Professor Culloden is welcoming you by the door again with an eager smile. Only after greeting him can you enter the classroom. The soft, calming blue walls welcome you for this term's earliest lesson. I hope you are well awake, because the chairs with soft cushions, charmed to take the most comfortable shape and height once a student is seated won't help you stay awake. By the door of the potions store room stands one big, grey rubbish bin and a white, porcelain washbasin with a tap for those who wants to wash their hands before/after the class and who can't perform 'Aguamenti' charm.
When you turn your eyes to the blackboard, you see an ENORMOUS magical picture that depicts a grinning Professor Culloden. That's not the peculiar thing about it, though, but that he's lifting a hatcback muggle car over his head as he's doing step aerobics.
What a show-off.
OOC: If you are going to RP your characer use the washbasin or the washbasin, you don't have to take Cosgrach's permission. Just assume he has granted it.
The lesson is in progress, so don't post your characters arriving late! Just act as if they have been there all along.
Potion progress
• 2 kilograms of dragon heart (a few grams more/less doesn’t matter)
• 1 pomegranate
• A cup of re’em blood
• One mature salamander’s blood
• 2 unicorn tail hairs
• Powdered griffin claw
• 2 snake fangs
1. Add 2 litres of water and the unicorn tail hairs one by one
2. Turn the heat to high and add the dragon heart
3. Wait until it boils and add pomegranate
4. Turn the heater to medium and wait for five minutes. In the meantime, mix re’em and salamander blood in a bowl and stir them five times clockwise and five times counter clockwise and crush griffin claw (doesn't have to be a perfect powder - just crush as well as you can withOUT magic).
5. Add the blood mixture slowly and THEN, the powdered griffin claw IMMEDIATELY.
6. Wait for ten minutes and add one snake fang
7. Put the fire out and add the other snake fang
8. Stir counter clockwise once
9. Drink a cup of the potion in one go, while still hot
Notes
- Tastes like metal
- Good for anaemia or lack of iron
- Do not drink more for longer duration, but rather drink another cup after you feel it’s wearing off. If you drink more than a cup, it will make you feel too dizzy to stand straight.
- To conserve for a week after brewing, add a cup of ice from pure water
- The colour is bright yellow
- For the first few minutes after drinking, sit and let your body and muscles adjust to it. Once you feel fresh, go around being super strong, and don't worry: you can control it.
- You can omit the heart part by adding a glass of water, counting to 18 and adding pomegranate. You can also not mix Re’em blood at all and add another pomegranate instead, but this will reduce the effect to one tenth.

At first, Caleb had NO idea what the heck the whole 'Culloden-lifting-a-truck' thing was about. Was he just showing off? Did he think it was a nice addition to the decor of his classroom? After all, he DID need a bit more masculine energy in here after that silly blue paint job...
But as he began to explain what they were actually doing, that made MUCHHHHH more sense. Super strength? COOL! Caleb could get on board with that!
He walked over and got his ingredients, then returned to his cauldron and took his wand in his hand. He waved it over the cauldron and muttered "Scourgify!" as all good potioneers (and their children) knew that was the first and most IMPORTANT step in the whole process.
Then came the water. "Aguamenti!" he muttered, watching until 2 liters had filled his cauldron and he gave the wand a wave to stop it. He then took the unicorn hairs that he had gathered - same as in his wand! - and added one, and then the second one. There, done with step one! Easy enough.
Now for the heat and the...dragon heart? Yes, he'd heard that correctly it seemed. Wow. Maybe THAT was what gave them all that awesome strength? Probably. He pointed his wand at the bottom of his cauldron and said "Incendio!" watching as the flames erupted under his cauldron. Now that the heat was on, time to add the heart!
First, to measure it. He went to the nearby scale used to measure ingredients and took his heart, placing it on there. It was just a bit over the weight...so he took his cutting knife and sliced off a bit. And a bit more. He continued, checking and rechecking the weight until it was very near the 2 kilograms Culloden had asked for. He took it back to his seat and BLOP! Dropped it right into the water.

She was already getting distracted and they weren't even half way through the potion. Clearing her mind and focusing her gaze on what she was doing, Beverly wrote down the next step. This is where it got tricky in her head. Her love for dragons went above and beyond...but when it came to potions she had no issues using their parts. Did that make her a hypocrite? Heartless to dragons? UGH. The questions would never end.
Lighting up a small flame with Incendio, Bev turned it up to high. She wasn't the queasy type, so cutting with the Severing Charm, and weighing about about two kilograms of the dragon heart, didn't faze her as much. The only thought was: The DRAGON! Hopefully it'd been an old one that had lived a full life.
Gently, as to not jostle the water too much, Beverly added the dragon heart bits, and out of habit, peered into the cauldron to check for any changes.

Not casting, just offering advice.
Her attention had only shifted briefly before it was brought back by the tugging at her robes. "Hey, you did! See? Nothing to it once you concentrate and have the right intent." Key things when spell casting. She would let her get back to her work though. If she needed her she'd tug again, and Lex was now keeping an eye on her anyway so all was good.
Turning to her own cauldron again, she gave a tap beneath it. "Incendio." She turned the fire as high as it would go--what? He did say 'high' then got to measuring her chunk of the dragon heart. It wasn't exactly 2 kg but it was close enough and the instructions said it didn't matter. Dare she trust Culloden with estimations? She probably shouldn't ...but it was awfully close and she didn't want to go cutting more so fine. Believing him just this once.
There. Dragon heart added.
Beaming from her success still, her smile slightly faltered at the professor telling her that she couldn't have a pet unicorn. That was really too bad, but she could always get another magical creature and she would wait and bombard the creature professor with questions pertaining to pet ownership.
She needed to heat the cauldron again and that was once again something that she didn't know much about. Deciding to lean on Lex again she watched as she merely tapped her wand. The spell sounded bold, something that definitely went with fire in her opinion. "Incendio... In-cen-dio... In-cen-d-io...Ha, that sounds like onion soup." Merlin, she was hungry. She was not going to be able to heat the cauldron up if she couldn't keep her mind off of food for long. "Incendio." Wand tap. Stone cold and not even a flicker of fire was present.
Not wanting to waste ten years trying to figure out the spell she decided to say the spell louder and tap the wand harder. It made perfect sense in her mind. "Incendio!!!" and just like that flames were present, but they were too big... far too big. They licked the sides of her cauldron and went straight into the air. O.O She knew this was most likely not a good thing, but she was impressed and not sure how she should really handle the situation. With a twinkle in her eyes she turned to Lex and whispered "Awesome."

She decided right then that she didn't really like this potion. It was taking up time and she was sure that learning this wasn't going to help her. She didn't carry anything heavier than her nieces and nephew. And that was easier than anything. World's Strongest Auntie here!
Alright. Next step. She added the stuff onto her instructions, making use of her new found habit of drawing arrows on things and splitting the last step the professor added into two. Just so she remembered to do the first part as she'd have to leave her station to go and get her dragon heart stuff.

STRENGTH POTION
- Useful to hold cars above your head (?)
- Used to carry heavy stuff in building work
- Helpful with anaemia if you're lazy and don't want the usual potion
- Blood, blood and heart (a butchers delight?)
- Poor pomegranate
Ingredients
2 kilograms of dragon heart (a little ↑ or ↓ is ok)
1 pomegranate
A cup of re’em blood
One mature salamander’s blood
2 unicorn tail hairs
Powdered griffin claw
2 snake fangs
Instructions
: Clean. Everything.
1. Add 2 litres of water and the unicorn tail hairs one by one
2. Turn the heat up high (↑ ↑ ↑ ↑ ↑)
3. Add 2 kilograms of dragon heart
With a focussed "Incendio", Elodie had the fire going under her cauldron, careful to keep her other things away from it unlike another student. He got a look and a thumbs up after he'd put his error out and she offered him a little smile. Poor kid. Was he gonna need help? Should she be keeping an eye on him? Was that something she should do? She probably would. Just so he didn't catch fire to any of his clothing or hair or someone else. WALKING HAZARD CHILD RIGHT THERE. She also totally noted how he'd used his SHOE to put out the flames. Well that was a shoe wasted. Was it safe to take a shoe off in hERE?
Making sure her cauldron was okay for now, she went to measure out her 2kg of dragon heart. Going just a smidgen over because wasn't there a saying that having too much was better than having too little? Maybe. Whatever. It was only a gram more than she needed. It wasn't worth trying to cut her portion down by just a gram.
Once she'd got that, she peered back over at the flames kid and added the dragon heart to her cauldron.
Bree felt rather nervous as she started her first ever potion. She knew magic could get crazy if performed incorrectly and she had a funny feeling something would go wrong and instead of having a cool strengthening potion her potion would make her weakling. she listened carefully as instructions for the potion were given and she wrote them down:
Quote:
Strength Potion
• 2 kilograms of dragon heart (a few grams more/less doesn’t matter)
• 1 pomegranate
• A cup of re’em blood
• One mature salamander’s blood
• 2 unicorn tail hairs
• Powdered griffin claw
• 2 snake fangs
1. Add 2 litres of water and the unicorn tail hairs one by one
2. Turn the heat to high and add the dragon heart
Bree looked over the list and felt her stomach flip. The only normal thing on that list was pomegranate. She gathered her ingredients and seeing them in person was not making her feel much better. Soon instructions were given and she went to the faucet and measured out 2 liters of water and then added it to her potion. She then grabbed her unicorn hairs and put them in one at a time and grinned. So far things were not so bad. She then heard the next set of instructions and was not sure of she could do the second part. She heated her potion to high and then looked toward the heart. With gloves on she picked it up but it was rather slimy and slipped through her gloved fingers into her potion with a splash. She looked down and saw the potion sizzle with that disgusting dragon heart. Her little body could not take it. She threw up into the potion. It instantly began to bubble violently and even feeling aweful she quickly backed away from the potion and and called out, "Professor, I need some help", Bree said as she clenched her stomach praying she would not throw up again.
vinnie had just managed to finish her first step as the Professor moved on. Slow down teacher man thing. They were still learning this, no need to rush.
Had she cleaned her cauldron? What a silly question. Of course she had. Even though the brunette wasnt too fond of potions, she knew the basics. Blowing up her cauldron cause dirt definitely wasnt her intention.
Okay so now...set the water on fire and get the dragon heart. 2 kg of dragon heart. Why so much?!How many litres of potions would that make?! Hopefully not overflowing her cauldron. Oh well if it did, the professor obviously had to clean it up, as they just followed his instructions.
Just about to set her water on fire the Slytherin noticed a rather young looking boy setting something on fire, that wasnt supposed to be on fire. Was he alright?! How did that happen?! "Incendio", she said pointing her wand at her cauldron and watched theflames for a second. Pretty, but dangerous.
On her way to get her dragon heart Vinnie checked up on the little fire boy. He seemed to be alright, lucky one. So....it was time to measure the dragon heart. It looked rather weird, but then again she had never seen a naked dragon heart before. It felt weird in her hand too...eww.
The fifth year measured exactly 2 kg and went back to her place. With a little splash she added the dragon heart. What next professor?!

Yep. Just has he suspected, Mo had a problem. West watched his friend for a moment, having more sympathy for Mo than he did for the animals that the blood and sundries had once belonged to. Aaaand that answer was clearly not what Mo meant but West shrugged it off and went ahead to get a measure of heart. 2 Kilograms, or as close to that as his scales allowed. Once he was satisfied that the measurement was right, he turned the heat on his cauldron to high, and gently dropped the measured dragon heart in.

"Welcome to Hogwarts, Dima," he addressed the little boy, "d'you mind telling Alexa to meet me at my office after class, please?"
There was going to be blood.
"Thanks, sir!" Dima responded enthusiastically, completely unaware of any anger or threat in the professor's voice. "Alexa... like the Gryffindor Prefect? I can do that!"
In fact, he'd just go sit by her. Middle row. Right there.
Hi Alexa!

He closed the door once Vesper'd entered and turned to the class. He was stading at the right side of the picture not to block their sight, and grinned at them.
"Welcome to the first class of this term," he said, "I'm Cosgrach Culloden, for those who don't know me, and this is my second term teaching." So, NO 'Collarbin, Dima and Lucy, see? C-U-L-L-O-D-E-N. His eyes were on Alexa, though, and his teeth were clenched momentarily before he relaxed himself. Today was a beautiful day, and it would be even better when he and she had a chat at his office.
"Today, we'll brew a strength potion that will enable you to," he took a deep breath not to laugh, "lift a car like I'm doing in this picture. Not just for entertainment, though. It was used to carry all kinds of material in the past, beginning from ancient times, for building and stuff," yeah yeah, he didn't know why else people moved stuff and they shouldn't question that, that wasn't the point, "so we see some of those historical buildings thanks to it." He grinned proudly. They could tell it was one of his favourite potions. "It is very easy to brew, and it is good for anaemia, lack of red blood cells in the blood. It makes you dizzy and causes lack of strength, so if you don't want to bother with a proper health potion," or lack the ability to do it, "I suggest you brew this. It's also good for lack of iron, so let's start brewing!"
He didn't want to fold his amazing picture, but the kids should also learn this potion, so he tapped his wand at it and it folded itself to open the blackboard.
"As dragon heart is actually expensive, and rare," he eyed them all for it to sink, "you have to use it carefully. One heart should be enough for all the class, and uh," he glanced at his empty table, "I'll bring it and the scale while you do the first step." No one sight problems, he hoped? He didn't need to read it out himself, right?
Right.
With that, he quickly opened the door of store room and entered to get them.
OOC: The class has started, so please do not post your characters arriving late. Just act as if they have been there all along.
The class will continue about 11 hours later.[/QUOTE]
"The professor wants to see you in his office after class," he told Lex cheerfully as he wiggled onto the stool next to her. Setting down his stuff, the first year reached into his bag for some parchment and a quill. He'd need that, right? Notes and all? They took those in school, Dima knew!
But his cheerful mood began to disappear as the professor began speaking. Culloden? Cosgrach Culloden? Not... not Corkrash Collarbin?
That prefect had lied to him.
Suddenly growing sulky, Dima scribbled down the ingredients without looking at them much and tried not to wish he was sitting somewhere else. Somewhere that wasn't next to mean and lying badged people who didn't play TRICKS on new first years.

He turned to the class to see how they were doing and two students asked him questions. Deciding to answer the little girl first, he said "You can't, they're too fast to catch and too shy to play with." So they would make a boring pet, really.
And now, Mr. Branxton's question.
"The dragon heart comes from a dragon that died in a dragon reserve. I have a friend there and he sold it to the school without adding his own profit. The salamander blood, the school probably bought from the market." He shrugged. He didn't know, those animals were one of his least favourite, so he didn't really take an interest in them.
"And re'em blood you will use today is very, very diluted." Mo was asking because they were sold at astronomical prices, right? "So they didn't really cost that much, and I didn't buy them from the black market or anything." So his professor was still perfectly legal.
Did that answer to his question?
He also saw those that were helping people, and although he didn't call out their names, he took mental note before he tapped his wand on the blackboard to show the next step.
"I hope you've all cleaned your cauldrons," he said as he EYED them, "because dragons don't like dirt." Clear? Clear.
"Alright, light a fire and turn it to high. Then, measure the dragon heart," he moved to open the box while he talked, because it was sealed with magic, "and add it."
Once the box was opened, he moved behind his desk and sat down to oversee how they measured it.
That cleaning spell that everyone was using on their cauldrons? Was anyone going to teach it to him before expecting him to cast it? He couldn't exactly pick up the movements and exact sound of the incantation just from observing, so Dima picked up his cauldron (which was quite hard. Tiny eleven year old arms here, okay?) and waddled over to the washbasin. He spent a few moments scrubbing the inside of his cauldron clean.
And since he was there and getting water and all, he went ahead and filled his cauldron too. Yeah! Two liters! Woohoo!
Or... it looked like it. Whatever.
Hugging his cauldron to his tummy, he carefully hobbled his way back to his workstation and set his cauldron down without spilling a drop. Ta-da! He made sure it was steady on the tabletop before reaching into his bag and finding his potions kit, drawing two unicorn tail hairs out of it and dropping them in one by one.
Man, school was HARD.

And then Dima paused.
DRAGON heart? They killed a DRAGON?
He looked over at the freckled boy making a ruckus about it and was just about to join in when Marcus Orion asked about it. If... if it died of natural causes, it was okay, right? No dragons were hurt in the making of this potion? Right? Eight?
So he supposed he could perform that step... after he got his burner going. How did he do that again?
"Grayson." Psssst. Dima would have asked Lex for help, except he was still cross about her and her LIES. And Grayson was sorta close-ish! Close enough to hear him, at least. "Can you light my burner for me?" .... "Please?"

Lucy said:"Ok..STEP 2..""I can light a fire with INCENDIO!!"
Lucy waved her wand and she saw the flames..
"NOW DRAGON..."said Lucy and she measured 2 kilograms of the dragon heart..
Lucy added the dragon heart..
She was very excited:"I can do magic!"..she said!
• 2 kilograms of dragon heart (a few grams more/less doesn't matter)

Right, right, Potions and what not Giving glances to his parchment he jotted down the next instruction he was given. They now had to heat the wataa! "Incendio" a small flame burst from his wand and went up under his cauldron and he waited for it to intensify to his desired intensity or whatever to where it would heat quickly.
He also needed dragon heart. Going up to where it was he carefully measured out the two kilograms of the dragon heart and he managed to get just under two but that was fine according to the board. Slipping the dragon heart its in he looked over and into his potion. What was gonna happen next!?
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Adi was adding the first step to his notebook when he heard AJ's question. He nearly laughed out loud again. These Valentine girls were funny! Granted he hadn't met Abby as yet but AJ and Angel were funny even if they didn't know it. But he couldn't blame AJ. Ever since his first year he wanted a pet Hippogriff. Had his wish come through? Not yet.
Alrightey. It was time for the next step. Adi pointed his wand to the burner. "Incendio!'' When it was lit, he turned it up high. Dragon heart time. Carefully holding it in his hands, the Puffer rested it on the freshly cleaned scales. After measuring out just a tad bit more than two KGs, he added to his cauldron.
"Hey, Angel. Follow what I'm doing but if you need help with the spell work, let me know,'' he told his first year friend.

Grayson had been all too busy looking around the classroom to see what the others had been doing when he heard his NAME. And who was calling him? Dragon Boy himself. Please say it wasn't hugs.
Oh. Spell question.
'Least he had the manners to say please.
"Sure." He even SMILED as he shuffled closer towards the younger boy. "I'll show you how it's done and then you can try it on your own, mkay?" Because he needed to learn, too. "The spell is Incendio. In-SEN-dee-oh!" he said, grabbing a piece of parchment, "And the wand movement's like a flame. Easy to remember, yeah?"
"Watch closely!" Grayson took out his wand and cleared his throat. "Incendio!" he said, casting the wand movement on the piece of parchment. The parchment lit up and he held it up for the young kid to see. FLAMES. FIYAH. LOOK! His face probably lit up with happiness before he dropped the parchment on the floor and stamped out the flames. "Okay, you try." Show him what you've got, Dragon Boy.

Zander looked around the classroom curiously as he watched his classmates begin the next step. Potions always made him really nervous because one wrong move and everything is ruined. All that hard work and you just end up with a melted cauldron. Carefully he lifted his wand and "Incendio"-ed. Okay... Second times the charm? "Incendio?" It had only been one summer, had he really lost his touch? He's going to look like such a firstie if he can't get the "INCENDIO" right. AHA! And there's a flame at last!
What was the next part? Oh yeah the dragon heart.... ew. Why did potions ingredients have to be so gross. Couldn't they just deal with the normal stuff. Like salt and baking soda? Again looking around at others he carefully measured around 2 kilograms of dragon heart, okay there may had been a little extra, but Professor Culloden said it shouldn't matter too much if they were a few grams off here and there. Zander would just be more careful the rest of the time. And TADA: step two, complete.

Starting immediately on brewing the potion, it seemed. Good, hopefully that meant the class would go by faster.
Penelope cast a couple quick Scourgify's on her cauldron to make sure it was clean since she hadn't used it all summer. She never had, though she supposed she probably could have during this one, being 17 and all. But she'd have loads of time to use it in the future so need to rush it, especially when it was easier to just buy something to ensure it was made right.
Aguamenti was used next, measuring out two liters and adding it to the cauldron, and then the two hairs were added one by one.
Easy enough.
Next, Incendio. That was also cast easily enough, and making sure it was on high was even easier.
This next bit however...erm...
Because Merlin's beard that box - and HEART - were HUGE. Dear Merlin. And she had to measure out a whole two kilograms of it. Ew. Penelope wasn't easily grossed out or anything, but this still wasn't pleasant and she didn't really enjoy it. But she had to do it so...she brought her scales and whatever else was needed up with her - making sure to clean them with a quick Scourgify of course - and then setting to work.
After a couple minutes, that was done, and she brought it back to her work station and added it in. There, two steps done.

"Mmkay," Dima agreed, swinging his little legs that didn't quite reach the floor as he watched the older boy grab a piece of parchment. It was just nice not to have to guess and possibly cast it wrong. Or set something on fire like that boy over there.
'Cause he had traumatic experiences with fire, okay? Ones involving an Ollivander's shopkeeper and some hair. Ahem.
"Incendio. In-SEN-dee-oh." He repeated the words as Grayson said them, trying to trace a flame-like pattern above his cauldron burner while his current spell instructor stomped around like a giant. What was he doing? Huh? Was that part of the spell movement too?
Focus, Toussaint. "Incendio!"
And then there was fire! Except on no one's head this time.
"Thanks man! Dragon Boy can make fire now!" Yeah! He did another puny muscle man pose for the Slytherin, bringing his fists together and completing the image with a tiny growl before getting back to work. Right. Dragon-who-died-of-natural-causes heart time.

He amended his notes before getting a measure of a dragon heart. It was somewhere around two kilograms, but since Dima wasn't keen on playing with the heart of a dragon or fretting over something not needing precision, he went ahead and added it to his cauldron. Voila.
Finally. A BREAK.
Whew. This was like a brain workout. Gross.

Onto step 2.
Writing down the step into his notes, Ben returned his wand to his hand in place of the quill. He lit the fire with an "Incendio," then turning it to high as directed. That much was fine. However he hated when he had to leave his station to get something or another because it allowed more chances for a mistake or a messup and overall trouble for him. There was no guarantee that his luck with Culloden instead of Lafay would hold.
Ben bit his lip and steeled himself, getting up and moving to the front of the room and finally noticing a few others in the classroom he hadn't before. Namely Adi and angel, the former seemingly helping the latter. Fine by him...he was rubbish on his own...helping was usually out of his capacity.
Speaking of own work, he had his piece of dragon heart to gather. The Gryffindor estimated as best he thought two kilograms would be and brought it back to his work station. Then after another quick scourgify on his scales, he measured it properly. Eh...just a little over but the notes had said it was fine so he carefully added it to his potion.

The first step of the potion had been easy, but Lux was not looking forward to handling a dragon heart. Just because she thought they were cool didn't mean that she wanted to touch their organs.
Sighing, she jotted down the next step:
Quote:
STRENGTH POTION
• 2 kilograms of dragon heart (a few grams more/less doesn’t matter)
• 1 pomegranate
• A cup of re’em blood
• One mature salamander’s blood • 2 unicorn tail hairs
• Powdered griffin claw
• 2 snake fangs
1. Add 2 litres of water and the unicorn tail hairs one by one
2. Turn the heat to high and add the dragon heart
Staring at her paper, she wondered if she could just not add the heart and pretend that she did. No, that was not proper potion brewing, and this was something Lux took seriously. Maybe it wouldn't be any worse than the fish eyes thing last term?
Using Incendio, Lux lit a fire under her cauldron then adjusted the heat to high. Now it was time for her to add the dragon heart.
EWWWWWW.
Trying not to focus on how gross potion ingredients could be, she placed it on the scale which she had just cleaned. It was a teeny tiny bit over two kilograms, but it was not anything that she would need to alter.
Into the cauldron it went before she crossed off the step in her notes:

Sophie just stared at Culloden as he detailed the potion and what it was used for, then started giving out directions. She'd already set up her work area, so all she needed to do to start things off was clean her cauldron. She spent the next minute or two doing that, and then she inspected it just for good measure.
Mmkay, all was good.
She measured out two liters of water then added it to the cauldron. Next, she collected the two unicorn hairs and added then one by one. When that was done, she turned the heat to high then looked up to see what was next.
Dragon heart. Eww.
She hesitated but then decided she should just go ahead and add it since it wasn't going to jump in the cauldron all by itself. She carefully measured out the precise amount she needed then carefully...very carefully...added it to the cauldron.

Maddie didn't really see what the big deal about dragon hearts was. She didn't really think they killed a buncha dragons just to steal their hearts from them cause that seemed really cruel and besides, what were the odds that that many dragons lost battles when the battles happened. The dragons had to win sometime, didn't they? So the eleven year old was inclined to think that the dragons had died of, y'know, natural causes and then the harvesting people or whatever they were called took the organs and junk just like a doctor would if a person died and agreed to donate their heart to some sick kid. See? No big deal.
What was sort of a big deal was the fact that Maddie didn't know how to light the burner. She'd heard the spell and stuff but she couldn't seem to get it to work and so she did what she did best, observed those around her. It seemed that Dima didn't mind asking for assistance and so the small brunette turned her head so her ear was facing her ally and that rude boy from the wall. "Incendio." So that was the right way to say it. Maybe that wall kid wasn't as horrible as he SEEMED. He was helping Dima out, after all. Helping her too though he didn't know it. Now with wand in hand, Maddie repeated the incantation a few more times and then tried it out for real. "Incendio!" ... ...FIRE! She made fire! SHE WAS A DRAGON, PRACTICALLY. Not that she was super excited or anything. Nah, just glad her cauldron was getting heat now. ...Uh-huh.
Now she needed that scale thing for measuring purposes. Plus something to carry the heart back on. She must have a dish around in her kit-yup, got it!
Maddie carried all the stuff carefully up to Culloden's desk and set them down, giving the guy a curious look before getting to work. First she cleaned the stuff she'd brought along cause she KNEW how to do that now ALL on her own. Independent woman right here! When things were clean and ready, she then started handling the dragon heart. WHICH WAS SO COOL, OH MY GOSH! She took a little bit at a time so that she didn't add TOO much to start. It took her a bit but eventually she got the amount she wanted and she smiled to herself before placing the correct amount onto the dish she'd brought up. Then she grabbed her scale with her free hand, gave Culloden a nod, and headed back to her seat.
Once things were put down and Maddie was seated once more, she added the heart. The dragon heart. SO cool.

Once he had gathered his things and had added the water and unicorn hairs, Dylan glanced up as the professor added the next step to the board. After quickly jotting it down into his notebook, he looked it over and nodded to himself. Didn't seem too hard. Pushing his long hair behind him, he turned on the heat and waited for it to heat up. Okay. Now to measure his dragon heart. Picking it up delicately, he looked it over and made a face. Eww. Gross. It was gross to look at and to know he was holding a dragon's heart in his hand. He shuddered. He frowned at the thought of the poor lil' dragon.
Once the third year measured it on a near scale and made sure it was good to add, he plopped it into his cauldron. There we go. Not too hard, yeah? He looked up to the professor, waiting for further instructions.

Her flames were okay? Cool! nobody seemed to be freaking out about it, and she was sure that they would die down in due time anyways. So what did she need to do next? Oh yeah, it was dragon heart time and apparently not just any amount of dragon heart would do.
AJ grabbed the dragon heart. "Squishy." She had a habit of saying random things that popped inside her head. Temptation getting the best of her, AJ swiftly smelled the heart. Hmmm... there was nothing magical of the smell of that. Shrugging her shoulders she went ahead and measured it out as carefully as is was going to get and added it to her cauldron. Would you look at that, the flames weren't that high anymore.
Oh good, the best part. Adrienne grinned wickedly at the thought of getting to use a dragon heart, which was just incredibly cool, and cast a quick "Incendio!" in the direction of the bottom of her cauldron, sticking around just long enough to make sure that she hadn't actually caught her notebook on fire and that it was actually hot enough, and since thankfully that hadn't happened (this time), she was ready to move on to the next step. Dragon heart. Fantastic.
Adrienne "Scourgify!"-ed her hands just to make absolutely sure she was entirely clean before touching any ingredients, and then eagerly made her way to the front of the classroom. After the guy in front of her went, a Puff with terrible hair, she carefully measured out some dragon heart using the provided scales, then plopping it onto the glass dish she'd brought up with her. So, it wasn't exactly two kilograms, but it was probably close enough anyway, right? Besides, the instructions specifically said it didn't matter much if it was slightly off, so she was probably fine. Adrienne grinned at the professor and took the dish back to her seat, picking up each weird, slippery piece of heart before adding them to her cauldron. They squished satisfyingly and left her hands feeling weird and cold, but she was too excited to care. She'd just held a piece of a dragon's heart! How cool was that?
The Professor was already explaining the next step before Michael had had time to look around the classroom to see who was there and what they were doing.
He picked up his wand and pointed it underneath his cauldron. "Incendio." He said with quiet confidence. He waited a moment to make sure that the flame wasn't going to go out before moving to the front of the class to get his dragon heart.

After measuring out two kilograms, Michael carried the dish of dragon heart back to his desk, but not before taking a slight detour around his cousin's desk. He gave Dima a flick behind the ear. "You could have asked me to help, you know?" Geez!
He poked his tongue out at the younger Toussaint before finally making his way back to his own workbench, where he proceeded to add the dragon heart to the cauldron.

It was time for the next step so Jasmine readied her wand and prepared to light the fire under her cauldron. Pointing her wand beneath the cauldron, she said, "Incendio". As the fire sprang to life and began to burn, Jasmine turned the heat up high. Now all she had to do was properly retrieve her dragon heart.
Taking her previously cleaned instruments, Jasmine waited her turn to get her piece of dragon heart. Finally when it was her turn, she first estimated how big of a piece she would need. Taking her knife, Jasmine cut a piece that she thought would approximate two kilograms. Placing her piece of heart on the scale, she was happy to see that it was close enough to the desired weight to be usable. Jasmine took the heart back to her cauldron and placed it in the heated water. Step two-completed.

Coral-Bay was a little slow at completing the steps. She wanted to make sure she was right in everything that she was doing and kept glancing at her sister as she did the steps, coping what she was doing as she went along.
She had cleaned everything when she'd gotten here along with the rest of the class, poured in the two litres of water and added the unicorn hairs specifically one by one. She watched where they fell just to make sure they didn't clump up. What was the point of adding them one by one if they had?
Next, she then turned the heat up reaaaal high and headed toward the front of the class to get her dragon heart measurements. She measured it out once, then again just to make sure and headed back to her seat next to Hallie, giving her a sympathetic look. She could only imagine how her twin was feeling. Dragons were her faaaavorite. Coral, on the other hand, was disappointed in herself for not wearing her studded dragon claw rings. Just cause it would have went with the lesson and all. She could have shown them OFF. How COOL would that have been? So cool.
As soon as she'd reached her seat, she added the measurement in, making sure not to spill any and get it alllllll in and not waiting for Hallie to do hers. She wasn't even sure Hallie was going to. But anyway.. All done.
Now what?
