The Snakes sit under a beautiful silver and green banner representing their house. Their solid, shiny wooden table is nicely polished with all the place settings perfectly set. The food will arrive after the Headmistress' traditional feast speech. To all Slytherins, both new and old: enjoy the feast!
As he kind of watched all the people around him talking and interacting with one another, Gareth started to feel that he was getting bored. Really bored. The former captain looking amusing didn't hold his attention for much time so he was back to eyeing people which quickly let to boredom. So much boredom that it made him stare down at his empty plate and let out a displeased sigh.
When was the Red Headmistress going to gave her speech? He wanted to have his supper and then leave this place as quickly as possible. People being all so social with each other annoyed him. Maybe because he felt left out but he was not going to admit or accept that. Eh...he couldn't expect more as most of them were already friends long before he joined in the house. Not that he was interested in being a part of a loud bunch anyway. Or so he told himself.
The boy was idly playing with his silverware as he heard a girl's voice throw a question somewhere near him. Great. Now they were going to start another conversation from one side of him to another and there was no way he could avoid being stuck in the middle of it, forced to listen, unless he changed his seat which was kind of impossible now for the table looked full.
He turned to see the owner of the voice, only to find the girl looking at him. What? "Are you talking to me?"
Was she being ignored?
GASP.
Beverly was not used to that feeling. At ALL. What was this?! About to turn her nose up and away, she paused when the boy addressed her, peering at him from the corner of her eye. "No, I was talking to a snorting ghost." Mellow. "Yes, you." Evidently there were no ghosts around here.

Beverly she had just introduced herself as to a new Slytherin? Okay. "It's quite well, thankfully,'' Adi replied. "Haven't had any trouble with it. That Healer did a great job.'' But he didn't think she'd be interested in that. "Thanks again for your help, Beverly.'' He grinned and wondered if she ever smiled. She was always so serious.
The question had been mostly to remind him of what she'd done for him, and he didn't even KNOW the entire story of how she had hobbled RAN to get the groundskeeper, playing the distressed student. HA. That had been the best part if you ask her.
"No problem," she said with a shrug, flicking away a tiny piece of lint from her sleeve. Glancing back at him and unknowingly batting her eyes once, she added, "You owe me one." Her tone was light, maybe even at tad playful, but she meant it.

Sweets he'd picked up from Egypt and Canada. But then, Wayne's attention turned elsewhere. Cutty leaned over toward her and turned his head to see from her perspective just what she was looking at.
It took Cutty all of two seconds to realize that he quite liked that quality about Beverly Wayne. The one that enabled her to be strong one minute and vulnerable the next. It gave her a decidedly feminine edge over most other females at that school.
He didn't trust her.
And, she was apparently afraid of ghosts.
"I did. And it's going extremely well. I just started stocking some exotic imports. Meet me in the courtyard tomorrow and I'll let you get a sneak peek." And if Addi liked what he saw he'd probably tell the other Puffs. That's what Cutty was hoping anyway. Nothing like word of mouth advertising.
Beverly did not depend on a reaction from Cutty at her new addition. She simply wanted him to get a glimpse at it. She was sharing, okay, that was a big deal. Beverly Juniper Wayne did not share. But she WAS interested on these imported things Cutty was talking about. "You should show them to me...later." And she had these ghastly dragonfly golden earrings her grandmother had given her for trade. If he was interested.
Peeking from behind the robe she'd snatched, she blinked at Cutty. Don't look at her. She was hiding. Actually... "Could you...move slightly to the right." So he could block her from view. Oh Merlin. Did her brother just turn this way? Hurry, Mordaunt!

............... WELL..................
Girl. Right. "Excuse you, I'm not your bodyguard." She wasn't even paying him. Freaking rude. "What are you doing, anyways?"
She was perfectly fine using this person's robe as a mask. They should even be HONORED she turned to them, really. Especially if it was such a RUDE boy. Peeking at him from behind his own robe, Beverly raised an eyebrow as if she should be the one asking the questions.
Think, Wayne, THINK.
"Obviously you're not," she mumbled. Eyebrows furrowing a bit, she eyed the boy. He wasn't from around her. Lowering his robe from her face and releasing it, her eyes quickly darted from the Gryffindor table back to him. "It's part of initiation," she said quickly, saying the first thing that popped into her mind. "To prove if you're going to be a loyal Slytherin." Good, good! Keep going. "So far you're not doing so well." Nope. Failing. Negative points. BOO.
Anyways. Back to the couple. He wanted to SEE what was happening here.
And could he tell? Not entirely. To him, it seemed as though the girl was trying to cling onto this Slytherin boy here but he was having none of it. Heh. That's right. Keep cool, unknown Slytherin.
Speaking of unknown Slytherin, look who had turned to notice them. He didn't know why the other boy was smiling -- about to ask for a favour, perhaps? -- but he did understand the need to keep things casual. Grayson nodded in response before saying, "Thank you, Cutty. Seems like a great house from what I can tell." Politeness. "The name's Grayson Whitlock." Again. Surnames. ""
Still not mentioning Little Miss Lady Friend over there.
"Oh, it is, mate. It is." Or at least he sounded happy with it. And he was for the most part. But if he was being totally honest (and really, when was he?), he would've said that he'd hardly thought about it in terms of superiority and inferiority only which one was likely to be the most useful. "Nice to meet you, Grayson Whitlock." Who wasn't eleven at all. "What year are you? You don't look like no firstie."

He looked down at the box suspiciously, then over at the boy next to whom they were deposited (Gareth), then back at the box. "Don't eat 'em, mate! Probably poison." Oh, Merlin. It was Hope Despair Evans. Actually, she wasn't that bad. The girl could talk quidditch, and he sort of liked the fact that she fancied head games. She was in good company. "Hope." He sighed as if it were not even worth his effort to say her name, much less acknowledge her.
Now, the other girl. She was at least in his house and belonged here, he thought. Not that he was the least bit territorial. He picked up on her distinct accent and cleared his throat. "Welcome to Slytherin house, Marisol, was it?" He said warmly before introducing himself. "Cutty Mordaunt. Third year." He said introducing himself to her.
So someone else was joining Marisol in conversation. Good, because she felt alone. She was ready for this, and jumped in. "Thank you. Yes, I'm Marisol." she offered. Mari was pretty much reserved for family and close friend, which this boy wasn't. "First year. How you like Hogwarts?"

Luckily she survived and regained more than she had before. That's what growing up did. Still, she tried to play down her looks.
Stopping at the entrance, multi-colored eyes scanned the place critically. Be vigilant, her brother had told her, and that's exactly what she was doing. Sight falling upon the Slytherin table, she began walking toward.
Huh.
Why was it so quiet and lonely? Last term it had been roaring with people after she'd been sorted. Meh. It didn't matter. Not like she was a people person. Taking a seat on the opposite side of the loner there, the one with the hair, Beverly sent him a curt nod.
"Hello." Polite, she was.
Now the Great Hall was slowly starting to fill up - Caleb was greeted by a girl that he SORT OF recognized but couldn't put a name to. Did he know her? Nah, probably not, he was usually good at remembering people he talked to. No time like the present to get acquainted, yea?
"Hi. I'm Caleb, are you a third year?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

The now former Slytherin Captain sat down in his usual place. Not that he'd handed his badge in yet, that would come after the feast, but he wasn't wearing it either.
This would be the worst feast ever. He could tell. West focused on the sorting ceremony, even though there wasn't much fun in it without Quidditch and wondering who would do well on a house team.
Caleb's smile instantly fell from his face when he saw West sit down. Whoops. Poor guy. Caleb couldn't help but feel sorry for the boy and wish that Quidditch was still around. He hadn't had the heart to tell his captain that he actually hadn't even intended on trying out - why add salt to the wound? But really, it had been better for Caleb to put Quidditch on hold. There were BADGES being passed down next term, and he had his eye on the prize. He needed to focus.
He smiled and gave him a nod of acknowledgement, trying to tell him telepathically that it would be ok. Yeah. West would manage. It might take a while but he'd get there, right?

As long as he was here, why not go say hi? "Hey, guys!'' Adi said as he slid onto the bench next to Caleb. "What's up? Had a good Summer? Where's Sophie, Caleb?'' Questions, questions. Answer the last one first, Caleb. Hehe.
"Oh hey Adi!" Caleb said with a smile, greeting his Hufflepuff friend as he sat down. Adi brought up a good point - where WAS his sister? Caleb blinked and for the first time all feast, realized that she WASN'T anywhere nearby. Huh.
"Good question. Maybe she's in the loo?" he said. He wasn't sure if he was being an irresponsible brother by NOT knowing where she was, or if he was showing a sign of maturity, branching out from his sister and always being tied to her hip. But a small part of him DID like hanging out with her. She was pretty cool and one of the few people who really UNDERSTOOD him. Huh.

That adorable little Hufflepuff girl was there too and Duvessa, who Cutty hadn't yet received payment from for the truce. He didn't plan to target her now, though. That would be silly. Instead in the absence of Sophie Newell, whom he did not spot, he brushed a bit of Sonea's hair as if to say hello. "Duvessa. Wayne....Newell." Then Cutty just wedged his way into the prime seat WITH Caleb.
"Hey, Addi!" He added politely having taken a seat intrusively. Rehman had asked a good question, actually. Where was the other half of the Two-wells?
A second later, Caleb was distracted as Cutty RUDELY squeezed him bum RIGHT into Caleb's seat with him. He shot him a glare and nudged him, trying to get him into his own seat. "Oi! Agatha turned her head around as people started speaking to her. Awesome, they were finally over being depressed. Or maybe these ones where never depressed. Maybe just some Slytherins were depressed, then.
Once Beverly welcomed her to her new house, she smiled and flipped her hair. "Thank you very much. My name is Agatha Hapgood." The thirteen year old nodded her head and tucked a lock of her beautiful her behind her ear. "Nice to meet you, Beverly." Polite, she was.
The Slytherin boy who was talking to that mad girl from the red house gave her a smile, which Agatha appreciated. It proved he wasn't mad like the girl. Oh and he also welcomed her and the guy sitting near her. "Thank you." She repeated, giving Cutty a polite nod. "I'm Agatha Hapgood." She would hold out her hand for him to shake, but he was sitting cross the table from her and it wouldn't be very practical, so she decided against it. She couldn't help but frown at the annoying Gryffindor girl who was now begging for Cutty to forgive her. What was wrong with her anyway? Urgh. Were all Gryffindors annoying? If they were all like Bart and this girl, Agatha most definitely did NOT want to be friends with any of them.
OH. The Head Boy WINKED at her. Agatha's heart skipped a beat and she once again tried not to look too enthusiastic. She hoped she wasn't blushing too much and gave him a quick wave. Hi, Head Boy. HEAD BOY. Wow.
"Nice to meet you too, Cassia." She said, also giving her a polite nod. That girl was an important one, so Agatha should be in her good books. Yep. "Oh, I'm sure I will." She added, fixing her beautiful hair as she pulled it to one side. Oh? Quidditch news? "Did anyone die?"That would explain why everyone looked so depressed. "I'm a third year." She said proudly, nose up in the air. "I suppose you're a seventh year, right? Head Girl?"
Grayson Whitlock. Noted. "Nice to meet you." She said, returning the curt nod. Agatha didn't feel like smiling at him either, so they were even. And if she was recently sorted as well? "Yes. But I got here first so I can welcome you here." Duh. Agatha refrained herself from rolling her eyes at him. See, boys her age were usually not very witty. Grayson was now asking her what she thought was going on. "I know that something serious happened. Someone might have died." That was what she heard, at least. Or not. But well, it all made sense, really. "Something to do with Quidditch."
The thirteen year old kept looking back and forth from Grayson to the Head Boy with a raised eyebrow, but her attention quickly turned back to Cutty and the odd girl. You see, Cutty seemed around her age, but Agatha already approved of his ways. Not that she knew much about him, but the way he was speaking to that girl made her want to smirk. Not that she did; she just kept watching them quietly for a bit longer.

"Thanks, Cat, this means a lot to me," It really did, such words from friends were precious. "And how was your summer? I trust eventful as ever?" Because Cat's summer like Dora's mostly included traveling which was a huge.
Anything? Well. Cat appreciated that Cassia had high regard for her, because she certainly had high regard for her roommate back. "I'll have to take you up on that." Especially in the dorm considering apparently her favorite boy's sister was here and there were no safe places for snogging. With another grin, Cat leaned over and gave Cassia a hug cause YAY HEAD GIRL YOU GO GIRL and because, well... did she need any other reason? It was Cassia!
"Eventful, yeah for sure. My cousin Nova had twins in June so I spent a lot of time with them." Ugh. She was going to miss those babies so much. They were just soooo sweet. When they weren't screaming their heads off, of course. But even then... Cat didn't really mind it. "And Peru and all. Lots of stuff." It had been a very good summer, yes. "What about you?" Tell the Cat all the things, Miss Head Girl.
Finally remembering, Caterina produced the package of cannoli that she'd saved especially for her fellow Slytherins. "Cannoli?"

Alriiight. She got it. Vivi was here and there wasn't anything Cat could do about it. Fine. Big sister won. Cat certainly didn't think that she was bad though, she was a good sister, watching out for Mo. Cat sometimes felt the same way over her brothers and certainly would if any of them were younger than her. She got it.
"Why thank you." She offered the woman another pleasant smile because she was a nice person and Vivi wasn't so bad.

Was it just her or did West seem to be... distressed at every feast? Adi was seriously impressed by Cutty's entrepreneurial skills. But like the whole Cutty being one of his favourite Slytherin thing, the Hufflepuff never admitted that to the other boy. But what he could picture right now was picture Cutty with a ridiculously humongous head. Adi laughed to himself, not realising he was doing it aloud. Oh, well. He did have some encouraging words for his friend, though. "That's great work, Cutty! Keep it up.'' The exotic sweets spiked his interest immediately. "Of course! Can't wait.'' Sweets were one of the best things in the world, after all.
Adi knew there was more to Beverly than just an innocent face. He should have known that he would owe here. Not that he minded. He grinned. "Sure. Anything you need just ask.'' Yep. Waaaait! He had something else to add. "Anything except doing your homework.'' Because he would have his own and as if having to do your own homework wasn't hard work already.
"Alright. You should come to the courtyard with me and Addi." But then she was definitely a shreiking violet the next moment and Cutty was looking quite stern.
"Aarrrmmgh!" Came his little grump!noise of protest even as his behind was up and skooting over to the right. Slightly to the right. Why was it that Beverly Wayne could get him to do things?
"Sure, just let me know when." Business, this sounded just like it and she was all in for it. Quite on her road to independence... Well, that was the intention until a certain big-headed brother of hers decided to FOLLOW her ALL the way to school. Yes, she was completely convinced he was here to check up on her and...stuff.
Luckily, and with that little grunt of his, Cutty complied and blocked her somewhat from Curly-top. Pleased Beverly was pleased, and it most definitely showed in her eyes. "Thanks, Mordaunt. I hope that wasn't much trouble for you." Her tone was a bit teasing, the attempt to regain her cool.

Hair flips. Beverly found those unnecessary sometimes. In her case, it created a mess due to her waist length hair and...well, actually...it wasn't bad at certain times. Yeah. Whatever, she was here interacting with people.
Hapgood. What an interesting name, reminded her of hopping. "Pleasure meeting you, too." Not really, she felt quite indifferent, but making acquaintances and all. "What year are you in?" Agatha didn't look as tiny as the firsties. Must be a transfer.

He didn't mind owing her? That was...a surprise, actually. Beverly had not expected him to accept quiet so easily. Another person she was holding to keep their word to her. Yes.
"Great--" Oh. ANYTHING but homework. Hehe. Well, now... "Don't worry, I prefer doing my own homework." No one touches her work. Ever. She was glad they came to an understanding, though. It made things easier and not awkward.

Kannalynne continued on to the Ravenclaw table without so much as a glance backwards.
Gareth narrowed his eyes a tiny bit as he stared at the girl next to him. Meh. He would just keep staring at the girl directly not really caring if she would find it rude or not but then...he was distracted when he felt movement VERY close to him.
What?
No one was trying to kill him, right? Because he surely would not like that and later would do his best to make the attacker suffer for the rest of their life. It didn't take much time until he realised it had been no attempt of killing him though. Someone had just put a box next to him and...left...apparently. Gareth picked the box and eyed it momentarily before quickly looking back. His eyes caught the back of a Ravenclaw with bright red hair, a very familiar colour to him, walking away.
Turning back to the box, he opened it and...yeah sugar quills, picked one of the sweets. He was puzzled now.

And the girl had been talking to him. Eh...he really had not been aware of it for he had been kind of ignoring the whole table since they didn't look like his existence made any difference for them. Gareth simply stared at the girl refusing to react to her sarcastic comment.
He kept just staring at the girl in his silence as he raised the sugar quill he had picked from the mysterious box that had been left for him, and bit the tip of the sugar feather. He kept staring while he consumed the sweet thing and swallowed. Then a tiny half smirk appeared at the corner of his lips. "Then i don't know what you are talking about."

"It's nice to meet you, Marisol." He said helping himself to the pre-dinner pumpkin juice. "That's a pretty name. What's it mean?"
"I looooove Hogwarts." But he wasn't being entirely honest, because so far he'd had to pay for everything including Quiddith matches (even if his house team was playing), food and access to the library and he had also experienced rapid aging last year and was a very old man by the end of it.
Actually, Cutty didn't mind that last one so much. He had plans to be released onto the Wizarding World during the summer as a dusty and mature warlock with the right to be cantankerous as hell to anyone who dared pose a bother to him, but then at the very last minute, he'd been cured of the aging disease and was once again his youthful self. So you see, even when school was good it was bad. And either he was lying for funsies or politeness or he just wasn't thinking about what all had really, REALLY happened to him. Maybe he was traumatized. "You'll love it too, Marisol. And if you ever need anything you can always call me."

OOOOH look, it was that Ravenclaw girl that Cutty had been bugging Caleb about earlier. Calling her his girlfriend and what not. Why was everyone so obsessed with him and his potential relationships? That was twice in two weeks that he'd been asked if he was dating someone. He had more important things to worry about! Like taking care of his new owl Scooter, or finding his sister who had inexplicably disappeared from the face of the Earth on the train...
"Hey Hope! Good summer?" he asked with a smile.
Cutty smiled enthusiastically at Caleb's reaction. It was just the sort of thing he was hoping for. And it was all just as well. Caleb caught him with his mother. His overly cosemeticked, tight pants wearing mother! With her ginormous earrings and all the accoutrements of witchhood that Cutty hated. Couldn't she just look like a normal mother. There were times that he wondered how he and his mother were in the same house when she didn't know the meaning of stealth at all and seemed determined to live poorly in some dead-end job.
Why couldn't she be more like Caleb's mother? Who Cutty had read was the other half of Gothsaint. Now there was a real business witch!

She would hold out her hand for him to shake, but he was sitting cross the table from her and it wouldn't be very practical, so she decided against it.
"Nice to meet you, Agatha Hapgood." Hapgood. Hapgood. Hapgood. Had he read that name before anywhere? Astronomy? Potions? He'd have to check his note book. For now, it noted the girl in front of him as carrying herself well. A strong back, maybe, but also had a look about her that suggested she had self-esteem.
He mentally crossed her off as a possible girlfriend.
Great Merlin. Just look at that reaction. Kinsley's venom was potent. One drop could stop a girl mid-thought and wreak havoc on her nervous system.
Cutty had to bottle that.
As Cutty was thinking of ways to make that idea possible, he shamelessly eavesdropped on the conversation between Grayson (who Cutty was thinking of calling Whitty if he liked and Graysie if he didn't) and Hapgood. Oh, they hadn't read the Daily Prophet. Well, he could fill them in on gruesome details after Headmissy Truebs broke it down.
That was probably the reason Tripod was looking like he'd been infected by a glumbumble.

Blink, blink.
Why was he staring at her? It didn't unnerve her per se, it made her wonder WHY he would stare. Had he taken her comment to heart? If he had then he needed to toughen up a bit, not like she said he smelled like dragon dung. There was a pause in his stare when a girl RUDELY came out of nowhere and left him a box, apparently filled with Sugar Quills.
Beverly raised an eyebrow when his gaze fell upon her again, the corner of her mouth raising the tiniest bit into a ghost of a smirk. "You should have checked if it was poisoned first." That's number one rule to when a stranger just flops anything edible in front of you. Blinking once at him, very slowly, she added, "You were laughing. At what?" Come on, spill.

Good, they had a deal and hopefully she'd get her hands on some sweets soon. For this one time, Beverly would let it slide that he called her Bev. It was BEVERLY. Not B, not Bev, not BEVY. BUT...he had done her a great favor, so she would't drill him over it. She simply nodded and shot him a short, tight lipped grin.

This boy was friendly. So far, everyone was. But Marisol knew it was too good to be true. There had to be at least one shrew in the school. The first year was old enough to know that.
"Eh, Marisol is short for María del Sol," Mari explained. "Is Mary of the Sun." But it was just Marisol. None of that María stuff!
It was a good thing that Cutty loved Hogwarts, but she could tell he wasn't being so honest. Maybe a little exaggerated. After all, her father had told his daughters about the disaster last term. That ought to have been...off-putting.
"Very good", Marisol agreed anyway. She listened, sort of understood bits and pieces, and said, "Yes."

So... that was the speech. Now everyone knew.
What he wanted to do was leave the Great Hall. He wasn't hungry and kind of wanted a bit of time on his own. If it was just about Quidditch maybe it wouldn't be so bad, but it was Quidditch on top of everything else that was getting him.
He eyed the food as it appeared and half-heartedly reached for a bread roll, just to keep up appearances.

Ah, a smile. It was not a very super awesome one, but well, there was one. She lifted the package from the bench beside her and placed it between West's arms. "Cannoli. I think you should eat about five of them on your own. She smiled back, assuming that she was helpful cause... well.. she had FOOD. Moretti food. Cat food. What was more helpful than that? "Peru was cool. There was a mudslide but I think it made my hair softer." She touched it thoughtfully in consideration. "You should try a mud-hair-mask too and see if it's legit. I could be on to something here." GRINNING! "Lots of fun though and pretty too. Even if my mama was none too pleased about me being gone so long."
Oh. Look. Speeching.
No Quidditch.
So. Glum West did have another reason for being glum.
She wrinkled her nose. "Who would bother wasting their time targeting kids? That's so lame. So lame." Without another word, Caterina reached over and filled up West's plate. Food good, Odessa. Yuuuuum. Food.
Lots of older kids. In fact, Marisol didn't actually see anyone about her age. Except for this one girl who could be a first year (well, she was short, anyway), but wasn't a Slytherin. Okay, Mari was visibly failing to understand both these British peeps and what was going on. Same as always.
She'd still say hello. It was kind of routine. "Hello!" Marisol greeted the girl excitedly with her thick Spanish accent. "I'm Marisol. And you?"
Hope looked up from Caleb and Cutty to offer a smile to a girl who spoke to her. First year, yes? She had seen her get sorted before she moved from the Ravenclaw table. "Hello Marisol. I'm Hope. Hope Evans." She wasn't perfect at this conversation thing just yet. "Where are you from?"

What to do? Oh, there were only too many options. Tell an authority figure that this newbie Gryffindor came and stole the chocolate...no, better...tell Cambridge that the girl had stolen HER chocolate. Or he could even go another way and let everyone misinterpret the phrase, 'You were amazing on the train' and spread a harmful rumour at her expense. Try to make friends after THAT, girlie-pie!
His icy gaze peered at and through the girl as if she were as paper. Thin, dispensable, and worth only what he was willing to put upon it. She was worth more to him alive and well, however. And an impoverished mimicry of a human child though he was, Cutty showed restraint by calmly accio'ing the pyramid box back.
"Of course you are. Maybe some other time, Angel." Lucky, lucky Angel, to whom he might have sounded a bit offended at having been doubted and taken for the prankster type. Which he was, but only with the proper catalyst known as Benzi Rider.
His attention turned from her and he saw the two new faces, one of which, the boy (Grayson) seemed to be perhaps analytical, and the other, the girl (Agatha) seemed to be judging...but not him. The faintest smile came about Cutty Mordaunt's face as he neared the completion of his puppeteering act upon the wee lioness. "Welcome to Slytherin." Seemed appropriate, being as how they likely saw much of that transaction. "M'name's Mordaunt. Cutty Mordaunt."
SPOILER!!: Hope & Marisol
Oh, Merlin.
SPOILER!!: Beverly & Addi
The new accessories not lost on Cutty, he eyed them for one second and then for the remainder of the time tried to look as if their mere presence didn't do something to his blood. Funny how he didn't have to fake his own serenity as he spoke these words in response to Beverly. "You can rely on it. I've even added some imported things to the inventory." Sweets he'd picked up from Egypt and Canada.
Listen! It speaks! Although she wasn't really too comfortable with the way he said her name, as if she was beneath him in some way. Not true. Hope rolled her eyes and plopped herself down on the bench next to Cutty without an invitation to join and gave him a twisted kind of small. "So GREAT to see you again." She crossed her legs at the ankle and batted her lashes. "My life felt so incomplete without your charming personality." Could he hear the sarcasm that was just dripping like melted chocolate off her tongue. If he didn't, then all of this grand fun would be lost on him.
She leaned back against the table and stared up at the ceiling. "One could say that I missed you after our one encounter. However, the more I think about it the more I realize.... I missed you almost as much as I enjoy the sound on nails on a chalkboard." She grinned and just shrugged turning her attention to the boy Cutty was sitting on. "Don't worry though, you eventually learn to tune that sound out after a while." What did that mean for him then. Would Hope tune him out or would he push her buttons and set her over edge?

"Hi. I'm Caleb, are you a third year?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
Huh.
A second later, Caleb was distracted as Cutty RUDELY squeezed him bum RIGHT into Caleb's seat with him. He shot him a glare and nudged him, trying to get him into his own seat. "Oi! "My summer was wonderful. I spent two weeks in Paris with my mum and dad. Très magnifique.” Yes, Hope Evans did in fact speak French. She was fluent in it really, she didn't like to show off though. “You’re summer good?” Yes, do tell her all the fantastic details, if only to hopefully annoy the boy she was still leaning over.

Genevieve left West after giving his shoulder another squeeze, and then she headed back toward the Head table. She'd make it there eventually, and if she spent the first half of the feast meandering through the room, she was still protecting people.
Students, though, and not professors. No one had suggested to her that the professors needed any protecting, so why was Josh hanging out at the Head Table? WHY DID HE GET TO SIT DOWN?
Genevieve paused behind Cat and gently caught the girl's long hair up with one hand. "Be careful, Moretti. I'm serious, and it isn't a threat from me. Don't be out after curfew, and don't encourage certain Ravenclaws to be, either. It isn't safe."
Before the feast began, Lux decided that it would be a good idea to head over to the Slytherin table and say hello to Ana again. Even though they had spent time on the train together, they hadn't seen each other much at the end of last term or for a lot of the summer holidays. This was a way for Lux to make up for lost Ana time!
Spotting an empty spot beside her friend, she plopped herself down then poured herself some pumpkin juice. "Long time no see," she joked with a smile before taking a sip.
"It's been absolutely ages, my heart aches from missing you," Ana pronounced, dramatically pressing her hands to her chest and feigning melancholy when Lux sat down next to her. Of course while she had missed Lux over the Summer having sat with her on the train meant that they had gotten to catch up a bit.
When Terry walked past and squeezed her shoulder she tilted her head to smile brightly at him before turning back to Lux. She'd get boyfriend time later, it would be good for him to see his own friends.
"Now tell me. Besides your party and spending time with Bay what else did you get up to over break?" Ana was a nosy person sometimes, so sue her.

Mary of the Sun. Yes, actually, he really did like Marisol's name. He has spent the better part of his early life learning languages for the benefit of his family like French and Arabic and he found it interesting how much meaning was behind the different names and words. Sometimes it changed your perspective on a word entirely. Sometimes you felt like you should've known what the meaning would be. The latter was the case for him. Afterall, it wasn't such a far leap from Sol to Soleil.
Cutty decided that he wouldn't mind learning Spanish. He could seduce people with it, he thought.

"Don't worry though, you eventually learn to tune that sound out after a while." What did that mean for him then. Would Hope tune him out or would he push her buttons and set her over edge?
Hope leaned up against Cutty as if trying to hear Caleb better, even though she could understand him just fine, a smile stretching ear to ear at wondering just how much discomfort this had to be bringing the boy.
Typical. How like a lunatic Ravenclaw female to need a boy for support, which Cutty gave steadily before YOINKING it away with the intention of using the gravity already in place with her leaning to cause her to fall. She could've caught herself, but she would've had to have been pretty damn fast and not only know it would be coming, but know when. Oh, Miss Thang.
But she was obviously smitten and so her behaviour did not strike him as odd in the least. In fact, rather expected. A little distasteful perhaps, but she really couldn't be blamed. It was almost sort of cute the way she tried to play like he was inconsequential. Almost.
Vinnie sat down at the Slytherin table. She was hungry, really hungry. Even though she had just eaten cauldron cake with Casper. The girl was sure West had infected her with his always hungry disease. Definitely.
Looking around the brunette couldnt find anyone she had met recently. Sigh.
But this was gonna be a good term. Better than the last one for sure. She had already made an effort and she would keep going. There were potential friends in sight. Vinnie would rock this year and have fun and finally accept her future was here. At Hogwarts. She was a Hogwartian now.
She smiled to herself and put some of the delicious looking food on her plate. To a new start.
In fact, she was sat here, wondering if he was going to walk through that door... and wondering if she - whoever she was - was sat in this room. And it was driving her crazy.
She eyed the food on the table for a moment... but none of it was making her want to eat, so she stood up and tried to leave as inconspicuously as possible. Y'know... maybe she just needed the bathroom, people. Nothing to see here.
Agatha gave Beverly a quick smile, but her face was back to being serious just a moment after that. "I'm a third year. I've studied somewhere else before." She added as she was about to fix the cuttlery in front of her, but it did not need fixing. Huh. It also didn't matter where she had studied, anyway. She couldn't be bothered to talk about that silly place. She was at HOGWARTS now and that was all that mattered. "How about you?"
"Nice to me you too, Cutty Mordaunt." Truth be told, the girl didn't mind going by full names. She did think her names were all very pretty anyway. ....What was that expression on his face, though? He looked like he was thinking hard. Agatha stared at him and was a bit disappointed when he didn't say anything after that. Just stirring up her curiosity then, was he? Not very nice. Hmph. "I'm a third year." She decided to point out. Once she said that, she was glad to notice that the Gryffindor girl who was speaking to Cutty just now looked much younger than her and she was relieved. "What year are you in?" He didn't look much older than her, to be honest, but he didn't sound annoying like all the other boys her age. Maybe he was older but only looked like a little kid. That would be weird.
Agatha turned to look at the Headmistress as she made her speech. She searched for her uncle a the staff table as the woman carried on, but he wasn't looking in her direction. Which was okay, because if he were Agatha wouldn't do much, because she'd respect the redhead speaking. By the way, the Headmistress had really pretty hair. Agatha was almost hypnotised by it. Wow. That redhair was amazingly beautiful. Wooooooow...

"Yeah. It was decent. And yours?" Did she go on that trip too? Everyone he talked to sounded like they had.
"Mine was good," Not great! But she supposed it could have been worse, so she was glad it went the way it did. "I was on the Peru trip," Which pretty much summed up her summer. Everything else that happened was regular whether it was hanging out in Diagon Alley or the like. Maybe it would have been more eventful if she'd interned somewhere but she didn't regret her choice. She liked the free time she had although it was sometimes boring but still better than having to wake up early and run errands or such things.

"Cannoli?"
Cassia winked at Cat, she did mean what she said. Maybe because she thought that her friend wouldn't be doing destructive and dangerous things anytime soon that needed to be covered up. Meaning no harm would be done, and it was the least thing the blond could do for her dormmates. What kind of friend would she be if she didn't turn a blind eye on her friends' doings.
Ooh, a Cat!Hug! The Slytherin loved hugs especially. Cat's words and now the hug made her all fuzzy on the inside and she miiiiight have squeezed the fellow snakette a little bit. Not too tight, though. Mo wouldn't be pleased probably if his girlfriend got squished.
"That sounds nice. Newborns are cute," From afar maybe. Or she wouldn't really know since she didn't have a first-hand experience with one. She thought she might when Ariana had her baby girl. "Peru! Where we survived trolls!" She grinned remembering that day. It felt like ages ago and she missed waking up in the tent even though she never thought she would.
Cannoli! Her stomach had started making a bit of sounds, did Cat hear them? "Thanks!" Cassia took a bite and nodded approvingly at the never-disappointing taste. Now to answer the question. "Peru was actually the most interesting thing about my summer," she answered. "Other than that I just hung out in Diagon Alley." Where she got to see lots of her friends.

And why was it nearly impossible for him to read thanks to the candles? Whatever it meant, he hoped that this one was a nicer version of the Jewellery Boy over there.
Hungry? "Yeah!" he said, probably a little too enthusiastically but he didn't care, "I've only had a sub and some sweets on the train. When are we allowed to eat?" Would the girl be able to pull off some sort of magic trick? Or would she know the answer to his question? HMMMMM?
And, because he was curious and wanted to know, "What does that badge mean?" This was also a good way to see whether the Theodore boy would actually tell him the truth.
So he was hungry! Cassia got that right. Lucky guess. And it was fortunate that he didn't find it a silly question. Boy understood the importance of being hungry and asking about it. Two points to new snake. "Me, too," She told him. "But it shouldn't be long before we eat," She said glancing over at the staff's table where the headmistress seemed to be sliding out of her seat. No rush! Not like hundreds of kids were about to starve to death.
And it seemed that he was curious about the badge. HER new badge! Cassia tried not to grin or look too pleased with herself. "Means I'm Head Girl,It's lots of responsibility," She answered casually. But that wasn't a very helpful answer since she only read to him what was written on the badge. "Here's a tip, if you ever do something against the rules you better not let me see it," she winked at him. See, snakes got special treatment.
"I'm Cassia, by the way, what's your name? " Might as well start memorizing the new snakes' names.
SPOILER!!: SPEECH OVER HERE

Some of you," she LOOKED at CERTAIN TABLES, "may have heard that we are not having Quidditch this year. Now, before you start an uproar," she held up one hand, "it's for a reason. We had a deliberate threat made against the school's athletes and had to shut it down as a result - at least until we can investigate the source of the threat." Besides that, Tyner had gone on sabbatical, and no quidditch official in his or her right mind was going to try to take on her job.
She flipped her hair over her shoulder and cast a look back toward the staff table. "You'll notice some new faces at the table, not just of new professors, but also of new security that will be present around the school. Again, these measures are for your protection. You cannot learn, you cannot play, you cannot live if your security is at stake. So bear with us as we try to get through this threat."
There. That being said... "Congratulations to our new Sortees, our new staffers, Ms. Morgan and Ms. Glendower, our new Head Boy and Girl, and our new Ravenclaw Head of House." That about covered everyone, so Bunz brought her hands together in a light clap. "Now that the notices are given out, take care and enjoy the feast." With those closing words, the elf-made delicious meal appeared on all the tables, and Bunz happily (though she wasn't actually happy) returned to her seat.
Dinnertime!

She added, fixing her beautiful hair as she pulled it to one side. Oh? Quidditch news? "Did anyone die?"That would explain why everyone looked so depressed. "I'm a third year." She said proudly, nose up in the air. "I suppose you're a seventh year, right? Head Girl?"
This girl here had one good mind in her head. Cassia made note of that. "Nope, not this time," She answered her question then immediately regretted it. She had to stop telling new comers about deaths that happened in the school. "Oh, look headmistress is gonna give the speech," she pointed at the staff table not giving the chance hopefully for a question to be asked about her poorly given answer.
Once the red-headed was done, Cassia turned back to Agatha. "It's that it got cancelled that has people sad," In case it wasn't clear. "Do you like Quidditch?" Was she saddened by the news. A third year, the blond's mind automatically placed Agatha in Cutty's year group. "Mhhm. Last year for me," It sounded really weird and not so fun saying it.

A couple of seats away from her, Cassia noticed a familiar face when she was checking for more new snakes. The seventh-year didn't know the girl very well but she knew her well by sight from last year. She never got the chance to talk much with her and it was a bit weird since they were both in the same house and Cassia pretty much had conversations with anyone and everyone. "Hi, Vinnie, right?" she smiled at the girl hoping she got her name right.
