Entering the common room through the same corridor as the kitchens the kitchens, you will find a pile of large barrels stacked in the shadowy stone recess to your right. The second barrel from the bottom, middle of the second row, will open when tapped to the enunciation of 'Helga Hufflepuff'. (*Note: non-Hufflepuffs who tap the wrong barrel, or the incorrect number of times, will result in one of the lids bursting off and dousing the trespasser in vinegar)

Following a sloping, earthy passage inside the barrel, which will then travel upwards slightly, a cozy, round, low-ceilinged room comes into view. Welcome! Your common room is like your sanctuary. During your seven years here, your house will be like your family. The room is decorated in the cheerful house colors of yellow and black, enhanced by the use of highly polished honey-colored wood for the tables and then round doors which lead to the boys' and girls' dormitories.

Directly over the wooden mantelpiece, which is covered with carvings of decorative dancing badgers, is a portrait of Helga Hufflepuff, your house founder and one of the four Hogwarts founders, toasting her students with a tiny, two-handled golden cup. There are small, round windows level with the ground at the foot of the castle, showing a pleasant view of grass and flowers, occasionally people. As a result of the low windows, the room has a year-round sunny feel to it.

I know I would being the rebel I am." he joked with Declan a little bit. Just a bit hopefully he didn't take it too seriously.

Oh wow...he liked his coffee homemade? That was new! "Woah dude, i didn't know you liked it homemade. That is impressive. I just go to Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks being the american I am." he said making fun of himself just a little bit. "Have you ever visited the Americas before?" he asked curiously.

He's got a point there, "Especially now that I'm not there to keep her safe." Maybe he should just be there for her, but not live her life for her...UGH. MORALS.

Dylan made his way down from the dorm into the common room, holding his kitten Ginger in his arms as he went. He glanced around the room and decided to go sit near the corner. Taking a seat on the floor, he smiled and gently placed her down. "I got you a toy, Ginger!" he said, pulling out a little feather toy from his pocket. The kitten cocked her head, sniffing at it curiously. He moved it around and laughed out loud as she raced about, trying to catch it. She sure was cute.

Arya held in her arms, Lux slowly made her way from her dorms to the Common Room. The thought of sitting on one of the chairs near the fire and talking to friends was very appealing right now.

A smile formed on her face as she saw Dylan playing with Ginger. They both needed to meet Arya, and now was a great time to do it. "Time for you to make a new friend," she whispered to her kitten before placing her on the ground.

Within seconds, her kitten had ran to join Ginger in trying to get the feathered toy. Amused, Lux stood at the doorway and watched.

"I have cousins who were all Hufflepuffs....But no one in my direct family ever talked about going to Hogwarts before, so I don't really know anyone else's house." Hallie nodded three times and gave Elodie a sympathetic look. "That must have been so hard...And look at you now, you're all tall and pretty and prefect. Maybe I'll be like you if I work hard." Hallie was a very ambitious person. She'd been steely and determined and hard-working her whole life. She could certainly get herself a prestigious position here if she tried hard enough.

Hallie smiled her first real smile of the day. "I'd love that," she affirmed sincerely at the mention of the kitchens. ~~She could show Coral and not mention that she hadn't figured it out on her own.~~

Ah he lived in San Jose? That was interesting. Kace nodded and wished he could visit Cali, but he knew some of the cities. "Ah i know were San Jose is. Don't worry." he chuckled. But then he looked around the common room and realized no one was in here. He liked it this way. "So how are you like Hogwarts so far? Meet any cute girls yet?" he asked the dude with a smirk.

Oh, that's good. Made his life just a teensy bit easier. "I'd offer to show you around someday, but I don't believe we'll be heading back that way anytime soon." To be honest, he liked California and all that sunny jazz, but he liked his home country's air and environment better. Healthy, green grass and brilliant castles for miles.

OOH, now they were talking about his favorite topic, GIRLS! "I've met a handful of pretty girls, but I'm more than positive they all have a significant other. No luck there." He leaned forward, resting his arms on his legs, "With all my experience getting chicks, I can already tell who's taken and who isn't." He leaned back to his previous position. Protecting the Muggles from the shock of the Magical, he supposed.

Gosh, it was so much fun watching Arya and Ginger play. Lux knew already that they were going to be good friends. Kitten play dates would be awesome, and her and Dylan would have lots of time to hang out with each other while they happened.

As soon as her friend spotted her, she walked over to join him. "Yep, her name is Arya. I thought this would be a good way for you and Ginger to get to know her." Plus some exercise would always be good for her kitten.

Happily, Lux plopped herself down on the floor beside Dylan. Watching the kittens play was so relaxing and adorable. It was a shame that Mr. Mittens and Coco weren't here, but honestly having more than three pets at Hogwarts was exhausting. She would still be able to see them over the holidays.

Lux was happy to hear that Dylan was enjoying Hogwarts too. She started to absent-mindedly play with the hem of her dress as she watched the kittens playing. Hogwarts really was her home away from home, and she felt so blessed for being able to come here.

"The only thing that sucks is that Quidditch is cancelled. I don't play because I'm too scared of heights, but I like to watch. I love Quidditch." It was a real shame that someone had to send a threat about it. Who did that kind of thing? Clearly a crazy person.

"So last year, i was talking a lot of girls since they obviously think i am adorable." he winked but he had to add a little humor. "But this rumor went around that i was a Puffanova and i liked Marigold McAllistor at the time and they wondered what she thought." he shrugged. "But we aren't together anymore and like three girls were involved, Marigold, Brynny, Melek and that's it....So i think i should stay away from girls for a while." he joked and grinned. "But i have my new girlfriend Emmy now that i love to death." he assured Declan.

He nodded at his dream. "Well mate i hope you get into the law program. I heard it is not easy task." That is all he would say on it.

Dylan's eyes widened. Qudditch was canceled?! Why hadn't he heard that? He blinked for a minute. "Wait, what?" he asked. "I had no idea it was canceled...why?" he cocked his head, frowning. Odd how he had just heard about this. Then again, he didn't hear much news about anything going on at Hogwarts it felt like. Perhaps when it was announced he just wasn't eve paying attention. But this was extremely disappointing because he had been looking forward to trying out this year...*sigh*

That was all so many people were talking about. "Apparently the Headmistress got a threatening letter that made her cancel it? I don't know all the details... but yeah." It was freaky stuff, and she really missed having the sport around. "I mean, of course I miss it.... but I think everyone being safe is more important. As I said, I don't play. But my boyfriend was on the Gryffindor team last term." He had been the Seeker. Of course she had known other players, but a lot of them had Graduated.

Laughing along with him, Lux totally could understand what he meant about being late hearing news. That happened to her as well sometimes, and it really could be frustrating at times. Fortunately he was in the know now, and clearly not devastated by the news as some people clearly were. "I'm guessing extra security has been added to the school... and if not, it will be at some point." In a way it reminded her of when the Dementors had been at Hogwarts after Sirius Black had escaped from Azkaban. Fortunately such measures wouldn't be needed again, and Ministry people could take care of things.

Nodding, Lux really wanted to know what was in it too. "I really am curious too, and it baffles me why someone would have such a huge problem with Quidditch." True, some people took it too seriously and things could get out of hand.... but it was simply a sport meant for fun. She could never understand why people got violent over it. Even as a competitive person, she was never violent, and never would be unless someone besides Bay tried to kiss her; then she would punch them in the face.

Elodie smiled ever so softly. "That's for me to know and you to go find out." She could do that, right? Keep something from one of the rugrats? Besides, she was too lazy to give details and...really... Elodie was pretty darn certain that if she hadn't known by now and stuff... she'd have used her own common sense to piece the pieces together and work it out for herself. It was easy enough once you found out that quidditch was cancelled. There was only one choice, right? "Make sure to congratulate them when you see them with their badge, okay?" It was only fair. Fair, deserved and something she didn't really care too much about. She could have done this on her own. It wouldn't have mattered much to her. It wasn't like she was devastatingly attached to her co-prefect.

Heavens no. She was NOT. Half of the time she wanted to clip him around the head for being an idiot.

She nodded her head about the stories thing. "Well if you ever need me, or can't sleep or have a nightmare. You know where the seventh year dorms are. Just...don't wake Olly up. She may find something to hit you with. And I'm afraid my loyalty to my friend is much more than my loyalty to my house." In other words, she wasn't going to tell Olly to do anything. She had her own mind and Elodie appreciated her company when she needed it or wanted it. And she definitely didn't pry into any issue that arose.

I'm sure you'll grow a little more and maybe you too can get yourself a badge." Not that she'd be as good as Elodie was herself, because..lollipops and bedtime stories. Now, that was a good prefect. "Don't let getting a badge overcome you though, okay? The best people I know have never had one and they... well they're wonderful and true and I wouldn't ask for better people." Mostly meaning Caterina. Her person. Her other half. Her absolute best friend in the universe and her unofficial sister.

Everything Elodie was, was Caterina Moretti.

"I'll show you where things are in there too. C'mon. I'll show you to your dorm and get you settled in." Introduce her to her dormmates and everything.

Dylan sighed. He was pretty upset about this whole Quidditch thing, but if it was for the best then it was what it was. He just hoped they'd have it next year. "Do you think we'll ever find out?" he asked, referring to the letter. He was really itching to know. He felt they had some right to know at least an idea of what it said...right? Huh. Maybe it was just his opinion.

Turning to the kittens, he smiled at the sight of them snuggling. "Lux, look!" he whispered to her, gesturing to the two who were basically asleep now. "Isn't that adorable?" he asked, completely forgetting about the whole Quidditch thing.

That was a good question, and Lux wished she knew the answer. "I hope so, because whoever sent the letter could be very dangerous and needs to be caught." Of course it could have been an empty threat, but it would be foolish to take the risk.

Attention drawn the the kittens, her heart melted as she watched them asleep together on the floor. "Oh my gosh. They tired each other out playing." That was the cutest thing she had ever seen.
