Send an Owl Post Come send a note or letter using your own owl or any of the school owls. Owls line the walls in nooks and on branches. Pellets, old animal skeletons, and belladonna berries are on the floor. There are a few pieces of parchment, a ragged quill, and a dried-up bottle of ink on an old wooden desk in the corner should you need to add a postscript to your letter. |
For Casey, the loveliest person ever. Huh. Owls. Olly looked a bit lost as she turned on the spot for a moment. Right. There was a reason she'd come here. And it was probably writing a letter. Or posting a letter. Nope, after a quick glance at her hands which did NOT in fact hold a letter, she decided that she was here to WRITE a letter after all. Good. Somehow she'd zoned out on the way up here it seemed. But at least it seemed the owlery was more or less empty. 'More or less' because owls. She reached for one of the spare parchments and pulled out her own quill. Noooooooow. Instead of thinking about who she'd wanted to send a letter to, Olly just stared out onto the grounds through one of the small windows. |
For Lisa, the most sublime and awesome person ever Quote:
"It's okay girl, come down here. I'm sorry for hitting you, okay?" she hissed, trying to be quiet so that the OTHER owls didn't all explode. |
All the love. <3 There was someone else there now. Ugh. But at least the person tried to be quiet. Naturally, Olly didn't turn around to see who it was. Frankly, she didn't exactly care. As long as they didn't bother her with annoying chit-chat or the like, she was simply going to ignore the presence of the other person. Besides, she was quite busy. Staring out the window. Holding a piece of parchment. And a quill. She was VERY busy, see? The thing she'd thought earlier? About the person being quiet? Yeah, that wasn't happening anymore. Olly frowned and turned around to see what was making the noise. Well, an owl obviously but you know. She raised her eyebrows at the girl and gave her an unimpressed look. What are you doing? |
All the love plus one Quote:

Letter home The Owlery was like a WHOLE PLACE FOR OWLS! Who would have known there would be an entire Common Room for the winged thingys. Ezra always had enjoyed owls growing up and would try to play with the ones that delivered the Prophet every morning to his house or his parents' mail. He had been disappointed at first when his mom and dad hadn't bought him an owl of his own for his birthday or for a gift before going to Hogwarts but now he was over that. It was like he had HUNDREDS now! "Hellooooo owls." he called as she entered the poo and broken little dead things covered room. They really needed to clean this place out once in a while but it was okay because he wasn't going to stay long. He finally found a fat, brown owl and got it to come down from it's perch He pulled out a small scroll and attached it to it's leg with string before patting it on the head and letting it fly from the tower. SPOILER!!: Letter |

Olly nodded slowly. Good. "Your owl should apologize." There, wasn't she being nice today? Yes she was. Someone should give her food. Or some other form of reward. Maybe she'd go see Schuyler after this. Yes. Good idea. Now, there was parchment in her hand though. Which meant she should probably write a letter. Only she still couldn't remember who to. Hmm. |
For Sophie :3! Kace decided it was time to visit the owlery. He needed to visit Charlene. He knew she didn't like her too much and she was Belle's owl, but she was growing close to her. He walked up to her and petted her. "Heyyy girll.." he cooed over her. "I have a letter for you if you want to send it?" he offered her. Her wide eyes turned and she stood in alert. She was ready to send the letter. He look at his letter to make sure he didn't have any mistakes. SPOILER!!: The Letter He grinned and thought the letter was perfect. He tied the letter to Charlene's leg as she held her leg out. Then he went over to the window and watched her fly away peacefully. |
Text Cut: Kace Sophie didn't bring her owl to school anymore since she hardly ever sent letters to her folks anyway. Why bring one when she could just a school owl? Once at the beginning of the term and once on her birthday were the only two times before the holidays she routinely let her family know what was going on, and today she was fulfilling her daughterly duty to let her mum know how the first week of school was. And she needed to let her mother know about the tragedy that was the absence of Quidditch this term. When she entered the owlery, she was surprised to see someone already there - how often did kids visit the owlery anyway? She was even more surprised to recognize him as a Hufflepuff in Toby's year. Someone she'd never talked to before, but... Toby's dormmate. She was smirking already. "Hi," Sophie started, rounding on the boy and slipping her folded-up letter to her parents into her pocket. "You're..." Name-searching, name-searching... "Kace, right? You're in Toby's year?" Was she wrong? |

"Me?" He didn't know? "Oh. Why would you need courage for that?" There was a teasing sort of grin on her face now, but she pressed on, "I'm Sophie... Sophie Brown?" She looked at him expectantly, then - Toby's best friend in the whole world? Wouldn't Toby's dormmate have heard of her? ...But what if Toby never talked about her? A look of horror crossed her face for the briefest of moments before she plastered back on her smile. Totally casual. It wouldn't be a big deal if Toby never went back to his common room and told the kid he shared a dorm with of their adventures. It wouldn't matter to her at all. Her lip may have wibbled a little. |

And then more making her feel guilty. Marigold nodded and widened her eyes. "I am so sorry. H, tell sorry to... her." Marigold's faced burned a little. She didn't even know that girl's name, oh dear. And here she was interrupting her quiet time and all. She curved her envelope anxiously in her hands. |

Olly's eyes flicked over to the owl in question and raised her eyebrows at it. No, of course she didn't expect an apology from the animal. She wasn't stupid. So it was even more amusing to find the girl ordering her owl to apologize. Like...how? What? She looked back to the younger girl with an amused smirk on her lips. "Yeah. I'm waiting." Owl. |
Quote:
"What brings you up to owlery of all days?" he said gesturing toward the nice weather outside. |
Quote:
"H doesn't seem to be sorry, but I am. Is that enough?" She might've cocked a hip during that. The girl was laughing at her, and so she felt lame. Being sassy restored her coolness, Moo taught her that. And Ruby too, actually. |

Awww, a shy Hufflepuff. That was cute. And sort of typical, but she liked those timid ones. It was always loads of fun to try to get them out of their shells. "No reason to be shy 'bout it," she urged, shaking his hand with vigor. "Unless you already have all the friends you need, then by all means, no reason to put yourself out there." Faulty logic, she knew, but she didn't want to pressure the kid into being a social butterfly if he didn't want to be. "S'nice to meet you, too, Kace." She was sort of bummed he didn't go, Oh, you're Toby's best friend!, though. Scandalous. At his question, she gave a small shrug. "Better to make the trek out here on a beautiful day than one where it's pouring rain, in my opinion. Just gotta send a letter home." She patted her pocket, then searched his hands for a sign of a letter. "You?" |
SPOILER!!: The Spectacular Sophie :3 He gave her a cheeky grin back and Sophie made a good point. He couldn't agree more. "I like the way you think Sophie. I am guessing your in Ravenclaw aren't you?" he chuckled and he could see it on her robes but he just wanted to put it out there. "Well nice to meet you m'ladyy..." he said bowing down before her playfully. He wanted to show is funny side. He was hoping it was working. He nodded in agreement and she was here to send a letter too? Well obviously it was the Owlery, it was a stupid question to begin with. "Erm i actually just sent a letter with my owl Charlene. My mom made me promise to keep more in touch this year. I am really bad with writing letters to tell you the truth.." he said looking at the window. "Do you have your own pet owl?" he asked her. Plus he was always curious about this..."And how long have you and Toby been friends?" |
Text Cut: The Kindhearted Kace :3 With Hufflepuff being the house she could see herself in least, Sophie was constantly surprised at how charming and easy to get along with many Hufflepuffs were. Some were too nice for their own good, but so far, this Kace fellow was a great candidate for a real friend. He had a sense of humor, at least, and seemed keen on joking around. That was enough for Soph. "You know it. Chose it, though - I was almost a hatstall. I'm really a Ravenclaw-Gryffindor hybrid with a dash of Slytherin." She was smirky, anticipating his reaction to her indirectly declaring herself as no-parts Hufflepuff. "Glad I scream Ravenclaw enough to feel reassured that I made the right choice. 'less you were basing that comment entirely off of my robes, in which case, I'll still pretend like there's just something about me that gives off a Ravenclaw vibe." She was laughing, then, and continued as he bowed. Funny guy. Aw. Mothers. "Gotcha. I've got one for my mum, too. I don't keep in touch all that often - she knows I'm too fast-paced and living in the moment to remember to keep her updated too often. Just letting her know we made it safe to school and stuff." And about Quidditch, but she didn't need to bring that up to Kace. Touchy subject. "Naw. I have my own, but I'd rather leave him at home, since I hardly make use of him." She took a moment to choose a school owl and attached the letter to its leg, feeding it a small handful of food in gratitude before sending it off. Kace had brought up Tobes. Heheheheheheheheehe. She straightened up a bit, giddy as could be that the boy was the topic of conversation now and chimed, "A year. Feels like longer, but it's kind of a funny story, actually - y'remember the first potions lesson last term? When we brewed that warm potion that tickled a whole lot when someone breathed it on you? I needed to try it on someone for my homework and there he was in the courtyard, looking as unsuspecting as could be. He was cute, y'know - couldn't resist - so I ended up sneaking up on him - he's crazy ticklish, I learned - and it ended up sealing our friendship." She had started walking around the owlery as she talked, the smile never leaving her face as she examined all the different sorts of owls. "Oh, and don't worry, it was fair - he had his potion on him, too, and ended up getting me back. Kinda hard to not walk away from tickling the snot out of each other as anything less than friends, but we became besties. Sort of right then and there." It was weird to reflect on how easy their friendship came about, since most friendships were kind of a gradual thing over time. But Sophie and Toby? It couldn't have been easier. She snapped out of her distant thoughts to that day and turned on Kace, still grinning, "Are you two close, sharing a dorm and all?" |
SPOILER!!: The Sophisticated Sophie <3 :3 Kace chuckled. She was a hat-stall huh? Kace remember when he was doing his sorting. Seemed like it wasn't too long ago. He was a mixture between Hufflepuff or Gryffindor. "I was between Hufflepuff or Gryffindor but the hat saw the more hufflepuff in and i chose it." he smiled. He glad he did because he met so many new people. "But i wasn't going off your robes or anything.." he said with a little sarcasm there. "I was going off your intellect.." he said kindly. Trying to be smart around the claw eh? He had to try. He was glad he wasn't the only one. "Well at least i am not the only one who is bad at keeping in touch with their mothers. I mean sometimes mom's can be too demanding." It was true for him but he liked his mom sending packages to him now and again. "Well hopefully you can get your own. I recommend one, but i am sharing my sister's who use to go here. Charlene is warming up to me, but you know it would be nice to have my own.." he shrugged. "I would like a male owl at least.." he said. Now onto the conversation with Toby. He smiled when he saw how giggly she was. He had a hunch she liked him, but he wanted to hear her story. Aww the story was cute. He chuckled and said, "I do remember that potion, i can't remember who my partner was but it sounded like it was fate for you guys to be friends." he chuckled some more. "Well i am glad he got you back , i know if my friends did that to me, i would like some revenge.." he winked. "But if my girlfriend Emmy did that, that would be a different story.." he chuckled. He would probably tickle her to death. But he had to ask, "Do you have feelings for Toby?" he asked with a raised eyebrow. "I won't tell if you do.." he reassured her. "OH i haven't seen Toby in a while, I think he is the most social butterfly i have ever met. Yeah we do share a dorm and that is the only time i see him. We aren't that close but we knew each other on the Quidditch Team first term..." he said. With the mention of Quidditch, his heart squeezed a little bit and he looked towards the window. |
Text Cut: WHY IS HE SO CUTE Having been wandering the room, Sophie finally flicked her wand from its holster to scourgify the little wooden desk near the corner and remove the traces of owl droppings before she sat on it, her legs swinging freely as Kace spoke. "Nice choice for you. You make a good Hufflepuff." She smiled, genuine in her words and meaning it entirely as a compliment. No teasing this time. Going off her intellect, huh? Smug, Sophie just shook her head at him. "You're quite the smooth-talker, aren't you?" He definitely wasn't wrong, though. "Owls aren't that expensive. You should totally get one of your own, if it means so much to you." Personally, she didn't see the big deal about owls, and didn't quite care that much for her own. It was convenient to have one, sure, but kind of a hassle sometimes, too. Sophie let out an indignant huff at Kace's use of the word revenge. "Pfft, I totally let him get me back, 'cause he was all pathetic and doe-eyed and pleading on the ground." Not entirely true. But. What Tobes didn't know wouldn't hurt him. Oh, Kace had a girlfriend! That was cute. "Why would it be a different story?" Just curious. Would he not get his girlfriend back? Ha. Hahahah. Haha. "Noooooo, no, no. Tobes is my friendship soulmate, I think - we're just besties." Innocent shrug. "I mean, I like him a lot. As a person and stuff. He knows that. And... he's a good hugger and his hands are soft and he smells nice and he has really cool eyes and I like spending time with him and all, but we're not like a couple or anything." Her nose scrunched up at the very thought. "We're just kids." No offense to Kace and his being one-half of a couple. It was just... weird to think about, being in a relationship with him. The label was scary. Though Kace said he wasn't going to tell Toby any of it, Sophie wouldn't really mind if he did. None of it was news to him, she figured. Oh. They weren't even all that close of friends? That was weird. Sophie hadn't had any Ravenclaw girls in her year until this term, and she had always assumed that yearmates were usually the best of friends. Though, since Toby was usually out and about having his own fun... she could see where maybe that didn't hold true for the Hufflepuff fourth years. "M'sorry. I wish you guys were closer. You both are really cool." And she could see them being really good friends. But, if three full terms had passed and they weren't already close friends... she figured it probably wasn't going to happen. Shame, really. |
SPOILER!!: Because Me + Kace = Cuteness Overload! Kace smiled and was appreciating the comment Sophie was giving him. "Why thank you. I know i am a hufflepuff in my blood, there is no denying it." When she commented on his smooth talking, he smiled even more. "Oh i do try ya know? I mean i am pretty good at talking with the ladies." he winked and then cleaned off the other desk with his wand and sat down. He swung his legs freely. It was true owls weren't that expensive but I mean he didn't really have the money right now. "Oh i wish i could, but my mom is getting tight on the funds right now, so maybe for my birthday i will get one." he shrugged. "It is in December so it is not too far away." He was excited for it that is for sure. "Oh i would have been like stealthy. I mean it would be a different story for me because i like to sneak attack for revenge. I remember during the summer, Emmy got me good and scared me and i slipped into a huge mud pile and my mom got mad at me for my dirty clothes. But a few weeks later when my family get together happened and our annual huge water gun fight was in action, i attacked her with my water guns. My cousin helped and revenge was sweet..." he said remembering the event and grinning widely. "But obviously, we are both competitive so it suits us." he winked. He nodded when Sophie explained Toby and her's relationship. It made sense. Sometimes relationships with people weren't meant to be. Some people were meant to be best friends and he was okay with it. "I get what your saying and that is an awesome relationship to have. I wish i had a friendship like that." he said getting a little jealous. But he will have it one day. When she apologized for them not being closer, he waved it off. "Aww it is fine. It happens though. Toby and I are on our separate paths but i am glad i ran into one of his best soulmate friends." he commented on that. Using the term Sophie said. "But of course i may see you visit our common room. We should all hang out together i think that would be awesome." he said trying to make a plan to get them all together. |
Quote:
But the girl was sorry. Not that Olly cared, really. "You're in my house, yeah?" She vaguely remembered seeing her around the common room and stuff. |
Text Cut: Kace Sophie was laughing at him again in a good-natured way. Yes, he was quite the Hufflepuff, wasn't he? But then she laughed even more at his suave nature and boasting of his ways with the ladies. "You keep telling yourself that, bud." Surely that was how he landed his current girlfriend, and... probably why he was in a relationship as a fourth year. The kid was just all sorts of charming, wasn't he? Sophie, a spoiled child who was reckless with money, looked a bit sad at Kace. She wished she could buy him an owl on her own and maybe it wouldn't be weird... but it totally would. Plus, the kid would probably want to pick out his own, specific owl with a certain personality, wouldn't he? So maybe she shouldn't be impulsive and try to get one for him as a gift. Maybe she could anonymously owl him some money or something. His story about him and his girlfriend was cute, and Sophie busied herself during his story by picking at a sliver on the wooden desk below her. "That does seem like fitting revenge. Lotta fun, I bet." She'd never been in a water war like that, but it sounded awesome. Sophie Brown's relationship with Tobias Tempus was totally awesome, and she knew it. She grinned at Kace's assessment of it, not at all appearing surprised to hear his words. "Thanks. Yeah, we're pretty cool together." A dynamic duo, even. "I'm sure he'd like that, too - both of us getting to know you better. I'm game." New friends were always welcome, especially people who could prank Toby while he slept on her behalf. Hehehehe. |
Quote:
"I mean we can invite Toby to our water fight, i think he likes competition like I do." he shrugged suggesting the idea. But he didn't know how Sophie felt about the idea of getting her clothes wet. |
Quote:
Granted, it didn't hurt, but it was still a weird gesture from someone she had just met, and Sophie half-heartedly laughed with him. Ha, ha. Don't punch me again or I'll take you down. She smiled sweetly at him, though. Maybe it was just a nervous gesture. Maybe he couldn't control himself. She'd give him the benefit of the doubt. But then when he went on to tease her that she was being charmed by him, Sophie held up one single finger at him. "Oohhhh no. No, no. The only person that can charm me is Professor Fuller, 'cause he's the charms teacher and that's his job to be charming." Sort of. "Or Tobes." If throwing out the name of someone their age would help her case. It wasn't that she suddenly didn't like Kace, but he was... a strange Hufflepuff. Maybe a bit over-confident? Or maybe he really was just a nervous sort of rambler who said weird things when his anxiety levels were too high. He seemed pretty calm and level-headed, though, but... still. She so desperately wanted to make friends with Toby's roommate that she didn't scold the kid for being too forward with her. Sophie continued to play it cool and act like nothing was wrong, smiling broadly, "Naw, I can't today. Got plans with the - well, what was the Ravenclaw Quidditch team this afternoon. Dunno what we're gonna do, but sounds like some house bonding time I can't miss." She wasn't giving him much of a choice on the matter, but she hopped down from her desk and stretched a little. "I'll take a rain check, though, s'that okay? M'sure Tobes would love to join." Probably. |
