It was difficult to predict how many of the students would be showing up for the workshop, even more difficult still to predict how many would come for the maintenance free-for-all before hand. But considering a great number of the students expressed an interest in feeding the flesh-eaters again, she figured at least they would turn up. After all, it wasn't every day she was able to offer supervision in greenhouse eight.
Having unlocked the greenhouse and set up the work stations for the latter learning experience, Seren milled about sedating some of the more harmful specimens in the greenhouse before returning to the main area. The last thing she needed was a student losing an arm from being too eager to feed them.
With buckets of scrap meat, buckets of dung and a mound of compost laden with wood chips in the middle of the floor everything was set to go. Instead of slacking and observing, she too started by fussing over a growth of sword-lilies, snipping away at the browned and floppy leaves. A quick check of her watch showed that it was eight am... which meant students might be arriving any minute... any minute.
OOC: This is not a lesson, it is a workshop which is optional. You do not need to be on time, as there is no penalty for tardiness. Points will be awarded for participation. Herbology Rules and Expectations and the SS Site Rules still apply. IC rule breaking will result in IC punishment, OOC rule breaking will result in OOC punishment.
There was a workshop!!!! Eeep!! If it was anything like last lesson, Arista was so there! She literally jumped out of her bed and raced down to the greenhouse eight. Early..... Way to early, seriously what was it with early classes! But she put on a smile and stepped inside.
"Hello Professor Bentley, I didn't get a chance to actually tell you my name last lesson, I am Arista Royal!" she smiled a big smile and gave her a curtsy. Hearing an older boy do a spell (Chris) she looked at him and asked the Professor, "Whats Flipinsnipwitit?".
Cutty trailed in behind a smaller Gryffindor girl. "Flipnsnipwitit. It's a trimming charm. Handy for when you're trying to trim off dead leaves 'n such from plants." He answered calmly from behind her. He filed further into greenhouse eight and saw a few of his fellow Slytherins had already gotten there. Including a doggedly handsome one. The new transfer from Australia...what was that kids name?
"Good morning, Professor Bentley." He inhaled and recognized the smell of the meat bits. His wand was already out, in fact, he'd entered the greenhouse that way. Either he was just trying to be prepared, having noted the benefit of stunning verses freezing or he'd just recently done something. The curious little terd took a few steps closer and peered over trying to see if there was indeed meat in the buckets.
"Can I help with feedin' 'em?" Cause he really didn't get enough of that during their last class and it probably fascinated him too much.

“Greetings my friends and lovely flesh-eating plants!”Ethan showed up in Greenhouse 8 with his arms wide open as he did his morning greeting. Well, he isn’t too early now so the loud greeting was appropriate. Appropriate in case someone in the room is sleepy and all that—they don’t want to wake up inside a plant’s belly, no? Or maybe inappropriate because he might startle a grumpy flesh-eating plant who wants some peace and quiet in the morning? Well, whatever…his lovely digits are still complete, so he guessed it was all good.
“Hello, Professor Bentley!” Waves and a smile for the professor. She looked really happy today, and that helped Ethan feel a lot better. “Reporting for duty, Madame! What are we going to do today?” Feed the plants? Fertilize? Trim? Can he start now???

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
The Gryffindor looked really tired when he made his way over to the herbology workshop. He hadn't slept much over the night thanks to his detention but he didn't want to miss the workshop because he had kind of promised that he would be here. So that was why Kevin, while rubbing his eyes had showed up in Greenhouse 8 and looked around.
So, he wasn't the only one interested in this workshop? He shook his head to keep himself awake and spotted the Professor talking to the students already there. "Hai Professor" he greeted. She was actually one of the only people he ever greeted because she was nice to him. Plus she had said she saw GREAT promise in him. So she was cool. "What can i do?"
Angel knew she had to come to this, it was to do with plants after all and Angel loved Plants. "Good Day Professor Bentley!" Angel was still annoyed about the Gobstone Match but well she wasn't going to dwell on it, she had let the team down and was thinking about not playing anymore because of it, she was thinking of sticking to plants but she wasn't 100% sure yet. "What can I do Professor."
Lucy arrived at the greenhouse..she was excited for the workshop.
She said:" Good morning Professor..Can I help you?"
Lucy noticed that Angel had already arrived and turned at her to say hello!
"Hi Angel! Finally we can take care of the plants together!!!"

"I'll help with the dead foliage trimming, Professor," Cris informed the Herbology Professor as he headed over to the now docile Flesh Eating plants. "Hello my lovelies. I hope that you ready for a beauty makeover, cause here it comes," Cris called out to the plants as he unholstered his wand readying himself to do some major heavy duty trimming.
Cris had lots of faith in the Professor's stunning abilities, but he also knew that like every living creature, Flesh Eating Plants were sneaky and knew how to play possum. Yes plants I know how you work.
Putting on his dragonhide gloves, Cris slowly stuck his hand out, waving it in front of the Fanged Geraniums. Ready to pull his hand back at any sign of movement, Cris glad when all they did was move their heads sluggishly. Yay for the Professor.
Examining the Fanged Geranium in front of him, Cris spotted a dead branch. Lifting it up with one hand and seeing that it was still attached to the main trunk, Cris chose to use the trimming charm. Doing that would be less traumatic for the plant then trying to pull the dead branch off. Pointing his wand at the intersection of where the dead branch met the Geranium's trunk, Cris swished his wand and said, "Flipnsnipwitit" and wah-lah the piece of dead branch fell into his free hand.
There no trauma at all.
Placing the dead branch on the floor, he searched for other dead foliage, gently removing some of the dead leaves and placing them on the pile together with the dead branch. "You're all good now. On to the next," Cris patted the Fanged Geranium on its flower head before moving on to the next Geranium.
"Excellent, thank you for that," she supplied, nodding vigorously. So while he was tending to that, the others could........

All smiley and happy and ready to get down and dirty. Get it? Because gardening and dirt and heh.
As Zander arrived to the greenhouses he noticed that a bunch of students had already gotten there. OH NO! WAS HE LATE!? A look of panic struck his face and his happy smile disappeared. Suddenly he became all nervous and sweaty and red and gross. He went up to Professor Bentley, doing his best to look calm. Which, by the way, was NOT working. "Uh, hi Professor, erm, I-I hope I'm not late," he looked up at her with pure shame on his face. "I'm so so sorry. I don't know why it took my so long to get here and I promise I will never let it happen again and I'm really looking forward to working with the plants and whatnot."
The poor boy hadn't even taken the time to realize that he might've been on time after all. Hogwartians are super early to lessons, or workshops in this case, all the time. Or maybe everyone else had just gotten there as well. Really there was no need to panic, but Zander didn't take the time to think. He just kind of did it. Ooops. He just didn't want to let his head of house down.
...... late? he thought he was late? Seren's brief look of confusion dissipated fairly quickly, and a bright smile along with an eyebrow raised questioned his nervousness.
"Relax! ... You're fine! Not late at all, in fact I'd say your timing is as perfect as it could be, if you'd have come earlier or later it wouldn't have mattered but the best part is that you're here." She he was good, safe, not in trouble at all.
"Feel free to jump in however you can."

And here came her Lions, see, she knew they'd come eventually... probably just got too caught up in breakfast."Good morning!" she chimed at the transfer student. It was awfully sweet of her to introduce herself, though at this stage of the school term it was hardly necessary. "It's a pleasure to meet you Arista, though I'd have been a pretty poor Head of House if I didn't know your name prior to attending my lesson." She offered the Lioness a friendly wink.
As for what flipnsnipwitit was, she was about to answer that when Cutty voiced it on her behalf. How convenient. She flashed him an appreciative smile for having the initiative to step in and assist in educating the young ones. "G'morning Cutty," she greeted almost as an afterthought.
"Absolutely, go for it!"

And now THAT... was how one made an entrance into greenhouse eight. Had Ethan been anywhere closer to her as he greeted the greenhouse and its inhabitants, she would have enveloped him into a hug and squished him with all the force of a Devils Snare. He was, too cute. Fortunately for him, he wouldn't have to live through the embarrassment of having that happen to him, so she returned his grin and wave with one of her own.
"Wonderful! Exactly what I want to here!" she trilled, offering the Slytherin a half salute. Half, because she did feel a little ridiculous in the action.
"You're welcome to jump in in whatever capacity you like, general maintenance, feeding, trimming dead leaves, fertilising, watering, we have compost mulching as well." Plenty to see and do.

"Hi Angel! Finally we can take care of the plants together!!!"
And now this was much nicer... more of her Lions to mingle with the others. "Good morning Lucy," Seren replied warmly, looking between her and Angel.
"There's plenty to do, so your help would be much appreciated... I'm sure Angel will help you out."
And in the meantime, she needed to make an announcement of sorts...
...
...
Lest she have to keep repeating herself.
"Thank you everyone for making it to the open portion of the workshop.. there's plenty to do, and just jump in wherever you feel comfortable, be that feeding, fertilising, watering or even just trimming back dead foliage.... the paved path could do with sweeping and if you could help move any leaf litter to the compost bin outside that would be appreciated."
Seren paused to let this sink in before continuing...
"As a result of the poor weather we've been having recently, we also have a heap of compost with wood chips to mulch around the plants and bushes... not the trees ... and this should help keep their roots warm and safe from frost over the winter."
So without further ado...
"I'll stop you all for a guided activity in approximately fifteen minutes, but otherwise, lets see what we can get done!"
OOC: This is essentially a free-for-all, interact with one another, the plants and of course us. The activity will begin on Monday at approximately 2am GMT.

Eight sure did come early in the morning. AJ was excited about this workshop, and couldn't believe that she had overslept. Of course she really wasn't that late considering that she was not a high maintenance girl in the least. "Hello professor. Thanks for having this cool workshop for us."
Immediately spotting her sister, AJ sidled up to her. "Couldn't wake me up huh?" She knew that she had been looking forward to this ever since the lesson.
Deciding that she wanted to do some fertilizing first, the firstie went and grabbed her some dung and started to spread it around all of the plants.

Reason: Adding Angel in the title.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Adi decided there were quite a few people helping out with the feeding so instead he would move on to another activity. Trimming. He tossed one last rat to the plants at random before setting off in search of any of the plants that needed their dead stuff removed.
He found a Geranium with a couple of dead leaves. Wasting no time, the third year pointed his wand at the plant. "Flipinsnipwitit!'' The dead leaves fell away, leaving the Geranium looking a lot better. "Flipinsnipwitit!'' More dead leaves fell away from the Geranium beside the first one.

“Copy that, Madame!” Ethan returned her half-salute with an excited grin on his face and moved further into the greenhouse. “Now, now. Who amongst you needs my tender loving care?” The Slytherin placed both of his hands on his hips as he surveyed the area looking for a…Oooooh! Look at that Fanged Geranium over there! It looked sad and all that. It’s sedated, all right—but it looked hungry, and there were dried leaves on it. And yes, it looked cold.
The Slytherin donned on his gloves and picked a piece of scrap meat. Using his wand, he levitated the food and offered it to the Geranium. “Open wiiiiide!” the plant slowly opened its mouth and devoured the meat. Chomp.
Good!
Now. Onto trimming those leaves. Flipinsnipwitit. Fun spell, right there. “We need you to look healthy and all that, so yeah—we need to trim those dead leaves of yours.” Ethan nodded and pointed his wand at it again. “Flipinsnipwitit!”Slash. Slash. Slash. The Slytherin watched as the dead leaves fell on the ground. He watched it too when the Geranium swayed slowly from side to side. “Did that tickle you?” Or did it hurt the plant? Or was it relieved? Maybe it was relieved because technically it didn’t have any hands to pluck it out of themselves, right? Right. The Slytherin turned and got himself a small pail of compost with wood chips for his charge.
“Right, we need your roots to stay warm and stuff. Winter is coming.” Ethan waved the small bucket in front of the geranium. Yeah, what is up with the weather lately? Anyway, he got his wand again and pointed at the plant. “This won’t hurt a bit. I promise. Immobulus!” The geranium was half-way through yawning, when it suddenly froze. Ethan got his pail and got a handful of the compost and scattered it on the plant’s pot making sure that he got it all covered and stuff.
He stepped away just in time to see the geranium snapping away. “There! You look pretty!...er…handsome! Er…” Plants don’t have gender, yeah? “You look awesome, plant!” Ethan gave it a thumbs up and moved on to the next task. Hmm. What to do next?

Marigold yawned as she walked closer to Bentley, covering her mouth with one hand. It was pretty early, and she wasn't in the best, most rested position she had been in, but she figured even flesh eating plants were cool enough to wake up to. "Morning, professor," she said as she passed her, smiling. She gave a head nod to Gray and that girl. Still didn't know her name. Sigh.

Hayden listened as Professor Bentley listed off several things she could do. She considered them. Watering sounded easy enough. But how was she supposed to do it? Most people probably did it with magic, but Hayden did not know how. Maybe she could watch and see if someone else did it and ask them about it. In the meantime, she found a watering can and filled it with water. Hayden started down a row, watering each plant. She wouldn't have minded chatting with someone as they worked, but at the moment everyone seemed busy.
Norah smiled at Professor Bentley's enthusiastic greeting, and nodded at her question. "Yep! I'll get started right away!" BEAM. These plants were scary wicked awesome. Listening to the professor's instructions, she looked down at her wand and wondered if she was even capable of using it this early in the morning. Eh, it was questionable, so she retrieved a broom and began to sweep the paved path which was littered with leaves. She hummed a little while she worked because a few months at Hogwarts had left her convinced of the utter BORINGNESS of muggle cleaning, but she figured none of the other students would want to do the dull work and she had no problem volunteering. Plus, those plants were probably hungry in the morning and Norah was quite attached to her arms.

Looking up from her sweeping and humming, Norah saw a girl nod at her. Well, she thought it was at her, she couldn't reaaallly tell, but she recognized her from earlier in the year and proceeded to wave to her cheerily. She KNEW her name, she swore she did. Ummmm. "Hey... what WAS it? Uhh, ooh! MARIGOLD! Norah blushed, not meaning to have shouted quite so loudly, but she smiled all the same. "Good morning," she continued, practically whispering this time to make up for her previous loudness. Then, she turned back to her sweeping, because she wouldn't want to wake up anything that might eat her, yep.

Bentley actually got a grin from the Slytherin because hey, flesh eaters! It's a wonder what some dangerous plants can do to your mood. The fourth year pulled out his gloves and strapped them on, vaguely noticing the way the greenhouse was filling up with people. Some people in there he didn't know so, he didn't really care for them. Others he did, like a certain Gryffinpuff couple (Bay and Lux) and Gold. They got waves from the Slytherin and a certain other Slytherin (Cutty) got a smirk in addition.
.................. Jeez. Was he being nice?
Once his gloves had been strapped on, Grayson turned his attention back towards Bentley as she started talking. Watering sounded like a dead boring activity so he was going to go with one of the other options. Like feeding. Feeding was fine, he could do that. The boy moved to grab some scraps of meat, pulling out his wand as he went. "Wingardium Leviosa!" That was more like it. He levitated the scrap over towards the nearest flesh eating plant. "Oooooooooopen up!"

Ohh, a Herbology workshop!
Sophie actually enjoyed Herbology, even though some of the concepts were sometimes a little hard for her to grasp. She did try, though. With her mom being a Potions Mistress, she'd been exposed to magical plants at an early age and had often heard her mom talk about how beneficial they were.
She was just about to approach somebody and ask what was going on, when she heard the professor's instructions. Hmm...okay. She could sweep the paved path. That would something she didn't do too much of in Herbology. "Good morning, Professor," she said, as she made her way to the stash of brooms.
Reaching them, she selected one then made her way over to the path. She started at one end and began sweeping away all the excess leaves and stuff.
elephant-astic•wanderlust•stay in the ninedaaays the original Taco Belle•look at the flowers✿
Being short was hard. Maddie had slipped in amongst the crowd but hadn't been able to greet the Professor properly because everytime she tried, a TALLER person seemed to get in her way. SIGH. She WOULD be tall someday, she WOULD. She was making that decision RIGHT now.
After listening to the directions from the BACK of the group, the small brunette smiled a little and nodded her head. RIGHT, she could be helpful. SUPER helpful. Well...when she was interested, anyway. And so SHE was going to get started feeding these plants immediately.
Flesh...where was the flesh?
Looking around, the first year searched out the food as she absently tugged on her gloves. Didn't want the things to slip off while she was handling the yucky stuff, that was for sure. Once she spotted where she needed to go, she wandered over and got herself a sizeable chunk of flesh-eating plant food stuff. EW.

Watching Bay toss meat at a plant, she laughed at his comment; it was awesome to see him as excited as she was. Either her excitement was infectious, or everyone loved flesh-eating plants! Hopefully it was the latter. "I almost touched a rat though. It was so close to my hand. I would have DIED." Did he understand the seriousness of this? Because it WAS serious to her.
Eyeing the bucket, she grabbed another hunk of meat and tossed it to a plant.

Did someone say Immobilize? He likes immobilizing things! Ethan turned around to see two first years talking to each other. Oh. OH! The other little person looked familiar. NO. Not familiar but knew her. "Hi AJ!...Hi...person." The Slytherin gave AJ a grin and a wave to the other girl. "Do you need some help?" he asked as he twirled his wand in front of them. Immobilizing plants were more fun than cleaning the paved walkway.
So, any request from this dude?

Ethan was turning out to be quite the handy little man. First he had a sword fight with her, and then raced with her as AJ dangled from his plank. Now he was offering to stun the plants for her. He was a keeper! "Hey Ethan. I was just telling Lucy here that we need somebody to knock out these plants for us." That was the person's name by the way. Look at AJ being all helpful and stuff.
"Care to put these plants to sleep for us?" Man, she really wished that she could have a go at that. The first year would just have to hunt down the professor and see if she could try her hand at it. She totally promised that she wouldn't lose a limb or anything in the process. Pinky promise!

"Care to put these plants to sleep for us?" Man, she really wished that she could have a go at that. The first year would just have to hunt down the professor and see if she could try her hand at it. She totally promised that she wouldn't lose a limb or anything in the process. Pinky promise!
"Hallo, Lucy." Ethan gave the first year a grin and a nod. So, they needed somebody to knock out those plants, yeah? Well when AJ said knock out, his first thought was to punch the plant in the face, but then again that was a no-no. He will be losing a hand if he did. Anyway! Help was here and Ethan was more than willing to give it.
He's a good Snake, okay? Don't judge.
"Sure! And it's easy to put these plants in freeze mode. The incantation is 'Immobulus'. Watch." The Slytherin pointed his wand at the plant and, "Immobulus!" Yep. The plant did freeze. "Now's the time to put the fertilizer. Go on, I'll keep an eye on the plant just in case it moves." Technically, he's now responsible for the two kiddies, no? He was the older one in the bunch anyway. And...yeah. Being a leader is fun!

Lex was here. Of course she was. Solely for another chance at seeing the flesh eaters. Sure the Professor said she need only asked and she'd be allowed inside but see...this way she didn't need to walk to the Greenhouse before hand to ask. It saved her a first trip and got her right to the business of flesh eaters. Plus it provided all that extra food for the plants--just look at all the kids that showed up!....Though she doubted the Professor would actually let her but wishful thinking you know?
The Gryffindor stood around with the others, listening to the light exercises they could do before the actual activity started.
As fun as keeping plants warm and sweeping pavements sounded, she'd have much preferred getting her hands dirty with the meat so that's what she moved toward once they were given the creative freedom to do so.
"That one over there seems eager." She said, coming up next to Maddie who'd also opted for feeding and pointing to the plant that was already reaching a tendril toward them. "Reckon he thinks it's you or the chunk of meat. Should set him straight." Yes, so eager. Lex levitated a chunk from her bucket but left it just above it'd head. She wanted to see the plant in action. Getting the food for itself.

AJ watched as he froze the plants with ease. "Cool. Think I can have a try?" There was no harm in that right? Her thoughts went back to the lesson when the professor said that the older kids were the only ones that could do it. Wellll... this was just for practice and she had semi-adult supervision. She had watched Ethan closely and everything.
Taking advantage of the knocked out plant, AJ got a scoop of dung and placed it all around. "There." Not wanting to do everything she looked over at Lucy. "Wanna add some more?" She had technically left some room there.
Angel smiled at the Professor and then Lucy came. "Hi Lucy." Angel beamed. "Well I'm just about to do some weeding, I like that most, so if you want then you can join me." Angel beamed, she then say her sister. "Oh I didn't think you'd be interested, since it's not pranking people." Angel winked at her sister, to show she was joking.
