Nod. Lux was sure that most people didn't want to leave Hogwarts. And Addi was a Seventh Year. She was going to miss her friend a lot. The thought of it made her sniffle, and she wiped her eyes hoping that she wouldn't cry. Some of her friends were leaving soon. And then next term her Lion was going to Graduate. Sniffle

At least the mention of ditching classes managed to distract her a little. "I don't know if I could ever do that myself. I feel bad if I don't put in all the effort I can." Which was why she always showed up for lessons even when it was freezing.

Was that a sniffle? Addi looked over at her favorite ginger puff with complete concern. "You okay Lux?" Had she said something? Was something going on that Lux wasn't talking about?

Adelaide bit her lip. "Same. I may say I will, but I will always end up dragging myself there at the last minute." She really was awful at being a rebellious teenager when it came to ditching classes.

Continuing to wipe her eyes, Lux gave Addi a weak smile. "I was just remembering that you Graduate this term." It was so unfair that some of her friends had to leave again. Others already did last term and now it had to happen again. Next term Bay was leaving. Figuring that Addi might not want to talk about it, maybe it wasn't so good of her to have brought it up. But then she HAD been asked if something was wrong and honesty was always the best policy.

Giggle. It really could be hard to ditch classes. Not that Lux would know because she had never tried to. "I have this thing with failure, so I can never allow myself to miss classes or not do homework." Could be rather annoying at times, she had to admit but that was just the way she was.

Ah that. Yeah that was still a thing. Adelaide gave Lux a faint smile. "It's a very sucky thing." Because she was still figuring things out. Sure she had applied at a couple unis and still had quidditch things, but both of those things were still up in the air.

Seems Addi and Lux had even more in common. "It was hard for me to do the work, then I decided uni was a thing meaning I needed to do pretty well on my NEWTs." Plus it was killing her slightly not to be studying all the time, but she had been so depressed for those first few months back.

Yes, it was a very sucky thing. Getting up from her seat she went over and gave Addi a hug. She would miss her friend when she left, but there would still be summer and Hogsmeade. That at least made her happy. Hogsmeade was totally awesome.

Oooh, University! "I always wanted to play Quidditch, so I never thought about University. But now I don't think I will ever play Quidditch. I'm too scared." It made her so sad because that had been her dream. But she was still young and had a lot of time to figure something out. "I am sure you will do good on your NEWTs! You are not a bad Witch at all."

Halcyon sat stiffly upright with her legs crossed at the ankle. Her hair was carefully plaited up into milkmaid-style braids, creating a crown that could be seen from behind her antique copy of Frankenstein. Her fingers, delicately wrapped up in her lace tea gloves, touched her lips vacantly as she read.

She'd normally be off somewhere making to-do lists or waiting about for her twin or trying to achieve all her life goals in a single day, but she'd grown a bit weary of all that. She'd been feeling down on her luck after all her fruitless efforts to be "successful" and she didn't exactly have anyone to talk to. Not her sister. Not Casper. When she asked Prefect Elodie about making friends she'd only gotten some strange (but not entirely unuseful) advice.

Hallie sighed a little from behind her book, kicking her legs a little but maintaining her eerily perfect posture.

She really needed to not forget the books she needed to read. Just when she settled back in her dorm to actually do some real studying, she remembered that she forgot to borrow the book she needed. So here she was again, back at the library. Not that she was complaining about coming here. But in the process she did waste time, and the more her studying was delayed the more her fun time was delayed. So she really wanted to squeeze in those couple of hours of studying.

So she decided to read this book here and now instead of going back to the common room and waste time while doing so.

And she was going to sit right there near that girl who looked too engaged with the book she was holding. Hopefully it would become contagious. So the snake sat near the other girl and opened the book.

One minute later Cassia yawned. That was one productive minute. She needed to rest or you know, just look around. Ooooh, this girl's hair looked pretty! "Nice braid!" she commented pretty much interrupting and distracting the younger girl who was being productive unlike the seventh-year. Did she know this girl, though? Cassia tilted her head trying to decide whether she did. See, she couldn't get a very good look since the other hogwartian was reading and her face was a bit hidden by the book. STUPID books!

Hallie's eyes darted upward when she was addressed. "Me? Oh, why thank you, I know," she said, putting her book down and touching her hair a little. She smiled brightly at the compliment, but had to double-take at the pretty older girl who'd spoken to her. "....You're Head Girl, right?"

Hallie's eyes lit up. She'd wanted to get to know all the prefects and such. They're model students. They're successful. They're people to look up to.

She smoothed her skirt delicately and shut her book, making sure her smile was as friendly and polite as she could manage.

She liked a confident girl who knew her hair looked pretty, extra points for this one. Cassia leaned back in her seat and brought her knees up resting them against the table's edge. "Indeed I am," As usual she grinned at that. The title was really cool. She was going to miss being called that. "People call me Cassia, though," she said.

Having had a closer and better look at the girl's face, she could remember that face. But the girl didn't show any signs of recognition. Either she was forgetful or Cassia's memory betrayed her. Which when it came faces never did. Was she growing OLD and forgetful?

"Have we met before? You look really familiar?" Of course there was the chance that she'd seen the girl around in classes.

Adelaide smiled as Lux gave her a hug. She wrapped her arms around the younger girl. Man she was going to miss her. She would have to make sure to stay updated on when Hogsmeade was open for the students so she could come visit.

She nodded. "I'm still going to tryout for quidditch. And it's not as scary as it seems." Sure there were people flying around and hitting bludgers at you but that's what your beaters were for. Addi smiled. "Thanks. And I hope so."

Hallie was beaming. "Cassia, then," committing her name to memory.

She shook her head three times with a wide girth. "I would have remembered if I'd met the Head Girl," she affirmed, voice carrying with her usual cadence that sometimes seemed snobbish. "You must be an amazing student...," she said speaking quieter, thinking aloud.

"Perhaps you've seen my sister around. We're twins you see, but she is a pinch more social than I am."

Hmm... So she had not met the girl. Cassia paused pulling at her memory trying to remember where she might have seen that someone who looked like the girl. And as far as Cassia remembered it wasn't even in the castle, it was in Diagon Alley probably since the snake could not remember a house or anything. She had a twin sister?! That explained it. Suddenly everything clicked inside her head. "I see, is her name Coral.. ?" She forgot the rest of the name. But it was a while ago so kudos for her for remembering part of the name, right ?

"What's your name, by the way?" Had she already said that? Didn't think so.

Trying not to laugh at the other comment, the seventh-year just smiled. "Well, thank you but I'm not really that amazing," As a student. As a person she like to think that she actually was. But feeling that she might sound too conceited saying that, she decided against it. "I bet you're a very good student as well," The girl was holding a book for starters.

"Mhm, yes, her name is Coral-Bay. I'm not surprised that you've met her, she is a fan of meeting new people," Hallie said, not showing that she is actually a little jealous that her sister had met the Head Girl before her. "Oh, I apologize, I'm being rude. My name is Halcyon Aldrich. Hallie, really. Halcyon is too hard for people to say." She couldn't count the number of times she had to chant it slowly for people. Hal-see-in.

"I'm an excellent student. I used to be home-taught so I all the best study techniques. I want to be a great success here at Hogwarts." She nodded three times self-assuredly.

Yup! That was the name. Cassia was glad that her memory was serving her well and that she wasn't imagining things or going mad. Growing up, she heard, had lots of effects and she'd rather not be one of those who lots on their minds and would confuse all the things. Her memory was still dandy. "We had met in Diagon Alley before school started," she told the twin whose name she found out was Halcyon. That was a name she wouldn't forget.

"It's a very unique name, though," Well, the snake didn't know anyone with it so she supposed it was. "Does mean anything?" Not all names did but it was fun to know.

More points for this girl for yet again be confident. Cassia nodded approvingly. "That's the spirit," she said encouragingly. You don't meet an aspiring student everyday. "What subject do you like most?" The seventh-year found herself curious to know more about Hallie.

"Ah, yes, that makes sense. This summer was our first we spent back in England for a long time, so Coral spent a lot of time in Diagon Alley. We hadn't been there since we were kids," she said with an air of wistfulness, convinced she was entirely no longer a "kid".

"Yes, thank you! It's an adjective, it means tranquil and is usually used to describe times of prosperity." She nods exactly three times. "It's also a type of tiny bird. It's blue and pretty."

Hallie grinned from ear to ear. The Head Girl seemed to be encouraging her. She'd have to brag tell CB about this later. "Care of Magical Creatures. I adore animals. And magical creatures, of course. I'm particularly fascinated with dragons. I want to work with magic creatures one day," she chattered on, voice lifting with excitement.

Hugs were awesome, and Lux really liked the ones that Addi gave. They were some of the best, though of course none of them beat the ones she got from Bay. "I will see you at Hogsmeade visits. And I want to make you brownies some time." Yes, instead of it being the other way around, Lux wanted to see if she could remember everything that she had been told that time they had baked together. The probably wouldn't taste as good, but it was what it was.

"But it's so high up is the problem." Nod. She wouldn't have so much of a problem with it otherwise. The only thing was she didn't think she could ever play Beater in case she hurt someone. And seeker seemed like such a stressful position. "I might do something with potions instead. I love making potions." Maybe she should head to the lab soon and make another one like she had for Lou that time last term when he ran out of wrinkle cream.

She peered out the window at the snow coming down and shivered. Normally she didn't mind the snow but it had gotten so cold! No one wanted to go out anymore, it was so cold. She curled up in the chair with a book on Greece, she wanted to know more about the place, so when she went on the field trip that summer she wouldn't feel like a complete dunce. Dan had said she was going so Zoe was happy, finally some time away from her family, just her and Dan! Well with a bunch of students...and a professor. Maybe they could sneak away...

They would be only a year away from being of age, when they went on the field trip.

Zahra had her nose pressed to the glass. IT WAS SO COLD and she basically had frostbite ON her nose, but............. she was bored and freezing boogers beat whatever else Zahra could get up to.

That's why she was in the library - not to study, but because she HAD to behave in here. The library was chock full of nerdy 'Claws and rules, so Zahra had lots of motivation to good. Because truthfully, she was going MAD STIR CRAZY being cooped up and this stupid cold stuff and.. and...

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh was her nose stuck to the glass? HAHA UHM...

It was snowing. In the castle. Marigold actually used to LIKE snow, even LOVE IT A LITTLE, which just goes to show that having too much of something can make one sick of it.

She was STUCK in the castle, where it was SNOWING INDOORS, with no letters to her family or friends, and nothing but classes and trying to keep warm to entertain her. Humph. She was NOT taking this well. She decided she would go to the library and research stuff that could make her feel better, like how one year at Hogwarts they had to deal with fire in the castle or something good like that.

...was Zahra STUCK to the window? Marigold abandoned all thoughts of a burning Hogwarts (and, thankfully, ways to burn Hogwarts) and walked quickly over. Sure enough, it was Z, who was looking outside like her life depended on it. Or she really was stuck. Marigold imitated her and looked out at the snow.

She tugged her nose from the glass, the end of it BEET RED and raw. And NOW, she was accumulating snow. Zahra brushed it all off of her shoulders in one big SWEEP. Then gave a huge, body wide SHIVER. "We could build a snowwife for a suit of armor soon."

Mm. Yes. Frozen brain. Marigold was definitely heading that way soon. "Probably get mad at us. But then we could bribe them with warmth, which we would make by burning more books." Textbooks, most likely, because they had the most paper so they would burn the longest. Marigold dodged the snow Z wiped off and looked at it landing on the ground. Snow indoors... She had no idea it would get this bad.

"Or just make hats out of snow for ALL the suits of armor. Instead of just one snowwife." That would require more movement, which could lead to more warmth, right? "Or enchant snowballs to hit the teachers so we don't get in trouble and they realize they have to do something about the snow." She could see Flamsteed enjoying this, but Fuller or Cosgrach or SOMEONE had to be mad about the situation too, right?

This Puff was crazy. Zahra didn't have any confidence that Marigold had ANY experience with Claws and their books. But it was funny anyway, so she laughed before putting her nose back to the glass. The COLD was so thick she couldn't even really SEE out.

"You ... you know, sometimes, you're REALLY Hufflepuff. Enchant snowballs to hit teachers and NOT get in trouble? I'd get in trouble for just THINKING that. I'm probably losing points right now for YOU saying it and me just being near you," Zahra laughed again. No way was she gonna assault professors with snow. So far, she'd earned more points than she'd lost and planned to KEEP it that way.

But Zahra noted the resentment, the little flare of Puffy Temper. "You're really mad about all of this?"

"I'll take that as a compliment," grumbled Marigold as she clapped her hands to rub them together for warmth. She usually wasn't... Grumbly, but she was really annoyed. But not at Z. So she hastily said, "Sorry. I'm just a bit mad. First ice cream, now snow. Hogwarts is ruining everything cold." She felt bad admitting it, but it was true. Plus, she wanted to write home. Desperately. And really, was it really so weird with the snow that the Headmistress couldn't lift the anti-apparition enchantment and apparate for help?

She faked a grin for Zahra's sake. Everyone was going to get annoyed and stuff, cooped inside for so long, she didn't want to put a damper on her day. "Okay. So snowmen instead of snowballs?" Make light of the situation?

Zahra squinted at the frustrated Puff. It was kind of weird to see; Puffs were usually so full of optimism and marshmallows.

"Forget the snow," if that was even possible, considering it was FALLING FROM THE CEILING?, "if we can't go outside, let's bring outside in. What do you miss most about outside? The Lake? Trees?" Go on. Tell Zahra. She'd make that happen for the sullen Puffy Pants.

Marigold raised an eyebrow and then raised the other to meet it. "Forget the snow? How?" It wasn't for lack of trying. She WAS trying, it was just hard and bleh. She wanted to be all happy-go-lucky in summer again, waaa.

"Hmm." What DID she miss most? "Well, the warmth. But also, sitting by the lake and having a breeze go by and talking with friends…"

At that, she raised both her fists and propped her chin up with them, wiggling her eyebrows at Z. FRIEND. HELLO.
