When not in use for classes, several of the greenhouses that are located on the school grounds are open for private and independent research and study. In fact, this is highly encouraged.
Within the unlocked doors of the greenhouses you will find rows and rows of plants. The greenhouses contain a wide variety of plants - both magical and mundane. Want to practice your pruning skills? Why not practice on the Abyssinian Shrivelfig of a Flutterby Bush? Or perhaps you want to harvest some Puffapod seeds- just don’t drop them! -- unless you want to of course.
The store cupboards are stocked with all the tools and materials you could possibly need. Trowels, buckets, pegs, twine, fertiliser, spare gloves, spare work robes and a selection of mundane seed and bulbs. If you borrow something, be sure you return it.
Remember Professor Bentley likes to take regular strolls through the greenhouse to check on things. So make sure you wear your protective gear and behave yourselves accordingly.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
After eavesdropping on Lucy and the Professor, Kevin turned around and walked towards the plants. He wrapped his winter robe closer around his body and he inspected the plants and had to pass by the first few already for they hadn't made it. Mweh, who cared? It were just plants. As long as the Fanged Geraniums were okay! Cause those were his little babies. What?
Finding a hanging basket that no one had taken with them yet, Kevin aimed his wand at it and waved it in a V shaped motion "Reducio!" The plant shrinked in size....and then turned back to normal. Ugh... "Reducio!" stupid... "Reducio!" plant! "Reducio!" won't shri--oh there it was!
Finally after a few attempts, the Gryffindor had been able to shrink the flowered basket to pocket size and put them inside of his robe. Well , now it was hurrying to the castle right? He looked around and when he did he spotted Zander...being all weird again. WHAT WAS UP WITH THAT GUY?! one day...one day Kevin would find out! He turned around and saw Cris handing over a potted plant. "I'll take this one!" he said and waved his wand again. Luckily he was better with the Mobiliarbus spell and so while levitating the pot in front of him, and holding the tiny basket under his robe, he sped off towards the castle.

After his friend had greeted Bentley, he said, "Benny! Hey!'' He was there just in time. "I know what we could do. Let's move the unfrozen plants.'' Yep. They could do that. Unless Benny had something else in mind. "Uh, if that's okay with you, of course.'' Adi trusted Cris & Leah would not notice he had deserted them. Or maybe they would. meh.
Benny turned at his name and saw Adi had approached him. At least they were back on normal terms and nothing awkward was in existance. "Hey," he echoed, listening to his friend's suggestion and nodded. "Sure...Its fine by me," the Gryffindor agreed. It didn't seem all to complicated like the frozen plants might be, with extra love and care that would be required to nurse them back if they had any hope. Not that the third year would have minded.
He looked around to try and spot what they could deal with, finally noticing a few hanging plants off to one side. Those had been mentioned in the instructions and by his inspection, weren't frozen. "Good place to start as any...eh?" he mused glancing at Adi as he reached up to unhook it from the greenhouse frame.

Aaaand back to the Greenhouse. There were definitely more people here now. Had she been gone that long? Didn't seem that way but the numbers didn't lie--and would you look at that a task board...had that always been there? Fancy that. Lex got a little closer to take a look at it because surely transportation wasn't the only thing the Professor needed help with.
Potting the plants didn't sound like such a good idea if she was being honest. It was a recipe for breaking plant roots while she dug away at the ground like there was no tomorrow. The board did say they were in a hurry.
Actually, by the looks of it, transportation really would be all she was good for. It was easy enough--wait...they were meant to but the plants inside their coats? But her box could be warm, the others didn't freeze inside the box on the way to the Great Hall. Plus they were likely to get squished in her coat. Perhaps she just meant...don't leave them exposed to the elements? That she could do so the Gryffindor conjured another box, this one with thicker walls just in case then turned to the plants again. "Reducio." Gettin' 'em nice and small for transport again before fitting them snug in the box and closing the lid like earlier then cast another "Mobiliarbus." and she was off.

Cris looked up in surprise when Kevin volunteered to take the pot he had just repotted the plant into. "Hey thanks Kevin," Cris grinned up at the young lion. He had to admit that when this boy wasn't talking in a loud voice, he was a present decent chap. Laughing to himself at the difference a class made, Cris returned his attention to transferring another Flutterby Bush from the flower bed into its temporary pot.
Gently lifting the bush up by at the base of its trunk, Cris transferred it, along with its root ball into another pot, added more soil before moving on to the next plant. Once he had a few plants transferred safely into pots, he called out again,"I've more plants here to be brought up to the castle," Cris gestured over to the six pots.
Quickly glancing around, Cris smiled appreciatively at how everyone, despite their differences, had banded together as one in a time of emergency. With their help and luck, Cris hoped that they could save as many of the plants as possible.
More pots...I need more pots. Cris quickly picked up his wheelbarrow and pushed it back to the supply shed and placed more empty pots into it before wheeling it back to where he had been working. Cris then proceeded to examine the plants for survivors, counted the number that require larger pots before proceeding to magically enlarge the empty pots.
"Engorgio," Cris waved his wand in a circular motion and watched an icy blue stream of light enveloped the pot and it began to grow larger and wider. Cris ended the spell, saying "Finite" before repeating the Engorgement spell again over each pot until he had the number of pots he required for the larger plants.
"I have some bigger pots here for those who are helping to re-pot the larger plants," Cris called out to anyone who wanted them.

There were plants that needed to be re-potted. Penelope put soil in a pot, and loosened the soil around the roots of the plant that she was moving. She gently lifted the plant and carefully lowered it into the pot. Once it was in the pot, she covered the roots with soil. The plant was ready to be moved. "Mobiliarbus!" Penelope guided the pot with her wand. She took the pot up to the castle.
After bringing the pot up to the castle, Penelope returned to the greenhouse and started on the next plant that needed to be re-potted.

Emergency plant protective services! Perhaps that was all Mo was good for as a seventh year - emergency this and that and taking NEWTs at the end of the term. Perhaps also he was good at following around first years, attempting to will them into good behavior. Whatever it was, Mo was here and willing to do his part.
Which was what, again? Following the lead of those around him, Mo knelt by the nearest untouched bed and started to carefully transfer the plants into pots. It was important to loosen up the soil and roots with his hands, opting to avoid using a trowel in case it might damage the root system. It took him a while, and he got fairly dirty, but after moving the first few plants, Mo got into a system and was quickly able to repot his entire row.

Then chugged down an entire glass of milk. It was after that very delicious snack that she let the news sink in.
And she was out in her boots, avocado-green parka, mittens and beanie in a matter of minutes.
Reaching the greenhouse, she almost slid on some ice. Almost. Where was Professor Bentley? Beverly reporting for duty. Yes, sir-ma'am!

Kyroh was back! The good thing about running was that it warmed him up even more! The first year made his way past the new group of people who had arrived. Everyone seemed to be focusing on the BIG plants and turning them little. But what about the little ones? WHAT ABOUT THEM!!?? He looked around and noticed a corner with very small cactus things-no Mimbulous Mimbletonia!
He was about to grab two and start running again but then noticed the levitation charms happening. Kyroh watched the Gryffindor prefect for a bit. HE COULD DO THAT TOO!!!
He was going to start trying when a Slytherin grabbed his attention. Kyroh pulled down his scarf covering his mouth so he could talk. "The plants are gonna freeze so we have to take them to the great hall. Those people-" He pointed to the older Hufflepuff and helpers "Are potting the plants that aren't in pots. So you can help them or help move like me." SHE COULD BE ANOTHER SIDEKICK! Kyroh grinned at her. He grabbed two small Mimbulous Mimbletonia and held them out for the girl. Was she gonna help the baby plants like him too?

Jasmine decided that her first task would be to help pot the plants from the flower bed. Merlin it was cold in here. She had better move fast, before it was too late.
Spotting the Professor, Jasmine approached her. "Hi Professor. I thought that I could help with potting the plants from the flower beds, that is unless there is something else that you would like me to do.". Jasmine was willing to help out wherever she was needed most.
She was in a bit of a daze, watching everything, monitoring everything, and attempting to think five move ahead... and then there was Jasmine.
"No no, that sounds wonderful, thank you dear," she smiled in reply, thankful for the Ravenclaw's assistance.

Angel patted the Professor back gently. "Don't worry Professor we will get these plants somewhere save, I won't leave until each and every one is save." Angel said truthfully, she wasn't going to leave the Professor or these plants in their hour of need.
Angel beamed. "Of course I can." Angel really loved working with flowers, as soon as the Professor had released the bear hug she walked over to the nearest plant bed and got to work. "Don't worry little one's." Angel smiled as she spoke to the plants. "We'll soon have you out of here and into a safer place." She spoke to the plants she was sorting out first, didn't want to spook them out now did she. she also wasn't going to rest until each and everyone of the plants were safe.
The returned hug with the back patting did her a great deal of good, and Angel's kind words that followed were also appreciated. So much so, that she smiled proudly at the girl... with perhaps a tear or two in her eye.

Simon had to stop himself from saluting her; otherwise, he would have. This was his mission and Bentley was the Major in charge. He pointed his wand at some of the remaining plants: "Wingardium Leviosa" he said and raised three of the plants up into the air. He turned around and headed out of the greenhouses, casting several hot air charms to combat the frigid weather. Now he would just have to keep them warm. Walk quickly now.
Simon.... was a lifesaver, an honest to goodness lifesaver. Seren knew she wouldn't need to worry about keeping an eye on him. The Slytherin was more than capable of completing the tasks required without assistance.

From what she could gather the Professor needed helping getting things inside because of the cold? Not surprizing, this weather was something else. Her own kneazle scarcely wanted to leave the warmth and comfort of the Common Room.
"Here and ready to help Professor." The Gryffindor announced as she came to a stop in the Greenhouse. By the looks of things they'd already gotten a few of them moved.
She'd just jump right into it then...following the work of that little lion right there. Reducing the size was actually a good idea. You could carry a lot more and the job would be done faster. Lex was assuming there was some amount of haste to be made if they wanted to keep these plants from getting frost bitten.
The Prefect found a cluster by the wall and took aim. "Reducio." After which she conjured a box and began packing them in it. Levitating was fine and all but with so many that'd be a lot to split her attention between and she'd most likely drop at least one of them. Something she was positive the Professor wouldn't appreciate. This time she took aim at the box. "Mobiliarbus." Easier when only concentrating on one thing, the box, see?
And out of the Greenhouse she went, following behind the others who were headed Merlin knows where.
....
That voice, she'd know it anywhere if she heard it... and she did hear it. Seren turned on her heel to see the Prefect already hard at work. Such an industrious student. So capable.... .... but no, she wasn't going to cry. Not now.
"Thank you, Lex," she called over some of the other students.
SPOILER!!: Benny

He stepped inside the greenhouse proper, his work clothes on and his gloves in his pocket ready to go once directed to a task. There was already a good amount of students there including Adi, Prefect Lex and 2/3 of the Valentine triplets, the last making him unsure of himself. Benny hadn't really spoken with Angel since Ancient Runes when her confession to him had thrown him for a loop.
So instead of heading towards any one person for now, the third year opted to at least briefly check in with Professor Bentley. "Hello Professor," he greeted, then noticing the board with the given instructions. "Here to help," he added, absently slipping on his gloves.
A voice a little closer to her almost made her jump, she hadn't been expecting it, which only seemed ridiculous given the circumstances. "Ben!" ... "Thank you for coming, we can use all the help we can get." If that much wasn't already clear.

SPEAKING of the herbology instructor, the small brunette went and found her FIRST. "Sorry about what happened, Professor." Honest, Maddie actually LIKED this class. "But we'll all help you get this area fixed up in no time, yeah?" Or she'd do what she COULD since there were still LOADS of spells she DIDN'T know. SIGH.
And look, a task board! The twelve year old gave a small smile to Bentley before heading towards it to figure out what she could do to help.
Seren smiled appreciatively at Maddison's arrival. She was a darling... such a sweetheart. "You don't need to be sorry, it wasn't your fault," she replied, identifying the logic there. "Fixing up the place... well I'm not overly concerned with that at this point, it's the plants I worry about."

Especially with the stomach flutteries, turning into stomach stabbies. Nevertheless, he made his way back into the greenhouse. Finding a smaller, more manageable plant this time he scooped it up into his arms. "Don't worry Professor! These plants will be better in no time!" Especially now that DARLING Zander was helping. MHM. Perfect. Now... back to the great hall side room?
This is so tedious.
It pleased her to see the Gryffindor return, it meant that he had found the room, and had lived through the snowy march up and back down. Of course, he served to instill a greater confidence in her, regarding all of this.

What made him come out here? He didn't know. Really. Maybe it was because he was oh-so-nice like that.
........................... LOL. What a funny thought. HA.
No, it probably had a LOT more to do with the fact that there were dangerous plants here. Flesh-eating ones, at that. And he didn't know about anyone else but the fourteen year old thought that those needed to be saved above anything else. Uh huh.
So he was here. Bundled up but here. And a lot more people were here too. His blue eyes, though, landed on the blackboard where a set of instructions were already written up. Heh. He'd decide on one later but fiiiiiiirst........ BENTLEY. Hello, sup. He waved over at her and said, "Sorry about the damage, Professor." And he was here to help, of course. Because there was a little sliver of him that was nice. Maybe.
Eh.
Now he needed to decide on an actual task, yeah? Did he want to go outside? Not really. Not even a bit. But he didn't really feel like re-potting plants. Especially since this greenhouse was full of namby pamby plants that he did not want to deal with, thank you. SO, until they reached the more dangerous plants, he was going to move things out instead. Brilliant plan? Of course it was. HE thought of it.
Once the gloves were taken out and strapped on, Grayson turned his attention back to the notes on the blackboard, especially the extra notes. There was a lot to take care of. WELL. The first thing he was going to take care of was how freaking cold he felt. Pulling out his wand, he cast the spell that he had learnt in THIS class on himself. "Ventus!" MAYBE that would help. Then he pointed his wand over at the nearest potted plant and cried, "Reducio!" Smaller. Better. "Mobiliarbus!"
Anddddddddd out of the greenhouse he went. Into the cold. WITH the plant too, that he had tucked away in his pocket. SIGH.
Don't miss him too much, mkay?
Grayson's presence in the greenhouse did not go unnoticed, and she managed to return the wave he had so kindly afforded her. "Don't be, you didn't do it," she replied. He had after all apologised for the damage, not simply hearing about it... he didn't do it. This was clearly the work of freak nature.

It seemed as though all the hands were making short work of this... and on further inspection, there was nothing much else to be done here. Of course, they had what they needed, and while she didn't want to leave any plant behind... she did have seven other greenhouses to process, and the longer it took them, the more heart breaking the results would become.
"I think we can move onto greenhouse two now," she advised Beverly. "Start with whatever you fancy... moving pots or potting those that are planted," she nodded.
Of course.... she needed to let everyone else know too.
"Alright, thank you everyone! Onto greenhouse two and three now please!" she called out, flicking her wand and moving it off ahead of them to the next greenhouse.
Once they were out, she marked the door to greenhouse one with a fiery red cross. One down, seven to go.
"This way, this way," she ushered along, her heart stinging a little to see the greenhouse was also in a dismal state.

As Zander made it back after his second trip he looked around the first greenhouse. WAIT. Why was everyone leaving? Where were they going? No, wait. Gryffindor in utter state of confusion here... Hellooooo? Zander spotted the herbology angel ahem, Professor leading the group. OH YES. He'd follow her. Not like he had to be told twice. Yep.
Ooooh, so they were moving on to the next greenhouse. That made sense. Following right behind her he opened his mouth to speak, "Are-are we doing the same things with these plants?" Because this stuff wasn't too bad. He could carry plants all day. As long as he'd be helping Bentley, he was happy.

Moving up and moving on, hmm? Mo straightened up and carefully cleaned off his dragonhide gloves as he considered the problem of moving all these separate pots. Levitation was a really good option, obviously, although he still would rather put them on one flat and then levitate that, rather than levitating a buncha individual things.
He flashed a brief grin at the professor as she moved them on, noting that he was going to have to come back to a different greenhouse when he returned. Mo stacked the pots on a flat and levitated it with a flick of his wand. Non-verbal spells for the win. "See you in a few, Prof."
Prof? Did he just call her prof? Mo kicked himself as he exited the greenhouse.

He certainly seemed a little off. Like his full attention wasn't on the task at hand. Which was a surprise since usually the Hufflepuff liked this type of activity. Herbology that is. The Gryffindor watched his friend to try and find some clues, finally following his gaze and spotted AJ again...AJ and Angel. A fact that made Benny look away quickly himself. Thankfully Adi had snapped out of it and was talking about the plants again, helping him with the hanging plants.
"Uh huh...sounds like a plan," he agreed as he moved around the greenhouse they were in, two more hanging plants eventually down on the ground with his original one. Three was a good number to try and levitate...right? Well given Professor Bentley was moving them on to the next greenhouse, they might as well bring the ones they already had inside.
"Shall we..." Ben mused as he moved his group all together. "Mobiliarbus," he cast, pointing at them and concentrating on levitating them. A little shaky at first, the plants settled and the Gryffindor headed out and towards the castle.

Oh, it was time for them to relocate already. Awesome. Lux was thrilled at how efficient they were all being. The poor plants would all be nice and warm very soon.
Following Professor Bentley, she made her way towards Greenhouse two.
Greenhouse Two: Re-potting Anyone? and one Puffapod pickup xD

Moving on? Cris looked all around him. It broke his heart to see that there were still some plants that had been left behind. Plants that would no longer see the light of day. Cris sighed sadly before picking up the wheelbarrow containing empty pots and made his way over to Greenhouse Two.
Stopping by at the supply shed, Cris replenished his supply of empty pots before stopping at the first row of plants. He closely examined the plants. Most of them seem to be less frost bitten then the ones in Greenhouse One but Cris knew that the cold bitter air would eventually get through to them too.
Like before, he counted the number of plants that would need larger pots and began enlarging some of the empty pots into larger sized ones. "Engorgio" he waved his wand in a circular motion over the pot and watched as the miraculously grew larger and wider. "Finite" he ended the spell, and placed the enlarged pot aside before he repeated the same spell to the other pots.
Once he had a fair share of large pots, Cris began the process of transferring the plants from the flowed beds into the pots he had laid out on the ground. Kneeling down next to a Puffapod, Cris made sure that his dragonhide gloves were on secured around his hands before he pushed aside the soil in the flower bed, exposing the Puffapod's roots.
Holding onto its main stem, Cris gave a gentle tug, and lifted the plant out from the flower bed, quickly placed it in one of the larger pots. He pulled over the bag of potting soil and poured it into the pot making sure that the plant's root were thoroughly covered and there was enough to help keep the plant growing upright.
Then he pushed the pot to the front, calling out,"One Puffapod ready for delivery to the castle."
Cris blushed at Leah's compliment. "That's nice of you to say, Leah but I can't take all the credit, since I think all the Hufflepuff people I know are all really nice. Thanks for helping me out here." he thanked her as he watched her walk off to gather more empty pots.
Right then Professor Bentley confirmed what he had suspected.
Okay back to business. "I'm going to grab more pots and enlarge some of them for the bigger plants," Cris told the others as he quickly walked over to the supply shed, pulled out another wheel barrow and began placing the empty pots into it. Then he wheeled the barrow back to where the others were, and began enlarging the pots.
Pointing his wand inside the first pot, he traced his wand over it and said,"Engorgio". An icy blue light streamed from his wand and the pot began to grow larger. When he was satisfied with the size, Cris ended the spell and moved on to enlarging a few more pots before holstering his wand.
It was time to start re-potting the plants.

Then he was back to Operation Re-potting. He returned to the supply shed and pulled out a bag of potting soil and a spade before returning to the plants. He poured some potting soil into each of the pots before proceeding to remove the plants from their flower beds. Leaning over a Flutterby bush, he began loosening the soil around the plant, until he could see its roots. Cris then gently lifted up the plant, one hand holding it by its trunk and the other gathering up the roots and slowly placed it in one of the larger pots. Once the plant was in the pot, Cris scooped more soil into the pot until all the roots were covered up and the plant was lying securely in the pot.
"This plant it ready to be brought up to the castle," Cris told anyone who was withing listening distance and who was one of the potted plant movers. Then he moved on to the next bush and repeated the repotting process again.

Leah was not confident that she would be able to successfully re-pot plants in flower beds, so she continued with saving the ones already in pots and ready to go. Looking up to see an older girl joining in to help, she gave her her biggest grin possible. Heh, Cris' girlfriend, eh?
Seeing that Greenhouse one was nearly empty, what with nearly the whole school helping. She decided to move on to the next greenhouse. But she thought that it was time for her to get moving up to the temporary greenhouses. Picking up more pots and moving them safely inside the wheelbarrow, Leah waved at the older boy to get his attention.
"Hey Cris, mind if I borrow the wheelbarrow? I'm going to move all the pots we got up to the new greenhouse while you re-pot." she said. "And it'll really help if you place a charm that makes it lighter or something." Because the wheelbarrow will be REALLY heavy. For her, anyway.

Removing these hangy plants certainly required his full attention and for that he was pleased. His eyes didn't always want to look over at AJ now. He didn't even noticed that Benny had figured something was bothering him.
Adi removed a couple more of the plants, just as Professor Bentley announced that they should move on to greenhouses two and three. "Yep, let's go,'' he said to Benny. The third year cast one last look around just to be sure they hadn't missed any plants. Satisfied that they hadn't, he pointed his wand at his set of plants. "Mobiliarbus!'' Concentration was key so he tried to maintain it. He followed Benny out of the Greenhouse but not before casting a quick glance in AJ's direction.

Curiosity got the best of him, and decided to head for the greenhouses. He heard the crack and crashing sound earlier while he was chatting with Professor Cosgrach, and he couldn’t help but go further and be curious youngling.
…
Did…what…the greenhouses are destroyed? Stepping inside slowly, he scanned the room to find students dashing in and out of the place with potted plants…or…levitating them out of the place. “When? How? Why?” the task at hand is a bit overwhelming no? What does he know about re-plotting plants? Merlin, the place was a mess.
Some of the plants were already frozen…and…and… there’s Professor Bentley! Oh man, she looked sad. Well, who wouldn’t be, right? Those were her babies!
No time for greetings, no? “Doth not fear, for Ethan is here!” And that statement wasn’t just for the plants, but for Professor Bentley as well. She really could use some cheering up. The third year wore his game-face on and inspected the area for plants that can still be saved.

"Here you go," Cris pushed the empty wheelbarrow over to Leah. "Sure I can help you with that. Let me know when you're done loading the potted plants into the wheelbarrow and I'll help make the wheelbarrow light enough for you to wheel it up to the castle," Cris stepped aside to allow Leah access to the wheelbarrow.

Simon returned to the Greenhouses and saw that his dormmate, Ethan, was present. He grinned. He was glad to see Ethan here. He would know what to do.
Greenhouse number two or three?
"Hey Ethan! Want to team up with me to help carry plants or pot plants out of..." he paused. He didn't know which greenhouse to go for, but seeing as some of the people were already headed over to two, he'd go for greenhouse number three. Besides, the number three was a very lucky number.
Let's do this!
"Want to go tackle Greenhouse 3?" he said excitedly.

Let's do this!
"Want to go tackle Greenhouse 3?" he said excitedly.
Really, he should have brought his magnifying glass with him while he was inspecting the plants. He did feel every bit of that muggle hero called Sherlock Holmes. Anyway, he got distracted when someone with a familiar voice said his name. "GREETINGS SIMON!" he said as he patted his dorm mate's back with a grin. "Would you know what happened? Did someone attack the Greenhouses?" he asked as he scanned the room.
Hopefully he won't see a crying professor, no? Because he'd feel bad.
Anyhow! "We have a mission, I see! Re-potting or...carrying potted plants? I have a great idea! Why don't we re-pot the plants that can be saved, then I'll transfigure my snowboard into a sled-- a trick I learned from my old school, and transport them to...where are we transporting them to?" Ethan waved at his friend and continued. "Once we transport them to...someplace then we can go back down here sledding." Cool idea, no?
"Let's go tackle the third greenhouse and save the day!"

Ethan was in super slueth mode apparently. Simon just blinked his blue eyes and watched his friend scan the room for a couple of seconds. Alright, who let Sherlock Holmes out on the loose? He chuckled. "Uh, well Holmes. It's not Moriarty this time. I can deduce that the shattered glass came from the window because of this horrid weather." It was really chilly in here.
Aha! Now the mission was up at hand. The game was still on. They had to save these plants. Simon nodded. That idea was just brilliant. "Awesome! Let's go do that. We're transporting them to this room by the Great Hall. I'll lead the way there," he explained with a warm grin. He nodded. "Let's go!" he shouted and with that, he ran to Greenhouse number 3.
----
Inside Greenhouse 3, Simon (with his gloves already on) started looking for some empty pots that they could fit the plants into. Unforuntaely, he could only find rather small pots. Uh oh... He thought. And then his eyes widened. Wait. He could fix this. He pointed his wand at the pots he had picked up and cast, "Engorgio!" The pots grew to the appropriate size he needed and he started potting the plants.

Not Moriarty. "Good, good. Not the elusive but crafty Consulting Criminal, eh?" But who knows? Maybe the muggle!Moriarty's got his network extended to the Wizarding World? "What doesn't make sense is that these greenhouses should be shatterproof, what with being in a wizarding school and stuff." That could only mean that there's something else in the air. Could the wind be magically induced, and not just mother nature attacking their grounds?
Without further ado, Ethan ran with Simon and reached Greenhouse Three. Yep. Also a mess in here. MERLIN. Just how powerful was that wind? Ethan secretly thanked the stars that he was safe and sound with Professor Cosgrach earlier. He was near the area when it happened, you know?
Ethan watched as Simon did an Engorgment charm on the pot. Brilliant! Now it was his turn no? The third year got hold of his snowboard and transfigured it into a wooden sled. "Now all we have to do is use a sticky charm on the pot so it won't fall off the sled when we pull it up." Tucking his wand back in his sleeve, he went on and helped Simon re-pot the plants.
Good progress and teamwork for #TeamHolmes right there.

Fortunately for them, Moriarty hadn't come out to play today at the playground. If Moriarty had been behind it all, then they would probably have been running into a trap by running into Greenhouse 3. He nodded and rubbed his chin with his right hand. "Exactly... That doesn't make sense at all. The wind must've had some magical property propelling it... " He paused as his mind went back to the Cold Ones. "You don't think that it could possibly be the Cold Ones or a dark Wizard at work?" He figured that either one of the options was bad news.
He had finished potting the bouncing bulbs when he saw Ethan pull out his wand. Huh? Simon curiously glanced over to see Ethan transfiguring his snowboard into a wooden sled. Awesome! With Ethan by his side, he knew he could accomplish anything. He was sure that they had a fair chance at saving the plants in this particular greenhouse. His nose twitched all of a sudden and he fought back a sneeze. Eugh. Ah.. Ah.. Ah!!!!!! Nope. He didn't sneeze. Eugh. There was too much pollen in here. With most of the angel trumpets repotted, he moved onto the umbrella flowers. A sticky charm? Hmm.. Something like super glue but less permanent, right? His eyes widened. "How about the placement charm?" he said feeling very clever. He may have even wiggled his eyebrows at his friend. Oh, ho, ho, all of their lessons were coming together now. He pointed his wand at some of the potted plants, preformed the complex wand movement, and uttered the charm. "Fixate." Then he placed them on the Professor Fuller and Thompson would have been super proud of him. He then performed the sticking charm on the plants that he had placed on the transfigured sled.

TEAM HOLMES WAS GOING TO SAVE THE DAY!!
Anyway, back to plant potting......
Nods. Nods everywhere as Simon Moriarty explained his theory, and mentioning the Cold Ones. “They thrive in cold conditions, yes? But my question is…could the Cold Ones produce this kind of horrid weather? If not, then why are we having this bloody cold weather?” You see, this is what he loves when he’s around Simon. They get to exchange ideas and theories and whatnot. “…if it’s the Cold Ones…then…why are they targeting Hogwarts?” Right? Why the students? Or…the staff? Ethan’s eyes widened, and paused for a second…then finished re-potting one of the plants. “…do you think the Cold Ones are after the arm that Professor Flamsteed showed us in Defence? Maybe…maybe the arm is some sort of…homing device for them?” Merlin. If that’s the case then they should destroy the arm pronto!
The third year glanced at Simon and copied his facial expression when his fellow snake looked like he was about to sneeze. “You all right, mate?” Really, he can’t afford one Simon Holden to be sick. Not when they are silently being attacked by dark forces that they can’t see.
Simon seems to be fine, and the third year watched and gave him a thumbs up after casting the Placement Charm on the said pot. Don’t you just love a Slytherin’s brilliance? Moving on, Ethan continued to inspect the room for plants that can be salvaged, and re-potted them on the huge pot Simon made.
#TeamHolmes is winning.
