Soooooo the lesson had started off as a weird one what with the smiley face and all and now look what happened. Culloden didn't look as happy as he had started off the lesson. What an interesting turn of events. Grayson glanced down at his watch. Uh huh. Very interesting. And the drama causing kid couldn't speak. Not properly. Having not seen the hexing, Grayson shrugged it off and, instead, turned his attention over towards the next set of instructions. He didn't care, he had a manipulating potion to finish. Speaking of the potion, Fwooper voice chords? That was freaking weird. Grabbing the half a Fwooper's voice chords, the fourth year added it to his potion. He then pulled out his wand and waved it over the cauldron. Simple. And now we wait. Text Cut: Journal |
Well the drama seemed to be ending now and Nigel's fully attention went back to his potion. Which has not exploded or turned any weird. Good signs from his experience. Which was not that much in the potions field. He past his OWL. That was about it. Fwooper chords added and he waved his wand. Waving your wand just cause is fun on occasion. |
After Kace added all of his ingredients, he noticed the professor moved on. He squinted at the blackboard and noticed a step was written. If his potion turned bright white he had to add something parts. It began with a G...he looked at his notes and realized it was Glumbumble parts. That was a funny name for a creature. He smirked and his potion did turn white and he added the parts to the potion very carefully. Now he got his wooden spoon and stirred five times clockwise. 1...2...3...4...5 he counted in his head. Once that was done, he waited till he saw another step. Man this professor wasn't kidding around with moving on. He squinted at the board again and saw he needed to add voice chords. Man all these creatures had weird names. He got his fwooper voice cords and added them in. He next got his wand out of his robes and waved his wand. |
The babies were all sorts of drama today, and it took Mo's attention away from his potion. WHICH WAS TERRIBLE, really, because he was trying really hard not to screw this potion up. Much as Mo liked Culloden, he really wanted the man to have a penchant for silencing charms. Yeah... Mo would follow a professor to the ends of the earth if he was willing to silence kids in class every time they were distracting. Speaking of losing focus... what was that next step? Mo leaned back over his cauldron to check on the color. It was sort of a dirty off-white at first, although the potion seemed to be lightening and brightening, and he ignored it for the moment as he focused on re-cleaning his stirrer. When he checked again, it was definitely white. Bright white? How bright? It didn't hurt his eyes or leave an after-image, but it was very VERY white. Probably as good as it gets. Mo dumped the glumbumble parts carefully into the cauldron, trying his best not to splash back any potion onto his gloves or the tabletop. It didn't matter how many times he worried over it and checked it, Mo still had to look at the directions on the board several times before he dipped the wooden stirrer into the cauldron and stirred the potion clockwise. Five times. JUST LIKE THE DIRECTIONS SAY. And the babies were being distracting again, and Mo seated himself heavily at his desk and propped his chin on his hand. Could they move on? Please? Stop being crazy babies and calling each other names and making Culloden's face go all purple? Could they, please? He did perk up at the next instruction, although the almost defeated way in which it was delivered was disheartening. Fwooper voice chords...? Which bowl had he...? Mo checked over the tabletop before grabbing up the correct bowl and dropping in the voice chords. Gross, though. There were parts of animals that Mo would rather not see or imagine, and that seemed like one of them. Distractedly, Mo gave a wave of his wand and then glanced at the cauldron again. Anything new and exciting? |
SPOILER!!: Kyroh and Sophhhhhh Toby knew from experience that when people were upset (especially when they looked like they were trying not to be) it was usually a good idea to pretend like you didn't notice it when you tried to make them feel better. Before he could say anything, Culloden had given them their next lot of instructions for the potion, so Toby quickly tried to follow them before anything else. His potion WAS bright white, which was obviously what they were going for, so the Hufflepuff added glumbumble parts (grimacing slightly as he did so), cleaned his wooden stirrer again, and stirred it five times clockwise. And then Sophie was there, being all nice to Kyroh, and Toby was reminded of just why he liked her so much. He beamed at her hair ruffle even as she walked away, and looked down at his little 'Claw companion. "See? Soph thinks you're cool, too. And she knows what she's talking about," he nodded seriously, because it was totally true. "She picked me as her bestie, so she totally knows cool when she sees it." Toby puffed out his chest in an overly dramatic way to show he was just joking and messing about. Sort of. Because he wasn't THAT cool, but he and Soph WERE besties, soooooooooooooooo... Oh, yeah, right. Okay, next step. Fwooper vocal chords (more grimacing from Toby) went into the cauldron, and the fifteen year old waved his wand. They should be nearly done; there were only a couple more ingredients left to go in. |
Awesome some very easy steps after such a hard one was a great way to fix his day. He added this step to his notes. Quote:
Bay added his fwooper voice chords trying not to make a mess and not allowing them to splash in the cauldron he added them slowly as he then took out his wand wand waved it as instructed.. he hoped he was waving it the correct way because he wasn't told other wise. nervous he put his wand away and peeked into his cauldron hoping nothing bad was happening.. it wasn't like he would know if anything was going wrong anyways because this was his first time making the potion. *crossing his fingers* he really hoped he was doing okay. Now to add the hippogriff feathers. There were ten of them and he had to add them one by one. Did he have to wait until they like...sunk into the potion or could he just drop in each one? He decided to let each one soak in a bit before adding the next one. That seemed like his best bet. One, two, three...this kept going until he got all ten of them in. Then he had to COUNT to ten - did he count ten MISSISSIPPI? Or Mississippi-lessly? He went without the Mississippi. Just a little slower. Once he had counted to ten, he stirred the potion once counter clockwise. Now he had to count to TWENTY and go the other way...so after he counted to twenty, he did just that and stirred it once clockwise. Finally, thirty more seconds of counting, and then he stirred it once counter clockwise. THAT was confusing but he did it. YAYYY! |
More yelling? Seriously? Rolling her eyes, Lux decided to drown it out because it was getting tiring really fast. The drama wasn't so much the issue, as was the fact that her eardrums were starting to hurt. Fortunately she had another step to complete for her potion. Down it went in her notes: SPOILER!!: Lux's Notes PLOP! went the voice chords into her cauldron. She had tried her best not to cause splash back, as she didn't think Professor Culloden would like her getting potion all over her clothes and work area. And more wand movements? Not really understanding the significance of waving her wand, she picked hers up and did just that. There. Another step done and ready to be crossed off. SPOILER!!: Lux's Notes From the look of things, she was almost done! |
Declan eyed his cauldron lazily, waiting for the brew to change into the color the professor said it should be. THERE! It was turning white. Good, good. good. Now he can add the glumbumble parts. In you go...PLOP! Now turn clockwise five times. He wielded his clean wooden spoon and began to stir. One... Two... Three... Four... FIVE... There it's stirred. Now the fwooper voice chords. Plop! SPOILER!!: Notes! |
Text Cut: Kyroh, Tobes, TGO, Z Soph smiled to herself, tuned into Toby and Kyroh's conversation even after she went and sat back down. She was certain there was pride in Toby's voice as he declared that the two of them were besties, and she wanted to go give Tobes a big ol' hug for being so sweet, but she refrained. There was a potion to brew and a Culloden to impress. Slipping her clean gloves back on, she examined her half of the Fwooper vocal chord out of curiosity. This was the strangest ingredient of the potion for sure and she wasn't sure if she'd ever see it again, but after a a moment of taking in how cool it was, she added it to her cauldron and removed a glove to wave her wand over the potion. ........Was Zahra trying to get her revenge and blow up the whole potions classroom now? |
... what.......... was going ON? Some Gryffindor was mouthing off to the Professor and Kyroh asked a question and Aunt (or not REALLY but Dima still liked calling her so) Zahra was YELLING at him for it and then she was in trouble and was Kyroh CRYING and why was he too far away for hugs? The first year would have gotten up and moved over to his friend for cheering up reasons if Yearbook Protector Toby person and that girl who was Culloden's favorite hadn't gotten there first. But he could still have hugs AFTER, ok? Ok. Maddie hugs TOO. 'Cause Kyroh so obviously needed them. For the time being, he tried to focus on brewing his potion. It looked white-y, fairly bright- that meant he had done it right, yeah? Per the Potions Master's instructions, he added the glumbumble parts and, after giving his wooden stick a cleaning with that handy charm, lowered it into his cauldron as well. Dima gave the whole mixture a good stir in a clockwise direction, then repeated the step five times. After that was done, he pulled out the stirrer again and set it on his napkin. Yeah. STAY THERE, STICK. 'Til he needed it again. Please? The Fwooper voice chords went in next as the little Ravenclaw TRIED not to think about how they were obtained or if there was a sad, voiceless little Fwooper lying somewhere 'cause of HIM. But at least they were in the cauldron now. Subsequently, Dima went and gave his wand a REALLY BIG WA- .... did Lex just... just CAST SOMETHING at that kid? Sure it was soundless, but he had EYES. "What... did you just do?" Text Cut: Notes |
Steps: 6 & 7 Cutty carefully notes the social divisions created by the kerfuffle for later use and proceeded with his potions brewing. Where was he? Wand use would be involved. Right. The Slytherin made sure he kept that handy by removing it from his robes pocket and placing it beside his cauldron. He shifted the contents of the catch bowl lightly once more noting the look of grated unicorn horn the sheeny way he caught the light. Casually, the boy tilted the bowl and watched as the substance fell in like heavy sugar with a liquidy swooping noise. He placed the bowl down to the left side of his cauldron and lifted his wand. Holding the aspen instrument above his cauldron, Cutty drew an arrow making sure the pointing end was facing toward the right. He found it interesting the reasons why. The potion reacted on it's own time, gradually lightening until it looked a shade of parchment, then tusk, egg, and eventually a sort of phosphorescent craft glue. That seemed to Cutty bright enough and after a careful sniffing and poking of the glumbumble parts they soon followed the unicorn horn before them. Cutty put down his wand in favour of taking a wood stirrer to the potion one, two, three, four, five times in a clockwise motion. Text Cut: Cutty's Notes |
Maddie was MAD. She didn't often get mad because truth be told, the first year just really didn't care about other people's drama. Or NORMALLY she didn't care. This time she DID because Kyroh, her FRECKLES, was sad. He looked SO sad and he'd gone and made HER care about HIM cause they were ALLIES and now she was MAD at this Gryffindor person for being a BIG MEANY McMEANERSON. Grr. She wished she was a Slytherin at times like these so she could HISSSSSSSS at the girl but she was an Eagle and she didn't KNOW how to do those whistling sound things THEY made. PLUS they weren't as threatening. She WOULD see Kyroh later, though. Maybe give him a COOKIE cause cookies helped. YES. ANYWAY. She really needed to concentrate cause she saw Pretty Mo watching over the little claws like some mother eagle and she didn't want him getting all upset with her cause she was getting distracted by the drama llamas. Had to stay on the buddy's good side, y'know? Yeah. Fwooper voice chords. UH. Maddie wasn't squeamish or anything but there were certain parts of the body she wasn't curious about and voice chords were one of those parts. The small brunette wrinkled her nose as she carefully picked up the container that held them and dropped them into her cauldron. Then she cleaned the container and set it aside. Nooooow she just had to wave her wand. Waaaaaaaaaaaaave of the wand, yes. Was that good? ...Was Kyroh okay yet? |
WHATWASGOINGON? They were shouting at each other. Loud. People were LOUD. And what's Kyroh mean by the older kids said they don't like Gryffindors? She never heard that before. Was Gryffindors were that bad? Candice wanted to make a comment at that but she didn't want to make another drama. And she hoped that Kyroh was okay because he looked so sad. Hang in there, Kyroh. Back to the potion. She just gonna focus to her potion. Yeah. She already messed up her potion and she didn't want to make another mistake. If the colour has turned bright white, add glumbumble parts. Yup, her potion was already turned bright white. Glumbumble parts, in you go. The first year grabbed her wooden stirrer and stirred her potion five times clockwise. There done. Fwooper voice chords. Yikes. Another body parts. But at least this time its not a heart. She added that as well into her cauldron and waved her wand. What's next? |
Mentioning Kevin too Text Cut: Zahra and Kevin He wasn't angry, no, but his initial enthusiasm was clearly gone. He just wanted to get over with this class, and he announced the next step in a monotone voice: "Add one drop of doxy venom. It should smoke for a few seconds. Wave your wand again once it stops smoking." At least, no one had messed the previous step up, except for that girl, who was... Well. Quote:

..........Zahra HEAVED A HUGE, GIANT LOUD AND LONG SIGH. The very, very uncool Professor STOLE HER POTION. He stole her WAND. The worst was him STEALING HER POINTS though. Who caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaared about the cauldron? He'd said this was the last class of the term ANYWAY. Besides, it was pretty cool, the melty bottom and all. Since she was APPARENTLY DONE with her potion and wand waving, Zahra got up on her stool, knees first, and FULLY INSPECTED the melty bottom cauldron. .... cool. She used a quill to write her initials in the MELTY CAULDRON before it cooled too much. |
So much was going on at this point that it was pretty hard to keep up. He almost felt bad for Zahra, but then again she did take a big bite out of his arm and called him a Hufflepuff. So then again, he didn't fee TOO bad for her. She brought it upon herself really. Culloden didn't really have any sympathy. She should've just shut her mouth after points were taken away yep. But he was still glad that the girl stood up for Gryffindor house. But that was it. As for the next step, Zander looked around his table for the doxy venom. Where'd he put that again? AHA! He dropped a tinsy bit into his cauldron. AND WOO, smoke. He completely forgot that part and his face got a good bit of smoke. After a giant coughing fit and a bunch of *blinks* Zander noticed the smoke stopped. He waved his wand around and then waited for further instructions. |
GULP!!....another potion taken. Cris hated to admit it but this class was interesting albeit disruptive and chaotic. The Professor wasn't messing around today. But Cris couldn't blame him. Sure there would be mistakes that needed to be corrected but seriously the amount of voice raising there was today, Cris was amazed that more students hadn't been given detention. Next step coming up. They were supposed to add the doxy venom. Cris quickly added the following steps into his journal. Text Cut: Cris' Journal Once he had completed his note taking, Cris turned to his potions kit and located the doxy venom container. Pulling out a dropper, he first magically cleaned it before removing the lid of the doxy venom container and siphoning out one drop of the venom. Then he carefully moved the dropper over to his cauldron before releasing the venom into his potion. The second the drop immersed into the potion, his mixture began to smoke....as informed it would be. He waited a few seconds for the smoking to cease before picking up his wand and waving it once over the cauldron. Having completed the desired steps, Cris scratched out the steps in his journal. Doxy venom, doxy venom, who got the doxy venom? Toby looked around at his slightly disordered worktop, looking for this penultimate ingredient. He found it hiding around the back of his cauldron, and held up the bottle up to his eye level. Hmm, might be a good idea to get a refill of this when he was home for Christmas, for when he practiced potions in the lab. But there was enough for today, so Tobias uncapped it and added one solitary drop to his potion. He leaned back away from the smoke and recapped the doxy venom, trying not to breathe in too much. Once the smoke was gone, Toby set the little bottle back on his desk and grabbed up his wand, before waving it over the potion. While he waited for the next step, Toby started to clean up as much as he could, putting the other ingredients back into his potions kit and putting everything else aside, ready for cleaning. Because, y'know, KEEPING BUSY. |
Well done, Gryffindor girl. Well done. She'd managed to keep the class entertained while also self-sabotaging her own house. This was perfect. Now if the Hufflepuffs would just join in on the chaos, things would be coming along just fine. Sophie glanced up at Culloden then looked back down with a grin. He looked like he was having a bad day. This made the class even more amusing. With any luck, Sophie would head back to the common room after class feeling like the entire school, save for her and her princess self, had had a bad day. Sophie cleaned her dropper then collected a single drop of doxy venom. She added that into the cauldron. Things started smoking, and when they stopped, she waved her wand again. |
More goings on in Potions class. Jasmine couldn't help but look this time as the Gryffindor girl managed to melt her cauldron. Now that took some serious talent. At least things had quieted down and for that Jasmine was thankful. As the Professor wrote the next step on the board, Jasmine quickly copied down the information. It was time to add the doxy venom and she looked around her work station until she found hers. Also picking up her dropper, Jasmine took a moment to clean it. That was one of the items that she hadn't cleaned beforehand. Once the dropper was clean, Jasmine opened her container of doxy venom and extracted one drop. Moving closer to her cauldron, she squeezed the dropper to release the venom into her potion. Stepping back just in time, her potion began to smoke. When the smoke had cleared, Jasmine waved her wand as instructed. Were they almost done now? She sure hoped so because this class had been exhausting. |
One drop of doxy venom coming right up! If he could find his dropper...Adi rummaged through his potions kit. It had to be in there somewhere. Aha! Got it. He retrieved it and performed Scourgify. He got preciously on drop of the venom and added it to the cauldron. The Puffer stood back and watched as it started to smoke. Moments later, the smoke cleared and he waved his wand. What's next, Professor? |
Awww man, after all of the dramatics the cauldron didn't even blow up. Maybe it could have if the professor hadn't been all adult like and stopped the madness. Oh well, there was always next time. AJ tried to crane her neck to see the remains of the cauldron, but it was no luck because the girl was too far away. Turning her attention back to her own potion she added one drop of doxy venom. It immediately started to smoke, and she waited not so patiently for it to quit. Once she got the all clear, the first year waved her wand. All done. |
Well, now we know why the doxy venom was needed. Besides making a fool out of a gryffindor. Culloden seemed like he was done for today. Just completely out of it. At least no potions exploded or anything. He could be proud of that. The Prefect added the one drop of doxy venom to his potion and watched to smoke. Pretty awesome that was. After a few seconds he waved his wand over it to make it stop. There done with that part. |
The Gryffindor's face was still red with anger but he stayed quiet. Not that he had any other choice since Lex had Jinxed him... He noticed that the Professor was ignoring him again and now went to Zahra...vanished her potion AND he saw her wand flying towards the Potions Professor. His eyes narrowed as he glared at the man yet again and wanted to shout at the injustice ...but he couldn't So with a groan, the Gryffindor was kind of forced to work on his own potion so he turned to his cauldron. Making a mental note to help the girl get her wand back somehow... Alright...so Doxy Venom.. The boy looked around his table but then remembered that he had ACCIDENTALLY! Dropped the jar on the ground and that the man had vanished it. He opened his mouth to say that he didn't have any doxy venom anymore but what came out of his mouth was something even he did not understand. And he was the one saying it! Getting frustrated again, Kevin grabbed a piece of parchment and with his muggle pen he wrote something on it. Quote:
