isn't it a great feeling to prove other people wrong? Especially when they're sooooo adamant in saying that they're right when they're clearly not." The satisfaction that came with that really was something. "It gives you a certain level of power over them." Which he liked. Uh huh.

LOL. The girl was in tears? LOOOOOOOL. BAHAHAHAHAHA! "That's DUMB of her. If someone has your wand, the last thing you'd want to do is threaten them. Jeez!" It sounded like it'd work in theory but no. Unless you were scary and whatnot. But really, it didn't work. Nope. They had your most useful weapon, saying sweet things, however fake, would get you out of that. He was sure of it. Not that he had been in that kind of situation before. "Defence lessons are BRILLIANT! Man, all that action! No excessive lecturing." Here's hoping. He had high hopes for Defence lessons. And he was getting side-tracked sooooo he was going to get back on point. "Here's hoping you don't get suspended again." Only because she'd miss a lot and it'd look bad for her.

It was interesting, wasn't it? Possibly. As for this Dora girl, he tilted his head and tried to think about whether he had met her. "Noooooo," he said slowly, "No, I don't think I've seen her around before." Or he might have and not taken much notice. Shrug. "If I meet her, I'll ask her whether I can meet this Jarvery of hers." So thank you, Lex. Grayson was still doing his best to avoid her gaze as he spread the mayonnaise on two slices of bread but, when she spoke again, he ended up looking over at her out of the corner of his eyes. "Oh yeah? Like what?" he asked, closing the jar of mayonnaise and grabbing a tomato, "What do you think of these buggers, by the way?"

Okay, she knew that Benjamin wasn't a talkative guy, and she got it. She really did even if she had a hard understanding it herself. Maybe it was because she had three siblings and they were forever fighting about something that she had a knack for telling when something was wrong with somebody. The first year could read Angel like a book. Granted AJ didn't know Benjamin that well, she knew that something was off. The young lion was in the know about the whole whopping willow issue, but was there something else that was missing? As far as she knew Adi had apologized and all was well... with Angel anyways. Deciding that she had bigger fish to fry at the moment she decided not to ask. He most likely wouldn't tell her anyways. Sparing him one embarrassment she went back to why she had brought him here in the first place.

Mad? "Why would she be mad at you?" AJ was definitely missing something here. "The last I heard you were her savior." Whoops again. That was something else that was probably not supposed to come out of her mouth. It was hard for AJ to not speak what was on her mind. Angel was gunna be furious with her. Then she finally got the answer that she needed most. "Like in her? Or just not interested in anybody in general?" She was officially the worst wingman ever.

Adi? She sure was hearing a lot about him lately. "Are you saying that the two of them should be together? Does Adi like her?" Does she like Adi? AJ was regretting ever agreeing that she would have this talk with Benny. She was screwing it up big time and she was going to have to deliver the bad news to her sister, her very sensitive sister.

Alexa chuckled, sparing her kneazle a glance. It WAS good he didn't require her carrying him around like that, though she didn't suppose it mattered. "I reckon the only reason he doesn't is because the pillow might get more cuddles than him but usually he likes me carrying him. Hates his cage." As she'd come to learn long ago. She couldn't remember the last time she put him in it. Lex placed Felix back on the counter. "He'd probably love you forever until you offend me." She replied honestly, nodding toward the kneazle so Grayson would give it a try. Nothing to lose....except his fingers.

See that right there, that was him proving her right. "I already told you I was good company. Remember? At the Coloured Umbrellas?" She did. Lex had told him his reward was her company and that she was brilliant company. Good to know he was finally agreeing. There was a firm nod of approval for Grayson. Their brains were practically wired together, she was positive. "I've always loved seeing the look on their face--it's irritating while they argue but once you set 'em straight it's pure gold. Personally I like proving hot tempered people wrong. They have the toughest talk and the funnest ego to bruise." Sure they tended to swing at you for gloating but she had hands of her own and they were just as capable of throwing a punch if it came to it. Victory punches were amazing.

"Yeah, don't expect the best logic to come from Hufflepuffs. They haven't been known for it." There were obvious exceptions of course but she'd sat down and listened to them conversing with each other enough to know that sometimes....them being endangered made a world of sense. Honey was always better than vinegar in tough situations. AND HE LIKED DEFENSE CLASSES TOO. There was a promising future for this boy, she could see it already. "I won't be getting suspended again. Nope. Don't think I'd do anything that bad and I'm better at not getting caught...unless I wanna get caught." Sometimes boredom did strange things to you and gave you the strangest craving to get in trouble but she didn't figure he'd understand so she wouldn't go too far into explaining it.

It was a little odd to her but she supposed him being new made it not that weird. Still, how did one not know Dora? Lex found it weird when people didn't know the people she knew because to her they were always there, always had a presence whether she wanted them to or not. "You do that. Don't think she'll mind." Ah and there we go, eye contact again! Now they could get somewhere. "Well....like take a tour of the forest...introduce you to the Giant Squid....dive off the towers with nothing but our brooms...fireworks too. LOTS and we have time to do them." So he didn't have to go looking like she was vanishing after they left the kitchen, jeez--though it was nice to know someone thought of it that way...if he did at all. Everyone she knew would be leaving her, she'd never thought of the people she'd be leaving but that was still ages away. "I dun like tomatoes much. You can leave 'em out of mine."

Not really interesting? Lily's reply surprised Lux. Was she not interested that a lot of her family played Quidditch? Oh well, not everyone was big on the sport and that was something that Lux respected. Just like she respected differences in food preferences. "Yes, I remember about your uncle," she added, recalling the conversation they had in the library last term. It was something that she was not likely to forget any time soon either. "Beater... I'm not sure I could play that. I would be too worried about hurting the players on the other team." Did that make her sound silly? Lux was not sure, but it was how she felt. Quidditch was meant to be played for fun with no one getting hurt.

Professor Bellaire was not strict? That was a new one for Lux. "I think she is really strict. She doesn't let people say hello to her because it's 'rude' and she docks points when students sit down before she says they can." If that wasn't strict, she did not want to know what was. Honestly it wasn't that she disliked the Professor, it was more that the woman scared her a little. Made her worry that she would somehow mess something up unintentionally and get into trouble. Why had she done what? Kissed four boys? "Well, it started to interest me. And they are all so nice. And I kissed Theo at the kissing booth; he's the only boy I kissed who I didn't really know beforehand." But he seemed to be nice enough. "Theo has great hair, don't you think?"

Nod. That was very true. "I guess that could be said for Ancient Runes in general as well as Arithmancy, and Astronomy." Divination wasn't even counted in this, because honestly what could you do with that as a career besides being one of those fake psychics? The subject held a bit of interest to her, but there was no way that she considered it to be an accurate science. "Charms is very useful though, I've learned a lot already there. And I love Potions it's one of my favourites. And I am really starting to like Herbology too." A lot of the classes were awesome in her eyes. Of course this would be her first year studying Arithmancy, and she wasn't the best at Ancient Runes and Transfiguration because they were so hard. Astronomy was something she was getting better and better at though. "Chaser is nice. I wouldn't mind being a Chaser if I played." Yep.

Oh, good. Lily wasn't taking Willa's side in this, as she had hoped. "Why is it not easy?" So far besides Willa being Willa, there had been no issues with her dating someone who was older. Lily's experience made her curious, but that was not the kind of thing to delve into unless the other person wanted to share. This was something that she had learned and respected. "That's a good idea, but I'm not exactly sure how to do that. He isn't a fan of her either... Understandably."

And Lily made another good point. Wow, she was full of those. "That's true. Though I am not sure if I have much Slytherin in me. I think I am definitely predominantly Hufflepuff." She wasn't stupid, so there was some Ravenclaw in her; that went with her love of reading and learning. She wasn't sure how much of a Lion she was personality wise. That totally sucked.

It was nice to know that Lex appreciated humour. Or. Scratch that, it was nice to know that Lex appreciated good humour. There was a difference, clearly. "Quite the pampered kneazle, he is." Love him forever???? Felines could LOVE him? This was rare. "If I get scratched, I'm not going near that thing again." But he was smiling. A little nervously but there was a smile there. Edging closer, the Slytherin reached out a hand and slowly, very slowly, started petting the cat on his head and behind his ears.

"'Course I remember! And you haven't proven yourself wrong so kudos to you." And she took a compliment from a guy who hardly gave them out. Smart one, this one was. What was even better was that she seemed to think along the same lines as him. Interesting. Very interesting. "Freaking YES!" It really WAS pure gold! "Nothing's more satisfying than that look of defeat on their face. Especially if it's someone you really hate. And they always try to rile you up and you can see it on their ratty features that they're losing." He didn't know what to think about the ego part because he for one knew how much of an egotist he was buuuuuuuut he didn't care. Besides, if Lex did something like that, he was probably being a right old idiot in the first place.

SNORT. "Noted," he said, nodding at her, "They're still dead lucky for being so near here." And if they didn't take full advantage of this, he was going to be seriously disappointed in them. The thought about asking to swap dorms did enter his mind but the boy liked being near the Potions classroom too. Dead useful, it was. Plus the view of the merpeople really was something. Juuuuuuuust saying. "Brilliant!" It really was. "There's something satisfying about doing something exhilarating and pushing the limits and not getting caught." You had to be dead sneaky about it, too. "Why'd you wanna get caught?" She was right; he didn't understand that one. Not even a bit.

"Good to know. Thank you." He was definitely going to be asking about that. Maybe even nudge Hippie Nigel on who this Dora was, since they were Prefects In Crime. Later. Not now when he was making a ham and cheese sandwich and they were discussing some very interesting things. He had to be very careful about cutting the tomato because, due to excitement, he could end up cutting his own finger and he didn't want that. "Brilliant!" he said, grinning widely and placing he tomato slices on the bread for him, "Just brilliant!" And now he was facing her and grinning. "I think that calls for a lot more ham and cheese sandwiches." Like a lot. Because freaking merlin, those activities sounded like they were a LOT more fun than sitting around and annoying someone he hated.

Speaking of the sandwich, he reached over and grabbed the lettuce leaves and placed them on top of the tomatoes for his sandwich and the bread for hers. The ham slices went next, closely followed by the chunk of cheese aaaaaaaand the last bread slice. "Your sandwich," he said, grabbing her plate and holding it out to her.

oh well putting his hand in hers he introduced himself "I'm Bay" it was right to the point and true-ish. He totally hated to give out his actual name which was Victor but always by his surname. as she asked him what he recommend "well one can't go wrong with cookies and milk, why don't I get some for us and you go wash your hands" he nodded to her messy hands, she didn't want to put those near her mouth did she?
She shook her head and smiled, "Go ahead and pet Elouan." Melek had to look up since he was so much taller than her. She beamed, "Wondeful to meet you too, Bay!" Mel shook his hand and felt happy. "Cookies and milk?" She blinked, "Okay..." Melek nodded then looked down at her hands. "They arent that messy." Mel giggled and went off to go find a sink to wash up before having cookies and milk with her new friend... or at least she hoped that he was her new friend. She was starting to like new people especially if they are really nice.

Now wasn't THAT the truth? Lex grinned, giving a firm nod. "Pampered to the fault of his owner, yup." Perhaps even more true than the first statement. Sometimes it amazed her just how much luxury her kneazle felt he was entitled to but she didn't mind. Her baby NEEDED comfort. She watched, smile still in place as he got closer and Felix happily rubbed against his extended arm. He knew some ear scratches might have been in order and he was happy to meet them.

It might have more been Kudos to him for being able to see the awesomeness and not missing out on it. He could have said something dumb back at that cafe and she'd have gotten up and walked away and the boy would be branded an idiot. Never to win her favour again. "Something tells me you've had your fair share of proving people wrong." Even more proof he had a brain. You couldn't very well prove other people wrong without one.

Even as he noted her point, Lex couldn't help but wonder whether or not she was meant to feel bad for telling him all the things she did about Puffers but it was all true from what she knew...so how could it be wrong? "Definitely lucky. First ones to breakfast much. And that's if they never had their early breakfast in here." Sometimes a late night/early morning snack just didn't seem worth it when you considered the numerous floors and stairs that separated the lions from the kitchens. Hold on, he could understand the thrill of the mischief but not of getting caught? "It goes back to glory Whitlock. I've got the perfect example. If Headmistress Truebridge hadn't caught me sneaking into her office and trying to eat the sorting hat, hardly anyone would believe that an 11 year old could--but not just any 11 year old. Me." Was it anymore clear now? Recognition suited a Gryffindor well.

THERE WE GO! The smile was back and he was all grins. She took it her proposition was well internalized then and she meant every word of it. So much to show him, so little time. Had to make sure the things she did continued even after she was gone. How many other people religiously searched for the Giant Squid? How many of them actually got to talk to him? Exactly. "I like the sound of that! What else can you throw on the table?" She asked, giving him a nod of gratitutde as she took her sandwich. Her first bite wasn't disappointing at all. Grayson knew what he was doing. Merlin.

CHOCOLATE.

Eleven. That was as she thought, and Annie hid another amused smirk on Kyroh's behalf. "That is quite the impressive mustache," she nodded seriously at the chocolate on his lip. "Seems like it grew there quickly too. Did you have that at the feast?" She was just playing along for once.

Oh dear, cake baking spells? Annie was NOT a baker. In fact, most things she attempted to make (especially for others) wound up burning or exploding in the oven. "Chocolate cake IS my favorite though...." she told the girl, making a thoughtful face as she debated helping the cake along with a spell. Kyroh's birthday was coming up too? "Happy early birthday," she told him quite seriously, tapping one long nail on her chin as she decided on a spell.

"Alright, I'll try to help you help your cake along," the Headmistress declared finally, "but you two have to do the wand work and the incantation." That way, if it DID blow up, she would be able to avoid direct responsibility for the mess. Hehe. "Repeat after me: the incantation is simply augeo." She was pretty certain this could be used for helping cakes rise faster...

Kace decided he wanted to meet Caleb here. He really wanted to cook something. He had been dying to cook something of his own. While he walked down with his own ingredients to make spaghetti and meatballs, he noticed a few people were there. They wouldn't bother him. He decided to have his own workspace. He set up all his ingredients and began chopping his vegetables.
