Simon walked into the door of the Muggle Studies classroom. He couldn't believe that a school that was filled with magical people had a class about regular muggles. He grinned as he entered the room. Oh boy, he was certainly going to enjoy this class. He wondered what they were going to learn about in this class. He gave the Professor a shy smile and a nod. "Hello Professor Hadley," he said as he walked past her desk, picked up a name tag and green marker. Simon quickly wrote his name down and then placed the name tag on him. He made sure that his handwriting was neat and legible. That was a always a good start.

His eyes scanned the classroom as he looked for a familiar face. He found Cutty and gave the boy a friendly wave and nod. His eyes continued looking for another familiar face and then he found Ethan sitting next to a Ravenclaw girl. He gave his friend a smile and grabbed the open seat on the other side to him. "Hey. Ready for this class?" he asked as he opened up his backpack and started unpacking his notebook and pens.

Ethan spotted Simon right away and gave him a salute as his friend took the seat beside him. Was he ready? Oh yes, he is! "I'm pumped! Can't wait to unfold more muggle mysteries." Although he did grow up in the muggle world, there were still things that are unclear to him. It must be his wizarding blood talking, but there are things that can be easily accomplished by magic, yeah? The young Slytherin will be forever baffled as to why muggles love to complicate things.

Mhm.

Ethan watched as Simon prepped for the lesson. And...oops. He forgot to bring his muggle pencil! His beloved muggle pencil. "Er...Simon? Is it okay if I borrow one of your pens?" And can he borrow the green one too? Thanks.

Jeremiah walked in with a grin on his face, this class he was particularly good at, Muggle stuff was right up the boys alley thanks to his sister. with his bag slug on his shoulder he was excited to bring pens and pencils other tan a self inking quill and even brought extras in case others needed them, if they didn't read the noticeboard. "Hello Professor!" he was chipper she could tell, yeah? Grabbing a orange marker and a red name tag cos gryffindor, and also cos it was the one on top of the pile he was just lucky like that. He scribbled his name on and year on it and stuck it to his robes, yup good.

Fifth Year

"Hey, Whitty." The boy greeted back casually, making room for his fellow he-snake at the near-by seat.






The Slytherin audibly growled at being separated from his housemate by Abbi's BIG BOTTOM. She was, in fact, a small girl, but at the time, Cutty's thoughts were only on the interceding gesture. Well, if she wanted to make an Abbi sandwich, seemed a shame to waste a perfectly good opportunity. Cutty smiled and waved at the tiny lioness.

What was she even talking about? Grayson Whitlock hadn't misspelled his name. Wait, were the name tags charmed to read letters other than the ones written by the students so that they'd have to figure out Muggle means of correcting them? Is that what the Professor had meant by not getting too settled into their seats? Cutty took a look around the classroom, trying to absorb everyone's names before they changed.




Cutty waved over to Simon as he entered and greeted him first. There were a lot of Slytherin boys this term, but to Cutty that was a good thing. Less to stand out amongst. He never had to be that token Slytherin student again. Not like last year where they were being eaten alive by Hufflepuffs, it seemed.

"Mordaunt." He greeted Ethan too as Simon took a seat next to him. Ethan was the most popular boy in school. Good people to know. Yes.

Merlin. Was this class going to get started soon? The smell of the markers was threatening to give Cutty hallucinations. Wonderful, wonderful hallucinations.

Oh....

Was he..

Oh, there was boy sitting next to her.

Judging by the green robes, he must've been from the Slytherin House. Josie gave him a side glance as he sat beside her and scribble his name down on his name tag. She had tensed up when she saw him...wave at her? Josie looked at him to see him smiling at her, & she felt her cheeks feel very warm as they were beginning to redden. She gave a very faint wave back in his direction not too long after he'd waved to her.

..Her blue eyes immediately averting back towards her desk.

"Hey, Mordaunt!" Hehehehe. Cool, yeah? They should really start confusing the people around here. Ethan made a mental note about asking his pseudo cousin/twin brother about him and that girl back in the Common Room. He never got the chance to talk to him again about it.

Who knows? Maybe he'll be needing his assistance, a.k.a singing? Heh.

Why?

Ethan’s enthusiastic wave died down and his smile slowly faded. The Slytherin scratched the back of his head confused, and glanced quickly at Simon. He just waved and smiled, but the boy felt that he did something wrong? Was…waving and smiling offensive? He did see her small wave. But, was that actually a wave or a gesture that he should move away from her?

Confusing, this one was.

But hey, look! She's a Ravenclaw. He met Coop, and Eagle Sophie, and Jasmine, and Mo…and they were all friendly and energetic compared to his seatmate. “Er…are you okay?” Blink. Blink. It was just a wave and a smile that he did a few seconds ago...unless of course he looked like a weirdo while doing it.

On second thought, maybe he did look like one.

Hmm.

"Pleasure to meet you, Jasmine and what a lovely name!" See, this is why the nametags. Though she knew most of the students who'd taken Muggle Studies before there were lots of new transfers, so best to just make everyone rather than single out the new people.

"Hello Layla! Welcome back!" See, she remembered her prior students, even those who'd only been with her a year...

And another unfamiliar face, so not completely unjust and definitely easier than having them state their name before answering a question. "Wonderful, thank you!" Considering today's lesson plans, how could she not be?

And another new student; well new to Muggle Studies at least, she recalled seeing his face around the castle last term. "Likewise ...." she beamed back as he introduced himself. "Cutty."

Heh, that name had a nice ring to it. It amused Fina for a brief second. "Welcome to Hogwarts, Lucy! Morning!"

"Morning," Fina offered in return, to another newcomer.

And a returning student! She smiled though at his comment. "Excellent to hear, Mister Toussaint." Perhaps the attention thing was cause he realized his OWL exams were looming nearer? Either way, paying attention was always a good thing.

Blink, blink. Was she seeing double? Fina frowned glancing from the girl before to another who'd just entered moments prior. How come no one informed her there were identical twins coming to Hogwarts this year? That would've been NICE to know. And both Lions too; Merlin, she felt bad for Seren.

"Hello, welcome!" She replied finally, shaking herself out of her reverie.


Ah, one of her best students was back again. "Hello, Adi, welcome back," she smiled at the young Hufflepuff, as she took a seat.

What was that LOOK when he saw nametags? From a new student too. Really. Did he not see that this was easier than stating names before speaking? Figures he had on Slytherin robes this one.

"Hello there ..." she waited, as he filled out the nametag, since he hadn't introduced himself. "Grayson."

See now that there's a nice polite student; a returning one too and one of her best. "Morning Bay," she nodded at him.

Ooh, one of her new Hufflepuffs, whom she hadn't had the pleasure of meeting yet! Beaming at her energy, she smiled back. "Hello there! Welcome!" Ooh, lovely flowers too. Quite the artistic one, Fina noted.

Fina nodded at another returning student who entered quietly and politely filled out the nametag but then was leaning back in his chair ...... oh no he was not doing the thing that was like a teacher's biggest pet peeve. REALLY?? Innocently watching him, she inconspicuously and non-verbally cast a spell to push the chair back just a little bit more....

.... and then turned her attention towards another student; the female Newell! She knew this one too! Fina gave her a brief nod and smile. Now where was the male half?

"Hello, Schuyler. Welcome back!" Fina nodded at the seventh year.

Aw ...... someone remembered at gave her a welcome back; since unless they'd been at breakfast the morning of return, most probably hadn't seen her since June. "Hello there, Ben, and thank you."

And another welcome back ........ Well sorta. "Hello Tobias! Thank you and it's good to be back and see you as well!"

"Hello, Abbi. Welcome back," she smiled at the Gryffindor as she took a seat and watched her curiously as she stuck her nametag on the back of the Slytherin. It seemed she wasn't the only shifty one in the room - so clearly she could just blame it on the Gryffindor.


Another of her best students! Beaming at the third year when she entered, she greeted her back as well, "Welcome back, Lux." And smiled in amusement when she crossed out her nametag and wrote a nickname.

Ah, there was the male Newell; she knew he couldn't be far behind his sister. "Hello, Caleb," she returned his greeting.

Noting another quiet student, she made careful note of his name on his nametag, because she didn't know this student...

Ah ... another Strand, Fina quickly deduced from his familiar but new face, as he wrote his name on the label. Clearly explained how he knew of her pregnancy. "Hello there and thank you! Welcome to Hogwarts yourself, as well as Hufflepuff." Like brother, like brother? They were brothers, right?

Heh. There was something with Hufflepuffs and flowers? Was she drawing Marigold flowers too? Symbolism and all. Beaming at the fourth year, she greeted her back. "Hello there, Marigold! Welcome back!"

She felt horribly guilty when Alexa had seen her and stared that fateful afternoon in Diagon Alley. HORRIBLE way for her student to find out, but the Gryffindor should have used her bravery and NON-SHYNESS to come over to her and talk to her instead of just stare. Really.

Like now; she wasn't afraid of speaking now. But seeing her in London created feelings of shyness? Oh well. She'd get over it; probably after this lesson.

"Hello, Alexa...." No Prefect Cambridge this time. ".... The baby boy is great, thanks."


Another sarcastic one. Shaking her head at his nickname on his label, she smiled at Tag. Yes, she knew his name, of course, but did he not realize it was for the OTHER students. And she didn't want to single out those who she didn't know, so she just made it uniform, because there was a mix of known and unknown students here...

Like this one. Unknown. It was a lot of unknown. Seriously; Gryffindors, thinking they were the center of everything.

"Hello there, welcome," she beamed at the first year.


"Hello there, Lotus and thank you! It's good to be back." She beamed at the sixth year, ignoring the fact that she didn't write 'Lotus Wisteria' on her nametag. Because she knew this one's name.

Another of her best students. "Hello there, Beverly! Welcome back!" she beamed at the Slytherin.

"Thanks, Demelza," she greeted back, not QUITE as enthusiastic as the seventh year, sadly.

And another newcomer; Fina nodded at the new young Ravenclaw, as she quietly took a seat. Hopefully these students would warm up once the lesson started?

The other third year Sophie was here! Because yes, even though this one hadn't been in her classes before, she knew her from Quidditch reasons, even if she didn't really know her. But now she could!

"Hi Sophie! Welcome!"

Was it just her or were there quite a few seventh years this term? "Hello, Penelope," she greeted to the Gryffindor, reminiscing for just a moment, how it felt like just yesterday the Ravenclaw Greenwell was graduating. My how time flies.

Well wasn't someone just up for flattering the professor today? But didn't he learn by now that flattery gets one nowhere? Actually, he probably hadn't.

"Hello Ascanius," she greeted back, simply acknowledging the latter comment with a nod of appreciation.

Oh Merlin. She was definitely getting old. Considering it seemed like YESTERDAY when Dash Scabior was teaching History of Magic and had brought his son in .... and now said-son was a FIRST YEAR?!? LIKE how? She sighed, thinking that would be her in eleven years, but right now couldn't imagine anything but diapers and baby food.

"Welcome back, Kyroh." Because he'd been here before, even if this was his first time taking classes.

Heh. Awesome?

Leave it to a Prefect to come up with that name. But alas, it was Nigel's last year. Sniff. She flashed him a brief smile of welcome though.

"Hello there, Kace and thank you! It's good to be back!" She beamed at him.

And another new student. This one too was clad in red robes. Had Seren tricked the sorting hat into sorting everyone into Gryffindor or something? "Hello there!" she greeted back.

Well this was awkward and quite the surprise when one of her young Hufflepuffs wrapped her arms around her middle. Patting her gently on the shoulders, she smiled back. "Likewise, likewise, Leah." She swallowed, grateful when the second year released her and took a seat. Sweet intentions, really, they were.

Now here was a polite transfer. At least they weren't ALL snotty like that Slytherin one ... Grayson. Introduce yourself if you're new. It made sense to Fina. "Nice to meet you, Bryant. Looking forward to seeing you around." She was, truly, because she always looked forward to seeing nice polite students. They gave hope for humanity.

"Hello there, welcome!" she greeted back to another new Ravenclaw.

So sweet. So quiet. Nodding at the small Ravenclaw (had eagles and lions taken over or something? o.O), she smiled grateful at her politeness. "Thank you, Josette. I'm quite alright." It wasn't as if SHE aged fifty years or so like everyone else had, last term. Nope, she'd been exempt from the curse or whatever and retained her youth.

"Good day, Ethan," she noted in response to the young Slytherin, as he settled in next to the young Ravenclaw Josette.

Another Seventh year. Yup. Seventh years, eagles and lions had totally taken over the school this term. Only this one - Lily - was a quiet one, more insightful than chatterer. Nodding in politeness at the seventh year, she noted the time and figured it was just about time to begin.



Right after the last two students just barely made it on time. Another new one? Or at least knew to Muggle Studies, but he seemed to know a few students (which wasn't unlikely even for a new student since they'd been at school now for a few months). "Hello there! Welcome," she beamed back at the two boys, before closing the classroom door after them and walking over to set the markers and remaining tags on her desk.


Now facing the class, her hands clasped together in front her she patiently waited for the students to settle in and quiet down (the few who were talking to their neighbors anyway). "Hello, hello! As most of you already know, I'm Professor Hadley. Bit of a background for you; this will be my third year teaching Muggle Studies, but before that I taught Arithmancy for ten years here at Hogwarts and before that, Charms for two years in South Africa. I grew up in a muggle neighborhood so despite my mother being a witch, we did a lot of things the 'muggle way'. I'm here to help you, so if you have any questions about anything, muggle related or not, don't hesitate to visit me." And that just about summed up the basics anyway. Now onto the lesson.

"Anyway, onto our first lesson. As I made note of on the notice board, I think this lesson is important for anyone. It will be slightly basic, but hopefully informative, even if you already know some about the topic. Just to see what you know; who can explain to me the difference between cooking and baking?"

Josette began to panic as she'd seen his smile fading. Oh goodness, did she upset him or something? Had she offended him? DRATS! That wasn't her intention at all. Curse these awkward moments that always happened to the second year! She was internally panicking as she tried to come up with something to say before he became to get anymore upset. But somehow, these words sort blurted out of her mouth a bit, "Mhmm, I-I'm good-I-uh mean..I'm fine..-just-uh.." She shut her mouth and stopped herself before sort of holding her hand out. "I-I'm Josette.." A small smile forming.

...

OH, class had begun.

Her blue eyes looking towards the Professor as she had begun the lesson. What was the difference between Cooking & Baking? She paused as she began to think about it. Not being someone who cooked a lot, she wasn't entirely sure. But she'd figure she'd give her some form of an answer. Her hand slowly raised, "P-Professor, might cooking be more so used for creating meals & such..While b-baking could be more commonly used to bake sweets? Or perhaps things like bread?"

....but before he could even get a response from the Ravenclaw, Professor Hadley decided to start the lecture. Ethan gave his very quiet seatmate a nod and a grin, and listened to the professor.

Wow. Arithmancy for ten years? Interesting. Hmm. Maybe the Headmistress can't find a suitable replacement for her because she's that good?

Maybe.

Onto the lesson now! Cooking and Baking? Oh. OH. He knows this one! "Professor." Ethan raised his hand before he proceeded. "Cooking is some sort of experiment. My mom used to do the...'add-this-add-that' method. While Baking is...I guess pretty much like Potions? You have to be very specific about the ingredients and its quantity." That's at least what his mother used to do.

So...will they bake and cook today? He's ready!...to eat. Noms!

Cooking and baking? Was there a difference? They was definitely one similarity and that was they both involved making food. However, since the Professor had asked for a difference, Cris had to believe there were differences.

So he sat back and thought for while trying to remember what his mother did in the kitchen with the house elves, and eventually concluding that there were indeed differences, Cris raised his hand.

"Professor, cooking involves the preparation of food into meals which can be done in various ways like frying, sautéing, or stir frying of foods in a pan, pot or wok. I guess baking is another part of cooking only that involves putting the prepared food in an oven to bake on dry heat. ."

Was he right?

Sophie was RIGHT THERE NEXT TO HIM, which was always cause enough for Toby to smile even wider than usual. He gave her a 'sup' nod right back, plus a little nudge with his elbow. Hi Sophie. Hey.

While he waited for the class to start, Toby let one of his legs swing back and forth beneath him, sole of his foot just brushing the floor. He was already wondering if there would be a practical part to this lesson, 'cause he was REALLY in the kind of mood to be moving about.

Aaaaaaaaaaaand they were starting..............

.................... and THIS was why it was a good idea that Toby was in this class. He literally didn't have a clue of the specific differences like the other kids in here seemed to know. Were THEY all muggleborn, or did they simply know this stuff? Was it in the textbook? He should really read the textbook.

Toby scribbled down some notes and raised his hand, fingers waggling in the air. With his other hand, he tapped the feathered end of his quill on the desk, while his leg still swung beneath the table.

"Uhhh, I guess all baking is cooking, but not all cooking is baking."

Would they be learning to COOK? Boy oh boy, Toby was awful at cooking, this could be a super helpful lesson if that was the direction they were going.

Jasmine was hoping that she was going to enjoy this class. She knew a thing or two about muggle living and hopefully this knowledge would help her out in Muggle Studies.

When the Professor asked a question about cooking vs. baking, Jasmine raised her hand. "Cooking is usually done on a stove or a grill. Baking is done in an oven. You bake things like bread, cakes and pies, but you can also bake meats and fish.". Baking was something that Jasmine enjoyed very much, especially desserts.

Oh look what the wind blew in.

Grayson groaned and rolled his eyes. Freaking Merlin why did SHE have to come over here and ruin things? And she knew Cutty? Cutty Mordaunt? He wanted to ask how he managed to survive being around HER but he stopped himself when a quick glance had been made over towards the Professor.

She was greeting him. And smiling innocently, too. Grayson narrowed his eyes at her before saying, "I don't care if you like me or whatever. There's no need to get so touchy feely. We're in a lesson." JEEZ. Girls. Stop patting him and smiling like that at him, mkay? It was freaking weird.

And if she was joining them oh-so-casually, then the Slytherin was VERY glad that Cutty was here too.



Oh look, they were getting started! With a question about cooking and baking, too. Did he know much about baking and cooking? Er. He doubted it. But this DID raise the question as to whether they were going to be cooking and/or baking and whether he could prank the Sassy Gryffindor sitting next to him.

"Isn't baking just a type of cooking?" he asked, raising his hand in the air. Like that Bookstore Kid had mentioned. "Baking's to do with the oven, I think, and heating things up using that. Cooking's just everything to do with food preparation." Uh huh. That was all he knew.

Sooo this lady had to be old if she had been here for so long. The woman seemed nice enough and the subject would surely be easy enough so it really wasn't a big deal. Plus. weren't older people supposed to be all jolly and stuff?

Listening to the first question asked, she was right in assuming this class was going to be a cake walk. Oh she knew this one, but how to explain it? Her hand shot into the air. "Professor cooking is for like food, food, and baking is things that you do in the oven like cookies." Mmmm... cookies. You could bake other things in the over too, but cookies were the most important.

The Gryffindor continued to rock on the back of the chair legs while he waited for the class to start. He had been looking around the room as well and was therefore unaware of the silent spell being casted towards him. The boy gasped as he lost his balance and he fell backwards with a THUD on the ground.

He groaned as he rubbed his back and stood up quickly. No one had seen that, nope. Kevin set his chair upright again and sat back down. On all four legs this time.

The difference between cooking and baking? His head snapped up at this. Were they gonna make delicious food? Pleeeeeeaaaase let it be true! The Gryffindor LOVED food and that reminded him that he still had some toffees in his pocket. He would eat them later when the Professor wasn't facing the class.

" The difference is that....uhm..." Wait! He totally knew this! It was on the tip of his tongue. ................okay he had nothing. He had never cooked or baked before. Nor had he ever watch his mother cook. He was just interested in eating it. The boy had already forgotten that he was in the middle of a sentence and began to rock the chair back on two legs again.

The difference between baking and cooking? This should come rather simple to anyone really, but considering Tag had a chef in the 'house' he could give a good answer to this.

"Cooking is more commonly used for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You use, usually a frying pan or stove, or pot. And you make meals that can take up to thirty minutes for one single ingredient. Like, pasta can take some time to cook, and soups can too. Now, baking, that's for sweets and desserts. And they are usually served after the main meal. But for baking, its a lot more measured precisely with time and ingredient measurements. Cooking, you can be relaxed about how long you take or what you want to add in or out of the dish. Baking on the other hand, say you accidentally put too much sugar into your treat, it could turn out to be a complete disaster."

That was very bad. Once Tag had baked chocolate chip cookies with his sister, had read the measurements wrong on the ingredients and they had come out the stove flat and stiff, almost felt like he would be breaking a tooth.

Cris smiled over at Jasmine when she shared her answer. She had been quick with her answer too, which Cris had to admit was a good one.

Cris thought back to the Chocolate banana filled cake his mother was famous for baking, and began to feel homesick. He missed that cake but most of all, he missed his family.

Chocolate banana filled cake, Professor. Can we bake that? Cris quietly thought to himself.

Angel looked at the Professor and then raised her hand. "Baking is where you get your hands dirty and actually do stuff like make the food yourself, were as cooking basically you just go to the shop and buy something and then put it in the cooker." Angel really liked baking.

Cooking and baking? Were they...going to be cooking and/or baking in this class? As in they'd be around FOOD? Penelope perked right up at this thought. Merlin, yes, this was awesome. Forget how tired she was, this was really awesome. She was so glad she'd come to this lesson now.

Her hand went up. "I think one difference is that the idea of baking is usually associated with sweets, like cake and cookies and things like that, while cooking's usually more savoury and stuff, like pizza and tacos and lots of other stuff. That's not all that can be baked or cooked, but that's usually someone's first thought when they think of it."

Okay good. The students weren't COMPLETELY daft when it came to this topic; but most of them were probably incompetent when it came to performing either of those actions. It was the after that they were good at. "Not necessarily, as baking might also refer to making bread"

"Ah, this is a very good analogy. Cooking doesn't require set recipes, but baking requires more precision. More detail. For instance, adding too much salt could potentially ruin that cake you were baking for a friend. But if you add too much salt when cooking, then the dish might still end up okay."

"Cooking is a broad term." Hadley nodded at Cris. "So in that sense, yes, but more than that, cooking refers to the application of heat ... anything that results in the change of texture or appearance could qualify. Baking, however, is a specific subset of cooking, referring to the application of heat in a closed oven, such as pizza, cookies, cakes, or breads."

"This. Is precisely correct in its most simplest essence." Though it didn't really define the two, it was still correct. Because baking was a subset of cooking.

Hadley nodded at Jasmine, as she'd already sort of went over that. But good, good.

"Yes. Baking is just a type of cooking." Good, the snarky Slytherin boy has ears and probably heard what Tobias had said. "However, cooking is more than just food preparation; it also refers to the application of heat. Which could be in an oven, on a grill, or on a stovetop, for instance."

"Baking is for food too, technically, as its a subset of cooking," Hadley nodded to twin #2 because she was the second one in the class, hence why she was number two. "It is, however, for food preparation in a closed oven."

So if they were listening to her responses after each student, then they should have gathered the difference between the two... which theoretically wasn't much, since baking was cooking, but cooking didn't have to be baking.

"Today, we'll be cooking. More specifically, baking. One of the first things to remember when doing any sort of cooking and food preparation is to keep your work area clean. If you're just starting out, you'll want to make sure the recipes aren't too complicated ... and you'll definitely want to read through the whole recipe." She paused, eyeing the time. They definitely had time for this, but they did need to get down to the kitchens soon.

"Can anyone think of anything else to maybe know before we get started?" No this wasn't Potions Class, but that didn't mean they still couldn't make stuff. It wasn't as if they would be using cauldrons; that was so not muggle.

Hmm. Something else they needed to know? Norah raised her hand and said, "Well, you don't want to take anything out of the oven with your bare hands. That'll hurt." She knew that from experience, yep. Baking cookies with her grandmother hadn't been as fun as she had expected after she had burned herself. But they were going to bake! Cool! That probably meant there'd be some oh-so-yummy treats to eat when they finished class. Oh, food. It's enough to make any class your favorite.

Ben was glad that she had seemed happy by his welcome back. At least that was someone happy. When the lesson was begun, the third year thought about possible answers though it seemed he couldn't come up with anything his classmates weren't already mentioned. So he remained quiet, taking down the answer Professor Hadley had remarked before raising his hand to answer for her second question.

"You need to make sure that you have every ingredient that you need." Couldn't bake what you wanted without the many parts required.

Cris quickly took down notes as Professor Hadley explained the difference. Yes!! They would be baking today, and Cris' first question was what. But he knew the answer to that question would discovered soon enough.

He had a question though and so he raised his hand,"Professor I've heard mention somewhere that the heat required to bake a specific recipe may have to be taken into account depending on which altitude you are at? "Baking usually refers to cooking in an oven or making cookies and stuff like that, while cooking usually refers to using other means like a stove or microwave or making soups and things." Oooh, were they making cookies? Because that would be awesome! You know, as long as no one burned anything or set anything on fire.
