Muggle Studies Lesson One {into the Kitchens!} From the first floor, Professor Hadley leads the way down to the kitchens where we'll get started with the main portion of the lesson, which is very hands-on (basically meaning that discussion shall happen whilst you work!) Spread out on each of the five tables are various workstations that were pre-set before you arrived. By each workstation consisted of: a pizza stone and french rolling pin. Along with various food items: a jar of red pasta sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, olive oil, garlic salt, dried oregano, sugar, yeast, salt, and flour. And of course measuring spoons and cups, along with the necessary bowls. "First things first, we need to make the dough. Now I don't normally recommend using magic in this class, but I'll make an exception for getting the necessary amount of water, you may use the aguamentis charm." "Which ingredients do you think we need at your workstation for making the dough?" Lesson Progression {for this thread anyway}
|
Tag followed Hadley to the kitchens and then, yes, he bounced on his feet when he saw all the ingredients on the tables. PIZZA! YES! Excellent. Tag was getting practice in. He glanced at the ingredients and then listened to what the question was. What did they need for the dough making. He was so excited for this. Yep. This would be the best class ever. "I think we're gonna need the rolling pin, salt, water, sugar, yeast and flour. And all the measuring stuff as well." Tag was almost certain that's what they needed. And did she expect the sauce on as well when Hadley said 'dough'? Yes? No? "And the tomato sauce, if you wanna take it a step further into dough making." |
They were going to be making Pizza Awesome! This lesson just got an hundred times more interesting. Adi eyed the ingredients at the tables. Hmmm. What would they be needing for the dough? Flours was the obvious ingredient but he was certain there were other stuff that went into the dough. "Um...Flour, salt and yeast, Professor.'' At least he thought salt was one of the ingredients. Yeast was for sure though. |
Simon followed closely behind the Professor to the Kitchens as soon as he entered he glanced about the room. He saw the ingredients. They were making pizza? He exhaled a sigh of relief. Phew. He actually knew how to make that. Phew. He quickly made a note of each of the items that were there in his notebook. It'd be good to have it for later. So what did they need for the dough? Simon raised his hand. "Flour, olive oil, sugar, yeast, and salt. Also a rolling pin. " |
AJ followed the professor and the rest of the students to the kitchen. Once she arrived she immediately saw that they would be making pizza. YUM! Her mouth started to water just thinking about it. They were going to be using the aguamenti charm, and that was an added bonus because that was actually one spell that she had mastered. Thinking about the question that was asked, she raised her hand. "Flour, professor." That was essential yes? |
Arriving at the kitchen, Cris had barely had a chance to put his things down at one of the tables when Professor Hadley posed another question. Dough? What was required to make dough? Glancing over at the utensils provided plus the big pizza stone, Cris hazarded a guess that they would be making pizza today. Raising his hand, Cris replied,"i think you'd need flour, yeast, salt. How about spices, Professor, especially if you want the crust to have a certain distinct taste? And of course water." |
Pizza. That was all Ascanius saw when he walked in the room. A smirk rolled up on his lips and he looked around to see if he could spot his girlfriend. No doubt she would be thrilled about the latest development in class. Pizza was, y'know, kind of her thing. Anyway, he listened back in on class and didn't comment. Everyone else had the answers. No need to add in. |
Toby really would be zero help with this portion of the lesson. He was so monumentally awful at cooking as it took a lot more patience and focus than he tended to have. Tobias often moved from one activity to another, but now this was part of a CLASS he had no choice but to learn this stuff, so y'know, that was GOOD. But yeah, point was that he had nooooooooooo idea what ingredients they would need, so while his classmates offered answers to the question he merely eyed the ingredients at his workstation with great interest. So THIS would all turn into a pizza? That was wild. |
They were making pizza?? Based on the the ingredients and other stuff that was supplied, it seemed so. Yes, this was a good lesson. It was. Penelope was gonna just let the other students answer this question though. Tag got a grin - he understood like she did how awesome pizza was - and then Ascanius got one too when she spotted him - just because - and then her focus went to sorta listening to the answers others were giving. Sounded pretty accurate for the most part so far. |
Entering the kitchens, it looked like they wouldn't be baking cookies but pizza. Which Layla didn't really mind, as long as she could put her own ingredients on. Well, aside from the normal tomato sauce and cheese, of course. Healthy ingredients, of course. None of this pepperoni or any of that nonsense. Staring at the ingredients in front of her, Layla picked out two right off that would be used in a dough. "Aside from the water, I would use flour and yeast." Yep, yep. |
Hayden followed the group down to the kitchens. At least she knew where it was, because it was right by her common room. She was looking forward to the practical part of this class, because it didn't seem very hard. She'd helped a little bit in the kitchen at home, though her parents hadn't let her do too much. Maybe, when they were done, they'd even get to eat their creations. When they arrived, Hayden found an empty station and stood waiting for instructions. She didn't bother answering the question because several people had already said what she would have and there was no need to repeat the same things. She'd get her chance to answer something later. |
Oooh yummm pizza. Yep, definitely Zander kind of lesson. This is perfect. Hadley, it's like you read his mind. Quickly making his way to one of the workstations, the Gryffindor couriousily eyed the ingredients. His stomach let out a low grumble as he eyed the cheese. Looking around the room to make sure he was as sneaky as possible, the third year pinched a little of the shredded cheese and put it in his mouth. YUM. He then looked up as Hadley began speaking once more. Well Zander had never made pizza before... But he most certainly ate, many pizzas before. "Definitely the yeast and flour? Possibly sugar and salt?" Maybe... He wasn't sure. What did it matter anyways, it was all going to get eaten in the end! |
They were going to be making pizza? Freaking. YES. Having followed Hadley and the others down to the kitchens, the boy smirked a little as he looked around at the various ingredients. This class was starting to bump up in his likeness scale. Uh huh. This class was also dead important. This pizza making skill was dead important. If you knew how to make it well -- and had the effort to do so -- you could save yourself a loooooot of money. See? Dead useful. Grayson headed over towards a workstation and stood there. He did register the fact that Hadley had asked something about how to make the dough, a question that the Sassy Loony over there was aaaallll too eager to answer. Not wanting to repeat any of the answers, the fourth year looked around at his workstation instead. If this was anything like potions, he was going to make one great pizza. If not................ ...................... WELL. No magic involved apart from the Aguamenti Charm. Good. In case someone burnt something. How long would it take for someone to burn something? |
As Kace made his way into the kitchens, he saw the rolling pins and all the ingredients. He even saw the ovens preheated. He grinned and was so happy they were making pizza! His stomach growled and he put his hand over it. Sssshhh....stomach you will get food soon! As he made his way to the work station, he heard the professor ask a question. What ingredients do you need to make the pizza dough. Kace grinned and raised his hand to show some participation even though the answers were said perfectly by the others. "Professor I know you need the basic ingredient flour...and some salt and possibly some butter to spread over the dough?" He asked if he remembered correctly. |
Arriving at the kitchens, Jasmine took a look around. She noted the set up at the various workstations and all of the ingredients that were placed there. They were making pizza! Jasmine could not wait. The Professor wanted to know what they would need to make pizza dough and Jasmine looked over the ingredients. Clearly they needed flour, salt, yeast and water. Sugar was also a possibility. Since those ingredients had already been mentioned multiple times, Jasmine decided not to repeat the answer. |
Pizza They were going to make pizza. Could Nigel just watch, supervise, and get pizza at the end. It was better for everyone. He liked eating pizza and occasionally getting it for people who pester him for it. Why make it when you can wait and eat it. It is not like he did not have the money to afford a pizza on occasion. Nigel did not know anything other than pizza was amazing. So......yeah |
OOOOOO Pizza's one of Bay's favourite foods.. heee heeee.. and one of the foods that his parents didn't like him to eat… WATCH OUT MUM AND DAD IM A REBEL. he held back a snort as he gave a big smile.. Raising his hand he said "Professor i know for sure you need flour to make dough" see he knew this was one of his favourite classes. |
What did they need to make dough? Hmm. Caleb tried to think about the things that his parents kept in the kitchen...oh yeah, wasn't there something they had to add to make it all fluffy and whatnot? He raised his hand. "You need that yeast stuff to make the bread rise, don't you?" he said. Yes, he was certain that was a thing! |
Those ingredients.. Something Italian..... Was it.... were they making pizza? Oh yes they were. "Flour, yeast, salt.." Was the sugar for the dough or to mix in the sauce? While attempting to improve her cooking skills these past two summers, Schuyler HAD come across dishes that called for sugar in the sauce. Sooo... Yeah. She'd stick with those. |
PIZZA! Kyroh had made pizza before right? No. Maybe he was just thinking about eating it. Probably.....he had put TOPPINGS on it before eating it though so that was like making it. The boy raised his hand. RAISE. HIGH. HE KNEW THE ANSWER! "Pre-made dough." Yeah. "I mean that's not already here. But if it was, it would make pretty good dough." And cut the time in half and stuff. |
OH. MY. GOSH. They were going to make pizza today. One of Lux's favourite foods along with cucumber sandwiches and pasta. Standing by Bay and her friends, she eagerly raised her hand. "Definitely flour. There is also yeast, salt, and I think water too. Oh, and while it isn't an ingredient you also need a rolling pin so you can flatten out the dough." Was she missing anything? |
hOh, man, she was so glad she didn't decide to go somewhere else and skip the lesson. Caterina would be so devastated she'd passed the opportunity to make pizza. Granted, Lotus has even made chocolate pizza for Lex, and pepperoni pizza for Tag, Alec and Delilah. But, lol, no one knew this, so she should pretend not to know, right? Right, she was here for the pizza. And what better way to go unnoticed than to share places with Slytherins, yeah? So she did. Text Cut: Kita's boy, aka Grayson But now she was BEAMING, because her boyfriend knew this topic very well, and she couldn't help but bounce a little, she may have placed a hand on some boy's shoulder before speaking quietly to him, "I love pizza, do you?" Who was he, anyway? He seemed close in age to Oleander. All Nigel does is watch. #StartsRumors |
PIZZA????!!! o____O They're going to make Pizza? Cool! That mean no cakes like she originally thought. That's even more awesome. She's not allergic to pizza so she's good. Yup. Ingredients for making the dough? Flour definitely but some of her classmate already said flour so there's no need to repeat that again. Wait. Someone mentioned they need sugar for the dough? Was sugar really necessary? |
So we had a whole post all ready and then we lost it *pouts* Seeing some of the quiet ones, Fina realized she probably ought to add something else before she responded about the ingredients; "Just another quick rule; if you don't help prepare the food, you don't eat it." Glances toward you - Nigel, Penelope, Ascanius, Tobias, Lotus in particular Quote:

"So as some of you mentioned, we do use sugar in the dough. Not a lot, but it is there as an ingredient." They'll discuss the whys of each ingredient once they gather all the ingredients together and are waiting for it to rise. But first things first. "Before we begin, please come put on an apron and wash your hands." Their hands were disgusting and grimy and surely they didn't want to get sick from preparing food with dirty hands? She indicated towards the various sizes and coloured aprons that were hanging on the hook by the sink as she donned a yellow one herself. She then retied her hair back into her a low bun. "And also, girls? And boys?" Technically. Ahem, Nigel. "Despite the dose of protein, you'll want to tie your hair back as no one wants hair in their pizza." Whilst they were getting on their own aprons and washing their hair, Hadley set to work on copying the recipe onto the portable chalkboard: 1 1/2 cup warm water "So the recipe for the dough is on the board. You may work in pairs, or individually, as there's enough ingredients for both options." Anything else they needed to know? "We'll discuss more about the ingredients after we get the dough prepared while we're waiting for it to rise." In the meantime they had to get the dough prepared, as that was possibly the longest part in the whole process. Once she made sure everyone to got to work, Hadley settled into her own workstation. Because at least if they failed (and she was expecting at least SOME of their pizzas to not come out right), they would have one good pie. ooc: Dough prep time! I'll check back in about 11 hours or so for questions and whatnot. Feel free to make your character add too little or too much ingredients (if its IC of them to do so). And in about 17-18 hours, we'll be at step five - the waiting game and have some more discussion! |
Ethan nodded and tossed his notebook and pen inside his bag after writing down his notes, and went up to get himself a green apron. He need not worry about his hair because it's short, no? Good. Once he got his apron on, he went on ahead and washed his hands. Yup. No germs for his pizza. The Slytherin got back to his workstation and eyed the board. Mhm. This is pretty much like Potions, even if Professor Hadley says no. He was good at mixing stuff, so this should be an easy task. And oh. OH. They could work in pairs? Ethan looked around if there was someone who'd want to partner up with him. |

Well that was definitely something she'd never gotten the chance to do with Ella last term. But a part of her was wishing that she could have asked Ella to teach her that, so that she wouldn't be feeling as panicked as she was now. But thankfully, Professor Hadley said that they could work in pairs. BUT first, she had to go & wash her wands, as directed. Dirty hands probably weren't the best thing when it came to cooking, right? Right. Walking over to the sink, she turned on the faucet as she washed her hands with clean soap & warm water. After that she walked by Professor Hadley where she was keeping the aprons & quickly took one in her tiny hands. Walking back towards her work station, beside that boy who'd waved & smiled at her before, she took a moment to put the apron on. Then took another few seconds to tie her hair up, because she definitely knew she didn't want any Josie hair in her pizza. She took her seat beside the boy again & looked at all of the cooking supplies in front of her. Then at the boy from before. She cleared her throat & spoke in a rather soft tone, "S-So..U-Um...W-Would you want to partner up?" But then the babbling came about, "B-But you don't have to...I-I mean, I-I'm sure..I could a-always ask someone else.." She wouldn't blame him, she was babbling like someone had cast some Babbling Charm on her or something. |
SPOILER!!: Josie Y’know, growing boy is hungry, and if he starts right away then maybe he’ll get to have his pizza sooner, yeah? With or without a part— Ohwait. Hold on. Ethan caught sight of Josette as she got herself an apron and sat beside him. He knew that it was wrong to stare, but the Slytherin couldn’t help it. “What in Hades’ lair is going on?” Ethan thought as he closed his gaping mouth and looked away immediately. Did he just watch her don her apron and tie her hair? Ethan felt his ears go red in embarrassment and swallowed the bile in his mouth. Simultaneously, he looked for Simon. Where is he? Cutty? Grayson? Guys? What.Is.Going.On. The Slytherin blinked a couple of times when Josette started talking. She was actually talking to him? Did she just ask him to be her partner? FOR REAL? Ethan, for the first time, didn’t know what to say. He felt like his brain was running on a 128mb RAM, and hated it. Why can’t he talk? Wait. She’s not gonna go and find another partner, yeah? “No! I mean...uh. Yeah, I’d love to partner up with you.” Ethan paused and grinned as soon as he got his momentum back. MERLIN. Hopefully he wasn’t blushing. That’s the last thing he needed that moment. The Slytherin bit his lip to prevent himself from smiling, then gestured Josette to look at the board. “Are we ready to give it a go?” he asked. “Uh...I’m not really a kitchen person. I...only eat, so...” Ethan shrugged as he tried his best to start a conversation. “I’ll help of course! Just...uhm...tell me what to do.” Yup, he was giving her the lead this time. "Oh, for Merlin's sake, Mordaunt. Stop staring!" |
Quote:
........ Was he... staring at her? ..Was he staring at her the whole time? Did she put her apron on wrong? Or maybe her hair had been tied in some funny way? After checking both her apron & her hair, she was a bit confused as to why he might have been staring. But what she did notice next was that his..ears were turning red & he seemed to be looling around frantically for..something? Perhaps, he wasn't feeling well & needed to go the Hospital Wing? ..Or maybe he really didn't want to be partnered up with her. "A-Are you alright?" ... Now it was he who was being the silent one. Guess his silence said it all, that he didn't want to partner up, again she didn't blame him, she was a bit of a nervous wreck when it came to meeting new faces & socializing in general. Oh wait, it looks like he did want to partner up with her, or in his words, he'd love to. A tiny smile formed on her lips feeling happy to not be doing this entirely alone. But as he'd asked her, was she ready to give it a go? She gave a slight shrug, followed by an unslightly sure, "I-I..think so?" Just as she getting ready to reach for the bowl, he'd stopped her when he started speaking. Apparently he wasn't a kitchen person, so he didn't really cook either. Well at least they had that in common. "I-I've..only helped baked cookies once...M-My father's never really allowed to..c-cook back home.." But Professor Hadley would be nearby if she needed her, so that was alright & safe, right? Right. So where to start. Looking up at the board she took a moment to read over the board before processing what had to be done. Taking a second to clean their bowl, she looked over at the sugar & yeast before looking back at Ethan. "U-Um..W-Would you mind p-pouring the yeast into the bowl, after I add the water & sugar?" Before waiting for an answer, she reached for the water & the sugar pouring the required amount into the bowl. Her blue eyes traveled in his direction as she waited for him to help out. "T-Then after that..W-We'll have to wait around ten minutes or so.." |
SPOILER!!: Josette What’s not to like? She’s beautiful! Not that he’d say that out loud of course, he will definitely scare his new friend, yeah? Right. But...did she really see how uneasy he is right now? Warning bells rang in the boy’s head and commanded himself to stay calm...and cool. It’s not like something embarrassing was going to happen right? “I’m fIne.” Oh, good Merlin. Why did his voice have to make those squeaky sounds when she’s around? Ethan felt his blood rise up to his face. “I’m Okay.” Ahem. “Just looking for my friends. I don’t trust their cooking and they might set the kitchen on fire.” Lies of course. His Slytherin brethren were simply the best. He just had to play the cool card, so...sorry boys! But his voice though. MERLIN. “Sorry about this. Voice break.” He said as he pointed at his throat. No, he decided not to be ashamed of it. His voice breaking meant that he was maturing. Hopefully. Ethan can’t help but grin upon seeing his partner give him a small smile. See? Another reason for him to look at her. Her smile’s precious and all! The Slytherin looked away still grinning as he clapped his hands and looked at their workstation. Josette gave him his first instruction and got hold of the yeast. As soon as she added the water and sugar into their empty bowl, he added the tablespoon of yeast to the mixture. “One tablespoon of yeast, added.” Ethan grinned at his partner and waited with her for ten minutes. Ten minutes. That’s a long time. For Ethan at least. The Slytherin removed his wrist watch and placed it on top of their workstation so that he and Josette could keep track of the time. Well, time is important, no? Professor Cosgrach taught them that. “Well, at least you have experience in the kitchen somehow.” The Slytherin beamed at his partner. As long as his partner spent some time in the kitchen, |
SPOILER!!: Professor Hadley Leah loved sugar. Though she regretted eating large amount of sugar every time she did. She walked up and grabbed a yellow apron to put on. Then she washed her hands cautiously, making sure that they were clean. Really clean. The second year tied her hair back into a ponytail as she walked back to her workstation. After reading the instructions, Leah measured out the ingredients and put them inside a bowl. Hmm, they could work in pairs. Looking around for |
Oh, they could work with partners? Hayden glanced around to see if anyone she knew was there. Sure, she recognized a couple but she didn't seek them out as partners. Though if they wanted to be partners with her she sure wouldn't decline. For now, however, she washed her hands and put on a yellow apron. Luckily her hair was already pulled back in a ponytail. Hayden still didn't know the spell for water, so she had to go back to the sink to get her one and a half cups of warm water. She brought her bowl with her so when she filled the measuring cup she could pour it right in. She filled it halfway full, and poured that in as well. No need getting two measuring cups dirty, right? Back at her station, Hayden got a tablespoon of sugar and added that to the bowl, and then did the same with yeast. Now it was time to wait. |
Oh yes. Adi had heard of sugar being used in dough but he had never thought too much about it. He glanced towards AJ with a grin when Hadley mentioned hair. His hair wasn't long enough to be pulled back and tied but he brushed it back none the less. Then he put on an apron (not liking it one bit) and scrubbed his hands clean. Adi decided he'd fly solo on this one so he grabbed a bowl and added water, sugar and yeast after carefully measuring them out. He waited out ten minutes, occasionally checking to see if the yeast was all bubbly as it said on the blackboard. Sure enough, then minutes later it was sure was. Salt went in next then Adi got some stirring done. Half a cup of flour was added afterwards followed by more mixing as he slowly more. He had added four cups in total when the dough began to pull away from the bowl sides. So far so good! |
Hayden! SPOILER!!: Hayden Selecting a bright pink apron that clashed horribly with her hair, Norah looked around the room in search of someone to be her partner. Hmm. She spotted a girl in Hufflepuff robes who looked about her age, so she made her way over to her station and extended a freshly-washed hand to greet her. "Hi, I'm Norah. Do you have a partner?" she asked brightly, because YAY NEW FRIENDS. The girl had already set up the yeast in the bowl, and Norah had baked enough times to know they had two wait for the yeast to get all happy and bubbly before they moved on. But ten minutes was ages and she wanted some of that pizza! |
Eek! Sugar was one of the ingredients for their dough? She need to ask Hadley about not adding sugar to her dough. The first year raised her hand up in the air. "Professor, what if I decided not to add sugar to my dough? Does it effect the taste?" Because she's allergic to sugar, she just didn't want to risk eating food with sugar in it even its just in a small amount. She grabbed one of the aprons and put that on. And she need to wash her hand like the Professor said. She went toward the sink and washed her hands with soap and water. Hairs. Hadley mentioned they need to tie their hairs, so the first year tied her hair back in a ponytail. Partners? They could work in partners? She looked around the kitchen to see if someone still need a partner if not she just gonna fly solo. |
Lottie and Grayson hiiii Hell to the freakin' YEAH. FOOD. They were getting FOOD in MUGGLE STUDIES. It was just like it used to be 'cept for the fact it wasn't already made and waiting and hahahahha Hadley wanted them doing it themselves?? HAHAHAHA. Ohmerlin. Whoever thought putting Lex back in a kitchen was a good idea...wasn't thinking very clearly and seeing as she liked this placed and would be back for a snack later, she chose to surround herself with people she knew knew what they were going hence her walking over to the table her bestie was at--Lottie made good sandwiches and good pizza, this all made sense--and Grayson because she definitely knew he knew his way around a kitchen too. Lex made good choices sometimes. She looked between the two, grin firmly in place before asking the most important question. "So, who's making my pizza for me?" The grin might have gotten wider too. Desperation maybe? Chances were they'd have to EAT these after and well.......she kinda wanted to be able to enjoy hers......and...after that Muggle Studies OWL it didn't seem possible unless she had no part in it. "I mean you guys don't have to but I reckon I'd just end up enjoying some of your pizza instead." At the very least help would be liked. Mhm. |
SPOILER!!: He crossed out olive oil on his notes. Right. No olive oil. Gotcha captain. Salute. Except Simon didn't salute the Professor cause that would have been pretty strange. Instead, Simon rubbed his hands together. It was time to start the work. He washed his hands with soap and water, making sure that his hands were perfectly clean then he slipped a green apron over his head and tied the back. He gathered all of the ingredients (water, sugar, yeast, salt, and flour). He then wrote the recipe that they would be working from in his notebook and the steps that followed. Hmm.. He'd prefer to do this lesson with a partner. He glanced around the room, looking for either Ethan and Cutty. He couldn't find Cutty but he found Ethan speaking to a girl (Josette). A GIRL!?!? :whaa: A pretty girl too. He raised his eyebrows and made a note to make sure to tease his friend about it later. Heh. It'd be fun. He still needed to find a partner so he glanced about the room again and saw a young girl (Candice) who also was looking around the kitchen. Well it was time to make new friends, he figured and he approached the girl with a friendly smile on his face. "Hey! I'm Simon. Want to team up and make this pizza together?" |
SPOILER!!: Ethan If she had enough of a nerve, she would have gone on to ask him not to stare so since it was making her feel very uncomfortable. From what she could remember, no boy has ever stared at her like he had been before, so it was new to her. All she could think was if there was something on her face still. It had to be the only reason she could come up with. Josie looked at him surprised when she'd heard his voice...squeak as he'd answered her question from before if he was alright or not. As she was ready to say something more, he'd spoken & his voice had squeaked once more. She could see that he was embarrassed by it, since he was turning a very bright red. Apparently he was just looking for his friends in his state of looking ill & panic-stricken, for what reason she was very curious. She couldn't help but look around with him & ask softly, "A-Are they..here?" He was apologizing once more, but now for his voice breaking. From the looks of it, it didn't seem like it was his fault that it had happened, so why apologize for it? But still she couldn't help but say in a questionable tone, "...I-It's alright?" She couldn't help but smile again as he clapped his hands together grabbing hold of the yeast after she'd asked him. Very happy that he was going to help her, mainly. She could use all of the help she could get. Josette moved out of his way, allowing him to pour the tablespoon of yeast into the bowl & so that she didn't make him trip or anything. He smiled at her once more & her lips turned upward in a small smile as well as they began to wait for those long ten minutes to go by. As she waited for those ten minutes to go by she made little marks in her parchment just to keep track of their progress so far. Just as she'd finished making her little marks, Ethan was removing his wrist watch & placing it atop their workstation. Well that would definitely be a lot easier for the both of them to keep track of the time. And from the looks of it, 3 minutes had already gone by. He spoke again & her attention looking towards him again. "Only o-once though...But most of i-involved watching someone else do the baking mainly...I-I just added some chocolate c-chips..Don't know if it could r-really count as...experience.." Or maybe it could. Oh, drats, she'd messed up her wording. She shook her head quickly, "-Sorry..I-I mean..My father..doesn't allow me to cook or bake..." That's what she meant. Mhm. Yes. Her blue eyes upon the yeast as she waited for it to rise, & then glanced at his wrist watch. "F-Five minutes.. |
lux and mentions of grayson. Food in classes.. Bay could faint… this was just beyond amazing. spotting Grayson he gave his new prankster friend a thumbs up and a wink… they were talking about sneaking food into class.. now the Professor was sneaking class in with the food. he he he. Turning his attention back to Lux he said " how about I hold the bowl and mix everything that you put in it?" he flexed his muscle to get his point across.. he could use his muscles to mix the dough really well and Lux could totally make sure that they were using the correct measurements. Everything was right in front of him anyways but he loved doing anything with her. |
Quote:
RWAR. She wiggled her brows as he flexed for her. "Sounds good to me." hahaha They were so silly sometimes and she loved it. Looking over at the board, she saw that the first step called for water, sugar and yeast. She carefully measuring out the right amount of water as she poured it from her wand. After the water was warmed up, she put it in the bowl before adding the right amount of sugar and yeast. Now it was time to play the waiting game until the yeast got all bubbly. |
step 1 Alright dough time. Zander was almost bouncing in excitment! This is gonna be so much fuuuun! They get to make the pizza and then eat the pizza and then share some pizza SO MUCH PIZZA! But wait. Zander had never cooked anything before... Besides easy mac. But like the name implies, that's easy. You literally just stick it in the microwave. So uh, how exactly was he supposed to make a pizza? Muggle studies was supposed to be easy for him. Hmph. The Gryffindor quickly put on her apron and looked over the instructions. There were five steps!? AND this was just for the dough. Oh boy. Measuring out the right amout of water, he added it to his big bowl. Then he poured a whole ton of flour like the directions called for. Next? Yeast. After pouring those three ingredients in, Zander grabbed the sugar and poured it into his measuring spoon. Except... he did this over the bowl. AND WOOPS! The sugar kind of... sort of... slipped? And before he knew it, there was WAY more than just one tablespoon. *Whistles innocently*. Too much sugar is never a bad thing, though? Right? Scanning the room to make sure know one saw his little slip up, he decided to just keep going. Whatever. Sugar can't hurt anybody... He'll just have one of them sweet pizza crusts. |
Its Candice *ahem* SPOILER!!: Hello Partner ^_^ Candice was about to get her bowl when someone was approaching her. A boy, an older Slytherin dude asking her to partner up? Ohh. Cool. She didn't have to do this alone then. "Nice to meet you, Simon, I'm Candice. And sure we can totally partner up." Two heads better than one. And beside the guy, Simon' face was kinda easy on the eyes. Ahem. Okay back to making pizza dough. But before they start, she need to know something. "Have you ever made pizza before?" Or cooked? |
GAH. My bad XD lol. SPOILER!!: Candice He nodded his head. "Nice to meet you too, Candice. Sweet!" he replied with a warm grin. Yes, he didn't have to work alone! Now, they had to make the pizza dough. Before he could start measuring out ingredients, Candice had asked him a question. He raised his eyebrows briefly and then nodded reassuringly. "I've helped my mum out a lot of times and have made it a couple of times by myself." He wondered whether or not she had made it before. If she hadn't that was a-okay because they were here learning how to make it now. "What about you? Have you made it before?" He began to order the ingredients for the first step that they'd need as he waited to hear her response. |
Well. Marigold could just work on her own. Not that cooking wasn't completely fun, but she had been busy taking notes and hadn't participated yet in the class. Hmmph. Especially in a class where she had first hand experience, too! She tied her hair back quickly, then slipped on an apron. Which she looked good in, of course. Water, sugar, and yeast first? She grabbed a bowl and put two cups of water in - waaait. Only one and a half? She frowned at her bowl. Her mum always used two cups. Whatever, she could just improvise. She added the one tablespoon of sugar and one of yeast, then stirred it around. It looked a liiiittle watery, but that shouldn't be a problem. |
Text Cut: L-Squared! And mentions of Bay too! If he had attracted another bouncy, happy-go-lucky loony, he was walking out. ............. Or. Well. Maybe not. Still. He jumped and looked over at the girl, a startled expression spread across his face. His natural instinct would have been to ask her who she was and what she wanted with him. "Helloooooooo," New person (Lottie). Pretty person, too. Hello, indeed. Smiles for you. "'Course, I do! It's pizza. Pizza's amazing!" And besides, what kind of idiot didn't like it. He was sure some people didn't but really, they were wrong. Oh! "Looks like we're getting started!" FREAKING. YES. Grayson shot the girl a smirk before moving to go and wash his hands thoroughly and then don an apron. And not just any coloured apron. A GREEN apron. Green looked good on him, didn't it? Matched his tie and the inner lining of his robes. The fourteen year old headed back to his workstation, winking over at Bay and giving him a thumbs up too as he went. Hellooooo new prankster friend. And helloooooooo Lex, who was all too insistent on having someone make the pizza for her. If he wasn't one of the people she had been asking, he would have been proud about this question. Never do anything unless you can get someone to do it for you. Uh huh. "Quite the sweet talking Prefect, you are." Snort. "If you want a taste, you're gonna have to help out too." Wink. He was not going to have the first bite of their pizza, by the way. |
SPOILER!!: Josette And yes. We see you, Simon. Ethan gave his friend a shrug and watched him ask another student if they could work together. The Slytherin felt proud and all that, because in just a few days, Simon seemed to be more outgoing now. Of course, he’d credit himself for that—what with talking non-stop and all in the Tree House, yeah? He won’t admit it out loud though. Hehe. Ethan unintentionally locked eyes with her when she suddenly turned around to look at him. The Slytherin had to purse his lips in embarrassment. Whyyyyyy did he have to squeak that day? It doesn’t happen when he talks to Simon…or Cutty…or Grayson? Ethan started to chew on his lip and gave Josette side glances. He was sooooooo tempted to do a head desk right then and there. MERLIN. The Ravenclaw started to look around too, and Ethan decided to point at where Simon was standing. “That’s my friend, Simon over there.” And yes, they are sooooooo going to talk about this in their dorm room. He will be needing lots of assurance after this. “I haven’t seen Cutty or Grayson, though.” He said as he stole a glance at her. He can’t help it, okay? MERLIN. He needs to ask Mordred about this…or his dad…or WHOEVER. Why can’t he stop looking at her? Hnnnngh. Ethan had no words for that. He just grinned and nodded at her. Maybe he should just stop talking so that he will save himself from further embarrassment. But then, she was talking! So he must reply somehow! Merlin, this is hard. Then there’s her smile again. JAHSDFLKDJFHKSFHALDSKHLAFSF. Ethan caught himself gaping, but ended up smiling with her. Josie’s smile was something really. “Keep it together, Mordaunt. Act cool.” The Slytherin rolled his sleeves up to his elbows and took a peek at Josette’s parchment. Hmm. The steps are pretty basic…maybe later on they could experiment on it? Like…add spices to it and whatnot? That could also mean that he will be able to spend more time with her that way. He took a mental note, and immediately questioned it. “Would she even consider working with me again in the kitchen after this? That’s the question, Mordaunt.” His stream of thought was interrupted when his partner started talking again. So she did help somebody before! “I can’t even stay long in a kitchen, so you win.” No, he wasn’t exactly praising her, but simply stating the truth. He’d love to hang around inside a kitchen because there’s food but actual cooking? Maybe not. But…how come his father doesn’t allow her to bake? “Why? I mean, my mom used to force me to help her in the kitchen because she told me that I need to learn how to prepare my own food…” Which now makes sense. Oh and hey! No squeaks! Ethan glanced at the board then to his watch on the table. “Ten minutes is up. I’ll add the salt and stir it. Then you can add the flour after. I’ll keep stirring and you can check if the consistency is okay.” Teamwork, yeah? The third year offered her another grin and proceeded with the next step. Salt, and stir. |
SPOILER!!: Simon He had helped his mom a lot? Jackpot. She got herself a jackpot. Hehehe. "Nope. This is my first time." She's glad that at least one of them know what to do. They should probably start the first step. Candice looked over the board to read the first step. They need to mix the water, sugar, and yeast. After the Gryffindor made sure that the bowl was cleaned, she filled half of the cup with water using Aguamenti. Since the sink was too far from her workstation. And she poured the water into the bowl. Do you mind to add the other ingredients into the bowl?" Because she was not confident with her mixing ability. Beside Simon said he already done that before, yes? |
Angel was totally confused she had no idea what she was supposed to be doing and worst of all it seemed her sister was busy already, why was cooking or baking harder than looking after flowers. Angel really wished that she had someone to work with so that she could have some help. "Professor!!" Angel raised her hand. "Can't we make something really easy like a ready-meal?" Angel was totally sure she could make that because she couldn't make anything else, especially not Pizza, maybe there was a spell to make someone an Italian so she was really good at it, could she look in her book? |
SPOILER!!: she's adorable! "No worries. It's pretty easy to pick up," he added with a reassuring grin. Pizza dough had always been fun to make. Kneading it was the best part. As Candice prepared the bowl, Simon began measuring out the ingredients that they needed. "Course, no worries!" As he went down the list he began putting them into the bowl containing the warm water. 1 tablespoon of sugar? Check 1 tablespoon of yeast? Check. Alright, all they needed to do now was mix it and let the mixture stand for at least ten minutes. He thoroughly mixed up the ingredients and then stopped to let it sit for a bit. He looked up briefly again and saw Ethan pointing over towards him. Wait.. Wait. :whaa: Why was Ethan pointing? And why was he blushing? Hmmm.. Odd.. He gave the two of them a friendly wave and then went back to his business. Hmm.. Another thing he would have to investigate later. "So what year are you in? I'm a third year but this is my first year here," he said. He couldn't imagine the girl being much older than a second year. She looked quite little and sort of reminded him of Allison, his own little sister. |
SPOILER!!: Ethan Josie watched him do something strange with his lips not too long after his voice had squeaked. It was clear that the boy was really embarrassed, there was no hiding it. It was all becoming a bit awkward between the two of them & it was making the second year feel nervous once again. Before she knew it, the subject was changed & Ethan was pointing out to her where one of his friends were. His name was Simon & by the looks of the green robes, it looked like he was from the same house as Ethan, being a Slytherin. But then he'd brought up a few more names she wasn't too familiar with. "H-Hm..Maybe they're around here...s-somewhere.." He was still looking at her in side glances.. All of a sudden she found herself giving him some side glances as well, more so to see when/if he was looking at her. She felt her heart quicken a little bit when he had given her an odd look at first, but then she'd relaxed (slightly) when he ended up smiling with her. Out of panic, she looked down at her notes again as he was rolling up his sleeves. But in the corner of her eye, she'd noticed that he was looking at her notes too. 'Is there something wrong with her notes? Can he read them? Did her hand writing look sloppy?' She lifted her head to look at him as he'd told her she'd won for experience of being in a kitchen. Josette smiled again as he told her how he couldn't even stay in the kitchen long, which made her question this. "W-Why?" While waiting for an answer he asked her why her father never allowed her to bake. It was simple. "H-He says it's too dangerous..And M-Merlin forbid I accidentally set the h-house up in flames...S-So he cooks.." Maybe when she gets a little older he might allow her to cook or bake? Right? Following his eyes towards his wrist watch, she had realized the ten minutes had been up. Oh and the yeast bubbling! That was good! And Ethan was taking the initiative to add the salt & stir, which was their next step! Which meant to add the flour, which she was already reaching for as he was finishing his sentence. After Ethan added the salt & was in the middle of stirring, Josie took the opportunity to add the first 1/2 cup of flour into the bowl. She allowed him to stir it before adding the next 1/2 cup. There was one cup so far. Josie peaked a glance into the bowl as she started to watch the dough beginning to change little bit. Then she added two more half cups of flour so that it was now 2 cups. It was certainly beginning to thicken & pull away from the sides of the bowl like Professor Hadley's directions had stated on the board. But NO more than 3-4 1/2 cups of dough. So to be safe, she added two more PRECISE half cups of flour so that there would be 3 cups of flour in the bowl. Hopefully she was doing this right, Professor Hadley? "I-It's pulling away from t-the sides..L-Like Professor Hadley's directions said...T-That must be good..right?" |
Step 1 Yes. Excellent. Tag had answered correctly, and first. If his dad were here he should've been smiling, we hoped, maybe, who knew. But at least Tag had answered correctly and that's all that mattered. Why was Lottie's hand on Bird Boy's shoulder? And why was he giving her smiles? Ugh. Slytherin boys. Tag sorta wanted to work with Lottie, but Lex was already asking for help. He should've figured Lex wanted to work with her. Tag possibly could do this on his own. The boy was decent at pizza making. Decent. Anyway, before they actually got down to the work Tag did as Hadley had asked, went to go wash his hands and put on his apron. Always wash the hands when making food, yeah? Always. He glanced up at the board and read the measurements first before reading the actual instructions and getting what was necessary. "Combine the water, sugar and yeast into one bowl." Tag repeated to himself. He grabbed one measuring cup, checked the numbers on its side and dipped his wand into it and said "Aguamenti." And watched it fill up. First he'd do a cup of water, then he'd do it again with a half. He usually had to break it down like that just to be extra sure. Then he measured one tablespoon of yeast, poured that into the bowl, then measured another tablespoon of sugar into the bowl, and lastly poured the water in. Now he'd just have to wait about 10 minutes, as the instructions said so. |
For sugar, spice, and everything...er, nice! Text Cut: Grayson ;) and Lex! Yes, helloooo, we don't know you but you like pizza, so you're cool. "That's the spirit!" Wink. And all the smiles, Slytherin boy. Nice. Were they for her? Of course they were. Much appreciated. He got smiles as well. Now Lex was joining them. Great! Only... ...that question. Cue eyebrow raise for the bestie. "It's almost as if you don't know who you're talking to. Quite amusing, really." Sure, Lottie could share her notes with Lex, but she's never done any work for Lex. This is not how L-Squared do stuff. So, Lottie shook her head and eyed the Slytherin boy. Looks like Lex will have to make her own pizza. Or... not, really, because it was pretty obvious she was partnering up with Lottie, right? Either way, she pushed her hair away and washed her hands, while choosing a gray apron. Well, we don't know what color it had been before, because she charmed it to be a silvery kind of gray. Look, Grayson and Lottie entirely matched with Slytherin colors. They could partner up, too, Hadley didn't say three students couldn't work together. "Partners?" how very sneaky of her, she looked at no one in particular, so it could be either one of them. Haha. The sixth year still took a bowl and added the one and a half cup of water (warm water, even), the tablespoon of sugar and... yeast as well. She worked on the mix and let it rest. What was it? 10 minutes? Got it. We're counting. Or someone should. Lex could count. Text Cut: Instructions and whatnot |
SPOILER!!: Professor's instructions Jasmine could not wait to get started on the pizza. She needed to complete the pre-dough making process first. Jasmine reached into her pocket and retrieved a rubber band. Then she proceeded to gather up her hair as much as she could and tie it back with her rubber band. Hair properly secured, Jasmine went to find an apron. Jasmine decided on a pink one and quickly put it over her head, taking a moment to securely tie the apron's straps. Next she went to the sink and washed her hands thoroughly. Satisfied that they were clean enough to perform surgery or at the least make pizza, Jasmine was all set to make her dough. |
So this time sugar will be added. Cris hadn't mentioned the ingredient because he thought after Professor Hadley's objection to too much sugar in one's diet that sugar would be omitted. Cris quickly copied down the steps to make pizza in his journal, since he figured he'd have a go at making one of his own outside of class. Text Cut: "Cris' journal' Now that he had everything written down, Cris pocketed his quill and journal and proceeded over to the wash basin to wash his hands and grab an apron. Rubbing his hands together he washed them thoroughly before letting them drip dry. Then he selected an apron. A nice manly one before returning to the workstation. Something pink caught his eye, and on turning to see what it was, he immediately chuckled when he saw it was Jasmine wearing a pink apron. "Nice pink apron you have there. Jasmine, are you up for partnering with me. I'm no too adapt in the kitchen," Cris asked as he reached over and pulled a bowl over to him. |
SPOILER!!: Lottie and Grayson! Haha yeah, she figured as much and gave a shrug, not a defeated shrug but one of acceptance. "You'd only be lying to yourself if you thought I wouldn't try my luck anyway." Lex was all about pressing her luck and seeing what could happen after, like Grayson agreeing she could taste his pizza if-- "What?" She blinked, wondering how serious he was. "You'd trust a girl who can't make her own sandwiches to help you make a pizza you plan on eating after?" .....This...this explained why he wasn't a Ravenclaw, but sure. She'd let him have it. "I'll try not to mess everything up." And a firm nod before following them to have her hands washed. Her hair had already been pulled back. A result of being too lazy to brush it this morning leaving it in a messy bun. Her obvious choice was the blue apron. It was the only one that registered in her mind and if she'd just deprived a Claw of a robe...well tough. Oh and lookit Lottie asking questions that already had answers because obviously they were partners, yes, this was assumed but then she figured that was to include Grayson so she didn't mind it being asked and instead glanced to Grayson for his agreement. "The way I see it, I can supervise, call it a collective effort. I'd be doing us all a favour really." THEN THEY COULD EAT. "Even though we're only one group I think we should still have two pizzas." And with that, she shoved another bowl toward Grayson--ONE SHE'D SCOURGIFY-ED, SEE CONTRIBUTION!!!--along with everything Lottie had just used. They would work in sync then have them bake at the same time. Get on it dude, ten minutes are wasting! Glancing over at the instructions, she saw a section for spraying the boil with. When it came to that, she would be on it. Honest. |
Benny had settled down in an area he could work with as students started answering the first question that had apparently been posed to them that he had missed. Oh well. Going over to where Professor Hadley pointed, the third year picked up a green apron about his size and slipped it on, tying the strings behind his back before washing his hands. The boy then returning to where he had set down his belongings ready to move on. So flour and sugar and yeast and all those other things being mentioned were needed. The Gryffindor waited until the actual recipe was posted to copy anything down so that he didn't miss anything or mix anything up. SPOILER!!: Angel Benny heard Angel call for Professo Hadley, the girl seemed nervous about the whole thing. He had an idea and so he approached the first year tentatively. "Hey..." he greeted quietly. "Do you want to...um...maybe partner up?" The third year didn't know why he was unsure but then this was the first real time they had talked since the willow. |
Quote:
"I suppose so." Angel gave a small smile, inwardly she wanted to beg him to partner her but she was playing it tough and trying to get him to realise that he had hurt her feeling by ignoring her, and he had no excuses they were in the same house so he could have spoken to her in the common room and told her what she had done wrong. "Is there a spell to make me an Italian?" Angel asked him, "I could do a Pizza in seconds then." Angel wondered if that would be classed as cheating, but well she thought it was using her brains. |
Text Cut: L-squared! Smiles from the pretty one were appreciated. Very much. Thank you. Did he trust Lex on making pizza when she couldn't even make her own sandwiches? "I trust you not to poison me, there's a difference." What? It was the truth. She wouldn't dare to do something like that, when her precious badge depended on it. Besides, the fact that Lex couldn't make her own sandwiches was interesting. Uh huh. Plus, he had full trust in her not messing everything up. Again, not saying because secrets. Er. Did these two know each other? Maybe. Because he was about to open his mouth and agree to the pretty one's request for partnering up -- because OBVIOUSLY, she was asking HIM -- when Lex piped up. Supervising? Collective effort? HMMMM. Interesting. "We'd probably get the pizza making process done a little faster." MAYBE. Soooooooooo they were going to work as a group of three them? BRING IT. "'Course! That leaves more pizza for everyone." See? He was being NICE. They all got bigger portions. Uh huh. It might have also been his greed or hunger talking but he didn't care. He still took the bowl form Lex, shooting her a smile and a "Thanks!" Did Lex realise that she'd be doing the minor work? Collecting things, cleaning things. Very minor. Maybe that what was so appealing about supervising the whole thing. You got to do the least amount of work and get two pizzas out of it. MAN, he had opted for the wrong job. Copying the unknown girl, he was. More or less. A cup was magically cleaned before he poured one a half cups of warm water into his bowl. Cleaning the spoon too, he added a tablespoon of sugar and then a tablespoon of yeast. There. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. "How much longer do we have to wait?" |

HAS HE DIED AND GONE TO HEAVEN!?!?!?!?! They were making PIZZA!!!!!!! PIZZA! sweet beautiful pizza. Jeremiah would of squeaked had he not been so speechless by it all, really. Though his heavenly dream was crushed at the mention of tying hair back............. no, Jeremiah didn't do that, it wasn't debatable. Ahem, he'd just be in the back where he can't be seen or noticed. Not paying any attention to anyone at his workstation table he grabbed a pile of ingredients and started working at it after washing his hands properly and grabbing a random apron, which happened to be purple but you know he worked it. He's made a pizza before.......... Kinda, it almost worked but then again they eyeballed and guessed with ingredients so that was probably why they failed. Now though with the measurements laid out for him it was so on like donkey kong! Settling all his things down he grabbed the water sugarand yeast and mixed it all up untill it was really mixed, actually it was untill he was bored but no matter. Sitting and looking down into his bowl he waited for it to become bubbly, because who knew when ten minutes was up really? After he noticed it bubbling some he assumed it ha been long enough and he dropped in his small amount of salt before stirring it agaiiin. PIZZA WAS HAPPENING! |
Step 2+3 All right, after what seemed to be ten minutes of waiting time Tag checked his mixture. It seemed bubbly enough, so he just went with it and looked at the next set of instructions to complete. So the blonde added in that teaspoon of salt to the mixture and let it stir until everything seemed smooth and well mixed together. Now this part, Tag didn't want to confuse himself and mess everything up. He figured if he still had the right amount of measurement mixed into the bowl then everything would be all right. So he first put in three cups of flour and then added in that one half next. That should do the trick. Hopefully, it didn't turn out to be bad or anything like that, seeing as he had taken a different route on how to do it. Every now and then Tag would gently poke the dough with a finger to see if it was transforming correctly. The dough was somewhat pulling away from the bowl but, when Tag glanced at his fingers, some of it had decided to glue onto his skin. Hmmm. Would this be a probably later? Maybe Tag's way of doing things would prove to hinder him in his dough making. Anyway, it seemed all right, probably if it sat out a bit it'll all be perfect. |
Step 1 Pizza, pizza, pizza, PIZZA. That's all that was currently running through this Wayne's mind. Her love for pizza...it was quite something. Making sure to listen to everything carefully - even though she was already familiar with it - it didn't hurt to listen. Besides, it was pizza talk. It was time to start! Twisting her hair into a long braid, Beverly tossed it behind her back, grabbed an apron and proceeded to wash her hands. No germs. That was NOT allowed in Beverly Wayne's food. Ew. Wiggling her fingers over her workstation, as if the stuff on it were tarot cards, Beverly pulled a bowl to the center and added water, sugar and yeast, then mixed them. Now bubbly, she needed to wait for that to happen. |
Jasmine laughed at Cris' compliment about her apron. "Well you know I have to keep up my Pink Panther rep.", she said. When he asked her to be his partner, she replied, "Of course I will be your partner. Are you ready to get started?" Since Cris had already gotten a bowl, Jasmine grabbed a measuring cup, measuring spoons and a regular spoon. "First we need the water, sugar and yeast. Why don't you take the measuring cup and measure out 1 1/2 cups of water. It needs to be warm though. I'll get the sugar and the yeast. We can pour it all in the bowl and you can mix it together. Then we wait." Jasmine took the measuring spoons and measured 1 tablespoon of sugar. She took extra care to make sure that the spoon was full and the sugar was evenly distributed. Pouring that into the bowl, she next measured 1 tablespoon of yeast. Jasmine added the yeast to the sugar already in the bowl and waited for Cris to pour in the water. |
Step 1 SPOILER!!: Angel Her answer didn't leave him much confidence in the matter. Usually Angel was far more energetic and welcoming. Especially around him at times. And now she was almost like he was, close-lipped, the smile she gave the only thing that made him willing to continue with the partnership. Though he did manage a small chuckle at her question. "I don't think so..." he answered offering a small smile of his own. Maybe that would break the tension. "But then it doesn't seem quite as bad as potions so maybe it can't all be that bad....right?" Glancing at his notes for the steps, he saw step number one and moved over a bowl. Out of habit he nearly took out his wand to scourgify it but this was muggle studies. Oops. He had caught himself in time thankfully. Then poured the sugar and yeast into the bowl before measuring out the water. This time using magic since it was allowed by Hadley, handing over to Angel. "You can do the honors." |
Post 1 Cooking was a skill Cutty could value. Mostly because with it, he could lure a maaaa'aaaan. Or even an unsuspecting member of the board. This is how his thirteen year old brain figured it worked anyway as he'd seen by example of Adelaide Adams and her highly coveted brownies. So without hesitation, Cutty carried his pale little behind over to where the aprons where and fastened one onto his body. He looked it over and decided that it suited him. Maybe he'd even invest in one of them for future use. He washed his hands next, careful to get beneath the fingernails and eager to work alone. He figured it was best this way. Cutty gathered the yeast, flour and sugar and combined them into a bowl very carefully. Yes, their Professor had said that it wasn't potions but what if something went wrong and he'd introduced the wrong ingredient at the wrong time and then had to start all over? Could that happen in muggle cooking? Were there ever ways to fix it? Why hadn't he paid attention when his own mother cooked their meals? They lived in a predominantly muggle building, but maybe she did use a bit of magic in the privacy of their own home whilst cooking for her and her boy. Cutty would pay closer attention next summer. "Aquamenti." He said looking like an absurd fountain of a boy dressed in an apron as he held perfectly still to let the water flow into his mixture. Cutty was stirring his ingredients and looking around for texture, colour and clockwise or anti-clockwise stirring queues from his fellow classmates. He presumed a bisquey colour and that a smoother texture was what they were after. When he reached that texture he ceased stirring and withdrew the stirring instrument before hitting it with a cleansing charm. |
Quote:
"Oh you don't know." Angel giggled as she looked at Benny. "I once accidently burnt something I was baking, I put it in the oven to cook and watched a film it wasn't until my mamma told me about it did I remember." Angel sighed, her mamma had made sure she kept a close eye on her since then. "Oh cool." Angel looked around for a mixing spoon, she had been thinking of just using magic. "I'm all mixed up!!" Angel giggled as she said it but she wasn't watching what she was doing whilst mixing and the mixture splashed over her and Benny. "Is that okay Benny?" |
Steps 4+5 So Tag had stood about a few more minutes, not doing anything, in hopes that the dough would turn out better and not all sticky to his fingers. He gave it another light jab with his fingers and it seemed to have fixed itself up somehow. Thouuuugghh, a little bit, much much much smaller than last time, had stuck itself to Tag's fingers. Sigh. Oh well, he'd gone this far and everything had seemed fine. OH NO. These next steps were so difficult Tag hoped that he didn't mess it up. Kidding. This was the easiest tasks they would have to do with the dough. He got the spray bottle and covered it in the other bowl, trying to spread it out evenly. The boy, remembering something his father had always done, got a small piece of napkin, or something of the sort and moved it over the bowl. He wasn't quite sure why his dad did this, but he wouldn't question a chef's way. Then he put the dough into the sprayed bowl and placed a cloth over it. Now he just played the waiting game. |
internet is being lame and who knows when it'll stop so *does this all in one post* Quote:
mix mix mix.. still too runny, another half a cup in, this time he did it carefully so that he wasn't bombarded with dust smoke. Mixing that up he squinted down at it's consistency before mixing a few more times.... onnne more half cup couldn't hurt, yeah?.. Scooping up one more half cup he poured it in gradually while stirring constantly. it was a tedious task to do the two things at once and at one point he had to stop his tongue from going between his teeth like it usually did when he was concentrating on doing something difficult. The dough was pulling away from the sides and Jeremiah grinned to himself as he stuck a clean finger in it to make sure it didn't stick to it. Sweeettt!!!! All markers were for go!!! He quickly sprayed the other bowl he was given and placed his dough in it before covering it. now he had to wait SOOOOOO loong. it was worth it though, pizza is always worth it. yes. |
Jasmine. Step One SPOILER!!: Jasmine Cris chuckled at Jasmine's mention of the Pink Panther. He was glad that she remembered his teasing reference to the fuzzy creature the other day at lunch. He smiled gratefully when she agreed to partner up with him and then nodded eagerly when she asked whether he was ready to start making dough. "As ready as I'll ever be," Cris replied cracking his knuckles to demonstrate his readiness. He listened as she doled out the duties. "Warm water, 1 1/2 cups of water? I'm on it," Cris nodded before reaching over to grab a measuring cup. His first instincts were to whip out his wand and clean the cup before he realized he wasn't in potions class. He had to believe that the house elves kept everything clean in this kitchen. So that just left conjuring up the water. Pointing his wand inside the measuring cup, Cris cast the water spell, saying, "Aguamenti." As water flowed out of his wand, Cris concentrated on keeping the water warm. Once the cup was filled, Cris ended the spell as he first emptied its contents into the bowl. Then he pointing his wand back inside the measuring cup and proceeded to fill it up midways before ending the spell and holstering his wand. He poured the remaining water into the bowl and then picked up a wooden spoon and then stirred the ingredients all together, before letting it stand for 10 minutes. When 10 minutes was up, he turned to Jasmine. "Okay what's next?" |
2+3 here! Text Cut: LOL! You two! That was true, you know? Lex couldn't cook many things, but she did perfectly well with drinks, and maybe with sweets that didn't involve chocolate because otherwise she'd eat the entire chocolate before actually starting. However, she laughed, shortly and softly, when the boy mentioned 'poison', that wouldn't seem the way for Lex to deal with things, she was very hands on, so to speak. And her bestie knew the Slytherin boy. Good, that meant Lottie could trust him, even if Lex didn't. Or did. Lotus had no idea. Lookit. Her time was up. She could do the next step. "Yes, you'd be doing us all a favor, and get two pizzas, Lex." She said, while adding half a teaspoon of salt and stirring slightly, "Seems you got your way, but...," dramatic pause while she added half a cup of flour after cleaning the cup, "...we...," she gestured to the boy and then at herself, probably adding some flour to his apron as well because, lol, flour flies apparently, sorry, "...get to have the biggest slices." Just so you know, bestie. Another half a cup and more mixing, "I think your time's up, just follow my lead," she said to the Slytherin one, adding a wink after her words. A bit more flour and a bit more mixing. It was close to being done, really, because it wasn't sticking to her fingers too much. |
Step 1 Lucy added in her bowl water, sugar and yeast, then mixed them..Then she raised her wand and she said: "Excuse me, Professor.. Can I reveal a little secret to making the Pizza? My mother is Italian and she tell me that I have to put togheter few ingredients in small parts and mix with energy and the pizza dough has to rise a long time!" |
SPOILER!!: Norah ^_^ A few minutes into her wait time, a young girl appeared next to Hayden. She looked to be about the same age, and by the color of her robes she was obviously a Hufflepuff. Hayden smiled and shook the hand that was offered to her. "Hi Norah, I'm Hayden. I don't, do you want to work together?" Yay for teamwork and new friends. With two of them, they probably wouldn't be able to mess anything up too badly. Probably. Hayden peered into the bowl, and decided to consult with her new partner. "Do you think that's bubby." Before starting something, weren't they supposed to have clear definitions so as not to cause confusing? Maybe that wasn't a rule for cooking. SPOILER!!: Instructions for reference |
SPOILER!!: Lolol the smaller slices, we'll take it over nothing XD Poison? Snort. "Believe me when I say they are more creative ways of killing you." Poison was sometimes slow and in the cases it wasn't, it was a little too quick for any real satisfaction. So he was right. He could very much trust her to not poison him while they worked on the pizzas together. And he had the right idea. They would get it done faster working together...except not really now that they had two pizzas and two of them working on it. The odds were just like before but she wouldn't point that out because she was HELPING in the little ways she could. The Professor should let them make drinks during a lesson. She could, it was easy enough. Maybe some time closer to the summer when she'd be burning up. OoooOoOo for a Slytherin Grayson was generous, or maybe it was because it was her and Lottie? In any case he was agreeing that the pizza sharing would happen and she was all for that, even when Lottie added the conditions to her getting a share. The Gryffindor beamed anyway because it was fine as long as they fed her. "That's cool, see, at least two of us standing here is ambitious so I'm guessing the pizzas will be big, then you factor in that at least one of us won't have a large appetite, so even if you have the biggest slices there'll still be more than enough for me." And she wouldn't have to go lifting too many fingers. Neat, huh? But yes, follow Lottie's lead Grayson, she knew what she was doing--not that she doubted he didn't too but you always had more faith in the bestfriend, it was just a thing. "Lemme know when we get to easy stuff." Granted what they were doing now was easy but shh, for now she was supervising. Busy work, it was. |
Caleb had to admit, he was kind of relieved they got to use at least a LITTLE bit of magic in here. He always felt weird when he DIDN'T use magic in class. Cause that was like the whole point of Hogwarts, right? To learn MAGIC? First step - the water. "Aguamenti!" he muttered, filling up his measuring cup until it got to the cup and a half mark. He then took his bowl and added the water to it, then the tablespoon of sugar, and the tablespoon of yeast. Now he just had to wait until it bubbled up! |
Step 1 Redo Quote:
This time he measured and added the sugar salt and water himself, combining it just enough before setting it aside. They had ten minutes to wait before the next step. "How about I handle the mixing and you help by handing over the stuff when its needed," he suggested. That way they were still working together but there was more control. |
Step one-bay Quote:
"maybe you should tie up your hair?" he said… he surely loved Lux but he wouldn't like it to much if her long strands of red hair was in their food plus he just wanted an excuse to be closer to her. he he. |
Quote:
After washing her hands again, Lux looked back at the board to see what they needed to do. "Okay, so I add the salt now..." In it went as she spoke. "And now you put those muscles to work and stir." Beam. |
step two/three- bay Quote:
He placed the wooden spoon in the bowl and started to mix everything to gather and man it was getting harder and harder every time he put the wooden spoon through the mixture. Everything was starting to blend and mix together now.. Noticing that the next step says to add 1/2 cup of flour he stopped mixing.. "so it looks like now we need that 1/2 cup of flour… and when I'm done mixing that all the way through you can add more of it while I'm mixing it?" he just loved working with Lux.. its like she could read his mind. |
Steps 2 + 3 SPOILER!!: Instructions for future reference Taking a look at his over sugared mixture (oops), Zander happily moved on to step number two! This time he made sure to measure out the salt to the exact right amount and he didn't measure it over his bowl. Because you have to learn from mistakes. And that's how he rolled. Then he did the flour stuff, starting with a small amount and working his way up to the 3 1/2 cups that he ended up using. It looked the right consistency? It was supposed to be sticky right? That's a thing. Wait. Just kidding. Hadley had said NOT sticky okay, so maybe another 1/2 cup? That should do the trick. Zander stirred so much that his arms were starting to get really tired. Yeah he definitely needed to go to that workout workshop for sure. Such a weakling. |
Quote:
Adding the flour to the bowl, she started measuring out more so that it could be added in as well while Bay kept stirring. This was so much fun. They were the best team ever! |
Step one and twoooo O.o!!!!!! They were baking pizza?! *INNER SCREAM OF HAPPINESSS* Pizza eating was his strong suit, yes, but...baking it...or baking AT ALL...not so much. Ugh, now he was having flashbacks to the Home Ec. Muggle Studies classes he had back at Winchester. *shudder* At least he had help then. Looks like he'll be tackling this sooollloooo. He jotted down the recipe on a piece of parchment, placing a waterproofing spell on it after just in case he spilled something. These are the types of days he wished he had Italian up in his Scottish and British roots. Following the recipe, he combined water, sugar, and the yeast together in a big bowl. He let it sit for 10 minutes, passing time by drawing tiny pizzas on another piece of parchment. Once he started the notice the bubbles forming in the yeast, he moved on to step two, which was adding salt and stirring. Simple, right? Too simple...:shifty: Declan added it anyways and stirred. Hey, at least there's no animal hearts in this like that potion professor was feeding them. Good, good. SPOILER!!: la ricetta |
Next, add the salt and stir. But stir for HOW LONG? Until it was mixed? He had to remind himself that this wasn't potions, and it wasn't exact stirring and temperature in baking like in potions. Yes Caleb, just remind yourself of that. So he took the half teaspoon of salt and added it to the mixture, which was now bubbling just as Hadley had said, and began to stir. And stir and stir and stir. Once he was pretty sure it was all stirred together, he had to add the flour. But only half a cup of flour, according to the instructions. So he did that, stirring some more before adding another half a cup once that first batch was mixed in with the dough thoroughly. Ugh. His arm was starting to hurt... |
continuing step three Quote:
"when ever your ready Lux" he said as he was still mixing. |
Quote:
Slowly, she added another 1/2 Cup of flour to the mixture while Bay stirred. "This makes 1 Cup of flour, so we still have at least 2 Cups to go." Best case scenario they wouldn't need the 4 1/2 Cups of it. Time to get more flour ready. |
His question was answered right away. So even if his pizza was horrible he would still get some. Nigel could live with that. But there was the small problem of knowing the difference between a table and tea spoon. He never cooks so how would he know. Meh he would just with it and see what happens. Sounds like fun. Though this sounded more like a potions class than anything else with all the instructions. Maybe there is a correlation. But that would be too much effort to find out. Nigel put his hair back and out of the way. As long as this was not like Transfig it would be cool. Equal rights and whatnot. So Nigel was ready to start or so he think. Partners are meh. |
Step 2 and 3: Jasmine The yeast was beginning to bubble!! "Um....Jasmine is this supposed to happen?" Cris glanced away from the bowl and over to his girlfriend. Cris quickly reviewed the recipe written on the chalkboard and breathed a sigh of relief. Ten minutes were up and so did the yeast. Well if up meant that it was bubbly. Check. Step one completed. Now for the next step. Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt and then stir. Then the flour. Easy peasy. Cris picked up a teaspoon and measured out half a teaspoon of salt and added that into the bowl. Then he picked up the wooden spoon, placed the bowl in the crook of his arm and began stirring the salt into the mixture. As he stirred, he turned to Jasmine, "Is it time for you to add the flour now? I can keep stirring while you do that," Cris offered as he tilted the bowl to give Jasmine easier access to the bowl he was holding in his arm. Stir....stir....stir.... |
Text Cut: XD SNORT. Trust Alexa Cambridge to not want to kill someone because the method was not creative enough. He was amused. Really. "Good to know that you're not going to try and poison me, then." Thank YOU, Cambridge. "If you find a more creative method, let me know so I can prepare in advance, mkay?" Joking, he was. Winks were appreciated too. Uh huh. "Thanks!" Wink in return for you, unknown person. Oh? OH. There was a DEAL going on. Grayson smirked to himself as he followed the grey-aproned girl's lead and added half a teaspoon of salt and stirred it. It was interesting to see what these two were like, especially new girl over here. He cleaned the cup and was about to scoop up some flour when something interesting reached his ears and he paused. We. Him and new girl. Biggest slices. Still smirking, he looked over at Lex. Two of them were ambitious? Which two? No no, scratch that. Which OTHER person was ambitious? Because she obviously included him in that group. Uh huh. "Dunno how you just managed to wangle the deal to suit you but that's impressive." Honest truth right there. "You sure you're not secretly in Slytherin?" And him and the pretty one were still getting the bigger slices. Yes. Nevermind that she had sprayed his apron with flour. And that something inside of him was all up for a flour fight. Oh please. Somebody start that already! Grayson scooped up half a cup of flour and added it to his dough before setting it down and mixing the flour with the dough. He didn't care that it stuck to his fingers but that didn't stop him from making a face as he used MORE flour to make the dough less sticky. And to get the sticky dough OFF of his hands. When he found it becoming less and less sticky, the fourth year looked over at Lex and said, "Maybe you can start with the bowls and cooking spray?" And looks over towards new girl for clarification. Hello. Text Cut: Instructions |
Step One Alright time for pizza making! Kace was excited about this. He heard the professor and aaaahh he got the butter and olive oil mixed up. Woopsies. He knew it was something along those lines. But anyways onto the task at hand. He got all his ingredients. He decided he wanted to make the pizza for himself. He wrote down the ingredients in his notebook. SPOILER!!: Pizza Recipe Alright so he got his one bowl. He needed to add the water, sugar and yeast. That seemed logical enough. He needed 1 1/2 cup of water. He got his liquid measuring cup and measured the water from the faucet. He poured in into the mixing bowl. He got his measuring spoons and found the tablespoons. He got that and measured the sugar. He added it in gracefully. Then he used the tablespoon for the yeast and added it in. He needed to it stand for at least 10 mins. He would add salt in later. Now onto the next step... |
Text Cut: I can't XD As if Lex would give him full disclosure of killing methods. Seriously. New boy. Yes, about that deal... Lotus was basically making her own pizza, it was probably the Slytherin boy who would be sharing with Lex, or did she forget to let them know? Oops. They should've read the fine print. She wouldn't mind sharing one slice with her best friend. And her boyfriend... who was... apparently done with the first steps. Right. She wasn't surprised at that. Smirk. See, this is why Lex and Lottie were best friends. "You don't get to decide on toppings either, unless you add them, Lex." THIS could be a potential problem since Lottie would only add one. Luckily for Lex, she'd still eat it since it would be pepperoni. IF they were allowed the toppings they wanted, that is. Because they'd have toppings, right? Suddenly, that was the most important thing in Lottie's mind. Hello, Slytherin boy. That's a great idea, actually. "Speaking of easy stuff... go on and do as he says, best friend." A smile was in place for Lex. She could do that, right? While Lottie and... what was his name, by the way? ...worked on the dough. |
SPOILER!!: Pizza Buddies! He wanted to be clued in on how she'd out him? "What have I told you about how knowing things detracts from how epic they'll be?" It was the same principle as the perks he wanted to know about. Knowing made them less cool, or had he already forgotten? "Most I'd tell you is the time, but not the day, just so you can freak at that hour every day til it finally happens." If it ever does. Sometimes mind tricks were enough, she'd learned that. Lex watched the two with their preparation of the dough? Was that it, yeah. It was a part of the pizza, the name wasn't that important to her anyway, just the watching and not getting in the way. She smirked at what she'd be taking as a compliment from Whitlock. "I have my ways." Of making things work for her that is. "And my father was a Slytherin, taught me everything he knows." A double benefit for her right there. Her father was cool--not as cool as if he'd have been a Gryffindor but you know--and he taught her how to get what she wanted, even if it did backfire on him sometimes. Not her fault. Lex looked to Lottie at the mention of adding toppings. "I can do that. What kind do we have?" She glanced around the kitchen. "I don't reckon there's chocolate." Not to put ON the pizza, but to munch on while she added said toppings. It could be tiring work you know and she was missing the taste of sugar in her mouth right about now. Oh, the easy part was here? She gave them a salute before grabbing the first bowl and heavily coating it with the spray. No one said how much. Don't question it. The second wasn't coated with as much but she was seriously thinking about it while she glanced back at the intstructions. "Done." |
Alllllllllllllllllright, he was on step three now. The seventeen year-old readied himself in front of the bowl and scooped up 1/2 cup of flour to pour gradually into the bowl. Coolcoolcool. It took about three 1/2 cups for the dough to stop being such a baby and let go of the bowl. Declan poked in his pinky just to be sure it didn't fool him and grab on. Good. Everything is going according to plan. This is good, yes. Okay, so now he had to spray the other bowl. He reached over for the cooking spray, accidentally knocking over a cup of flour. NOT IN HIS BOWL, THANK GOODNESS, but now there was a mess everywhere. He'll get to that in a bit. He sprayed the other bowl thoroughly and then focused on his doughbaby in the previous bowl. LIIIIIIIIFT. DROP. Cool. Dec threw a cover over his doughbaby and made a mental timer of 45 minutes. This would be a good time to clean that flour mess, gosh. Text Cut: Recipe |
Step 1 and 2 Arista took her red hair and put it into a pony tail, check no hair would be getting into her dough. Now time for the apron, she went and grabbed one and tied it around her. So now it was time to cook. Seeing the recipe on the chalkboard she wrote it down in her notebook. SPOILER!!: Pizza Recipe She grabbed one of the bowls, the sugar, and yeast. For the water she used the measuring cup and pointed her wand down into there, "Aguamenti!" She stopped when there was 1 and 1/2 cups of water. Perfect. She poured in the tablesspoon of sugar and yeast and then the water. She mixed it all up and smiled. Now she had to wait... She hated waiting. Was it bubbly yet? She looked down into the bowl, nope. But only a minute had passed anyways. *Ten Minutes Later* Yay, it was bubbly!! She added the 1/2 teaspoon of salt and gave the mixture a stir. |
Step 1 & 2 Well, she wouldn't need to tie her back because that was already done. AJ almost always had her hair back in a ponytail, it was less maintenance that way. She quickly walked over and washed her hands well. Hmm... she wasn't a huge fan of cooking, but she did enjoy eating so she was ready to get it done so she could have some tasty pizza in her belly. Looking at the directions on the board, AJ got done and dirty. The first year measured out the water, sugar and yeast. Grabbing her bowl, she added the water humming to herself. Then came the sugar and yeast. Once she had everything added her eyes scanned the board once more and she realized that she three tablespoons of sugar instead of one. O_O Whoooops. That wouldn't matter much right? Now she had to wait. This was AJ's least favorite part. |
Adding flour and then stirring was getting monotonous and boringgggg. Plus Caleb's arm was starting to hurt! How did muggles DO this? It was so much easier to just charm the spoon to stir for him. Easy peasy. Too bad that wasn't allowed... Once he was certain the dough was the correct consistency - he remembered his gran giving him some pizza dough to play with when he was younger, and it was something similar to that in front of him now - he checked the next step. Spray the bowl with cooking spray and put the dough in it. Easy enough. He grabbed the cooking spray and coated the inside of the bowl, and then, out of pure curiosity, ran his finger along the edge, wondering what it tasted like. EWW EWW NO NOT GOOD TASTING BLEGH. |
So the sugar was for the dough. Ok, that was surprising. It didn't seem like enough to make the dough too sweet or anything. Layla quickly tied her hair back and put on an apron, careful to tie the back well enough to keep it tied and washed her hands. Once that was done, she grabbed a bowl, added the water and began measuring out the sugar. Of course, she went the easiest way about this, sticking the tablespoon directly in the package of sugar and lifting, brushing off the extra and dumping it in the bowl. She repeated this process with the yeast, then set the mixture aside. Once the yeast was bubbly, she measured out the 1/2 a teaspoon of salt before adding it to the mixture and grabbing a wooden mixing spoon and stirring. And then came the flour. Layla decided that the best way to go about this was the same way that she'd gone about the sugar and yeast. Dipping the 1/2 cup measuring cup into the bag and brushing off the extra. Doing this, she added her first 1/2 cup and started mixing it in using her hands. It was really sticky. Seriously sticky. Like, sticking to her hands. She hurriedly added another 1/2 cup of flour, using her hands again to mix. A little better, but still sticky. In went another 1/2 cup. Mix, a little better. Another 1/2 cup. Little better. She added three and a half cups of the flour before it started pulling away from the bowl and stopped sticking to her hands. She dusted her hands with some flour, just in case, before gathering the dough up and rolling it into one big ball of dough. Next step. Layla put the dough ball back down into the bowl she'd mixed it in for a moment before grabbing a second bowl and spraying it down with the cooking spray. She picked her dough ball back up and placed it in the newly sprayed bowl and covered it with plastic wrap before setting it aside to rise. |
Cris SPOILER!!: Cris "Flour coming up", Jasmine said. Picking up the dry measuring cup, Jasmine measured 4 cups of flour, one cup at a time and poured them into a second bowl. Then she added the final 1/2 cup to the bowl. Having measured out all of the flour, Jasmine was now ready to add flour to the mixture. Taking the 1/2 cup measuring cup, Jasmine filled it with flour. She began to slowly pour the flour into the mixture that Cris was stirring. "OK Cris, keep stirring. When it looks pretty well blended, I'll add the next 1/2 cup of flour." As Cris continued to stir, Jasmine continued to add flour 1/2 cup at a time. Glancing at her notes, she told Cris, "It says to keep adding flour until the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl and no longer sticks to your fingers." "Keep stirring for now and we'll keep an eye on the dough." Things were looking good so far and Jasmine hoped that they would be able to pull this off. |
Steps 1 + 2 Text Cut: professor What was that look for? Of course she was gonna make it. She'd cooked loads of times before anyway and even got an O on her OWL for this class for it. The only O she'd gotten. Mhm. So anyway Penelope quickly scribbled down the recipe and ingredient amounts since it'd be easier to just look down at her notes than to keep looking over at the board and then tied her hair back in a messy sort of bun, slipped on an apron, and washed her hands. She was pretty sure her hands were clean, but washing your hands, even if you thought they were fine, was generally a good idea. Just in case. Now to start making the dough.... Hadley'd given the okay to using the Aguamenti spell, but this WAS Muggle Studies, so Penelope didn't feel like falling back on magic right now, even if it was just one spell. So she took a measuring cup over to a sink and measured out 1 1/2 cups of warm water, then poured that into a bowl. Measuring out a tablespoon of sugar came next, that was added to the bowl, and then measuring out a tablespoon of yeast, and that was added too. And then once those were all combined, it was time to wait... Waiting was always the boring part of cooking. Well...it wasn't usually boring if she had, y'know, Ascanius with her, but Hadley probably wouldn't be happy if she let him distract her right now. So she stood there and looked around, glancing briefly at everyone before looking back at her bowl and then repeating the process until... She wasn't entirely sure if ten minutes had passed or if the yeast had decided to bubble before a whole ten minutes was up, but either way it meant it was time for the next step. So the 1/2 teaspoon of salt went in and she began stirring. Text Cut: recipe |
Step 2 (for real this time) & 3 Dangit, she had forgotten to add the salt and to stir it. It had been well over ten minutes, how many exactly, she couldn't be sure. AJ was messing this up big time. Her mum would be shaking her head at her right about now. Maybe the whole ten minute thing was lax. Was there somebody who went around testing recipes every minute to see at what minute was the best? She seriously doubted that. Everything was going to be just fine. Next she added 1/2 cup of flour and mixed it until her little arms felt like they were going to fall off. What was the point of being a witch again? She had been doing things the old fashioned way all her life, and now she wanted to use her handy, dandy magic stick. Looking at her creation she decided that more flour was definitely needed. Carefully she sifted more flour and then all of a sudden a big blob of flour fell into the bowl. That was definitely more than what was called for. The first year just kept mixing it together. There was nothing to see here. |
Text Cut: Casually discussing murder while making pizza. No big deal He should have realised that he'd get an answer like THAT. Seriously, man, think about who you're talking to. "Okay, fine. But that means that it has to be epic otherwise I'm going to be disappointed." A bit of a morbid topic, this one was, but his current level of care was at the same level as his level of niceness. "Spoooooooky!" he said, waving his flour-covered fingers at her, "I'm sure I'll wet my pants out of fright up until that momentous occasion." That MIGHT have been sarcastic. Maybe. They can decide. Something they couldn't decide was who was going to end up sharing their pizza with Lex. Grayson was in his happy, blissfully unaware state where he'd share a small portion of his pizza with Lex and the pretty one could share a bit more of hers. Uh huh. Completely unaware. Her father being a Slytherin doubled up with her being in Gryffindor made a lot of sense. No really, it did. "Bet he'd be proud about that. It must be a dangerous combination, being brave and cunning." And then he turned to new girl over here because he hardly knew her. Didn't even know her NAME. Jeez. "What about you? Do I need to watch out for your cunningness too?" The topic of toppings came next and Grayson was only half paying attention. Only half. But he did manage to pick up on what Lex said about chocolate. "Are you seriously thinking about putting chocolate on pizza?!" Weren't they going to put tomato on there instead? Bit of a weird combina-- Oh sweet Merlin. This was how she was going to kill him. Not poison or any of that nonsense. Bad food combinations. And to think he hadn't even gotten that leather jacket yet. SIGH. And the surprises kept on coming, didn't they? Grayson, who was patting the dough down to make sure it wasn't sticky, looked up and over at the two girls. "What in the name of Merlin? You two are best friends?!" Oh jeez. Oh man oh man, this explained EVERYTHING. And why had they not bothered to mention this before? HELLO. This was kinda important. Don't leave him all wishy washy like the clothes in a washing machine. Giving the dough one last pat, the fourth year placed it in the bowl with less cooking spray -- not that he knew that -- and covered it. 45 minutes starting now! Text Cut: Instructions |
Steps 4 + 5 SPOILER!!: instructions for reference Grabbing the other bowl from the table, Zander made sure to spray it everywhere. What does cooking spray even do? Does it cook the dough? But isn't the oven for that? Either way, if Hadley said so...... Zander grabbed his, now, giant chunk of dough and plopped it into the bowl. Then he covered it all up. And now he waits. HADLEYYYYYY what is there to do noooooooow. Zander was soooo bored. They can't just sit and wait for 45 minutes. He could hardly even sit here for the two minutes that have already gone by. Blegh. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. |
Steps 2 & 3 Checking the mixture, Beverly made sure it was bubbly before she added salt. Her pizza HAD to be perfect, and it WAS going to be. She wasn't a newbie at this, so she expected the best from herself. Having done the first step, she continued on with the second one, which was adding salt. Doing that she stirred carefully, totally feeling like a master chef AND a potions mistress. Right up next was the flour. Beverly bit her lip to keep from grinning to herself. Flour brought memories, actually, this whole dough-making process did. Heh. She shook her head. Whoa! No. Get your head in the game, Wayne. She took some flour, about half a cup and added it to the bowl. Then, bit by bit added more until the dough looked like dough and pulled away from the bowl. It was still sticking a bit onto her fingers, so she added just a tiiiiny bit more. Finally, after some time, the dough didn't stick neither to the bowl or her fingers and she stopped with the flour. There. What pretty dough, Beverly style. |
Grabbing Nigel, starting step 1 Quote:
And yes, they were partners now. Decided. Her hair was already pulled back in a ponytail and their work station was all prepared with ingredients, so they were good to get this pizza-making started. She pulled one of the mixing bowls closer to them, then reached for the yeast and sugar. "Want to grab the water?" |
