Simon smiled as Caleb said that Australia was cool. Oh yes, it was an awesome place to live: the food was delicious and the beaches were so much better. He raised his eyebrows curiously when Caleb informed him that his family had been going there for many years. So he and his twin had legacy right? It seemed like it with a family filled with Gryffindors and Slytherins. "All you need is a Ravenclaw in your family and then you'll have all the houses taken care of," he said with a wide grin because the Ravenclaws were pretty cool. He figured that he would have been one if not for the Sorting Hat seeing how much ambitious and cunning he was. "I'm the only one in my family to come to Hogwarts. I hope my sister discovers that she has magic because I have a feeling that she'd love this place. Also it would be nice to have someone who understands magic in the family," he added with a chuckle. It was hard trying to explain all of these concepts to his parents. His mum wouldn't remember half of it and his father didn't understand it simply. Simon's brother just didn't want to listen. Oh well, family.

Now onto Caleb's Uncle. "That's a sad. Were you close to him? Sorry if that's too personal of a question- you don't have to answer it if you don't want to. I'd understand.." he began rather awkwardly and then tried being optimistic with his dormmate. "Hopefully you'll hear from him soon?"

"Ugh, no thanks," Caleb said with a chuckle, wrinkling his nose in disgust at the idea of a RAVENCLAW in the family. They just..weren't a Ravenclaw type of family. Then again, they weren't a Hufflepuff type of family either, and then Alex came along. Speaking of, Caleb had asked again about him, and he didn't mind at all. It was kind of fun talking about Uncle Alex. Everyone had to have the oddball in the family, yeah?

"It's ok, I don't think he ever really felt like PART of the family, and it turns out he really is only my half-uncle, if that makes sense," he explained. Yes, his father was not ACTUALLY Alexander Greingoth as they'd all thought. Once Alex found that out - well, he was off on his own path then. "And he travels because he harvests wood with runes for wand manufacturers," he explained. So it wasn't like he was just running around the world with no idea where he was going.

Ok, enough about HIS family...

"So are you...muggleborn?" he asked, hoping he didn't insult him. "I don't mean to pry, but it sounds like you're the only magical one in your family," he pointed out. If he was - he had to be the first muggleborn Slytherin like...EVER. Slytherins were almost ALWAYS halfblood or more.

The Snake's blue eyes widened as Caleb went into a little more detail about his Uncle. Poor guy. It must have been painful to not feel like he was apart of their family, but he supposed that finding that he was only half related to the family probably did answer some questions that Alex may have had. His Uncle harvested wood with runes for wand makers? Wow. That was awesome. "That sounds pretty interesting to do. I'd like to travel for a job one day," he said with a nod. Seeing the world would be amazing.

Simon nodded at Caleb's question. He wasn't offended by Caleb questions as he was proud that he was a muggleborn. Simon honestly didn't know which community he fit in: the muggle or the wizarding one. He had always been the odd one out in the muggle community so he was glad to learn that he could be apart of a different and more exciting community. "Oh no, you're not prying. Don't worry. I am a muggleborn and proud of it. It's hard to explain things to the parents about magic. They don't really understand it all so I don't really tell them much," he said, shrugging his shoulders as if it wasn't a big deal or anything when really it was a big deal to him.

Caleb chuckled slightly and patted his dormmate on the back. "I think you might have set a record - you might be the first muggleborn to be a SLYTHERIN," he said with a grin. "Not that there's anything wrong with that! But you know our house history - pureblood mania and all that," he said, waving his hand nonchalantly. He hoped Simon didn't take it the wrong way. It was kind of cool, actually! Caleb had a few muggle things at his house, since their Great Uncle Ben insisted on immersing them in muggle culture sometimes. And by that - he meant they had a TV. A BIG one. Until it broke when he was about eight or so.

"Yeah, I'm more of the fighting type, though. I wanna be an Auror," he said with a grin. "What about you? Any idea what you want to go into?" he asked, although if he didn't know, he wouldn't be surprised. Most kids their age had no idea what to do with their lives. Caleb was just really...driven. Yeah.

Leah was tired of the cold winter-spring, and wanted desperately to get out of the castle. As if she actually would dare to. She could not even walk out of her common room on her own. Why she was here at the second floor, however, was to meet Angel. It had been a while since they had chatted. It was difficult, with the Lion living eight floors above her. Bundled up in her cloak, the Hufflepuff heard a squeak. And another.

She turned around a corner and saw the suits of armour in the long corridor. Leah sighed. She thought it was those creatures attacking the school. Calming down, she realized that it was the place they had promised to meet. The second year sat down in the middle of the corridor facing a suit and yawned. Couldn't help it.

Angel was walking around trying to figure out what to do. "Leah!" Angel smiled as she thought about a few things that was going on. "How are you today?" Angel had no idea what she was going to say or do next because well Leah had been avoiding her for some reason and she had no idea why, so she just stood there doing nothing and waiting for Leah to speak first because she was the one upset about something or avoiding her for some reason.

Stretching her arms wide, Leah looked up to see Angel right in front of her smiling. "Hey Angel." she smiled, her eyes teary because of the yawning. She sniffed and wiped her eyes. Maybe she should go get some sleep? "Oh I don't know, not really good." As in tired. The lessons and cold should not come at the same time.

"What about you? We should meet more often, you know. Chat about stuff not related to the weather such as.. your love life." A mischevious smile crept up her face.

Angel was just looking around wondering what was going on when suddenly.

Was she turning red, she really felt like she was.

"What do you mean?" Angel was trying to stop blushing. "Who's been telling things to you?" Angel then looked at Leah. "It's not like you've not got a crush on someone, I'm sure you do." Angel just had a crush on a boy that was a couple of years older than her.

Simon may have set a record? A look of confusion flickered on the boy’s face. First mugleborn in Slytherin? Well you know, Simon hadn’t really thought about that fact before until Caleb brought it up. He had kind of assumed that there had been more muggleborns secretly in the house. “Really? Uh… That’s really neat,” he said and grinned. PEOPLE WOULD REMEMBER HIM! He felt gleeful. For he could have cared, he could have done a jig right there but Caleb was there and he thought Caleb was pretty cool so he’d save the dancing for another time. “Yeah, yeah, it is sort of surprising after Slytherin’s past.” He was glad to be in Slytherin. It was the right fit for him.

“An Auror? he repeated with wide eyes. That would be amazing. “Awesome! It’d be brilliant to be that. That’s like being a detective, right?” Then Caleb asked him what he wanted to be. Oh, right. Well honestly, Simon could see himself in many fields. He had been told that he’d make a good Professor, a good Healer, and an awesome Detective. “I don’t know. I either want to be an Auror or a Professor. But I’d have to learn more about being an Auror. I love investigating things.”

Leah looked up expectantly at her bestie, hoping to get a decent reaction. She grinned when Angel turned red. So that was true, huh? The rumour she heard? "Nobody's telling things. Just.. you know, when you are trapped inside a castle you start poking around looking for interesting stuff." Uh huh.

"You're right. I do have crushes on boys." Leah admitted. She wasn't embarrassed about that. And it wasn't only a crush. "So you haven't got to the real dating yet? Only a.. crushing status for now?" This was getting really funny. "I certainly hope you get the boyfriend you want, Angel." No matter how much they joked around, they were still best friends after all.

"Okay," he said, nodding. Oh, alright. The police officers of the Wizarding World? Well THAT made sense. Simon wasn't really into the physical side of everything but perhaps being an Auror would be super cool. He'd get to solve a crime and be as cool as James Bond. What boy wouldn't want that? "Why do you want to be an Auror?" he asked curiously.

Simon paused. "I don't know honestly," he said with a chuckle. His two favourite subjects were Astronomy and Charms. But Ancient Runes was interesting. "I don't know. Well, the power of course! But Caleb knew that wasn't something you just blurted out to someone you had just met. Sophie and his family maybe, but he wasn't about to tell this kid that he wanted to be able to strike fear in the hearts of dark wizards just by the mere mention of his name. That might scare him off! "Well, I want to be sure everyone is safe. You know, protect the kids at Hogwarts and stuff - just like regular police officers do. Right?" he asked. He wasn't too schooled on what exactly they did but he was sure it was something similar to that.

"Me either," Caleb agreed with a chuckle when Simon said he couldn't do Herbology, History of Magic or the other pointless subjects. Seriously, who needed Arithmancy? It was sooooo dull and boring. "I'd want to do Charms. Or Care of Magical Creatures. It's so fun taking care of the animals and studying them!" he said.

New places. Tag needed to find new places in the castle to try and make slightly warmer. Even if his magic had always been rather weak, even when he performed it well, it wouldn't hurt for the castle to slightly warm up. That is, hoping most students were putting this charm to use now that they had it in their grasp.

Ah, there. The blonde came about to a place he felt heat was needed. The suits of armour. He could even try getting a few of them covered rather than just one.

He stood somewhere around the center suit of armour and practice his wand movement in one long swish, trying to cover a greater area than he had done before. After the short practice Tag said "Caelum Saepio" and swished his wand in one elongated infinity sign movement. A small fog floated through the air and around the suits of armour. There. That should do it for now.

Angel looked at Leah and smiled. "Oh someone has been telling you something I can tell, we aren't bestie for no reason." Angel gave her friend a quick hug. "Who do you fancy then?" Angel would try and get her a date with her crush, she was sure she could do it.

"No not yet, but I'm not sure i'm into that, after all i'm only a first year." Angel thought it was confusing leaving year 6 to go back to first year instead of Seventh year but she would get used to it eventually.

Leah returned the smile. "No no no, I can tell things on my own, you know." she said, nodding. She patted the little girl's head when they hugged. She felt that Angel had grown since they last met. "Just a couple of boys that you don't know." Leah replied, sticking out her tongue. She was two hundred percent sure her bestie did not know Jun for that matters.

"Only a first year? You're going to be a second year soon!" the Hufflepuff squealed. She remembered the day they first met, when Angel did not know much about Hogwarts. The little girl was SO cute then.

The armours were fascinating!
So she wanted to try to warm a bit the suit of armours!
After choosing a suitable place to throw her spell she started to concentrate. .
She made the eight-shaped mouvement with her wand and she said:"caelum sepio! "
Lucy has not seen the fog out of the wall but she felt a bit of warmth!

The brunette was just going around, doing her service to Hogwarts. She was making the castle a warmer place, one spot at a time. If only there was a bigger spell, that would be cool. AJ could then just shoot a spell and it would affect the whole corridor instead of just one little spot. That made so much more sense to the firstie. There had to be a better way. Still, this was her homework so she would do it no matter what she thought personally about it.

Ahem. What were the odds that she would be able to get it right the first time? "Caelum Saepio." Annnnd nothing. She did the eight motion thing perfect and everything. What was it? What was she doing that her wand didn't like? Her wand was totally not respecting her authority, and that was downright rude. She was younger, but she wasn't a baby, and she wanted respect. Did you get that, wand? "Caelum Saepio." Apparently it did because this go round it worked for her. There was the glorious fog that proved that she wasn't a complete failure. WOOT! AJ only had to do this two more times.

The last place that Lux wanted to insulate was the area where all the suits of armour was. For one thing, it was only a floor above the portraits, and for another the suits of armour were cool. Every time she looked at them, she thought about the Knights of the Round Table and King Arthur. It also made her think of the time last term when she had believed that she had conversed with a knight. Since then she had realized that it was only a student having fun with her, but she was more grown up and mature now.

Finding an area of wall that was near one of the suits of armour, Lux drew the figure eight. "Caelum Saepio!" Again she performed the spell, working until she had done a decent bit of the area she was working in.

And homework done.

Simon nodded. Wow, Caleb was a really nice guy wanting to make sure that everyone was safe just like a normal police officer. "Wow, that's really good of you, mate," he said, imaging that perhaps one day Caleb would even safe his life. That would be pretty cool because this Snake seemed like a pretty cool kid too.

Yep, Herbology and History of Magic were tough. Well they were easy compared to Arithmancy. Yep, that class was just a nightmare that gave him headaches every single tim he sat in the room. Arithmancy just made him want to pull the dark hairs out of his head and he wasn't planning on going bald any time soon. "Agreed. Both are fun and good," he said with a wide grin. Plus the boy would love to be as cool as Professor Fuller. Seriously that guy just oozed the James Bond vibe. The boy was envious of this. "Do you have a favourite creature from COMC?"
