Kyroh wasn't crying, tears were just making their way out his eyes okay? He was fine. Just fine with hiding here for the rest of class. Buried in his arms. It sounded good. Until the girl started talking again. He peaking through the gap in his arms he sniffled and blinked at her. If she didn't mean it why did she say it? Kyroh didn't understand.

But he couldn't ask her. Because as soon as she said sorry she was gone. Right out the door.

...Was that even allowed? Was she crying? Did he make her cry? He was sorry.

Kyroh buried his face again and tried to wipe away the tears, just as the Professor appeared. See? He hadn't done anything wrong right? Right?

Then why did he feel so bad?

"I know. Ravenclaw's great." Kyroh mumbled into his arms sadly, doubting that the Professor could hear him but it didn't matter anyways. It didn't matter. Class. History time.

Under normal circumstances Kyroh would have been the first to ask to play the dragon. But he didn't want to. Instead he lifted his head and slowly made his way to the front of the room and grabbed a Muggle swimsuit. He hesitated before dragging the swim suit over and standing beside Maddie and Nigel who were also Muggle characters.

Did people actually wear these things? They were weird. Like pyjamas more than swimsuits. Kyroh wanted to ask. But he wouldn't. Stepping into the large strange looking swimsuit. The first year blinked slightly surprised as the suit shrunk to his size.

A younger Hufflepuff was quick to volunteer to help with the tail, and Mo gave her a cheerful wave before scooting out of his seat to claim the dragon costume. Honestly, he didn't know how Lux would be his tail, unless they extended it, attached a stick, and let her wave it. She couldn't get INTO the costume with him.

"Come on, partner. Let's go get dressed, then."

Mo grinned broadly as he was assigned the role of the dragon officially, and even MORE broadly when the costume reshaped around him to fit better. That was good, honestly, because he was a bit tall and broad shouldered for a costume meant for smaller teenagers, and it had been quite an unfortunate fit before it expanded to make room for him.

He accepted the potion gratefully from the professor, giving her a small salute. "I've used it before, Professor. Thanks." Not swallowing it was definitely good advice, as Mo remembered just how unpleasant an experience it was when one's stomach was on fire.

Wait...they were going to be acting?!

Now this lesson was gonna be interesting! He could act pretty well. He can be comfortable up on stage or in this case acting in front of his classmates. Plus the outfits didn't look too horrible to wear.

Now this lesson was getting interesting. So they needed to pick their roles? Kace grinned and joined with Grayson in being a beach-going muggle. He could totally play that role well. "Professor, I will be the muggle sun-bather as well!" he called out raising his hand. That should be fun. He went over to the costumes and began to get his costume.

Awesome, she got to be the dragon's tail!!

Jumping up from her seat, Lux decided that the first thing she wanted to do was the breathing exercises. Wearing a tail might make it harder, and surely she wouldn't get in trouble for doing the exercises first? This Professor seemed super NICE and AWESOME. Because how many of their lessons involved pretending to be a dragon???

Breathe innnnnnn and outttttttt. How many times did she have to do this? Probably not too many because this Merpuff didn't really do nervousness. After a few minutes, that was enough of the breathing so on to the costume getting! EEEP, THIS WAS SOO COOL!

Beaming and waving at the boy she was partnered with (who was named Mo) Lux skipped over to where all the outfits were. Ewww, why were the beach outfits so gross? Did muggles really wear those things in the 1930s? They were so UGLY. And how could anyone get suntanning done when most of their bodies were covered? BUT ON TO MORE IMPORTANT THINGS.

"So how do you want to do this, Mo? Maybe we can put the tail on a stick and I could wave it around like a flag?" Because that might be fun!

WHAT?!

Seriously? ... Everything was TAKEN! Well, all the good parts, at least. Sophie frowned. "What's left, Professor? Muggle on the beach?" she asked, raising her hand. "Do I have to be sunbathing? What about beach volleyball? That sounds cool!" Sunbathing sounded cool, too, but Sophie wanted something unique and special. Plus, she could hit people in the head with a volleyball and claim it was an accident.

She strolled over to the old-fashioned swimsuits and selected one. What was THIS? Oh, well. At least it worked well with the winter weather. She slipped it on over her robes and watched as it transformed itself to fit her body.

She needed a volleyball.

Professor Glendower's reply to his question came just in time. Cris was in the process of channeling himself into the mind of young Ellis...or at least..what he thought Ellis Toke's feelings would be at the time of the incident.

'He'd be excited about the prospect of going to the beach with his family. He'd be nervous at the same time that he would make a mistake and perform magic in front of many muggles. He'd be wondering whether they would meet another wizarding family at the beach. He'd be hoping that there would be a pretty single witch in that family,' Cris thought to himself, even as he continued to close his eyes, allowing the slow breathing technique to relax him even further.

'He'd also be pretty excited if he ended up meeting a pretty muggle girl. He'd then be anxious about meeting any single girl. Would he be all awkward and gawky? Then he'd be feeling apprehensive about getting sun-burned and end up looking like a red lobster' Cris thought to himself, placing himself in the young wizard's shoes.

Cris slowly opened his eyes. He was now ready to portray the Ellis Toke, the heroic single son of Virginia Toke.

Ilfacrombe Incident! That sounded like something that she would have to look up, and just like with the first question she just really didn't want to. Considering that the professor told her that she needed to be a bit more specific, AJ flipped the pages in her textbook. DRAGONS! She was just about to open her mouth to say just that when everybody else beat her to it. Oh well, she made notes, so that was kind of the same thing right?

More costumes? Was this like a theme at Hogwarts or something. Apparently she had fallen asleep or something because all of the cool parts seemed to be taken. She would have loved to be a dragon, and she would have made a dang good one too. Looking at the board she decided that she would have to be one of the kids. Next time she would have to speak up sooner.

"I guess I'll be one of the various kids." They couldn't have been that cool if they were just various... they didn't even have their own names. YAY... not.

Simon continued to taking deep breaths in and out as he thought about the Minister's role. He'd have to be super professional. He'd have to carry himself with a certain air. He was a leader. Simon would have to be loud and serious. Maybe make a couple jokes on the side. He opened his eyes briefly and saw Agatha standing quite close to him. Uh, hiya. He continued to listen to the ongoing conversations around him and realized that she was going to be Tilly Toke. He could feel the air around them prickle as Agatha had found out that she had a Hufflepuff husband. He nudged her with his elbow. "Now how come I wasn't invited to the wedding, my friend?" he whispered giving her a wink before he refocused on his own task at hand.

How did a leader move?

With confidence and style. Mhmm. Yes.

Now it was time to practice the relaxation warm up exercises. Jasmine closed her eyes and began to take slow, deep breaths. She tried to relax her head, face and neck first. Then she followed by relaxing her shoulders and arms. She continued to try to relax the muscles in her body moving down until she reached her legs and feet.

All the while, Jasmine continued to breathe slowly and deeply. Finally she let her mind think about her character. She was a young muggle girl out for a day at the beach with her family. Her motivation probably started out as fun, fun and more fun. That was her objective for the day initially. However, after the dragon appeared, she was probably motivated by fear. She would have been concerned with getting away from the beach and the terrifying dragon as quickly as possible.

Jasmine pictured the girl in her mind. Then she tried to see herself as the girl. She [/I]was[/I] the girl and Jasmine tried to imagine what she must have felt........put herself in the girl's shoes so to speak.

Now that the silly, could-be-bathing-suit-but-really-a-pyjama was on him Kyroh looked around. He was suppose to do something else...right. Kyroh looked around once more and noticed a bunch of people with their eyes closed.

So he did the same.

He was suppose to breathe too right? But he was already breathing! Otherwise he'd be dead right now. So instead of breathing even louder he started to make that meditating noise!"Ommmmmmm. OOOOOMMMMM." Good yeah? He even began to wiggle his arms because that showed he was relaxed right?

He was a relaxed sunbather who was wearing a silly suit. Ah. And he was on the beach. Beach. Sun. Sitting would probably be better for sunbathing. But... what if he didn't want to be a sunbather? What if he wanted to be one of those guys that always ran on the beach? The thought would have excited him, running and having FUN but....Kyroh just shook his head. He was just a sunbather. That was all.

Bathing in the sun. Sun. Maybe he should sit down? As the thought entered his brain the first year dropped to the ground and stretched his arms and feet out. Bathing. In the sun. Sun. Beach. Lots of sun. Heat? THE SUN WAS HOT! AH!

Kyrohs eyes opened "I need sunscreen."

Agatha was pretending to be breathing with her eyes 'closed'. She had missed the instructions about having to think how her character would act and walk and all that, so she just had her eyes half-closed and kept watching everyone.

Even though she was watching things around her, Simon was on her other side and she was startled when he nudged her. Her face turned slightly red at his comment/wink and she fully opened her eyes again. She didn't answer her fellow Slytherin, but pursed her lips and looked from him to the Hufflepuff who was supposed to be her husband. She didn't even know that other kid, which made her face turn ever redder.

She decided to play it cool though, and stood up straighter and fixed her hair as she tried to not look towards her 'husband'. Merlin, that was going to be awkward. She kind of regreted having chosen that particular character. But not really, because she got to play an important part and she liked that very much. Actually, when were they starting? She was ready!

Caleb didn't want to be one of the BIG characters. He wasn't an actor and honestly, couldn't get excited enough about one of the main characters to actually play the role effectively. So he decided to be one of the muggles, cause they were just like...all over, right? So he just had to point and yell and pretend to be afraid.

"I'll be one of the muggles," he said with a shrug. Yup, that was all that was left, right?

Despite herself, Beverly closed her eyes and inhaled and exhaled. She first started by clearing her mind, or at least, tried to. If she didn't think of one thing then she'd thing of another. It was easier when she started focusing on relaxing each part of her body. For a peculiar reason, it was easier to start a her finger tips, then up her arms, then her head, then down to the tip of her toes.

Beverly was extremely still and probably resembled someone sleep-standing. While she did that her mind wandered to the role as Virginia that she'd be playing. What were her thoughts? Did she stop and analyze the situation or did she decided to act immediately? Was she excited to see a dragon or did she fear for her life? This was interesting, getting into character.

Arista sighed all the awesome parts were taken so she had to be a muggle or a child. Yay?? Well she would be the best dang child ever! Even if she didn't have the acting experience. But how hard it could be because she just needed to point and scream her head off, right or was it different if she was a kid?

"I'll be one of the various children." she said with a small shrug. Since that was all that was left.

Lucy put on her costume..She started to imagine the beach...She was listening to the sound of the waves and the buzz of the people...

Angel quickly put the silly bathing suit on her, serious didn't the people from that time have any fashion sense, this could so easily work as clothing, you wanted to look nice when you were out and about on a Beach not like a clown, which she sort of felt like at the minute, if she had a red nose it would be a perfect match.

Angel looked at the Professor and smiled. "I'm ready Professor." Angel thought that it would be polite to tell the professor she was ready, she was still worried about Penelope at the minute and wanted to go and get her back because she was missing all the fun but the Professor had said no and Angel wasn't going to disobey the Professor.

Now Ilfracombe incident sounded like something that could've happened to his grandmother; the old lady had a knack for trouble. Damian wasn't complaining, though, it made for fun storytelling times in his childhood.

The boy jotted down notes to the best of his abilities; there was a lot his muggle-brain couldn't understand. Swinging his legs under him, Damian listened to the professor with mild interest. But at the mention of role-playing, his interest piqued sharply. Oh my stars! He sooooo wanted to be a dragon, or a dragon-slaying prince. The tiny first year scrambled his way over to the costumes, fighting his way through an overenthusiastic crowd.

Too bad, too late.

The dragon costume was gone, and all there was left was.....a bathing suit for the ladies. Damian's lower lip wibbled, eyes stinging. He looked around frantically, hoping to find the male counterpart of the weird swimwear.

No such luck.

He couldn't walk around the classroom donning ladies swimwear. No, no. Not happening. Buuuuut, he'd miss out on the role-playing bit. Slowly, cautiously, his tiny hand reached for the outfit, wincing upon touching the fabric as if the mere touch of it burned. Inside, he was on the verge of tears. With a surreptitious glance around, Damian began to stuff himself inside the costume, which then magically adjusted itself to fit him, eliciting a jump out of him. He'd never get used to magic. Sigh.

Oh, boy. His cheeks were on fire, and he was already sweating. Okay. Deep breaths. Deep breaths. Eyes closed, the first year tried to relax, imagining himself at the beach, wearing women's swimwear, the sun blazing in all its glory. And then, out of nowhere, his grandma popped into his head, and so did an idea. He'd role play as his grandma sunbathing in Ilfracombe!

Pure genius. Smiling, he made his way over to a group of muggle sunbathers, and plopped down next to a boy. Oooooh, wasn't he that Ravenclaw . . . never mind. "Here you go, deary." Damian said in sweet, quavering tones, shoving an imaginary tube of sunscreen in the boy's hand. "You don't want a nasty sunburn, now do you?" He patted the Ravenclaw's head, like his own grandma did whenever he watered her cactus.

So the next thing that came in all of this was grabbing his costume..............

............................ What? WHAT?! What was THIS?!

Grayson held up the costume, a disgusted look crossing his face. This was freaking WEIRD. Did people actually walk around in these back in the day? Oh jeez. Poor ancestors, man. These were HORRIBLE. There was no way anyone could look even a little bit good in these things.

Now scowling, the fourteen year old went to put the costume on. Just as he had expected, it was WEIRD. Especially over his uniform. He was immediately starting to regret this decision. Maybe he really should have taken the role of one of the children. He'd have looked like less of a weird one right about now. Uh huh. Not happy, he was.

Regardless, he could take a little pride in knowing that he wasn't the only weird looking one out here. Smirking a little, the Slytherin closed his eyes and started taking deep breaths. He was meant to be relaxing and whatnot. Relaxing from the top of his head to the tips of his toes. And he had to think about the character he was trying to portray? Er. Couldn't he just be HIMSELF?! A version of himself back in the 1900s. He was just a background character. He was sure that it didn't MATTER.

With his eyes still closed, the fourteen year old took another deep breath before deciding on portraying someone who was just sunbathing and was out to have a chill. That was all. Or play volleyball as Sophie over there had mentioned. He wouldn't be upset if they could do that. And then a giant Common Welsh Green was attacking and he had to be distraught or whatever. Distraught and upset.

JEEZ, this was going to be hard.

Finally opening his eyes, Grayson took another couple of deep breaths and looked around. He was ready. Uh huh.

Cris could wait for the play to get started. As he waited for the others to complete their relaxation exercises, he wandered over to join his fellow 'Wizarding family'. He chuckled at the sight of the young Slytherin who would play his character's sister-in-law and then at Adi.

"Congratulations on getting married and having children. How does married life feel?" Cris teased Agatha and Adi. Then he turned to Beverly. "Hello mother," he jokingly addressed the Slytherin.

So where was Jasmine? She had opted to play one of the muggle beach goers. Sighting her looking uncomfortable and awkward, he walked over to join her. "You look really nice in that bathing suit. Very...um...attractive indeed" he complimented her.

"Ellis will make sure the dragon doesn't get you," he grinned, winking conspiratorially at her

Lucy felt relaxed just like a sun-bather ..
She looked at her classmates who were drinking the potion .. In the meantime she lay on the ground pretending to get a tan and stretched her legs and arms..
Lucy hoped that the dragons were coming because she could not wait to get into the part of her character!

Annabeth looked at the others who were wearing the ridiculous beach outfits. It was boring. She needed to do something to stir things. Maybe a beach ball? She opened her rucksack and found a gobstone. She smiled mischievously, it would work.

Secretly, Anna picked the gobstone, and then her wand and pointed it to the gobstone. "Engorgio!" As the small ball wasn't big enough, she cast the spell several times. When it was big enough, she cast another spell, "Pilaefors!" and the gobstone was transfigured into an old fashioned beach ball, similar to one she had seen on a picture. She grinned broadly.

"Professor, as I'm a Muggle in the beach, may I play while waiting for an interest thing to happen?" She began to throw the ball up and down, when a disturbing thought popped in her mind 'and if she hadn't cast the transfiguration charm properly? and if the amazing ball burst out like a stinky gobstone?', carefuly, she put the ball on the floor carefully. Perhaps someone else would want to play...
She looked around and joined the others in the beach outfits.

Hazel was excited to participate in this lesson. She quickly picked to be a Muggle. She'd probably never get another chance to be a totally ignorant non-magical folk, so she decided to take it. Her costume was so silly, though! Sunbathing was definitely not her thing. She walked over to the other "sunbathers", pretending to be on a beach in the hot open air. She reached into her bag and grabbed a big, floppy hat and put it on her head. That would really help her get into character! Her costume was already feeling uncomfortable, and she felt bad for the real Muggles who had to wear stuff like this. Hopefully the action starts soon, she thought to herself. That'll help pass the time in this costume. Why couldn't she have picked a different character!

Now then... costumed up and ready for action, which meant that really all Mo had to do was find his motivation and do the breathing activity. It was pretty hard to get into that comfortable zen place, though, when his classmates were buzzing around him. Mo found himself practicing some of his yoga breathing, retreating into that calm centered place where the buzz around him couldn't reach.

Motivation? What did he suppose would be the motivation of a large, carnivorous, winged creature? If he was the dragon, why would he be attacking people on the beach? Why would he even be AT the beach? It wasn't the preferred habitat for the creature, and people weren't the preferred food source. Had he escaped from a preserve nearby? Unlikely. Perhaps it was a Gringott's dragon or one being raised well outside of its home and comfort? That was more likely and got them a lot closer to a proper motivation.

If that was true, the dragon was lost, desperate, alone, and perhaps frightened. Kyroh had a point after all, and it put the situation into a new light. Mo opened his eyes and raised his hand. "Professor... what happened to the dragon? After the incident?"

Unlike the OTHER first year Ravenclaws, Dima was trying very hard not to look at anyone and stay silent. He felt rather awful for not saying anything when that Penelope girl in their house started scolding Kyroh, but it was hard to figure out if that was even ALLOWED when she was just defending Maddie's answer or something. Did that mean he was a bad friend? He didn't want to be a bad friend. This was... bad.

Quietly, he trudged up to the front of the room and grabbed a Muggle swimsuit. Too bad he couldn't be the dragon tail, but Dima didn't mind all that much. The kid climbed into it, barely noticing when it adjusted to his size. And then he went over to where Maddie and Nigel and Kyroh were.

Or mostly near Nigel. NIGEL definitely didn't think he was a bad friend, right?

And that did not just have to be sunbathing. In fact, she wasn't sure they did much of that 150 years ago, based on what the swimsuits looked like. She approved of the way this girl was really trying to get into character. Holding out one hand, Nessa took her wand in the other and conjured a ball to rest in the palm of her hand. "Here you are," she said, tossing the ball over towards her. "Go for it!"

Hm.. where did that come from?

It wasn't as well-documented, so it can only be speculated, but there has been anecdotal evidence to the claim." She hoped that was the case at least. She hated to think of the alternative.


Nessa looked around the room, beaming proudly at her students. It looked like they had all gotten into costume and were really embracing becoming their characters. "Are we all ready?" she asked, looking around at them. It seemed that way to her. "Let's begin!" Eeep, she was SO excited! Banishing her podium out of the way, she turned to the front, and now empty, part of the room. Normally she would have like to have an actual set and props, but as this was a classroom exercise and not an actual show, a bit of magic would do. Waving her wand, she cast a modified daydream charm at the front of the class, making it appear to be covered in sand with a warm ocean breeze. That should last till the end of class.

"Now.." she said, turning back to the class again. "We do not have a script so this will be an improvisational exercise. Act and respond how you think your character would act based on how you interpret your character." One reason why it was important to visualize their characters beforehand. And they all discussed what happened so it really shouldn't be difficult, not to mention she was there to direct if need be. "Muggles.. take the stage, so to speak. That includes you Dodgy Dirk." She gave a nod in Alexa's direction. "And the Toke family as well.. you are all on vacation at the beach. Act your part." Nessa gave them all a big beamy smile and stepped out of the way for them to get started.


OOC - Thank you all for being so patient while I had family stuff today! So basically we are going to try to act out this moment in Wizarding History. You should all have your parts, which I have listed below. And if you are just jumping in now, that's ok! Just grab one of the Muggle sunbather spots, there are still plenty. We are going to start with the progressive events of scene one, where everyone is on the beach then the dragon comes to attack, the Toke family fends him off/chases him away, then they perform memory charms (just pretending today, hehe).

A few posts from each person is all that's necessary, depending on how many you feel you need to get your character's actions across. To get started most people will be doing beachy things - until the dragon attacks -but remember, it is up to YOUR interpretation of the character. Please have fun with it and I'll be around for any help or questions.
