Professor Culloden is welcoming you by the door again with an eager smile. Only after greeting him can you enter the classroom. The soft, calming blue walls welcome you for this term's earliest lesson. I hope you are well awake, because the chairs with soft cushions, charmed to take the most comfortable shape and height once a student is seated won't help you stay awake. By the door of the potions store room stands one big, grey rubbish bin and a white, porcelain washbasin with a tap for those who wants to wash their hands before/after the class and who can't perform 'Aguamenti' charm.
When you turn your eyes to the blackboard, you see an ENORMOUS magical picture that depicts a grinning Professor Culloden. That's not the peculiar thing about it, though, but that he's lifting a hatcback muggle car over his head as he's doing step aerobics.
What a show-off.
OOC: If you are going to RP your characer use the washbasin or the washbasin, you don't have to take Cosgrach's permission. Just assume he has granted it.
The lesson is in progress, so don't post your characters arriving late! Just act as if they have been there all along.
Potion progress
• 2 kilograms of dragon heart (a few grams more/less doesn’t matter)
• 1 pomegranate
• A cup of re’em blood
• One mature salamander’s blood
• 2 unicorn tail hairs
• Powdered griffin claw
• 2 snake fangs
1. Add 2 litres of water and the unicorn tail hairs one by one
2. Turn the heat to high and add the dragon heart
3. Wait until it boils and add pomegranate
4. Turn the heater to medium and wait for five minutes. In the meantime, mix re’em and salamander blood in a bowl and stir them five times clockwise and five times counter clockwise and crush griffin claw (doesn't have to be a perfect powder - just crush as well as you can withOUT magic).
5. Add the blood mixture slowly and THEN, the powdered griffin claw IMMEDIATELY.
6. Wait for ten minutes and add one snake fang
7. Put the fire out and add the other snake fang
8. Stir counter clockwise once
9. Drink a cup of the potion in one go, while still hot
Notes
- Tastes like metal
- Good for anaemia or lack of iron
- Do not drink more for longer duration, but rather drink another cup after you feel it’s wearing off. If you drink more than a cup, it will make you feel too dizzy to stand straight.
- To conserve for a week after brewing, add a cup of ice from pure water
- The colour is bright yellow
- For the first few minutes after drinking, sit and let your body and muscles adjust to it. Once you feel fresh, go around being super strong, and don't worry: you can control it.
- You can omit the heart part by adding a glass of water, counting to 18 and adding pomegranate. You can also not mix Re’em blood at all and add another pomegranate instead, but this will reduce the effect to one tenth.
Activity
Wrist-wrestling with a friend or getting two chances at High Striker. You should post twice until Friday 19.00 GMT/14.00 EST. Please see the OOC note of my post that explains the activity.

The young Slytherin brought the cup to his lips, but then paused.
Where was his manners??! Of course! Introductions!
"I'm Ethan, by the way. Third Year." No need to say his surname since it's just going to confuse the other kid. There was another Mordaunt in the room, yeah? And most probably he's friends with him too. Anyway! Back to the potion. Ethan raised his cup as if to toast. "Bottoms up!"
Glug glug glug.
"Ah..." Ethan savored the taste, and made a face after. "I say, we should more pomegranate in there. More flavor, no?" Ethan plopped down on a chair and waited for the potion to take effect.
"Lalalala." Nothing.
Hmm. Maybe he should wait more.
"Thanks," Benny said accepting the offered goblet of potion. It seemed all good so nothing to be afraid of. "Benjamin---Ben," he introduced, returning the favor. "Also in third year." Must be why he didn't seem too unfamiliar. They likely had classes with each other all the time.
Wordlessly returning the salute, albeit almost half-hearted, Ben swallowed in anticipation before raising the cup to his lips and drinking it. Yep, it could certainly use some help in the flavor department, he agreed, waiting to see his it dd in effects.
Seeing that everyone already have a partner and the time was ticking, Candice decided to drink her own potion and tried that thingy over there. She poured the potion into a cup. "Bottoms up!" That's definitely not the most delicious drink she ever tasted but she'd survived.
The Gryffindor waited for the potion to work. Hmm..She didn't feel any different. Maybe she should try that game? To make sure the potion work, yea?

This was COOL! Maddie wasn't even bothered by the fact that Declan seemed amused about their size difference. Small people could do INCREDIBLY powerful things. Like the time she'd set up a trap in Vinny's room and it rained down-- Well, that wasn't important. What WAS important, was that Maddie was playing to WIN.
HEH. She was doing a good job so far, yeah? This dude's potion must have been good because Maddie didn't even feel any pain as she channeled ALL her INCREDIBLE strength into pinning the older guy's arm down. She was watching him too, gaze locked on his. Was he NERVOUS? Ehehehe. Maddie let out a little giggle and held tight, willing his arm to give. This was FUN.

"Just give it a go go, give it a go go..." Ethan picked up the hammer as he sang, lifted it above his head and let it crash on the plate before him. The Slytherin was expecting to hear a 'ding' but...there was none. The lever just went half-way.

West took the cup and shrugged one shoulder. "Y'know he's my cousin, yeah?" Just saying. He saluted Sophie with the cup she just gave him and then downed it in one, not particularly wanting to mess about with it or overthink it. It tasted definitely metallic... which made sense given all the blood in the thing....
....
Was it working?
"Y'know, I'm not sure arm-wrestling would be fair. Maybe we should do the hammer thing." Grin.
Cousin? Sophie... wasn't actually sure that she did know that. She always thought they were just childhood best friends and all that. "Huh. That's cool." And made her more suspicious of him, then. Mo wasn't trusting of West out of goodwill - he was trusting him because he was blood. Very different levels of trust there.
No matter. The third year scooped up West's cup and pulled up the empty chair of someone who had gone to try the High Striker toy thing. Sitting down, she was surprised to see West down the potion without much thought - wanting to appear as brave as him, she did the same thing in as few of gulps as she could manage.
Yeah. The pomegranate really didn't help the taste all that much.
She didn't feel anything at first, aside from the warmth running down her throat allll the way into her stomach, but then as she took the recommended time to let it start working, she could feel it. At first, it felt like her limbs were heavy, but then... she felt GOOD. She gave West a bright smile. "Good call." She lowered her voice so only he could hear, "Wouldn't want to embarrass you or anything." HEHE. She was totally just teasing, which is why she made sure no one else could hear her playful taunt, then she made her way over to the High Striker thing. Weeeeird contraption, wasn't it?

The idea of drinking at the count of three was a good one, so that got him a nod from her. "I want to try arm wrestling with you." Why not? It was all in good fun, and she could be rather competitive when she wanted to be. Maybe she wasn't big or muscular like a lot of the guys were, but she could still hold her own. "Yes, I am dating Bay. Isn't he funny?" Surely Grayson had a good laugh over everything since it was all done in good fun and not to be mean.
Feeling that it was time to get this over with - since surely it would taste bad with all that heart and blood in it - Lux decided to start the count now. "Okay, one... two... three." Bringing the cup to her lips, she downed the whole thing. It was TERRIBLE, and made her want to gag. "So gross." What was with that lingering after taste?
He didn't seem bad at potion making either? Well DUH. Potions was one of his favourite subjects. Which, thinking about it, was probably something that the girl didn't know since this was their very first meeting. "Thank you." See? Manners. He had some, a tiny bit, somewhere deep deep deep down inside.
Grayson couldn't help but smirk at the sound of the arm wrestling. "Hope you're prepared to lose, then." Trash talk. There was nothing quite like it. He would have to remind himself that it was only a game and that the influence of the potion would help them if, and only if, the girl ended up winning. Bay? And funny????? Oh jeez. Be NICE, Whitlock. "Er, yeah, he is. He's quite good at pulling a prank or two." And he smiled. This being nice thing was going to end up being hard, he just knew it.
Countdown? The boy took a deep breath and, when the redhead said three, he brought the cup up to his lips and downed the whole thing. Oh. MERLIN. That TASTE?! Jeez, this wasn't what he had put himself up for. It tasted like freaking METAL. Keeping the expression on his face neutral was hard and, before long, the boy ended up scowling. "If it wasn't for the effect of the potion, I don't think I'd want to try it again." Uh huh. Horrible.
"We have to wait a bit and then arm wrestle, yeah?" Get the feeling in his muscles and all.
Candice went to the High Striker where she could tried her new super power. She looked at the hammer and it looked like very heavy, she's not sure whether she could lifted the hammer. What if her potion didn't work out? What if she got hit by the hammer when she's about to lift it? Snap out of it, Messer. Its not the time to play what-if game.
The eleven year old grabbed the hammer. Surprisingly its not as heavy as she thought it'd be. Its pretty light actually. Thank you, Strength potion. Now, she's supposed to hit that target over there, right? Kay. She swung the hammer down aiming for the target. Bull's eye! She did it. She was pretty sure that she could take down a troll by herself now. Where's that troll when you need one, eh?

When was this after taste going to leave? It was so gross, and Lux wanted it to go away. Sighing, she waited impatiently, starting to feel the effects of it work on her body. Clearly Grayson WAS good at brewing potions, because after a little while, she felt like she could do just about anything. Maybe not lift a car over her head, but certainly wrist wrestle.
Sitting down, she propped her arm on the table and opened her hand for Grayson to take. "Let's get to this." Her competitive side was showing, and she wanted to see if she could win this.
Now that she was standing near the High Striker thing, Sophie kind of wished she had tried it once before she took the potion, and then once after. The variation of results would've been far more interesting than it would be just to see her results with the potions effects playing a role. She ALSO wished she had dropped one more pomegranate into her potion for flavor. She smacked her tongue against the roof of her mouth a few times in displeasure, wishing the metallic taste would go away. She needed a stick of gum or something.
When it was her turn to have a go, Sophie let her gaze wander around the room first - Mo and Cat were arm-wrestling, Tobes was doing his own thing, Culloden was watching everyone with interest. Okay. So probably only the professor would see how cool and super-strong she probably was now. That was okay. Except... now she really wanted to hit the bell on the first try. Impress him and all. With that kind of motivation in mind, Sophie picked up the hammer, gave the lever a hard look of determination, and swung down hard at it -
- but no ding.
She watched the silver indicator bounce allll the way up into the red section... but slowed in its momentum enough to stop just before the bell and fall back down to the starting point.
Bummer. Maybe she hadn't waited long enough to let the potion settle into her muscles and stuff? She felt crazy strong, though, and giddy that it was so effortless. Was this how the big kids like Mo and Benjy felt all the time?

Waiting around for his body to adjust to the potion was downright weird and the boy was growing impatient. Come ooooooon, he wanted to be lifting heavy objects and throwing something across the grounds, already! Or, you know, challenging a girl to an arm wrestle. Maybe his biceps will rip out of his shirt. He'd have to buy a new one, of course, but it would be well worth it.
He didn't have to wait too long, however, before a weird sensation started spreading through his muscles and limbs. One where everything started feeling heavy and all he wanted to do was sit down. What the.............??? A confused expression spread across his face as Grayson stared down at the cup Lux had handed over to him. If she had poisoned the potion............ she was in for it. She seemed nice enough, though. HMMMMMMMMMM. Watching you, girlfriend of the Gryffindor Prankster.
And then the sensation stopped and Grayson felt different. Motivated. As if he could lift up ten of the seats around him and spin them around while yelling nonsense. Instead of doing that, he smirked at the redhead and plopped down opposite her. Just like she had, he propped his arm on the table too and clasped her hand with his. "Ready............."
".............. set..............."
Smirk.
"GO!" And cue as much pushing as he could muster -- which was a lot more than normal -- in an attempt to flatten her arm down on the table.

Sweet Circe!
This boy really WAS strong.
Trying to counter how much Grayson was pushing down on her arm, Lux put as much force into it as she could. It felt so strange having all this extra strength because she generally was rather small, but it was an amazing strange. So this is how those body builders feel.
Little beads of sweat formed on her forehead as Lux tried her best to not only keep her arm from hitting the table, but to send his arm in the direction.

Er, YEAH. Hello?! Strength of Hercules and as fit as a fiddle, he was.
But then again, most of this was down to the potion.
And the girl wasn't exactly weak, either. Sweet MERLIN, if he had agreed to arm wrestle a girl that was stronger than she looked, he was going down. His ego was going to be bruised. The he'd have lost to both people in that relationship. UGH. "You're........... really.......... strong." Maybe talking would put her off a bit. Just maybe.
But it wasn't because now, his arm was being pushed over to the side that, if it touched the table, would determine him as the loser. Oh jeez. He wasn't LOSING this. Not in a million years. Even if his arm was slowly inching towards the table. Maybe his potion really was THAT good.

NO. Puuuuuuuuush, Grayson. Push her arm AWAY.
And cue some grunting.
"you're... really... strong... too." Grayson was giving Lux a work out as he tried his best to counter her pushing him towards the table. She couldn't lose this, she was a fierce Badger, and she was strong now. She couldn't lose this; her competitive side was showing more than ever. "Come... on. Go... down."
Their potions had to be of equal strength, because otherwise they wouldn't be hanging in limbo like this.

Eh. Maybe later.
After Lex had taken her turn, he went for himself. It was quite hard for his puny arms to pick up the hammer without the extra strength of the potion, and it was even harder to swing it. The bell didn't ring at all, making it look like the Prefect's potion was one of the weakest.
He would have had more repentance if she was a bit nicer about it.
"Sorry." Y'know, for wasting her potion. And stuff. Oops. Whatever. Wasn't like she didn't have a whole CAULDRON of it left.
At first she hadn't noticed that he'd bothered to follow her over to the game. Really she thought he'd sit at his table and pretend he wasn't there so the Professor wouldn't be on him like he was with Kyroh but nope, he was coming too as she'd realized when she turned after taking her swing.
How heavy was the hammer? She couldn't tell thanks to the potion but she didn't reckon he'd be able to lift it.
Lex would have been impressed when he did but 'cept for the fact he was obviously struggling. Should have just drank the potion. It wouldn't have killed him. His apology after the shoddy hammer swing that had her potion looking questionnable did little to move her. What was she going to do with a 'sorry'? Take it to the candy shop and spend it? Turn it in instead of her next HoM essay? Tie it to her waist and dive from the Gryffindor Common Room? Bloody thing was useless.
As much as she wanted to, she didn't roll her eyes at him. Times like this she had to remember the kid was 11 and possibly stupid. It took time to get properly acclimatised the Hogwarts and stuff. "Yeah." She said with a small shrug. "No big deal I guess." Unless the Professor trying calling her out on her 'failed' potion....then heads would roll, little Dima ones.

She just about caught it - lightning fast Quidditch reactions - but she must've grabbed it a little too hard, because it cracked in her grip. Right, well, she was all strong and stuff now. Cool. "Yeah, let's go." Cause at least then she could go and wait for this to wear off in private. There was something disconcerting about it, okay? She watched Theo flex his muscles for a second... "Okay, very impressive, come on." She shot him a grin then walked over to the muggle thingy, rolling her sleeves up as she did. Lets go.
WOOT, he liked the enthusiasm!
Theo was right by her side when she dashed over to the bell-dinger. She looked ready to go, but Theo wanted to go first. He rubbed his hands together, flexed his muscles, then picked up the huge hammer. "Ready to see something amazing?" After stretched his neck side to side, Theo lifted the hammer over his shoulder, made a heeeeeeeeave noise and swung it till it whacked the target.
DING-A-LING-A-LING.
"YES!!"
He honestly knew he'd have no trouble with this.
Theodore dropped the hammer and turned to give Derry the cockiest smile ever. "You're up." Beat that, Ferrier!!! Mwahahahaha.

Contemplating a new strategy, Sophie scooted off to the side to let others have a go at the High Striker. She got two tries, so instead of using them both up at once, the fourteen-year old meandered back to her work station. She sat down, watching the others - even frail girls were giving the older, manly guys a run for their money in the strength department with the arm-wrestling. Totally weird. But cool. It made her wonder... before going into a war or battle, did people ever take this potion? It wouldn't hurt to have that brute strength as a back-up option in case one ever became wandless, right?
She didn't care much to know the answer, otherwise she'd ask Culloden, but for now, Sophie was content to see all the different things she could lift with much more ease than before - her bag, her potions kit, and she even stood up to see how effortless it was to pick up her chair. And then the handle of her half-full cauldron. Still totally weird. She looked over at her friends, then - that meant she could pick them up easily, too. HEHEHEHE.
After class. Eh hem.
Feeling ready to take a whack at the Muggle contraption once more, Sophie snuck back over when no one was using it, picked up the hammer, and, without a second thought, SWUNG WITH ALL HER MIGHT.
Ding!
It was a fairly faint ding in comparison to the ones that had rang throughout the room when the already-strong guys had struck it, but it was enough for her. She was as smug as could be. Boom. Supergirl Sophie. She dropped the hammer like it was nothing to her and strode back over to her desk. Super nonchalant. Like nothing had happened. Just another day's work.
Let out some pent up aggression. ... dude...should he be nervous now? Did Cutty have some pent up aggression and would he snap once he drank the potion? He raised an eyebrow at him. Dude you got some serious issues... Kevin did not have any pent up aggression himself. He just was a bit agressive ... like a lion rawr!
The second year walked with the Slytherin towards the High Striker. Making sure to leave a bit of space between them because of his comment earlier. Kevin still wondered if he had spoken his feelings or if it was just a saying... he folded his arms as he watched him pick up the hammer and hit the High Striker. The force looked amazing from someone concidering his body type but he didn't hear a bell ring. "Let me try" he said and grabbed a hammer.
He spread his legs to stand in a better position and swung the hammer over his head but he used a bit too much of his strength and the fact that his hands were a little sweaty , made him let loose of the handle of the hammer and he watched it CRAAAAAASH in to the High Striker. ".....woah..oops?" The High Striker was okay though. Not a scratch...and the Gryffindor was pretty sure that was because of magic.
Cutty watched the Gryffindor boy handle the High Striker. And when the hammer hit the pounding surface he saw how high the bell ringer went. Was it purely the potion doing the walking or was some of that Hirase. He had a way of standing, Hirase did, like he'd done this sort of thing before. Like he was an experienced handler of sledge hammers.
The Slytherin boy let out a laugh at the simple response triggered by Hirase's rough handling. He imagined the boy would say that sort of thing even if the outcome had been sooo much worse. It pleased him.
He reached for the hammer to have another go and his large eyes widened as he realized the moisture present on it's handle. Still grinning, he looked at the boy and said, "Eww!", but clearly he thought it amusing. He readjusted his posture so that one leg was a bit more forward than the other before he brought that sledge down on the striker with as much force as he could've gotten between the posture and the contact.

He looked around the classroom to see how far everyone else seemed to be with the activity. Most of all, he was trying to avoid talking about the game he just won. He could tell that his potion must not have been as powerful as Bay's was.
Bay was trying his hardest to push Zanders arm to the desk.. but he just couldn't and before he knew it Zander had smashed Bay's hand into the desk.. "wow and ouch mate" he said while rubbing his hand to get some feeling back.
Looking around he tried to see what everyone else was doing "i don't know?" he shrugged his shoulders in confirmation.
OH YEAH!!! Kyroh GRINNNED at the man. Full force, teeth showing, eyes almost closed and everything. The hurt look on the Professors face went completely unnoticed by the first year.
Pssh. Empathy? Yeah right.
His grin did falter though when the man kept talking. Instead Kyroh stared up at him completely confused by his words. "A sissy?" Uhhhhh. "Isn't that what people call their sisters? I don't have a sister sir. Plus i'm a boy." Yeah. Didn't he LOOK like a boy? Did Culloden want proof?
Aww. Culloden was sighing. Kyroh jumped off his chair and made his way over to the Professor. Without much thought he wrapped his arms around the mans stomach. LOOK hug! Okay? Don't be sad. "I'll still play with you Professor! Don't be sad!" Also. "I think I can still beat you without the potion anyways. I'm pretty strong." He was! GRRRRR!
Oh, look how happy the boy seemed - and he didn't even KNOW what 'sissy' meant! Well, Cosgrach wasn't going to corrupt the kid, so he shrugged. "Well, that's what I hoped -" that he was a boy -
A hug! He got a hug!
Cosgrach couldn't help but laugh, and he might have petted him back. He was one good-hearted fella, wasn't he? And he was a Ravenclaw. Cosgrach would speak to Sophie to take him under her wings.
"Okay, then," he said back - see, his authority was being questioned here, but all the kids seemed to be having fun with the potion, and he didn't want to miss a chance to show Kyroh he sometimes had to drink potions.
Oh, and he also liked games.
So, heading towards a desk, he sat down. "I doubt about that," he was just eleven and Cosgrach was forty-one, "but you can use both of your hands. Unless, you want to try the high striker, of course." Of course. Did he? Cosgrach could get up.

He was going to try to make her laugh and lose concentration?
Jasmine suppressed a smile that came out looking like a smirk. "Really dude? That's all you've got?" Looking at Cris with his lips all pouty was funny, but not funny enough to push her over the edge. Jasmine knew a way to end this match real quick, but no.........she couldn't do that. "So you're making this a face off, eh?" Surely she couldn't make Cris laugh with a bad pun so she went with the silliest face she could think of. Taking a deep breath, puffing out her cheeks and bugging out her eyes, Jasmine was sure she looked crazy. This was a rather hard face to pull while still trying to push Cris's arm down. Were they going to have to call this one a draw?
Was that a pun? Cris cracked a smile at Jasmine's attempt at one. He had to admit that it was kind of appropriate. "Maybe...maybe..," he grinned back at her as he flexed his muscles again and pushed downward on Jasmine's delicate wrist. The muscles in both in wrist and arm, not to mention his bones, were beginning to ache. If either of one didn't do something to end this stalemate, Cris suspected that they would have trouble later using their wrestling arm to accomplish simple tasks like writing or even eating.
Cris most certainly didn't relish writing with his left hand, so when Jasmine began to assume a comical face, he knew he had to do something to change the status quo. Without any warning, he stood up, clasped her fingers with his and smiled.
"I'm conceding this round to you. Why don't we head on over to the hammer, instead and try it out just for fun," he coaxed her to follow him.

See? Hugs made everything better.
The Professor was laughing and Kyroh didn't know why. It didn't matter though because he DIDN'T have to drink the potion!
Letting go of the Professor, Kyroh clenched his first in triumph.
But he COULD beat him in arm wrestling. Kyroh really could. Maybe. "I'll try that thing!" Kyroh answered pointing to the Muggle contraption. He had seen Dima do it so he could too right? Running over to the high striker, Kyroh picked up the hammer.
It was heavy. That was for sure. Heaving it over his shoulder the Ravenclaw took a deep breath before swinging down, placing his whole bodyweight behind the hammer. The mark went up, but it only just crossed the first line. "LOOK it moved!" See? He was so strong, already! Not car lifting strong but still. Kyroh could definitely be a superhero. "You try!" The Professor couldn't do better than him. No way.

He was older and had practice with waaay more potions than she had in her time. It really was just bad luck that Adi's potion was most likely better than hers therefore it made her stronger than him. At least that was her theory as to why this was taking place.
Adi was not having any luck with pushing her arm back down so she mustered up all of her strength once again and pushed as hard as her little hands would allow her. She could see Adi's are going down, but was it enough?
WHY in the world was AJ's hand not budging? O_o It was then it occurred to Adi that it had to do with the potion. Was his potion somehow stronger than his? That could be the only explanation...
Anyway, here he was, a struggling third year trying to beat a first year girl. And to his surprise and amusement, his hand was going towards the workstation's surface again! Adi tried to push AJ's hand back up but to no avail until...THUD! His hand hit the workstation. He was defeated!
Well..."Congrats, AJ,'' Adi said, smiling at his little friend. She beat him, so what? It had to be that he brewed his potion better. That was the only logical explanation.

Oh. Of course. Cosgrach got up and laaaazily followed the boy to it. His eyes surveyed the class once to make sure everything was in order before he focused on little boy and laughed again at his effort.
"It did, yeah! You're so strong already!" Clearly didn't need a potion, nope. Cosgrach briefly considered not giving all his strength, but then again, he wasn't that nice.
So he lifted the hammer (was it really this heavy) and drawing a half circle with it to heave it over his shoulder, he hit with all his force and it crossed the third line.
Oh.
He looked at Kyroh then with a challenging look. Could he do better?
Something amazing? Hm "Go on, amaze me, Kinsley." she said, smirking and folding her arms in a deliberate show of 'go on then...'
... Hmmm. Okay. He did that. It was kiiiiiiind of impressive. Though it would've been more impressive if he didn't have a potion running through his veins. Psh.
"Okay, okay. Bring it on." she said, grabbing the hammer and lifting it up.
.......
DINGDINGDINGDINGDING
HA! "Ah come on, that wasn't hard." she said, giving him a grin. Psh , thinking he was all that...
