Directly below the Great Hall is the Hogwarts kitchen, complete with five tables identical to and directly below those of the Great Hall. Numerous house elves have returned and are busily working, always working, on the castle's next meal. They're surely willing to serve you a snack though, if you ask politely enough.
OOC: Please do not RP for the House Elves! We have a lovely group of actual elves who would love to RP with you if you will please be patient.

"I'm hoping to be an explorer when I'm older, and I'm hoping to travel the world so obviously the more languages that I know the better it will be for me." Angel really wished that she could go on one of the adventures now but alas she wasn't allowed, plus she only really knew a few Spanish and French words which wouldn't get her very far.
"AJ and I could help you Professor if you want." Angel then suddenly had a very big idea. "We'll bake two cakes, one for AJ and one for you Professor to take back to your office if you want." Angel still had chocolate and things left over from her cake for the topping. "It's up-to you though Professor."
Explorer? Interesante. That was not the typical job aspiration of a 12-year-old girl. But then again, she was a Gryffindor. "Then I suggest Ancient Runes. You never know what you'll find."
Goodness. These girls REALLY wanted her to ruin the kitchen with them. She let out a long siiiiiiiiigh. "Fine. But the house elves can get mad at YOU, not ME." She waved her wand over herself, saying, "Impervius." It wouldn't do to get anything all over her outfit, now would it?

"Where do we start?"
Angel smiled at the Professor. "It's okay Professor nothing can go wrong." Well Angel didn't think so anyway. "Well first we need flour, butter, egg and sugar" Angel wondered if she should go get them or if the Professor wouldn't mind getting them.
"Oh and the house elves don't get mad, I don't think anyway." Angel wondered if they ever did get mad about anything, she hadn't met a single mad house elf ever.

Domingo made speaking spanish seem so easy. "Do you know any other languages?" Their dad knew several different languages because of his job, but he wasn't always around. "Too bad Hogwarts doesn't have elective languages classes like they do at the muggle schools." A class on learning a different language was something that she would be interested in.
The professor was caving. "Yay, this will be fun. I'm not much of a baker myself, but Angel is really good at it." She paid way more attention to their mum when she was baking than AJ did. It never really interested her. The lion snorted at Angel's comment. Nothing could go wrong if you didn't make Angel mad, but she decided to keep that point to herself. AJ didn't think that Domingo would stand for them to start flinging flour at each other.
"I really want a house elf." Professor no fun said that she couldn't have one though. Bummer. "I'll grab the stuff." It was about the only useful thing she could do at the moment.

Other languages.. besides English, yes? "Fashionista, of course. Never understimate the power of what your wardrobe says." So many people had to learn that the hard way. "And Quechua, naturally." When you grew up around the Andes, it was not uncommon to encounter it.
Despite Angel's assurances to the contrary, and AJ's insistence that this would be fun, Lolita was sure this would turn out to be a big mess somehow. Nonetheless, she sighed as if to say 'Let's get on with it then.' "Allow me, chica. Accio." The ingredients her sister? cousin? twin? has listed off soon flew into view and landed neatly in front of their small group. Also amongst the ingredients was chocolate. Lots of chocolate. Hint hint for the flavor, girls.
Now what? She wasn't going to have to touch the food... was she?

But no, thankfully, no charms or crazy temperatures seemed to have frozen her because now she was talking. Phew.
She seemed to think she was intruding though? That was why she was sorry? Penelope raised an eyebrow a little...and then smiled, amused. "I don't own the kitchen, so you're not intruding. You can stay if you want. S'a big place after all."
Oh....she wasn't intruding..
Well, that was a relief........

Angel looked at the Professor and smiled. "Can you break up the chocolate and melt it down whilst I prepare the rest?" Angel thought it would be cool to make a couple of chocolate cakes, one for AJ and herself and one for the Professor.
"AJ do you want to get everything ready whilst I do the mix?" Angel hoped her sister didn't think that she was commanding her, it was just she loved doing the mixing at home and wanted to do it here.

Well that sounded easy enough to do with a wand. Good start, no touching the food. With a flick of her wrist, she pointed her wand at the chocolate and it soared into the nearest bowl. Another spell caused it to break into fairly equally sized pieces. The third incantation caused the chocolate to warm up and start to melt. Satisfied, she turned to the girls and said, "There. That wasn't so hard."
...but then she smelled something unpleasant. Looking around, she saw a congealed heap of burnt-looking cocoa. "Ay ay ay, no bueno."

Angel looked at the Professor and smiled. "Don't worry Professor, you'll get the hang of it." Angel knew that the Professor would be okay once she knew what she was doing. "The cocoa actually doesn't look to bad Professor." Angel poured the good cocoa in the bowl, she had mixed everything up and she mixed up the cocoa so that it looked amazing. She then put them in two separate cake tins, because of course she was making two, one for herself and AJ and one for the Professor. "Do you want to put them in the oven, whilst I clean up?" Angel didn't think it was right to ask a Professor to clean up the mess she had made.

AJ was kind of paying attention to what was going on around her, but she stared as the professor burned the chocolate. It was something that AJ would do. "Burnt chocloate is actually really yummy." It gave it a nice crunch. All she needed to make the treat complete would be a melted marshmallow. "You don't have any marshmallows, do you?" No matter. Without waiting for conformation AJ scooped up a piece with her finger and popped it in her mouth. It wasn't like they were going to use that part anyways.
Clean up? Had she been sucking on her finger for that long? A suction noise echoed in the kitchen as she pulled her finger out of her mouth. Angel was over there being all betty crocker so AJ hadn't touched any food. "I guess so." It was the least she could do. Grabbing a rag, she wiped her finger off and then cleaned up the countertop. All scraps were put into the trash can, and all they had to do was wait. "Maybe one of you could time it, I'm not so good at that." Things burned because she almost always got sidetracked. AJ already had one cake messed up today, she wasn't trying to go for a record here.

Lolita was sure she would have to start over again with the chocolate. However, the young lion managed to salvage enough to use, much to the professor's happiness. This baking business was hard work.
The next task would be easier. Lolita made several movements with her wand. First, she pointed it at the oven door, which flew open with a BANG! immediately. Then she swished and flicked, watching the cake pans zoom into the heat. With a second point, the oven door closed with a similar noise and the woman dusted off her hands. "There, not so bad."
Next she turned her wand on one of the utensils Angel had been using. Being so young, they likely had not learned how to clean with magic yet. "Let me teach you the most basic charm to make that much faster. The incantation is Scourgify, and the wand movement is an S-shape. Like so," she finished, tracing an S in midair. "Give it a go."

Tinka was busy using her whisk-y friend, oh yes she was. She was good good good at whisking things! But her little elfsy ears perked up. Was that a studentsie looking for something? Hot chocolate?! Tinka could do that, Tinka could!
She carefully laid down her whisk and then zoomed off. Within a minute, she was bustling towards the Ravenclaw with a large, steaming mug of hot chocolate in hand. Tinka bowed and offered up the mug. "Tinka bring Miss what she wanted! Tinka bring Miss hot chocolate!"

Angel was totally happy that the Professor was teaching them a new spell. "Thanks Professor." Angel had totally misunderstood the Professor at the start of the term.
Angel pointed her wand at a dirty bowl and made sure she concentrated. "Scourgify!!" Angel did the wand movement and soon the bowl was cleaning itself. "Your an amazing Professor." Angel was going to finish cleaning up so that the Professor didn't have to work to hard, she'd probably had a busy day.

Lolita was still a little disturbed at AJ eating the burnt chocolate, but she was trying to let that go. Angel had said it was still usable, after all. "Marshmallows...?" she said wonderingly. Did British people put them in their cakes? What an interesting concept!
It seemed that the more culinarily-gifted of the two had picked up on the spell just fine. It wasn't all that difficult, but the topic didn't usually come up in the first year. Or maybe it does at Hogwarts? Certainly not when I went to school. Back to the kitchen, though. "Why thank you, Miss Valentine." She had to agree, she was quite fabulous.
"Keep time? As in this will take awhile?" Because she wanted her cake ahora, por favor.

There was no more burnt chocolate to consume, and AJ had already cleaned her area before the helpful Lolita shared the cleaning charm. As soon as she heard the incantation she smacked her forehead with the palm of her hand. "Duh. I should have known that, we have to use that spell in potions all of the time." It was one of the first spells that she had gotten the hang of. Funny how quickly you forgot things when you didn't use them regularly.
They were going to put marshmallows on? AJ would have preferred chocolate frogs, but sweets were sweets. "Is it going to taste like a s' more?" Because that sounded like good eating.
"Probably like 30 minutes, right Angel?" 30 minutes too long in her opinion. This was one of the many reasons why AJ didn't do the whole cooking/baking thing. "I always end up burning stuff." So if anybody else wants to keep time, that'd be great.
