Professor Culloden isn't by the door this time, but is sitting on his chair, looking at the door to see who was coming. The soft, calming blue walls welcome you again, as well as the chairs with soft cushions, charmed to take the most comfortable shape and height once a student is seated. By the door of the potions store room stands one big, grey rubbish bin and a white, porcelain washbasin with a tap for those who wants to wash their hands before/after the class and who can't perform 'Aguamenti' charm.

There writes a message in the Professor's own hand-writing on board:

Welcome to the term's second potions lesson. :-)


OOC: If you are going to RP your characer use the washbasin or the bin, you don't have to take Cosgrach's permission. Just assume he has granted it.

The lesson has started, so please don't post your characters arriving late. Just act as if they have been here all along.

Potion Progress

Cabeza de Turco
• Purified water
• 10 hippogriff feathers
• Half a unicorn horn (grated before starting)
• Glumbumble parts
• Half a Fwooper voice chords
• One drop of doxy venom
• Frog leg

1. Grate half a unicorn horn
2. Heat the cauldron for a minute at medium heat
3. Add 3 glasses of purified water
4. Add hippogriff feathers one by one
5. Count to ten and stir the potion counter clockwise once. Count to twenty and stir it clockwise once. Count to thirty and stir counter clockwise once again. - CAREFUL WITH THIS STEP!
6. Add the grated unicorn horn and draw an arrow pointing to right with your wand.
7. If the colour has turned bright white, add glumbumble parts and stir five times clockwise with wooden stirrer.
8. Add fwooper voice chords and wave your wand.
9. Add one drop of doxy venom. It should smoke for a few seconds. Wave your wand again once it stops smoking.
10. Add the frog leg and whisper a motivational quote or an inspirational person’s name.

-The colour is dark grey and it sits completely still even if you shook it.
-It depends on how strong your will is. The weaker it gets, the longer this potion will last and the more effective it will be.
-It will also reawaken suppressed guilt and especially these will eat you alive.
-Anyone can induce guilt, but the brewer is more powerful.
-If added into a drink (not potion), it will briefly smoke. Once the smoke dissipates, the taste and the colour of the drink is the same.

Text Cut: Kevin's detention after class
Cosgrach wasn't thinking straight, so he didn't even wince when he wasted a few ingredients for that stupid brat's detention. After dinner, he came directly to his beloved classroom and went about trashing it: he broke some vials and scattered the glass everywhere, MULTIPLIED the rubbish the students left behind, yanked the rubbish bin to the ground, turned those three buckets (one: half-done potion and two: purified water) upside down and spread the liquid to every single inch of the floor (the potion was sticky and ewwwww), deliberately placed some slippery and disgusting-but-cheap ingredients around the door for him to STEP ON and SLIIIIIDE, and opened a nasty-smelly vial of potion that would make any unprepared person nauseous. It didn't affect him, though, as this was his LIFE. But if that brat even THOUGHT of vomiting!

Satisfied with his work, he went and spoke to Alexa, and returned to sit on one of the desks near the door with cold-blooded calmness, waiting for his prey.

Unicorn horn grated, Toby moved on to actually starting the potion. He cast 'incendio' at the firepit below his clean, empty cauldron and turned it to medium. Once he'd checked his watch, Toby grabbed a class from his potions kit and used cleaning charms on it.

"Aguamenti," the Hufflepuff cast, pointing his wand inside the glass and willing for some really pure water to be produced. It was impossible to tell how pure it really was, but it would have to do. He checked his watch again and saw that a minute had passed, and so added the first glass of water. "Aguamenti." Toby filled another glass of water and added that, and then- "Aguamenti," -repeated the step once more.

Ten Hippogriff feathers had already been counted out, but Toby double checked just to make sure he had the right amount. That done, he added them one by one, really appreciating getting stuck into the process of making this potion, even though the idea of using it didn't appeal to him. Manual work, see?

Once each of the feathers was added, Toby started to count to ten as he picked up his wooden stirrer and cast a quick cleaning charm on it. When he'd counted to ten, he stirred the potion once anti-clockwise before he started counting once again, gazing intently at the potion and completely losing himself in the brewing process.

Toby reached twenty and stirred the potion clockwise, just once, before counting all the way up to thirty this time and stirring once anti-clockwise one more time.

Okay, done that. Hopefully everything was going to plan so far. Toby wasn't sure; he'd never brewed this potion before.

This is what happens when you daydream of a couple seconds after grating his unicorn horn. He gets a tiny bit behind. Right he should be heating his cauldron. "Aguamenti" Nigel cast into his cauldron watching it fill with water. Awesome every time and a lazy man's dream.

There filled up with water. Now onto heating it. "Incendio" Not too hot. Not too cold. Medium heat. Simple enough. There a minute. Ah what comes next, maybe Nigel should take some notes. Too late for that though. Right purified water. Three glasses ready. Nigel cast "Aguamenti" Pure water. Not muddy or disgusting stuff that Nigel would never drink. One...Two...Three. Three glasses made and three in the cauldron now.

Hippogriff Feather, Right. One at a time. One...Two..Three...........Ten. The most boring part it making sure you got a perfect ten in the cauldron. Not one more or less.

Now the really annoying part. All the counting in the world and stirring. Soooo much fun. Count to Ten. Done. Now he stirred in a counter clockwise direction once. Count to Twenty. Why Nigel would never know. But by the time he decided not to think about it twenty seconds were up. Stir clockwise once.

Done.

Add another ten seconds and what do you get Thirty. One...Two...Three.......

....Thirty. And the last step right now Nigel did. Stir counter clockwise once. Not too hard. If you can remember such strange instructions. Really 10, 20, and then 30 seconds.

Alright so the next step was called out after he was done grating his unicorn horn. He looked up and saw the second step. He needed to heat his cauldron without adding anything in it. At medium heat? Well that seemed pointless but if he needed to do it, he wouldn't object. He got out his wand and pointed at his clean cauldron and said, "Incendio!" and then flames started to roar to life and he felt the wave of heat. He also needed to time a minute. He looked at his watch and counted. After the minute was up and he timed it perfectly, he poured the three glasses of purified water. One...two...three. All done for now!

After he was just finished pouring his glasses of water, he noticed the professor called out another step. He heard it and he said he needed to add the hippogriff feathers one by one. He needed to add ten of them. He added them one by one. One...two...three...four...five...and so on. After he was finished with that, he needed to listen to the next step. He didn't wanna mess this up.

He needed to count to ten. He got this. One...two...three...four...five...six..seven...eig ht...nine..ten. He put his wooden stirrer in and stirred the potion counter clockwise once. Now he needed to count to twenty. He counted silently in his head and then stirred it clockwise once. Then he counted to thirty silently in his head and stirred counter clockwise like before. He waited silently for the professor move on.

But of course, she didn't know how to light a fire as well.

Normally, everyone would have helped her, as he suspected they did it for extra credit, and he didn't understand why no one heard her this time. In any case, he was next to her again and drew his wand to show her.

"The incantation is 'Incendio'," he said and repeated it slowly for her to fully understand it. "And wand movement is, you draw a flame with your wand." He showed with his wand slowly again, but didn't say the word not to produce fire himself. That was her job, after all.

"Go on, try it." He was there to help if it went wrong.


Cosgrach didn't understand the quick part, but it didn't matter, as she was confused about the potion he'd given her. Hehe.

"Why would I tease you?" he asked seriously - she was a good student, and he didn't mess with that type. "I'm sure you will." That was why he wa giving it to HER and not someone like Kevin, see? Yeah.

"Oh, the same spell, different intent: you think of purified water coming outta your wand." Because 'water' generally meant drinking water, so that was the intent, hence the result, see?


Everyone was doing well, or so it seemed, and Cosgrach walked up to the blackboard once again. Time to move on!

"Add the hippogriff feathers one by one," he said, "and get ready for a hard step - I hope you are listening carefully and DO it carefully - because if you mess this step up, you might as well vanish the potion and start over again." It was one of those IRREVERSIBLE steps, see? They had to pay attention.

"Okay. Count to ten and stir the potion counter clockwise once. Count to twenty and stir it clockwise once. Count to thirty and stir counter clockwise once again. Is it clear? Use a wooden stirrer, and don't forget to clean it before using - but you don't have to clean it every time. Once, thoroughly, at the beginning is enough and necessary." Got it?

Good.

He leaned on his desk to have a better view of everyone and to vanish any potions that went wrong after updating the blackboard.




OOC: I will post again approximately 20 hours later, so you can catch up if you must. It can be in one big post or in several posts.


One must be a potions genius then to see if the one testifying was induced with such potion. Ethan grinned at the potions master and noted down what his professor said. At least there is a counter potion for this, so it’s all good. Will they be learning that one in the future? Hmm.

Okay! The next steps were being said and the Slytherin sat straighter on his comfy chair as he prepped his next ingredients and materials. First was the hippogriff feathers. Ethan got the bunch and counted it first to make sure it’s made up of ten pieces. He didn’t want to add them one by one only to find out that he’s missing a piece. Such carelessness could spell disaster. So, the third year counted all of the feathers, and added all ten pieces one by one into his cauldron. Once he was done, he got his wooden stirrer and cleaned it. “Scourgify!”

Ethan eyed the blackboard and forced himself to focus real hard on the next step. He took a deep breath and counted to ten. “…9…10.” The Slytherin placed his wooden stirrer inside his cauldron and stirred the contents once counter-clockwise. “…17…18…19…20.” He peeked inside his cauldron and stirred the concoction once clockwise this time. He was doing well, yeah? Ethan started counting up until thirty, and once he was done, he stirred the contents once counter-clockwise. Aaand done!

Now, to update those notes…scribble,doodle,scribble.

OOOOH. Hard steps. Marigold listened first, then copied down notes, then triple checked to make sure she had the right instructions. She didn't want to mess up and have to start all over! But the hippogriff feathers she could do. One, two, three were added. Four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. She rubbed her hands and blew on them, as they were getting a bit cold. But now the hard step. Eeeeeep.

She counted to ten, then stirred once counter-clockwise. She held her breath, counted to twenty, then stirred again. One, two,... Twenty nine, thirty. She stirred once more.

She kept her fingers crossed, though.

Was she sure she wasn't a Slytherin? Elodie had grinned at that point, just because she knew that that meant she was like her family in some way and she needn't be feeling so much like she wasn't. She was a Roberster. No matter what her robes said. Robertser, Robertser, Robertser. Thanks, 'fessor. She had stayed quiet after that and listened to all the points being made, but had taken to drawing a happy stick family in her notebook. Family was on the brain again, it seemed.

When she was satisfied with her drawings of her parents, siblings, herself, nieces, nephew, puppy and best friend; she started to make the notes that she needed to about the potion they would be brewing today. Also... voice chords? They were putting voice chords into this potion? Was nobody thinking about that? Did voice chords come from dead things, and did they still work? Oh. Only half. Could half a voice chord work? Was that a thing? More research for later, then. She realised that the notes she had taken were going to need to be rewritten, purely because she'd annotated them as she went along and made notes of things she wanted to look at again in more detail later.

Whilst giving Connor a few looks and making a few faces at him, Elodie set about working on what she needed to and cleaned everything. Twice. Just for good measure, and so she knew she wasn't going to have a breakdown at any point later on because she hadn't cleaned properly. The seventh year grated half of a unicorn hair as carefully as she could, and was pretty darn impressed with how well her grating skills actually were. No finger grating and no death. It was all good in the hood horn. With that out of the way, she used her wand to heat her now clean, but empty cauldron at a medium level heat and watched the clock for a minute.

Producing 'purified' water from her wand was more than easy enough, and after a minute had passed, she added three glasses of that to her cauldron, before updating her notes with the ticks beside the steps she had completed and what needed to be added still. In went the ten feathers, one by one as instructed, and moves straight onto the next step as it was supposed to be highly important and something bad might happen or death or yada yada yada MORE CLEANING. Elodie cleaned up her wooden stirrer whilst she began her counting to ten, and then stirred once. Counter clockwise. Like she was supposed to.

And then she started to count to twenty in her head, whilst also praying that no one started to count in anything louder than a whisper, because she would probably hex their behinds and set fire to their hair. Eighteen.... Nineteen... Twenty. Okay! Moving on! She stirred just once clockwise, and then went back to her counting. To thirty, this time. Just to spice it up and test her language skills, she counted this time in French in her head, pleasantly surprised that she had no problems with it, and then stirred just the once in a counter clockwise direction.

Hopefully she hadn't done that wrong, because she wasn't looking forward to dying or anything.

Had that been one of things that might happen? Or was she just making everything dramatic so she didn't fall asleep?

Ingredients

• Purified water (This doesn't mean the spit of a pretty person)
• 10 hippogriff feathers (Could use these to make yourself wings instead)
• Half a unicorn horn (grated)
• Glumbumble parts (emotional bumblebee is not this)
• Half a Fwooper voice chords
• One drop of doxy venom
• Frog leg (legless frog is sad)

Instructions
: Clean. Everything.

1. Grate half of a unicorn horn
2. Heat an empty cauldron at medium heat for a minute ( ↕ ↕ ↕ ↕ )
3. Add 3 glasses of purified water
4. Add hippogriff feathers, one by one.

(Will die if not done correctly. Or not. Forgot to listen to what will go wrong, so do this right)
5. Clean a wooden stirrer thoroughly
6. Count to 10 , then stir counter clockwise ONCE ( ↺ )
7. Count to 20 , then stir clockwise ONCE ( ↻ )
8. Count to 30 , then stir counter clockwise ONCE ( ↺ )

OHHHH, Aguamenti! Maddie had seen the boy from the wall performing the spell and she watched him VERY carefully, noting his movement and the amount of water that came out of his wand when he performed the spell. He SEEMED to have done it successfully so she'd just mirror his movements and say the incantation as CLEARLY as possible! She could do this and her cup was READY for use.

"Aguamenti!"

HEY, SHE'D DONE IT! And she wasn't TOO sure how pure THIS water was must it must be okay, right? LOTS of people were using their wand for this step so she trusted their judgement. And so the first year measured THREE glasses of the water and added it to the cauldron. WOOP!

Neeext came the Hippogriff feathers! Maddie admired them for a minute or two before doing anything because they were quite interesting, Hippogriff feathers. When she was older could she SEE one in care of magical creatures cause THAT would be cool! Maybe she could ask the professor person if she ever saw him around! YUP, that sounded like a plan to HER. Now HOW many feathers did she need? Checking her LIST, she noted it was TEN.

"One..two..three..four...five..six..seven...eight. ..nine..ten!" All set!

WOW, this next step WAS a bit tricky! Maddie had listened VERY carefully to Culloden but she still checked her notes several times while she worked to MAKE SURE she was doing things right!

FIRST, Maddie cleaned her wooden stirrer! "Scourgify!" It LOOKED good so she held it in her hand and THEN counted to ten! "One..two..three..four...five..six..seven...eight. .nine..ten!" OKAY, Stirring counter clockwise ONCE, CHECK! Then she counted to TWENTY which took LONGER, obviously! When she got to TWENTY, she then stirred CLOCKWISE once! WOOP! THEN she counted to THIRTY which took even LONGER! PHEW, potions was HARD! When she got to THIRTY, she stirred COUNTER CLOCKWISE again and then put the wooden stirrer DOWN.

All set!

Why would he tease her? "I don't think you would. I guess I just couldn't believe my luck," she admitted. Then they moved on to purified water, and Sophie nodded along. "Easy enough. Thanks." Now she could finish up that last step before moving on to the new steps. She reached for a pre-cleaned glass then pointed her wand into it. "Aguamenti!" she said. She did just as was suggested and focused all her intent on the water being purified. "Finite!" she said when the cup was filled. She added that cup to the brew then repeated that step two additional times. There--three cups of water.

Now for the Hippogriff feathers. There were ten of them, and Sophie added them one by one just as the professor had said to. Ohh, a hard step? COOL! ...ugh. She did not want to start over. Sophie tried to hang on to every word the professor said. Uhh--got it. She thought. She picked up her wooden stirrer and cleaned it. Then she set about stirring. Ten...counter clockwise once. Twenty...clockwise once. Thirty...counter clockwise again. Okay, was that right? She didn't have to start over, did she? Merlin, she hoped not.

Caleb was falling a bit behind, but he was determined to catch up. He was such a perfectionist, he always got caught up in making sure his cauldron was clean and whatnot and often fell behind a few steps.

First things first - a clean cauldron. "Scourgify!" he muttered, waving his wand over the cauldron. There. The last thing he needed was to get his potion contaminated with strength potion from last time. Now he had to start grating the unicorn horn.

Ugh, this was tough. It was a HORN after all, and those were made out of like...bone or something, right? Still, he continued to work at it, taking care not to do more than half of it as instructed.

Okay after grating the (He was sure the unicorn was a cool unicorn when alive) unicorn's horn, he heated his cauldron at medium heat, counting to 60 seconds.

ALLLRRRIIIIGGHHHT, time to pour three glasses of uncorrupted water into the cauldron. One....two....oh, he has to pee now....three.

Next step, the feathers! Declan added the ten hippogriff feathers one by one into the brew. Check!

Okay, okay, okay. Now he had to count to ten...stir counter clockwise...count to twenty...stir clockwise...and then count to thirty...and stir counter clockwise. He can do that, yeah. Yeah, he can.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5..., 10. He stirred counter clockwise.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5..., 20. He stirred clockwise.
1,2, 3, 4, 5..., 30. He stirred counter clockwise again.

Okay, next step!! This kid is super pumped for some reason.

Alright next step, hippogriff feathers. Not too bad. One...... Two..... Three.... This would take a while. Why did it have to be one by one? Why couldn't they just dump it all at once! It would have made the process go by a lot easier. Six.... Seven.... Still, there was something calming about dropping them in and watching them float on top of the water. Nine... Ten... Ele- AH NO DONE! After dropping in the tenth one Zander quickly looked up to the board.

This was the hard step right? He almost messed up his potion last class, so he'd have to be extra, extra careful with this one. After ten seconds (he hoped it was ten at least), he stirred once counter clockwise. Now another twenty seconds. Cue the jeopardy music. Dooo dooo dooo dooo, dooo dooo dooooooo, doo doo dooo doo doo doo doo doo *repeats* AH TWENTY! Ding ding ding! Now once clockwise? or was it counter? No, the last one was counter. Wait what?! Oh yes okay clockwise.

He let another thirty seconds pass as he let his mind wander off. Hmmm hopefully the houseeleves were cooking something nice for today! Mhmm he could really do for some of their chocolate pie. Twenty nine, thirty! What was the next step? Ah yes counter clockwise.

PHEW that was scary. Thankfully everything seemed to go pretty smoothly. Potions could be rough.

It was Hippogriff feather adding time and she could totally handle that. She added the feathers one by one. AJ's ears perked up once he said that a hard part was coming on. The first year liked a challenge, but she didn't feel like starting all the way over so she paid close attention to everything that he said.

She needed a clean wooden stirrer... alright. She did the scourgify spell several times before it took and her spoon was all clean. The Gryffindor had to look at the board several times to make sure she was on the right count and would be stirring in the correct direction.

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. She stirred once counter clockwise. AJ counting to twenty and stirred clockwise once. Next she counted to thirty and stirred it once more counter clockwise.

AJ had done it the right way which meant that she could chill until the next step. She eyed Angel once more to make sure that she was still on target and didn't need her help again.

Norah looked up from her grating when she heard the professor say her name. Yup, that was her. Wait, that was half the horn, right? She looked at the horn's remainder in her hand and held it up for Professor Culloden to see. "This is half, isn't it?" It looked like half to her, though she had to admit she wasn't completely sure of its original size. DARN after all that she had messed up on the very first step. At least she hadn't grated the whole thing, though. That could be considered a tiny accomplishment. She figured she should put away the rest of the unicorn horn because the professor's eyes looked dangerously close to emitting sparks. She gave him a meek smile, "Sorry, sir."

Scribbling a checkmark next to the step she had completed, Norah added the next two steps to her notes. She looked around at the other students, inspecting their wand movements that accompanied their whispers of "Incendio!" It didn't look thaaaat hard, but she opted to mutter the incantation a few times, copying the wand motion with her finger, before trying the real spell. Like she said, she was NOT going to be that first year who blows everything up, nuh-uh. Pointing her wand at the burner, she cried "Incendio!" and a little spark sputtered at the end of her wand before sputtering out. Humph. Narrowing her eyes, she tried again. "Indendio!" This time, a cluster of bright flames shot into the burner, and with a prod of her wand they grew to resemble something that could pass as medium heat. Wooohoo! She held back from cheering out loud, though, because she didn't need Culloden back over here to yell at her so soon.

Counting down from 60 under her breath, Norah scanned the third line of instructions. Purified water? How could she purify water? Unwilling to risk another foreign spell, she rushed up to the front of the room to fill a beaker with water. 36..35...34... would the beaker just hurry up and fill already? She turned to walk back to her seat, slowly this time as to not spill any water onto her shoes. 10...9...8... she set the beaker down on the workspace and tried to blow on the flame, but it didn't go out. Huh. She tried again, this time letting a bit of spit in there two. The small flame spluttered out. Rude, but effective.

Now it was time for the Hippogriff feathers. One by one, she added them to the cauldron, grinning at the fizzing sound resulting from each addition. Coolness. Looking down at her notes, Norah noted the precision of the next step. Eeeep so much counting. She pointed her wand at the wooden stir stick and muttered "Scourgify" with a wave of her wand, beaming at her handiwork as it shone with cleanliness. It really was exciting when her spells actually worked. Counting to ten, she gave the potion a stir, and twenty seconds later she gave another in the other direction. She wiped a bead of sweat from her forehead and closed her eyes so she could concentrate on her counting. Thirty more seconds and a final stir later, Norah sat down in relief. 5 steps in and no major injuries sustained? Sounds good.

Thankfully she had already got the cleaning out of the way. Moving right along she listened carefully as the Professor rattled off the steps- thank goodness he wrote it on the board as well. Right, three glasses- with a flick she filled each one up:"Aguamenti!" She allowed herself a moment to be relieved that had even worked, it'd been far too long since she'd brushed up on her spells- add it to the list. She took another moment to scribble down the new notes...

Ingredients
• Purified water
• 10 hippogriff feathers
• Half a unicorn horn (grated before starting)
• Glumbumble parts
• Half a Fwooper voice chords

Instructions

Great. So, hippogriff feathers? First a unicorn horn, now these. She couldn't imagine these were particularly easy ingredients to get a hold of. I mean, how many unicorns were even out there anyway? Even if it was only half a horn each... And hippogriffs weren't exactly found by the dozen either. Oh well she could ponder the new Professors methods of procuring copious amounts of exotic materials later...

Right now she needed to start heating the cauldron: "Incendio!". She made sure to keep it at what she could only pray was medium heat and counted down from 60 in her head. Satisfied she poured in the 3 cups of pure water and then dropped the 10 feathers in one. by. one. At the very last minute she remembered to clean her wooden stirrer: "Scourgify!" That was way too close- that should really be written on the board for those visual learns out there. Now it was just more counting-

1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8...9...10 and stir counterclockwise 1...2...3...4...5.....20 and stir clockwise

30 more seconds and another counterclockwise stir and ideally she should be right on track. Ideally. She took a second to glance around- no one had messed up beyond redemption yet. So that was good.

The third year ceased his grating once he thought he'd had enough and laid aside the grater to look down into his catch-bowl. He shifted the substance inside by gently shaking it from one side to the other to get it to lay evenly inside of the bowl in order to mentally measure what half a unicorn's grated horn looked like. You know. Should he ever want to independently brew this potion again.

Cutty looked down at the ingredients list one more time. 10 hippogriff feathers seemed like a lot. No wonder the potion was hardly brewed these days. Not that hippogriffs were so rare, but it was enough that it would probably be quite costly. Though, this was the Catholic Church they were talking about and a different time too. Hippogriff feathers were probably easier to come by and even if they weren't, he thought they probably could've sold an indulgence for as many as they needed. BAGS of 'em! The third year smiled to himself, liking how the ingredients to some potions often reflected the time of their invention.

"Incendio!" He lit the fire beneath his cleaned cauldron and was about to grow the flame until it reached medium height, but found that the fire was born that way. Maybe he'd done it often enough that it was starting to come easier. He had exactly one minute to take out his measuring cup, scourgify it clean and conjure enough purified water into it. This shouldn't be a problem. He took out three liquid glasses and although they looked clean, he hit them each with a, "Scourgify!" just to assure no residual material had clung to them. Setting them all down upon the working surface, he spilled the trickle of purified water into their thin mouths via the water-conjuring spell. He looked down on it as the cups filled, willing his wand to produce at least three full. Once the minute was up and he'd had his water, Cutty added it to his heated cauldron.

Okay so now she had to heat the potion...How on Earth was she supposed to do that!? Arista looked around... A spell. Okay she would give it a try! "Incendia." Nothing... Nothing... Try again, "Incaendio!" Like last time nothing occurred. "Ugh! I'll give it one last try!" So after listening to another student she pointed her wand towards the fire pit, and said "Incendio." Unlike last time, the spell actually worked and and the fire pit now had fire.

Okay so let that heat and now for the water. She pointed her wand into the glass, smiling this time she knew it was a spell. "Aguamenti," the Gryffindor cast, once the glass was filled she looked down at her watch, a minute had passed so in the first glass of water went. "Aguamenti." Arista filled another glass of water and added that, and then - "Aguamenti," - added the next.

The ten Hippogriff feathers she needed had already been counted out, but being Arista she double checked just to make sure she had the right amount, because people made mistakes! That done, she added each feather one by one. Once each of the feathers were added, Arista picked up her wooden stirrer and started to count to ten, "1..2..3..4..5..6..7..8..9..10!" After she finished counting to ten, she stirred the potion once counter clockwise before she started to count again, this time to twenty. "1..2..3..4..5..6..7..8..9..10..11..12..13..14..15 ..16..17..18..19..20!" Once she finished counting she gave the potion another stir, but this time clockwise. Now she had to count to thirty! Fun that would be!! "1..2..3..4..5..6..7..8..9..10..11..12..13..14..15 ..16..17..18..19..20..21..22..23..24..25..26..27.. 28..29..30!" When she counted to thirty, she stirred the potion counter clockwise once.

Okay now that, that was done.. What now!?

Purpose: Manipulative potion
Ingredients:

One by one, the third year Slyth added the hippogriff feathers to his base...

Cutty made a mental note to try and coerce Sophie Newell for a drop of her brain boosting potion. One feather. There were so many rude comments waiting to happen in that, but he'd keep them at bay for the time. Two feathers. He still thought of Caleb as the smarter twin. Three feathers. He never stuck his neck out for nobody. And a fourth. Also, he was hard to convince of anything. Five. Sometimes, though, that could be half the fun... Six feathers...as Cutty imagined that one day he'd have a dire truth to tell Caleb...Lucky number seven...that might effect the boy in some way and Caleb wouldn't believe him. Eight feathers. And it would be funny to see what happened then. Nine feathers.

Aww yiss.

And ten!


Culloden had said this part was tricky. Cutty gripped the handle of his wooden stirrer and stared into his cauldron mentally ticking off the ten seconds. "...One.", he whispered in a scarcely audible voice. He stuck the stirrer in and gave the potion one stir in an anti-clockwise motion. He then, ceased and counted down from twenty seconds before stirring again, this time in a clockwise motion. Just once. He ceased. Half a minute. Just thirty seconds had been mentally counted down and Cutty was giving his potion one more stir. This time in an anti-clockwise direction.

There WAS more steps! Somehow he had fallen behind and Kyroh couldn't help but pout. He had been doing so good too! Catching the last of the Professors instructions Kyroh looked over at the board. Alright. He could do this. The first year quickly wrote everything down first just incase he'd need to reference.

SPOILER!!: Kyroh's Notes

Kyroh Scabior - First Year

Potion: Cabbage Dela Whooza (Or something of the sort)
History: It was created between 1542 (the creation of Spanish Inquisition) and 1689 (the Signing of International Statute of Secrecy). The Spanish Inquisition was this thing were people were being mean to other people and punishing them on their beliefs like big bullies. They made this potion to give to the people that the big bullies thought were wrong in their beliefs so they would follow them like robot zombies.
Purpose: Manipulative potion
Ingredients:
• Pure water
• 10 hippogriff feathers
• Half a unicorn horn (grated before starting)
• Glumbumble parts
• Half a Fwooper voice chords
• One drop of doxy venom
• Frog leg

Steps to make potion:
1. Clean grater, cauldron and bowl
2. Wash hands.
2. Cut unicorn horn in half and grate it.
3. Heat the cauldron for a minute at medium heat
4. Get three glassed of purified water
5. Pour in three glasses of purified water
6. Add hippogriff feathers one by one
7. Clean wooden stirrer.
8. Count to ten and stir the potion counter clockwise once.
9. Count to twenty and stir it clockwise once.
10. Count to thirty and stir counter clockwise once again.


Once everything was written down Kyroh picked up his hippogriff feathers. Slowly he added them in, one by one until all ten were ontop of the water in the cauldron. Then the counting began. One, two, three, Taking hold of the wooden stirrer Kyroh held his wand out. "Scourgify" He declared, wiping away any dirt that had been on it. Eight, Nine, Ten. Eyes turning back to the potion he dipped the stirrer in and gave it one good stir counter clockwise. Lifting the stick, the counting began again.

One. Two. Three...

.....Eighteen. Nineteen. Twenty.

Once more Kyroh dipped the stick into the cauldron but this time he made sure to stir in the other direction. Clockwise. Before lifting the stick out.

His focused was still there. He was still counting. Eyes locked on the potion for what seemed like forever but Kyroh knew it wasn't It had only been twenty six seconds. Wait now twenty-seven seconds! Twenty-eight seconds. Twenty nine seconds. Thirty seconds! Once more and for the last time, Kyroh dipped his stirrer in the potion and gave it a full stir counter-clockwise.

Lifting the stirrer out of the potion Kyroh wiped his hand around his brow.

HARD WORK! Mostly cause he had to focus so hard so he wouldn't mess up. It was a good thing he was so good at counting and paying attention! He needed a sticker or something! He had even managed to catch up! Kyroh waited, fingers locked, back straight and everything. NEXT STEP PLEASE!

She checked her watch to gauge when a minute would be over and busied herself with cleaning her gloves and getting her glass ready in the mean time. And she cleaned it again, too, even though she'd already done it. Culloden could tell her she didn't need to clean things multiple times all he wanted, but she was going to keep doing it. BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY.

...Was that a flailing Tobes? She caught him out of the corner of her eye and gave him a questioning sort of look, then eyed the Kyroh boy he seemed to be making friends with. Why was it always Kyroh lately? Soph decided right then that she needed to properly meet that bizarre little first year. Maybe he was cool, if he'd made friends with Culloden and Tobes already.

Half a minute was up, so Sophie busied herself with filling up her glass with purified water. "Aguamenti," she let the water fill up the glass, then sat back and checked her watch again. Sooooon... now the minute was up. She poured the first glass of her purified water into her clean cauldron, then cast the spell to fill her glass up once more and added it to the cauldron, then added ooone final glass of the purified water to it. There. All three. That's when she overheard the professor talking to Evil Slytherin Sophie, then, and the Ravenclaw watched with curiosity. A potion to boost her brain power? Ha! Good thinking on his part. Merlin knew she needed it.

........As Culloden explained the next steps, Sophie abandoned her glass and wand to pick up her quill, quick to scribble down the steps as he said them. She missed the very end, but was relieved when it was on the blackboard. Of course it would be. Still, best to write it down right away and get it in her brain to remember it better, yeah?

For now, she set to putting her gloves back on and gathering her ten hippogriff feathers. She added them to her cauldron one at a time, peering over the brim as they drifted down into the water below and counting quietly to herself as she went, just to make sure she didn't accidentally have one more or less. "... Eight ... Nine ... Ten." Okay. Just ten were added, so she started counting to ten like the board said, and kept an eye on the potion. The feathers looked kind of silly and pathetic down there in the purified water all by themselves, though. But whatever, they'd add more fun stuff soon enough.

Her gloves still on, Sophie picked up her clean wooden stirring stick and stared up at the blackboard to see which way to stir when the tenth second came - she became aware that Culloden was leaning against his desk right by her and felt the pressure to not mess up - when it did, she used her stirrer to stir her potion counter-clockwise a single time. Just once. Her gaze was still on the board, and she removed her stirrer to follow the next directions - she counted to twenty in her head, already reading on to see which way to stir next. When twenty seconds passed, she stirred one time clockwise. Feeling like the worst was over, she relaxed for the next thirty seconds, knowing she only had to count accurately and stir counter-clockwise once, so that's what she did. She kind of wished it had been the opposite way around - thirty seconds, twenty, then ten - so she could've worried less and had more time to read and mentally prepare herself for the next steps, but... she was pretty certain she hadn't crumbled under the pressure and messed it up. Counter-clockwise, clockwise, then counter-clockwise again, yeah? That's what the board said and what she'd done?

She thought so, at least, and she trusted herself well enough. Probably.

His mistake had EVERYTHING to do with him. Okay so maybe it didn't , it had actually been his own mistake for not reading the instructions right but it was far easier to blame someone else.

When he was sure he had done everything right now, the Gryffindor grabbed the hippogriff feathers and added all ten of them one by one in to the cauldron and got ready to do the difficult step. He COULD NOT make a mistake again. Not for himself, helllooo he was just twelve , he was bound to make mistakes now and then. It was part of the learning process right? No, he didn't want to make a mistake again because he could not STAND the smirk on the Professor's face. He was going to do this right until the end. Ugh, he didn't want to count so the Gryffindor had set his watch on thirty seconds. He would push the button after he did the twenty and just wait. He wouldn't be able to loose count like this haha!

The boy grabbed the wooden stirrer and cleaned it with a "Scourgify" He then counted to 1...2..3...7..8..9..10 and stirred the potion counter clockwise once. Next he counted till twenty , and stirred clockwise once. He quickly pushed the button on his watch and sat down on his chair while he waited.

As much as he liked potions, he hated these kinds of steps. Why couldn't it just be dropping ingredients in to the cauldron and you're finished? Why make it so boring. Yes, counting was boring that was why he had set a watch. He also still couldn't get over the fact that he had made a mistake just now. --BEEP BEEP BEEP-- Why did he HAVE to make a mistake in front of this Professor? --BEEP BEEP BEEP-- it was just unfair... --BEEP BEEP BEEP-- UGH COULDN'T THEY SHUT OFF THEIR WATCHES OR SOMETHING?!

Getting super irritated, the Gryffindor took a moment to realise that it was HIS watch that had went off. Kevin jumped out of his seat and in his haste to stir the potion his elbow accidentally hit the small jar of Doxy Venom and heard it shatter on the ground. Nononononooooo! He quickly stirred the potion counter clockwise again and was relieved that his potion was...kinda..okay? It didn't explode or anything.

But the Doxy Venom on the ground....how was he supposed to clean that? He didn't even know how to vanish something! GAAAAAAH.. this was NOT his day!

Angel added the hippogriff feathers one by one and smiled as she realised she had added them all, this was amazing, she was doing potions on her own.

Angel smiled as she listened to the Professor, oh she could do this. ""Scourgify" Angel pointed her wand at the wooden stirrer and smiled when it cleaned itself, she was sure she didn't need AJ for this she just wished she knew where the other triplet Abby was because they hadn't seen much of her lately and Angel was sad about that but anyway she had a job to do.

Now the hard part she had to make sure she got this right. "1... 2... 3... 4... 5... 6... 7... 8... 9... 10" Angel stirred the potion counter clockwise once, she was totally happy with what she was doing.

Angel now had to count to twenty oh boy didn't she like counting why couldn't the Professor count for everyone. "1..2..3..4..5..6..7..8..9..10..11..12..13..14 ..15 ..16..17..18..19..20!" She finally made it to 20 and then she stirred it clockwise once, awesome see she could do it, now what was next.

She had to count to thirty, why was this potion making her count so much surely the Professor knew this wasn't a maths lesson right. ""1..2..3..4..5..6..7..8..9..10..11..12..13..14..1 5 ..16..17..18..19..20..21..22..23..24..25..26..27.. 28..29..30!" Angel was nearly out of breath with all the counting she was doing, hey maybe she should asked the Professor if one of the steps includes counting to 1000 because she thought if it did she might struggle a bit. she stirred the potion counter clockwise once and beamed she wasn't sure but she had a feeling she had done it right and without her sisters help. she would have done a jig if she wasn't scared of knocking her potion over.

Hippogriff feathers? Got it. Such a pretty feathers. "Too bad you have to go into the cauldron." Candice added the hippogriff feathers one by one as the Professor instructed. Ten hippogriff feathers. Check.

When she heard Professor Culloden said that next part would be hard, the Gryffindor quickly grabbed her quill and wrote down everything he said. Its not that hard, its just complicated. She needed to concentrate on this one or she had to do her potion from the beginning. Nope she didn't want that, thank you very much. She grabbed her wooden stirrer and cleaned it with the Scouring Charm.

Seven.....Eight...Nine...Ten! She dipped her wooden stirrer into her cauldron and stirred it counter clockwise once. And now she need to count till twenty. Eighteen....Nineteen....Twenty! Once again Candice stirred it counter clockwise once and pulled out her wooden stirrer.

Twenty nine......Thirty! Again she stirred her potion counter clockwise once. There, she's done! PHEW!

Again, why would anyone pluck the feathers off a Hippogriff? It was gross. Leah got the feathers, grumbling about animal rights and added TEN hippogriff feathers, one by one. Ten plops inside the cauldron, ten feathers of a hippogriff gone.

There was a hard step. She was ready. That was a lot of counting. The second year pointed her wand at her stirrer and said "Scourgify" to it first. At least it was clean now.

Oh no things were getting harder now, taking a deep breath he tried to calm himself down before adding his notes. One deep breath…..two deep breath…. okay now that he was a bit calmer he added the next few steps to his notes making sure to get everything right on the last step.

Taking his hippogriff feathers he took one out and put it in his cauldron, then the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth. now that they were all in he cleaned off his wooden stirrer again just to make sure it was extra clean. "Scourgify" as he pointed his wand to his stirrer.

Picking it up he started to count.

"one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten"

and he placed his stirrer in and stirred it counter clockwise one time. now to count to twenty

"one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty"

now he stirred clockwise once. now his time to finish counting but this time it was to thirty.

"one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty, twenty-one, twenty-two, twenty-three, twenty-four,twenty-five, twenty-six, twenty-seven, twenty-eight, twenty-nine, thirty"

he moved his stirrer one last time counter clockwise once and he took out his stirrer.

He hoped that he had gotten that right, it was a very hard step. While he waited for the next set of instructions Bay crossed off the steps he completed.
