Stepping into the arena, you are immediately enveloped with the light shining into the room, either morning or evening depending on what time you decide to enter, yet it's as chilly as a snow covered stone statue. An extra cloak or two would be helpful. If you can tear your gaze away from the intricately designed windows and high ceilings could, you can see to the very right of the room, there is the long platform in which supervised duels will take place while four benches on either side are placed at a safe distance for those who would like to sit and watch. Just ahead of the platform in the right corner, there is a door, though pay no attention to it. It's locked for a reason.
Towards the back wall, there are various types of practice dummies, both stationary and moving, depending on what difficulty the practicer wants. Don't be afraid to go all out with your spells, for these dummies are charmed to repair themselves. There is one practice dummy set aside that will shoot spells back to the practicer, however, permission from a Professor is required to use it. To the left side of the arena are two sets of stands, eight seats high, that look out to the entire arena, comfortable for those who would just like to watch what's going on all around or for general purposes such as studying or relaxing after a long day in the arena.
The middle of the room is quite empty, due to the fact that the defense Professor enjoys presenting lessons in here, but please, despite the brilliant light that shines through the arena due to the large windows, it is not some place to sunbathe or fall asleep. You will be levitated out with a good dose of cold water splashed on you if caught.
DADA H/W 1 : Post 7. Also saying hi to Bay, Lux, Jasmine & Zander

Cris glanced over to Jasmine and watched as she cast the spell successfully over and over again. Not only was he happy for her, he was also proud of her. He watched how fluid and determined her movements were. Remembering how good at dueling she was, Cris didn't doubt that she would have any problems casting the Reductor Curse.
Turning his attention back to his own dummy, Cris focussed on casting the spell again. He positioned himself in his now familiar stance before turning his head to look at the dummy. He closed his eyes and brought up the image of the dummy being hit by the spell. He focussed on that image and that alone before opening his eyes again. Concentrating hard and pooling all his energy into that one blast of spell, Cris brought up his wand and pointed it at the dummy. He waved his wand, first slashing it to the right and then to the left, forming a sideways V with its pointed tip pointing straight at the middle of the dummy's chest, and said the incantation loud and clear, "Reductor!!"
A bright blue beam of light blasted from his wand and flew directly towards the dummy. BOOM!! another dummy bites the dust!
As he waited for the dummy to repair itself, Cris walked over to join Bay, Lux and Jasmine...and a friend of Bay's.
"How's it going? Bay great moves, dude. Lux you have a great teacher here. Jasmine, you're amazing," Cris' grin grew bigger when he addressed his girlfriend.
Then he turned to the young Gryffindor that Bay was helping. "Hello, I'm Cris. I don't think I've had the opportunity to say hi to you until now," Cris smiled at the younger boy.

Jasmine decided to give it one more try before calling it a day. She would try the nonverbal spell again. Going through her mental checklist, Jasmine tried to focus her thoughts. She visualized the dummy exploding into pieces and tried to hold that thought. Staring at the dummy in front of her, Jasmine started her wand movement. Moving it right then left, she concentrated on the incantation without saying it aloud. To her surprise, she saw a blue steam of light leave her wand and move toward the dummy. In a split second, Jasmine heard a BOOM as the dummy exploded. Lowering her wand, Jasmine felt satisfaction. She had finally accomplished her goal for the day and it felt gooood.
Jasmine caught a glimpse of Cris out if the corner of her eye, still practicing his spell. When he finished destroying his dummy, he headed in her direction. Totally forgetting about her spell for a moment, she watched him as he came closer. "Looking pretty good there", Jasmine said with a smile. Then they were joined by Bay, Lux and another younger boy. It seemed that everyone was trying to finish up their homework.

Also, although midnight chocolate runs would be a possibility, he feared losing some business to the fact that as an 'of age' student, Cambridge could leave the castle for a spree at Honeydukes during their normal operating business hours.
There was a lot of damage, he imagined, Alexa Cambridge could do between morning and evening.
"Hexes and Curses? Merlin, Lex. I wish you'd teach me some of that. Most of the books in the library don't even cover how to. I mean, they'll tell you certain hexes and curses exist, but not how to do them." It wasn't subtle, exactly. He'd asked for what he wanted.
He stood back as Lex detonated the dummy with her spell. "I mean I do know of one. Reducto. Which I came here to practice. The particles just aren't of a fine enough grade for me. So I must be doing something wrong." Maybe she could help him with that and later, he'd ask her about the book she'd read last year: A Compendium of Common Curses and Their Counter-Actions.
"Reducto!" He said firing at one of the relaxed defense dummies in the corner and reducing it to a thick black sand-like ash.
Lex surveyed the dummy she'd blown up again. After some thought she figured she wasn't satisfied simply because she was hard to please and was perfectly okay with this. It meant she would always be striving for something until there was nothing else to be attained at which point she would have achieved perfection. There was nothing more thrilling than the perfect explosion. This was common knowledge.
Her expression lit up some at his request. Not many people went asking her for help with that kind of thing...or any kind of thing really and that didn't bother her but there was just something about Cutty. It didn't feel right having him NOT know any of the epic stuff. "The library's far too sheltered. Anything useful's in the Restricted Area but it's hardly worth the detention. You should buy your own books like I do. They're brilliant." It'd shocked her father the first time she opted to use candy money to buy a book but after learning of the subject it all became clear. "I'd love to help you. There's so much to learn."
Oh? Reducto? "Homework?" She KNEW she'd been forgetting something when she walked in here. It was good of Cutty to remind her even if it wasn't intentional. "Maybe it's like you said and you need different material." If things weren't fine enough she wouldn't go recommending people. Those took certain other curses to get just rightly dissolved and out of your hair. Instead, Lex stepped back and watched him cast.
"That wasn't half bad at all. If you really want it finer you'll have to imagine the power behind the spell even while you cast. You're gonna have to really want it shattering into fine pieces of dust. Like this." Lex took aim at another dummy not far away and actively thought about the most annoying person she'd every met, then "Reducto!" BOOOOM! There was a brief gathering of dust and smoke that quickly dispersed, revealing the fine dust of the once dummy on the floor. He was free to have a look before they tried again.

Maybe aiming and stuff wasn't his strong point? Movement and incantation AND aiming? Magic was NOT as easy as it looked. Kyroh stared at the spot in the wall for a second. "I bet you're kind of happy that wasn't you. But It might be you in a second if I get this right." Yes. He was still talking to the Dummy. And blinking slightly as he did so.
Taking a couple steps CLOSER to the Dummy just so his aim would be better. Kyroh raised his wand once more. He aimed and-"Reducto!"....Nothing happened. And it took him a second before he realized he had forgotten the wand movement.
"RedUCTO!"He yelled once more a quick to the right and then a quick flick to the left. A smaaaallll blast came from his wand and hit the dummy in the shoulder. But it was slightly pathetic.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
It was like his wand at a will on its own which could be very true since he had one of the powerful ones that was difficult to control but the Gryffindor refused to keep missing the dummy. So with a loud huff of annoyance, Kevin re-pointed his Hornbeam wand with Phoenix Feather at the dummy and shouted "Reducto!" while doing the correct wand movement.
There was a quick flash of blue light and a second later there was a loud BANG! The second year's eyes widened with fascination and a huge smile came on his face when he had hit the target and the dummy had exploded right in front of him.
Well, half of the dummy. The top half was missing, blown to bits but the bottom half was still standing.
The boy aimed his wand at the legs, determined to blow up the whole thing now. He waved his wand in right sided V shaped motion and shouted "Reducto!" again. BANG! the spell hit the right leg of the dummy this was ...so cool~! New favorite spell yo!
With a satisfied grin, Kevin decided to leave it like this for today and he would come back another day since the homework wasn't set a week later or so. Pocketing his wand back in its wrist holster, the boy looked at the half blown up dummy and without repairing it, he had turned around and left the room.
Angel could feel the tears coming down her face. "Oh you really are a bad teacher." Angel winked. "A five year old could teach better than you." Angel stuck her tounge out at her bestie, "Anyway it was fun but I do think we might need a Professor or two." Angel smiled. "One to help the first professor who is laughing too hard to do anything." Angel giggled, she was sure that if a Professor walked in now then they would totally be rolling on the floor with all the laughing.
Was Angel crying? Leah felt bad at that. "I agree to that." Was that the first time she was agreeing with Angel? Meh, probably. She looked around for a professor. She did not know if she was hoping to find one or not, this situation was embarrassing but they desperately needed help. The second year's mind told her that if her best friend stayed like that for a long time she was going to get hurt. "I don't think two is enough either. Both will be laughing too much."
But there were older students practicing Reducto, and Leah waved her hands at them. "Hey, can you give us a hand? A firstie glued to the ground and a little girl with huge feet here!" she yelled. Help, pretty please?

Adi settled himself back into position after examining the dummy just as it repaired the blotch on it's nose so that it was good as new. Maybe if he had candy as motivation, he would blast the dummy to smithereens. Hmm. How about he just reward himself with some chocolate frogs afterwards? No, wait. He would only reward himself if he blast the dummy at least two times. Yes! That was perfect!
With the thoughts of chocolate frogs afterwards, Adi eyed the dummy and raised his wand so that it was pointing directly at its tummy area. "Reducto!'' Slash to the left then to the right plus a lot of concentration.
More blue light left his wand. Straight for the dummy it went and BOOM! The dummy was blasted into little pieces!
Could he sit down and do this. It would accomplish the same task and Nigel would not have to be standing. Maybe he was a little too lazy today and he had no reason to be. Weird.
Look at that dummy. Just standing there not a care in the world and about to get it's head or shoulder blown off with a curse. Ignorance at it's finest. Or just an inanimate object doing what it was intended to do. Either one works for Nigel.
"Reducto"
Another blast of blue light and he clipped the dummies right shoulder off. Maybe he should concentrate harder next time.
Sounded like a good plan.

Buying his own books. That was going to be a possibility very soon. His mother's side of the family had only recently let him go off on his own to the store and his step-mother, with whom he'd built a rather please me or perish relationship, had become far too dotting for him to get away.
His mother remained ever the suspicious Slytherin.
It was not impossible, but as he could not practice at home and rarely at school, it hardly seemed the sneaky thing to do. At least, as a twelve or thirteen year old boy. Though, he could see how Lex could get away with it. She was of the class and gender that could. Maybe he'd try to marry her later or something. He wouldn't mind being Cutty Cambridge for the right price. H'mm...Cutty Cambridge. Sounded somewhat designer. "My parents have a system in place." He sighed. "If I give you some dosh, would yew mind picking me up a few the next time yer out buyin' books y'self?"
He got up close to inspect the fine grain which Lex had reduced the dummy to. It was almost confectioners sugar. He could see as he knelt down over it and took up a fist full. "I'm surprised she let us use this curse and even showed us how. ...think she's testing oos?" For what, he couldn't say, but it was a stray from the normal Romanos class. Most of the stuff was more on the harmless side. She knew a lot about monsters, though and dark creatures.
He let the powdered defense dummy slide through his hand as it pulled itself back together before firing off another attempt, keeping Lex's words in mind. Desire a powder. Desire disintegration. "Reducto!" His recently reassembled dummy again fell to teensy bits. It was slightly better than the first attempt, though some coarse grain was still present. Soon the thing started pulling itself together once more, quick as.

There were a lot more people in here than Simon had expected. By choosing to go early during dinner time, he had thought that he would have gotten the entire Dueling Arena to himself. It would have been quiet and perfect. However, there was nothing he could do about it at the moment... unfortunately. He shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly. Meh. He would just have to adapt.
Keeping to himself, he headed towards an open dummy. Placing his bag on the ground, he took out his wand and took a deep breath. He could do this. He had read about this spell a lot in various textbooks that he had found in the Library. Inhaling, he moved his wand in a v-formation from right to left and then uttered the words, "Reducto!" A streak of blue light burst from his wand and obliterated the dummy's shoulder. He pursed his lips and examined the dummy. "Hmm...Not too shabby. Aim could be improved," he said as he steadied his arm and prepared to try again.

Zander looked at Lux all funny. Of course he doesn't have a girlfriend. He could hardly keep up with himself at the moment, imagine having another human being to look after. Nope. No girlfriend. At least not now. And Zander was totally cool with it. So cool, in fact. Besides, WHAT WOULD HIS MOTHER THINK?! That would not go down well in the Adair household. Oh another person?! Maybe the dueling arena was how friendship happened? Why hadn't he come down here before?! Wowww, this place must be magic. He tried to give a warm smile to the new guy that walked up, but his nerves were starting to kick in. There were so many people here now. Including this other girl that was with this kid (Cris). "Uhm, erm, hi Cris, I'm uh, I'm Zander," he said looking at the older Hufflepuff. AH ZANDER. Why so shy? This boy is being really nice. Normally older kids are scary, but he's nice. He even SMILED. "Yeah, I've definitely seen you around though, like uhm, lessons and stuff? But this castles so big and busy it's hard to meet everyone," the third year let out a small chuckle. SEE he was making an improvement? Longer sentences. He was working on things.

Then Zander turned back to his dummy, that he hadn't actually hit yet, and looked it straight in the eye. Or where it's eyes would be if it had eyes. AH THERE WERE SO MANY PEOPLE WATCHING HIM NOW. Bay, Lux, Cris, Cris's friend, and probably the wizard gods or something. There was so much pressure. He had to get it right this time. After misaiming the last time, it was now or never. He did the sideways "v" motion like Bay had instructed and carefully yelled, "Reducto!"
BOOOOOOOOOM!
YAY! A hit! He finally hit it. He finally got the target! He did a little happy jig without even realizing it and then came to an abrupt stop as he remembered he was in a room full of others. "Heh... Heh... Heh..." he let out a forced laugh in his embarrassment. "GUYS I DID IT, I ACTUALLY DID IT!" What a joyous day to be a Zander! Turning back to his dummy he noticed that it was all healed up again. BOOOOOOO.

Haha, oh gosh. Could Lux take Zander and keep him in her pocket? Or would that be weird? His shyness and awkwardness was so adorable. "I am the same age as you, and at the start of last term I thought dating was gross too. So I totally get how you feel. But that all changed when I started kissing boys." Nod. Kissing was fun. Maybe if Zander tried it some time, he would like it too! "Cake is ALWAYS fun." And anything involving Bay was awesome; so it was logical to conclude that she would love him feeding her cake.
Seeing Cris and Jasmine join their little group, she smiled and gave them both a wave. It was always great to see her friends. "Hey, guys! Yes, Bay is a great teacher. He is my favourite teacher." Flamsteed was her favourite PROFESSOR, but he did not beat Bay in her eyes. Nope. Boyfriend was definitely the best in her books.
Watching Zander manage to blast his dummy, she clapped her hands excitedly. "Way to go! I knew you had it in you!" See?! Bay was the best teacher! Beaming, she turned her attention back to her own dummy, who had already healed. Making the slashing wand movements, she called out, "REDUCTO!" And that made three hits. BOOYA!

Arista returned the next day refreshed and ready to cast the Reductor Curse again. For the past couple days, she had first tried casting it, and that had been a success, so she was excited about that and she was ready to be trying it again.
So here she was back to practice again, she could barley stay away she loved dueling, she really had to duel with someone!! She assumed her sideways footing and stretched her wand arm.
She closed her eyes and took a couple of deep breaths, as she did she began to clear her mind before bringing up the image of the dummy in front of her. She raised her wand made a quick slash right and then to the left forming the sideways V and yelled out "Reducto!!"
Instantly, a bright beam of light shot out from her wand, and flew straight to the dummy.
BANG!!!
The dummy was out of there! And all over the floor, yay!!

Frustration, sadness and all that negative emotions are foreign to the young boy. After attending a not so good potions class, Ethan decided to get on with his Defense Homework, which included practicing the Reductor Curse. What better way to release that frustration and cool his head than setting a dummy into smithereens, yeah? The Slytherin opened the door to the arena and found familiar faces practicing the Curse. He gave a nod and a wave to those who saw him came in and got himself a dummy at the far end of the room. As much as he wanted to interact with the others, he thought it best to be alone for now until he got his feelings sorted.
Yup.
Focusing on the dummy before him, Ethan got his wand out and practiced the spell inside his head and the wand movement with his hand. Without warning, Mordred’s voice rang in his head just before he casted the spell. “Remember that intent is key to make an offensive or defensive spell to work. It should be simultaneous with your incantation.” Ethan breathed in and extended his arm forward, wand dangerously pointing at the dummy. “Reducto!” with an image of an exploding dummy in his mind before he even casted his spell, Ethan was able to blow up the dummy’s head. Didn’t Mordred tell him that emotion can play a huge part too? The Slytherin pursed his lips as he looked down on the floor and twisted his wand wrist preparing himself for the next blow. If he was in a good mood, he would have exalted right then and there that he got the spell right on the first try, but didn’t.
Mordred's right after all. Ethan could be a dangerous wizard if he masters the art of focusing his mind on the task at hand.

Seeing Lux hit the dummy again made him smile.. "see she's just as good as I am" he thought while watching her. but Zander on the other hand….. wait.. he's trying again… and then BOOM…. the kid totally hit the wall beside the dummy.. "great try dude, you just need to aim your wand a little bit better" a straight arm point always helps in that situation.
Now that Zander was practicing still he thought it was a good time for him to give it ago again. "Reducto" he pointed his wand at the dummy and then BAM!!!!!! it blew up… "wicked" This homework was fun because he got to explode things heheheh.
and then he heard voices behind him as he turned he saw it was Cris and Jasmine. "hey guys" he said while giving them a look that kind of said "ooooooo you guys are here together" but he didn't say anything. Back again watching Zander he heard Lux and Cris talking about how good of a teacher he was d'awwwwww "stop it you guys your making me blush" he pretended to gush and blush to make them all laugh.
But looking at his watch he saw that it was getting late and he needed to go and finish some more homework.. "oh sorry guys.. I have to go finish up some more homework… Zander if you still need my help with out blowing things up just catch me in the Common room." he winked at him. "Lux I'll see you at dinner… and the same with you two" he pointed at Cris and Jasmine. He walked over to his bag and picked it up and slung it over his shoulder as he made his way out of the duelling arena.

Adi pumped his fist into the air. He had blasted the dummy! That meant he had to get the dummy into pieces at least once more. Who knew candy would be such a proper motivator. Meh. That was good to know though.
The dummy has repaired it self by now so Adi readied himself once more. "Reducto!'' Cue the sideways V wand movement. Blue light raced towards the poor dummy. BOOM! There it went, into tiny little pieces once again. Oh yeah! Adi was pleased not not because of getting the hang of this spell but also because he noticed his spell work in general was improving this term.

Win the duel AND get his hat back! That was his unrealistic goal.
He watched as the man moved HIS hat towards his own head and the Gryffindor's eyes widened. "Your forehead is too big for the hat! Now give it ba---....oh..." HOW ON EARTH DID THE HAT FIT?! Confusion was written all over his face as Flamsteed was now wearing HIS hat.
Muttering bad words under his breath, Kevin decided to concentrate on the spell he had sent his way. His eyes were getting wider with enthusiasm because he just KNEW that his spell would hit the Professor. But then...he ....blocked it....Shield Charm? or..."YA! THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO HIT---"
The boy's eyes widened when he saw a flash of light flying directly at his face. He had not heard which spell the Professor had said and he didn't want to find out when it would hit him. So the Gryffindor ducked to the floor, holding his arms above his head in defense and felt the energy of the spell rush over his head.
So...this was what a duel was eh? He lifted his head up to look at the Professor and pointed his wand back at him. "Flip.." WHAT WAS THE SPELL AGAIN?! He had written down and practised spells but NOW he couldn't remember them!?
Oh! He remembered! "FLIPENDO!" ...oh gosh he was such a noob.
Alright, the astronomer was feeling a bit cocky now. Amused and cocky, a dangerous combination when it came to a one Airey Flamsteed. It was that combination that had made his five-year-old self believe that he could fly and instead ended up with a broken leg. He didn't make any comment in regards to the hat, however, despite really wanting to. A smirk would suffice for now.
"Language, Mr. Hirase," Airey scolded with a judgemental squint in the young man's direction. And he wasn't about to make an off hand confession in regards to the hex that had just been sent that way being futile in that the Gryffindor was using the professor's own hex against him. Nope, no monologue-ing from this astronomer evil mater mind.
Pity his spell hadn't hit though. He was sure that the young man would have looked amusing with big ol' beaver teeth.
Readying himself for what spell to cast next, Mr. Hirase was already throwing the next spell his way. Or, er, starting to as it seemed like he was a bit tongue tied. Suppose Airey didn't need to cast Langlock on the young man. Mr. Hirase was doing it to himself. The hesitation did allow the astronomer plenty of time to strategize what he would do next. Instead of casting yet another Shield Charm, because that would get redundant and predictable, he cast Expelliarmus to rebound the spell back towards Mr. Hirase.
Defense was sometimes the best offense. Heh.

Why not have one more shot with the spell? Adi was feeling pretty confident plus he had earned his Chocolate Frogs so that doubled his happiness. He watched as the last bit of the dummy reassembled itself before raising his wand for the last time.
"Reducto!'' he said loudly and clearly with utmost concentration. The third year made the appropriate wand movement that went with the spell. Once more, blue light destroyed the dummy! Oh yeah! Grinning from ear to hear, he said to the dummy as it repaired itself, "Thanks for being a real sport and allowing me to destroy you thrice.'' Hehe. Anyway, Chocolate Frogs, here he came!

The first year had been putting off doing her homework for about as long as she could. Waiting until the last minute to do certain things was just in her blood. Dragging her feet, she finally made her way into the dueling area, and boy was it packed. It seemed like she wasn't the only one who waited until the last minute. It was so busy in there that she was sure that she was missing familiar faces. Oh well, it was time to get down to business.
AJ was not really looking forward to this considering that she didn't have such a good go with it during the lesson. Deciding that it was a good idea to go over the whole thing again, AJ did some practicing. "Reducto, Re-duc-to, Reducto, Re-duc-to." The spell really was easy enough to say. Now she decided to practice the sideways v thingy. Swish, swish. Now it was time to put the two together, and this is when the fun starts... not really.

Heh.
Language.... Kevin rolled his eyes. Almost all the Professor had said that to him now. "What? You can't speak English?" he grinned.
Kevin had only time to widen his eyes when the spell was rebounded HIS way and when it hit his chest he was actually lifted off of the ground and flew backwards in the air by the force of the spell. He didn't fell off of the platform but he landed on his side and even rolled a bit further to the edge of the platform. When he stopped, the Gryffindor groaned as he grabbed his shoulder. "Owww...." it hurt! He had fallen down so many times in his life but this time it bloody hurt!
This was NOT how he had pictured that the duel would go. He had pictured it with an audience and everyone cheering for him as he would win from the Professor! Chyeeaah, he was glad there was no one around to watch now...
The boy got up on one knee and realised that something was missing. His wand! Where was it?! Looking around, frantic with worry, he spotted his wand a few steps away from him and after glancing up at the Professor he quickly jumped up and ran over to it.
Reaching it, he grabbed it but stumbled over as he did so he pointed it in the direction man. "Everte Statum!" ..............nothing happened. Panicking, Kevin WAVED his wand around, creating smoke in the air but he ignored it. "Everte Statum! Everte Statum!" Orange light finally flew out of the wand and raced its way over to the man.
In the mean time, Kevin was coughing because of the smoke.

Okay, maybe it was a lucky shot. Ethan made a face as he saw that the dummy’s head healed completely. Like…it didn’t explode or anything. The Slytherin swished his wand wrist and formed the sideways V-shape movement as he kept on repeating the incantation in his head. “Clear intent, buddy. Focus.” His dad’s voice rang in his head this time. Ethan felt nostalgic when he heard it—clearly missing his father. The Slytherin shook his head trying to clear out his thoughts, and focused on the task at hand. “Reducto. Clear intent. Make that dummy go boom.”
Ethan took an offensive stance and pointed his wand at the dummy. “Reducto!” the dummy slid backwards and its torso bore a cut. Not exactly the result he was hoping for. The Slytherin slumped his shoulders in disgust. Was he going to fail at DADA? Mordred and his father won’t be happy about it.
“Focus, Mordaunt!”

This had to be her favourite homework Romanos had ever given. How often did a Professor say go forth and disintergrate as you will?--With obvious limitations of course but that didn't matter. She was practically being graded on making things blow up and that was satisfication enough for the Gryffindor. The explosions.
Lex looked to Cutty at the mention of his parents having a system in place. What did that even mean? "A system? One that doesn't work for you? If so you should say as much. Let them know it won't work and have them make a new one." That's what she'd always done and there was hardly a time her father wasn't willing to oblige. It made no sense telling her not to buy the books, she'd get them anyway and she was of no danger to anyone because of the magic age rule so harmless essentially. "I'll do you one better." She said to answer his question. "I've got a couple that I've exhausted already. Follow me to my Common Room after we're done and you can borrow some for as long as you need." Wasn't like she'd be in any rush to get them back.
Cutty had a good point though. The Professor never let them do anything dangerous. "If she is, I'll fail because I'm going to use this anyway I see fit and I'm guessing she'd be wanting responsibility if this is a test" In some ways Alexa was a disappointment and she knew this but it didn't bother her. She was much too busy having fun.
Lex watched him try again but could tell he wasn't completely satisfied as yet. That was fine. They had all day if that's what it took. Again she took aim at a dummy. "Reducto!" BOOM! Another puff of smoke and dust that eventually settled on the ground. This time the Prefect did walk over to it to test the texture for herself. It was so smooth it almost felt like liquid. Expected given how long she'd been practising this spelled. She must have taught it to herself last term or the term before.

Angel decided that it was time to practice the DADA homework she wondered if anyone was already there but she wasn't going to look around it.
"Reducto!!" Angel decided that she was going to practice her spell by just saying the spell at first. "Red...U...CT...O" Angel made sure she was saying it correctly. "Reducto!"" Angel beamed now it was time to put everything together and to make a mess or at least to try and destroy the targets, well okay not destroy it but hit it.

All practiced up, there was nothing left to do, but to actually do it. AJ let out a sigh and stared at the dummy. It was just her and the dummy. The first year tried to block out all of the noise around her and pretended that she was the only one in the room.
Holding her wand firmly in her right hand, she yelled "Reducto!" Sideways v motion was going full force, annnnd nothing. The dummy didn't move. There wasn't any light that came from her wand. Why did she always have problems? Why did it always take her a million tried before she got something right? Why, why, why? This was going to be a long homework assignment. She could just feel it.

“Come on Ethan. You can do this!” The young Slytherin scolded himself as he jumped up and down to calm his nerves. He was obviously being hard on himself and noted that he should relax and focus at the task. He knew that once he gets this thing in his system, he’ll be good to go. “Focus, Intent…Follow through.” Yep. His father said those words too when he opened to him that he wasn’t good in DADA. Aldred however will not accept this, so he ended up showering his own son with advice. Too bad Ethan is under-aged and can’t practice while he’s with his father. “Now is the perfect time to put those theories into practice!” The thought made Ethan grin, and found a new dose of confidence.
All right. Make the dummy go BOOM.
Ethan stood with an offensive stance and got his wand pointing at his dummy. “You will go boom…REDUCTO!” Focus, intent, and a follow through earned him a solid hit and the dummy did explode…the thing’s center’s insides were everywhere and an arm was missing. Possibly blown up into smithereens? Ethan pumped a fist in the air. “Yusss!”
Well, he needs to try again just to be sure. Who knows? Maybe he just got lucky.
