Norah skipped to the table and slid into the first empty seat she saw. Everyone around her was immersed in some kind of conversation. sigh. She busied herself inspecting the glorious place setting in front of her, trying to ignore her stomach which had begun grumbling. She hummed under her breath before realizing her horrid singing would probably just ward off any potential friends, which she certainly couldn't have because making new friends was at the top of her list of things to do immediately. Of course, the immediately part had just been added at that moment, but hunger can do that to an eleven year old. Ooh food. Maybe that would be first on the list. Ooooh maybe her new friends would have food. Now that would be magical.

"Been good. How about you, man?" Mitchell asked after the hug. "Good summer?" Probably way better than his. It was a good thing his eye healed since then. That could have gotten awkward.

And there was Kace's girl. Formal introductions were in order, yes?

Andddd there was his girl. "Yup. I see her."



There she was. Mitchell grinned as Goldilocks squeezed into the spot next to him. "Hey." he said in a low whisper. "Where've you been?" Not that it mattered. He just missed her.

He wrapped an arm around her shoulders in a bit of a hug. And then casually left his arm there.

He had his girl. Now he was ready for food.

Somewhere along the way from the train, Kaiden had finally pinned the prefect badge to his robes. Even if he wasn't quite sure what all those responsibilities were. Being a captain, while it wasn't easy, not by a long shot, he at least he knew exactly what was expected. And he had definitely lived up to those expectations. Hmmm, maybe that was another thing he should talk to his head of house about.

Noticing all the non teacher people around, he found a seat among his housemates, wher the new prefect greeted those around him. “Hey Y'all” Some of his friends, and former teammates got bro nods. Marigold waved to her friend, then called over others' heads. "Hey yo, Lux-o. How was the fashion show?" The one she told. Marigold about last term, of course.

WOAHHHH. NO WAYYY!! Marigold was absentmindedly twirling her fork when the Sorting Hat called Hufflepuff out really loudly. When she looked at who was joining her house, none other than the girl who tripped over her on the train was there! Marigold waved a few times to get her attention, then gestured for her to come over here. Come, child, and be her protégé.

Norah looked up from her plate to see a girl waving her arms and gesturing wildly as if to get her attention. But that didn't make any sense because she was well aware of the fact that she knew a grand total of zero people in her house. Waaaait that was the girl she had tripped over on the train! Did she want her to sit with her? Norah grinned. Hooray for nice people! She jumped eagerly from her seat to go sit next to this girl whose name she still didn't know. She slid into the seat across from her and opened her mouth to speak but closed it suddenly when she noticed the girl's head resting on the shoulder of a boy. Um, EW! Didn't she know boys have cooties? Maybe she had knocked a screw loose when Norah had tripped over her on the train because everybody knew boys have cooties. The girl had gestured her over, after all, so maybe she wasn't completely insane, which lead Norah to giving her a bright "Hello!"

She kept her hands firmly at her sides, though. She did not need to get infected with cooties on her first day of Hogwarts.

Oswin flounced over a little carelessly to the HufflePuff table. Her mom was a Hufflepuff and according to her they were on of the nicest houses. She was very excited to be a Gryffindor but she wanted to meet everyone. Even if she didn't meet all her house mates she could still make friends. "hello!" she teetered on her toes almost falling over but just managing to keep her balance. She wondered if anyone noticed if not she'd just go back to her table. For now she hoped no one was staring that was rude and she hated rude people. She decided maybe now was not the best time and gently returned to her regular weight.

Norah grinned at the sight of another girl flouncing to the table. Anyone who flounced as automatically a kindred spirit in her book. The girl seemed about to lose her balance, so Norah jumped to her feet and made to place a steadying hand on her shoulder, but as she was on the painfully tiny end of the eleven-year-old height spectrum, it didn't do much to help her. Oh well, at least she had tried. "Hi! Are you okay?" she said brightly. "I'm Norah." GRIN GRIN. She hoped she didn't scare this girl away with all her smiling but it was all just so exciting!

The girl had interpreted Marigold's flailing arms correctly, and so Marigold picked her head off Mitch and her arm from around his waist to lean forward a little. "Hi! Welcome to Hufflepuff." THE BEST HOUSE FOR SURE. She smiled at the girl and twirled the edge of her hair around her finger. "So." Since she no longer had a boy!shoulder as a pillow, she propped her chin up on her hand. It was at this exact moment that the fact she was a fourth year hit her. Hard. When she was this girl's age, the fourth years were Elodie. Merlin. She had a weird feeling in her stomach she assumed was... Confusion? Because there was noooo way she would ever be the Elodie for this girl.

But she could try. So she sat up straight and grinned a huge, totally mature grin. "I'm Marigold, by the way. Fourth year." And totally awesome.

Hazel liked talking to people. "Fishing sounds like a ton of fun. I've never been, though. I went to France to visit my old friends, and then I took a day trip up north. It was quite fun!" she told Ian. She hadn't seen a lot of her old friends yet, so it was nice to meet new people. So far, she'd only seen Leah this year. Ian was really cool, though.



There was the girl Hazel believed was in her house or year or something. Lux. Since she was in the mood to meet new people, she went up to the girl and said, "Hi! My name is Hazel." It was a pretty good start to a conversation in her opinion.



Hazel noticed the new firstie at the Hufflepuff table (Norah). OOOH! A new puffer, ai? "Hey, I'm Hazel," she said. She skipped over to her. "You're hair is super pretty. So's the rest of you, but I just noticed your hair 'cause it's so... pretty!" Great, embarrassing herself in front of a firstie. She hoped this firstie wouldn't judge her too much.

MARI!!!! "Mari, how are you!" Hazel asked the older girl. Mari was such a cool person. She hoped that she would be that cool. She grinned at her friend. Because grinning was just so FUN!



There was another new girl at the Hufflepuff table (Oswin). Was she a Hufflepuff? "Hi. I'm Hazel," she said. Is that all she can say????? "How are you?" She seemed like a firstie, although Hazel could never been sure. "You're new here, right?"

Adi laughed aloud when Ethan called Els mother. This kid was so funny! And crazy. Crazy in a good way, of course. "Nothing much, bro,'' he called back. The dude was cool, yo! Adi liked him instantly. "Yes, yes, I have a name, Ethan. I'm Aditya but call me Adi like the entire Hogwarts does.'' Hehe. "Nice to meet you. If you don't think your name is cool, I think you yourself makes up for that.'' Yep. "So, where did you transfer from?''

"Mari! Hello!'' Adi called out to the fourth year girl. "Good summer?'' While waiting for her to reply, he directed his attention to another unfamiliar face (Jakoby). "Hello,'' Adi said with a smile. "Liking Hogwarts so far?'' Poor dude looked so nervous. Maybe talking to someone would get rid of the nerves.

Adi felt as though he could fall asleep. He was that comfortable around Els. But he couldn't for he was hungry. When was the Headmistress going to give her speech? Didn't she realise her kids were starving? But he was content with the lollipop in his mouth. For now. The third year blinked at Els. Him help out? He didn't know about choosing Universities. Hmmm...but it was a good opportunity to try to influence the older girl to choose the closest one. He grinned evilly in his head. "I will!'' Yes. He was enthusiastic about this now. "What do you want to study?'' Adi had never asked that and he was curious about the answer.

"A good different,'' Adi muttered and not being sure if Ian heard what he said. He so wanted to drop Gus down Hannah's robes again for bossing Ian around like that. But she was gone and maybe she'd meet some people who wouldn't take that bossy attitude from her. Hopefully. Adi nodded now. "Yep, lots of firsties but there don't seem to be much joining Hufflepuff this year.'' That was too bad.

And who should turn up next but Hazel. "Hi, Hazel!'' Adi grinned at his ice skating buddy from last term. Honestly, he had had a great time even though it was the first time he had ice skated. And he didn't even feel embarrassed about his silly falls and stumbles around Hazel.

Oh yes. Adi had heard about the trip over the summer. He was disappointed it hadn't been open to younger students but he survived. "How was it?'' Adi was curious. What did they do on the trip? "Trust me, there is never a dull moment at Hogwarts. You've come to the right place if you're looking for excitement.'' The third year grinned at the question. ''A Hufflepuff is the most loyal and patient of all persons.'' Hehe. Adi was very proud to be a Badger. "Pleased to meet you, too, Declan. You'll have two years of non stop excitement here.'' Adi winked.

Phew! Kace wasn't mad at him. Goody. "Summer was good. We didn't go anywhere this year, though so I just caught up with friends and played endless cricket.'' Honestly, Adi didn't think there was a day when he didn't play the game. "What about you? How was yours?''

Adi waved back at Lux. "I'm great! What about you? Ready for third year?'' It was hard to believe they were third years already. Wasn't it just a few days ago they had put on that Sorting Hat and got Sorted?

Adi grinned over at Dylan. "You need a hair cut,'' he said jokingly. Dylan actually didn't look so bad with the long hair though. "Yep, summer was quiet but I had a good time.'' And as for the guitar...''You bet! I think I can do a song or two now.'' Yep, he was making progress. "What about you? Had a good summer?''

Ohhh looky! A new Puffer! (Norah). Plus another girl (Oswin). "Hello,'' Adi said to the two with a welcoming smile. "Welcome to Hogwarts!''

And there was grump Kaiden. Well, Grumpy Prefect Kaiden. For some reason Adi never forgot the older boy being so grumpy during his first year. But he waved at him. "Congrats, Kaiden!''

Kace nodded and said, "Mine was pretty good. Erm i just went to sports camps the usual. It went by too fast for me." he shrugged. "But i am happy to be back to see everyone." he smiled and looked around the room.

Then when Kace hugged Emmy, he saw Mitch standing there confused. OH right...introductions! "Mitch this is my girlfriend Emmy who is in Gryffindor..." he gestured towards her and smiled. Then right on time Marigold popped in. Mitch put his arm around her and he nodded towards her. She must have missed his previous question but he asked again. "Hey Marigold, how was your summer? I see you have been busy hanging with Mitch.." he winked and joked a little bit.



Kace looked around and noticed the captain badge anywhere. He smiled and gave his friend a one armed hug. "Hey Kaiden! How have you been man? How come i didn't see you this summer in Diagon Alley?" he asked. He wondered if he fell off the face of the earth. He didn't contact him or anything.



Now his attention back on Adi! "Oh you played cricket?? I never played maybe you can teach me sometime!" he offered to his friend. "My summer? Oh it was great! Played soccer and football you know the usual..." he shrugged. "I didn't spend too much time with Emmy this summer so i had to keep busy somehow according to my mom." he grinned. "You prepared for your third year?" he questioned. He remembered when he was just a little first year.



Kace noticed Dylan had a quizzical look. He smiled and clarified it for him. "We are talking about Marigold if you know her. She is not really hard to miss. She is the cheery little hufflepuff girl." he chuckled. "But mate, we need to hang out more this term. I hardly saw you last term." It was true. He didn't hang out with him as much as he would have liked to.



He raised his eyebrows when Lux told him that Bay's mom packed them cucumber sandwiches. "Well i am jealous, i wish i could of had some!" he said. His stomach rumbled some more. "Man i hope they get the food out soon." he said starring at his empty plate. Then the defective canary cream caught his attention.

"Wait...where did he get this defective canary cream?" he asked curious. He hoped to try one. He wanted to have yellow feathers. "I have not seen any yellow feathers but i will keep an eye out for them!" he told Lux. "Did you see Emmy yet? I think she looks pretty good in red."



Now a little first year caught Kace's eye. He smiled and thought he would try and introduce himself. He walked over and noticed she was being talked to by a lot of other puffs. He waited till an opening came up. He went over to her and said, "Hey i am Kace. I see you are new but if you have any issues, you can always ask me." he smiled warmly and held out his hand for her to shake.

Never too late to learn proper manners right?

Ian nodded as she tallked about her trip. He hadn't been to France before. He'd been told by old men in his village that they were arrogant and snobby. Ian didn't want to pass judgment, but it was hard not to when it was re-inforced at home. What is your favorite thing about France? I've not been. I'd like to go to Germany, but Dad isn't keen on the idea.

Ian winked at Adi. Adi didn't seem to have that high and attitude about Hannah, but that was ok since she was gone. He wondered what she was up to. He'd written her, but hadn't received a reply. He assumed she was busy doing whatever Hogwarts students did after they left school. [b]Aye. Lot's of firsties. I am surprised there aren't more coming to Hufflepuff. Doesn't the hat normally try and even things out a little bit more? Still not sure how that musty old hat gets it done. I remember my sorting. Creeped me out when that hat started talking to me. Said something about lack of confidence, but quite loyal. Other than that, I was trying not to let it slip past me nose. It smelled awful. I wonder how long they've used that same hat and on how many students.[b] That brought him back to stories he'd read about his favorite Huffies. His favorite was Nymphadora Tonks. She was a grand Auror and had married a werewolf. Also, there had been Cedric Diggory. Then he remembered his favorite Hogwarts Alum. Luna Lovegood was the best student ever in his mind. She did things her own way and while she wasn't a Huffie, she seemed to have accepted everyone. Ian wanted to be that way. Ian sure was getting hungry. He hoped the headmistress would hurry up and talk so they could eat. He now wished he hadn't given that meat pie to AJ.

She looked at the hufflepuff girl. "Hey you look my age!" she gave a grin and laughed. Everyone else was older or never looked at her. Maybe sitting by herself on the train wasn't a good idea everyone already had friends and she was the most left out of any Gryffindor she had seen so far. "Oh ya I'm fine thanks for asking!" She was always polite her mother being a hufflepuff had taught her to be kind, fair and loyal. Apparently she didn't fit the hufflepuff profile. "Anyways Hi! I'm Oswin!" She beamed making freinds was fun.




She saw the wave and asumed it was for her she waved and smiled "HI!" she called out looking at the older girl.


She looked up suprised that an older girl was talking to her. "Oh Hi! I'm Oswin!" She looked up the slightest bit to her robes and saw she was a Hufflepuff. "I'm great and really excited it's my first year you see and thank you for asking." She stopped and caught her breath anyways. "Anyways what year are you in I hope I'm not being rude!"

Nola, the newly sorted Hufflepuff, was pleased that she hadn't broken the hat after all. She skipped to the table and took the first empty spot she found.

The eleven year old was happy humming to herself as she watched everyone around her. Wasn't Lux in Hufflepuff? Maybe she was near...

Dylan then noticed Marigold waving at him, and he smiled a toothy smile and waved back all excited like. Because he was coool like that. Heheh. "Hiii Mari! Good to see you." he said. "How are you?"

Then, what looked like a first year Gryffindor came to the table and said hello. She seemed really friendly and pretty full of energy, which Dylan liked. He smiled at her, giving her a wave. "Hi there! I'm Dylan!" he introduced himself. "What's your name?"

A haircut? Psshh. Dylan wasn't gonna get one of those for a long while, that was for sure. He liked this look. "Haircut? I happen to look fabulous with long hair," he joked, tossing his hair dramatically and grinning.

He smiled as Adi told him about his summer and guitar playing. "Right on! I'm glad to hear that, man. You should show me soon!" he told his friend with a nod. He was really glad to hear Adi was getting better, and the fact that he was playing songs already was truly awesome. "Oh, my summer was pretty good! I enjoyed it, but I'm really glad to be back." he said, taking a quick glance around the great hall. "I missed it hear, y'know?" he said, turning back to Adi.

Ohhhh. Marigold, right! That made sense. Because she had blonde hair and looked like how you'd picture Goldilocks to look. "Oh, okay! I understand now, the nickname does make sense." he said with a laugh, glancing at her and chuckling. He then looked back to Kace when he spoke and nodded in agreement. "Totally! I was thinking the same exact thing, actually." he replied. Hopefully they'd have classes with each other!


As he sat with his friends, he noticed a newly sorted first year making her way over to the table and take a seat across from him. Turning so that he was fully facing her, he smiled. "Hi there, I'm Dylan. Welcome to Hufflepuff!" he told her.

She turned around very fast on her heel almost falling over, but she didn't. She was told she has incredible balance and could dance on a pin. She bounced up and down very excited to be talking to people "Hi Dylan I'm Oswin I hope it's okay that I'm over here I'm not sure am I anyways how are you I'm great by the way." She took a deep breath after that sentence with no breaths she still felt bubbly and excited to be here.

Mitchell couldn't help but smile. Thissssss was nice. Yes it was. He tightened his arm around her and pulled her close. Yes. Right there. Stay there forever, 'kay? That would be nice.

"Spreading rumors about what?" he asked. ... after he realized she was talking.

Stop being so cute and distracting, Goldilocks. It made conversations difficult.

"Sports camps?" Mitchell asked. "What do you play?"

He then nodded. Yeah, Mitchell was happy to be back as well. School was much less... stressful than home.

And that was Emmy. Yeah. It looked like someone Kace would be with.

Sky soon found out that the Slytherin table, rather boring. And after making sure everything was good over there, she left and decided to patrol the Hufflepuff table. As she walked up the Hufflepuff row she looked around for the other MLErs, there was Kennedy at the Gryffindor table and last time she had checked Genevieve was still at the Slytherin table.

Hopefully the Hufflepuff table would be more interesting, and maybe she could get a little more laughs when she listened in on their conversations.

Norah beamed at the older girl. "Hi Marigold!" she almost shouted to be heard over the rumble of students speaking. Was that too loud? That was probably too loud. Oh well, excitement trumps functioning ear drums any day. Ohhh, a fourth year. That explained the boytoy. She knew older girls seemed to forget boys had cooties. That made sense, considering memory loss and confusion are side effects of old age. And 14 was pretty old, if you thought about it.
Marigold kept looking at her. OH RIGHT this was the part where she said something. But what should she say? Norah was suddenly self conscious to be the object of such a popular-seeming girl's attention. So, she said the first thing that came to her mind. "When's dinner?"



Another first year! Norah had to physically put her wrap her fingers around the bench to stop from bouncing. Hey, Oswin! That's such a pretty name." she gushed. Oswin had a pretty smile to go with her pretty name, and Norah couldn't help but to take an immediate liking to her. She brushed a curly strand of hair out of her eyes and continued, "What house are you in? I'm in Hufflepuff." But wait, that was obvious wasn't it. DARN, the feast hadn't even started yet and she had already messed up. She could have kicked herself but her feet were busy performing a jittery tap dance under the table. She felt her cheeks grow red, but she covered up her embarrassment by gesturing a tiny hand to the seat beside her. "Do you want to sit?"
She could do that, right?



Norah turned to see another older Hufflepuff girl speaking to her. Her smile broadened when she saw the voice was coming from a girl who had skipped towards her. She had to respect a fellow supporter of public skipping. Her cheeks were beginning to ache from all the incessant smiling, but of course she couldn't help it. The skipping girl introduced herself as Hazel, and Norah replied, "Hey Hazel. I'm Norah," she replied. Pretty? Her? She ran her fingers through her disheveled auburn curls. Even with all her mother's nagging she couldn't recall if she had actually brushed her hair this week morning. As a matter of fact, she was beginning to doubt that she'd even packed her hairbrush. Whoops. She realized she had trailed off on her conversation with Hazel Who Skips, so she smiled quickly and said, "Oh! Thank you! Yours is pretty too. I mean so are you but your hair is too." Well, that was awkward. Norah decided the correct course of action would be to ignore that interaction had happened and ask more questions. That was good friend making, right? She hadn't exactly been paying attention to her mother's reminders about politeness this morning. "So, what year are you in?"



Yet another student came her way with an introduction. Norah couldn't stop smiling despite the definite cramping in her cheeks. She hadn't even known cheeks could cramp in the first place. Hi, Kace. Nice to meet you! I'm Norah." She took his hand gingerly and gave it a short shake before dropping it again. He was obviously older and had thus forgotten the cootie rule too. "Thanks for your help," she replied to his kind offer. Everyone here was just so nice!

Elodie momentarily forgot about the people around her, leant over to the other seventh year and whispered something about boys, plans, problems and things and promised to tell her more later. She'd probably stockpile her with the colouring books she'd acquired and all the other things they'd need to survive the year.

Back to male human. Heh. Hi. Hello there. See look! Hot seventh years!

"This is Betty. She's one of our oldest residents and she's almost upgraded to getting a personal wiper. We're ever so proud." And then she ducked slightly away to avoid any sort of incoming physical pain from Olly, leaning herself against the table in the seat free next to Declan. "She's cool though. She likes spaghetti, ice cream and colouring with the first years. Maybe you'll be able to convince her to colour with you. Colouring date!!" Not that Olly was taken or anything, hehe oops.

She supplied her dormmate with a lollipop before she left and gave her a super exaggerated finger wiggle wave. Byeeeeeeeee Betty!

SPOILER!!: Ana & Ethan

Elodie was still keeping this small kid. Miss Slytherin needed to understand THAT. He sat at her table...he stayed at her table. She'd keep him with lollipops.

MOTHER?!

Any other day, any other kid...she'd have considered giving them a clip around the ear. But nope. He was cute and Els smiled a bit more, ruffled his hair and looked between him and Ana. "It's only normal for someone to want to be sorted here. We're a wonderful bunch." Unless your name was Delilah Starr and then you needed your own house. For social rejects. Goodbye Delilah.

So the kids name was Ethan? That was nice. "Well Ethan...you can either take your lollipops back to your own table with your nice new friend...orrrrr...you can stay here and eat your first Hogwarts meal with me. I'll make sure to send you back to your table before they show the new students to the common rooms." Ew gross. She'd have to do that TOO. Where the hell was Kaiden? Why was she doing everything? What a butttttt.

MORE PEOPLE. She knew of one face, just from merely common room people watching, but the other she wasn't as familiar with. Rightly so, seeing as his robes were intact with a different house badge. They all wanted a piece of this awesome. She was totes doing Professor Hadley proud whilst she was busy doing those things that people did with newborn babies. Like not sleep. Enjoy your next 20 minute nap, Professor!

Elodie placed a lollipop in front of both of them and gave them a grin.

"A please wouldn't go amiss. But it doesn't matter. HI. I'm Elodie and I won't be at your beck and call this year." That wasn't her job.

Children she knew, obbbbviously. Or knew in an "I know of your face" way. LOLLIPOPS FOR THEM. "You source lollipops from me and me only this year, okay?" Her lollipops were GOOD ones.

"Elodie, by the way. Better than you. Prettier than you. And with a badge to prove it." And that was all she gave them. She skipped off back to her little group of groupies whom she was delectably in love with. Her little darlings.

SPOILER!!: Lux, Adi & Marigold

OH HELLO MARIGOLD. Elodie was in the process of giving the younger girl a wave and assessing the people she was sitting with a little more when Lux swept in in full force and hugged her from behind. No damage done, but she might have lost her footing ever so slightly. "Little Lux! Hiiiiiii gorgeous!" She'd grown over the summer. Maybe a little bit, anyway. Elodie didn't pay too much attention to height unless she was laughing about how much taller than Cat she was.

"Do you like it?" She asked quietly, whispering and pulling a face and everything. Lux would tell her straight up if she didn't think it suited her or she didn't deserve it. Right? They trusted one another that much, yes?

With Lux on one side and Adi on the other, Elodie felt like a mother with two toddlers, but it was all cool. She was a good one. Handing out lollipops, ruffling hair and beating away the eager people interested in them. Nope. No duck or Lux for you kids. ALL FOR HER.

"Not yet, Duckie... I need to look over a few things again and then I think I'll decide. Maybe you can help me later in the week?" He'd tell her what he thought of her course choices, right?

When Elodie was seated nicely enough, she was physically bombarded with a best friend and THINGS. As soon as Cat spoke, Els immediately looked around the hall feverishly and swatted back at her besties arm with wide eyes. "Your boyfriend's sister is here, Caterina!" Might as well repeat it. Might as well repeat everything that everyone needed to know.

"What did you do? What haven't you told me? Is she here to kill you? Should I deflect her away with my new badge? Use my imaginary ninja skills on her? Throw an apple at her head?"

.... Wait. Would she end up dead herself then? What about one of those creepy dolls? Was she gonna get one of those too?

This was not fun.

"Of course you are," Ana agreed pleasantly. She gave out lollipops, therefore meaning she was great. Obvs. Also Lux was a Hufflepuff and no one could tell her that the little girl wasn't amazing. So you know Ana didn't disagree per se. She just thought Slytherin was better because she was in that house. And also boyfriend.

"You know, if you don't mind I think I'll stay here too." Not that she'd really leave if Elodie told her too but it was polite to seek permission from the other girl right? What with her being a prefect and this being her house table and all.

Now she remembered where she'd heard of Elodie before. She was the girl that kept upsetting LUX!!!!! So not cool.

Although, looking at them now everything seemed to be alright between them. Ana would keep an eye out though so she'd know if she needed to hex anybody.

Ethan turned to see who it was and lo and behold it was the badged girl bearing GOODIES. And what was up with stealing her children? This is too confusing. Being a transfer can be sooo difficult. But then, she’s got food and she’s bringing it to him.

“MOTHER!!!” Ethan exclaimed totally forgetting that he doesn’t know said girl. All he knew was that she was bearing food for his stomach, so it was just right to call her that. I’ve got a long name and I’m getting tired of saying it over and over and over…” Pause. “Yeah, I’m Ethan. Third year. Slytherin dude.” Well, he just had to put that tiny bit of info out, because he thought it was important.

He then turned to Ana and handed her the other treat. Lollipop for his new friend. Yep. He’s nice like that.

“Meeeh. I was hoping for a loud cheer from you guys.” Ethan then made a face. “Meh. Probably not. Mordred won’t cheer for me even if he was here…” Yeah, that older cousin of his might not even bother. Actually, he will be bothered, what with Ethan ending up in Slytherin.

Ana must have seen his face go sad a little, and his face blushed just a tad when she gave him a brief hug. “SHELIKESHUGS??!” Ethan’s face went from smiley to smiling ridiculously. “You like hugs!” This time, he didn’t hesitate and gave her a quick, sloppy, but friendly side hug. “You’re awesome!” And there he was proving Mordred mentally that not all Slytherins don’t do hugs.

More Yellow People came to their table, and Ethan gave them all a polite nod and smile. It was just proper, right? Being a transfer and all that. He then spotted a girl (Lux), about his age, who waved at Ana. She’s got a nice smile, and a pro waver too! Awesome! “Haaaaaaai!” Well, he had to say something at least. He was after all in the wrong table. Might as well throw in some friendly manners while he’s there.

He then got distracted when one of the older boys (Declan) leaned closer to him and whispered that he was at the wrong table. “I AM?!” Ethan asked feigning a surprise. The Slytherin then gave the older Hufflepuff a grin and a salute. “It’s all good, sir! Your mother told me I can stay.” He said as he pointed at Elodie. BEAM.

Then another boy (Adi) got his attention. He’s probably in the same year as Ethan. “YO! 'SUP DUDE?” Is that how they call each other here in Hogwarts? Well, he will soon find out. And yes, yes. He’s sitting at the wrong table. “No worries, dude! Everything has been rectified.” Nod nod. “Do you have a name? Or do I have to call you ‘Dude’?” Dude is a cool name. Duuuuuude. “I’m Ethan! A not so cool name...” Instead of a handshake, he balled up his fist for a fist bump and stretched out his arm towards the boy. Mordred will be mortified by his manners, but he’s not there so it’s all good.

Mother????

Strange boy. At least he wasn't calling Ana that. But still, Elodie totally wasn't old enough to be considered young kids mother. Not that she actually knew how old the boy was...

But he got their house name right so beaming smile for him. Especially when he shared his goodies. "Thank you," she told him as she took some lollipops off his hands, immediately unwrapping one and beginning to suck on it. Oh BLESSED SUGAR!

A loud cheer? "Yeah... not gonna happen Ethan. A lot of them don't seem to cheer loudly. Pity," because Ana would totally be up for loud cheering. She could even pretend to lead the cheering. She wanted to be a cheerleader. Blink. "Who's Mordred?" His name sounded cool. All Arthurian and stuff but she'd never heard of the guy. At least she didn't think she had.

HE HUGGED HER! YES! THIS WAS GOOD!

"Of course I like hugs. Just ask Lux. Apparently I even give great ones." Why would Ethan think people wouldn't like hugs? Everyone should like hugs. Because hugs were amazing. Now she wanted to corner Terry for hugs. He hadn't hugged her in a while. This was a tragedy now that she was thinking about it. She'd have to hunt him down in the Common Room later.

What was that? She was awesome? Well, Ana knew that. Nice of him to confirm it though. "So are you Ethan," she told him, smile returning to her face. He ended up giving hugs, therefore awesome. Made up for his strangeness and everything.

As more people came to the table Ana shifted slightly so that there would be room, smiling pleasantly at some of the younger faces.

"So Ethan, what year are you in?" Ana asked, turning back to her fellow snake. He didn't look like a first year, she'd say he was actually around Lux's age but she wasn't going to assume.

Marigold grinned at Hazel. She was close to her in a different way than most - it was more like the sister she wished she had, but didn't. Plus, they were only one year apart, which meant that they could connect to each other like they were the same age, but Marigold could still giver her advice. Which she liked giving.

"Hey! I'm good, sweetie. How are you?" She had adapted affectionate terms such as 'sweetie' and 'dear' over the summer with Moo (whose every other word was 'darling'), and so by now she just threw it in her words wherever.

Marigold kept looking at her. OH RIGHT this was the part where she said something. But what should she say? Norah was suddenly self conscious to be the object of such a popular-seeming girl's attention. So, she said the first thing that came to her mind. "When's dinner?"

This girl she liked. This girl Marigold really and truly liked. First off, she was yelling to be heard, which Marigold appreciated because it meant she had energy (and Marigold could hear her). Secondly, she got so excited she forgot to say your name. Marigold's mouth twisted into a small smile as she said, "And you are?" She was a real cutie, this one. And then, this girl just blurted out a question about food. Marigold leaned farther forward (away from Mitch's cinnamon smell - pout) and extended a hand for a high five.

"Food on the brain is the way to go. And it should be out soon." Marigold was hungry, now that she thought about it. All she had had on the train was chocolate.

Yummmm.

It really was good to see Dylan again. The last time they had met up had been fun, and they had both enjoyed a lot of candy. Of course all of Lux's was long gone by now, but it was okay because she would definitely be getting more when the first Hogsmeade visit of the term came.

"I am doing great! Summer was awesome, but I am so happy to be back here now." New people coming in, and seeing some faces that she hadn't since the last feast.

Already she could tell that this term was going to be amazing.



It was great to see that she wasn't the only one who seemed excited.

Happily, Lux beamed at Adi. "I am doing great! I'm so happy to be here and eager to start as a Third Year. Are you?" They would be learning a lot of new things, and she couldn't wait to get better at certain subjects like Astronomy and Potions, because they were her favourites.

"I can't believe it's been literally a year since I was placed into Hufflepuff." And while her favourite was still Gryffindor, she had come to love her House and a lot of the people in it.





Spotting two First Years heading over to the table, Lux gave them both a smile and a friendly wave. "Hello, welcome to Hogwarts! Are you enjoying yourselves so far?" Hopefully they were. "I'm Lux," she added in introduction.



It had been a little while since Lux had seen Marigold, so it was nice to see that her friend was doing well. Marigold always seemed so energetic and cheerful; it was very refreshing to be around someone like that.

"The fashion show was awesome!" she called back happily. Sleep overs with Cinnamon and Emmy were always so much fun, and it was sad that she would not be sharing a dorm with them. Of course she was very happy for them being Sorted into Gryffindor, and during the summer they could have loads more, so it was still going to be totally awesome. "Did you have a great summer?"



Lux smiled as a girl she had never spoken to before said hello to her. She seemed to be in the same Year as her, so that was always a great thing. "Nice to meet you, Hazel. I'm Lux! Did you have a good summer?" This girl seemed really friendly, and Lux was always wanting to make new friends.



Seeing that Nola was Sorted into Hufflepuff made Lux bounce in her seat a little. She really liked her new friend a lot, so it was exciting to see that they would be sharing the same House. "Hey, Nola! Welcome to Hufflepuff!"

This was amazing, because it meant that if Nola had any more questions about Hogwarts, Lux could easily answer them.



Kace wished that he could have some cucumber sandwiches? Did that mean he liked them?

"Well, I still have some left if you want any after," she offered because sharing was caring, and she would love to share her food with Kace because he was awesome. "Bay hates them, so that means I get them all." Though as far as she knew, his mother still tried to force them on him along with all that other healthy food...

Of course. Maybe he didn't know that Bay had interned. Silly her for thinking that it would have been common knowledge. "Well, he interned at Weasley's Wizarding Weezes and it seems that he has brought a lot of products to the school." This made her give an amused snort, because she could just picture all the things he and Bart would get up to. "I saw Emmy at the Gryffindor table," she added with a nod. Lux was so happy that her friend had made it to Hogwarts since she had started to get paranoid about it.

"Yes! I am really excited for her and Cinnamon for being Sorted into Gryffindor. You know, it's my favourite House." That last part was said in a whisper.



Hearing her name, Lux turned her attention to Ana, who was talking to that Slyherin boy who seemed to be rather friendly. "Oh, yes! Ana gives some of my favourite hugs!" She was maybe second or third on the list. Bay was her favourite, because he gave boyfriend hugs, which obviously no one else could.

After that, er, awkward encounter with Miss Cambridge and Mr. Kim at the entrance, Airey made his way towards the Hufflepuff table - entirely forgetting that he had left the staff table to go to the loo in the first place - and began to scan the students for a particular pogo-loving Hufflepuff.

"Evening Hufflepuffs," Airey greeted loudly. Welcome and congratulations to all the new sortees and all that. "Have any of you seen Mr. Tempus? I need to speak with him."

Declan let out a little chuckle as he gathered all the memories from the Peru trip for storytime, "For starters, we ended up landing in Vipertooth county." He paused. "Do you know what a Vipertooth is?" He had to ask, you know? If the kid didn't know then it wouldn't mean anything! "Then the following week we got trapped in a mudslide with mountain trolls. Super scary. And then we finally reached El Dorado, we got ambushed by zombies." He looked at him from the corner of his eye to see if Adi hadn't gotten lost anywhere. "And that's the trip for you." Yep. Yep.

A Hufflepuff is a person?!?! What kind of person is that?? "Patient??" Dec blurted out. Did he accidentally get sorted in the wrong house or something?

Oh yeah. These were going to be a couple of interesting years. "I sure hope so, Adi, I sure hope so." He said, raising his empty goblet as some sort of toast.

Dec had gotten up from his seat to move down to where the Betty chick was at because she was interesting and even if there wasn't any flirting involved, he liked her kind to hang with. However, someone's flailing arm caught his attention from the corner of his eye. He was gonna do his usual glance and keep walking, but ended up doing a double take when he realized it was his cousin, Marigold. Were they in the same house?? He peered to check out her tie. Yep! Both Hufflerpluffs! Great! That's when he noticed the extra arm sticking out from her neck. Wait, that's not her arm...WHO'S THAT BLOKE WHO'S GOT HIS ARM AROUND HIS BABY COUSIN?! Must be the same bloke (Mitch) his aunt was talking about to his mum. Sorry, Betty. They'd up to catch up later.

The new Hufflepuff strided over to their side of the table. Standing at six feet tall, the boy towered over the pair of them as he shoved his hands in between them and pryed them apart. Forcing Squeezing himself in between the two, he settled into the bench comfortably. He turned to his favorite cousin, "Guess we're in the same house, Mari!" GRIN. More easier to protect her from boys like this one!

Jakoby gently closed his book and sat it on the table in front of him. It was starting to look like to him that he was not going to get reading done since his best friend had surprised him.... and since other people began to seem interested in him. Why? He had no idea. "I -- yeah, yeah I am," he was quick to reply with a following nod. He gave her one of his looks before saying, "I'll probably be having a lot of homework, Lamb." Which meant most of his adventures would be in his happy place: the LIBRARY. The library was the happiest place on the earth. "I do not feel like adventures in this place will be.... safe.... and happy." He took a quick glance around the Great Hall. Nope, it seemed like they would be more like scary and dangerous.

This place just looked like danger.

He smiled that little iconic smile of his at her response. "I don't know." He was just being silly with her. Absentmindedly, he ran his fingers through his hair, pushing some of his semi-curly locks back out of his face. "I'm starving," he murmured. "I did not eat the sandwich I had on the train." And he was definitely regretting it now.

Jakoby had to squint a little bit at the redheaded girl as he tried hearing what she was saying. It seemed to be getting louder in the Great Hall, and she was not sitting that close to him. "Uh..... yes," he replied. "I -- I was homeschooled for a few years by my mother." And honestly, he wished she had kept homeschooling him instead of pushing him here with all these people who seemed to be interested in him. Did he have a sign on him that said 'talk to me'? If so, it needed to come of asap...

"Well -- um..." He looked over at Lambrini then back at the redhead. "I'm fine here." He liked it here next to the person he actually knew, and the thought of even having to move and be around a group of people he did not know made his hands shake.

Somebody else was TALKING TO HIM? Okay, he must of had an invisible sign on him. His hazel eyes diverted to this other girl nearby that gave him a little welcoming, which was followed by a question. Jakoby's lips curved into a little smile as he replied, "H -- Hi." Deeeeeep breaths. "Uh -- yeah. People are very, erm.... friendly.... outgoing here..." Whatever word she preferred to use to describe the group of people sitting at this table.

He took a long pause before realizing he did not even introduce himself to this girl, and he changed that by saying, "I'm Jakoby."
