Culloden said that if he had done everything right up until this point, it would turn white. Well, Caleb's potion wasn't BRIGHT white, but it looked pretty good. It was white at least, so that had to be good yes?

Now to add the glumbumble parts. Hehe. That was fun to say. Glumbumble. He took them all in his palm and added them in slowly, taking care not to splash the potion everywhere as he did so. Then he had to stir five times clockwise. Grabbing his wooden stirrer, he did just that. One, two, three, four, five. Done with that bit!

Maddie giggled when Mo winked at her and QUICKLY looked down at her potion, noting that he wanted her to get back to work. Aye aye, Big Buddy! She'd focus now but she was STILL worried about Kyroh. She couldn't help it. SIGH.

ANWAY, she was BEHIND now and had to quickly finish before Culloden LOCKED her in here for the night or something. First thing she needed to do was add the doxy venom.

The brunette quickly cleaned her dropper using MAGIC cause she COULD and then sucked up some of the venom, resisting the urge to let her mind think TOO much on how well the venom worked. She added ONE drop into her cauldron and then set the dropper down, watching the cauldron curiously. The smoke was COOL but she was a BIT worried it was smoking TOO much. Uh..Uh...OH GOOD, it stopped! Maddie waved her wand as instructed and then looked to see what the NEXT step was.

UM.

FROG LEG. HEH. Didn't people EAT these things in other places? Maddie eyed the one she had and wrinkled her nose. NO WAY she'd put that in her mouth. She'd just brew it in a potion and have it THAT way. Dropping it into her cauldron, she eyed the mixture and then whispered, "Gina Cooper."

Her mom was inspirational to HER, uh-huh.

That was that, then. She was ALL DONE.

Grabbing a clean vial, Maddie carefully spooned some potion in and then stoppered it. She'd need that for homework, yeah? Then she set to work tidying up her station which took a WHILE. Who knew she could make such a mess while being careful?!

Once she was DONE and notes were caught up on, the twelve year old hoisted her bag over her shoulder and headed out.

"Thanks for the lesson, Professor Culloden. Sorry Gryffindors like to test authority." Sincere, she was. She then gave a wink and headed out.

Wait-a-MINUTE?!?!?

Detention? THOSE TWO GRYFFS got *DETENTION* and Zahra lost points? It was like Professor Potions KNEW how important points were or something? SO UNCOOL. SO UNFAIR. She wanted to volunteer for DETENTION in exchange for her house points SOOOOOO BAAAAAAAAD.

But she didn't want to hang out with Lex and Kevin so.... sigh. sigh.

Everyone was whispering names or whatever, so Zahra joined in, even though she totes didn't have a POTION? hahha. SO SHE WHISPERED (not a whisper) "PROFESSOR POTIONS!" then blew a loud long RASPBERRY FART SOUND on her way out.

SEE YA. WOULDN'T WANNA BE YA.

But that wasn't even the problem. Cosgrach felt better that he'd been the first name, honestly, but... He didn't know what was wrong with him. She was the first person to find him 'inspirational', and it had an even bigger meaning because it was her.

"Sure you will be perfect, silly me," he said in a hopefully-joking tone, and stole a glance from her before he busied himself with organising his almost empty table.

"Thank you." His tone came out way softer than he'd intended, but... he looked into her eyes, then, and smiled. The class was almost empty, so it was alright that they were emotional and stuff.



...did she really... wink at him?

Gaping after her for a moment, his anger at Kevin was completely forgotten in shock. She... wasn't... bahahahaha! Ravenclaw first years! Ballsy funny things!



............and was she still questioning the POINT LOSS? She was LUCKY that wasn't FIFTY!

He dramatically sighed after her, shook his head to himself, and proceeded to lock the classroom.

Once he was back from dinner, there was going to be WAR.

Kevin Hirase's detention RP starts from here.

This was stupid, why was HE the one getting a detention and not those stupid students who had asked if they could hit him huh? Why was he even here? For speaking the TRUTH that was why!

Before dinner, the Gryffindor had taken a quick shower because he had the feeling he would be staying up late and now with his stomach full with food and even a few sandwiches in his school bag, Kevin checked his watch as he made his way to his doom.

He had two minutes left but he wasn't worrying about getting late, he was worrying more about being in the same room with that crazy Professor...alone. Reaching the classroom, the boy took a deep breath now that he still could and entered.

The second year's eyes widened at the sight in front of him. The place was a MESS. Scratch that, it looked like the Professor had dropped an exploding potion in the room! And he had to clean THAT?! nuhuh! Mouth open in a silent gasp, Kevin regretted doing that because an overwhelming feeling of nauseousness went through him. He gagged and tears started to form in his eyes. Luckily, he had a strong stomach.

He entered the room completely , seeing the Professor sitting on one of the desks with a dangerous look on his face and Kevin actually gulped. He tried to look like he wasn't intimitated by him and stepped further .......only to slip and fall backwards.

Now there was something different about Kevin. The number of times he had been pushed around and tackled by the neighbourhood's kids as a kid was so many times that he actually had a sense of how to fall without hurting himself. So when he fell backwards, he made sure to land on his shoulder and didn't use his hands to support the fall. He took a deep breath which he regretted immediately and his eyes searched for the Professor, glaring at him.

"ARE YOU CRAZY?!" and the most important part... "I just showered!" AND WHAT WAS THAT DISGUSTING STICKY STUFF? no wait...he didn't think he wanted to know...

Cosgrach was watching him closely through slightly narrowed eyes, and he gauged every reaction.

First, Kevin was overwhelmed. A gasp escaped from his mouth.

The odour hit him, and his eyes watered with the terrible sensation. He didn't vomit, though. Good. Because he KNEW HE would clean that, right?

He saw him, at last, and gulped possibly because of the M A D written across his face. He was MAD.

And he fell.

Cosgrach's lips twitched in amusement. He was past the point of being worried for the kid, who got up soon enough anyway.

"I've only done what you did, Kevin," he coolly said, "I've had several accidents while trying to clean up, just like you had during class." He paused very briefly, not enough to let the boy interrupt.

"Accidents happen accidentally. Yelling at people and being a disrespectful brat don't. Spell or the muggle way, you are responsible of cleaning this room. I can reassure you, plain 'scourgify' and 'tergeo' won't clean it all." He'd also seen to that. "The broom is there." He pointed at the far end of the blackboard. There stood a muggle broom for cleaning. Beside it was its bucket and muggle detergents. There weren't any cleaning potions, though.

"If you behave, learn to keep silent and apologise from Alexa," he said, "I might help you." Because, did he hear the part simple cleaning charms wouldn't work? He'd need professional help. "Otherwise, I live here. I have all the night." Meaning, he would spend his night here, scrubbing.

He had several accidents while cleaning up? The boy let out a mocking laugh while he looked around. These were NOT accidents. The Headmistress wouldn't even have hired the man if she knew that he was this messy. He opened his mouth to call the Professor a liar but before he could say anything the Professor talked further.

Slowly getting up from the ground as he listened, the potion sliding off of his uniform as he stood up and falling to the ground, Kevin narrowed his eyes when the man had called him a brat. "I'm not a brat...you are" wow, amazing come back Kev.

His heterochromia hazel and dark brown colored eyes followed the finger pointing towards the broom at the end of the blackboard. Wait...he was SERIOUS about him having to clean this room without those only two cleaning spells that he knew?! Bellaire had been right. The punishments at this school were far worse than just simply writing lines...

"Why do I have to apologise?" he asked. "She's the one who jinxed me!" see how unfair this whole thing was?

Holding his arms straight at his side and having his hands balled in to fists, the young Gryffindor didn't even wait for the reply and walked towards the broom. Or...at least he TRIED. The process of walking through the sticky potions all over the floor was very difficult and a scowl never left his face as he dragged his shoes through the room. He concindered himself lucky the man hadn't vanished his shoes....wait, he couldn't read minds right? O_o

Finally, after at least a minute, the boy was at the broom and lowered down to grab the bucket and muggle detergents. He looked at them, confusion all over his face as he held up one of the bottles. How on earth was he supposed to do this?! "But....I'm a Pureblood! I've never cleaned using these muggle stuff!" Well, the man had said that he could use magic right?

So the Gryffindor placed the bucket back down on the floor and looked around. Seriously? Where was he supposed to begin? Grabbing his Phoenix Feather wand out of his wrist hoslter, the twelve year old began to fill the bucket with water with an "Aguamenti" spell and while he waited for it to fill up, he looked at the glass scattered all over the floor "You even put GLASS over the floor? what is wrong with you?" oh right...language. "I am SO sorry for that". Using Finite, Kevin looked at the Professor.

"Uhm..." he began because he was torn between keeping his pride and asking for help. "Which...bottle do i use for the floor?" should he do his puppy eyes? Nah, he wouldn't go that low.

...a mocking laughter???

...'brat'?????!!!!

Cosgrach bit his lower lip, because if he didn't, he would yell. And yelling was bad, see? His blood pressure would rise. He wasn't so young anymore. He didn't want to have a headache and who knew what else because of this piece of brat.

Then he remembered Seren's idea: A different approach. And a different approach at this moment meant being amiable with the boy. Ignoring Kevin's stupid question about apologising, as he would make SURE the boy apologised, Cosgrach tried to imagine it: Kevin would probably be so surprised he'd lose his composure and fall again. If he continued the attitude, the boy'd probably search for some hidden meanings and menace. Haha. That was worth seeing - how he coped with 'a different aproach' and how much suspicious he got. After all, that was what Cosgrach lived for: surprises and drama. He loved exaggerated reactions and doing the unexpected. Well, this was the most unexpected. And if the boy even DARED calling him 'crazy'! A cruel smirk crossed his face while Kevin was examining the broom and detergents. He was going to do that. Being amiable. Because it was win for him either way: if it worked, Kevin would hopefully learn from him; if it failed, he could go tell Seren moredrastic measures had to be taken. He would also have his good ol' fun in both cases. How come HE couldn't think about it?

"Actually, let me help you with it," he said in a completely normal, if not amiable, tone as he got up. Now that he had decided, he'd already begun feeling friendlier towards him. And anyway, he was a PRO at faking expressions and managing his tone. Kevin wouldn't even SUSPECT. Walking towards him carefully, he shrugged, totally nonchalant to his tone whatsoever. "I was mad at you, see, but all's passed now. I regret that I've had a few accidents with vials, but it's nothing I can't fix quickly." To prove his point, he drew his wand, muttered under his breath and after a few wand movements, the glass had fixed itself and the vials stood on his desk.

"The bottle for the floor? It's the blue one, there." He smiled a little. Being SOOOO NICEEEEE.

It was these kind of reactions that were funny. The biting of the lower lip and trying to hold in his anger. Because Kevin wasn't stupid. He KNEW that he was making the Professor angry. But when nothing else happpened he shrugged his shoulders and brought his attention back to the bucket.

Using Finite, the second year stopped the Aguamenti charm and looked back at the Professor when he began to walk towards him. He narrowed his eyes suspiciously, holding his arm by his side and ready to draw his wand and either defend or attack. 'Cause after his duel with the Astronomy Professor he had learned quite a few spells.. but then.....He...what? He was offering to ...help?

Kevin send a look of suprise his way but didn't say anything. Instead, he watched with a fascinated expression on his face as the glass around them fixed together again in to little vials. "That is...." he began. "So cool! How did you do that?!" There was no sarcasm in his voice. Just real curiousity.

Oh right...the bottles. Kevin grabbed the blue one and opened it up with his hand and smelled it. "Bleeeugh!" chemical stuff was disgusting. Wait...it wasn't dangerous right? Pouring a bit of the liquid in to the bucket of water, Kevin then placed the bottle back down and when he looked back at the Professor...he got suspicious again.

It hadn't been the friendly tone that had freaked him out. Okay a bit. But when the man SMILED at him, Kevin was seriously questioning his sanity. "Did you slip and hit your head while trashing this place?" he asked. "Or accidentally drank some …what’s it called?..." Kevin thought, scratching his neck as he did so. “Euphoria Elixer?..yeah!” Cause he was confused with this sudden change of character.

The Gryffindor grabbed the broom against the blackboard and the bucket with his other hand before walking to the back of the room. There was no way he was standing near him now. Besides, if he began at the back and worked his way to the front he would finish at the door and could dash out.

“I’ll…i’ll begin here” Nope, he had not stuttered. NOPE!

Oh - look! The first sign of surprise! And - will you believe that - the boy was fascinated. For realz. Cosgrach noted these changes smugly, and went on in the friendly tone: "A lot of practice and a few cool spells," he said casually - as if to suggest that he could do it as well.

Cosgrach wanted to snap and say the smell wasn't terrible, but held himself back. Instead... he laughed a little in a positive manner.

"No, Kevin," he said, "This is my usual demeanour when I'm working with a student." 'with', see? They were going to work TOGETHER and clean this class, see?

Ehehehe...

"Alright," Cosgrach said, acting as if the boy hadn't just stuttered, "then I can begin from here and we can clean here quickly."

Then, to prove his point, he summoned another broom from his store room and charmed it in a foreign language to start sucking the water/potion mixture on the floors and squeezing itself over one of the buckets.

A lot of practise and a few cool spells? Was he serious? Just THAT? "I figured that out, but i meant , what's it called? The spell , i want to learn it!" Contrary to believe, Kevin WAS interested in learning new things. "I had a duel with Crazy Space Man...I MEAN, Flamsteed once and i learned some attacking spells, pretty cool right?"

Kevin's cheeks turned slightly red when he realised that he was having an ACTUAL conversation with his most disliked Professor. It was all HIS fault! HE started being friendly to him and it had made him so confused that he actually started talking to him. Ewww.

Kevin was kind of used to the sticky ground by now as well as the aweful smell that lingered. He didn't want to know how he would smell if he came back to the Dormitory. So he made a mental note to shower first...again...

So dipping the broom/mop thingy in to the bucket with the solution, Kevin started to sweep. He had just done the corner when he turned around and saw that the Professor started to clean as well.

If he had been confused before he was even more confused now.

"You're....really helping me? After ALL i've done?!" Was there something behind this? Kevin started to suspect there was. Because a few hours ago he could have sworn the man had wanted to kill him but now...? THIS WAS SO CONFUSING!

"I mean....i thought...you hated me?" Or at least disliked him. If Kevin disliked someone he wasn't going to help them out. Also, the boy was bored with sweeping already and wanted to clean the working stations. "Can i use the solution from the bucket on the tables?" you know, for scrubbing.

'Crazy space man'? Cosgrach couldn't hide his snicker and briefly wondered if Kevin called AIREY that. Probably yes. And how did Airey react? Hmm. He had to ask the man and see what HE thought. But, if they had a duel, Airey must think Kevin was a great kid. Hmmmmmm.

"It's a combination of a few spells. I can... show you after we clean this classroom." Yeah? See how THAT would go. If Airey could handle a duel with Kevin, Cosgrach would be a PRO. Acting oblivious to the flushing of his cheeks, he said "That's nice of Airey to teach you a few tricks." The man wasn't even a DADA professor - but then again, he dated the beautiful Medea, didn't he? Hehe. She must have taught him a few tricks too. Hehehe.

Ooooh, confessions, confessions! Cosgrach looked innocently at Kevin. "See, you have admitted you were wrong," he said and shrugged, "that was all I was looking for." And he meant it. That was all he was looking for, really.

"I don't hate you, Kevin. I just think that we misunderstood each other since the beginning." Another true opinion. Though, maybe, he did dislike him to a great extent once. Still. Though that 'great dislike' was beginning to dwindle... hopefully.

"You can, yeah. Though 'scourgify' and 'tergeo' should clean the tables effectively." His broom was still working, sucking whatever the liquid was on the floor, so he sat down and watched Kevin. Another ten minutes, and they would probably be done.

This detention was so bad. Kevin had pictured it a lot worse before he came here. He still wasn't over the fact that the Professor was being nice to him though. That part still freaked him out a bit. But, if he had to admit, it was better than him yelling at him...

The Gryffindor nodded his head when he told him he could learn a new spell and then chuckled lightly when he mentioned Flamsteed being nice to teach him a few tricks. "Aaaactually" he said. "He didn't really teach me stuff, but i plan to learn the spells he had used" he was especially interested in that Tarantallegra spell. "It was more of a revenge thing" he shrugged. "Because he had attacked me last year"and before the Professor did not believe him, like a lot of other students, he held his hands up. "No lie!"see, no crossed fingers.

Woah...woahwoahwoah! He had NOT admitted that he had been wrong! He hadn't right? Or had he? Trying to remember what he had said, Kevin groaned a little bit when he realised that he HAD admitted he had been wrong. "AWW man, i hate admitting to things...so be happy okay?" He was back to his rude tone but it was also clear in his voice that he wasn't angry.

Taking out his wand, the Gryffindor pointed it at the first working station at the back of the room and waved it. "Scourgify" he said. The table cleaned itself and for a nth time being at Hogwarts he thought that magic was so cool. And so much better than having to clean with his hands...

Done with the first table, Kevin walked to the next one and waved his wand again but then stopped in midair. Sparks flew out of the wand hit the ceiling causing a small explosion but Kevin hadn’t even realised this that was how shocked he was "You DON'T hate me?" What was this game he was playing?!

Feeling dust dropping down on his head and shoulders, he looked up to see the small hole in the ceiling. “I DIDN’T MEAN TO DO THAT!” He shouted apologetically. He wasn’t angry again right? Because Kevin felt better when people weren’t angry with him. Basically everyone was. He loved doing pranks but getting in to real fights was not something that he liked.

Not knowing how to repare the ceiling, the Gryffindor was a bit awkward in his movements when he turned back to the table. He waved his wand and used the scourgify spell to clean up the table as well as the ceiling dust that had dropped on it.

“I don’t hate you either…” he mumbled as he was now using Tergeo. “I….actually like your classes and I hope to get my potioneer license one day..just like my mom” They could be making a family company and brew new potions and stuff and sell them... that was his dream for now.

After a few minutes, Kevin was done cleaning all the tables and now made his way to the door. At first, he had wanted to run out the moment he was done cleaning the tables but now he actually didn't mind being in the same room with the Professor now that they weren't at each other's throats.

Picking up the rubbish bin , Kevin waved his wand at the rubbish, used "Wingardium Leviosa" and after a third try he was succesful in levitating the rubbish back in to the bin.

Cosgrach raised his eyebrows at Kevin. He would really go research those spells? He? This Kevin? Oooo-kay. Cosgrach also didn't try to hide his surprise when Kevin said Airey attacked him, but he was less surprised this time: Airey seemed to be that kind of person, and Cosgrach was sure Kevin had deserved the attack.

"Good luck," he said, "could you get your revenge, then?" Sounded like not really, but maybe he used a spell Airey wasn't expecting. Miracles happened in this world.

'be happy okay...'??? "Okay." He tried to hide his smirk. Oh, he was happy. Very happy with this arrangement, indeed.

AWWW YEAHHH the surprise! The reactions! The accidental sparks! These were the things Cosgrach loved the most, and although he did his best to hide the pleasure, he was so very PLEASED.

"Don't worry," he said calmly and fixed the ceiling with a silent 'reparo' -

..........."You do?" Like his classes? What, even? Cosgrach GAPED at the boy. Not only that, but also his mother was a potioneer AND he WANTED TO be that. Cosgrach could understand it if he didn't hate him - because surely he wasn't a despisable man no matter what he did? - but...

More gaping. Much more of it. He let the boy do what he wanted to do while he distractedly vanished those slippery ingredients in front of the door, as well as the contents of the rubbish bin. Once they were both done, the broom was also finished with sucking the liquid. There was only that odour bottle left and the general cleaning of the floors with a strong magical cleaning product. For now, though, he got up to his feet and walked to Kevin before the boy could do something else.

"If, y'know, you agree to behave and I can maybepossiblyIdon'tknow be more open to listening to you, we could... end the dispute and learn from each other."

He forced himself to look into his eyes, but what he felt? This was a w k w a r d.

The raised eyebrows. Why did nearly all authority raise their eyebrows at him when he mentioned research?! "Why are you all doing that? Bentley did the same when i told her i wanted to be in the workshop lesson. Is it THAT hard to believe i actually LIKE learning new things..geez" Yes, he hated homework but that wasn't the same.

Kevin ignored the good luck part, he didn't need good luck anyways. "Not really, he used counter-spells a lot" and he wasn't even gonna talk about the magical birds attacking him...ahem... "I did managed to catch him off guard by hitting him with a dummy...that had been awesome!"

Don't worry.....did he REALLY say don't worry? WHAT THE?! "Why aren't you angry? Why were you angry at me in class when i dropped the vial by accident but say "don't worry" when i accidentally blow a hole in the ceiling?" seriously...he REALLY hadn't hit his head?

Levitating the last bit of rubbish off of the floor and in to the rubbish bin, Kevin looked around the room and smiled a little at how clean it already was. Much better.

And then his attention was back to the Professor and he wanted to laugh out loud.

Actually , he did laugh. "Aww man i wished i had a mirror so you could see your face right now!" bwahahaha. This had been even funnier than making the man angry. "You seem REALLY surprised" he grinned. "But yeah, i do, is that SO weird?" he had rolled his eyes now and folded his arms. But because he had looked surprised that meant that Bentley had kept her word not to say anything to the Potions Professor that he liked his subject.

Now that the room was clean and didn't smell like a dungbomb had dropped in it, Kevin grabbed his school bag and hoisted it over his shoulders. Getting ready to go to the showers in the Gryffindor dormitory. But before he could make a step, the Professor had already walked to him.

".......Maybe possibly i don't know?" he mocked. "Well, i can't promise to be nice...i hate being nice its for weak people buuut..." The Gryffindor looked anywhere BUT the Professor because this was awkward. "I ....can try" he shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly as he too forced himself to look at the Professor. But immediately felt awkward and his gaze traveled to the desks. Interesting things weren't they? desks....

"Can i go now?" he asked, wanting to get some sleep before he had to get up early for the first class. "Oh wait, i forgot. Can i brew a more advanced potion in the lab? The basics are so boring"

"Actually, yes. You just aren't the type to want to learn new things." Unless they were prank. But Cosgrach shrugged. What did he know about the boy? Nothing, according to Bentley. He wanted to roll his eyes, but that would look bad, so he just focused on what else KEvin said. Oh, Airey had the decency not to attack. How nice of him.

"Well done, I suppose." What else could he say? Well done, indeed, for hitting Airey. Hehe.

...oh. That. The shock, again. Cosgrach just LOVED this. How come he hadn't tried this path before?

"Like I said, Kevin, I've decided to change my attitude and hope yours will change, as well." Was it too much to hope for? Especially if Airey could be cool beans and play with him whereas Kevin hated Cosgrach? It shouldn't be HARD if Airey could do it. Nah.

"I suppose not, no," he muttered thoughtfully, though it WAS surprising to hear that he has the patience for brewing, to begin with. Did he realise the qualities this path required? The patience, the wits, the courage? Cosgrach doubted, and Kevin was still young. Surely his opinion would change a million times.

...Kevin MOCKED him!

After he had been SO nice to him and even cleaned the classroom with him, he had the gut to MOCK him!

Cosgrach's eyes flickered RED with anger for a very short time until he controlled himself and was that sweet man again.

Oh, he could try now, could he? Well, no, thanks. This was over. He had one chance, and he'd ruined it by mocking him. And what was THAT even - being nice was for the weak? Haha. HAHAHA. What was this, then, the new stupid teenager trend? Well, you know what? Cosgrach wasn't weak either.

Mocking him... this brat would see.

So, nodding only at the 'I can try.' thing, he said "Sure, you can go - and if you explode anything, you fix it." Oh, his tone was still friendly! Oh, no, he was too professional to show his feelings now. What he would do was... well, Kevin would see.

Those words.....had actually hurt and the boy looked like he had been slapped for a second. His eyes then narrowed slightly and he had the sudden desire to prove the man wrong. "Well, you're wrong. I like learning new things....yeah ok most of the time its for my own benefit and not for like homework...." he made a face at the word homework "but it IS learning!" HMPF! What did he know anyways?

Right. He had decided to change his attitude towards him. And he was hoping his would change towards him as well? HEH ...maybe...he could try.

Completely oblivious to the Professor's eyes flickering with anger because he was busy zipping up his bag he realised was open a bit. Kevin had not even realised he had mocked him. It was a natural reaction to him and half of the time he didn't even knew he was doing it.

Ooooh! Explode anything. That reminded him that he still had that Explosion Potion. He really needed to find a place to use it. But where though? He would think about that in bed if he couldn't sleep. It needed to be epically dramatic. Grinning to himself, Kevin turned around but before he walked through the door he looked back.

"Thanks for helping, Professor" And he left, grinning even wider because he knew that this was the first time he had said a thank you AND had called him Professor. That had to confuse the man , hopefully... MWUAHAHAHA

Well, for his benefit or not: Kevin had successfully lost all the respect Cosgrach had for him, so it didn't matter what he liked to do.
