Was it just her? Or was it a little chilly outside this morning? Seren stood outside the entrance to Greenhouse Eight waiting patiently for the students to assemble. Pulling down on the sleeve of her black work robes, Seren fixed it closer to her skin and held it in the already gloved palm of her hands. Her gaze fell to a patch of grass only feet away where its frost had not yet been disturbed by footprints. At least it would be nicer inside. Much, much nicer.

When Maddie spotted some older kids headed for the door, she hurried after them. Didn't want to miss her chance, y'know. "Bye, Professor. Thanks for the lesson," She called over her shoulder, waving a bit. Then she turned back around and slipped out the exit as soon as the Snargaluff was taken care of.

So the Flesh Eating Fir ate other Flesh Eating plants.........interesting. Well Jasmine had survived the lesson with her flesh intact, thank goodness. Surprisingly, she kind of enjoyed it. Go figure.
Gathering up her things, Jasmine headed toward the greenhouse door. Waving to Cris and Ethan, she said, "Thanks a lot guys." Last task of the day, stun the Snargaluff plants. Taking out her wand, she directed it at the plant and said, "Stupefy". Jasmine looked around to make sure that no younger students needed to exit. When she was certain that the plant was properly stunned and still, Jasmine made her way out the back door of the greenhouse.

Of course Angel would be yelling for the third year Lion. She loved being around him. As for Abby..."I'm sure Abby will be fine. There are lots of older students in there.''
Adi hadn't even realised he was holding AJ's hand and he looked down in surprise when she said something about him wanting it back. He laughed. "Sorry, I didn't realise what I was doing.'' He hoped she didn't mind though. "No problem. You can always ask me whenever you need help with anything.''
"Of course she was." Angel seemed to be quite taken by Benjamin and she didn't think that Angel would appreciate her talking to Adi about his best friend. Her sister had been very sensitive lately and she didn't want to hear anymore drama directed at her. "I'm sure Benjamin will sort her all out then." Abby was a claw so she was sure that she would get out okay.
"You don't have to apologize, it wasn't a biggie." AJ didn't mind at all, she just didn't want to seem clingy by hanging on to him forever. She wished that she could rely on her own wand and smarts, but that would come in due time. The first year didn't like having to rely on somebody else, but if she had to Adi would be her first choice. "Thanks. You know I have tons of questions." When didn't she?
So Flesh Eating Fir trees ate one another. She'd remember that. Anything that was wizard friendly Beverly was okay with (who wasn't?). She got thinking, though, if they made for any potion ingredients. The odd thing -- which Beverly might have not found all that odd -- was that she didn't see these trees as frightening. Sure they could be harmful, but enough to scare her? Maybe if a full grown one was chasing after her.
Lesson was over. Finally! She could go and find her best friend. She had lots to tell him about flesh eating plants. Beverly wondered if he liked them too. Maybe they could read about it in the library. Turning on spot, she made her way out, pausing just before reaching the Snargaluff and directing her wand at it.
"Stupefy!"
There. Now the little ones could pass by without being abducted. Good Karma points for her.
Kace was grinning when Toby got the answer right. Well at least someone from his own house got the answer right. Hufflepuff pride right there. His answer was wrong, Ehhh....he will be better next lesson. He heard the lesson was over and he did learn a lot this lesson. He heard the professor mention to stun the plant on the way out. He didn't want the vines to wrap around him.
As he was leaving he said, "Immobulus!" with a wave of his wand and then the plant was stunned. He grinned and was getting good with the spell. He let the first years go and then he left the classroom, as he left he said to the professor, "Thanks for an interesting lesson!" he smiled and waved his hand in farewell.

Sometimes plants (and creatures, but that was a different class) could be so disgusting. They might eat...themselves? Ugh. Sophie didn'd even want to think about that. She didn't have to either, because class was dismissed.
With her wand clutched to her side, she headed toward the exit. Looking around, she stepped forward, before a few younger students, and pointed her wand toward the Snargaluff. Bentley was awesome--she considered Sophie one of the OLDER kids.
"Stupefy!" she said.
With the way cleared, for now, Sophie walked forward and left the area.

Ethan held his stomach as it began to protest for food. Growing boy is hungry. The Slytherin picked up his things, and gave a wave to Professor Bentley. "Thanks for the interesting lesson, professor." Nod nod. "See you around!"
The snake then turned to where Jasmine and Cris were. "Thanks to you too, guys! See ya!" Ethan gave them a grin and wave and headed for the door. "Stupefy!" Yeaaaaaah. He just loved doing that spell.
Now...how about those blueberry cheesecake...

Norah walked as quickly and carefully as she could to the door, following an older student who had just cleared the way. She held back from skipping though, y'know because of the flesh eating plants and all. She turned back to face the professor and waved, "Goodbye, Professor! Thank you!" Then, she rushed out the door before the snargaluff could recover. Whew.

Glad that she had lost no limbs yet, and that she had learned more about flesh-eating plants, Leah picked up her bag and headed to the back door towards the Snargaluff. Then she paused in front of the professor. "Great lesson, Professor Bentley! I was just wondering why a Snargaluff is guarding the door." And blocking her from getting out.
Of all the questions she had expected to be confronted with, this was not one of them. Seren offered the Hufflepuff a considerate expression. "This is a restricted greenhouse,so it's always locked... I suppose though that's just where the Snargaluff was positioned before I started at the school, and it's quite taken with the spot." I was guarding the exit, in its own way, but it wasn't guarding it from anything in particular. Probably just biding its time, waiting for an unsuspecting soul to enter through the door.

AJ was actually bummed that the lesson was already over. Never would she have thought that she would be enjoying lessons so much. It was dangerous to just leave the class? Wicked! Of course with her being a firstie she would need older kid supervision. AJ already knew who she wanted as her protector. "Adi!" she called out. He was right beside her earlier, but she was staking her claim nevertheless. "Too bad we can't get tangled up in the vines." That would be an experience.
Now this was the question she expected to get, time and time again. "You may... but it needs to be with my supervision, this is a restricted area." And for obvious reasons. Kids had a way of getting eaten if they weren't careful.

Packing it inside his backpack, along with his journal, Cris slung the backpack before heading over to where Professor Bentley was standing.
Cris smiled and thanked the Professor. "That was a very interesting lesson, Professor Bentley. Professor, I was wondering, if it's alright with you, would there be any chance I could come back and feed the Flesh Eating plants again. If you have the time, I would like to practice doing that under your tutelage ," Cris asked her.
As he waited for his answer, he noticed some younger students waiting for someone to help stun the Snargaluff. Walking over to the plant while ensuring that he stayed out of reach of its thorny vines, Cris pointed his wand at it and said,"Stupefy," and when the plant looked sluggish, gave the all clear.
"It's clear to go past it now. Just keep an eye on it. The moment you start to see it moving more, call out and one of us will help stun them again," Cris smiled at the students before returning to wait to hear what the Professor had to say about his request.
The question was repeated, but this time by Cris.. hardly surprising as the boy seemed rather taken with the flesh eaters. "Of course, but I'm afraid it'll be in my company as this is a restricted greenhouse, all visits must be supervised." But yes, yes they could.

A little sad that the lesson was over, Lux went over to Professor Bentley so that she could say goodbye before leaving. "Thanks for the awesome lesson, Professor. This class was really interesting and kind of fun dead rats aside." Because ewwwww. "I can't wait for the next lesson, and I wanted to tell you that I am an honorary Lion!" Giving a little RWAR, she waved good bye to the woman before heading off to the exit.
"IMMOBULUS!" Stunning the Snargaluff, she secured the exit for her and any younger students who might still be hanging around before heading back to the castle.
Aaaawwwwwwwww. "I'm glad you liked it!" she beamed in reply. Though the whole part about being an honourary Lion caught her off-guard. What was that about? "You are?" she asked... though perhaps too late as Lux had already taken to the exit.
Badger, Lion? Honourary? ... She would have to look into this later.

Surely the Snargaluff would let her go eventually? Oh well, now was not the time to argue her point because before she could open her mouth Adi's hand was wrapped around hers and was leading the way. He knew how to take charge and handle business, and AJ admired that. Not thinking into the whole hand holding situation the first year followed Adi and watched as he stunned the plant on the first go. "Nice shot!" She couldn't wait to be able to do that. AJ walked out the back door still hand in hand with Adi still not thinking about it.
Her mind went to her sisters. "Did Angel and Abby get out?" Who was helping them? It was hen that she realized that she was still holding his hand. "I guess you'd like that back." she said in a joking manner trying to make light of the situation while she released his hand. "Thanks for helping me out back there."
"You're quite welcome, dear," Seren replied brightly, unsure if it was Angel or Aubrey she was talking to. She could hazard a guess, but this way was safer.
"Enjoy the rest of your day."

And then class was dismissed. Aw man! This had been a great lesson. Adi looked around as he heard his name being called rather loudly. He tapped AJ on the head lightly. "I'm right behind you,'' he told her. Indeed the third year was standing behind his friend. To Bentley, he called out, ''Awesome lesson, Professor!'' Now back to AJ. "Come on, let's go. I don't think the Snargaluff would let you go easily if you got tangled in it.'' Without thinking, he grabbed her hand with his right hand as he needed his left one for stunning the Snargaluff and pulled her towards the back door.
"Stupefy!'' the third year called out as they approached the plant, pointing his wand at it. Red light shot from the wand and hit the plant which fell limp. "All clear, AJ,'' Adi said with a smile. "Let's go.''
Oh? Awesome lesson? She supposed it was, but then again, she was biased. Flesh eaters were her favourite.
"See you later," she called out, waving goodbye.

Leah nodded. She could understand why it was this greenhouse was restricted, with all those flesh-eating plants. Maybe the snargaluff was one of the reasons that made the greenhouse dangerous. Hopefully it would not kill. "Thank you for the information, professor! BYE-BYE!" the second year waved at Professor Bentley and dashed at the door, where the Snargaluff was still and apparently not dangerous yet.

"No he's not my boyfriend." Angel wished he was but she wouldn't tell Leah that. "We are just good friends and him being an older student, he can help me get out of the greenhouse." Angel wondered where he was.

Leah smirked as her best friend blushed. She was so cute, liking older boys and stuff. The second year could tell, because she had experienced hundreds of crushes only in the past two years. Hopefully that Benny guy liked Angel back, and all that was left was to link them up.
O_o It was weird to stand there thinking about this stuff in a restricted greenhouse.
"Aaah, I see. Just good friends." Leah nodded slowly, pretending to accept the fact. "I'll take it that I'm not your older good friend, Angel." she pulled on a sad face. It was like taking a new pair of jeans out of her drawer and wearing them. She had many types of faces. "Unless you want to wait for your boyf- I mean, good friend, shall we get out of here? Benny will not be happy if you get eaten." Small possibility, though.

Angel looked at her honorary sister, seriously why have that face on, it was like her knickers were in a twist or something and Angel had no idea why that would be they were best friends, or had Leah forgot that. "Yeah, just good friends." Angel said again.
*blush*
"Don't say that wor..." Angel stopped as Leah stopped just before she said the word, seriously why was Leah picking on her. "Oh but I thought you were waiting on someone?" Angel beamed. "If you can get us out of here that would be smashing."

Teasing Angel was fun. She could not do this to anyone else, as Angel was her best of best friend. Still, she had to drop it before her honorary sister got mad. The second year knew by now what a Lion is like when s/he is angry.
"Nope, not waiting." Well she was waiting for someone to help stupefy the Snargaluff but she guessed that did not count. "Sure, and.. ah! That place is safe." Leah pointed at a just stupefied Snargaluff. She grabbed Angel's arm and dashed towards it before it recovered. "Come on, Angel. Better get out before we get attacked by that plant." See? Wait. What? The lesson was over? Nooooo...!!! But she thought they're going to learn more about the Flesh-eating fir. Pout. But all good things must come to an end. After Candice finished gathering her stuffs together, she went over where Professor Bentley was, "Thank you for the cool lesson, Professor." This was definitely her favorite lesson yet.
Now, where was Kyroh she need to return his cloak. The Gryffindor saw older students stun the Snargaluff and she didn't want to be stuck in this greenhouse so she quickly rushed out the door. She just gonna wait for Kyroh outside the greenhouse then.

The third year Slytherin boy was kind of lingering. Something about being in the presence of this many flesh-eaters and dangerous plants fascinated him. A gaggle of younger years, which included lap-sitting Angel Valentine was lingering as well. Presumably, they could not stun the Snargaluff themselves or they would've been gone.
Cutty raised his wand in hand boredly before casting, "Immobulus!". He was about to turn to go but paused to ask a question of Bentley and let the girls pass before him.
"Professor?" He called amidst the demi-choas that comes toward the end of everyclass with students gathering their things, reassembling amongst their friends and the usual post-class reflective chatter. "Will a flesh-eating fir eat other flesh-eating firs?" Like, what does it get from one that it can't get for the other? Or was it like say, a vulture, which although not typically a hunter can and will if in enough need.
Daydreaming in class? Oh no. No no no. What if those fanged geraniums consumed her while daydreaming? Ethan deadpanned at her as the image formed inside his head. He shook his head to shake it off and gave her a warm smile. “Hey, no worries.” He used to not have any friends when he started out in Durmstrang, so he was more than willing to give a helping hand. Friends are good. Yup.
“I have a dog! His name’s Momo. My cousin gave it to me as a present.” He missed his pet and cousin, by the way. “My dog’s a black French Bulldog…and he farts a lot.” Hahaha. “I don’t know why he’s so gaseous…” Ethan scrunched up his nose then laughed. “Well, you do feed your owl, yeah? Only they won’t eat your hand and such, but this is basically the same. The only difference is that you have to distance yourself from them.” He said as he gestured to the plants.
“Hmm. Not really. Herbology isn’t my strongest subject…I’m more of a creatures guy.” Nod nod. “But yeah, plants need some tender loving care too, so I guess that’s what makes this task easy for me.” Maybe she just needs to expose herself more to plants and stuff. Or…maybe she’s not just wired to learn Herbology. Shrug. Ethan watched as the older Slytherin gave the task a shot. “As long as you feed the bush, there’s no need to rescue you…but yeah, I’ll save you when things go wrong.” Ethan gave her a thumbs up and a big grin. “It’s my pleasure to meet you, Vinnie!”
---------
SPOILER!!: Jasmine, Cris and mentioning Vinnie
Ethan turned his attention to the Ravenclaw this time. “Hi Jasmine! My name’s Ethan.” Waaaves for you because he just held a dead rat a few minutes ago with his gloved hand. “Okay.” The Slytherin tucked both of his hands behind him and eyed Vinnie. “Hey, Vinnie! Come and join us over here. You can help water the plants.” She can…cast Aguamenti, yes? Yes.
Jasmine came back with an older boy. Oh heeeeeey. Yeah, he saw him before during the opening feast. You know, when he thought that the Hufflepuff bunch was his house mates? Confusing, that night was. Anyway. “Hi Cris! Yeah, sure no problem. We will be able to finish the task faster that way.” With older students and such behind him…this task will be easy peasy.
Vinnie chuckled a little as she saw the expression on the boys face as she told him she had been daydreaming. He probably always listened...what a good boy. Maybe the brunette should start doing that too. After all it was OWL year...she needed to know a lot. Not just in history.“ Thankfully i got you now“, she winked at him,“ and i promise i will listen now.“ Yeah, be a good girl McFay you need to make a good impression on your new friend.
„Ohhh thats lovely“, the girl nodded,“ so sad you cant bring dogs here. Do you miss him?“ Why were they only allowed cats? What was the big difference between having a cat or a dog? Maybe she could convince someone to have a talk with the headmistress. His dog farted a lot? Snooooooort. „Is it just hot air or stinky air?“, the brunette laughed. This had to be the funniest thing someone had ever told her. What a good way to introduce your dog.“Course i feed my owl“, she nodded,“ i'd be a bad owl mama if i didnt.“ Barneby got a lot of owl cookies, but he was flying a lot so he wouldnt get fat. That would be terrible, a fad owl.
So basically this was like feeding her owl...Vinnie felt a bit stupid standing there like that but why did they have to feed plants that could eat them up. The girl was always in for any ind of adventure...but she didnt chose this. Holding up the rat she swayed it in front of the plant like Ethan did a minute ago...and CHOMP! The plant had eaten the rat all up...in one bite. It would take about three and any student would be gone Probably even West. Eww. „Thanks for backing me“.
Feeding the monstrum: done. What now?! Just as the fifth year was gonna look for the next task she heard Ethan calling her over. That was really sweet of him. Awww. „Yeah sure“, she nodded,“on my way.“ Now watering the plants sounded more like her kind of task. She was good with charms and these ones wouldnt bite her arm off. If she had to lose a limb she'd prefer losing it on a broom or skateboarding.
Approaching the group she smiled and waved“ What plants need watering?“

"That's great, Professor Bentley. I know that you're busy now, so I'll stop by your office and schedule when I can meet up with you here to feed our fleshy friends here," Cris smiled his thanks when Professor Bentley told him that he could work with her to feed the plants in Greenhouse Eight.
Then Cris noticed Professor Bentley watching as some of the students exited the greenhouse and first thought it was because she wanted to make sure that everyone got out safely. It was only then did he realize that instead of stunning the Snargaluff as she had instructed, some of them had cast the Freezing Charm, to immobilize the plant.
"Professor, is there a specific reason why you asked us to stun the Snargaluff instead of freezing it? Did you prefer that it be dopey and disorientated and be unable to attack? As opposed to being partly immobilized and still be able to attack using the vines that weren't immobilized?" Cris asked.
He was really interested to know whether there was a specific reason why she asked to use the Stunning spell instead of the Freezing One.

BYE-BYE!" the second year waved at Professor Bentley and dashed at the door, where the Snargaluff was still and apparently not dangerous yet.
"You're most welcome, Leah," she replied. Watching as she prepared herself to depart. With Angel... and speaking of... Seren turned to acknowledge her too.

"No he's not my boyfriend." Angel wished he was but she wouldn't tell Leah that. "We are just good friends and him being an older student, he can help me get out of the greenhouse." Angel wondered where he was.

Angel turned back to the Professor. "I'm so sorry Professor Bentley, were are my manors." Angel looked around at the plants. "Thanks for the amazing lesson, I've learnt a lot about plants." Angel beamed."I hope I can come and help you feed them again one day." Angel really hoped she could.
Of course she was welcome, her beaming smile said so without saying it out loud. She added a wink for good measure though. They were two of a kind.
"We can definitely arrange that," she replied with a nod. Before offering her a small wave goodbye.

Wait.
"Thank you for coming, dear," she replied to Candice warmly. Such a darling first year... she still wanted to hug the girl, but now was hardly the time or place.

Another immobolisation. Merlin.
...
But never the less, she paused to listen to Cutty's question, having been addressed by her title in that way. She raised her brows slightly to indicate she was listening, and indeed... it was a good question.
"Yes.... it doesn't happen often, but yes."

And why was it that this student was not paying attention and was behind with their tasks?! Seren stared sternly at the Slytherin.
"I implore you to keep up Miss McFay, or else it may be a detriment to your health. Three points from Slytherin for not paying attention, and thus endangering your well being."
OOC: That part of the lesson was finished long ago and they have since moved on. Please use the links in the first post to keep up. Sowwwy.

Come see her to set up a time? She supposed that would work. "Or we can arrange that via owl?... you're not the only one that's interested in a little extra time with the flesh eaters, so I may organise to have a small workshop with them... either way, I'll keep you posted on what is happening." No need to inconvenience him with walking all that way from the castle if it wasn't necessary, though he was welcome to do so if that's what he wished.
As for the stunning, immobolising debacle... "Never underestimate the strength and power of a flesh eater.. it's always safer to stun."
But alas, it really was that time now. They ought to get going if they didn't want to miss their next class.

So there had been a reason after all. It was always safer to stun. Never underestimate the strength and power of a Flesh Eating plant. Cris quickly wrote down what Professor Bentley said in his journal before packing his journal into his backpack. This was definitely a very important piece of information to remember....especially when working with said Flesh Eating plants.
Duh! Why walk to do something when a bird can do it for you?
Cris grinned sheepishly, "Oh yes, Professor. Owl would work fine too. Well I guess I should be headed back to the castle too. Thank you, Professor, for taking the time to answer my questions," Cris thanked his Herbology Professor as he smiled at her.
Securing his backpack over his shoulder, Cris pointed his wand at the Snargaluff and saying, "Stupefy," stunned the Flesh Eating plant. He quickly ducked past the Snargaluff and waited for Jasmine to catch up with him before he made his way out of Greenhouse Eight.

Ugh imagine eating your own kind to survive. That is not okay. That is cannibalism. These trees were cannibals. EW. Zander was so busy staring at the cannibal tree that he didn't even realize that everyone had started leaving. When he turned around and noticed that more than half of the class was gone, he realized it was his cue to leave. Oops. He almost broke out into a run, but then realized how dangerous a misstep could be. So yes, power walking is a much better, safer idea for this greenhouse. "BYE PROFESSOR! See ya soon! It was a wonderful lesson." Okay, it wasn't that wonderful. Mustn't be late to the next class.

"No worries dear... I'll see you later," she nodded, giving the Hufflepuff one last smile before watching him make his way past the Snargaluff.
And then there was one.
There was always one... or two... in this case, just one.

"Goodbye Zander, enjoy the rest of your day," she replied, watching as he hurried off, though she aimed another stunner at the tree for good measure... just to ensure her Lion was safe in his escape.
And alas, it was the end of the lesson, and tea was definitely calling her name. The tidying up would come later.
