Professor Culloden isn't by the door this time, but is sitting on his chair, looking at the door to see who was coming. The soft, calming blue walls welcome you again, as well as the chairs with soft cushions, charmed to take the most comfortable shape and height once a student is seated. By the door of the potions store room stands one big, grey rubbish bin and a white, porcelain washbasin with a tap for those who wants to wash their hands before/after the class and who can't perform 'Aguamenti' charm.
There writes a message in the Professor's own hand-writing on board:
Welcome to the term's second potions lesson. :-)
OOC: If you are going to RP your characer use the washbasin or the bin, you don't have to take Cosgrach's permission. Just assume he has granted it.
The lesson has started, so please don't post your characters arriving late. Just act as if they have been here all along.
Cabeza de Turco
• Purified water
• 10 hippogriff feathers
• Half a unicorn horn (grated before starting)
• Glumbumble parts
• Half a Fwooper voice chords
• One drop of doxy venom
• Frog leg
1. Grate half a unicorn horn
2. Heat the cauldron for a minute at medium heat
3. Add 3 glasses of purified water
4. Add hippogriff feathers one by one
5. Count to ten and stir the potion counter clockwise once. Count to twenty and stir it clockwise once. Count to thirty and stir counter clockwise once again. - CAREFUL WITH THIS STEP!
6. Add the grated unicorn horn and draw an arrow pointing to right with your wand.
7. If the colour has turned bright white, add glumbumble parts and stir five times clockwise with wooden stirrer.
8. Add fwooper voice chords and wave your wand.
9. Add one drop of doxy venom. It should smoke for a few seconds. Wave your wand again once it stops smoking.
10. Add the frog leg and whisper a motivational quote or an inspirational person’s name.
-The colour is dark grey and it sits completely still even if you shook it.
-It depends on how strong your will is. The weaker it gets, the longer this potion will last and the more effective it will be.
-It will also reawaken suppressed guilt and especially these will eat you alive.
-Anyone can induce guilt, but the brewer is more powerful.
-If added into a drink (not potion), it will briefly smoke. Once the smoke dissipates, the taste and the colour of the drink is the same.

Text Cut: Kevin's detention after class
Cosgrach wasn't thinking straight, so he didn't even wince when he wasted a few ingredients for that stupid brat's detention. After dinner, he came directly to his beloved classroom and went about trashing it: he broke some vials and scattered the glass everywhere, MULTIPLIED the rubbish the students left behind, yanked the rubbish bin to the ground, turned those three buckets (one: half-done potion and two: purified water) upside down and spread the liquid to every single inch of the floor (the potion was sticky and ewwwww), deliberately placed some slippery and disgusting-but-cheap ingredients around the door for him to STEP ON and SLIIIIIDE, and opened a nasty-smelly vial of potion that would make any unprepared person nauseous. It didn't affect him, though, as this was his LIFE. But if that brat even THOUGHT of vomiting!
Satisfied with his work, he went and spoke to Alexa, and returned to sit on one of the desks near the door with cold-blooded calmness, waiting for his prey.
|G&T=<3|Snuggles her ALI!| <3's Saz |Master Lurker|
Bay walked into the classroom and said his hellos to the Professor "hello Sir" he gave the man a kind smile as he made his way over to his friends taking up his work desk he normally sat at… the chairs were something he couldn't get over.. fitting perfectly to him he sat down with a huge smile on his face.
Kace walked into the Potions classroom and was keen on learning something in this class. He missed last lesson due to being a little ill but he was determined to give this lesson a shot. As he made his way in, he noticed the other student's beat him to it. He smiled towards them and noticed the professor was there too. He nodded and said politely, "Hello Professor I trust you are well."
After he said he greeting, he went over to the back to find his proper workstation. He didn't see his friends here yet but they might come in late. He took out his notebook and started to doodle.
A SMILEY FACE! Elodie could have wiggled her nose in delight, but instead she pointed at it and grinned at the professor. "Are we gonna be all smiles today, 'fessor?" Because that was just brill! Ooooh, smiles! "Hi, by the way." She hadn't intentionally missed that out when she'd walked in, but the smiley face had just GOTTEN her.
Giving him a little finger wiggle, she headed to sit down, somewhere near her best friend but not right next to her. But Caterina and Sophie got smiles.
Connor walked into the class, he loved classes. Potions wasn't his best but he wasn't awful either so this would be fun. He liked learning and classes and books and all of it! School was something he'd always liked. "Hey, Professor!" He smiled and looked up at the board, good, this seemed to be a happy class and not a class with a grumpy Professor.
Speaking of things he liked he spotted Elodie and she wasn't surrounded by other girls, this made him feel a bit more confident. He plopped into the seat next to her and looked over with his best smile on his face. "Hey, Fancy meeting you here.." he said jokingly, he was getting better at this, right? He hoped so.. Even if not he was trying and that's what mattered, wasn't it?
Beverly Wayne was in a good mood. Despite her slight sleeping issues, she was ready to go when it came to potions. That and she really enjoyed professor Culloden's lessons. Now, if no mishaps were to happen, then she'd probably keep this mood of hers.
Slipping into the classroom a small grin made it to her face. It was the smiley on the board. Bev was a sucker for smiles - real or not. She knew it. It was a weakness, but no one knew that. And no one would. Her eyes landed on the older man, the small grin still on her face.
"Good day, professor Culloden," she greeted before claiming a seat at the front row. Wand, parchment and quill out. Ready!
Potions Numero Dos! Jeremiah walked in with a skip in his step, he might of only been a bit excited. Stopping at the entrance he read the door before grinning and giving the professor an enthusiastic wave "Hello Professor!" Good mood was good today and he only got better when he spotted beverly who he made a beeline towards and sat next to. "hi." he whispered as he set his book on the table.
Desiree walked into the not-so-familiar room for the first time in ages- it would be a lie to say it felt like home. Calming blue walls, a professor who wrote smiley faces on the board? It wasn't bad, just- different. She had to resist double checking she was indeed in Potions. A lot can change when your family decides to pull you out to travel the world for your fourth year. Not that she's complaining. Although that does make it sound a bit more thrilling than it was- most of it was spent with family in New Zealand, and sheep. Familiar or not, it was nice to be back, to walk in and send a small smile and a nod towards the professor, whose name she should probably know. But it wasn't her fault she missed the start of the term.
She glanced briefly at the washbasin and thought why not? but grimaced when she saw the discolored fungus growing on the faucet. Desiree had a feeling that wasn't natural.. and could only guess that a fellow student, probably a fellow Slytherin was responsible. Not that it mattered, she could easily perform the spell, and even allowed herself a small smile at the prank. Was it immature? Sure, but who was it harming really.
Instead of plopping herself near the front as she may have in the past she took a seat further back, deciding it might be more comfortable as she got into the swing of things. She had to smile again as the seat automatically suited itself to her shape. The professor had good taste at least. She didn't recognize anyone: surprise, surprise. But noticed another Slytherin in the seat next to her. He didn't seem particularly approachable so she just went about getting everything out; potions was still her favorite class after all.
Slightly surprised that Professor Culloden wasn't at the door to greet them, Lux wondered where the man was until she spotted him sitting in his chair.
"Hello, Professor. How are you?" Choosing a workstation, she took out things she would need for the lesson before taking a seat. Hopefully more people would arrive soon so they could get started because this class always made her excited.
"Oh, Lux." He smiled at the girl. He was glad she was the first one. Imagine if it was someone he hated.
"I'm fine, thank you. You?"

"Hello," she waved to Culloden as she came in, remembering that he knew how stupid she was now, and avoiding eye contact with the professor. Hopefully Adrienne would sit near her again so Gwen could read the notebook. The thing was, sometimes teachers wrote things up on the board without saying them out loud and expected that by their age, all the kids could read just fine. Which they all could, excepting Gwen-the-dyslexic. It was okay. Gwen would sit by Adrienne when the older girl came in.
Oh, the dyslexic kid. Well, she had a friend, right? In any case, he took a mental note to read every step out for her.
"Hey!" he said back and looked at where she sat down.

Crossing the classroom to the workstation closest to the professor's desk, Sophie snorted once at the board, and shook her head playfully at Culloden as she took a seat. As she unpacked her things, she remarked conversationally, "Nice smiley face, sir. Ruins your scary image a bit, though." Griiiin. Did he know? Still amused by him, she set to cleaning all her materials, as per usual. The perks of being early.
Snorting? What for? He grinned at her as his eyes followed her.
"I figured," he said and shrugged casually. He didn't care that much, see? He was happy today, again. Let's hope it would last this time.

Aaaand a student whose name he didn't know.

"Hey... eagle." He didn't know her name too, oops. He hoped she didn't mind much. "I'm alright, thank you. You?"

And it was not only because he had not befriended anyone yet or anyone tried to befriend him. It was simply because most of them were a tattletale, hostile bunch.
Hands in his pockets and his school bag dangling down his left shoulder, the Slytherin boy walked into the classroom with a careless expression and stopped by the washbasin. Oh...did people use this here? Did the kiddos use this? Ha!
Pretending to be washing his hands and actually washing them a bit, Gareth took out the tiny vial the wart growing kit potion out of his pocket as he acted like he was dying his hands on his robes then he quickly dumped the oily contents of the potion on the faucet. Now he dared people to try to wash their hands. Being done with it quickly in seconds, Gareth slipped the empty small vial back into his pocket and walked to get himself a seat at the back side of the classroom without greeting anyone.
...no greeting? Not even after the last lesson?
Cosgrach narrowed his eyes at this one and eyed him, but he was soon distracted with another student. Well, he would be watching this on during lesson. He didn't trust the boy.

The thoughts had been ringing in Grayson's mind as he headed down the corridor and entered the Potions class--
.................. Er. OKAY?!
Smiley face????? Was Culloden feeling okay? Had someone spiked his morning cup of coffee? Eyes went over to any of the people in the Huggers and Finders house because if anyone was going to try and make people unnecessarily happy, it was going to be them. Maybe this was a good thing. Maybe, just MAYBE, he'd stay in this mood for the rest of the day, guaranteed that nobody decided to make him mad.
Whatever. Professor. "Hello Professor!" he called, before heading over towards a seat and plopping down. He pulled out his things slowly, his eyes still focused on the board and a look of mild confusion spread across his face. It. Was. That. SMILEY FACE. He just didn't understand.
He was eyeing the smiley there, right? Ehehe. This professor liked to surprise his students.
"Hey there," he greeted the boy with a grin. He lived for these reactions!

As he ran enthusiatically towards the door, he noticed that the Professor wasn't standing at the door this time. Which was a good thing because right before he entered the classroom he had changed his happy features in to a normal looking expression. He looked the Professor straight in the eyes as he walked passed his desk and sneered at him. He then turned around without saying an hello and sat down on a seat. The cushion shaping his form.
POTIONS YAY
...sneering...
If only the boy KNEW! Cosgrach grunted in reply, then reprimanded himself for acknowledging the kid, even. This one didn't even deserve his recognition, but alas!, he could brew potions.

She took a deep breath before entering the classroom, distinctly aware of her bordering-on-nothing knowledge of potions. Despite this, Norah still gave the professor a wide grin when she stepped into the uncharacteristically calming dungeon classroom. "Hello, professor!" What was his name again?
Norah weaved her way through the cushiony chairs to take a seat right in the front. She wouldn't want to be too far from the professor if she blew up her cauldron or anything, yep.
"Hello student!" He didn't know her name too. What a coincidence. He watched her sit in the front, and HOPED she could BREW.

Then he turned around, found an empty workstation and sat down. Pulling out his textbook and writing material, he placed them on the table. Opening up his textbook, he decided to review some of his notes while waiting.
"Cris Strand, good to see you," he greeted the boy back with a smile. He wondered if he had any more siblings, because Strands were good.

The first year skipped into the room, eyes only glancing on the board for a second. LOOK SMILEY FACE! "HI PROFESSOR CULLODEN!" See? He had gotten it right this time. Looking around a bit he ran over to the spot in the classroom where Toby had been before. Hopefully he'd sit here this time too. WITH HELPER MO!
Oh, it was Kyroh, wasn't he? Cosgrach still hadn't decided what to feel about the boy, but he grinned widely at him. In any case, he was a nice lad with an innocent heart.
"HI, KYROH!" he answered back. Hopefully he would like this lesson.

"Good day Professor," he greeted politely to the seated man. It wasn't his fault potions wasn't a good class for him. Even if Ben had seemingly managed to keep surviving the lessons so far since he had arrived. Moving further inside the classroom so others could come in as well, the third year snatched a free seat in the middle of the workstations.
Benny hehehe where was Adi yet? What was taking the boy so longgg? Cosgrach didn't know, but the Hufflepuff's secret was safe with him, so he simply greeted Benny with a "Afternoon, Ben!" He didn't even say 'Benny'. Progress!

Must've been the smiley face.
Cutty took out his wand and hand by hand cleansed beneath his fingernails and his hands.
Cutty - greeting him!
"Hello, son." He looked at the boy for a moment longer before he turned his attention to Cat.

Considering that she'd been working on Uni things and reading before class, she still had her glasses on as she entered the lesson. She hadn't noticed them until it was too late to take them back to her dorm, so she supposed she was just going to have to wear them until she could return.
"Hello, Professor." She smiled happily at the man as always. Aww! Lookit the smiley face on the board! That was cute. Sophie was also cute and Cat decided to sit near her today.
...since when had she been wearing glasses?
Oh well. Apparently she did.
"Hello, Cat," he greeted her thoughtfully, but a moment later, it was away and he smiled.

Some of her colleagues find it close to Herbology from the usage of plants and its parts but Cassia refused to think that. She wouldn't compare the two subjects, which one of them she loathed while the other she enjoyed. Surely it was obvious which she enjoyed. The one she was heading to attend right now.
And it was close to her common room so it was absolutely convenient. Meaning she'd never be late as well as not having to head for class too early.
The seventh year entered the classroom and her eyes first caught the writing on the board. Aww, a smiley face. What a better thing to first see than that. The blond's face mirrorred the smile as she stepped further into the room. "Good day, Professor, I hope you're well," He surely did look so but just to check on the man and all.
"Head Girl," he greeted back and a bow and smile, "I'm alright, thank you. And you?" Did she like the smile? Ehehe.

Vesper beamed at the nice gesture when taking her seat. She hadn't chosen to sit anywhere special...or near anyone in particular. It all looked about the same to the Ravenclaw. The calming blue walls were slightly disarming at first, but she'd long gotten over them in this setting. Relaxed potion making. Mhm.
Taking out her notebook and quill, she doodled while waiting for something interesting to happen.
No greeting? Nothing? Just beaming? Oh well. Cosgrach watched her with a small smile. He wanted to see what she was doing on her notebook, but he knew he shouldn't be nosy, so.

She could tell that she had accidently made a mistake while practicing a potion and it had ruined ALL her school clothes, so she needed to stay indoors until she had a new pair of school clothes! Yes! That was a good story! A big grin appeared on her lips and still with that same grin she entered the potion classroom, curious who this new teacher was and if he, or she, was good enough to take the place from her previous potion teacher… But, the first thing she saw when she entered the classroom were… Blue? Euhg… All the walls were blue! This was NOT a good beginning of her first potion lesson from this year!
Next she saw message the teacher had left for them and she frowned again, not so sure what to think about it, then she saw the professor... She walked toward him, stopped and looked at him, curious. Not sure if he was friendly or not she offered him her hand, "Hello profess, I'm Sonea Duvessa, i have missed you first lesson, but... Nice to meet you." She smiled her most sweet smile and she walked away from him. Slowly she searched for a empty place to sit and she waited for something to happen...
A hand? A student was offering him a hand!?
Wasn't that sweet, now! Cosgrach eagerly shook her hand with a smile on his face. She even introduced herself and apologised! See this, people? This was how you should treat professors!
"Nice to meet you, Sonea, I'm Cosgrach Culloden," he said back in wonder.
New favourite student here!

But noticed another Slytherin in the seat next to her. He didn't seem particularly approachable so she just went about getting everything out; potions was still her favorite class after all.
Well? Another one that didn't greet him?
Oh well.
Cosgrach shrugged to himself, checked the time and used his wand to close the door. Then, getting up, he smiled at them.
"This will also be our last class for the term, I hope you will enjoy it. Before we begin brewing, I have three questions for you." He looked at their faces as he paused briefly. Then, clapping his hands once, he said "The first one is: which emotions can be used to manipulate people and how? For example, guilt is a strong manipulator. A person feeling guilty would do possibly anything to relieve his conscience. What else?"

LAST potions class? But that was LAME. Maddie frowned slightly from her seat but didn't VOICE her displeasure. She DID have questions, though. Maybe she really SHOULD pop into Culloden's office someday for a sitdown. MAYBE.
Manipulating people? Maddie tapped her chin thoughtfully. The only people SHE tended to manipulate were her older brothers and THAT'S only cause they deserved it. "When you're charming you can manipulate people SUPER easy. Like you can SWEET talk people into doing things you want cause you're all swoony and people want to be your friend." YUP. "AND when you're cute but that's not really an EMOTION." NOT that she knew anything about THAT. Ahem.

Oh, yeah, guilt. Definitely a rather manipulative emotion. Guilt is what he felt most of the time actually. Dec was aware that he could be a bit mean sometimes and the after-feeling was always there to remind him too. Honestly, he's tried to just speak of nice things, buuuuuut, that hasn't been working so far.
"Love...?" The word awkwardly fell out of his mouth, "...could be manipulative if used in that way, couldn't it?" Ya know, like...'You'd do this if you love me' kind of ugly stuff.
Nigel was here. Though he did not know why. Maybe since like Culloden pointed out it was the last potions class of the semester and Nigel wanted to make a potion. Pretty simple really. Plus it was Nigel's last term. So one more lesson of Potions would not hurt him at all.
Could be fun, who knows.
Ah, Manipulating People. Now that was an interesting question. If they were an idiot then it was pretty easy. But Culloden was talking about emotions. The obivous answer was sympathy. But Nigel did not really want to say that. "Not really an emotion. But appealing to their rational side works if they think logically. If you are good at making up believable facts and stories on the spot."
Now that was a talent worth having.

Potions was awesome and she was excited to see what crazy potion they would be brewing this time. AJ knew that the strength potion would be hard to beat, but she was hopeful.
Hmmm.... thinking about the different emotions there was one that automatically came to mind. The first year raised her hand. "What about being sad professor? I know when I use sad puppy dog eyes my dad will do anything for me." Her mom never fell for it, but that's what her dad was for.

LAST Potions class?! This was not FAIR. As one of her favourite classes, Lux wanted to have as many of these lessons as possible. Depressed at this news, she didn't know how to respond to his question of how she was. Instead, she pouted.
Siiiiiiigh.
Manipulate people? Were they going to brew a potion that allowed you to manipulate others? Lux sure hoped not! Raising her hand, she tried to venture a guess at how else someone could be manipulated. "I don't really know if it's so much an EMOTION, but it it possible to manipulate others out of pity. Like if you make them feel bad for you, you can get them to do things." Okay, she was a fail. Just ignore her.

manipulation.. hmmmm.. this potions class seemed like it was going to be a very good one, he couldn't wait to see what they would be doing.. Raising his hand "Professor…errrrr…sir…Fear would be a good emotion to make people do things…" he nervously looked around and then continued on "its not like i've ever done it but if someone I loved or in my family" he looked over at Lux and quickly looked back at the Professor "was in danger and i was told to do something to save them… the fear of losing them would make me want to do it".
He hoped that made sense.. and he hoped that everyone didn't think he was this evil dude that was sitting there amongst them planning things.. he was Bay a good nice young man.. Bay had to Gulp…. eyes down… hopefully no one would be starring at him.

Wait, this was the last class of term? Awww, Caleb was kind of disappointed. Culloden had grown on him hard core since his gran had left, but he was starting to get excited for this lesson. Manipulation? Hmmm? That sounded interesting for sure...
He raised his hand. "I'd say love is a great way to manipulate someone. I mean, seriously, how many times have you heard of someone using love to get fancy clothes and stuff?" he said. What were those people called again? Coal diggers?

The lesson was starting. Excellent! Wait...what? Manipulating people? Was that what the potion would be about that they would be brewing? Well, they would find out soon enough. Adi thought about the question before raising his hand.
"Fear, Professor. Someone can inflict fear on another by threatening them or their families, blackmailing them or something along those lines.'' People can do anything when it came to their families or protecting their reputation.
"Oh, Lux." He smiled at the girl. He was glad she was the first one. Imagine if it was someone he hated.
"I'm fine, thank you. You?"
Oh, the dyslexic kid. Well, she had a friend, right? In any case, he took a mental note to read every step out for her.
"Hey!" he said back and looked at where she sat down.
Snorting? What for? He grinned at her as his eyes followed her.
"I figured," he said and shrugged casually. He didn't care that much, see? He was happy today, again. Let's hope it would last this time.
Aaaand a student whose name he didn't know.
"Hello, welcome." He smiled at her politely. Oh well.
"Hey... eagle." He didn't know her name too, oops. He hoped she didn't mind much. "I'm alright, thank you. You?"
"Hello, Marigold." He nodded and smiled at her.
...no greeting? Not even after the last lesson?
Cosgrach narrowed his eyes at this one and eyed him, but he was soon distracted with another student. Well, he would be watching this on during lesson. He didn't trust the boy.
He was eyeing the smiley there, right? Ehehe. This professor liked to surprise his students.
"Hey there," he greeted the boy with a grin. He lived for these reactions!
...sneering...
If only the boy KNEW! Cosgrach grunted in reply, then reprimanded himself for acknowledging the kid, even. This one didn't even deserve his recognition, but alas!, he could brew potions.
"Hello student!" He didn't know her name too. What a coincidence. He watched her sit in the front, and HOPED she could BREW.
"Cris Strand, good to see you," he greeted the boy back with a smile. He wondered if he had any more siblings, because Strands were good.
Oh, it was Kyroh, wasn't he? Cosgrach still hadn't decided what to feel about the boy, but he grinned widely at him. In any case, he was a nice lad with an innocent heart.
"HI, KYROH!" he answered back. Hopefully he would like this lesson.
Benny hehehe where was Adi yet? What was taking the boy so longgg? Cosgrach didn't know, but the Hufflepuff's secret was safe with him, so he simply greeted Benny with a "Afternoon, Ben!" He didn't even say 'Benny'. Progress!
Cosgrach smiled and nodded back. He didn't know this one's name either, soooo... silence was golden.
Cutty - greeting him!
"Hello, son." He looked at the boy for a moment longer before he turned his attention to Cat.
...since when had she been wearing glasses?
Oh well. Apparently she did.
"Hello, Cat," he greeted her thoughtfully, but a moment later, it was away and he smiled.
"Adi!" He griiiiinned. Well? Was the potion ready? Did he need help? How was Ben - WHY didn't he sit with him!? Was Benny angry because he found out the plan and -
Okay okay, he had a class to teach, but he would be eyeing these two!
"Head Girl," he greeted back and a bow and smile, "I'm alright, thank you. And you?" Did she like the smile? Ehehe.
No greeting? Nothing? Just beaming? Oh well. Cosgrach watched her with a small smile. He wanted to see what she was doing on her notebook, but he knew he shouldn't be nosy, so.
"Elodie," he greeted her with a big grin. "I'm afraid it might be the opposite, but I hope we can keep positive despite the negative things in life."
Such philosophy. Ehehehe.
"Afternoon, Miss Wayne!" He beamed at the girl - she was also one of his favourites, did she know? If he had to show someone as an example, she would be there.
Oh, she would? Ehehehe. Cosgrach laughed at her remark (though he also felt guilty for Sophie Brown reasons) and shook his head at her.
"I'm glad you approve, Miss Newell." His tone was light and friendly. And he didn't look at the other Sophie for a while.
"Hello!" New girl. He was glad she came to this class too. She had potential.
"Bay, hello!" Hi! He was one nice student too. Cosgrach liked him.
"Hello, badger!" He smiled at the boy and nodded. "I'm fine, thanks. You?" Hopefully well enough to keep a cauldron safe.
"Hello!" Hehe, he WAS happy today, and he hoped to keep his mood!
"Jeremiah!" Cosgrach greeted the man, and intelligently noted he sat with Miss Beverly again. He distracted his one of the best students, and Cosgrach would simply kill him.
Connor looked up at the Professor, excited to let the lesson go on..But it was the last one? Merlin..well he hoped it was a good one then. Noting how comfortable the chair was he shifted a little in it, getting comfy.
It was an interesting question...there were a lot of emotions he could think of, but he wasn't sure if he was only supposed to say one or anything he could think of..hmm. He just decided to go with his gut and say what came to mind. He raised his hand "Well Professor, i'm sure most would answer love which would be a good answer, but there's also Anger, Jealousy, Hate and even Happiness could be used to manipulate someone really.." But he couldn't think why someone would wanna manipulate others. Nope..that didn't sound right at all.

Elodie gave Connor a grin as he sat beside her, and elbowed him gently at his remark. "You following me, kid?" She knew he wasn't, but heh. It was nice to have someone sitting beside her that she approved of.
Emotions. Manipulation. Oh... Right. Were they going to be doing something illegal this lesson? "Upset? If someone is sad, they might be desperate enough to try anything to feel happy. Which...someone could take advantage of." Here's looking at you, Meatball. Always nuzzling whenever Elodie was having a bad day. Making her bad for HIM and doing exactly what he wanted.
Why was everyone considering love? Ugh. That thing was just... Ugh.

Dima had taken the same seat he had in the last lesson, right next to Lex and Grayson, because this was a HARD class. So he'd need help from smart people, yeah? And they were right there! Plus Mikey was... somewhere. But he didn't actually know where Mikey sat.
He hoped that wouldn't earn him another ear flick.
"Generosity can be manipulated," he chimed in. Did that count as an emotion? That had been a problem for him, on account of the kid liked to share EVERYTHING and often was taken advantage of in the past. Not that he really minded that either. Sharing was good!

CAT WAS SITTING WITH HER. HI CAT. Sophie gave her long lost sister the brightest of smiles and her posture considerably relaxed. It was nice to have Cat there. Did Cat know how good Soph was at potions? If not, the third year was certain she'd be impressed with her today. Hehe. She was so excited with Cat's presence that she didn't even notice Culloden's friendliness with Soph's self-declared arch-enemy.
Last class. Boo. At least there was a collective sort of reaction of disappointment from everyone. It was nice that everyone was enjoying the professor and his lessons. She grinned for him and set her wand down, having scourgified everything she could, and thought it was curious that he was starting out with some questions. Hmmm. Tricky. While she thought it over, some of the answers she was deciding upon were being said, so before someone else took another of her ideas, she raised an eager hand.
"Trust, sir. If you know someone feels that they can trust you, you can pretty much make 'em do what you want, to some extent. Either trusting your judgment or trusting that you wouldn't hurt them." She knew she'd do just about anything for the people she trusted, no matter how large or strange their requests were.

Last lesson?
LAST lesson?! Come again?
Grayson's eyebrows furrowed as he looked at the Potions master. They had just STARTED the year, more or less. He hadn't even sent home his Christmas wish list and here this man was, ready to stop teaching them for the rest of the year. What in the name of Merlin? Couldn't another class be ending early? One of the ones that required zero practical work? But noooOOOooooo! It had to be the one that was freaking interesting. Jeez
Though, thinking about it, maybe THIS was why he was acting as if he had added a couple of drops of an Elixer to Induce Euphoria with his morning cup of coffee. No more kids trying to blow up his classroom because they couldn't master the fire spell correctly. If he was a professor, he'd be jolly about this too. Uh huh.
The question? Easy peasy. "Guilt is a good way to try and manipulate someone," he said, his hand in the air, "If you got caught in the act of doing something you shouldn't be and you want to keep it quiet, someone can eaaaaaaasily manipulate you. Or, alternatively, if you caught someone red-handed, you could use what you know against them to achieve whatever it is you want to achieve. Manipulation. Uh huh."
Ooooh. Norah had an answer for this one! She raised her hand eagerly and said, "Disappointment, sir. My mum can get me to do anything if she looks disappointed enough in me. Even clean my room." She shuddered slightly. Room cleaning was NOT a subject to be taken lightly, if you asked her.
Toby didn't like this topic. He didn't like it at all.
As soon as the topic of manipulation was so much as mentioned, Tobias immediately found himself struggling to hold onto the megre degree of concentration he had in the first place. Just... manipulation, y'know? It brought up all sorts of negative feelings.
So Toby made no move to answer. He just sat there, bouncing his knee restlessly and twirling his quill, faster and faster as the lesson drew on. Occasionally he'd make the odd note of what someone had suggested, but for the most part Tobias just sat there, straight-faced and staring at the little smiley face Culloden had drawn on the board.

The LAST class of the term?! But the school year just started! ... Oh, NO. Culloden was retiring, wasn't he?! DARN. She was really starting to like him, too. Class first, though. She would send him a box of Every-flavored Beans or something later as a send off gift.
Ohh, manipulation! Sophie was going to like this class! She waved her hand in the air a little too enthusiastically. "Love," she said, "because sometimes people will do whatever their loved ones ask of them, no matter what the price."
"Also, in a strange turn, I think hate would cause manipulation, too, because some people looooove to see the enemy be put in his place!" she added.

Last lesson? But they had barely started and it wasn't even Christmas yet! Disappointed, Cris looked sadly at Professor Culloden. Determined that even though this was his last lesson, Cris decided that he would make it the best one too.
So when Professor Culloden posed his first question, Cris took his time to ponder on the question, even as he listened to the examples his fellow students shared with the class. He quickly noted down all the answers before he raised his hand.
"Professor I believe that happiness is an emotion that can be used to manipulate people. However in this sense, the manipulation isn't really such a bad thing. It's more like an influencing thing. If a person is happy, they want others around them to be happy too, right?," Cris paused as he looked at his fellow classmates. Yes a lot more happiness would make people feel a lot better about themselves.
"Look at that smiley face you drew on the blackboard. You may have done that to invoke a smile, which I have to admit I did when I saw it. It's just a natural response. Like laughter is considered contagious, so can happiness be." Cris paused to think of an example to show how that would work out.
"For example, the fact that you're in a good mood, makes us feel happy. And when we leave here happy, we could potentially pass on that happiness to our friends, or better yet, we could potentially make the next Professor happy because we're now attending their class with a happy and positive attitude."
Cosgrach shrugged to himself, checked the time and used his wand to close the door. Then, getting up, he smiled at them.
"This will also be our last class for the term, I hope you will enjoy it. Before we begin brewing, I have three questions for you." He looked at their faces as he paused briefly. In Leah's mind, a sad movie was playing. She was brewing a strengthening potion, and then she was crying because the potion master had said that their second lesson was also their last. Of course, she was not crying in real life, but was close to.
The second year had an answer in mind, but was not sure whether it was an emotion or not. "Greed." she said, raising her hand. She did not feel the need to explain it further, everyone would understand.

Last...? Last Potions.... lesson? Which meant that this was most definitely her last Potions lesson ever at Hogwarts. And she wasn't even sitting with Mo. Potions was kind of their class. And this was the LAST? Oh. Cat was suddenly very, very sad about this. Though she was trying her very best not to let it show because Sophie was near and being adorable and she needed to be a good example.
What was the question again?
"Sadness, perhaps, depression? If someone is sad, they could be talked into basically anything if someone tried, because.. they're probably not thinking about the repercussions, only feeling what they're feeling." Cat was feeling sad now. She could easily be talked into anything to do with food.
