When not in use for classes, several of the greenhouses that are located on the school grounds are open for private and independent research and study. In fact, this is highly encouraged.
Within the unlocked doors of the greenhouses you will find rows and rows of plants. The greenhouses contain a wide variety of plants - both magical and mundane. Want to practice your pruning skills? Why not practice on the Abyssinian Shrivelfig of a Flutterby Bush? Or perhaps you want to harvest some Puffapod seeds- just don’t drop them! -- unless you want to of course.
The store cupboards are stocked with all the tools and materials you could possibly need. Trowels, buckets, pegs, twine, fertiliser, spare gloves, spare work robes and a selection of mundane seed and bulbs. If you borrow something, be sure you return it.
Remember Professor Bentley likes to take regular strolls through the greenhouse to check on things. So make sure you wear your protective gear and behave yourselves accordingly.

Lucy had saw a notice and now she was ready to help her professor!
She saw the blackboard with the job tasks..then she turned at the Professor and she said:"Professor.. I can levitate the plants with "Wingardium leviosa" but can you tell me a spell to shrink potted plants for ease of transportation?

Save the plants, save the plants! Especially the flesh eating one. Hehe. Adi stepped into the greenhouse and was immediately taken aback by the damage. Poor Bentley must feel sad about all of this.
Looking around, Adi spotted loads of familiar faces. "Hey, guys!'' he said to everyone in general. But he went over to Cris and Leah. "Hi! Need any help?'' Because that's what he was there for.

Not the flesh eaters!!! AJ came as quickly as her little legs would carry her. She was not fond of the cold weather, and had already spent her first share out in it, but the plants needed her. Plus Bentley was her head of house and she couldn't exactly leave her hanging.
As she made her way into the greenhouses a gasp escaped from her lips. Man, what a mess this was. Didn't the cold know that this was a magical greenhouse that was home to some super cool plants? How rude!
Directions were being given and she decided to help out her adventure seeking buddy Arista. "Mind if I help you?" She could re-pot some plants, and could carry them to the castle. No problem!
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
After reading the urgent message on the message board at the Gryffindor Common Room, Kevin hadn't exactly rushed downstairs but had taken his time. But he was here at least right? Keeping on good terms with Bentley was a must.
Kevin entered the Greenhouse and wasn't surprised that there were other students there as well wanting to help out. A lot of hufflepuffs as well...of course.. "Yo, ...need an extra hand?" he asked the moment his eyes landed on the board.
Well then, the Gryffindor put on his gloves and rolled up his sleeves. Then he turned his hat backwards and grabbed his wand. Now, which plants weren't dead already? Then he heard Lucy asking the Professor a question and he stopped to listen as well. Since he didn't know that spell either and if he could learn a new spell, then that was cool.

The cavalry kept coming, and she could feel her emotions welling inside, she was so so so very proud of her students for their charitable efforts. Of course, that wasn't to say they wouldn't be rewarded for it...
She would have greeted the two, but it was at that moment that Lucy caught her attention... and it seemed too that another arrival wanted to listen in.

Seren listened to the young Lion's question, and it was a very good one at that. "I'm so glad you asked," she started... "The Shrinking Charm is Reducio... pronounced ruh-DOO-see-oh," she added more slowly, so that it was clear. "Just fliick your wand at the target in a V motion, and you should get the hang of it soon enough." Practice very nearly always made perfect.
"Oh... though I would use Mobiliarbus instead of Wingardium Leviosa... it's a lot stronger and most of these plants and pots are quite heavy."
Oh no. This was terrible all the poor old and freezing plants this wasn't good. Now the greenhouse plants were suffering from this harsh winter weather. Poor plants she knew how they felt being a cold and frozen.
Brrrrrrrrrrrr
There were people here and were already working. Was she late? It wasn't like this was class, right? So if she wasn't on time it didn't count against her. Seeing that the others had started she acted as if she had been there the whole time. "Hey, Professor Bentley! I'm sorry about the plants and greenhouse." She frowned slightly as she spoke
She was here to help. She looked around surveying the damage. Deciding that she would get some of the hanging pots first. She pulled out her wand and pointed at a hanging pot. "Wingardium Leviosa!" The pot hovered over the ground. Cinna picked up a near by hanging pot on the way out. To the room off of the great hall we go!

Angel knew that the Professor was in need of some help and she knew how important it was for the plants to be save so she had rushed down as soon as she had heard. "Professor, I'm here." Angel beamed as she walked into the greenhouse, she was already fully prepared for whatever the Professor needed her to do. "What do you want me to do first." Angel smiled as she looked at the plants before speaking to them. "Don't worry we'll have you somewhere nice and safe soon." Angel had her herbologist voice on now.

And just when she thought things couldn't get better, more of her darling Lions turned up to support her. This is what love was made of. "Aaaww thank you, dear," she replied, putting on a brave smile before watching the girl set to work.
She was an industrious one, but if she kept using Wingardium Leviosa she might find it plucking from the sky and falling on her head... still, she oped it wouldn't happen.

Jasmine got the message about the situation at the Greenhouse. She hurried as fast as anyone could hurry in deep snow down there to see how she could help. Time would surely be of the essence because the plants couldn't tolerate the bitter cold for long.
Arriving at the Greenhouse, Jasmine was not surprised to see her fellow classmates hard at work. She was about to look for the Professor when she saw her notes on the blackboard. Jasmine decided that her first task would be to help pot the plants from the flower bed. Merlin it was cold in here. She had better move fast, before it was too late.
Spotting the Professor, Jasmine approached her. "Hi Professor. I thought that I could help with potting the plants from the flower beds, that is unless there is something else that you would like me to do.". Jasmine was willing to help out wherever she was needed most.

Angel smiled at the Professor. "When a plant is in danger, I have to come." Angel said truthfully, then the Professor was giving her a bear hug, okay now this was getting weird, this was the second time this term but this time the Professor was the one that was sad.
Angel patted the Professor back gently. "Don't worry Professor we will get these plants somewhere save, I won't leave until each and every one is save." Angel said truthfully, she wasn't going to leave the Professor or these plants in their hour of need.
Angel beamed. "Of course I can." Angel really loved working with flowers, as soon as the Professor had released the bear hug she walked over to the nearest plant bed and got to work. "Don't worry little one's." Angel smiled as she spoke to the plants. "We'll soon have you out of here and into a safer place." She spoke to the plants she was sorting out first, didn't want to spook them out now did she. she also wasn't going to rest until each and everyone of the plants were safe.

Poor Professor Bentley. Nodding at the pat on the back, Lux started to get to work. Thankfully more people were arriving to help and these people got smiles from her. So many wonderful and helpful people were at Hogwarts, it was amazing.
Going over to some potted plants, Lux shrank them using her wand and placed them in her pockets carefully. It definitely wasn't easy when dealing with soil, but if she was very careful everything would work out for these miniature plants. That job done, she began her journey outside into the cold while shielding her cargo.

"Thanks for coming, Simon, I appreciate it," she started, greeting the Slytherin warmly. "Perhaps start by moving the potted plants to the room off the Great Hall... the one that was used for Dueling Club some time ago. The others are going to pot some of the plants from the flowerbed, if we can have them moved to the castle as quickly as possible that would be appreciated."
The poor plants probably wouldn't survive long in this weather. "No problems," he said, smiling at his Herbology Professor. Okay. So he had to move some of the plotted plants to a room off of the Great Hall. "Yes, I know which one it is. I'l get to work on moving the plants right away," he said grinning. Simon had to stop himself from saluting her; otherwise, he would have. This was his mission and Bentley was the Major in charge. He pointed his wand at some of the remaining plants: "Wingardium Leviosa" he said and raised three of the plants up into the air. He turned around and headed out of the greenhouses, casting several hot air charms to combat the frigid weather. Now he would just have to keep them warm. Walk quickly now.
Seren listened to the young Lion's question, and it was a very good one at that. "I'm so glad you asked," she started... "The Shrinking Charm is Reducio... pronounced ruh-DOO-see-oh," she added more slowly, so that it was clear. Just a little tidbit to help.
Lucy listened the instructions of the Professor..
She was happy because she was trying the new spells to help her Professor.
She started to repeat in her mind the name of the incantation..Then she tried the movement of the wand..Then she said:"Mobiliarbus! !!" ...The plants were levitating..
Now she was ready to shrink the plantes..:"Reducio!!!!"
She tried to remaine concentrated as she walked out of the greenhouses whit the plants in her cloaks pockets..She thought:" It's wonderful to be helpful to someone !"

Heading back into the Greenhouse, Lux walked back over to the hanging potted plants. Time for her to take some of these in, but how did she want to do it? Was it better to carry them as is and rush into the castle? Or to shrink them like the other potted plants she had earlier?
Deciding on the second option, Lux went on her tiptoes and took down one of the potted plants with some difficulty. Setting it down on one of the tables, she went to get another one, and another one until there were a few down. After shrinking them, into her pockets they went. It was harder this time because of the hook things, but everything always worked out in the end and this was no different.

Funny enough Lex almost missed the notice of help being needed down in the Greenhouse. It was only seeing so many people going to and fro that she decided to have a look for herself and make a few inquiries. From what she could gather the Professor needed helping getting things inside because of the cold? Not surprizing, this weather was something else. Her own kneazle scarcely wanted to leave the warmth and comfort of the Common Room.
"Here and ready to help Professor." The Gryffindor announced as she came to a stop in the Greenhouse. By the looks of things they'd already gotten a few of them moved.
She'd just jump right into it then...following the work of that little lion right there. Reducing the size was actually a good idea. You could carry a lot more and the job would be done faster. Lex was assuming there was some amount of haste to be made if they wanted to keep these plants from getting frost bitten.
The Prefect found a cluster by the wall and took aim. "Reducio." After which she conjured a box and began packing them in it. Levitating was fine and all but with so many that'd be a lot to split her attention between and she'd most likely drop at least one of them. Something she was positive the Professor wouldn't appreciate. This time she took aim at the box. "Mobiliarbus." Easier when only concentrating on one thing, the box, see?
And out of the Greenhouse she went, following behind the others who were headed Merlin knows where.

Benny had seen the notice and hurried down to help when he could. However what he found wasn't anything he could have been warned about. Dear Merlin. No wonder quick help was needed ...there was a reason the plants were kept in greenhouses and it was not to expose them to the cold.
He stepped inside the greenhouse proper, his work clothes on and his gloves in his pocket ready to go once directed to a task. There was already a good amount of students there including Adi, Prefect Lex and 2/3 of the Valentine triplets, the last making him unsure of himself. Benny hadn't really spoken with Angel since Ancient Runes when her confession to him had thrown him for a loop.
So instead of heading towards any one person for now, the third year opted to at least briefly check in with Professor Bentley. "Hello Professor," he greeted, then noticing the board with the given instructions. "Here to help," he added, absently slipping on his gloves.

Adi noticed two particular Lions the moment they walked into the Greenhouse. AJ and Benny. He and AJ still hadn't sorted out their er...issues? Anyway, since AJ had made it her point to ignore him in DADA, he didn't bother acknowledging her presence. But he couldn't ignore the Dragon.
After his friend had greeted Bentley, he said, "Benny! Hey!'' He was there just in time. "I know what we could do. Let's move the unfrozen plants.'' Yep. They could do that. Unless Benny had something else in mind. "Uh, if that's okay with you, of course.'' Adi trusted Cris & Leah would not notice he had deserted them. Or maybe they would. meh.

Maddison had heard about the Greenhouses disaster and while it'd taken her a bit to get on warm clothes, she was finally here and extremely surprised by the scene. Talk about disastrous! And while Maddie wasn't sure plants had feelings, she was sure that if they DID, they'd be feeling all sorts of unsafe and uncomfortable right now. No WONDER Bentley needed extra hands!
SPEAKING of the herbology instructor, the small brunette went and found her FIRST. "Sorry about what happened, Professor." Honest, Maddie actually LIKED this class. "But we'll all help you get this area fixed up in no time, yeah?" Or she'd do what she COULD since there were still LOADS of spells she DIDN'T know. SIGH.
And look, a task board! The twelve year old gave a small smile to Bentley before heading towards it to figure out what she could do to help.

No, it was... dead. Its leaves were frozen. Touching the pot, she patted it slightly before moving on. Carrying a cold but not yet frozen plant, Leah carried it back to the wheelbarrow and placed it carefully in. Then she looked up to see the professor reply before heading off to find another plant to save.
Cris blushed at Leah's compliment. "That's nice of you to say, Leah but I can't take all the credit, since I think all the Hufflepuff people I know are all really nice. Thanks for helping me out here." he thanked her as he watched her walk off to gather more empty pots.

Okay back to business. "I'm going to grab more pots and enlarge some of them for the bigger plants," Cris told the others as he quickly walked over to the supply shed, pulled out another wheel barrow and began placing the empty pots into it. Then he wheeled the barrow back to where the others were, and began enlarging the pots.
Pointing his wand inside the first pot, he traced his wand over it and said,"Engorgio". An icy blue light streamed from his wand and the pot began to grow larger. When he was satisfied with the size, Cris ended the spell and moved on to enlarging a few more pots before holstering his wand.

Darling. Hear that? According to Bentley Zander IS A DARLING! And it basically put him into this daze. Even after his quick greenhouse escape, it still had him all mesmerized. Of course, he HAD to come back to the greenhouse to grab another plant. But facing Bentley again was starting to become a dangerous task.
Especially with the stomach flutteries, turning into stomach stabbies. Nevertheless, he made his way back into the greenhouse. Finding a smaller, more manageable plant this time he scooped it up into his arms. "Don't worry Professor! These plants will be better in no time!" Especially now that DARLING Zander was helping. MHM. Perfect. Now... back to the great hall side room?
This is so tedious.

Angel's voice caught her attention and she looked over to where her sister stood. Was she talking to the plants? "Expecting them to talk back?" she joked. It was then that she noticed Benny, and her eyes cut back to her sister. She had never told her the whole story, and she wondered where they stood. Of course she couldn't miss Adi standing beside the lion, and she was sure that he saw her. No hello? That was unusual for him. Fine. Two could play this game.
"I was going to help Arista, but do you need help?" Please say yes! She needed to keep busy and distractions were key. She could help both her friend and sister at the same time. AJ needed something to do before she started talking to the plants too.
Angel giggled at her sister. "No but you do know it makes them feel better right?" Angel smiled, now if her sister was done talking they were actually very busy here and had lives to saves.
Angel continued to work on the different plants making sure that all those she could salvage were well look after. "Don't worry plants, we will soon get you somewhere nice and cosy where you can all be together." Angel hoped that the professor knew that she wouldn't leave here until all the plants were actually saved.

Her sister had completely blown off her question. "Of course." Although AJ didn't believe that to be true at all. Angel was in her zone with these plants, and she was being absolutely no help. Fine. AJ didn't need anybody to be a distraction. She would just lose herself in her work.
Walking back over to Arista she started to grab the smaller plants and re-pot them. AJ wasn't being the neatest with her work, but considering that they needed to be moved asap, that could be overlooked. She was slinging dirt, and humming a song from flyleaf in her head. She snorted thinking of the irony, but quickly put her attention on getting the plants ready to be moved.

Having read the notice in the common room, Grayson mustered up as much energy as he could and made his way down towards the greenhouse. It was just the THOUGHT of heading back OUTSIDE that made him groan and want to head to bed instead. It was still freaking freezing and he'd RATHER be sitting somewhere that's warm than coming out HERE.
What made him come out here? He didn't know. Really. Maybe it was because he was oh-so-nice like that.
........................... LOL. What a funny thought. HA.
No, it probably had a LOT more to do with the fact that there were dangerous plants here. Flesh-eating ones, at that. And he didn't know about anyone else but the fourteen year old thought that those needed to be saved above anything else. Uh huh.
So he was here. Bundled up but here. And a lot more people were here too. His blue eyes, though, landed on the blackboard where a set of instructions were already written up. Heh. He'd decide on one later but fiiiiiiirst........ BENTLEY. Hello, sup. He waved over at her and said, "Sorry about the damage, Professor." And he was here to help, of course. Because there was a little sliver of him that was nice. Maybe.
Eh.
Now he needed to decide on an actual task, yeah? Did he want to go outside? Not really. Not even a bit. But he didn't really feel like re-potting plants. Especially since this greenhouse was full of namby pamby plants that he did not want to deal with, thank you. SO, until they reached the more dangerous plants, he was going to move things out instead. Brilliant plan? Of course it was. HE thought of it.
Once the gloves were taken out and strapped on, Grayson turned his attention back to the notes on the blackboard, especially the extra notes. There was a lot to take care of. WELL. The first thing he was going to take care of was how freaking cold he felt. Pulling out his wand, he cast the spell that he had learnt in THIS class on himself. "Ventus!" MAYBE that would help. Then he pointed his wand over at the nearest potted plant and cried, "Reducio!" Smaller. Better. "Mobiliarbus!"
Anddddddddd out of the greenhouse he went. Into the cold. WITH the plant too, that he had tucked away in his pocket. SIGH.

Cris noticed an older Ravenclaw smile over at their group, and he smiled back. He didn't know who she was but she seemed nice. He made a mental note to himself to ask Jasmine whether she knew the girl being in the same house and all.
Then he was back to Operation Re-potting. He returned to the supply shed and pulled out a bag of potting soil and a spade before returning to the plants. He poured some potting soil into each of the pots before proceeding to remove the plants from their flower beds. Leaning over a Flutterby bush, he began loosening the soil around the plant, until he could see its roots. Cris then gently lifted up the plant, one hand holding it by its trunk and the other gathering up the roots and slowly placed it in one of the larger pots. Once the plant was in the pot, Cris scooped more soil into the pot until all the roots were covered up and the plant was lying securely in the pot.
"This plant it ready to be brought up to the castle," Cris told anyone who was withing listening distance and who was one of the potted plant movers. Then he moved on to the next bush and repeated the repotting process again.
