of Professor Abraham Botros

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...ps41706149.jpg

After being allowed to walk through the two polished doors, you're most likely to be welcomed by professor Botros' Crup, Feo. The office is relatively larger than expected, with bookshelves lining the walls, along with artifacts, figures of runes of all alphabets (duh), and several copies of The Pocket-hanky Ultimate Board. To the right and right after you see a basket with a bunch of walking canes inside, there is a small coffee table with a bunch of rolls and parchment on top, a vase of red roses is always perched up too and professor Botros sometimes is seen watering or wiping their leaves gently with his hands. Next to that coffee table is a higher stool with nothing hovering over it anymore.

There are two elegant chairs facing each other and placed right in front of the main desk in the room where you're supposed to sit once Ab ushers you to do so. His desk is as tidy as it is crowded with parchments, books, his spare glasses, and colorful pieces of clothes that you soon will discover it's an unfolded pocket-hanky. To the far end of the desk, safely away from the guests, sit several family muggle pictures of a young man with glasses, and a young woman leaning against that young man. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that this is professor Botros fifty years ago, and then him with his beautiful wife.

On the back of the big door, there is a new parchment with a cute doodle on it. It's the first student souvenir Ab brought from one of his 'kids', to the side of that paper hanging a small piece of wood, and then a pendant shaped as a box with some dust inside. Recently, there's a letter in runic alphabet stuck on the door as well.

OOC: please do not post in here until after posting in the seating area thread and being invited in by the professor himself. Posting in here without an invitation will result in deleting your post, and you getting a frowny face from me.

When the knocks were heard, the Crup raced towards the door, Ab flicked his wand to open it just in time for Feo to prance on whoever was waiting at the threshold. "Come in!"

One second the door was opening, and the next...

"Feo!"

Awww, this little crup! Toby crouched down to give the creature a proper hello, scratching behind his ears and generally making a fuss over him. He had heard Botros calling him in, though, and didn't want to delay the chat for too long. "C'mon boy," said the Hufflepuff to the crup, and straightened before heading into the office.

It didn't take long to spot Professor Botros, who was now back to his old self. Toby gave a small grin.

"Hi Professor."

Feo licked the heck out of Tempus, if he had his tail on, it would've been wagging like crazy. Botros watched the boy with a broad smile, walk into the office and close the door behind him. His Crup was jumping behind him, woofing excitedly. "Hello, Toby, it's great to see you." All young and healthy and energetic. The old man got out from behind his desk and went to sit on the seat opposite of Tempus, this wasn't a student-professor meeting, this was their friendly beginning-of-term ritual chat.

The teapot was making tea, and cups and toasters were floating about. "Got new tea set this term. Would you like some herbal tea?" His middle-eastern herbal tea must've been commonly known around the castle now, he'd been offering it to anyone who set foot in his office.

There was a time when Toby might have refused an offer of herbal tea, but he'd been in this office enough times to know how good it was and so nodded as he relaxed in his seat.

"That'd be awesome, thanks sir," the Hufflepuff grinned, still giving little Feo the attention he was clearly after. Not that it bothered Toby at all, because he UNDERSTOOD the energy thing, see? He could empathise with the crup (which was... strange but he accepted it). Plus Feo was cute as heck so y'know.

But yeah. "New tea set?" Toby turned his attention to the tea set in question. In all honestly, he never really paid much attention to the last one. His brain was far too flighty for little details, but still. "Is it good one? Does it do the job well?"

Toby beamed brightly, a proverbial ray of sunshine.

The third year walked into the very super nice professors office. "Thank you for the welcome." Emmylou beamed at him. She loved people that were nice, there needed to be more nice people in the world. "This office reminds me of the study in my house back home." Emmylou was actually really happy about this, there really weren't any places around here that reminded her of home and she was glad that there was at least.

Botros' face brightened when Tempus NOTICED the new tea set. "Yes. It was a gift, a student of mine was appointed chairman of the Runology department in Italy campus." Pride was visible on his face as he spoke. It was the pleasure he took after all those years teaching this tricky field, when one of his students go far with it - farther than he did. "He knows I practically run on tea, so it was a nice gesture of him." The endearing looks Botros gave the tea set must've made it obvious.

"How did your summer go?"

"I've had this office for thirty years, if I remember correctly." He chuckled and made himself comfortable on the big armchair behind the desk. "Please take a seat. I brought magnificent tea with me this summer." She got to try it with him.

While the tea set arranged itself and the teapot boiled, they would chat a little about her. "Have you taken any Runes courses in your former education curricula, then?" Probably not, she looked too young for extra curricula.

See, this approach was a lot easier on Nigel then them opening the door and suddenly offering you a danish. That was just random. Though the danish was pretty good. Okay, there were the welcoming words. Nigel walked into Botros office thinking about what to say. It always sounds better in your head.

"Hello. Professor Botros." Nigel said taking a seat in the surprisingly comfortable chair. "I just have some questions about how Curse Breaking and Runes Relate"

That is better than saying Post Hogwarts Stuff.

Botros was looking from under his reading glasses at the door, waiting for the newcomer to reveal themselves. "Ah, Prefect Barrington." What a pleasant surprise. He didn't recall the boy ever coming for him before. A few glowing rememberalls were glowing red on his desk, and so the old professor rolled them into his drawer, a bit bitterly.

Right into business, eh? Ab chuckled and removed his spectacles, leaning back on his armchair. "Curse breaking. Well, we've had an introduction to that last term, if you remember. Runes is a required NEWT if you wish to pursue curse-breaking after school. Curses vary majorly, runology helps you with those anchored by runic magic. They allow you to break them, pretty much the way we learnt only much more complicated and--" He thought for a good word. "--flexible. You need to have a good grasp on the runes and what they dictate in every circumstance possible to be able to use them against the curse."

Pause.

"Are you thinking about getting into Gringotts, Mr. Barrington?" Botros smiled at the kid boy.

Emmylou looked around his office, there was something about this old feel look that she liked about this office well not only the office but also the seating area. It made Emmylou feel like she was back at home in Alabama. The blonde smiled and took a seat. "You must have been teaching here for a long time then?" she didn't say that to be rude because she would rather have a older, wiser and more experienced professor than some new professor that didn't know what they were talking about or how to be around kids. Tea?! Emmylou was a huge tea fan, she had tried coffee once but she didn't think it tasted as yummy as tea. "What kind of tea?" Emmylou loved all different kinds of tea but her favorite had to be English Breakfast Tea.

Emmylou shook her head, she knew a little bit about Runes. Her grandmother would talk about it every time she was there but Emmylou didn't like how her grandmother tried to teach it so she never really picked to much up. "My Nana Duchannes always tries to teach me about Runes but she's way to strict and emotionless when she teaches it to me and uncle." Emmylou wondered how she would mention having an uncle that was the same age as her. She knew that it had to be very confusing.

Yeah, right to business. Nigel was not one that was great at small talk. He either said something stupid or made it incredibly awkward. Why not just get to the point and they can be on their separate ways faster. He was such a Claw.

Nigel nodded at the the first question. Yeah, he remembered that lesson and that was one of his goals this term to get a NEWT in Ancient Runes. Among other classes. Now this information was new and extreme useful. Nigel nodded also listening intently. That sounded like a tiny bit of a challenge for some future library work. Complicated and flexible. Definitely going to study that. If it interested Nigel. He would put in the work plus extra. "Is the material to study this in the library?"

Very interesting.

Ah, that question. "Yeah. I interned there a couple years ago and got interested in it. Not because it is dangerous. But because of the skill needed."

Though the threat that if your skill were not sharp, you could die. Is appealing also.

"That's dead nice of him, sir," Tobias agreed brightly, fidgeting around slightly in his chair to get comfortable. Once he seemed to have found the right position, he resumed his constant motion by tapping his fingers rapidly on his knee. He seemed, if it was at all possible, to be even more energetic than ever before.

He looked at the tea set once more, and then beamed at Professor Botros again. "My summer was brilliant. Way better than last last summer. Soph, my best friend, came to visit me for the day. Do you know Sophie Brown? She's a Ravenclaw." Surely he did, surely everyone knew who Soph was. "And I got accepted onto the England Under-17s Quidditch team. Keeper."

Toby faltered at that, because thinking about Quidditch was painful. But he didn't dwell on it right now, and soon his expression was bright again. "And I ran into Forrest Charlton in Diagon Alley. He's my best mate. My first best mate. But he doesn't go to Hogwarts anymore. And when Soph visited me in Brighton, we saw Professor Fuller and Professor Thompson. They're my neighbours." The Hufflepuff drew breath and beamed enthusiastically, pausing in his exuberantly telling Botros of his summer tales. "What about you, Professor? Did you go to Egypt, or...?"

It was Egypt right? And Botros was the one that went there? Tobias vaguely remembered him mentioning something about it last year. Maybe? Or was that Cutty? Or both? In any case, they could both speak a language he didn't know at all.

Botros chuckled and shook his head, a little apologetically at her. "Not that long. This would be my fifth year here." Not nearly as long as his grey hair might suggest to her, which was not offending or insulting to the professor at all. Not even that dinosaur's sign one student had stuck in his waiting area during his first term. It was pretty difficult to insult an old man after everything he'd seen and experienced during his loooong life. Heh.

What kind of tea? He beamed at her as the cups floated towards them, one for her and one for him. "Herbal tea. I hope you like it?" The sugar pot hovered in front of the girl in case she needed to add any. Did the professor look too happy with his new tea set? Good. He was pretty proud of it!

Oooh, she seemed to have quite an unfortunate teacher at Runes then. If the grand-daughter called her grandmother emotionless, then it must be pretty bad. And apparently her uncle was still learning the subject? That wasn't very promising. "I'm sorry to hear that." About her grandmother's teaching techniques. "We take an easy route here in Hogwarts when it comes to Ancient Runes. You should know, first and foremost, that no matter how hard you find the subject, your efforts will be rewarded fairly." So, basically, she didn't have to worry about the results as much as trying to do her best.

In Hogwarts' library? Uhh. This was a tough question. "I'm sure you'll find a wide range of what you need in certain sections. You'll need Mr. Kitridge's assitance with that, though." Botros scratched his bald scalp, next and looked sideways at the bookshelves lining the walls of his office. "I doubt that you'd find anything about the details of that field, though. You need a guide to recommend a book for you and then tell you where to get it. Most of my curse-breaking books are from the rare collection in WU in Cairo." He offered as a tip.

Aaah. That made sense. "Well, I think you'd be good at it." The old man offered the Prefect a kind, encouraging smile. "You are brilliant in my class, Mr. Barrington, I don't see why this wouldn't work for you." If he was really interested in Gringotts.

The boy didn't seem to lose any of his energy as he grew older. This was both lovely and noteworthy.

The boy's summer seemed to be much more interesting that Botros'. The fact that Tempus told him in details about his adventures was very heartwarming, and Ab smiled widely at that. If this didn't bring him memories with his grandkids, nothing else did. Sophie Brown? The old man needed a little more than just a moment to remember which kid this one was. "Oh! yes, sure, she came by my office to investigate about Runes once. She's a lovely kid." She always greeted Botros even though he wasn't technically her professor yet. Very polite, Ab approved of this friendship. Go ahead kids and play together in the playground with his blessings.

"That's such wonderful news, dear. Congratulations!" For the Quidditch news. But then they moved quickly to another summer story, Botros did his best to keep up with the names. He'd heard Sophie, but Forrest? Never heard of him. Ab still nodded like it was such great news. "Oh really? That's very interesting." He hadn't even known that Fuller and Thompson lived together... or had he? He should make those notes about his colleagues' personal lives, he kept mixing things up! Maybe Tempus would help him...??? Actually. He should assign it as an extra activity. Points motivated people, right? Right.

Anyway. His summer. "It was very good. Same old same old, as they say. Gathered with the family back in Egypt. Everyone's growing so fast, they're all so beautiful and motivated. Just like you kids over here." There were proud tears in his eyes.

"I figured" One step forward, one step back. That was basically Nigel's week in a nutshell right now. Botros was right. Probably some basic understanding of it was in the library here and of course all the stuff he need would be in Cairo. They did have a magnificent library, in Nigel's opinion. "Ah, Cairo. I was there over the summer visiting the University for a couple days, just to get a better idea of the whole profession."

It went surprisingly well. He was not even sweating the small things, like actually getting accepted or anything. No worries. He still had a tiny bit of time. "Thank You, Professor" Maybe he just needed a little confidence. Like that John Lennon quote about being a egomaniac.

Bazinga 05-29-2014 12:12 AM

Cassie looked at her best friend in amusement, a bribe? Why hadn't she thought of that. Snaps for Nessa. After knocking she went to sit down next to the brunette, but heard a voice from behind the door. "Ooooh come in, we can go in." She grinned and turned on her heel back towards the door. "If he says know perform for him. That will change his mind." She did wear her tap shoes, so why not use them for something fun.

Turning the door and opening it the blondes eyes widened at the parchment. "Wow" always amazed by runes she moved a bit closer. "Professor Botros hello." Grinning and waving. She moved to one side of him knowing Nessa would take the other. "How are you on this fine day?" The fine day was pretty chilly, but the blonde would never complain. "I hope you don't mind us stopping by, but we have something super duper important to ask you. It will totes be worth your time."

Grinning towards Nessa she'd let her do the rest of the talking. It was after all her sign that matched up to his pretty well. *giggles*

emjay 05-29-2014 03:59 PM

Oh! Come in already? Nessa grinned as she quickly hopped up from her seat. She was already excited about their proposal but they didn't even have to wait any longer.. he was already in. The brunette let out a melodic little laugh at her friend's suggestion. "Oh that could work too.. or maybe a combination.." She just knew she could dazzle the man if need be.. or even if it wasn't necessary. Maybe she'd do a little number just because. Who didn't appreciate that?

Still beaming, she tapped her way inside. "Hiii Professor!" Or was that too formal? He was her colleague of course, but also her elder, so she wasn't completely sure but wanted to be respectful. Nessa moved to the other side of the man, allowing Cassie to engage in some niceties before it was her cue to speak. "Oh we do have something to ask you," she nodded in agreement. "Something simply delightful.. See, we wanted to have a staff Christmas party. Cassie and I are so excited to plan one for our new coworkers. And you know, Christmas just isn't complete without a Santa Claus." Or Father Christmas or whatever they were called. She looked to Cassie and giggled a bit before turning back to Botros. "Would you be willing to indulge us?" She gave him the most charming smile she could possibly muster.

Oh and the thoughts of Christmas and gifts sparked her memory. She did have something for him, maybe she should have started with that. "And that reminds me!" She dug through her tote bag for the item she was looking for.

"We take an easy route here in Hogwarts when it comes to Ancient Runes. You should know, first and foremost, that no matter how hard you find the subject, your efforts will be rewarded fairly." So, basically, she didn't have to worry about the results as much as trying to do her best.

Emmylou blinked and turned a medium pink color. Had she just called him old? Emmylou had hoped that it didn't come out that way but Emmy looked at him and he didn't seem so offended by her comment. She really had to use her words differently. "Five years, that's still a very long time." Five years had been a long time because she was little little five years ago and now she was thirteen and pretty much a big girl now. She had gotten corrected by one professor and she had just pretty much called a professor old without even meaning. It didn't matter whether he was offended or not because Emmylou wanted to make people feel important and happy she didn't want them to feel hurt or low.

The blonde beamed at the tea, she had never tried herbal tea before, her father and grandmother always loved to serve Peach tea or Earl Grey tea, she liked the peach tea better because the earl grey tea had a strange taste to her. "Mmm, I've never tried herbal tea before." Emmylou smiled and noticed the floating sugar bowl, she took two spoonfuls of sugar and put it in her tea and stirred. She loved sugar...too much. If there was no candy or sugar then it would be the end of the world. "I really like this tea set! Did you just get it?" Emmylou was a tea person or starting to become a tea person so she was curious about anything that had to do with tea.

The third year studied the professors facial expression, he seemed shocked when she had told him about her grandmother and uncle. Emmy thought that it would be good to clear up the uncle issue. "I guess my uncle and I had the same learning ability." Or whatever it was called. Though Emmylou had found it strange that her uncle was at Hogwarts as well but he wasn't sorted into the same house as she was. "Actually, my uncle is the same age as me." Emmylou didn't care if someone asked to know or not but the looked on the professors face made it see like she should at the very least explain so he didn't think her grandmother was a horrible horrible teacher. "I wish more professor taught like that." She smiled but she also knew that there was always that one student that ruined it for the rest.

He was in Cairo last summer? "Aw. Had I known you were there I would've tagged along. I know a lot of people who could help you there." Botros taught at Cairo WU for at least fifteen years if his memory served him right. "Not to worry, though. You seem to be aware of what you want and how to get it. If you need any further assistance, I'll be here." Should he offer the big boy an encouraging arm-rub? Hmm? He was sitting all the way over there, though, so Botros just gave him a I-believe-in-you nod.

*giggles*

She just knew she could dazzle the man if need be.. or even if it wasn't necessary.

Botros looked up from his parchment when he heard squeaking girls' voices. It must be one of the youngsters who were too excited about runes.

Oh. No. No, it wasn't. Ab swallowed his shock that their tiny blonde new colleague had such a girly tiny voice and smiled politely at her. "Good day, professors." He said, sounding too hoarse all of a sudden.

One blonde squeaky woman to his left, and the other brunette less-squeaky woman to his right.

OKay, okay, okay, what was going on? Botros swallowed, and looked from Professor Morgan to Glendower alternatively. They had soemthing to ask him? Was it runes-related? He'd be much less nervous if it was...

... no. They wanted him to be a significant figure in their Christmas party? He couldn't help but let out a small laugh. "Whew, you scared me for a moment there." Hah hah hah hah. But wait, about the Santa Clause. Botros leaned back in his armchair and rubbed his chin. "That sounds..." Oooh, professor Glendower seemed to be looking for something. Okay, he'd wait for that!

Polite, shy little kids reminded him that this world was still a beautiful place. He was getting mushier the older he became. Merlin. And she thought five years were a very long time? Aww, Botros chuckled and... nodded at her. Merely to indulge her, not because he was agreeing with her necessarily. "Five years are long when you’re this young, yes.” They were nothing in his eighty plus years of age.

Never had herbal tea before? “Oh you must come visit more often, then!” He’d insist on it. Botros took a sip from his own and waited for her to take a sip as well, anticipating her reaction. It was always refreshing and sweet to watch first-timers try their tea, or their rune reading or rune evoking... etc. Oh she noticed the tea set! He beamed, a little too much, and nodded. "It's new. I got it from an old student of mine. I think I taught him thirty years ago or something like that, and now he occupies a significant position in the ministry and he sent me this tea set." It always made his heart swell with pride when old students of his recognized his efforts for them when they were young.

Her uncle was the same age as she was?? Oh that reminded him of the old Egyptian families and their tangled ties. He smiled and nodded, finally understanding some of her story. "So is he here with you in Hogwarts?" Same house probably? "All our professors are splendid with their teaching processes. Some might seem a bit... odd, but they were splendid nonetheless." Ab was proud of every young professor here in this school, and the young red hair leading them with a slightly more sass and pink than needed.

Her eyes were sparkling like Christmas lights from her excitement as Nessa talked about what they were there for. She bounced her eyes between her best friend and the Runes professor. He would do it wouldn’t he? She took her little frame and sat on the corner of his desk hoping he wouldn’t mind. Placing her elbow on her knee and her head on her hand all interested in what was going on. She didn’t want to miss a moment of him becoming their Santa Claus. It would just be so Perf!

Giggles came from her as she looked at him curiously. “Scared you? Oh goodness I don’t know how Nessa and I could scare you Proessor Botros.” He was much older and much taller than them. They wouldn’t have much of a chance to do anything scary she didn’t think.

He was going to answer, this was what she was waiting on. Leaning a little closer to get his answer she almost fell off the desk as he hesitated. What was he looking at? Her green eyes went to Nessa, oh she was looking for something. She had said something about a bribe. Her snapping had to happen, because the excitement was just taking over. “You would be such an adorbs Santa. Everyone will just love that special touch.” She snapped some more. He would do it, he just had to. The party wouldn’t be as perfect without him.

Nessa pulled a fancy, feathery plume from her bag with a flourish. The feather went from deep pink to red with a few flecks of gold throughout and a nib at the end, and she presented it to the older man with a bow. "For yoouuu, Mr. Botrosss," she said dramatically before raising upright again. "A fwooper quill, of course," she beamed. "They are rather rare, but my Ophelia generously spared a few feathers and I wanted you to have one. Think of it as an early Christmas gift." And Ophelia was just the sweetest to give some feathers away so she could make the quills. Now... he would be their Santa, yes?

Emmylou listen to the professor, she was a person that made eye contact and nodded, that was the way her daddy had taught her. Eye contact was everything and it made you focus more on what the other person was saying. That made sense to her, five years was a long time to someone of her age but it must be different when you're older. "So five years is longer for someone who someone like the same age as a seventh year?" She just wanted to make sure of something before the subject was changed.

"I will most definitely come back here for tea!" Emmy smiled and nodded, she would loved to visit this professor more often, he just seemed so awesome! "At my house we mostly drink sweet tea. Have you ever had it?" She loved sweet tea but if she had the choice she would just drink unsweetened hot tea or slightly sweetened hot tea but that was just her, that was one of the things that made her different from some of her family members. "That must be the greatest feeling in the world to have one of your former students do that for you." Emmylou kind of knew the feeling when she would help her dad out at charity events. The third year was starting to think that being a professor would be an amazing job one day.

The blonde beamed when he didn't judge family or say rude comments when he found out that her uncle was the same age as her. Her family was confusing but they meant well. "Yes he does, he got sorted into Slytherin!" Emmylou was happy to have a family member here at the school with her but he was more of a loner than Emmy was. "Do most of the professors personalities go with what subject they teach?" She had always wanted to know about that.

Oh Merlin, he definitely saw why Mrs. Truebridge hired those two. They seemed to be of the same woman-y nature, albeit a bit more squeaky and... bubbly. Their headmistress was not bubbly. Botros chuckled with the two, still nervous with all the happiness and rainbows and giggles. "Uhh, I didn't mean it in that-- actually, never mind. My bad."

The beautiful plume, though, that got his attention. The old man pushed his glasses up on his nose and took it from professor Glendower. "My my. This is a beautiful present, I thank you, professor." He spoke slowly, all attention on his early Christmas present.

Anyway, did they want him to be their 'Santa'? "I gather that you want me to impersonate the muggle's idea of Santa, then?" He was a pureblood wizard but having lived for over eighty years made that fact less important, he was now as familiar with muggles and their lives as he'd ever been with wizards. "I will see what I can do." He assured them with a smile. "The Christmas party sounds very heartwarming and lovely. I don't recall I've been to a staffer party that doesn't involve us asking for money." Botros chuckled nervously. "Here, let me write it down so I won't forget." He grabbed a quill (an old one) and a parchment and scribbled down some notes then set it to the side of his desk.

Oh she seemed pretty determined to get this age matter figured out. Botros nodded slowly, "Yes. It even matters less when the person is around eighty years old." He chuckled, pointing at himself. Wow, he didn't feel like he was eighty. Like, yes, his knees had been pretty troublesome in the past five years, and yeah he had a set of potions that he needed to take for health reasons, but other than that he felt right as rain.

Aw how sweet of her to ask whether or not he'd tried something. Botros nodded at her with a small smile. "Of course I did. I'm very fond of tea, I can go as far as saying that it is my favorite drink of all time." Coming from him, it did mean a lot. Heh. "And you're always welcome here, dear." As long as she was this polite and mannered, Botros didn't mind talking and hanging out with students.

"Aah, most of my daughters were sorted into Slytherin." He offered helpfully, his smile not faltering. Her question sounded a bit sudden, but the professor didn't mind giving it a thoughtful moment or two. He didn't want to give her an inaccurate answer, even though there was no such thing as accurate answer to that sort of assumption. "I'm not sure the subjects dictate that one should be this way or that way. Teaching something you find enjoying and deeply love is the secret to being an efficient and excellent professor." He nodded, pleased with his answer. "Why? Are you considering teaching as your career in the future?" His face beamed at her as he sipped from his tea.

She watched as Nessa gave her presents. Oh pretty, this had to make him say yes, wouldn’t it? She really hoped it would. They had to have a jolly Santa at their party and there was just no other person that could play him, but this man right there in front of her. Not being the patient one she flapped her foot a bit as she stayed perched on his desk.

“Yes.. yes of course. We think you will make the most magnificent Santa.” He will be brilliant she could see it. “They party is going to be so much fun. It’s for the staff and we want to have the Elves make food, because we aren’t that great at it.” Actually they used stoves for shoe racks, so they weren’t knowledgeable when it came to cooking. She watched eagerly as he thought it over then said he would see what he could do. Did that mean he would? “Oh Abraham you will be brilliant at it. The most handsome Santa ever.” Flattery couldn’t hurt so she was going to use it.

“Oh not this party. We just want something fun for all the staff. Plus we love planning parties it was a great opportunity that just couldn’t be passed up.” Watching as he started writing it down. Eeeep! This meant he was doing it she just knew it. Happy Snapping was certainly happening.

He nodded, pleased with his answer. "Why? Are you considering teaching as your career in the future?" His face beamed at her as he sipped from his tea.

Emmylou was very determined to get down to the whole age thing. She didn't know why she was so interested in the professors age but she did have this weird thing for want to know or trying to guess someones age. She had been like that since she was very little. Eighty? Emmylou had a hard time believing that the professor was that old. there was no way. "Nah, you're not even that old." She shook her head and smiled. Even if he was that old he looked younger than eighty in Emmylou's eyes.

The blonde smile and tucked her hair behind her ears. "Have you ever tried sun tea? You put it in a glass pitcher with water and set tea bags into it?" Emmylou would make sun tea all the time with her Aunt Raeanne, she missed making it. Emmylou would have to make it the next time she was with her aunt. "My Aunt Raeanne would slice some lemons and put them in the tea. Sometimes she would put blueberries in there too." It was honestly the best. The third year smiled when he said that she was always welcome here.

Emmylou took a sip from her tea while she listened to him speak. He had daughters. Emmylou still hadn't really met many Slytherin's but she was pretty sure that not all of them were mean and that there were some nice ones. The third year had heard a lot of good and bad about that house. Emmylou smiled at him when he told her his answer about personalities and the classes that professors teach. Why was she thinking about teaching in the future? Emmy knew this answer pretty well. "I've always had an open eye for learning and I know that there are other students out there that love to learn too. Once I'm older and wiser I want to be able to give people my knowledge but I also want to change some peoples lives with what I know, even if it's only one student that I get through to." Emmylou was the kind of person that no matter what she would always want to help people in some way, shape or form.

Nessa kept her brown eyes on the older gentleman as he took Ophelia's beautiful feather turned writing instrument from her and she slowly smiled. Oh, he just loved it, didn't he? But who wouldn't, it was simply stunning! "Oh, you're so welcome, Abraham!" she exclaimed with a beaming smile as she clasped her hands together, pleased with his approval. "I'm so glad you like it." But she still anxiously awaited his answer to their question. Even if he said no, she was still happy to give him the quill, but please say yes!

She glanced over at Cassie as she confirmed that he would indeed be the most perfect Santa at the party, nodding enthusiastically to show her agreement. "We absolutely do want you as our Santa.. of course!" Who else could it possibly be? Nessa gave Cassie another look, this time one of surprise. "Money? Oh no, no, no.. this party is just for fun!" She wouldn't dream of asking for money, especially not at a holiday party. Though she supposed that fundraising parties could be fun too. She had attended a few silent auctions that were very posh. She watched him jotting down the information and she grinned hopefully. "So that means you'll do it?" Eeep! He just had to!

A memo in the shape of a paper plane glides gracefully through the crack beneath the door, before exercising a smooth landing on the Professor's desk.

SPOILER!!: Memo!

Dear Colleagues,

It has come to my attention that we are not communicating effectively enough where student behaviour is concerned. I for one would appreciate any and all feedback regarding the Gryffindors should issues concerning their behaviour, well being or academic progress arise. I ask this so that as Gryffindor Head of House, and Deputy Headmisstress I may assist in supporting you by monitoring and managing concerns regarding the students under my care.

Please don't hesitate to contact me directly, or indirectly via memo or owl.

Kind regards,
Seren Bentley
