These stairs were the infamous moving staircases? They didn't really seem like- oooooh. OHHHH.
Hehe. Coral took a seat on the stairs and wrapped her arms around the one of the banister supports, enjoying the ride. It was a strange sort of relaxing and it pleased her to take the time to appreciate its relaxing quality instead of getting annoyed by it's constant changes when she might have been in a rush.
She slid a little closer to the banister and leaned her head against it, as it slowed into place.

Theo was thinking about stuff. Stuff he wanted to do, and stuff he wanted to accomplish this year. And he had better get a move on with it, since they were already like, a month into the term. He reeeeeeeally didn't have long left, and the emotions were starting to gradually settle in. And Theo didn't get emotional about school. He hates school.
With a brand new Herbology book that he had purchased in Diagon Alley this summer, Theo sat at the top of one of the staircases with his legs resting along the whole step. Pretty much taking up all the space because he had long legs and stuff.
This book was BORING and he wanted to throw it down the stairs.
Ooohoohooo... tempting.
Maybe it'd knock a first year out.

Having finished with her reading in the library, Delilah decided to head down to the kitchens for a little snack. She kind of deserved it, yeah? After spending almost four hours studying Astronomy.. As much as she enjoyed the subject, it did require loads of reading. Heh. The girl walked towards the moving staircase, wondering if the elves had made a fresh batch of chocolate cookies. YUM.
Adjusting the strap of the bag on her shoulder, the blonde quickly walked up a staircase..noticing that there was someone seated at the top of one of the steps. Someone she didn't really feel like talking too. Delilah quickly turned to walk back down when the stairs started to move. Awesome. The girl sighed and leaned against the bannister, her blue eyes finally turning to look at the Head-Boy properly, taking in the book with a raised eyebrow.

"Weird place to be studying." The girl commented.
He had chickened out of throwing his Herbology book down the stairs. Besides he had bought this with his own money, so it would be ridiculous to waste it. Still, he wasn't in the mood to read it, so he closed it and spent a little time watching the stairs move around. He pulled his legs back and forth for people who needed to get by, too, of course.
Well, most of the people.
"It's surprisingly quiet." Apart from the sound of footsteps obviously. "Are you here to join me?" Theo smiled with his teeth up at Delilah. By that he meant, she could read his Herbology book to him. She had a nice-ish voice.

Delilah shrugged. "The library is quiet, too." Most of the time, that is. She could understand though. The girl preferred studying in a quiet place too. It was either the library or somewhere in the grounds.
... BLINK. What? Why would she join him? Why was he even asking her? What was that that SMILE? He was being ridiculously polite and it was kind of freaking her out. A little. The girl slightly narrowed her eyes and looked at him with a hint of suspicion.
"I don't know.. Depends on what I get out of it." Heh.

"Not that quiet." As in, there was always tons of people there. People didn't always need to use their voices to be loud and annoying. They might ruffle their papers too loud, they might snack on crisps whilst studying. It was annoying. Everyone was annoying.
Well, she wasn't declining his offer.
She definitely wanted to stay.
Wanted some HEAD BOY action, huh? He didn't blame her.
Theo shifted his position and rested his feet on the next step, giving her plenty of room to park it next to him. Maybe they could bury the hatchet and stuff? "Apart from my company, what more could you want?" And his charming personality, of course. "We're pals, right?" He couldn't actually remember his terms of relationship with Delilah. He couldn't even remember their last encounter.

Delilah narrowed her eyes slightly. Was he being serious? She watched as he even moved his legs to give her room to sit. What was even going on?! He was actually being serious! The girl hesitated for a moment, unsure what to do. The staircase was still moving anyway.. so it wasn't like she could just leave.
"You're so vain." Although, the girl couldn't help but grin just a little as she took a seat next to him. She still understand why he was.. not being a jerk. Was it because of the badge? .. Oh, well. It was rather weird but nice. Yeah, Delilah kind of approved.
The blonde sat down and stretched her legs out on the steps below her, raising an eyebrow slightly. "Since when are we 'pals', Theo? Kindly explain."

HA, she actually sat down!!
Theo was grinning as he soon realized that even HE, Theodore Kinsley, could be charming and get girls on his side. "Everyone's vain in some way. I bet you are, too. Nothing wrong with it really." Though he could admit that he had it a bit worse than others. Once she was sat, an awkward silence ensued, but Theo was still smiling with raised eyebrows as he watched the moving stairs below them. He was amused.
"Whaaaaaaat?" Theo laughed. "I'm just being friendly..." Would she PREFER his default grumpy mood? Honestly, some people were sooooooo hard to please.

"Probably.. I am vain when it comes to certain things, I suppose. But I don't show them off the way you do." Delilah leaned her head sideways against the bannister, looking at Theo out of the corner of her eyes for a second, the corners of her lips twitching a little. "Y'know, you should be less of a grouch and smile more often. Now, THAT is something you should show off." 'Cause he DID have a nice smile. Just saying.
Delilah laughed as well, her face turning slightly pink. Yeah, maybe he HAD changed.. She was probably just being silly but still. The girl wanted to make sure he wasn't just pretending to be friendly. Heh. "Can you blame me? After all our previous interactions.."

She slid a little closer to the banister and leaned her head against it, as it slowed into place.
Hallie stood with her ankles touching, hand placed gracefully on the railing as she bent her spine backwards to look up at all the moving pieces above them. "It's amazing, isn't it?" she said loudly enough to make an echo. It gave her chills, and she allowed herself to bounce giddily for a moment. She loved old things and magic and old magic, and these stairs were magnificent. An extremely clever system, as well, if she might add. She'd probably spend days here making charts of the movements for fun.
She stood beside her sister and put both hands on the banister now, leaning over timidly like it was the side of Titanic leaving harbor with no knowledge of the impending iceberg. Hallie took note that this will also be a lovely place to pretend she is aboard an early 20th century passenger liner. The 1910s were her favorite time period, aesthetically speaking.
Hallie curled her hair behind her ear with her be-gloved fingers and looked down at Coral, smiling at her contentment. She let her grip tighten to the banister and watched her sister protectively as the stairs slid into place, expecting much more of a shake than they got. But she hadn't lost her balance and CB hadn't been thrown down the stairs, so it was fine. Hallie turns her head with her fingers curling hair behind the other ear and glanced up and down the stairs in both directions, wondering which way to go, but also wondering if any other students were going to come pass them by.
She was incredibly late. And these stairs weren't helping either. If there was one thing she couldn't possibly miss was an Astronomy lesson. Never. It just couldn't happen.
Lotus stepped onto the next moving staircase and just kept on going, suddenly realizing she may not have Astronomy today. What day was it, even? Huh. This was new. She could probably blame a little memory loss on a few people, sadly, Milton couldn't be included this time.
Finally, Milton couldn't be blamed for anything at Hogwarts anymore. This was also a new development.
The sixth year decided to check her timetable just to make sure which was the class she was oh-so-obviously running late to.

So, obviously classes had already started. Abel could at least figure that one out. Now if only he could find the right class out of this maze of a place that had no easy route. He was supposed to find... Abel looked at his schedule that said he needed to be in Defense Against the Dark Arts. He sighed and decided to just make a wild guess for it. He was already late anyways.
This fourth year looked around and saw a staircase. Moving forward he got up 4 steps and then something happened. The whole staircase.. was... MOVING!? This gave hime quite a shock and grasped the railings and clutching them for dear life. "WOAHH! What is HAPPENING!?" He said aloud but also to himself. After what felt like forever to him, the moving stopped. Abel looked around still tightly holding the railing trying to figure out exactly what went on. This sucked. He couldn't move, he thought if he did then the staircase would start moving again. So he did not take his arms off the railing, no matter what. Abel will sit there all day if he has to... And he might.

In the year he had been absent from Hogwarts' halls, many things had changed about Casper. He was no longer the fidgety, rushing little boy too desperate to get to class. He barely went to class at all these days—only somewhat because they bored him. Neither could he stare up through the heart of the school, past the scores of moving staircases to the high vaulted ceiling; it made him dizzy. Most movement at all nauseated him, and thus the moving staircases he had once flown up, either in pursuit of knowledge or in fear of his older brother represented a new set of obstacles, of things he had to take slowly and steadily and learn anew. That particular list was lengthy, growing longer than he had previously imagined possible. Perhaps it was a blessing, given his hesitance to admit his new shortcomings, that he'd retained none of his friends over his year of absence.
It was with relative discomfort, then, that he crept up the staircase, hoping desperately that it would just... not move. He didn't really need it to; he wasn't going anywhere in particular. Just... going. He did that a lot, too. Transit without purpose. But, as he walked up behind a pair of girls, very much the same from behind in their hair and their height and their build and yet nothing else, the staircase jolted to life, just as he hadn't hoped it would, and he was stuck along for the ride.
In a poor attempt to distract himself from the towering heights above him and the terrifying drop below him, Casper focused his glassy gaze on the two other students sharing the stairs with him. They, too, were stilled, though it seemed in awe rather than fear. Newbies, then. But familiar all the same. And then, he caught the side of a smile, a flash of eyes, and recalled through his hazy memory a moment in the library.
“Hallie?” he meant to say more to himself than her—either of her, for there were two of her on the staircase, and this time it didn't seem like he was seeing double. His voice echoed, though, deeper than he had thought and a touch unfamiliar in an unsettling sort of way, across the hall and off the stairs, and he knew he had been much louder than he intended. Oh. He carded a hand through floppy, hastily-styled hair and stared down at his feet so suddenly his glasses slid down the bridge of his nose. Maybe the Hallies wouldn't think he said anything if he just... pretended he didn't exist anymore.

..............................OH MERLIN.
That was the path she had to take... the screaming boy path. Maybe she could skip class, it wasn't worth it. She was already late, and still looking for that timetable. But her Astronomy textbook wasn't in her bag, which meant she had no Astronomy today, so why bother?
Oh. Lotus thought that was a Hufflepuff hugging the railing part of the staircase (because it seemed like something they would do, sorry Tobias), but his robes were clearly tinted with green. Well, this was embarrassing, she couldn't possibly leave a Slytherin to his death.
So she jumped the remaining steps and stood close to him, "Are you alright? Having visions or something?" Granted, she hadn't seen anything out of the ordinary with the staircases, so she had to ask.

Amazing? That barely described the place. It was gorgeous, breathtaking even. She could sit here allllllll day. But she'd rather have Foxtrot here with her. Just for something fuzzy and warm to hold onto. Not that Rumba wasn't doing a good job of keeping her company because she was. It was just... she wasn't Foxtrot. And she was the newest addition to her little group, leaving CB's connection with the animal not exactly what it was with the others. Though maybe this would help?
CB clung to the bannister a little tighter as the stairs came to a halt, expecting it to jostle her and Hallie. She even had one arm prepared just incase she needed to snatch Hallie's leg before she fell. But that wasn't necessary. It was soft and gentle and... well... nice. Very different from her expectations as this school seemed to be displaying left and right.
Hearing her sister's name being called by a boy voice, Coral turned her head around, and adjusted her seated spot on the step to get a better look. Who was this? Hm? What hadn't her sister told her?
Stares for you, Glasses.

Stares for you, Glasses.
Hallie turned her head when she heard her name from over her shoulder. "Hmm? Her eyes fell upon the voice's owner and she had to resist an eyebrow twitch. Oh. The vaguely off-putting boy. "Casper Duluth." She said in response, a polite smile falling into place from the corner of her mouth. She shifted her stance to face him a little more, right hand still gracefully resting on the Bannister, the left one folded near her face in an old fashioned yet regal way.
"Cors, this is Casper, I met him in the library several weeks ago." She looked down at her sister, then back up at the bespectacled boy. "Casper, this is my twin, Coral-Bay. I believe that I told you about her when we met." She'd told most people she ran into that day about the mis-sorting crisis being sorted differently than each other.
"Where are you headed?" She asked suspiciously with her brow quirked. He looked horribly confused. Maybe the stairs had made him dizzy. They could walk him to the Hospital Wing if he needed. Though, her impression of him made her think he wouldn't want that.

Still clutching the bottom of the rail, he looked over and.... A GIRL?! He knew that even if he had no idea what's going on, he was probably making a fool of himself. He gaped at her while she talked, still half scared from moments ago, half thinking she was kinda pretty....
WHAT? Having visions? like imaginary things? NO no no. His mind emptied by now. Abel is not crazy. "I'm okay... But, what just happened to the stairs? These things are moving!"
With one more glance to all sides of him, (to make sure nothing else would attack or something) Abel was able to slowly rise from the stairs onto his feet but all the while holding the railing. Once he was standing, looking around nervously, he saw her. he stayed there silently for an explanation.l

It was starting to be adorable. The boy holding onto the railing for dear life. She'd probably left him there if he'd belong to another house, though. But she could not leave him there. Nope. He seemed in a bit of a daze...
...and slightly confused, poor thing.
No visions, then. OH MERLIN, that's excellent! Lottie was truly relieved. And then wondered if she should take the boy to West, he was still a Slytherin leader regardless of the fact that the badge was taken away with Quidditch. But... since Theodore Kinsley was the other option, well...
...maybe she should explain.
"Oh, the stairs just move. With magic. You have to be very careful, they can get you sidetracked more easily than your thoughts." He was a boy, boys get sidetracked far often than girls do. She knows. "Don't worry, no one's died by missing a step and falling, you can let go." No one has so far, there's always a first time for everything, though. "You must be new, what's your name?" She smiled, as kindly as possible.

...what? Marigold stared at the surroundings that were slowly coming into focus. Had she been asleep? She didn't care, but it was weird she didn't remember going to sleep here. She straightened up and rubbed her face, unsticking her hair from her cheek. She finger-combed through her hair, which was becoming curly again even though she straightened it that morning. Blah. She was sure she looked fine, though. Like always. Hairflip.

"Nothing wrong with it, in my opinion." What was wrong in showing a bit of love for yourself? Theo thought that GIRLS of all people would be all for that, but w h a t e v a. His thought process was interrupted by her sudden RUDENESS. Pssht, and he thought this was going so well. "What do you mean, 'less of a grouch'? I'm not a grouch." And just for reasons, Theo flashed a super sarcastic grin right in her direction.
And then he drooped it to a MISERABLE one to be extra annoying.
He shrugged his shoulders. "They weren't that bad, sheesh." Basically, Theo had had much worse interactions with certain others. Delilah really wasn't considered an enemy of his.

"Aaaand...what's on this floor again, Sir...whatsyournameagain?" As promised, Ethan explored the school that morning. He was pretty busy with homework and stuff the past few weeks, and missed the chance to explore the huge school. He was supposed to go with Simon that morning, but the boy was fast asleep.
Sleep is important to some people, and he didn't want to bother his friend. He's being a good bro, y'know? Ethan was too busy following the knight in the portraits as it crossed from one frame to another, that he didn't even bother looking at what he was treading on. "WATCH OUT YOUNG SIR!" The knight in the portrait yanked his horse, and the neighs of the creature woke up half of the portraits that were on the same floor. "WATCHOUTWHAT? WHERE? WHO?" Ethan already had his wand in his hand as he scanned the place, but there was no one! "Oi...you sir--" The Slytherin deadpanned at the sight of the same girl who watched him and Grayson back in Transfiguration class. "A damsel in distress, m'Lord!" the knight said.
He's got no idea if she and Grayson were in good terms, so he wasn't sure if he should be friendly? But then again, damsel in distress! Or maybe not? "Hi. Are you lost?" Must be the most dumb question ever, but hey! He wanted to help her, yeah? She looked...well. Lost. Heh.

Was he serious? Really? Marigold jolted up from her half-asleep stupor and glared at the painted knight. Sigh. Couldn't he see she was sleeeeping? Well, maybe he couldn't. He was a portrait, and they couldn't see every angle. Marigold blinked hard a few times and rubbed her temples, trying hard to dissuade the growing banging in her skull. Was this what a loud noise caused headache sounded like? She figured so. Pointing her nose up at the painting, she glared. "OI," she said, meaning to begin a rant about inside voices and stuff, but was surprised when a squeak came out instead. She had only been asleep for a little, it wasn't like her voice was out of commission for a year. Or was it? Had she just been left sleeping for a century? Had she been jinxed or poisoned? Straightening up and rubbing her eyes again, she looked at the person who asked if she was lost. Nope, it was that boy from Transfiguration. Greaaaat.
"No," she said, standing up and brushing off her pants to see that even when she was standing on a higher step than he was, she was still shorter. Meeeehhhh. "Are you?" Because he looked like the sort of person to wander around aimlessly. She crossed her arms and gave her foot a wiggle. Her toes tapped against the floor.

Remember the day when he got sorted and sat with the Yellow people? Yeah? Well, Ethan had the impression that they were the friendly type. Elodie, Cris, and Adi were all cool and stuff and he’d spend mooooore time with those folks if time permits him. But this small person? Nu-uh.
Yes small person, we are judging you.
A bit.
Yup.
Shields up!
Ethan tilted his head and grinned at the older student. Was he lost? Did he look like he was? “You can say that I am. I’m intentionally lost. You see, I have come to explore the wonders of this school!” He said as he raised his arms and gestured at the…well, grand staircase. Who knows what he’ll find in the nooks and crannies of Hogwarts, yeah? And did she see the Student Noticeboard? A certain Professor Botros is asking the whole school to find Remembralls for him, so maybe by exploring, he’d come to find one. At least he’s being useful. Mhmm.
“Okay then, you are not lost.” But why is her hair like that? Ethan’s grin turned to a side smirk as he remembered the girls back in his old school that refuses to bathe. She looked like one of them, did she know? Hahaha. Ha. Haha. “Did you…um…did we wake you up?” She is one weird girl. Who in their right mind would actually sleep, or even take a nap on a moving staircase? “I’m sorry about that, if we did.” Ethan bit his lip and refrained himself from laughing.

Greaaat. Marigold was talking to one of the loonies. Why couldn't she have been woken up by like… Z or Mitch or someone like that? She tried to push off the feeling of anger to maybe she had gotten up on the wrong side of the … staircase… because this one was a friend of Gray's, so he couldn't be alllll bad. But then again, Gray wasn't the nicest person either, so who knows.
"Intentionally lost?" she asked incredulously. "Are you trying to pretend that you aren't lost, or are you just exploring or having an adventure or something like that?" If it was the latter, Marigold could maybe excuse him and reconsider the pros and cons of being mad at him. If it was the former… hahahhha. She would just laugh at him.
She raised an eyebrow. Let's see.. she was sitting with her eyes closed, she seemed tired, and she was mad at him. Yes, she was woken up by him. "Yeah. Thanks for apologizing." But it seemed like he was laughing at her…. "Don't laugh at meeeeeeeeeee," she said, recrossing her arms. Harumph. People only got to laugh at her if she was laughing, too.
