No no, it wouldn't do. Straightening her back and looking about her with keen, eager eyes, Justine was pleased to see a familiar, kind face.
Louis Bolton, the brave, well read Lion with the kindest heart. What was he doing at The Ravenclaw table? And why on earth hadn't he bid her hello!? Well, Justine would just have to remedy that. Smirk.
Rising discreetly from her side of the table, Justine slipped quietly to the other side, walking slowly up to where the young man sat, seemingly unaware of her presence. Biting her lip to keep from giggling at her own silly antics, Justine came up behind the lad and poked him playfully in the ribs. "Monsieur Bolton! I 'ave a bone to pick with you!" Justine jokingly said, in her heavy (fake) French accent.
POKE.
The tiny gesture sent Louis nearly a foot into the air in pure surprise. He’d been so distracted chatting with Paloma, that he’d completely failed to notice the sneaky figure of Mademoiselle Justine sneaking up behind him. Rubbing the rib she’d just poked, he looked up with a welcoming smile.
“Mademoiselle! What kind of a greeting is that?” he complained playfully, raising a dark eyebrow up at her.
OHWAITAMINUTE.
It had been so eternally long since Louis had last seen Justine, that he’d completely forgotten - she’s a Ravenclaw! Hence her presence at the navy-and-bronze table.
“Pardon my manners,” he said a little sheepishly before gesturing toward Paloma with one hand. “This is Paloma, our newest Raven.” As in, possible friend? Eh, eh? Cue the eyebrow wiggle, Lou the playdate master had arrived. “She speaks a bit of French, too,” he added with a grin, turning his gaze back to Paloma. Well, he knew she knew merci, de rien and all that good stuff.
Abby smiled at Jun at said "Yeah i am kind of excited i know i don't look it but this is a whole new experience for me" Abby knew it was true because her last school had been a muggle school
"Well, the only non-exciting part is climbing all those stairs to our tower," Which Jun had finally grown used to. Good exercise too. Going up and down all the time. Ugh. "I'm guessing you went to a muggle school like everyone else?" Because didn't most first years come from muggle schools? Jun did. A norwegian one he had liked until finally coming to Hogwarts.

Of course, all her favorite lion had to do was smile at her and immediately his slight had been forgiven (though she WOULD still be holding it against him.. For fun). Justine smiled warmly at the young man, though it turned into a cheeky grin as she watched him gingerly rubbed his ribs.
"Une meilleure voeux que j'ai reçu, jeune lion," Justine teased, holding herself up importantly. Naturally she was in the right here, even if she's completely failed to notice the young man's presence just a few inches away from her... "It is good to see you my friend, I've missed you," Justine sincerely admitted.
He looked well, healthy and happy and Justine was pleased to see it, Louis was one of the few friends she's made at Hogwarts and seeing him look so well made her exponentially happier. But her examination of her friend was cut short as he drew her attention to a newly sorted Ravenclaw.
"Paloma? Zat is a lovely name, it is Spanish, oui?" Justine said, turning her attention to the young woman, smiling politely to her. Any friend of Louis was a a friend to Justine, and as she had been in the sticky situation of being transferred in (Justine was assuming this was the case with Paloma), she felt compelled to befriend the girl and assist her in whatever way she could. "Oui!? Oh zat is wonderful! dites-moi tout sur vous-même!" Justine excitedly said, her refined Parisian accent slipping back into it's natural Québécois French, a slip Justine hardly noticed.

Oh look! It was Tobias! Would the boy remember him? Tobias had only been a firstie when Jory had graduated. "Hi,Tobias,'' the YATI said never the less.
Someone was talking to hiiiiiiiiiiiim.
Toby craned his neck around to see who it was and instantly recognised Jory, from Hufflepuff. He grinned at the guy and WOULD have waved except, you know, there was a Ravenclaw on his back.
"Hi Jory!" Tobias said enthusiastically. Mo wasn't too far away, so Toby felt okay with going right to their seats and still continuing the conversation. Wow, he hadn't seen Jory in ages. He'd graduated the same year as-... wait a second.
Jory had graduated. What was he doing here? "Why are you...?"
SPOILER!!: Sophieeeeeeeeeeeee

No, no. Definitely not.
She was beaming ever since she jumped on Toby's back and he didn't seem to mind - he just carried her along. That was the best part of his growth spurt lately, she had decided. She wasn't worried about crushing his little baby self anymore - they were equals, after spending most of the past year with her standing taller than him.
Her hands loosely looped around his front, she giggled when they entered the hall. All those people already there. All the poor kids who had to walk there. How sad.
"To Mo! And the team, looks like, 'cause he's already got everyone gathering around him. Don't worry, they'll accept you as an honorary Ravenclaw - doesn't really look like he's feeling too much better, does it?" Her joyful demeanor had softened considerably upon seeing that Mo did still seem somber, but she gave Toby an attempted hug from behind to keep herself from getting too sad. She gave a passing glance to the random adults in the room, then, but didn't think much of it. Same old weird stuff happening at Hogwarts. No big deal. "Let's go sit opposite him so we can give him funny looks and remind him that he found Cat and he can be happy now, okay?"
But while he was still musing on that, and starting to really think about all the extra adults in the place, Sophie had given him his instructions. Toby nodded and headed straight for Mo, who was only a little further away, so further conversation with Jory wouldn't be impossible from this distance.
"Yes m'lady," Toby said in a ridiculous accent as he went along, noticing the hug he was getting but being sort of unable to return it from this angle. He reached a free space across from Mo and carefully set his bestie down, noticing that he was now surrounded by a lot of the Ravenclaw team. He gave them all big grins and waited for Soph to take a seat before he squidged himself into the free space with her.
"Hi again, Mo!" the Hufflepuff greeted the Ravenclaw captain. "Hi Ravenclaws! Is it okay if I join you guys?"
Clearly, he'd missed the revelation about Quidditch.

Days of Potter 2023:___________________________ Which Bertie Botts Flavour Are You? You are Chocolate!
Another quiet summer had past with the castle feeling very empty without the students filling the halls, corridors and rooms with their voices. The lady was fond of that quiet, but when she had quiet she missed her Ravenclaw students and having brain teasing conversations with them or helping them figure out a very difficult riddle.
As the sound of feet and the murmur of voices penetrated the stone walls below the lady hurriedly made her way to the hall to welcome the new and returning students. Floating silently through a fireplace-lined wall she soon landed in an open section of the Ravenclaw House Table.
Once he'd been sorted, Nicholas made his way over to the Ravenclaw table. It was awkward, sitting down and not knowing a single person at the table. Everyone seemed to be involved in their own conversations, mostly discussing past experiences of which he wasn’t a part, so he contented himself with the odd bit of harmless eavesdropping and looking around. Which was about the time he saw the ghost at the table.
…
There was a ghost at the table. How was no one acknowledging this?! Technical fourth year he may have been, but Nicholas had never seen a ghost, had never really believed they existed (though on reflection he would recognize the hypocrisy of believing in magic but doubting other supernatural things), and here one was. The obvious fact of her intelligence and awareness nipped in the bud the thought of putting a hand through her, but he couldn’t entirely help the fact that his curiosity was everywhere on his face.

"Hey, See something interesting?"
Please don't say you see interesting birds. That joke is soooo old along with the bird watching one.
So far, Maddie was unimpressed by this badged person. He wasn't doing anything particularly special to explain why he'd received the thing which was making her wonder. She could say that he seemed friendly enough, though. Or at least willing to put up with some of the younger kids and that was somewhat of a good sign. Meant that she could follow him around a bit more and he wouldn't go all crazy on her in a hallway or something, right? Right.
Seemed badged boy was observant too since he was now looking right at her. Had she not been stealth enough? Oops. Maddie sat up a little straighter when he addressed her directly and wore her most innocent smile. The one she wore whenever her brothers caught her snooping in their rooms."Not yet but I'm hoping to." Honest, that was. She gave him hopeful looks and took up her previous postion, chin resting on hands. Come on, big guy. Let's see something great.

If you've got an official badge, then you must be important. But why? He just shrugged his shoulders and brushed off the thought. If Austin needed a boy with a badge, he knew where to find him.
Trying to keep the badged boy from feeling creeped out, Austin tapped on the girls shoulder.
She would have happily resumed her observing if it hadn't been for someone tapping her on the shoulder. Didn't anyone teach this kid to keep his hands to himself?
With raised eyebrows, the first year turned to face him and promptly poked him right in the center of his chest. Gently, of course, but in retaliation. Pokes wouldn't go unanswered, not with Maddie. "Yes?"
...
As more and more people joined them at the Ravenclaw table, Maddie got the feeling that she'd be quite happy here. Plenty to observe and make note of. Plus there were a few familiar faces with her now. Like the kid from the boat, the one with the freckles. He looked rather sulky which was dumb. Didn't he know that if he got the wrong house he could just prove the sorting hat wrong? That's what Maddie would do, anyway. The boy got curious looks and then she looked away because the small brunette wasn't great or interested in at comforting people and she didn't approve of acting like a big old baby.
And Dima! Dima was a Ravenclaw too? Maddie's face lit up momentarily when she saw him and she was tempted to wave him over but decided to watch how he handled himself instead. And boy had that been a good choice. Kid was a genius! He'd used his cute to earn him a spot RIGHT next to badged boy! Good one, D-man! That meant that he practically had an IN with the guy now and by association, it meant that SHE did too!
Gwen was very excited to be back. The summer had been strained, and she was grateful to be back at school where things were easy. Well, sort of. Last year she had been confused the whole time, and then she had gotten really really old, but people here didn't get upset because somebody was magic. They were all magic, so there was no jealousy, no freaking out, it was all positive and Gwen had missed that.
She sat down at the Ravenclaw table and glanced down it. She hadn't really been in contact with anybody over the summer, and now it felt weird to sit by any of them. They might think it was weird, right? So she settled in a space not by anyone in particular and twisted so she could have a good view of the sorting.
Kyroh was not crying. He wasn't. He. Was. Not. Crying.
He was close to it though.
After a few minutes with his head down he managed to get rid of the tears that had been so close to falling out. He didn't want to cry on his first night in the castle even if he if the hat was stupid.
A voice caught his attention and Kyroh lifted his head just a bit to see who if the person was talking to him. He hadnt seen the girl before. She had red hair! And it sounded like she was talking to him. His direction. Kyroh looked to his side and then back at the redheaded girl. She had to be talking to him right. He sniffled. Looking at her straight in the eye before responding with the best answer that came into his mind. "Ravenclaw." THAT was what was wrong. He burried his face into his arms again.
It took a few seconds to lift his head, all the while, the redhead watched and studied him, her blue eyes flitting over the boy like a therapist. Something WAS really wrong here. Did he somehow manage to get in trouble already? Was his mom mad at him or something? What was wrong on this boy with his head on his arms and looking like he was two seconds away from crying? Should she go get a prefect? Was that the next logical step? Maybe he would feel better when the food came out? Being hungry always left the small girl hungry. And you did NOT like her when she was hungry. Nope, nope, nope.
And he spoke, which left the redhead more confused. Ravenclaw? What could be wrong with Ravenclaw? It wasn't the house she thought she would be sorted into --okay, so that was a slight lie- but you end up loving it, no matter the circumstances. Like she said, it became her little house family. A really smart and studious house family. Including -hopefully- Paige. This was a great place to make friends! And you got to learn magic. ACTUAL MAGIC. Yeah, there were no reasons to hate this place. Not that she could think of. Maybe he was homesick. That was normal, right? He was about eleven probably. He might have missed his parents now. But what did that have to do with Ravenclaw?
"Why would you hate Ravenclaw?" The freckle faced girl leaned closer with curiosity. "I mean, if you have friends in other houses, you'll still get to see them. Half of my friends are hufflepuffs, and you can go see them in classes and walk around with them and such. Trust me, I wasn't happy about that part either. It kind of sucks to be separated from your friends. But you'll still see them a bunch." Wow, she was like an actual adult now. When did that happen? Ewww, was she going to be into boring things like the Shopping channels and eating dinner at four in the afternoon? The twelve year old shivered once at the thought. She needed more candy.
Also, obvious sarcasm was obvious. Looking towards the speaker, Caelen found another second year. One who was obviously not in a good mood. Probably hungry, as the brace face did the same thing when she was hungry, but don't take it out on a first year. That wasn't cool. Argue with someone who wasn't upset. Someone who wouldn't mind. Not already upset first years who were probably on the verge of crying.
There was one way the formally home schooled girl knew how to calm everyone down. Mostly because an argument was going to be an awful start to the school year. Not that the kid didn't know how to fight. She could argue with the best of them. But it was the feast. So nothing for the now. Maybe later.
Taking her bag out of her pocket, she opened it and offered towards the other Ravenclaw. Candy fixed everything. And though she normally was not a mediator, maturity must've caught up with her, because here the small girl was. Offering candy to deescalate an argument. That was mature, right? Somewhat mature? Not mature at all? Someone really needed to make a scale of maturity.
"Here, take some. You must be hungry. It's safe. Seriously." And to really drive the point home, the twelve year old shook the plastic baggie a bit, shaking up the assortment of different candies, from Muggle to Magic alike.

He knew he wasn't that great at making friends, although he didn't think he was that bad. "I just wanted to say hello, there's no need to act so snooty." Geese, he didn't have to say anything at all. Tora was looking up at the Gray Lady, waiting patiently for her response when someone she didn't know came up beside her. She could swear that he was about to stick his hand right through the Gray Lady. Only first years ever made such a mistake. "Hey you!" she said grabbing his arm and pulling him away from her House's ghost. "What are you doing? You weren't about to go sticking your arm through a ghost, were you?" she asked angrily. "It's very rude you know!" she crossed her arms before turning to the Gray Lady.
Her curiosity won over her flash of anger though. "Actually, why wouldn't you know it is rude? What house are you in?" This boy looked older, so why didn't she know him? Perhaps a Gryffindor? She didn't normally associate with Lions. But his tie was the standard Hogwarts one, not Gryffindor's or any specific house's. Newly sorted then? Surely not Ravenclaw? She would know him if he was. Perhaps he forgot his tie in his trunk. She shook her head to herself slightly and prepared all the questions she would ask him next.

Looking over at the prefect Helena said calmly "Good evening Nigel! You’ve got a riddle for me?" Listening to his riddle she raked her brain for an answer holding up a ghostly transparent finger elegantly in the air the Grey lady guessed. "Is it ridiculous?"
"I trust your summer was spent well Nigel?"

"Good evening Tora." The lady said as she watched another young student join their ranks after the Sorting Hat exclaimed the name of her mother’s old and noble house. "The castle was quiet. I past the time reading the new books the librarian had received in a new shipment. I trust your summer was good?"

If he didn't want to volunteer the information of why he was there to her then Helena would just have to get it from another source. Sir Nicholas was usually an easy target or the Friar. They’d know. Regarding the man she asked quietly "To which noble house did you belong when attended Hogwarts?"

Didn't parents these days teach their kids manners?

Dear?
Maddison turned in the direction of the voice that had spoken to her and was PLEASED to see that she was being greeted by a ghost. THE GHOST. The GREY LADY! As in Helena Ravenclaw! This was just...it was cool. Really, really cool. Also cool? How Maddie was playing it right now. Cool as a cucumber.
Maddison had never met a ghost before but she'd always wanted to. THINK about it. Ghosts probably knew more about Hogwarts history than any other people in the castle and that made them extremely enticing. Maddie wanted to meet them all. She had questions too but she'd make a list of those with important ones at the top and then ask later. For now, introductions would probably be good.
"Thank you. I'm Maddie Cooper, by the way." THE Maddie Cooper. Soon to be Queen of the World Maddie Cooper. That one.

See? It didn't feel good to be poked, did it? Not that she'd poked him hard or anything. Merlin, the way he was rubbing his chest was like she'd stabbed him with a fork or something. Take it easy, drama king. Quick with the name calling too. The small brunette tilted her head and observed him for a second before saying, "Just don't like being poked, is all. "I didn't get the house I wanted no. And I don't know if you're being serious or not." Kyroh said quietly, brown eyes looking at the girl. He didn't NEED a hug. But...you know...hugs were welcomed.
Awww, the first year was adorable. Adrienne just wanted to pinch his cheeks and crush his little dreams. She didn't like children, and the ones who were just enough younger to be annoying but not so young that she could easily boss them around were absolutely the worst. Still, she did kind of feel bad for him, especially when he took her question completely seriously. Poor kid couldn't even properly comprehend sarcasm! She decided to take pity on him instead of teasing him further, but just this once.
"No, of course I'm not being serious! But, seriously, what's wrong with Ravenclaw? At least the people here tend to be tolerable." Unlike Slytherins or, god forbid, Gryffindors. Adrienne couldn't stand Lions with all of their pigheadedness and stubbornness. Merlin, they were just obnoxious!

"Here, take some. You must be hungry. It's safe. Seriously." And to really drive the point home, the twelve year old shook the plastic baggie a bit, shaking up the assortment of different candies, from Muggle to Magic alike.
Adrienne was distracted from the first year at the sound and scent of something sugary, and her attention immediately snapped to the person currently offering her candy. "Oh my gosh, is that candy? Can I have some?" she said, talking over whatever the girl was about to say, and it took her a moment to process that the second year was actually already offering it. "Merlin, you're a lifesaver!" she exclaimed, picking out a few fizzing whizbees and chocolate frogs from the bag and grinning at her saviour. "I was literally starving over here. Don't they ever intend to feed us?" Truebridge usually wasn't that long-winded, which was nice, but could they just get on with it already? She felt like it had been forever since her lunch of sweets on the train. "Adrienne, by the way," she said around a mouth full of chocolate and held out her hand to shake.
What if he got in trouble for standing? What if there were no more spots left and he had to sit at a different table? What if he didn't make it back to the Ravenclaws in time and they left for the common room without him and he had to stay in Mikey's dorm or sleep in the CORRIDOR or-
A seat! "I can?" Uh... "I mean, I can! Yeah! Sure! Yeah!" Yeah!
Dima had a SEAT! He hopped into it eagerly, only noticing the badge after a second or two.
Was he sitting next to a Prefect?
O_O
Please, Nigel would always be up for an informal Quodpot game. Would you look at that, the kids actually took the seat. Maybe he was just to nice to just sit down like everyone else. Lets go with that. HeHe, seems like he realized Nigel was a Prefect. Not that it mattered or anything.
Now some fun, he knew he was going to get a look from Dora because of it . But whatever. It was in the name of fun and being a Prefect. Basically. "No problem. See my Co-Prefect over there." Nigel said moving his head towards Dora. "She only likes to be called Miss Dora and she is very dangerous"
Who says you can't have fun with first years. It is up to them if they should believe it. Or actually ask Dora.

What is it with first year claw and them being oh so clever. Was it in the job description or something. She even had that look that she had done absolutely nothing wrong. Which she hadn't. But still. Had she expected Nigel to do something. Now she got Nigel thinking. It is only the opening feast.

"I guess like Ravenclaw. I like the idea of it anyway. I just hope I can live up to the expectations." Jasmine knew that she would have to make an effort to get to know her housemates. Despite her outward confidence and friendliness, deep down Jasmine was really a bit shy and could be unsure of herself at times. However, she was determined that no one should ever know this about her. Looking down the table, she sighed. Yes, she would have to suck it up and meet her fellow Ravenclaws. Seeing that Lux and Bay had arrived at the Ravenclaw table, Jasmine gave them both a wave. Good, more people she knew.
Cris made Jasmine laugh again when he tried to figure out why the house mascots were what they were. "You are funny. You're right though. One would think that the Raven would be the mascot for Ravenclaw.""Maybe that's just one of the mysteries of Hogwarts.", she said with a chuckle. Jasmine had a feeling that the mascot story was not the only mystery at Hogwarts.
"I heard that the Headmistress has to make a speech and then can we eat. Good thing that we stuffed ourselves on the train because I would have been famished by now." Jasmine was quite satisfied at the moment after all of the goodies she and Cris had bought. Although, if the had to wait much longer, she just miiiiiight need a little something to make it through the evening.
Cris loved the sound of Jasmine's laugh. It was a sweet, lilting laugh. So different from the snorting or squealing ones that would grate on his nerves. He also loved the dimples that would appear on her cheeks whenever she smiled. He reminded himself to make her laugh more.
But then it was his turn to frown when he heard wouldn't be served just yet. His stomach reacted to Jasmine's news with the same disapproval, growling loudly in protest. "We have to wait for the Headmistress to make her speech? Somehow I think we have a wait cause it looks like she very comfortable right now in that chair of hers," Cris remarked reaching out for his goblet of pumpkin juice and drinking from it. Hopefully that would tide him over until the food arrive.
Either that or he was going to be making a lot more visits to the big boys room.

Cris, the sixth year she had met on the train came over and joined them. "Hello Cris. Sander and Andreas are your brothers, right? The lion is the Gryffindor mascot because Gryffindor is known for bravery, the eagle must be Ravenclaw's intelligence or wisdom, the Slytherin serpent is probably for slyness, and Hufflepuff is loyalty, and badgers are known to be gentle, but can be very fierce sometimes, so I think that is why it is the mascot. How do you like Hufflepuff so far?"
Cris blinked a couple of times as he listened to Penelope's explanation regarding the house mascots. This girl sure knew a lot for a first year. It sounded like ate had memorized the entire page regarding Hogwarts. Most likely from the Hogwarts, A History of.
In all honesty, he knew all about the mascots. He just wanted to make it seem like he didn't.
"Really? That's good to know," he smiled at the girl not wanting to embarrass her by admitting that to her. It was better for her to think that her explanation had been warmly received.
Now THAT seemed to turn the girls mood around. See, candy always helped! People should employ Caelen's candy technique more often. At least in situations with minors. Minors loved candy. The redhead knew that because she was a minor, and she absolutely adored the treats. Yeah, that caught the other girls attention real quick. The second year smiled, happy to have resolved whatever might have been brewing. She didn't want to make enemies here. Especially ones in her own house. That would have made this year even longer. And it was already going to be long, what with all of the internalized Spencer drama that wouldn't go away. Seriously, all of this was stressing the girl out. The habit of trying to braid her long hair that wasn't there was NOT going to go away if this continued. And the kid still wasn't used to having shoulder length hair yet! Less drama was a good thing. Less drama, less problems.
"I know! I'm starving too! The talking part of these things seems to go on forever. I can't wait for all of the delicious food! Last year, it was all so good! I ate till I was stuffed!" She laughed as her blue eyed twinkled with food-excitement. To be honest, the girl with the shoulder length hair was just glad someone felt the same way. The brace face wondered whether everyone enjoyed the Headmistresses long-winded speeches --to be honest, Caelen found them a little boring-- and if the short girl was just an outlier. At least someone else felt the same way.
Following the other girl's example, the girl with the short hair swiped a handful of beans from the bag and popped the whole handful into her mouth. Crunching down on the candy, the freckle faced girl made a face at the few bad pieces and then spoke.
"I'm Caelen. What year are you?" Speaking around the candy and trying not to be gross, she swept her shoulder length hair around her neck and to her other shoulder, thinking of trying a new look. But it all fell back to it's normal position. Stupid hair. Why did she have to get it cut? Why couldn't the twelve year old let it grow till it hit her butt and made people gasp when they saw it Stupid mom. Stupid Spencer. Stupid speeches. okay, hunger must be affecting HER too.

Hate Ravenclaw?
Kyroh blinked. He didn't HATE Ravenclaw."I don't hate this house. I hate the hat." It wasn't even like he didn't know about Ravenclaw either. Ravenclaws wore blue and it was started by Rowena Ravenclaw. They had the Grey Lady as a house ghost and Ravenclaws were usually really smart.
...Wait....did that mean he was really smart? Was he even smart enough to be a Ravenclaw? The thought hadn't even crossed his mind.
"I don't know enough things to be in this house." There were SO many things he didn't know. He couldn't be a Ravenclaw.
Friends? Kyroh held up his arms in slight confusion. "I don't know anyone here." He didn't have any friends at Hogwarts not yet-EXCEPT FOR KENZIE!! HIS COUSIN KENZIE WAS HERE AND- she was in Slytherin.
Stupid hat.
"Do you by any chance, know the spell for fire?" Also. "I'm Kyroh by the way."

His attention turned back to the second girl, sooo she wasn't being serious? "Why would you say that if you aren't being serious?" His tone wasn't accusing, just confused. Why try to trick him? "Nothings wrong with Ravenclaw." Kyroh said suddenly feeling burnt out. He didn't want to be angry about this anymore but....it wasn't fair. "I'm just suppose to be in Slytherin. Like my father and his father and his father before him." It was a THING okay? And now he wasn't a part of that thing. The thought made him want to cry.
But he didn't. "Ravenclaws are tolerable?" Was that one of their traits?

Cris looked a little dismayed when he realized that they probably wouldn't be eating anytime soon. Jasmine was extremely glad for the snacks they had eaten on the train, but her stomach was starting to give little signs of approaching hunger. "Wishing you had a few of those Cornish pasties right now, aren't you?, Jas said with a chuckle. Even when he was annoyed, Cris' eyes still had a pleasant look to them. His mouth was frowning, but his eyes were smiling. Jasmine could look at those eyes all day. They were just so mesmerizing and so.......blue. When she realized that she had in fact been staring, she quickly looked away. Jasmine suddenly had a big interest in the sorting ceremony.
Jasmine suddenly realized, she was probably keeping Cris from hanging out at the Hufflepuff table. "Am I keeping you from your new housemates?", she asked. As much as she would like to, she didn't want to monopolize his time if he'd rather be elsewhere.

Reason: Adding info.
"Good evening Gwen." The Lady greeted politely as the now second year student found herself an empty seat at the table. "I trust your summer was spent well?"
That was her. Gwen realized suddenly that someone was speaking to her. She smiled up at the now-familiar ghost. "Yes, ma'am, it was. And yours?"
Wait, was that new first year that everyone was talking to not happy to be in Ravenclaw? She listened to him say something about not knowing enough to be in this house. To be honest, she was a little bit excited about that. Maybe she would not be the stupidest Ravenclaw this year.
On the other hand, she didn't want him to feel bad for not knowing things, which was, after all, a little different from being stupid. She leaned down the table a little to talk to him. "You don't have to know everything already to be a Ravenclaw, silly. It's all about learning." That was the thing with Ravenclaw. Smart or not, what they all had in common was liking to learn things in one way or another.

The way Truebridge had ruined his LAST RIDE.
Might as well ruin their feast, then, so they could all move on and cheer each other up properly. "So... guys... I'm sorry to tell you this, but..." Just out with it, Branxton. Don't be such a Hufflepuff. "Truebridge is going to announce that she's cancelled Quidditch. She won't be talked out of it. There's some sort of danger, and... she won't be talked out of it." Might as well say that part twice. "That means I'm not your captain anymore."
Ugh. Right to the HEART of it. That hurt the most.
"And apparently my sister is here. Worst day ever." Yeah, we see you, Vivi Branxton.
While Tobes was talking to some random adult guy, Sophie hopped a little to get a better positioning on Toby's back and peered up at the staff table. New faces, yes, of course... no Tyner next to Truebridge?... and a CULLODEN. CULLODEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNN. Sophie's eyes grew big with excitement and she waited, trying to catch the man's gaze - and when his line of sight flickered past her, she waved enthusiastically from aboard her trusty steed's back. Culloden was totally jealous of Sophie's hot ride into the hall, wasn't he? He totally was. He probably wasn't carried up to that staff table. Ha.
Soon thereafter, while Toby was still talking to the random Jory guy, Sophie had tried to zone in on the conversation happening just a little ways away in Mo's group. She could only hear bits and pieces, but by the time Tobes had ventured over to sit with the Ravenclaws, she had gathered enough to put those pieces together.
That was why Mo was so sad. No more Quidditch, no more captaining - and on his last term. Tragic. Without thinking, Sophie instinctively scooted closer to Toby on the bench and laced her fingers with his underneath the table, not daring to steal a peek at his face for when he realized what was going on, too. But with the simple gesture, she was letting him know she was there for him.
"Y'cant just cancel Quidditch. That's dumb." She was more baffled than anything. What kind of threat was targeted toward Quidditch? Did someone hold a grudge that they couldn't play well or something? She had loads of questions, but it didn't seem that Mo knew very much about it or he would've told them the full story straight away. So, instead of pressing further, Sophie pursed her lips thoughtfully. Well. At least she didn't have to worry about letting the team down this term.
"No, you'll always be our captain, Captain. We love you. But none more than me." A flash of a teasing grin was shot around at the others at the table, but then she squeezed Toby's hand and looked at him for the first time to search his eyes for a reaction on how he was taking the news. Quidditch was his life, and she knew it. Poor guy.

I even have a Badger Roar." If she wasn't worried it might scare Bryant, Lux might have done it right then and there.
Seeing that her new friend seemed to have no idea who Bay was, Lux started mentally kicking herself for not remembering her manners. "This is my boyfriend Bay. He ate a Canary Cream on the train and it seems to have been defective." The last sentence was almost a whisper so that it wouldn't be heard by everyone. Lux did not want the whole school staring at her boyfriend.
"Oh, where did you used to go? I bet you are glad about the girl thing." Smiling, Lux knew a lot more about that kind of thing than she had last term. "I am in Third Year. You?"
So she was a puff, but wanted to be a lion instead. Must be why she wasn't at her own table, or they just didn't have rules about swapping tables during the feasts. "A badger roar? Personally, I thought badgers were more of the quiet growl type animals, but I suppose their vocal cords could probably support some sort of loud noise....oh sorry, nerd alert." Bryant said, his ears turning a bright shade of red. She probably didn't care all that much about the vocal capacity of a badger.
The fifteen year old smiled and offered a hand to the canary boy. "Pleasure to meet you, even among unfortunate circumstances." Poor dude got a bad canary cream. That was one thing Bryant was careful of, making sure to eat normal candies...or at least semi normal ones that wouldn't result in feathers or other bad things to happen.
"I used to go to the Scamander Wizarding School for Gifted Gentlemen... it's in a small wizarding village outside Washington DC, USA." He said quickly. "I...uh... it's certainly different having girls around." Especially since he only had a brother growing up. Lux was a third year, so not quite the same year as himself, Bryant thought before answering. "Oh... I'm fourth year. So um... are there always more adults here than just the professors?" Bryant asked, noticing some other adult figures stationed around the room.

The whole thing was in Hogwarts, A History, so he had probably read the exact same thing that she had just said. Seeing Cris drinking his pumpkin juice reminded Penelope how thirsty she was. She picked up her goblet and drank some pumpkin juice. Questions raced through Penelope's mind. How much longer would it be before the headmistress made her speech? Would it be a long speech? Did they have to sit here the whole time, just waiting for the rest of the first years to be sorted and waiting for the headmistress to make her speech? "Where do you live, when you're not at Hogwarts?"

Jasmine had a feeling that Penelope was going to make a lot of new friends before long. There was a table full of new Ravenclaw first years just waiting to meet her.
"I live in England, but I am from California. My dad is a muggle from California, but my mum is a witch. She wanted us to move to England so we would be closer to Hogwarts. My mum's side of the family all live around here, and we visit my dad's family for the holiday's."
Louis laughed. “Weird?” He raised an eyebrow at the girl. “In a good way, I hope?” He seemed relieved with her following words, though; after all, Lou had been annoyingly persistent about her coming to Hogwarts, so if she ended up hating it, then… he might be partly responsible.
Lou could just imagine Luna and Vader rolling on the seat in the compartment, one tiny black-and-white furball, and the thought got him to chuckle softly. “I don’t think ‘little angels’ get involved in paw fights.” Despite the playful comment, he strongly believed his precious kitten to be exceptionally smart and sweet. Like a typical biased parent.
At Pal’s following suggestion to visit Delilah, Lou nodded his head. “I will. After the feast.” And after he’d helped lead the first year Gryffindors to the common room. So, it might be a while. He noticed the girl’s little frown, though, and raised an amused eyebrow at this. “What, not a big fan of romance, Tiny?”
“I’m sure you’ll do great. You’re already more advanced with spellwork and charms than most,” said Louis encouragingly, giving Paloma another smile before finishing off his apple. To her following question, he shrugged just as she had done before. “It adds a bit of extra work, but I think I can handle it,” he said distractedly, fidgeting with the badge on his robes for a moment before looking back up at Paloma again. “Loads of watching over the troublemakers, so I hope you don’t put me in a compromising position, Señorita,” he added with a little grin.

Pal nodded at Lou then softly laughed, "I hope so. I mean, by my age...she already had her boyfriend, and present husband...so, she could have been happy for a good year at Hogwarts, and about her relationship?" She guessed, holding herself from a laughing fit. Well, she wasn't too keen on the idea about guys; at least she didn't feel that way. "Let's just let this year rock and we'll see." She winked, although really meaning that she'd stay until graduation. It was a promise...
"That's why she missed you so much, Luna. You can't accept little...details." But then again, she wasn't to complain about the lady kitten, most likely because her own was an alone menace to have around. She grinned though, and took out an envelope with a few pictures of the kittens, for Lou to have. "Here, to celebrate your title."
With a helpless sigh, 'Tiny' as Lou called her, shook her head. "I live to perform that romance, yet I don't think to find that honesty and playfulness in heart, body and mind in no one." Somehow, she didn't believe in it, YET. "But people are free to inspire me. You and Delilah could be a lovely example, yeah?" After all, she could use the moves to look more natural upstage.
At his comment about her studies, she couldn't help but blush then laugh. "Lou, keep low the comments about...the lessons. Please." She wanted to be on low profile, to enjoy her time at Hogwarts and also learn, to control herself, in the most possible way. "Don't worry, then. Just try not to cross my path when I come up with something..." She smirked. Not that she was to come up with a stungbomb in the middle of the year. Whistle.
Just then, Paloma noticed a girl approaching Louis who in a matter of seconds, poked him on the ribs. In a silent snort, she held a loud laugh that could've turned embarrassing. As they spoke, she couldn't help but notice the closeness, and freeness that Justine, as it was her name, and Lou had. Of course, it was his personality to be this friendly...and of course, for her a chance to make her own, too. All friends of Lou were to become hers, if they chose to...
And also...the acccent. For a second, Paloma shrugged her elbows and tried to translate everything in her head from French to Spanish, then think of a decent answer in English. Wasn't this a pleasure? "Umm...Yeah, it means...'Dove' in Spanish. In fact I am from there..." Yeah, she was going to take a bit to open up to other people, but she was also eager to make new friends than all the ones she'd made in Beauxbatons. "I was in Beauxbatons for the past two years, and I...decided to make a transfer..." For the sake of peeking curiousity, she guessed?
"But. How about you, where are you from?" And that's where she really needed the scoop from, because her accent, was something different. Like most students there, but getting to know Justine might be the greatest step for a good friendship.

Spotting a familiar bob of brown hair sit down at the table the Grey lady waved a short lady-like wave to catch the girl’s attention. "Good evening Charlene. I trust your summer was good?"
Helena was paying attention to the sorting watching how a lion was sorted next when she heard a heavy sigh coming from nearby. Eye’s turning to one of the senior girl’s she commented with a disapproving look. "Don’t rest your head in your hand like that. It’s very unlady-like."
The Grey Lady watched the sorting with big interest as yet another girl with the sorting hat on her head was sorted into her mother’s house. Helena watched as the girl came over and took a seat some seats down from her position. "Hello, and welcome to Ravenclaw house dear." She greeted politely.
Another new student was sorted to join the bronze and blue ranks. Helena turned her gaze to him a polite smile pursing her lips. "Hello, and welcome to Ravenclaw house."
The next girl to sit down was a returning student. "Good evening Amelia and welcome back to your final year." The lady greeted with a small wave. "I trust you had a good summer?"
A new eagle came and sat down at the table and buried his face in his crossed arms on the table. Helena held off on commenting on the lacking manners as she greeted him. "Welcome to Ravenclaw house dear." Even if he merlin knew why didn’t seem pleased about his new house at all. He’d come round if he didn't she'd acquire Nigel's help with the young eaglet or Mo's.
Why didn't the boy sit down? There was plenty of room at the table. The Grey Lady stared at the boy hovering by the table. If he didn’t find a seat soon Helena was going to enlist Isidora to find him one.
Helena pulled out an embroidered handkerchief to dap at her eyes she got the instinct feeling that someone was looking at her. Finding the source she returned the boy’s gaze calmly. "Yes? You know its rude to stare at ladies and to put your arm through them? I expect an apology young man."Hmpf!
Didn't parents these days teach their kids manners?
"Good evening Gwen." The Lady greeted politely as the now second year student found herself an empty seat at the table. "I trust your summer was spent well?"

That one.
Austin smiled at the ghost. "Thank you ma'am!" He said politely. He had heard many stories of The Grey Lady from his mum. So, he was very excited to see her in person.
SPOILER!!: The pokey one
Nothing snooty about that." Then a smirk graced her lips and she added, "Hi." Now it was his turn. He'd wanted to say hello to begin with, yes?[/QUOTE]
Turning back to the 'snooty' girl, he smirked. "Well, I can understand not liking to be poked." He rubbed his chest again, acting as if she had really hurt him with her poke. He didn't even poke her. He tapped her. There was a difference after all. And it's not like a tap hurt anyone. But he did understand wanting personal space. So instead of shaking hands, he nodded in hello. "Austin Moore. You're a feisty one, aren't you?" He liked feisty. It means she wasn't afraid of him, which, to be honest, was a good thing. He scared off too many people in his small lifetime to add her to the list.
Amelia knew that voice. She had been living near that voice for a month that summer. That voice's owner had saved her life.
Shifting she left her original seat and made her way over to where Jasmine, Cris, and Penelope were seated. "Hello" she smiled over to the other girls and to Cris, "I wanted to thank you again...for the rope and saving me from mountain trolls thing - anyways congratulations on being a Hufflepuff Strand." She grinned.
Cris was cool. But she wasn't going to insert her friendship at him like some crazy person. Nope. She was just going to say thank you....before skipping off and rejoining Huxley.
